Bulgari Reveals Two Movies for 2019 Tribeca Film Festival: ‘Celestial’ and ‘The 4th Wave’

THE SEVENTH ART: Bulgari owes a lot to the film industry.
That’s according to chief executive officer Jean-Christophe Babin who, speaking on a recent afternoon from the Bulgari offices in New York, said movies played a huge role in contributing to the company’s popularity in the Sixties and Seventies.
“We were a tiny family company then,” he explained. “Actors and producers from the U.S. came to Rome, spent months here and discovered the store on Via Dei Condotti. It was a side they’d never seen before, made of contrast, of volume, Cabochon — it totally defined the new rules of jewelry.”
Bulgari’s wares — which actresses like Elizabeth Taylor and Sharon Stone coveted — created a style which established contact between the Hollywood community working on movies at Cinecittà Studios in Rome. Word of mouth gradually drove the global development of the company.
It makes sense, then, that Bulgari would participate in the realm of filmmaking today. For 2019, the brand is continuing this tradition of working alongside the arts as artisans, as the official jeweler of the Tribeca Film Festival, Bulgari has partnered with Tribeca Studios on two short films — part of their multiyear series highlighting trailblazing women working in

Net-a-porter, Bulgari Socialize Under Milan’s Starry Skies

STAR POWER: Summer just can’t bring itself to say arrivederci to Milano, where the weather has been sunny and balmy all week, leaving showgoers wondering why they’re rushing between runways instead of heading to the seaside.
Nights have been warm and starlit, too, creating the ideal backdrop for cocktail parties hosted by Net-a-porter president Alison Loehnis and Bulgari, which feted a handbag collaboration with Nicholas Kirkwood.

“It’s sadly not my home — I wish it were,” said Loehnis, referring to the historic — and spectacular — private villa near Corso Magenta, where she hosted a party for Net’s fashion brands and members of the industry, including Yoox Net-a-porter chief executive officer Federico Marchetti.
A private home belonging to the Radice Fossati family, the villa boasts a 13th-century facade and courtyard, and 18th-century interiors that were filled with ancestral oil paintings mounted on mile-high walls.
“We’re an Anglo-Italian family now, an international family. We thought it was the perfect time of year, and we wanted something cozy,” she said as she greeted guests including Diego Della Valle, Antonio Berardi, Laudomia Pucci, Gianvito Rossi, Marco Bizzarri, Marco de Vincenzo and Alessandro dell’Acqua, in the lush and sprawling garden.

Bulgari Celebrates Serpenti Forever Pillar With New Styles

SERPENT’S TALE: Having introduced its new Divas’ Dream handbag aimed at Millennials last season, Bulgari turned the spotlight back to its Serpenti Forever pillar for spring.
Launched in 2011, the snakehead-clasp design has won over celebrities including Kate Moss and Miranda Kerr. This season, it got a makeover from London-based designer Nicholas Kirkwood, who created the line’s first-ever backpack style.
The Rome-based brand celebrated the collaboration with a party attended by Bella Hadid, Lottie Moss and Jasmine Sanders. It hopes to bring on a new guest designer every two or three seasons, according to Mireia Lopez Montoya, managing director of accessories at Bulgari.
“Since quite a few years, we have been attracting younger and younger customers into the brand. Actually, our average age is early 30s,” she noted. “Our inspiration is to really keep Serpenti Forever young and relevant as part of our intention to make this bag our iconic bag for the longer term.”
Among the new options this season is the Pop Heart design, featuring metal studs and arrows. For a seriously upscale alternative, look no further than the python leather versions painted in rainbow hues – each one is guaranteed one-of-a-kind.
