Bill Clinton Pinch Hits for Chelsea at Mother’s Day Luncheon

When the pinch hitter at the 40th annual Mother’s Day Luncheon happens to be Bill Clinton, the 42nd U.S. president, one can’t be too disappointed.
His daughter, Chelsea Clinton, one of the recipients of the Outstanding Mother Awards, was stuck in Omaha, Neb., and couldn’t get a plane out, so her father happily obliged to accept the award on her behalf.
Clinton told some endearing stories about his daughter, who is vice chair of the Clinton Foundation.
“Here’s what I’d like you to know about my child. In some ways she had a remarkably privileged upbringing though we weren’t wealthy by conventional standards until I got out of the White House. I had the lowest net worth of any president ever elected since World War II. I was governor for 12 years, but it was always tough,” said Clinton. He explained that Chelsea started reading the newspaper at six years old and he was in a very hot reelection campaign, and she read things that people were saying about him.
“So I talked to Hillary at breakfast every morning in the election year — 1986 — and we turned it into a political debate. Three people were running and people were saying I was

FIT Seeks to Revoke Bill Cosby’s Honorary Degree

FIT LOOKS TO REVOKE COSBY’S HONORARY DEGREE: The Fashion Institute of Technology seeks to join the growing list of universities that have rescinded Bill Cosby’s honorary degrees.
After consulting with a representative committee of its community, FIT on Monday recommended to the State University of New York — of which FIT is a part — that the degree be rescinded.
A decision by SUNY is expected on Wednesday.
The FIT committee agreed that Cosby’s conviction on Friday for aggravated sexual assault undermines the accomplishments that were cited for awarding the honorary degree and is injurious to the reputation of SUNY and the college. That behavior is inconsistent with the values embraced by FIT, as well as with those upheld by SUNY.
The degree was conferred in 2000 in recognition of Cosby’s professional accomplishments and long before allegations regarding his sexual misconduct were widely known. This is the first time that FIT has recommended that an honorary degree be revoked.
Universities that have recently revoked Cosby’s honorary degrees include Johns Hopkins University, Notre Dame, Carnegie Mellon University, Boston College, and Cosby’s alma mater, Temple University. More than a dozen schools, including Ohio State, Fordham, University of Pennsylvania, Oberlin, Swarthmore College and Marquette University had already revoked

Tom Brady’s choice for his draft heir got Bill Belichick to crack

Lamar Jackson hopes to begin a long and accomplished NFL career beginning Thursday night at the draft, but he may have his biggest feat already wrapped up. The Louisville quarterback had a pair of pre-draft visits with the Patriots, including a trip to their facility, where he met with the typically stern head coach. “We were just talking, having a conversation and he was just giggling,” said Jackson, who didn’t remember how he got Belichick to crack. While Jackson is not in the group of the top-four quarterbacks — Josh Allen, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield and Josh Rosen — bunched at the top of most draft boards, his stock has seemed to rise recently with more reports linking him to the Patriots, who have picks No. 23 and 31.

Bill Belichick won’t like reason Tom Brady is staying away from Patriots

Little by little, it adds up. A day of missing a team workout program is becoming a more prolonged absence. The time away is being spent with a foe of the team. Another star contemplates retirement, and won’t come near the team in the meantime, as long as it’s not mandatory. And within the rigid, tightly monitored system that Bill Belichick lords over, the cracks appear. The drama, as it always seems around the Patriots, resides in subtlety. The latest passive-aggression is a report out of ESPN that Tom Brady will not be a “regular participant” in the team’s offseason program, even after he returns from his trip to Qatar. The trip, for his charity, was his reason for missing the start of the

Pennywise vs. the Joker: It’s Bill Skarsgard Compares and Contrasts His Terrifying Performance to Heath Ledger’s

They both played infamously evil clowns, but It’s Bill Skarsgard sees some major differences between his Pennywise and Heath Ledger’s Joker from The Dark Knight.

“I think the biggest difference between Pennywise and the Joker character — or at least Heath Ledger’s interpretation — is that he’s far more based in reality,” Skarsgard, 27, tells PEOPLE.

“ is sort of this social anarchist, crazy person, and I don’t think Pennywise is the same in that way. He’s not even human, he’s just pure evil,” he adds.

The boyishly handsome Skarsgard, son of acclaimed actor Stellan, and younger brother to fellow actors Gustav and Alexander, is unrecognizable as Stephen King’s Pennywise the Dancing Clown from his 1987 novel It.

In the book, which gained further popularity after it was adapted into a 1990 TV series starring Tim Curry, Pennywise is an otherworldly force of evil that feeds on children in the fictional town of Derry, Maine.

But Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight had bigger plans than just eating and scaring the bejeezus out of little kids. His version of the Batman villain, which earned him a posthumous Oscar, was hellbent on creating chaos, upsetting the social order and of course, killing “the Batman.”

For Skarsgard, Pennywise’s motivations are “less crazy” than the Joker’s plan to turn an entire city against itself. Not that his clown is a jolly Bozo either: “Of course, Pennywise is still dark and sinister — and he’s going after kids.”

While the characters have their differences, both Ledger and Skarsgard worked tirelessly to transform themselves. “Where I went with it was like, ‘What’s the most horrible thing that could happen here?’ And then I’d do that,” Skarsgard explains. “You need to access parts of yourself where you’re thinking about what’s the most disturbing or horrifying , and then you have to commit to that.”

Skarsgard admits he had nightmares for weeks after It wrapped, saying, “It was very strange, it was almost like a really slow exorcism to completely let go of him.”

After Ledger’s death in 2008 from an accidental prescription drug overdose, rumors abounded that he “was taken down this dark spiral path to the depths of depression from his role as the Joker,” as I Am Heath Ledger producer and co-director Derik Murray told USA Today.

But his family and friends have vehemently dismissed the rumor. “Honestly, that’s been the biggest thing for us as a family,” Kate Ledger, Heath’s older sister, told the outlet. “He had an amazing sense of humor and certainly playing the Joker, for him it was one big gag. He had so much fun doing that. It was actually the exact opposite. There was no doom and gloom. … That was a shock to me that people even thought that, really.”

Despite Skarsgard’s bad dreams, he says, “I did have so much fun with the character, and I’m really looking forward to getting back under that clown makeup for the sequel.”

Woman Who Accused Bill Cosby of Sexually Assaulting Her at Playboy Mansion Arrested on Heroin Charges

A woman who accused Bill Cosby of sexually assaulting her in 2008 was arrested on Sunday after allegedly bringing heroin to a California jail, reports say.

Chloe Goins, 27, faces charges of possessing a controlled substance and bringing alcohol or drugs in prison after police allegedly found her outside the George F. Bailey Detention Center in Otay Mesa with a drug believed to be heroin in her car, The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

She was booked into the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility on $ 25,000 bail, according to NBC San Diego. It wasn’t immediately clear if she has entered a plea or retained an attorney.

Goins was parked outside the jail that night when a deputy approached her about an alleged vehicle violation, a police spokesman told the Associated Press.

It is unclear Goins went into the buildings with the drugs police allege she had, the official said.

Judge Declares Mistrial in Bill Cosby Sexual Assault Case After Jury Says They Are ‘Hopelessly Deadlocked’

The model alleged that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her at a Playboy Mansion party in 2008 when she was 18. She claimed she felt dizzy and sick to her stomach after Cosby allegedly gave her a drink. She alleged the embattled comedian escorted her to a room where she lost consciousness before waking up with her clothes off to find Cosby biting one of her toes.

• Want to keep up with the latest crime coverage? Click here to get breaking crime news, ongoing trial coverage and details of intriguing unsolved cases in the True Crime Newsletter.

Cosby denied the allegations. Goins ultimately dropped her civil suit against him.

Goins was just one of dozens of women who accused Cosby of sexual misconduct; Cosby has denied all the allegations. He stood trial earlier this year after being accused of drugging and sexually assaulting former Temple University employee Andrea Constand at his Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, mansion in January 2004.

In June, a Pennsylvania judge granted a mistrial after the jury had announced that they were “hopelessly deadlocked” for the second time in the trial — the first trial ended with a hung jury.

A judge has since scheduled a retrial to begin on Nov. 6.

Bill Clinton Zings Trump Administration At Alec Baldwin Roast

Former President Bill Clinton on Sunday jabbed at the Trump administration during a Spike TV celebration of actor Alec Baldwin that was taped to be broadcast in July.

The former president and other celebrities, including Tracy Morgan and Robert De Niro, were primarily on hand at Apollo Theater in New York City to toast and roast Baldwin, a Donald Trump critic whose impersonation of the president helped pump the ratings of “Saturday Night Live” in the past year. But Clinton ribbed the Republicans in charge as well, USA Today reports.

“I wouldn’t know an alternative fact if it hit me in the face,” Clinton said, using a phrase popular with the Trump administration.

He later described Baldwin’s political inclinations from elementary school through college.

“He ended up going to George Washington University for two years, ran for student-body president and came back home to New York, where he followed the then-classic path, from politics to the soap operas,” Clinton said. “And now we know it works the other way around. You need to think about running again — you’ll probably win the next time.”

The “One Night Only: Alec Baldwin” special will air July 9 on Spike.

Bill Maher On GOP Health Care Bill: ‘Behold, A Turd!’

Bill Maher was an equal opportunity political offender during Friday night’s monologue on “Real Time.” Between the Republicans’ secret health care bill and the “losing” Democrats, no one was safe from his savage burns.

Maher dug right in to “lame” Democrats first in an attempt to understand how Jon Ossoff lost the special election in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District even after the party poured so much money into his campaign.

“He came so close,” Maher quipped. “Party leaders are calling it a terrifying brush with success.”

The comedian begged Democrats to stop losing elections because “the wrong people are in power.” Then, he turned his attention to the so-called “wrong people” by tearing apart the release of the Senate Republican’s secretive health care bill.

“Everybody is saying it was unveiled — unveiled is not the right term,” Maher said. “You unveil a sculpture. Nobody goes, ‘Behold, a turd!’”

The comedian highlighted the darkest items on the bill, which he called “a manifesto from the Zodiac Killer.”

It makes deep cuts to Medicaid, it allows states to drop protections established by Obamacare for people with pre-existing conditions and, Maher explained, “just for spite, it defunds Planned Parenthood.”

“No more gynecological exams,” he added. “Although Trump says he’s still available to grab pussies.”

Maher ended his rant on the health care bill with a grim warning: “Do not kid yourself. This will pass. Republicans get shit done.”

Find out the GOP’s strategy for pushing their bill along in the full segment above.

Celebrities React To Bill Cosby Mistrial With Total Indignation

Bill Cosby stands accused by 60 women of sexual misconduct in alleged incidents that span decades.

On Saturday morning, he might have been convicted for one: the case of Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee who accuses the embattled comedian of molesting her after giving her drugs at his home in 2004.

The charges against Cosby, three felony counts, carried a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. But after 12 jurors became deadlocked in their deliberations, a Pennsylvania judge declared the case a mistrial. Prosecutors reportedly intend to seek retrial of the case, but the result is a blow to Cosby’s many accusers and women like them who too often face uphill battles in their fight for justice after reporting sex crimes.

Soon after, Lena Dunham, Judd Apatow, Ru Paul and others spoke out on social media, seemingly united in their criticisms of the outcome.

Celebrity attorney Lisa Bloom also offered her encouragement for sexual assault survivors:

Bill Cosby Isn’t The Exception, He’s The Rule

After 52 hours of deliberations, the jury in the criminal case brought against Bill Cosby by Andrea Constand was unable to reach a unanimous consensus. On Saturday morning, Judge Steven O’Neill declared a mistrial.

Constand says that, in 2004, Cosby tricked her into taking three blue pills that incapacitated her and proceeded to sexually assault her. In December 2015, nearly 10 years after settling a civil suit with Constand in 2006 for an undisclosed sum, Cosby was charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault.

Although Cosby wasn’t acquitted, and Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said that he planned to retry the case, a mistrial is unquestionably a win for the 79-year-old actor and comedian. A retrial will take time ― and it means that Constand will have to testify about her trauma again.

Journalist Dana DiFilippo tweeted a video of Cosby supporters celebrating after the mistrial was announced:

Before the Cosby trial began, justice felt somewhat inevitable. Because in a situation like this one, it just feels like it should be.

A man is publicly accused of sexually assaulting nearly 60 women over the course of decades. The stories are explicit, horrifying and similar. Many of them involve drugging and brutal rape. Together, they paint a picture of a serial and methodical sexual predator who used his celebrity to exploit women.

As far as the court of public opinion is concerned, Bill Cosby’s guilt was all but decided in late 2014, when the floodgates opened and women’s stories began pouring out on what felt like a near-daily basis. And it felt like, for the first time, people were listening

Of course, this was before the country had collectively propped up a man who bragged about grabbing women’s pussies without consent to our highest office. It was before more than 15 women had publicly accused a candidate for President of the United States of sexual assault with little to no tangible impact on his support.

In the cases of both Cosby and Trump, we’re reminded that women are viewed as unreliable narrators of their own experiences, and that powerful men who are accused of perpetrating sexual violence ― even by more than a dozen women ― are assumed to be victims.

Barbara Bowman, one Cosby’s alleged victims who has been telling her story publicly since 2006, wrote about this phenomenon in an op-ed for The Washington Post in November 2014, after a Hannibal Burress joke about Cosby seemingly woke people up to the reality of his past:

Why wasn’t I believed? Why didn’t I get the same reaction of shock and revulsion when I originally reported it? Why was I, a victim of sexual assault, further wronged by victim blaming when I came forward? The women victimized by Bill Cosby have been talking about his crimes for more than a decade. Why didn’t our stories go viral?

Two and a half years later, their stories have gone viral. But the legal outcome remains uncertain.

The lack of a guilty verdict in this case speaks to the challenges that any alleged victim of sexual assault faces when seeking recourse through the criminal justice system.

There are the statutes of limitations that prevent victims who wait to speak out from seeking criminal charges. There’s the lack of sensitivity training in some police departments. There’s the backlog of rape kits. There’s the difficult-to-prosecute “he said, she said” nature of many sex crimes. There are the questions victims of sexual assault know that they’ll likely be asked: “Why didn’t you report it sooner?” “Why did you talk to him after?” “Were you drinking?” “What were you wearing?” “Were you maybe kind of asking for it?”

Not only are sexual assaults underreported, but according to RAINN, just 7 out of every 1,000 rapists will see a felony conviction. That statistic doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

Cosby may have had significantly more money and fame and press coverage than most alleged perpetrators of sexual assault and rape. It would be easy to assume that his celebrity is what protected him, that Andrea Constand would have gotten justice if her rapist were anyone else besides “America’s Dad.” But statistically, she wouldn’t have. In many ways, his situation was the exception but at the end of the day, he’s the rule.

Bill Maher’s Ex-Girlfriend Has Advice For Him On Using A Racial Slur

An ex-girlfriend has a recommendation for Bill Maher whenever the “Real Time” host next ponders using a racial slur: Don’t.

Coco Johnsen, a model who dated Maher in the early 2000s, told TMZ Wednesday that anyone who uses the slur is “very insensitive” and had specific advice for her former beau.

Just use another word next time,” said Johnsen, who is black. “I’m sure that he’s learned his lesson. Maybe a little sensitivity training at the NAACP could do some use.”

A TMZ interviewer attempted to pin down whether Maher used the word around Johnsen, who later sued the comic for palimony, but she didn’t take the bait.

Last week on his show, Maher jokingly referred to himself as a “house n****r” in a talk with Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.). The comedian apologized after intense backlash that resulted in Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) canceling his scheduled appearance on the show.

In 2005, a judge dismissed Johnsen’s $ 9 million suit claiming Maher had promised to marry her and support her lifestyle.

Ice Cube Will Still Make His Appearance On Bill Maher This Week

On Monday, a spokesperson for Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) told HuffPost that he would be dropping out of his upcoming appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher” amid the host’s recent controversy. Now, a representative for Ice Cube has confirmed that the musician will not be canceling his own appearance for this Friday’s episode.

“Ice Cube will still appear on Bill Maher this Friday as scheduled to talk about the release of ‘Death Certificate: 25th Anniversary’ edition, an album that was recorded in the wake of the Rodney King beating in 1991, which sadly, speaks to many of the same race issues that we as a society are still dealing with today,” the spokesperson for Ice Cube told HuffPost over email.

This comes after a TMZ report early this morning claimed Ice Cube would not bail on the appearance. The apparent reason was so that he could have a part in discussing the controversy.

During Maher’s show last Friday, the host joked that he was a “house n****r” while responding to a statement by Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.). While in conversation, the senator had invited Maher to “work in the fields” of his represented state. In a rare move for the comedian, Maher later apologized and called his use of the term “offensive.”

Ice Cube is the second person to indicate he would still appear on “Real Time.”

Symone Sanders, an activist and former national press secretary for Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, told HuffPost she also plans to attend.

“I am still planning on doing the show Friday,” she wrote in an email. “I thought Maher’s comment, Ben Sasse’s reaction and the crowd’s applause were all equally distasteful, inappropriate and offensive. I am glad Maher too recognized as such and issued an apology.”

Sen. Franken chose to cancel his upcoming appearance given the use of the “n-word.”

“Senator Franken believes that what Bill Maher said was inappropriate and offensive, which is why he made the decision not to appear on the next episode of ‘Real Time,’” Franken’s spokesperson had said in an emailed statement. “He was glad to see Bill, who the Senator considers to be a good friend, apologize and express sincere regret for his comment.”

Accused By Dozens, Bill Cosby Heads To Trial Over Single Incident

Bill Cosby’s long-awaited criminal trial on charges that he drugged and molested a friend in his home begins Monday in Norristown, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia.

The 79-year-old comedy legend faces three counts of aggravated indecent assault involving a 2004 visit to his suburban home by Andrea Constand. If convicted, he faces up to a decade behind bars.

Constand, who worked for the Temple University women’s basketball team, claimed that Cosby inappropriately touched her after she took a pill he said would help her relax. Cosby, who’s pleaded not guilty, has claimed he provided her with Benadryl and that they had a consensual encounter.

It was only a couple of years ago that Cosby held the status of a respected elder in the entertainment industry. He was an early mainstream African-American star, remembered fondly for his clean stand-up comedy act and a string of television programs from the 1960s to 1990s, including “I Spy” and the top-rated “The Cosby Show.”  But he’s largely kept out of sight since at least 60 women have accused Cosby of drugging, sexually assaulting or initiating unwanted contact with them, according to The Washington Post.

Despite the volume of accusations, only Constand’s complaint yielded a criminal case. Investigators have cited the statute of limitations and lack of evidence in declining to file charges over alleged incidents that span half a century.

As the trial neared, Cosby participated in limited interviews with a black newspapers group and satellite radio host Michael Smerconish. Cosby told Smerconish that the dozens of accusers were “piling on” and that racism “could be” a factor affecting his case. His daughter, Evin Cosby, became part of the public relations campaign by writing an essay last month that defended her father against “the cruelty of the media.”

Still, most public support for Cosby has evaporated, according to Angela Nelson, an associate professor in Bowling Green State University’s department of popular culture.

“It has not helped at all. People said: ‘You are a hypocrite,’” Nelson said.

In recent court appearances, Cosby has used a cane and often had help walking. He’s reportedly in failing health and losing his sight.

A previous district attorney investigated Constand’s claims and declined to charge Cosby. In turn, Constand sued and eventually reached an undisclosed settlement with Cosby.

A deposition from the lawsuit is hotly contested evidence in the criminal trial. Judge Stephen O’Neill has ruled that jurors can hear excerpts in which Cosby admitted that he’d given Quaaludes to women while sexually pursuing them. The defense sought to block the deposition, saying that Cosby answered the questions only because then-District Attorney Bruce Castor agreed not to press charges.

“His deposition testimony is really the most damaging because it does really corroborate the witness’s testimony,” Delaware Law School professor Judith Ritter said, referring to Constand.

The defense and prosecution had also argued over how many other accusers may testify against Cosby. O’Neill decided that only one accuser, known as Prior Alleged Victim Six in court filings, may testify about an alleged assault in 1996. Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele, who campaigned by promising to prosecute Cosby, had wanted to present the accusations of 13 women.

Perhaps most important will be Constand’s testimony. She waited until 2005 to lodge a complaint against Cosby, but until then they had continued some contact. Ritter expects the defense to focus on these points.

“It will be so much about how it comes across to the jury,” said Ritter. “If she stands up under cross-examination, they [the prosecution] have a really good chance at prevailing.”

Cosby is not expected to take the stand in the trial, which is expected to last about two weeks.

The jury is made up of seven men and five women, Two jurors are black and the rest are white. The jury was chosen from Pittsburgh after the defense argued it would be too difficult to find impartial jurors in Montgomery County.

Michael Moore Recalls The Time Bill O’Reilly Accosted Him On The Street

Michael Moore is feeling pretty good after Bill O’Reilly was dumped by Fox News following multiple allegations of sexual harassment.

On Thursday, while speaking after a special screening of his 2002 film “Bowling for Columbine” at the Tribeca Film Festival, the Moore recalled how O’Reilly once randomly accosted him on the street.

Moore told the audience of one time when O’Reilly was “passing me by on the street in a limo, sees me, tells the driver to screech to a halt, and he jumps out of the car, yelling at me. Someone happened to capture a picture of the moment. Look at O’Reilly’s face ― it’s the scariest frikkin’ thing. But I’m still standing and he’s not,” he said.

Yes, there’s somehow photographic evidence of such an event, which Moore tweeted out on Wednesday.

Moore famously went head-to-head with O’Reilly after the release of Moore’s 2004 documentary “Fahrenheit 9/11,” in which the former Fox News host began the interview by asking Moore, “You want to apologize to the president now or later?”

Bill Maher Brutally Sums Up What Republicanism Has Become Under Donald Trump

Bill Maher pulled no punches Friday when analyzing the way the GOP has changed under the presidency of Donald Trump.

The “Real Time” host said that “much of what Republicans have done since Trump took over isn’t moving the party in a more conservative direction.”

Their policies weren’t even pushing it in a libertarian direction, Maher noted, before dubbing GOP lawmakers’ actions as “dick moves.”

Maher cited their plans to reverse the ban on lead ammunition, allow the use of a pesticide known to damage children’s brains and scrap an Obama-era deal which forced vehicles to become more fuel-efficient as examples.

The late night host then summarized what he believed Republicanism had now become — “looking at any problem and saying, ‘What would a dick do?’”

Bill Maher Just Made A Very Serious Point About The Trump Administration ‘Circus’

Bill Maher warned people not to get distracted by the circus surrounding President Donald Trump’s administration on Friday.

The “Real Time” host admitted it was “fun to watch the wheels come off the Trump car” — using the president’s 77-minute “brain fart” of a news conference the previous day as an example. But it was only amusing “until we remember we’re riding in the back,” said Maher. “Then it’s not so fucking fun any more.”

Maher described the touting of Sarah Palin, the 2008 vice presidential candidate and former Alaska governor, as ambassador to Canada as merely one of several distraction tactics.

“While you’re watching the clown screw the pony, they’re breaking into your car,” said Maher.

As examples of the things people are being distracted away from, he cited the confirmation of the Environmental Protection Agency’s longtime adversary Scott Pruitt as its new chief and Michael Flynn’s resignation as national security adviser amid allegations he discussed U.S. sanctions against Russia with the Russian ambassador in the weeks before Trump took office.

Bill Maher Lets ‘Impish Brit’ Milo Yiannopoulos Off Easy

The much-anticipated appearance between Bill Maher and Milo Yiannopoulos on HBO’s “Real Time” came off more like a mutual admiration society. At one point, the host even rather warmly referred to the white nationalist as an “impish, British fag.”

“You are the only good [liberal], literally the only good one,” Yiannopoulos gushed Friday night to Maher.

“I think you’re colossally wrong on a number of things,” said Maher, smiling. Yiannopoulos replied, “And that’s OK.”

Maher did stress that he does have a problem with Yiannopoulos attacking certain people. The standard bearer of the self-described “alt-right” movement, who forged his reputation on Breitbart.com when White House chief strategist Steve Bannon was editor, is known for his vicious diatribes against minorities, immigrants, women, and the LGBTQ community, including a disturbing verbal attack on a trans woman in the audience at a talk at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. An appearance at the University of California at Berkeley this month to plug his upcoming book was cancelled after violent protests broke out. A day after President Donald Trump then threatened to cut off federal funds for the university.

The host did raise Yiannopoulus’ contradictions — that he’s a rabid right-winger while also being gay. “Spoiler alert!” added Maher. Yiannopoulos shot back, smiling playfully with strings of pearls around his neck, “Come on, you can do better than that. What tipped you off?”

He currently has a black lover and once a Muslim lover, he told Maher, as if to counter claims he’s racist or Islamophobic.

“You’ve spoken out against all these people,” Maher noted. “You’ve said you won’t hire gay people.”

“Oh nooo,” Yiannopoulos said. “You can’t trust them to show up to work on time. Too much sex, too much drugs …. always making excuses. Not as bad as women.” That netted him the first boos from the generally giggling audience. “Just kidding,” he said, turning to the audience. “You’re easy … you’re very easily triggered. It’s pathetic,” he added.

Yiannopoulos said he doesn’t know if he is actually a conservative. “All I care about is free speech and free expression,” he insisted.

But he did complain that most liberalism has gone off the deep end. “Your side has gone insane,” he told Maher. “The Democrats are the party of Lena Dunham. These people are mental, hideous people.” He then attacked comedians Amy Schumer and Sarah Silverman. “These people used to be funny before they contracted feminism,” Yiannopoulos said.

He also groused about the “authoritarian” “policing of humor for racism and sexism,” which he called “utterly wrongheaded.” Such humor is “how we build bridges, not how we break them,”

“The reason [liberals] want to police humor is they can’t control it — because the one thing all authoritarians hate is the sound of laughter,” he added.

Yiannopoulos skewered “Ghostbusters” andSaturday Night Live” star Leslie Jones, whom he not only viciously attacked on Twitter but also “rallied and directed” hundreds of other users to attack using racist language after the film was released. The microblogging site subsequently banned him for hate speech.

“I simply don’t accept that the star of a Hollywood blockbuster is sitting in a Hollywood mansion crying over mean words on the internet. Get over it,” he snapped. “Mean words on the internet don’t hurt anyone.”

As for himself, the self-proclamied “virtuous troll” said he loves to be attacked. “I get off on it,” he said. “I’m a little broken.”

Maher said that some would say his words incite violence. Yiannopoulos retorted, “Then they would be idiots.” He also attacked journalist Jeremy Scahill for refusing to come on Maher’s show when he found out the alt-right mouth would also be there. “That silly man who had a hissy fit … if you don’t show up to debate, you lose,” Yiannopoulos said.

Scahill issued a statement when he backed out of the program that Yiannopoulos “has ample venues to spew his hateful diatribes.” “There is no value in debating him,” Scahill said. “Appearing on ‘Real Time’ will provide Yiannopoulos with a large, important platform to openly advocate his racist, anti-immigrant campaign.”

Maher only threw a couple of Yiannopoulos’ controversial attacks back in his face including his positions that “black lives matter is a hate group” and “there’s no such thing as white privilege.” But it seemed a lackluster effort and Yiannopoulos let it pass.

The comedian instead scolded liberals. “Stop taking the bait, liberals,” he said, before delivering the “impish British” quip. He then read some cutting jokes from the late Joan Rivers to show, apparently, that Yiannopoulos isn’t all that bad.

But Maher did urge Milo to “get off the Trump train” because he’s not appropriate for someone purported to be free-speech advocate. But Yiannopoulos responded, “He’s fabulous!”

“[The organizers] said to me, ‘can you get into runway mode?’” said Simon Doonan, creative ambassador at large at Barneys, who sported a navy Theory blazer backstage at The Blue Jacket Fashion Show Wednesday night. “And I said, I’m always in runway mode. My problem is not being able to get out of runway mode.”

Bill Maher Wants To ‘Make America Learn Again’ This Valentine’s Day

Bill Maher wants just one thing this Valentine’s DayAnd that’s to “Make America Learn Again.”

On Friday’s broadcast of “Real Time,” Maher said “one of the saddest things” about the America that people now live in is that “we don’t seem to want smart people in our lives any more.”

“Smart presidents? Can’t have that. Scientists? What do they know? Newspaper editors? Liars, fake news!” he quipped.

More people now get their news from their Facebook feeds “by sharing, or as it used to be called, hearsay” than newspapers, Maher continued. Given that, he asked whether “this Valentine’s Day, can we please fall in love with knowledge again?”

Bill Maher Hopes The Patriots Lose The Super Bowl, Because Of Donald Trump

Bill Maher is rooting for the Atlanta Falcons at the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Not because he’s from Atlanta or is a longtime fan of the team, but because they’re up against the New England Patriots.

The Falcons are playing a team where the owner, the coach and the star quarterback all love and support Donald Trump,” Maher said on Friday’s broadcast of “Real Time.” “So I’d really like for [The Patriots] to lose by a score of a million fucking thousand to none.”

Maher, a fierce critic of Trump, later lamented how the new POTUS has politicized things that just shouldn’t even be political ― including football.

Bill Maher Has A Very Important Message For People Interviewing Donald Trump

Bill Maher has issued a stark warning to fellow TV hosts who interview President-elect Donald Trump in the upcoming months.

If you are going to have him on, he’s a politician,” Maher said on Wednesday’s broadcast of “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

“I know he’s actually a game show host from Queens, but now he’s the president of the United States, so if you’re going to have him on ― this is everybody ― hold his feet to the fire,” he added. “Don’t let him use you.”

“Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon was accused of letting Trump do just that in September, when he messed up the GOP nominee’s hair during an interview.

Maher was a vocal critic of Trump throughout the presidential election campaign. But the comedian said he would still welcome the former reality television personality onto his show, “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

Although it took Maher eight years to secure an interview with President Barack Obama, he admitted Trump’s “unpredictable” nature could mean the soon-to-be president turns up for his show’s new season, which returns to HBO this Friday.

“What kind of guy is he? That’s the point.” said Maher. “It took me eight years to get Obama; [Trump] could appear on my second show. You don’t know what this guy is doing, which is why I’m sweating like a whore in church.”

Watch the full interview above, and check out the footage below of Maher revealing his No. 1 global concern.

Even Chrissy Teigen Has A Legendary Bill Murray Story

Bill Murray has seemingly spent the last decade or so attempting to establish his place in American lore ― becoming a real-life mythical figure, like a 21st-century Johnny Appleseed.

Did you know Appleseed’s apple trees were more about growing hard, alcoholic cider than eating fruit? Murray’s legend is very boozy as well ― bartending in unexpected places, crashing parties, giving surprise toasts ― and so he really may be well on his way to becoming a story we’ll tell children of future generations: “Child, let me tell you about the time Bill Murray joined RZA and GZA of the Wu-Tang Clan to give thirsty people what they needed.”

In any case, last night yet another entry into the Bill Murray canon emerged, as Chrissy Teigen tweeted her own mysterious encounter.

Apparently, Teigen was at a restaurant when the waiter gave her a plate of half-eaten food, saying it was from “the man at the bar.”

That man was Bill Murray.

The Huffington Post tweeted at Teigen to ask what kind of half-eaten food it was, but did not immediately get a response.

If you have your own Bill Murray stories, please share them with us. We may or may not believe you.

Comedian Jeff Foxworthy Surprises Mother At The Grocery Store By Paying Her Bill

Here’s a touching story to brighten up your Monday morning.

Comedian Jeff Foxworthy paid it forward, literally, over the weekend when he decided to foot the bill for a woman named Robin McFadden at the grocery store.

McFadden told Fox 5 she decided to go “couponing” at the store with her three sons after one of them finished a basketball game.

“I was at the register and between me worrying about my items and the kids fussing, I didn’t even know that Jeff Foxworthy was standing behind me,” she said.

McFadden said that she overheard a man ask the cashier how much cash she needed to cover the bill, which was a total of about $ 25. When she turned around, she realized it was Foxworthy.

“He laughed, walked around me, put his card in the machine and said ‘watch this.’  I told him that he was going to make me cry, gave him a hug, thanked him and took the photo!”

McFadden shared the photo of herself with the comedian on Facebook, writing, “The kids were restless and look who was behind me. He paid for my order when I wasn’t looking! I love Jeff Foxworthy!”

America’s Greatest Democratic Presidents of the 20th Century: Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson and Bill Clinton

The Democrats who were elected president in the 20th century were responsible for a seemingly never ending list of accomplishments. Woodrow Wilson established the blueprint for the progressive presidents that would follow him, particularly Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson, while guiding the nation through World War I. FDR expanded that vision with his New Deal, completely revolutionizing the social contract between Americans and their federal government. While combating the Great Depression and the Axis powers in World War II, FDR has widely been considered one of the greatest presidents in history. When Roosevelt died in April 1945, Vice President Truman, somewhat unprepared for the Presidency, now had to fill some of the biggest shoes in American history. The new president had to usher America through victory in Europe in his first month and decide to drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki a few months later, but the end of World War II produced only the first of many consequential decisions Truman would face during his nearly 8 years in office. As president, Truman would lay the groundwork for the next 50 years of American foreign policy, as the architect of Cold War containment, the man who signed off on the Marshall Plan, and the commander-in-chief during much of the Korean War. In many ways, John Fitzgerald Kennedy and his young family were the perfect embodiment of the 60s. The decade began with a sense of idealism, personified by the attractive Kennedy, his beautiful and fashionable wife Jackie, and his young children. Months into his presidency, Kennedy exhorted the country to reach for the stars, calling upon the nation to send a man to the Mo

The One Thing Bill Maher Loves About Donald Trump

On “Real Time With Bill Maher” Friday night, Maher led a panel discussion about the Republican presidential candidates’ greatest weaknesses, inspired by the question that opened the GOP debate Wednesday.

While Maher has expressed clearly negative feelings about Trump in the past, he did reveal one thing he appreciates about the candidate.

“Trump [was] the only guy who was honest,” Maher said to his panelists. “He said, ‘I don’t forgive.’ I love Trump for that. He’s like, I don’t forgive. You fuck with me, I’m Vito Corleone, I will follow you back to Italy. I will find you in your old age and I will stick a knife in your stomach.'”

Back in September, Maher called out Trump’s ignorant comments about undocumented workers by channeling him in a segment jokingly telling Americans to rally against Australians “taking” our jobs.

“Australia is not sending us its best people,” he said. “They’re bringing drugs — yes, enough for everybody, but still — they’re rapists — OK, not rapists, but they do a lot of fucking — and I assume some are good people.”

Sigh. It’s not too surprising that Maher had trouble finding something about Trump to like.

Eddie Murphy Nails Bill Cosby Joke In Rare Stand-Up Set

Eddie Murphy delivered a rare stand-up set with the very thing he didn’t want to do a few months ago: a Bill Cosby joke.

Murphy received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center on Sunday night, where he took to the stage for his first stand-up performance in 28 years. Back in February, we learned via a tweet from former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Norm Macdonald that Murphy had declined to portray Cosby on the “SNL” 40th anniversary special, not wanting to “kick a man when he is down.”

But Murphy wasn’t holding back on Sunday. “Bill has one of these,” the Oscar-nominated comedian joked, referring to the Mark Twain bust that honorees receive. “Did you all make him give it back?” (Several universities have revoked Cosby’s honorary degrees in the wake of his numerous sexual abuse allegations.)

Murphy then morphed into Cosby’s sing-songy lilt, saying, “I would like to talk to some of the people who feel that I should give back some of my motherf**king trophies.” Continuing in his best “Pudding Pop” voice, a callback to his Cosby impression from his famous 1987 stand-up film ”Raw,” Murphy reportedly said, ”You may have heard recently that I allegedly put the pill in the people’s stomach … If I ever see or meet this Hannibal Buress in person, I am going to try and kill this man!”

Days earlier, Murphy had explained his decision not to do Cosby at the “SNL” anniversary tribute: ”There’s nothing funny about it,” he told The Washington Post. “If you get up there and you crack jokes about him, you’re just hurting people.” But Arsenio Hall, who was at Sunday’s celebration, told the Post that Murphy discussed the potential Mark Twain bit with him and Chris Rock, eventually changing his tune. “[Murphy] said, ‘Because Cosby gonna get sick of this soon, he’s gonna get sick of people hating, and eventually he’s gonna have to say something,’” Hall said of Murphy’s decision. “And we were like, ‘That is funny, man. Are you willing?’”

You can see a snippet of the set around the 2:25 mark in this video from The Associated Press. A full broadcast of the event airs Nov. 23 on PBS.

Eddie Murphy Explains Why He Wouldn’t Portray Bill Cosby On ‘SNL’ Special

Eddie Murphy says he chose not to reprise his famous impression of Bill Cosby on the “Saturday Night Live” 40th anniversary special because he didn’t want to joke about the embattled comedian’s sexual assault scandal.

“It’s horrible,” Murphy told The Washington Post in a lengthy interview published Tuesday. “There’s nothing funny about it. If you get up there and you crack jokes about him, you’re just hurting people. You’re hurting him. You’re hurting his accusers. I was like, ‘Hey, I’m coming back to SNL for the anniversary, I’m not turning my moment on the show into this other thing.'”

Cosby has been accused of sexually assaulting more than 50 women.

Murphy, a former “SNL” cast member, almost appeared in the sketch before changing his mind and deciding to simply give a brief speech instead. He told The Post he “totally understood” why “SNL” wanted to do the bit, which ended up starring current cast member Kenan Thompson as Cosby.

“It was the biggest thing in the news at the time,” Murphy said. “I can see why they thought it would be funny, and the sketch that Norm [Macdonald] wrote was hysterical.”

After the airing of the February special, Macdonald explained in a series of tweets that Murphy declined to play Cosby because “he will not kick a man when he is down.” In response, Cosby released a statement thanking Murphy for his decision.

“I am very appreciative of Eddie and I applaud his actions,” a Cosby spokesperson said.

Bill Maher Thinks GOP Should Listen To Pope Francis On Climate Change

Bill Maher praised Pope Francis’ views on climate change on “Real Time” Friday night.

While admitting to have “mixed feelings” about the pope, the host did appreciate his views on this particular topic, especially in contrast to those held by many Republican representatives in Congress.

“I think it’s just awesome that this pope took on this issue,” Maher said. “I love that Boehner invited him to talk to Congress, and there he was the Grandmaster Flash of crazy non-evidentiary nonsense, lecturing the Republicans on reality.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Maher discussed British Prime Minister David Cameron, Kim Davis and Josh Duggar.

Bill Maher Rips Today’s ‘Sharing Economy’ On ‘Real Time’

It’s probably safe to say you won’t see Bill Maher ride around in an Uber anytime soon. The comedian put the ride-finding app as well as others on blast on Friday, calling out America’s “sharing economy” on “Real Time.”

“Airbnb? You really think anybody really wants to have total strangers living in their apartment for a week? ‘Oh look, someone else’s pubes on my soap. I’m living the dream,'” Maher said.

One major problem with sharing apps is that some of them can put your personal information at risk, though Maher seemed more focused on the financial aspect. The comedian blames outrageous income inequality and greed for the rise in services he says are now replacing people with robots.

“The one thing we’re not sharing are the profits. Somehow they forgot to create an app for that,” he quipped.

“I am not throwing away my shot,” leading man Lin-Manuel Miranda sings again and again and again over the course of Hamilton, the new instant-megahit musical with music, lyrics and book by the same Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda doesn’t waste his shot, for sure, and scores an absolute bull’s-eye. Hamilton is not just an excellent and rousing musical; it brings something new to the musical theatre, and does it so very compellingly that superlatives are in order. I–and I expect just about all my critical colleagues–would tell you to stop reading right now and get yer tickets, except there aren’t likely many to be had for the next year or three.

Alexander Hamilton was heretofore best known as the fellow etched in green on the ten-dollar bill; one of two major Founding Fathers–the other being Benjamin Franklin–who didn’t get to become president; and the patriot who was killed by the then-sitting vice president of the United States, in a duel on a bluff overlooking the Hudson River. (To quote Miranda’s Hamilton: “Everything is legal in New Jersey.”)

The playwright fills in the blanks, showing us an orphan bastard immigrant from the West Indies who underwent Dickensian hardship; emigrated to the colonies just in time for the Revolutionary War; and became General Washington’s “right hand man.” He went on to help formulate the U. S. Constitution and–as President Washington’s Secretary of the Treasury–devise the financial structure of the new nation. Miranda–perhaps to avoid tarring his hero, by association–does not bother to tell us that Hamilton also founded the New York Post.

The magic of Hamilton comes from the manner of Miranda’s storytelling. While the action remains in the proper era (which is roughly 1776-1804), the street-talking characters are not so much founding fathers but founding brothers with up-to-the-minute attitude. (Hamilton from Nevis and the Marquis de Lafayette from France, leading the Continental Army at the decisive Battle of Yorktown, stop to jointly exclaim: “Immigrants! We get the job done!!”)

As one might expect from the author of In the Heights, the new show incorporates a considerable amount of street rhythm and rap. While this was the musical base of In the Heights, Miranda herein displays that he is a top-level musical theatre writer. He utilizes rap for a purpose; it turns out that rapid-paced streams of verbiage are the perfect way to cram tons of necessary exposition into the show, rather than making us sit through speech after speech and book scene after book scene. This is faster, funnier, and far more effective. The music ranges from tuneful to exquisite (as in, particularly, “Helpless” and “Satisfied” for the two leading ladies, and the lullaby “Dear Theodosia”), so no harm done. What’s more, Miranda demonstrates with numbers like King George’s “You’ll Be Back” and the explosively sinuous “Room Where It Happens” that he is an accomplished musical comedy writer, and no mistake.

Hamilton catapults Miranda to the head of the class. While breaking new ground in the melding of theatre and contemporary music, Miranda has also managed to focus the national political spotlight on Broadway, and that’s quite an accomplishment. He is abetted by excellent work from close collaborators Thomas Kail (director), Andy Blankenbuehler (choreography), Alex Lacamoire (orchestrations and musical direction) and designers David Korins, Paul Tazewell and Howell Binkley, all of whom make keen contributions to what is an instant classic.

2015-08-06-1438891144-4515585-HamiltonBway0341rDaveedDiggsasThomasJeffersonandtheensembleofHAMILTON.jpg

Daveed Diggs as Thomas Jefferson in Hamilton. Photo: Joan Marcus

The supporting players are exceptional without exception. Anthony Ramos, Daveed Diggs and Okieriete Onaodowan–as Hamilton’s Revolutionary buddies in the first act, and as his beloved son and two enemies (and future presidents) in the second–offer perfect performances, as does Christopher Jackson as Washington. (Diggs, though, stands out among them, with a marvelous Jefferson.) Hamilton, and Miranda, could hardly find better women in his life than Phillipa Soo (Natasha of The Great Comet) and Renée Elise Goldsberry (of Broadway’s Good People and TV’s “Good Wife”); both offer a stunning display of dramatic singing.

Jonathan Groff (Spring Awakening and “Glee”) is wonderfully droll as King George, who occasionally wanders on to offer malevolent discourse to his colonists (“when push comes to shove, I will send a fully armed battalion to remind you of my love”). Groff, who played more than half of the Hamilton run at the Public Theater, is the only major replacement; patrons who saw the show during the first five weeks downtown had the added treat of seeing Brian d’Arcy James in the role until he left for the new musical at the St. James.

Sharing the spotlight with Miranda is Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr. Odom, who made a powerful Broadway debut in Leap of Faith and appeared on TV’s “Smash,” is Iago to Miranda’s Othello; the author has seen fit, even, to give his villain material as strong as what he has written for himself. Hamilton–the character–is the center of attention, but Odom’s Burr is the musical’s sparkplug. “Talk less, smile more,” he counsels the young Hamilton early on, “don’t let them know what you’re against or what you’re for.” Which is in some ways the model for the modern reactionary politician.

The luckiest person involved, it seems, is Ron Chernow, author of the 2004 biography “Alexander Hamilton.” The book was a best-seller, which was its own reward, but Miranda happened to pick up a copy and latch on to it. Chernow suddenly has a Broadway hit and a major bonanza that he couldn’t have reasonably expected. For that matter, Miranda’s new musical is likely to make Alexander Hamilton more famous–to the public at large–than Presidents Adams and Jefferson combined.

There’s talk in Washington of displacing A. Ham. from the $ 10 greenback; even so, the man seems to have a considerably wider smile this morning. As for Miranda, I don’t recall anyone writing music, lyrics & book and starring in a hit musical since George M. Cohan last gave his regards to Herald Square. Miranda’s demonstration of talent, skill and savvy earn him a well-deserved gold star, and a goldmine too.

Judge Orders Bill Cosby To Give Sworn Deposition In Lawsuit

LOS ANGELES, Aug 5 (Reuters) – U.S. comedian Bill Cosby has been ordered to give a sworn deposition in a lawsuit alleging he sexually abused a 15-year-old girl at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles in 1974.

The order, entered by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge on Tuesday and made public on Wednesday, states that Cosby will submit to questions under oath from the lawyer of his accuser, Judy Huth, on Oct. 9, and that she will answer questions from his attorneys on Oct. 15.

Cosby’s lawyers had sought to compel Huth to give her deposition before the comedian, but the judge sided with Huth in requiring Cosby to go first. (Reporting by Steve Gorman; Editing by Sandra Maler)

Bill Cosby Admitted To Drugging Women In 2005 Deposition

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Bill Cosby admitted in 2005 that he got quaaludes with the intent of giving them to young women he wanted to have sex with, and that he gave the sedative to at least one woman and “other people,” according to documents obtained Monday by The Associated Press.

That woman and a second woman testified in the same case that they knowingly took quaaludes from him, according to the unsealed documents.

The AP had gone to court to compel the release of the documents from the deposition in a sexual abuse lawsuit filed by former Temple University employee Andrea Constand — the first of a cascade of sexual abuse lawsuits against him. Cosby’s lawyers had objected on the grounds that it would embarrass their client.

Cosby settled that lawsuit under confidential terms in 2006. His lawyers in the Philadelphia case did not immediately return phone calls Monday. Constand consented to be identified but did not want to comment, her lawyer said Monday.

Cosby, 77, has been accused by more than two dozen women of sexual misconduct, including allegations by many that he drugged and raped them in incidents dating back more than four decades. Cosby has never been criminally charged, and most of the accusations are barred by statutes of limitations.

Cosby, giving sworn testimony in the lawsuit accusing him of sexual assaulting Constand at his home in Pennsylvania in 2005, said he got seven quaalude prescriptions in the 1970s. The lawyer for Constand asked if he had kept the sedatives through the 1990s — after they were banned — but was frustrated by objections from Cosby’s lawyer.

“When you got the quaaludes, was it in your mind that you were going to use these quaaludes for young women that you wanted to have sex with?” lawyer Dolores M. Troiani asked.

“Yes,” Cosby answered on Sept. 29, 2005.

“Did you ever give any of these young women the quaaludes without their knowledge?”

Cosby’s lawyer again objected, leading Troiani to petition the federal judge to force Cosby to cooperate.

Cosby later said he gave Constand three half-pills of Benadryl, although Troiani in the documents voices doubt that was the drug involved. The two other women who testified on Constand’s behalf said they had knowingly been given quaaludes.

Three of the women accusing Cosby of sexually assaulting them have a defamation lawsuit pending against him in Massachusetts. They allege that he defamed them when his agents said their accusations were untrue. Cosby is trying to get their case thrown out before discovery.

Cosby had fought the AP’s efforts to unseal the testimony, with his lawyer arguing the deposition could reveal details of Cosby’s marriage, sex life and prescription drug use.

“It would be terribly embarrassing for this material to come out,” lawyer George M. Gowen III argued in June. He said the public should not have access to what Cosby was forced to say as he answered questions under oath from the accuser’s lawyer nearly a decade ago.

“Frankly … it would embarrass him, (and) it would also prejudice him in eyes of the jury pool in Massachusetts,” Gowen said.

U.S. District Judge Eduardo Robreno asked last month why Cosby was fighting the release of his sworn testimony, given that the accusations in the Temple woman’s lawsuit were already in the public eye.

“Why would he be embarrassed by his own version of the facts?” Robreno said.

Cosby resigned in December from the board of trustees at Temple, where he was the popular face of the Philadelphia school in advertisements, fundraising campaigns and commencement speeches.

Bill Hudson Fires Back At Kids Oliver And Kate Hudson, Says They’re ‘Dead’ To Him

Bill Hudson, the estranged father of actors Oliver and Kate Hudson, is firing back after his son’s scathing Instagram post with a seething message of his own.

“I had five birth children but I now consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognize Oliver and Kate as my own,” Hudson said in an interview with The Daily Mail.

“I would ask them to stop using the Hudson name,” he continued. “They are no longer a part of my life. Oliver’s Instagram post was a malicious, vicious, premeditated attack. He is dead to me now. As is Kate. I am mourning their loss even though they are still walking this earth.”

The comments come in response to an Instagram post by Oliver Hudson that went viral. The photo, reportedly taken more than 30 years ago, featured the actor and his sister as kids with Bill, and was posted with the caption, “Happy abandonment day… @katehudson.”

Hudson also slammed his ex-wife Goldie Hawn, who he says “poisoned” the kids against him, and expressed dismay at his daughter Kate’s Father’s Day post, which was a picture of her with Kurt Russell, Hawn’s longtime partner. The caption on the post read, “Pa, just simply….. Thank you Happy Fathers Day I love you to the moon and back.”

“It was an intimate shot and, as her father, I found it inappropriate and unsettling,” Hudson said. “I’ll leave it at that.”

Bill Maher Calls College Student A ‘Little Sh*t’ For Criticizing Jerry Seinfeld

Political talk show host Bill Maher called a college writer a “little shit” on his HBO show Friday night for questioning comedian Jerry Seinfeld’s claim that college audiences are too politically correct.

After San Diego State University student Anthony Berteaux, a campus editor-at-large with The Huffington Post, penned an open letter to Jerry Seinfeld telling him he was disheartened that the comedian thinks college audiences are too quick to call jokes racist, sexist or prejudiced, Maher told him to back off during a segment on “Real Time.”

“Now, I sure wouldn’t want to be judged by what I wrote at 20, but stupid though I was in 1976, I wouldn’t have presumed to lecture George Carlin on comedy,” Maher said, referring to the late, famed comedian. “Though I sure wish George was around today to write a letter back to this kid, as only he could. But since he can’t, allow me: Dear you little shit, I’m sure you’re busy with your new letter explaining astrophysics to Stephen Hawking and giving jump shot pointers to Steph Curry, but try to get a clue.”

In an interview with ESPN earlier this month, Seinfeld echoed sentiments expressed by comedians Chris Rock and Larry the Cable Guy about young people taking offense too easily.

“I don’t play colleges, but I hear a lot of people tell me, ‘Don’t go near colleges. They’re so PC,’” Seinfeld said. “[Young people] just want to use these words: ‘That’s racist;’ ‘That’s sexist;’ ‘That’s prejudice.’ … They don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.”

In Berteaux’s open letter, he challenged Seinfeld’s argument and cited Amy Schumer as a comedian whose jokes about sensitive subjects like rape successfully highlight injustices.

“It isn’t so much that college students are too politically correct (whatever your definition of that concept is), it’s that comedy in our progressive society today can no longer afford to be crass, or provocative for the sake of being offensive,” he wrote. “Sexist humor and racist humor can no longer exist in comedy because these concepts are based on archaic ideals that have perpetrated injustice against minorities in the past.”

Bill Nye Announces the 2015 Fun Fun Fun Fest Lineup and Explains the Axis of Fun

Nothing validates a claim quite like hard facts from a scientist, which is why Fun Fun Fun Fest, Austin’s popular cross-genre Indie music festival, hand-picked Bill Nye to announce the 2015 lineup and provide evidence that this fest is, in fact, the most fun in all the land.

Fun Fun Fun X from funfunfunfestival on Vimeo.

Although The Science Guy clearly has the chops to crunch the numbers and appears to be all up in pop culture these days, how exactly did he end up as an ambassador for this fest?

“About 2 years ago, I wanted to find a better way of showing folks that FFF was different than other festivals, because I really believe that it is. It’s not a very credible thought coming from me though,” explains co-founder James Moody. “So we decided to work with a scientist to basically prove, through science, that FFF was special… and scientifically different from everything else out there. Thankfully Bill Nye agreed, likes tacos, and loves Wu-Tang, so here we are. Because science.”

To slam-dunk the case, Nye employs all the tools in his arsenal such as a Wu-Tang Periodic table, a mind-blowing fun equation and “Quantitative Bummer Observation” metrics to explain his conclusion. With the comedy lineup yet to be announced, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him show up on the Yellow stage come November but I don’t have the science to prove it yet.

Check out the video for this year’s lineup and the full demonstration.

On ‘Inside Amy Schumer,’ Bill Nye Confirms The Universe Exists To Guide White Women In Their 20s

On Tuesday night’s “Inside Amy Schumer,” Bill Nye confirmed what we pretty much already knew — the universe only exists to send “cosmic guidance” to white women in their 20s.

Obviously.

Nye explained that while scientists once believed the universe was a “chaotic collection of matter,” recent breakthroughs have led them to understand it’s just basically a “giant dream board on which women pin their wishes.”

Because “if you just put it out into the universe, it will just manifest itself.” You know?

Model Janice Dickinson Sues Bill Cosby For Defamation Over Rape Claims

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Model Janice Dickinson has sued Bill Cosby for defamation over statements by his representatives that called her claims the comedian raped her in 1982 lies.

Dickinson’s lawsuit filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court seeks unspecified damages on defamation, false light and intentional infliction of emotional distress claims. The suit states Dickinson requested a retraction from Cosby about statements calling her allegations, made last year to “Entertainment Tonight,” a lie. An email sent to Cosby’s attorney Martin Singer was not immediately returned. Singer called Dickinson’s claims that Cosby raped her in a Lake Tahoe, California, hotel room in 1982 “false and outlandish” in a letter to The Associated Press last year.

Dickinson’s suit states the denials by Cosby’s camp have caused her embarrassment, humiliation and led to her being re-victimized.

Killer Mike Calls Bill O’Reilly ‘Full Of S***’ On ‘Real Time With Bill Maher’

Killer Mike appeared on “Real Time with Bill Maher” Friday night and was very candid about his opinion of Bill O’Reilly.

“I like Bill O’Reilly as a character,” the Run the Jewels rapper said, prompting the host to laugh. “I hate how white people take him so seriously,” Mike continued. “He’s more full of shit than an outhouse.”

The rapper stuck by his belief that O’Reilly puts up a “fictitious” facade. But Maher disagreed slightly, saying that the political commentator’s temperament was no act. O’Reilly “may be full of shit,” Maher said, “but it’s sincere shit.”

The two then discussed O’Reilly’s claim that rap music is responsible for the decline of religion in America. Mike’s response was pure laughter.

In Friday’s episode Maher also brought up America’s obsession with British accents and discussed the criticism of first lady Michelle Obama’s speech at Tuskegee University with panelists Killer Mike, John Waters, Heather McGhee and Charles Murray.

Bill Maher Calls Out Rand Paul For Pandering To Republican Base

Bill Maher wants to know what happened to Rand Paul.

On “Real Time With Bill Maher” Friday night, the host took Sen. Paul (R-Ky.) to task, claiming the presidential candidate has recently changed many of his libertarian beliefs.

“New rule: You can’t have any more Republican candidates for president until you tell me what you did with Rand Paul,” Maher said, “who was last seen standing in front of an aircraft carrier setting fire to everything he used to believe.”

By way of example, he said, “If you want to say, ‘I’m a new kind of Republican,’ don’t do what all the rest of them do and stand in front of the Yorktown … and then suggest adding $ 190 billion to the defense budget — the one you used to want to cut.”

Bill Kreutzmann, Grateful Dead Drummer, Joins Street Musician In San Francisco (And No One Noticed)

Tickets to the sold-out Grateful Dead concerts in Chicago this summer are fetching thousands of dollars online, but one member of the band played briefly for free in public on Sunday in front of a crowd of almost no one.

A video posted on Facebook shows Bill Kreutzmann, drummer and a member of the Dead since the band began in Palo Alto, California, in 1965, joining a street musician outside the Ferry Terminal Building in San Francisco.

The musician appears to be John F. King II, who’s known for drumming on garbage cans and other found objects. Kreutzmann posted the clip showing himself performing “undercover” in front of a decidedly smaller crowd than the ones he’ll face in Chicago.

In fact, it seems as if no one noticed at all:

Remember parking lot drum circles? I do. (And I’ll still join in, undercover… even after Sunday brunches in San Francisco.)

Posted by Bill Kreutzmann on Sunday, April 5, 2015

The video can also be seen here.

Kreutzmann has been busy of late. His tell-all book, “Deal: My Three Decades of Drumming, Dreams, and Drugs with the Grateful Dead” will be released in May. And of course, in July he’ll take the stage in the Windy City with his old bandmates for what’s being billed as the Grateful Dead’s final concerts.

Bill Maher Slams Liberals For Slamming Liberals

“Don’t throw the synthetic baby out with the bathwater,” said Bill Maher on Friday.

During his “New Rules” segment on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” the talk show host took some time to call out liberals for attacking other liberals. Maher ran through a number of topics, including Elton John’s boycott of Dolce and Gabbana over comments on gay adoption and in vitro fertilization, backlash The Economist got over a cover and a college president who was forced to apologize for sending out an email that said “all lives matter” instead of “Black lives matter.”

“What is the point of attacking people who are 95 percent on your side?” said Maher, later adding, “I see atheists and agnostics bitching at each other. Why is this even a thing? Do you believe in a talking snake? Me neither. We’re on the same team.”

Bill Maher Calls For Ban On Fraternities In ‘New Rules’

Bill Maher is calling for the end of fraternities.

The host closed out his “New Rules” segment on “Real Time with Bill Maher” Friday night with a plea to the president.

“New rule,” Maher said. “Before he leaves office, President Obama must send in the National Guard to desegregate American’s last bastion of societal-approved racism: college fraternities.”

Maher went on to compare fraternities to the Islamic State group because of the hazing techniques used by some in the Greek system.

“Since 1970, there’s been at least one hazing-related death every year as pledges routinely endure alcohol poisoning, sleep deprivation, waterboarding, being dressed in diapers, buried in trash, force-fed cat food,” he said. “Jesus, why not just pledge ISIS?”
