Anna Wintour Will Be Honored at Annual LGBT Center Gala

Anna Wintour will be honored for her contributions to the LGBT community next month at the annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center gala dinner at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.
The center will recognize the publishing doyenne at their April 19 event with the Trailblazer Award for her “unwavering support and encouragement of the LGBTQ community within both the fashion and media industries,” according to the organization.
Last year, The Center honored Hillary Clinton at the fund-raiser, which brought in more than $ 1.75 million to support its various programs. Marc Jacobs was also honored with the organization’s Visionary Award, explaining how Wintour’s Met Gala gives him a certain level of social anxiety each year.
“It feels a little weird to be recognized when I just see myself as being true to myself,” Jacobs said. “The night [of the Met Gala] itself gives me a little bit of anxiety, but every social situation does. I’m really awkward socially.”
The center was founded in 1983 and from its West Village headquarters provides critical health and welfare services to the LGBT community.

Anna Faris could be the first celebrity wedding officiant to wear Ugg boots for the job.

The actress, 41, was front and center at the wedding of her Anna Faris Is Unqualified podcast co-host’s wedding Friday at the Thomas George Estates in Healdsburg, California, and wore the hottest boots of 2007 to marry Sim Sarna and his new wife, Amy.

“Congrats Sim & Amy!!!!!” Faris wrote on Instagram, along with, “@simsarna @amy_and_stausi.”

In photos taken by Melissa Atle for Weddings by Sunnyside, Faris wore a light pink dress with her hair in a bun as she smiled at the camera alongside her friends.

Several people loved Faris’ boots, complimenting her in the comments.

“In Uggs. Love,” one user wrote, while another wrote, “Nice Ugg boots. Cute warm toes!”

Someone else commented, “Ugh just when I thought I couldn’t love @annafaris anymore she wears Ugg’s while I’m sure being by far the best officiant ever. Congrats @simsarna and @amy_and_stausi all the happiness to you both.”

On Thanksgiving, Faris hinted her the couple’s wedding and her role in it while sharing an animated video of her officiating the ceremony and Sarna explaining how the two met.

Faris split with Chris Pratt in August, with the Jurassic World star filing for divorce earlier this month.

The actress, who is starring in a remake of Overboard, has been seen with rumored boyfriend Michael Barrett.

The cinematographer is the first man Faris has been publicly seen with since she announced her separation from Pratt after eight years of marriage. Faris and Barrett were seen on several dinner dates in October, stepping out twice in the span of two days at Modo Mio, an upscale Italian restaurant in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Pacific Palisades.

Anna Sui, Norma Kamali Talk Shop With Marie Claire’s Anne Fulenwider at FGI’s ‘Tastemakers’

CHANGE IN SEASONS: Anna Sui and Norma Kamali colorfully recapped their careers Thursday morning at the 21 Club, but they left attendees thinking about the industry’s future more than the past.
Marie Claire’s Anne Fulenwider covered a lot of ground as moderator of the Fashion Group International’s “Tastemakers” event. Her newest Hearst hire, Kate Lanphear, was in the crowd along with Patricia Underwood, Marylou Luther, Nicole Fischelis, Amy Rosi and others.
Sui explained how she got to know Kamali from hanging out in the designer’s 53rd Street store, where her roommate worked. But Sui really bonded when Kamali invited Sui for Christmas dinner, when she was stranded in the city for the holidays. Raised in a family of intellectuals, Sui described her mother’s reaction to her designer dreams as, “You really want to be a dressmaker?” But her parents became avid supporters — front row at every show, with her father, who moonlighted to help pay for her Parsons School of Design tuition, also acting as staff photographer.

Anna Faris Says Ex Chris Pratt ‘Still Cracks Me Up All the Time’

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris have nothing but love for each other.

Faris, 40, opens up about her relationship with Pratt, 38, since their split, in this week’s PEOPLE issue. “We’ll always have each other and be incredible friends,” says the Mom star.

“There is still so much laughter in our lives together, and he is so proud of me, still,” she adds. “We watched each other grow, and he still cracks me up all the time. And I think I crack him up  — unless he’s a really good actor and great at faking laughter.”

The pair announced their decision to separate after eight years of marriage in August. The two share 5-year-old son, Jack.

“It’s understandable that people seemed so invested in our happiness together,” Faris says of the public’s reaction to their split. “All I can say about that is, it’s all true, that we truly adore each other, and we love each other, I think it still comes through.”

Faris’ new book Unqualified (out later this month) includes details of how the former couple fell in love making their movie Take Me Home Tonight, their spur-of-the-moment marriage in Bali and the birth of their son.

RELATED: In Their Own Words: Chris Pratt & Anna Faris On The Highs & Lows Of Their Relationship

“At first I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, this is crazy timing,’” she says of the book coming out just months after the split. “Now it sort of feels like maybe in a way everything that’s happened helps bring it full circle.”

Pratt even penned the foreword of the book.

Along with singing her praises, the Jurassic World star writes in the book that he and Faris will be “just fine” and plan to move forward by continuing to “amicably co-parent a human” together.

“I am so grateful that he contributed to the book,” says Faris. “Chris and I are really great friends, and I think that we always will be.”

Unqualified hits shelves Oct. 24.

Anna Sui Spring 2018

We all shine on. Or at least Anna Sui wants us to.
The collection Sui showed Monday night harkened back to a time not too long ago but seemingly ancient, a time when the youth movement du jour was about spreading love and seeking community, and everyone did it in pretty piled-on prints. Oh, the good old days.
“It’s a be-in,” Sui said backstage after the show. “We all have to be there because I think we need to focus on the beautiful, the positive — glitter and sparkles and being happy.”
The show opened in the dark with Sui’s models taking a stroll, a coed, cross-generational counterculture (remember counterculture?) bohemian brigade, including Kirsten Owen and Maggie Rizer (hardly ready for elder Earth Mother status, but they made the point) and several children. It closed with a girl with kaleidoscope eyes on the soundtrack and a girl with a missing platform shoe on the runway, her sister helping her negotiate the finale walk. (You’ve seen it by now: Bella supporting Gigi.) Two displays of what family can mean, one scripted construct, one accidental-yet-perfect punctuation.
Between the two: A Seventies fashion lovefest. Showing against a big here-comes-the-sun medallion, Sui drew from an overdrawn well and

British Designers Turn Out for Launch of ‘The World of Anna Sui’ Exhibition

SPOTLIGHT ON SUI: Designer love was flowing on Thursday night at the opening party for Anna Sui’s retrospective at London’s Fashion and Textile Museum on Thursday night. Among the guests were Sui’s creative peers, including Stephen Jones, John Rocha, Pam Hogg, Twiggy and Rifat Özbek.
“She’s been collecting my clothes for years. Then I gradually got to know her — which has been wonderful,” said Zandra Rhodes, who founded the museum in 2003. Rhodes, who first met Sui 15 years ago, said her favorite bits of the show were the prints she did for Sui “when she did her Tahiti collection.”
Rhodes has recently been working on prints for Valentino’s men’s wear and resort collections.
Jones said he met Sui in 1982 through Marc Jacobs and the jeweler Karen Erickson. He said his favorite Sui moment was the designer’s spring 1994 show at New York Fashion Week. “Linda [Evangelista], Naomi [Campbell] and Christy [Turlington], coming down the runway in little baby-doll dresses — genius,” Jones said.
Known for her exuberant looks made from rich fabrics, prints and colors, and for tapping into subcultures, “The World of Anna Sui” features 125 ensembles complete with accessories, shoes and hats and highlights the designer’s collaborations, collections, interior work

Anna Nicole Smith’s Daughter Is Adorable In Annual Kentucky Derby Showing

No matter who snags the crown Saturday, Dannielynn Birkhead and father LarryBirkhead have won for the sweetest dad-and-daughter appearance.

The 10-year-old daughter of the late model Anna Nicole Smith continued her annual tradition of hitting the Kentucky Derby red carpet with her father this weekend. Both were decked out in cream and pink outfits Saturday, with Dannielynn topping her outfit off with a headpiece perfectly suited for the festivities.

The pair also made an appearance the night before, all dolled up in formal attire for the 29th Barnstable Brown Kentucky Derby Eve gala.

In an interview with the “Today” show last year, Larry explained that he’s not interested in pushing his daughter into the spotlight.

“People call me all the time and say can she be in a movie, can she model?” Birkhead said at the time. “I didn’t care about it, so I’d say no, she’s not interested. She’s just a regular kid.”

Dannielynn has been making the Kentucky Derby rounds with her dad since 2010, when she was 3 years old. Clearly, her love of pink hasn’t changed a bit. And neither has her close bond with her dad.

Anna Sui Gears Up for London Exhibition, Secures Fall Launch for Teen Home Decor With PBteen

OPERATION ANNA: The upcoming opening of “The World of Anna Sui” at the Fashion and Textile Museum in London is only one of the many projects Anna Sui has going on this year.
While not the exhibition’s official catalogue, Abrams will publish “The World of Anna Sui” book on May 30. Sui will also roll out a home decor collection geared for teenagers with PBteen, a Williams-Sonoma brand, in September.
In the meantime, the crunch is on before the May 26 opening of what will be the American designer’s first retrospective in the U.K. More than 100 mannequins will be suited up in items from her archives, which are in the process of being shipped to the London museum that was started by Zandra Rhodes. Staffers at Sui’s West 39th Street offices are busy packing up the “ephemeron, accessories and tons of stuff” that will be featured in the show, which will runs through Oct. 1, said Sui’s longtime righthand-man Thomas Miller. “All the mannequins are fully accessorized from head-to-toe. Anna just piles on the accessories so it’s a lot,” Miller said.
While Sui is good friends with Rhodes, the roots of the exhibition stemmed from her meeting the museum’s director. A few

Curb Your Ire, Bros: Anna Kendrick Is In Talks To Play Santa In A Disney Movie

Anna Kendrick is in talks to play Santa Claus in a new Disney movie, Variety reported Wednesday.

We know some people are incredibly protective of the traditional image of Santa Claus, so the backlash about this news seems inevitable. Typically protesters (aka Megyn Kelly) argue that Santa ― a fictional character with historical ties to a Turkish monk ― must be white. Now they get to argue over whether Father Christmas must, in fact, be a father. (Please don’t.)

The project’s working title is “Nicole.” Kendrick plays Santa’s daughter, who is left to take over the family business when Saint Nick retires and her brother chickens out before his first Christmas in charge. “Miss Congeniality” and “Two Weeks Notice” scribe Marc Lawrence has written the script and will direct the film.

Gender-swapping on the big screen is nothing new, of course. Just last year, misogynistic bros claimed their childhoods were ruined by Paul Feig’s female-centric “Ghostbusters” reboot. Marvel opted to cast Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One in “Doctor Strange.” And a reboot of “Ocean’s 11” booked an all-star cast including Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Sandra Bullock and Mindy Kaling.

Most other details about “Nicole” are under wraps. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s not a musical. The Huffington Post reached out to Kendrick’s rep to confirm her involvement but did not immediately hear back.

Chris Pratt Surprises Anna Faris With A Wedding Ring Upgrade For Christmas

Chris Pratt’s character in the sci-fi drama “Passengers” might be kind of a creep, but in real life the actor is an unabashed romantic.

On the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of the space-flight romance, Pratt’s wife, actress Anna Faris, revealed that he had upgraded their wedding ring with some serious bling two days prior.

“He just got me this ring. I know. Like, two days ago,” she told E! News on the red carpet while flashing the gorgeous diamond. “I look [at it] and I’m like, ‘I can’t believe it, either!’ He’s an incredibly romantic man and I’m very, very lucky.”

“She got me a tractor,” Pratt quipped, “so we’re kind of even!”

The stunning oval-cut stone, circled by a halo of diamonds and offset with a sparkly gold band, appears to be considerably bigger than Faris’ original wedding ring.

After the premiere, Faris gave a shoutout to Pratt as only she could, in a tweet responding to a message from InStyle about her blinding new bling.

Sounds about right.

Anna Faris Admits Chris Pratt Cheating Rumors Rattled Her Relationship

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris have been married for since 2009 and share a young son together, but even that doesn’t leave them to immune to cheating rumors in Hollywood.

Faris opened up about the difficulty of being occasional tabloid fodder in a new episode of her podcast, “Anna Faris Is Unqualified,” along with actress Isla Fisher. While Fisher said she prefers not to mention her husband ― actor Sacha Baron Cohen ― or their two children in press interviews, Faris has been open about her marriage. But that comes with a downside.

“We were in the public a little bit, there were some tabloid rumors about strain in our relationship,” the 40-year-old said, explaining how she couldn’t help but take the words personally. “I just remember feeling so hurt in a way that bothered me, because I didn’t want to think of myself as somebody who could be affected by tabloid shit.”

The actress said the rumors and false public perception made her feel “incredibly insecure” and confessed that the most painful part of speculation boiled down to a few different factors.

“I take pride in how great my relationship is with Chris,” Faris said. “But having said that, of course, in this crazy world where he’s off doing movies and I’m in L.A. raising our child, of course I’m going to feel vulnerable, like any normal human would.”

When the rumors of Pratt’s alleged infidelity with “Passengers” co-star Jennifer Lawrence first surfaced in 2015, Faris told Us Weekly that the gossip “stung a little bit harder” than she thought it would.

“I had always kind of believed that part of the rumors of celebrity couples were sort of true because they had never been part of my life,” the actress said at the time. “I was like, ‘Oh, maybe there’s a kernel of truth to that.’ It’s been a little devastating because for us, it’s like, ‘What the heck?’ This has been blindsiding to us. We have an incredible relationship. It has been weirdly stinging.”

Luckily, the two persevered through the difficult times and have kept their love alive (by wrestling).

How Many Fashion Robots Showed Up to the Met Gala Wearing Anna Wintour’s Bob? Let’s Investigate

It wasn’t too long ago that Taylor Swift showed up to the Grammy Awards with a new Anna Wintour-inspired bob — and at this year’s technology-themed Met Gala, she wasn’t the only one paying homage to the host of the night. Swift, Kylie Jenner, and Michelle Williams all hit the red carpet wearing hairstyles oh-so-similar to Wintour’s.

met gala bobsGetty (4)

Sure, Swift’s banged bob has transformed into a platinum, textured look since we first saw it just a few months ago — but with her sleek bangs still intact, her style continues to remain very much in line with Wintour’s signature hairstyle.

RELATED PHOTOS: 10 Stars Who’ve Rocked Anna Wintour’s Bob-and-Bangs Look

So after the singer had such success pulling it off, it’s no surprise that Kylie Jenner and Michelle Williams wanted to take the look for a spin as well. Williams showed up with a new haircut, which fell somewhere between Swift and Wintour’s looks. With short, choppy bangs and messy texture, she gave the style an edgy-yet-classy vibe that worked perfectly with her navy v-neck mini-dress and combat boots.

RELATED VIDEO: Our 30 Favorite Met Gala Looks in under a Minute

And Jenner showed up to her first Met Gala red carpet, revealing a sleek black bob similar to one we’ve seen before on the reality star — except this time, it’s shorter (!!) and parted perfectly to the side, instead of down the middle. However, she didn’t go full-Wintour: although the obligatory bangs were nowhere to be seen, that’s not to say she’ll never give it a try, as she recently snapped a similar banged bob on Instagram.

She dines with celebrities, gets the best seats at sporting events, and is invited to all the best parties. Am I talking about the next Hollywood “It” girl? Not at all. I’m talking about Anna Wintour, the 62-year-old Editor of Vogue. Wintour, who has been the Editor of Vogue for the past 23 years, has somewhat unprecedented fame for a magazine editor. She is undoubtedly the inspiration for the maniacal editor Miranda Priestly in “The Devil Wears Prada,” as well as the focus of the 2007 documentary “The September Issue” which studies the making of Vogue’s largest issue ever. Credited with being the most powerful woman in fashion, Wintour’s decisions on the editorial content of Vogue can set the trends and tone of fashion for months to come. Designers clamor to show her their collections, while simultaneously admitting to being afraid of her. MEET THE AUTHOR Kate Kastelein has over 10 years of experience writing, researching and editing articles, eNewsletters, web content, press releases, and resource books. She’s a huge nerd, and is interested in everything from science and the latest technology to crafts, food and celebrity gossip. Kate’s a native Mainer, and when she’s not shoveling snow or writing, she’s huddled near the fire with her daughter, husband, and dogs. EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK Dubbed “Nuclear Wintour” when she took over as Editor of British Vogue, many of her close friends and co-workers quickly come to her defense and say that though she is a decisive, firm boss, she certainly isn’t the mon

First Nighter: Sherie René Scott’s “Whorl Inside a Loop,” Ken Regan’s “Sense of an Ending,” Anna Ziegler’s “A Delicate Ship”

Not too long ago and for reasons not entirely altruistic, Broadway and off-Broadway veteran Sherie René Scott (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Everyday Rapture) taught a 12-week prison course named–not by her–“Theatricalizing the Personal Narrative.”

For someone who likes putting her life on stage (for instance, the above-mentioned Everyday Rapture, co-written with Dick Scanlan), the assignment gives the impression of being ideal for yet again theatricalizing her own personal narrative. While she doesn’t appear to have had that in mind when she began working with this inmate group, she nevertheless has done so touchingly and enlighteningly with Whorl Inside a Loop, again co-authoring with Scanlan, in a Second Stage production.

Directed by Michael Mayer and Scanlan in a manner alternating between gritty and grinning, Scott and Scanlan have adapted her story and included her interplay with prisoners — all of these found guilty of murder, one of them innocent of the crime. The playwrights also devote time to Scott’s dealings with members of the prison staff and exchanges with family, friends (notably a doubting husband called Noah) and a potential producer.

While there are times when it feels as if Scott and Scanlan may have tweaked what really happened — not necessarily to protect, say, the guilty — most of the 100 intermissionless minutes have the clarion ring of verisimilitude. In particular, a spectator might expect that among the convicted killers with whom Scott comes into contact over the 12 visits, at least one would pose some degree of menace. When that never happens, it initially seems as if Scott has to be glossing over the truth of her experience.

Okay, when one of the men — all of them African-American — reenacts his murder, there is a tense moment, but it’s quickly defused. Still, in the long run the lack of anything disturbing comes across as hewing closer to the truth than inserting volatility simply because it’s expected might be. Incidentally, as benign as the men are within the walls — which for this purpose have been stripped by designers Christine Jones and Brett Banakis to Second Stage architect Rem Koolhaas’s bared look — there is one, remaining identified, who, the men agree, must never be allowed out.

That over time Scott becomes friendlier and more at ease with the six men in the class as they deliver the narratives they’ve prepared appears to be quite natural. She’s both surprised and gratified that the men are so forthcoming and articulate when describing either incidents that put them where they are or when detailing other chapters in their lives.

There is one narrative that at its finish earned applause during the press preview I attended. Jeffrey (Chris Meyers), who didn’t commit the crime for which he took the fall, talks about himself with such pathos that only the hardest heart would stay unmoved. His — confession is the wrong word — his explanation is so irrefutably convincing that Scott asks the obvious question: If everyone knows he shouldn’t be behind bars, why is he? She gets her answer, and it’s not a consoling one.

The other prisoners, who boast names like Sunnyside, Flex, Bey, Source and Rick are played with great vigor by, respectively, Derrick Baskin, Daniel J. Watts, Donald Webber Jr., Ryan Quinn and Nicholas Christopher. They all double as prison staffers — one is the man assigned to check Scott for any metal she might be carrying. She is: the wire in her bra, and it causes him consternation.

In addition to Noah, among those impersonated are Scott’s producer Tammy and her gay hairdresser. One of his clients is Hillary Rodham Clinton, who one day has an appointment immediately following Scott’s — an appointment leading to developments potentially meaningful for the inmates. (There’s no speculation here whether the current Presidential candidate’s chances will rise or fall on her agreeing to attend a performance the inmates give in the prison gym, but she does want to drop by with the intent of considering prison reform.)

In case anyone deciding whether to see Whirl Inside a Loop (the title refers to fingerprints, of course) is wondering about Scott’s exploiting the prisoners’ histories, the issue is raised and has apparently been resolved satisfactorily. The program credits “additional material” to, alphabetically, Andre Kelley, Marvin Lewis, Felix Machado, Richard Norat and Jeffrey Rivera. Farther back in the program, the title of each man’s narrative is listed.

During Scott’s three-month course, one of the men has applied a fourth time for parole. As the Whorl Inside a Loop ending approaches, he receives his letter. What it discloses won’t be, er, disclosed here, but it’s a beauty of a blackout.

******************

It’s March 31, 1999 in Ken Urban’s Sense of an Ending, and Charles (Joshua David Robinson), a New York Times reporter in trouble for plagiarism, is hoping to clear his name by getting to the bottom of a breaking Rwandan story. Sister Justina (Heather Alicia Simms) and Sister Alice (Dana Marie Ingraham) have been charged with contributing to a Tutsi massacre in a local cathedral and are about to be transported to Berlin for trial.

Charles is being looked after by soldier Paul (Hubert Pont-Du Jour), whose motives regarding the nuns’ innocence or guilt is unclear. Nevertheless, Charles persists at getting Sister Justina and Sister Alice to tell their histories and by the interviews, even when the nuns are cagey around each other, reiterate their innocence. That’s the report Charles knows his NYT editor, Kendra, wants and expects. He’s also hoping to interview Dusabi (Danyon Davis), a Tutsi who, with his now deceased wife Elizabeth, survived the slaying and is the only witness to the murder and burning of the several hundred men, women and children who’d sought shelter in the church.

Sense of an Ending, compactly directed by Adam Fitzgerald and compellingly acted, at 59E59, is a look back at fading headlines concerning the Hutus revenge on the Tutsis once the long repressed Hutus were in the position to dominate their former suppressers. It’s a potent view of man’s and woman’s inhumanity to man and woman.

In the small space where Sense of an Ending is unfolding the dominant piece set designer David L. Arsenault provides is the cathedral’s large double door, each door featuring a relatively small cut-out of a cross. Behind the doors is supposedly what remains of the carnage. The door opens only at the denouement. What’s revealed is stunning, but, needless to say, will not be described here.
****************
Sarah (Miriam Silverman) and Sam (Matt Dellapina) — newly in love and smooching when not mooting the benefits of suffering as a prescription for self-understanding — are interrupted by an insistent knock on the door to the comfortable Manhattan living room Reid Thompson has designed for her to call home.

Not expecting more company, Sarah reluctantly goes to see who’s there. In bursts Nate (Nick Westrate), Sarah’s best friend from when they grew up in the same building. His arrival is a Big Uh-oh, and occurs only after the three characters have had a few fourth-wall-breaking words with the audience. Their addressing the patrons continues throughout A Delicate Ship, Anna Ziegler’s long-at-80-minutes play, directed by Margot Bordelon for The Playwrights Realm, at Playwright’s Horizons.

The difficulty with the piece is that — as played and directed but maybe not as written — Nate’s high-energy, even menacing, presence signals just about everything that will dismayingly affect the incipient Sarah-Sam romance. No surprise mitigates the predictable plotting as Nate begins assailing Sam and increasingly declares himself the man who’s loved Sarah from second grade, just as, he maintains, she loves him.

Anyone aware of Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? or maybe even 1965’s on-screen Darling knows that introducing a party game is trouble, and that’s just what Nate does here. It also doesn’t help that Ziegler has indulged herself in much questionable poetic writing. “Our lives are love songs to our parents,” Sarah proclaims at one point, and if the line strikes you as delectable, then maybe A Delicate Ship is for you.

Actors Silverman and Dellapina, who plays guitar and sings nicely along the way, perform well together, and Westrate has some effective stretches. If on arrival he were to play Nate as less immediately psychotic, Ziegler’s script might have a more insinuating dramatic arc.

So there you have it: another play where an intruder hangs around longer than anyone would be allowed to linger in real life.

Anna Kendrick Shares Her Perfect Life Motto With Elle Magazine

Anna Kendrick seems to have this thing we call life all figured out.

In a recent interview with Elle magazine (for which she posed alongside celeb BFF Aubrey Plaza), the actress discusses everything from turning 30 to the best advice she’s ever received. But best of all, she shares her new life motto, in turn giving us all new words to live by.

When asked if she has her own motto, Kendrick gave what might be one of her best responses ever: “I can’t think of anything that wouldn’t make me sound like a pretentious fuckface. Maybe that should be my motto: Don’t be a pretentious fuckface.”

That is pretty much the best advice anyone could give, and at least its honest. We can also think of a few people who could benefit from adopting it, too. (Ahem, Donald Trump).

Throughout her career, Kendrick has also been on the receiving end of some great advice from industry peers like James Corden, who helped her get through her Oscars performance

She told the mag, “I remember when I was getting ready to perform at the Oscars with Neil Patrick Harris, I ran into James Corden from ‘Into the Woods,’ and I told him how nervous I was and he said, ‘You have to enjoy yourself because the 13-year-old you would punch yourself if you didn’t.’ I try to keep that in mind. I think that’s really great advice for everybody. To enjoy yourself in the good moments, and to push yourself in the hard moments.”

Beyond sharing her wisdom, the “Pitch Perfect” star opened up to Elle about what it means to her to be 30 years old.

“I started calling myself 30 when I turned 29. I feel really ready for it. I feel like in your twenties you have to put up with a lot of bullshit. I know you have to in your 30s as well, but you can always say, ‘You know what? I’m 30-goddamned years old so I’m going to go home before 2am because I can.’ I’m excited for that.”

Anna Katharine Green’s Collected Works

Anna Katharine Green’s Collected Works

Anna Katharine Green was an American poet and novelist. She was one of the first writers of detective fiction in America and distinguished herself by writing well plotted, legally accurate stories. Green has been called “the mother of the detective novel.” She was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 11, 1846. Green had an early ambition to write romantic verse, and she corresponded with Ralph Waldo Emerson. When her poetry failed to gain recognition, she produced her first and best known novel, The Leavenworth Case (1878), praised by Wilkie Collins, and the hit of the year. She became a bestselling author, eventually publishing about 40 books. Ellen Higgins, professor of a course on women and detective fiction at the University at Albany, delivered a talk on “The Female Rivals of Sherlock Holmes” at an international conference on Sherlock Holmes at Bennington College in 1994 with a paper that offered a revisionist feminist view of Sherlock. Higgins chronicled the work of Green, who published The Leavenworth Case, which became a best-seller a decade before Arthur Conan Doyle brought out his first Holmes story. “I only found out afterward that some people were a little upset with it because they don’t want to hear about women competing with the master,” Higgins said. Anna Kendrick Skewers James Corden In A ‘Pitch Perfect’-Style Riff-Off

“The Late Late Show” was basically a college a cappella concert Friday night.

Anna Kendrick joined host James Corden in a “Pitch Perfect”-style riff-off to determine who had the best a cappella chops. Along with a cappella group The Filharmonic, the two sang hits including *NSYNC’s “Bye, Bye, Bye “and Pat Benatar’s “Love Is A Battlefield.” Kendrick took home the title, but with those ace song choices and Kendrick and Corden’s fun dance vibes, isn’t everyone a winner? (Not to mention it was an “Into the Woods” reunion.)

Later in the show, Corden sat down with Kendrick and her “Pitch Perfect” co-stars Brittany Snow and Hailee Steinfeld.

Anna Sui, O’Neill Celebrate Collaboration

SURF’S UP: It was a sea of boho chic as Anna Sui and O’Neill celebrated their 12-piece spring collection at a launch party Thursday in Orange County.
Anna Sui for O’Neill rolls out in Sui’s SoHo flagship, O’Neill stores, Tilly’s and Macy’s among other retailers Friday, following about a roughly year-long process planning the spring collection.
“It’s such a good fit for both of us,” Sui said. “Both of us excel in prints and they were good at taking my touches of lace or crochet and adapting it for more of the surf lifestyle, but anyone could also wear them in the city.”
Flowing dresses mixed with crocheted bathing suits and twists on some of Sui’s popular prints mark the collaboration, with all pieces retailing for under $ 100.
Anna Sui for O’Neill infuses more gypsy-inspired detailing, darker colors and embroidery for fall with the designer’s favorite piece being a romper.
The collaboration marks the first time O’Neill has worked with a major designer, according to design director Rachael Hill, and it looks to perhaps be the catalyst of more.
The company is now in talks with another women’s designer on its next collaboration, Hill said.

The Last Five Years Official Trailer #1 (2015) – Anna Kendrick Movie HD

THE LAST FIVE YEARS by Tony award winning composer/lyricist Jason Robert Brown is a musical deconstruction of a love affair and a marriage taking place over a five year period. Jamie Wellerstein is a young, talented up and coming novelist who falls in love with Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress. Their story is told almost entirely through songs using an intercutting time line device; all of Cathy’s songs begin at the end of their marriage and move backwards in time to the beginning of their love affair while Jamie’s songs start at the beginning of their affair and move forward to the end of their marriage. Its beautiful pop music score portrays an honest, heartbreaking, often funny, exploration of love and it’s consequences on individual identity.

Jerry immediately takes a liking to Fiona and excitedly goes home to tell his pets about her. And surprisingly, they answer. Sweet Anna Marie

Sweet Anna Marie

Sweet Anna Marie Warning: This eBook is intended for mature audiences only. It contains sexually explicit scenes and adult language. If you are someone that is easily offended, I strongly recommend you stop reading and go back to your boring, dull, inconsequential life. BUT? if you enjoy life, yourself, and pleasure, please feel free to keep reading and enjoy the hard work I have put into these pages. This eBook is for sale to adults, only, as defined by the laws of the country in which you made your purchase. None of these stories are true, they are all works of my imagination, any and all names, actions, and stories have been fabricated from my subconscious. Anna Marie is your ideal babysitter. The kids like her, she likes kids, and she has the patience to carry on the job. In fact, she enjoys babysitting so much that it shows. Many parents that have been her bosses in the past will never forget her impeccable service and the way she took care of kids. Aside from babysitting, Anna Marie is a young geek programmer. She?s the silent techie one and knows how to go around gadgets and stuff. She may be the young woman in pastel colored cashmere sweaters and skinny jeans and red sneakers. However, when it comes to computers and wirings, she?s like a man-pro.

Why Anna Kendrick Purposely Threw Out A Pair Of Diamond Earrings

Anna Kendrick is one of the most charming, lovable celebrities out there, and we are so lucky to get a chance to hear her be funny and to see her be talented. Those are facts. Another fact, according to Anna herself, is that sometimes fans get a hold of her home address and then send her gifts there. And she promptly throws those gifts away, no matter how fancy they are.

Why Chris Pratt And Anna Faris Can’t Get It On To Marvin Gaye

Once upon a time, Chris Pratt tried to make a sexy mix tape for him and wife Anna Faris. Unfortunately, it didn’t really get either of them in the mood.

We learned this on Wednesday when the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star told BuzzFeed Brews with “CBS This Morning” that he tried to make a playlist with songs by Al Green and Marvin Gaye, “but like, three minutes into the song, we were like, ‘OK, this shit is just corny.’”

Pratt also told host Whitney Jefferson that the music didn’t work because it didn’t match his, uh, preferred lovemaking tempo.

“I’m more of a ‘Everybody Dance Now,‘” he said. “I put in some C&C Music Factory, get the job done.”

Yet another reason to love this guy. Watch the video below.

Anna Kendrick & Rebel Wilson Are Coming Back For ‘Pitch Perfect 2’

Let’s be honest, no one is surprised by this news: Universal announced on Thursday that Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson will reprise their roles in the upcoming sequel to “Pitch Perfect.” Elizabeth Banks is set to direct the new film from a script by original writer Kay Cannon.

“Pitch Perfect 2” was announced back in January. When HuffPost Entertainment spoke with Kendrick shortly after the news broke, she played coy about her involvement. “I wish I knew. I wish there was a script,” Kendrick said. “But I really do [want to be in it]. I’m like banging down the doors.”

The Met’s Costume Institute Is Now The Anna Wintour Costume Center (Yes, Really)

In case you had any question as to who runs the American fashion industry…

The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced on Tuesday that it has officially renamed the museum space occupied by The Costume Institute, its fashion and costume history wing, the Anna Wintour Costume Center. No, we’re not kidding. Women’s Wear Daily reports that the expanded space will include the current Costume Institute exhibition galleries, plus a library, conservation laboratory and “research areas.” (The curatorial department will still be called The Costume Institute.)

Those have also been named in honor of major Met supporters, including the Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch Gallery and the Carl and Iris Barrel Apfel Gallery. But we all know who really runs the show around those parts.

Wintour has been a highly visible supporter of the Met’s fashion wing for years, most famously through her annual fundraising blowout, the Met Gala. (WWD reports her efforts have raised about $ 125 million for The Costume Institute over the past 20 years.) The gala has become the most anticipated and well-attended social event of the year in New York City, jokingly called “the Oscars of fashion” (but let’s be honest, the Met Gala has an even better guest list — think the Oscars’ celebs plus every designer and model in the biz).

Now Anna’s imprint will be even more prominent. The Met’s director and chief executive officer, Thomas Campbell, tells WWD, “When you walk into The Costume Institute… you will see ‘Anna Wintour Costume Center’ in bold, bold letters above the staircase.” You can see the big change come May 8, when the Costume Institute’s annual exhibit is unveiled. The theme this year is “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” — but we have a feeling Charles James might be a little overshadowed by a slightly more famous industry name.

Anna’s party is the only one worth going to:

Anna Gunn To Guest Star On ‘The Mindy Project’

Anna Gunn is trading in a meth empire for scrubs and will guest star on “The Mindy Project,” E! Online reports. She’ll be playing Mindy’s (Mindy Kaling) hero, Sheila Hamilton, a New York OB/GYN who tries to woo her from her current residency at Shulman & Associates.

Gunn, who recently won an Emmy for her role as Skyler White on the AMC series “Breaking Bad,” will appear in the 13th episode this season. It will be her first acting gig since the show’s finale, and viewers can safely assume her time on “The Mindy Project” will be less dramatic than her role on “Breaking Bad.”

Since beginning its second season back in September, “The Mindy Project” has already welcomed a number of guest stars such as James Franco, Adam Pally (the “Happy Endings” star has since become a series regular) and Timothy Olyphant. However, after Gunn’s role in one of the most talked about shows in recent television history, and on the heels of her Emmy win, this is a coup for “The Mindy Project.”

“The Mindy Project” airs Tues. at 9:30 p.m. EST on Fox.
