Ellen Pompeo’s Purse Stolen From Her While She Vacations in Italy: ‘I Blame the Rosé’

Ellen Pompeo‘s Italian vacation hit a little bit of a bump in the road on Friday when a thief snatched her purse from her in Florence.

The Grey’s Anatomy star, 48, shared the news of her robbery on Instagram, writing, “My purse was stolen from right under my nose!!”

“I blame the rosé!!” Pompeo joked.

Luckily, Pompeo’s bag was recovered — a good thing for both the star and the thief, as Pompeo was ready to fight him or her.

“Grazia to who ever stole it for dropping it on the street exactly in tact,” Pompeo wrote. “I was tracking my phone and chasing you down… had I caught you… it would not have ended well for you… I am nice but lets not forget my heritage… NAPOLITANO…. hai furtuno y io hai destine 👊🏼🇮🇹😘.”

“Also I hope you were smiling because e Sarai catturato perche sei in macchina 📷📷🎞” Pompeo added, explaining that the thief had been caught by security cameras and would be captured.

The actress also took time to thank the Florence police, who were in the picture she shared, and the staff at the Ristorante & Wine Bar dei Frescobaldi, where she was was dining at the time.

“Grazia a polizia Di Firenzia squadro volanti y resterante Frescobaldi,” Pompeo wrote in Italian, later teasing that her use of the language might not have been exact. “Please forgive my horrible Italian.”

Pompeo is traveling in between seasons of Grey’s. The acclaimed ABC medical drama will return for its 15th season this fall.

She’s been with the show since the beginning, starring as the title character Meredith Grey, and recently negotiated her $ 20 million salary — making her the highest paid women on television.

“I was really tired and I knew was stepping away, so it was a moment for me to say, ‘If I’m going to stay, I’m away from my kids a lot, it’s really got to be worth my while. I have to break some glass ceiling to have it worth it for me to stay,’ ” Pompeo previously told PEOPLE of her negotiation.

“I had support and I had the courage to do it and I was also completely willing to walk away,” she continued. “I was ready for it to not go my way, that’s the most important thing. It might not go your way, you’ve got to be okay with that.”

As for her trip to Italy, should she get in any more trouble, Pompeo could always call on her Grey’s costar Giacomo Gianniotti.

The actor, who plays Dr. Andrew DeLuca on the show, commented on her Instagram, offering his support (and help with her Italian, should she need it).

“C’mon Ellen! You didn’t hit up your boy for an Italian translation?” he joked. “Haha I’ll be there in July and I’ll be on the prowl for your boy, he don’t stand a chance. Glad you are safe!”

Judy Blame, Stylist, Jewelry Designer, Fashion Maverick Dead at 58

LONDON — The stylist, jeweler and underground club king Judy Blame has died at 58.
Known as a man of many trades, Blame ran underground clubs in London and later segued into styling where he worked with a range of talents including Boy George, Neneh Cherry, John Galliano and Kim Jones at Louis Vuitton.
He was also known for his outlandish jewelry designs made from artifacts that he dredged up from the mud of the Thames. He was a punk to his core.
Nick Knight described Blame as “always totally unique, always a champion of the underdog, always fiercely anti-fascist and anti-establishment, always inspiring, always so immensely talented and always one hundred percent brilliant. Judy, the world will be a much darker place without you, but your life’s work will continue to shine and to show this world that creativity and art are the highest forms of human achievement,” Knight added.
Blame started his career working alongside John Moore from The House of Beauty and Culture and the late photographer Rei Petri.
His work was celebrated by London’s ICA in 2016, with the space presenting his first solo exhibition, a retrospective called Judy Blame: Never Again that featured Blame’s jewelry and mixed media art.

Elwood House: Must-Do listMonday Meet up with Kate and Amber to finalise Amber’s weddingdo NOT let Kate talk you into fuchsia or satinwalk away from the satin. Decide on classical music pieces for the bathrooms. Be ready to fend off that very persistent new wine merchant. Stay in for the garden centre delivery of the spiral box trees for the front porch. ‘Snow. I am going to need lots of snow. And tiny white fairy lights sparkling in the trees and over the pergola. Can you do fairy lights?’ Amber’s voice tailed off into a dreamy whisper. ‘It would be so magical and romantic.’ Saskia Elwood rolled her eyes and grinned at her best friend Amber, then clicked in the box next to the garden lighting option on her wedding planner spreadsheet. ‘Of course I can do white fairy lights. As for the snow? That shouldn’t be too difficult for New Year’s Day in London. But, you know me, if you want it to snow on your wedding day, then snow you shall have, even if I have to track down a snow gun machine and make you some. Although Won’t it be a bit cold? From the designs I have seen, that dress Kate is making for you would be perfect for a tropical beach weddingbut London in January? Brr’ Amber giggled and flicked her long straight blonde hair over one shoulder in a move she had perfected in fashion shoots and as years performing as a concert pianist. ‘I know,’ she replied, wrinkling up her nose in delight. ‘It is so perfect. Sam is going to love it.’ Then she sighed out loud and strolled out past Saskia and through the conservatory into the garden with a faraway expression on her face. ‘Just love it.’ ‘She’s off again,’ a cheery voice sounded from behind Saskia’s shoulder as Kate Lovat bounced into the room with a bundle of wedding magazines in her arms. ‘Dreaming of the fabulous Sam. If I wasn’t so smitten with my Heath I would find it a bit sickening. In fact, sometimes I’m surprised you put up with the two of us. Always talking about the lucky men who we have agreed to marry one day.’ ‘Right now,’ Saskia replied with a snort, ‘I am more worried about Amber getting frostbite in that skimpy, mostly backless dress you are planning for a winter wedding. Any chance of a jacket? Thermal vest? The poor girl is going to be blue, which is not a good look for any bride.’ Kate replied by playfully hitting Saskia on the head with a rolled up bridal magazine and sat down next to her at the conservatory table. ‘Blue? With that fabulous suntan? No chance.’ Then she relaxed and rested her elbows on the table. ‘Relax. There is a beautiful full-length quilted ivory coat to go on top of that slinky dress for any outdoor photos. Fear not. The girl shall not freeze. When the dancing starts she will be glad of that layered silk gown, even if the beads will be flying everywhere.’ Kate arched her eyebrows and peered at Saskia’s computer screen, her green eyes bright with amusement. ‘Does that say dinner and reception for twenty-six? White House Says ‘Sophisticated Actor’ Hacked Sony, Declines To Blame North Korea

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House says evidence shows the hack against Sony Pictures was carried out by a “sophisticated actor” with “malicious intent.”

But spokesman Josh Earnest is declining to blame North Korea. Earnest says he doesn’t want to get ahead of investigations by the Justice Department and the FBI.

A U.S. official says federal investigators have linked North Korea to the attack. The official spoke on condition of anonymity earlier this week.

Sony has canceled the Christmas Day release of “The Interview” after many theaters said they would hold off on showing the film.

Threats have been made against theaters planning to show the film, which is a comedy about a plot to assassinate North Korea’s leader.

Walmart: Tracy Morgan Partly To Blame In Truck Accident Because He Wasn’t Wearing Seatbelt

DAVID PORTER, Associated Press

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Actor-comedian Tracy Morgan and other people in a limousine struck from behind by a Wal-Mart truck on a highway in June are at least partly to blame for their injuries because they weren’t wearing seatbelts, the company said in a court filing Monday.

The filing was made in federal court in response to a lawsuit Morgan filed in July over the accident, which killed his friend James McNair, who was accompanying the former “Saturday Night Live” and “30 Rock” star back from a show in Delaware. Morgan spent several weeks in rehab with rib and leg injuries.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc., based in Bentonville, Arkansas, said in the filing that the passengers’ injuries were caused “in whole or in part” by their “failure to properly wear an appropriate available seatbelt restraint device,” which it said constitutes unreasonable conduct.

An attorney representing Morgan and the other plaintiffs called Wal-Mart’s contentions “surprising and appalling.”

“It’s disingenuous,” attorney Benedict Morelli said. “It’s not what they said they were going to do initially, which was take full responsibility. I’m very upset, not for myself but for the families I represent.”

The lawsuit seeks a jury trial and punitive and compensatory damages. It says the retail giant should have known that its truck driver had been awake for more than 24 hours before the crash and that his commute of 700 miles from his home in Georgia to work in Delaware was “unreasonable.” It also alleges the driver fell asleep at the wheel.

Wal-Mart spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan said in an email that the company “continues to stand willing to work with Mr. Morgan and the other plaintiffs to resolve this matter.”

Passengers Ardley Fuqua and Jeffrey Millea and Millea’s wife, Krista Millea, also are named as plaintiffs in the lawsuit. Krista Millea was not in the limousine when the crash occurred but is a plaintiff because she has a related loss-of-services lawsuit stemming from the crash.

Truck driver Kevin Roper, of Jonesboro, Georgia, pleaded not guilty to death by auto and assault by auto charges in state court. A criminal complaint also accuses him of not sleeping for more than 24 hours before the crash, a violation of New Jersey law.

A report by federal transportation safety investigators said Roper was driving 65 mph in the minute before he slammed into the limo van. The speed limit on that stretch of the New Jersey Turnpike is 55 mph and was lowered to 45 mph that night because of construction.

Roper had been on the job about 13 1/2 hours at the time of the crash, the report concluded. Federal rules permit truck drivers to work up to 14 hours a day, with a maximum of 11 hours behind the wheel.
