Kellyanne Conway Defends Trump’s Attack Against Nordstrom — By Advertising Ivanka’s Products

White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway defended President Donald Trump attacking Nordstrom for dropping his daughter’s fashion line, telling Americans on Thursday to “go buy Ivanka’s stuff.”

Trump had gone after Nordstrom the day before, complaining that the store had stopped selling his daughter’s merchandise and that she “has been treated so unfairly.” His tweet about the subject, which was soon retweeted by the official White House Twitter account, immediately raised further ethical concerns about Trump’s presidency and his family’s businesses.

Conway essentially turned her Thursday morning appearance on Fox News into an infomercial, defending Ivanka Trump as “an incredibly creative, talented woman” and talking about buying the brand’s products.

“I do find it ironic that you have got some executives all over the internet bragging about what they have done to her and her line, and yet, they are using the most prominent woman in Donald Trump’s, you know, most prominent his daughter, using her, who has been a champion for women empowerment of women in the workplace, to get to him,” Conway said. “I think people could see through that. Go buy Ivanka’s stuff! I hate shopping, and I will go get some myself today.”

“It is just a wonderful line. I own some of it,” she added. “I fully, I’m going to give a free commercial here. Go buy it today, everybody. You can find it online.”

In doing so, Conway may have violated a rule stating that federal officials cannot use public office to sell products.

“An employee shall not use or permit the use of his Government position or title or any authority associated with his public office to endorse any product, service or enterprise,” the law states

The Trump administration has refused to address the numerous conflicts of interest that create the appearance that the president and his family could profit from his position.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer on Wednesday sidestepped questions about the ethics of Trump’s statement, claiming it was justified because Nordstrom’s decision to pull Ivanka Trump’s merchandise was “a direct attack on his policies in her name” and that the president “has every right to stand up for his family.”

Nordstrom has said that the decision to drop the fashion line was related to low sales, not in protest of the Trump administration’s policies.

James Cameron Defends Titanic Ending: Mythbusters Is ‘Full of S—‘

A version of this article originally appeared on ew.com.

That floating door could not have held two people, James Cameron says.

The Oscar-winning director of Titanic was asked in a recent interview with The Daily Beast about the long-running dispute over the ending of his 1997 blockbuster hit, when a piece of wood debris from the title ship keeps Rose (Kate Winslet) out of the freezing water while her lover Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) perishes. C’mon, there had to room for both of them on there, right? After all, didn’t Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters prove they could both have survived using their lifejackets tied to the door for added buoyancy?

“OK, so let’s really play that out,” Cameron said. “You’re Jack, you’re in water that’s 28 degrees, your brain is starting to get hypothermia. Mythbusters asks you to now go take off your life vest, take hers off, swim underneath this thing, attach it in some way that it won’t just wash out two minutes later — which means you’re underwater tying this thing on in 28-degree water, and that’s going to take you 5-to-10 minutes, so by the time you come back up you’re already dead. So that wouldn’t work. His best choice was to keep his upper body out of the water and hope to get pulled out by a boat or something before he died.”

Cameron added about the Mythbusters series: “They’re fun guys and I loved doing that show with them, but they’re full of sh–.”

Back in 2012, the Mythbusters team presented Cameron with the results from their tests. “I think you guys are missing the point here,” Cameron said at the time. “The script says Jack dies, he has to die. Maybe we screwed up. The board should have been a tiny bit smaller. But the dude’s going down.”

Cameron didn’t only talk about Titanic in this new interview; he also says we’re probably doomed, too. The director was asked about whether he was concerned that Donald Trump would wreck the environment now that he’s president.

“Am I worried? Of course,” he said. “I’m like anyone of good conscience and reasonable intelligence. I think we’re the biggest freakin’ idiot civilization in history right now, and they’ll probably be talking about us 4,000 years from now scratching their heads — like they talk about Atlantis. Who are those guys? What did they do to piss off the gods so much that they’re buried under a hundred feet of mud right now? … It’s basically the upside-down world right now, and the kind of dialogue coming out of these guys sounds like George Orwell. Alternate facts? There’s no such thing as an alternate fact! These people are insane. But I’m keeping my head down, doing the stuff that I thought I would be doing if Hillary was elected. I’m making my Avatar films, I’m doing my climate work, I’m doing my sustainable agriculture work. You can only do what you can do.”

Kylie Jenner Defends Caitlyn Jenner After Chris Brown Posts Transphobic Instagram

While many celebrities have been vocal in their support of Caitlyn Jenner following her debut on Vanity Fair’s July cover, unfortunately, some have not. And Jenner’s daughter Kylie Jenner is not going to take the insults lying down.

After Chris Brown reposted a transphobic meme that referred to Caitlyn Jenner on his Instagram account Friday, the 17-year-old “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star reportedly commented on the post, writing, “Not very nice to say about your friends dad.” Brown’s post has since been deleted, but Kylie Jenner’s tweet Friday seemingly alludes to the incident:

Kylie Jenner and Chris Brown have been spotted hanging out together on various occasions. Jenner has shared photos of herself with Brown on her Instagram account, and the Jenner sisters participated in a charity kickball game with the “Forever” singer in July 2014.

The Huffington Post has reached out to Jenner and Brown’s reps for comment and will update this post if one comes through.

Patrick Stewart Defends Northern Irish Bakery That Rejected ‘Support Gay Marriage’ Cake

“Star Trek” icon Patrick Stewart has come to the defense of Northern Ireland’s Ashers Bakery, which was found guilty of discrimination last month after refusing to prepare a cake decorated with a same-sex marriage slogan.

The case made headlines in 2014 after Belfast-based activist Gareth Lee requested a cake featuring “Sesame Street” characters, along with the message, “Support Gay Marriage.” Although the bakery’s owners initially accepted the order, they called two days later to cancel it, citing their religious beliefs.

In response, Stewart called the Ashers case “a deliciously difficult” subject in an interview with BBC’s Newsnight, adding that he “found himself on the side of the bakers” because nobody should be forced to write politically-relevant text that they didn’t support.

“It was not because it was a gay couple that they objected. It was not because they were celebrating some sort of marriage or an agreement between them,” Stewart is quoted as saying. “It was the actual words on the cake that they objected to, because they found them offensive.”

He went on to note, “I would support their rights to say, ‘No, this is personally offensive to my beliefs, I will not do it.'”

The remarks may come as a surprise to some fans of Stewart, who has previously spoken out in defense of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. In January, the actor said his background in theater made him a natural LGBT advocate.

“I think this is where the theater is such an appealing world, because it embraces everything and always has. So there was never a moment where I made an intellectual choice that I would be a supporter of gay civil rights,” he said at the time. “It was always a natural and uncomplicated choice.”

Television Mogul Byron Allen Defends ‘Blackface’ Obama Comment

It appears television mogul and host of “Comics Unleashed” Byron Allen is standing by previous comments he made referring to President Barack Obama as a “white president in blackface.”

Earlier this week, Allen spoke to a TMZ cameraperson about his disappointment over the words the president chose in discussing last month’s violent tensions in Baltimore, referring to some of those rioting as “thugs” during an April 28 press conference.

Yesterday, Allen followed up on his comments during an appearance on “TMZ Live,” elaborating on his frustrations with the Obama administration.

“What we’re witnessing is a national crisis,” he said. “When you see young black men on the streets rioting it’s because of the two Americas. And by the way, in a lot of black cities unemployment amongst black men is 50 percent.”

According to the most recent figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the jobless rate for African-American males over 20 years old is 9.2 percent — nearly twice the rate of unemployment among white men in the same age group. An October 2014 report in Al Jazeera notes high incarceration rates, lack of training, and discrimination as some of the contributing factors for the gap.

After launching his comedy career as a staff writer alongside Jay Leno and David Letterman and becoming the youngest standup comedian to appear on “The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson,” Allen founded Entertainment Studios in 1993. Entertainment Studios is now a global media production and distribution company with eight HD networks.

In his TMZ interview, the Detroit-native and television veteran claimed his public criticism towards the president stems from a previous in-person encounter during a dinner when he personally invited the president to have a meeting about his concerns over racist comments made by former AT&T president Aaron Slator, and the broader problem of race and racism in corporate settings.

Despite his invitation, Allen has yet to hear a response from POTUS.

“As the President of the United States if you’re going to call those kids in Baltimore ‘thugs’ why don’t you talk to the chairman of AT&T who’s calling us the n-word, covering it up for two years, and say ‘you need to sit down and talk to Knoyme King and Byron Allen and resolve these issues,’” he said. “You can’t be the biggest telecommunications company in the world calling us the n-word. You’re the president, but you’re also black man.”

Prior to Slator’s April termination from AT&T, the former advertising and sales executive was the subject of a $ 100 million discrimination lawsuit after a 50-year-old African-American woman and employee, Knoyme King, accused him of subjecting her to discriminatory behavior and using his work phone to send racially offensive images, according to reports.

As for a resolution to Allen’s concerns, he went on record during his “TMZ Live” appearance to state that he’s not mad at President Obama and is still open to sitting down with him for a conversation on the topic.

Allen did not immediately respond to a HuffPost request for comment.

Check out more of Byron Allen’s comments in the clip above.
