We’re right in the thick of hot chocolate season, and while we love a simple handful of marshmallows on top, we can do better. It is the holidays, after all.

White Chocolate Peppermint Snowflakes
Over a double boiler or in the microwave, melt a bag of white chocolate chips. Transfer to a piping bag and pipe into the shape of a snowflake on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with crushed candy canes and transfer to the refrigerator to set up for about 30 minutes. To serve, place the snowflake over the top of a mug and pour hot chocolate in the center to melt.
Marshmallow Whipped Cream Cut-Outs
In a large bowl, beat 1 ½ cups cold heavy cream with a hand mixer until soft peaks form. Add in 1 cup marshmallow creme and continue to whip to stiff peaks. Spread out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper then transfer to freezer to harden, about 45 minutes. Use Christmas-shaped cookie cutters to cut out shapes and serve on top of hot chocolate.
