Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3 Would’ve Focused on Ancient Sith

Obsidian had big plans for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3, and although the game never saw the light of day, one of its writers has given us a look into what could have been for this planned next entry in the beloved KOTOR series.

At Reboot Develop, VG247 spoke to lead writer and designer for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords and asked him if Obsidian had ever started work on a story for Knights of the Old Republic 3.

Avellone confirmed that work was underway, as the team always envisioned the KOTOR story to be a trilogy.

“When we finished the second one we were all trying to restore our lives back to sanity,” Avellone remembers. “We did start working on the third game pitch, because we always imagined the trilogy. Even when working on the second game, we

Prounis Jewelry Launches, Rooted in Ancient Technique

Leave it to a 24-year-old to reconsider the hard-won rules of jewelry. Jean Prounis this week introduces her namesake jewelry brand, Prounis — based not on flash and bling, but rather handcrafted subtleties and ancient goldsmithing techniques.
Formerly a studio assistant to Jemima Kirke and a design apprentice at Ghuran, Prounis focuses on unpolished gold, cabochon stones and softer-than-typical metal, which molds to reflect the imperfect nicks and knocks of everyday life.
“I felt like there was a hand touch missing in a lot of jewelry — everything I make is made in New York. I [personally] make 90 percent of what I sell and the rest is made by three very talented jewelers in the jewelry district. There was a really sterile feel in the environment and I wanted to have jewelry with character that shapes to how you wear it everyday,” Prounis said.

A look from Prounis.

Handmade pieces include a braided chain necklace that takes one week’s worth of man hours to complete, priced at $ 13,000.
Prounis’ collection is made from 22-karat gold that mimics the chemical compositions used in ancient Greek and Roman jewelry. This ratio of gold, copper and silver allows Prounis to utilize traditional granulation techniques. Granulation —

Graff Acquires Ancient 373.72-Carat Rough Diamond

AGE AND BEAUTY: Continuing its mission to source exceptional stones, the diamond jeweler Graff has revealed the acquisition of a 373.72-carat rough diamond sourced from Botswana’s Karowe mine.
The diamond, which is classified as a D-color, was part of the Lesedi la Rona, the largest gem discovered in the last century. It is estimated to be 3 billion years old and it was created when Earth was still being formed.
Laurence Graff, chairman of Graff diamonds, said he and his team of gemologists and master cutters will now work at cutting and polishing the stone, which has the ,potential to yield a significantly large polished diamond.
“Every diamond has an inner script that we must read and respect,” said Graff. “We will now spend time discovering the secrets of this magnificent stone. Knowing that nature has given us this extraordinary gift, we take on the great responsibility of releasing its inner beauty.”
Last year the British jeweler also unveiled the Venus, the largest heart-shaped diamond in the world which weighs 118.78 carats, or 23.5 grams. It was cut from a 375-carat rough diamond and polished to ensure it has no fluorescence or colored glow over a period of 18 months.

She was loudmouthed, rude, overdressed, and he was glad to see that he had an excuse not to like her. She had an unwashed neck.I gave a grin of smug and superior pomposity. Washing behind my ears, and washing my neck properly every day when having a bath had been drilled into me when I was a baby. So I had a squeaky clean neck, hurray, hurray. But it looked like I had been neglecting my elbows and my knees and also my feet. That comes of having no time for leisurely showers because one is in too much of a hurry to shower, get ready, and get out of the house in time to catch the morning’s rush to the rat race. Even if you are not rushing around, and you have all the time in the world to have a long leisurely bath with all those lotions, potions, bath salts, and all those chemical-based stuffs, let us look at natural methods which are going to add to a clean body and exterior. These notions of elementary hygiene and cleanliness were disregarded, in many parts of the world, especially in Europe for centuries, but in other parts of the world, especially in ancient civilizations like Egypt, Persia, Babylon, China, Japan, and even ancient Europe, traditional beauty recipes to take care of the body and keep it young, youthful looking, and beautiful were handed down from grandmother to grandchild, and

The Naked Country: Sexual Freedom in Ancient Greece

The Naked Country: Sexual Freedom in Ancient Greece

Over a thousand prostitutes served in the Temple of Aphrodite in Corinth, and it was a mark of great piety if a woman went there and coupled with a stranger. Sex was at the heart of life in ancient Greece, and so was the beauty of the human body – which was why completely naked servants served at banquets, and athletes and wrestlers trained and competed in the nude – watched often by an enthusiastic audience of women none of whom were averse to a closer encounter. The Greeks loved to look at a beautiful naked body, and were not averse to a close encounter with one. In an exchange of letters, brother and sister Arsenius and Ligeia frankly describe their enthusiastic entry into adult life in Corinth (described by historians as sex-mad) and the more sophisticated capital, Athens. Their tastes developed quickly, and are surprisingly similar to those of today.

Ancient Egypt the Light of the World

Ancient Egypt the Light of the World

A WORK OF RECLAMATION AND RESTITUTION IN TWELVE BOOKS Vol. I and 2.It may have been a million years agoThe Light was kindled in the Old Dark LandWith which the illumined Scrolls are all aglow, That Egypt gave us her mummied hand: This was the secret of that subtle smileInscrutable upon the Sphinx’s face, Now told from sea to sea, from isle to isle; The revelation of the Old Dark Race;Theirs was the wisdom of the Bee and Bird, Ant, Tortoise, Beaver, working human-wise;The ancient darkness spake with Egypt’s Word;Hers was the primal message of the skies: The Heavens are telling nightly of her glory, And for all time Earth echoes her great story.I have written other books, but this I look upon as the exceptional labour which has made my life worth living. Comparatively speaking, ‘A Book of the Beginnings’ (London, 1881) was written in the dark, ‘The Natural Genesis’ (London, 1883) was written in the twilight, whereas ‘Ancient Egypt’ has been written in the light of day. The earlier books were met in England with the truly orthodox conspiracy of silence. Nevertheless, four thousand volumes have got into circulation somewhere or other up and down the reading world, where they are slowly working in their unacknowledged way. Probably the present book will be appraised at home in proportion as it comes back piecemeal from abroad, from Germany, or France, or maybe from the country of the Rising Sun. To all lovers of the truth the writer now commends the verifiable truths that wait for recognition in these pages. Truth is all-potent with its silent powerIf only whispered, never heard aloud, But working secretly, almost unseen, Save in some excommunicated book;’Tis as the lightning with its errand doneBefore you hear the thunder. For myself, it is enough to know that in despite of many hindrances from straitened circumstances, chronic ailments, and the deepening shadows of encroaching age, my book is printed, and the subject-matter that I cared for most is now entrusted safely to th.

Seven Wonders of the Ancient World

Seven Wonders of the Ancient World

The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and all sorts of mysteries attaching to them, have intrigued people since the second century BCE. Why were these particular creations chosen and when? And why did the ancients want to draw up such a list in the first place? What were the technical and cultural factors involved in the creation and listing of the Wonders? The Seven Wonders still rival many of the phenomenal products of both nature and mankind in their size, majesty, and beauty. Six of them no longer stand, having been destroyed by natural disaster or by human intervention. From the Pyramids at Giza to the Colossus of Rhodes, from the Hanging Gardens of Babylon to the Lighthouse of Alexandria, from the Temple of Ephesus to the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus and the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World have never ceased to fascinate down the ages.

Sport in Ancient Times

Sport in Ancient Times

Crowther offers a fascinating look at the role of sport as practiced in several important civilizations in the ancient world. He not only probes the games themselves, but explores the ways in which athletics figured into cultural arenas that extended beyond physical prowess to military associations, rituals, status, and politics. Sport in Ancient Times has four distinct parts: the Prehistoric Age, historic Greece, ancient Italy, and the Byzantine Empire. Beginning with the earliest civilizations, Crowther examines the military and recreational aspects of sports in prehistoric Egypt, with brief references to other river-valley cultures in Sumeria, Mesopotamia, and Persia. He looks at the rituals of Cretan bull-leaping and boxing in the Bronze Age, the high status of sports in Mycenaean Greece, and the funeral games in the Trojan War as described by the epic poet Homer. In what he terms the historic period, Crowther examines the significance of the ancient Olympic Games, the events of Greek athletics, and the attitude of other civilizations (notably Rome) towards them. He attempts to discover to what extent the Romans believed in the famous ideal of Juvenal, a sound mind in a sound body, and discusses the significance of the famous Baths not only for sport, but also for culture and society. He likewise explores the Roman emphasis on spectator sports and the use of gladiatorial contests and chariot racing for political purposes (the concept of bread and games). The section on the Byzantine Empire focuses, notably, on chariot racing and the riots at sporting contests-riots reminiscent of crowd violence in modern sports such as soccer. Crowther closes with perspectives that bring to life some of the issues revealed in previous chapters. These include a comparison of the social status and significance of a famous Olympic athlete (Milo), a Roman gladiator (Hermes), and a Byzantine chariot racer (Porphyrius). He also addresses the changing role of women in sports in antiq
