Designer Maryam Nassir Zadeh, Husband and Brand Cofounder Divorcing

It looks like the married owners of cult favorite boutique and brand Maryam Nassir Zadeh are headed for a split.
Eponymous founder Maryam Nassir Zadeh and her husband and business partner Uday Kak, who is also a photographer, made a contested divorce filing in a local Brooklyn court late last week. Documents in the case are sealed, but a contested filing generally means there is either a dispute over child custody, assets or both.
The now-former couple shares two daughters and public profiles list Zadeh and Kak as partners in the boutique, which has a storefront in New York’s Lower East Side, along with a popular e-commerce business. There is also a Maryam Nassir Zadeh line of shoes and bags, priced roughly between $ 400 and $ 900, as well as design-forward apparel, which Zadeh designs and has expanded over the last year.
Zadeh held her second fashion show in September at the East River Track in New York, with seating on bleachers and a surprise performance by Solange Knowles. She’s been producing seasonal collections since spring 2015.

The boutique carries a number of luxury designers, from the established to the new, like Marni, Rochas, Isabel Marant, Jacquemus, Lemaire, Jesse Kamm and Dumitrascu, and offers an

Street Signs: Roc-a-Fella Cofounder on Building Streetwear Brands

On Nov. 30, Nike will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Air Force One by releasing five different styles designed by Errolson Hugh of Acronym, Virgil Abloh of Off-White, rapper Travis Scott, Don Crawley of Just Don, and Roc-a-Fella Records cofounder Kareem “Biggs” Burke.
Burke is the unofficial godfather of the group, and in many ways planted the seed from which the rest of the collaborators sprouted. It starts with Roc-a-Fella, which he founded with Jay-Z and Damon Dash in 1994, then moves on to Kanye West, who signed to Roc-a-Fella in the early Aughts. Both Abloh and Crawley, better known as Don C, are directly connected to West — Abloh was his creative director at one point and Crawley served as the road manager and DJ from time to time. And Scott is signed to Good Music, which is West’s record label.
“This is the offspring of what we’ve built,” said Burke. “To see Virgil and Don C’s success, I love that. People talk about legacy and how I want to be remembered and I just want that family tree to keep growing.”
The Roc-a-Fella Air Force One is the only shoe from the capsule that isn’t an entirely new design. In

Coach Cofounder Miles Cahn, 95

Coach cofounder Miles Cahn died Friday at the age of 95.
The New York City native founded Coach in 1961 with wife Lillian, who died in 2013 at the age of 89.
The husband-and-wife duo famously developed hides inspired by baseball glove materials — using the leather in bags and small accessories to forge an all-American aesthetic.
Coach began as a family-run workshop in a Manhattan loft in 1941. The company started with six leather-workers who made men’s leather goods. Five years later, the Cahns joined the contractor, then known as Gail Leather Products. The Cahns were owners of a leather handbag manufacturing business and were knowledgeable about the business. In 1961, the Cahns bought out the factory’s owners in a leveraged buyout.
At Lillian’s suggestion, the Cahns started making women’s handbags with leather used to make baseball gloves. Through excessive wear and abrasion, the leather in the glove became soft and supple. Under the brand name Coach, the sturdy cowhide bags were an immediate hit and earned a reputation for being nearly indestructible. In 1961, the Cahns hired sportswear pioneer Bonnie Cashin to design Coach handbags. She revolutionized the product’s design, making handbags with side pockets, coin purses and brighter colors.

Rag & Bone Cofounder Starts Double Eleven Line

Since leaving Rag & Bone in 2006, Nathan Bogle’s journey has taken him to many different places.
After a short hiatus, he dabbled in culinary school, film school and consulting before finding his way back to the apparel business in 2012 with his line Jardine, a contemporary men’s wear collection named after his great-grandfather that shuttered in 2014. This collection, which was nothing like Rag & Bone, consisted of suit separates, dress shirts and polo shirts made of synthetic fabrics.
Now he’s taking another stab at fashion with Double Eleven, a sustainable men’s brand that embodies the Americana ethos he embraced at Rag & Bone.
“I was sitting on a factory floor on 38th Street where we made our leathers for Jardine and I was watching the guy cut the hide and basically utilize only 70 percent of it,” said Bogle. “And I just went through the calculation of the cow, feeding it and the food and water and it hit me like a ton of bricks and I thought, I’ve got to solve this.”
Bogle’s solution is layered. He’s producing Made in Los Angeles men’s wear basics — denim, T-shirts, sweaters and jackets — that are constructed with deadstock fabrics. Knits are made

Roc-A-Fella Records Cofounder Kareem ‘Biggs’ Burke to Launch 14 Capsule Collections Nationwide

Kareem “Biggs” Burke is executive producing a new type of project.
The cofounder of Roc-A-Fella records is overseeing the simultaneous drop of 14 Roc96 collections at 14 specialty stores throughout the U.S. starting in December. Each collection is inspired by a different song from “Reasonable Doubt,” Jay Z’s debut album that turned 20 this year.
“I was trying to do one drop a month and obviously there are 14 songs and there aren’t 14 months in a year, so we decided to consolidate it,” said Burke, who tasked his design team with thoroughly listening to the album before creating the collection. The line, which retails from $ 25 to $ 145, features T-shirts, hoodies, hats, beanies and reprinted “Reasonable Doubt” cassettes. The assortment has graphics and messaging that riff off of lyrics from the classic album.
The Foundation Showroom is handling the distribution of the collection, which will be available on Dec. 4, Jay Z’s 47th birthday, at the following stores: Social Status locations in Pennsylvania and North Carolina; A Ma Maniere in Atlanta; Feature in Las Vegas; Woodstack in Brooklyn; Politics in New Orleans; Creme in Norfolk, Va.; Xhibition in Cleveland; Corporate in Cincinnati; Ubiq in Philadelphia; Concepts in Manhattan and Boston; Soho Gallery in
