Justin Bieber’s Manager Scooter Braun Shows Off the Home Ellen DeGeneres Convinced Him to Buy

Hollywood talent manager and record-label boss Scooter Braun knows a star when he sees one — he works with Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and Kanye West — but it was another pair of famous friends that led him to his stunning Montecito, California, home, while it was still a diamond in the rough.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi (rather forcefully) convinced Braun, 36, and his then-girlfriend Yael Cohen, 31, to go house hunting during a fateful lunch in 2014.

The spouses endlessly talked up the seaside town, Braun tells Architectural Digest in the magazine’s March issue. “We were like, ‘We’re not going to buy a house.’ We weren’t even married yet!” But, he recalls, “when we got back to their house afterward, there was a broker waiting for us.”

(Serial renovators DeGeneres and de Rossi have since listed a stunning $ 45 million estate in nearby Santa Barbara, and picked up a new place in Montecito, which was struck by deadly mudslides in January.)

Braun and Cohen fell for the third place they visited: a six-bedroom, 7,000-square-foot home originally built in 1916. “As soon as we pulled into the driveway, between all those trees, we kind of instantly knew that we were going to buy it,” says Braun.

The couple has since married and welcomed two sons, Jagger Joseph, 3, and Levi Magnus, 1.

With help from two of DeGeneres’s go-to decorators Kathleen and Tommy Clement, who also worked on Jennifer Aniston’s Bel Air home, they upgraded every inch of the house and the surrounding landscape, which now features myriad outdoor entertaining areas and two fire pits.

“I’m obsessed with fire pits,” Braun tells AD, “and that’s because some of the best concerts I’ve been to in my life have been around them. I can’t tell you how many times our friends have sat down to sing and play at the piano in the living room, but the real fun happens around the fire pits. We literally sit around and jam.” And, he notes not so subtly, “we are fortunate enough to know a couple of people who can really sing.”

Ellen DeGeneres Hilariously Explains How Two Glasses of Wine Landed Her in the Hospital

Leave it to Ellen DeGeneres to turn a dislocated finger into a hilarious story.

Before welcoming her guest Claire Danes on Wednesday’s episode of her talk show, DeGeneres had a quick announcement to make — and that involved explaining exactly how two glasses of wine landed her in the emergency room.

“I have something to show you — it’s that right here,” said the host, pointing at her splint. “Can you see it? I broke my finger. I know what you’re thinking: ‘How can you host a show without the tip of your ring finger?!’ I’m not going to let this thing beat me. I am not!”

“I’ll tell you what happened,” she continued. “So you know how in gymnastics when you do a one-handed cartwheel and you have to spread the weight evenly between all your fingers? Well, I had two glasses of wine and fell into a door.”

As it turns out, the comedian and her wife Portia de Rossi were coming home from a dinner party and were almost at their front door when DeGeneres tripped on the top step.

“I was like a foot away from the door, and I fell into the door,” she recalled. “It did something to my finger — I knew something was wrong.”

“My first thought was: ‘No big deal, Obamacare will cover this,’ ” she quipped. “So, Portia drove me to the hospital, to the emergency room. When I got there, of course the receptionist had so many things for me to sign — a picture for her nephew, a t-shirt for her … No, they were wonderful. UCLA, thank you so much. There were a lot of people that were helpful, but Tammy, thank you so much. Tammy was my nurse that was taking care of me. They did an x-ray of my finger and here’s what it looked like.”

“But anyways, turns out I didn’t break it: I dislocated my finger,” she continued. “That’s what they call it, which is an incorrect term because I knew where it was located. It was just wrongly located is what it was.”

“Do you know what they do when you dislocate your finger?” she asked. “It’s very technical. What they do is they take the part that’s dislocated and then they just snap it right back into place. You can see why they have to go to eight years of medical school.”

DeGeneres said before it was snapped back into place, she was “in incredible pain” so her nurse Tammy asked if she wanted a shot.

“I said: ‘No, I had two glasses of wine — that’s what got me into this mess in the first place, Tammy,’ ” joked DeGeneres. “She meant a shot to numb my finger.”

“She said: ‘You’re going to feel a little prick, and then some burning,’ ” continued the host. “There was burning alright. Burning followed by cursing is what happened. Just think of any curse word and I said that. I invented three new ones, actually.”

“So it was a hard weekend for me, but I put on a brave face and I made it through,” she went on. “I’m going to watch my steps very carefully as I dance.”

Ellen DeGeneres Had Two Glasses Of Wine And Ended Up In The Emergency Room

What happened to Ellen’s finger? That was the question on everybody’s mind when the talk show host showed up to work after a minor accident landed her in the hospital.

Ellen DeGeneres recently dislocated her finger after having a couple of drinks at a dinner party with wife Portia de Rossi, and she somehow lived to tell the tale.

“I broke my finger. I know what you’re thinking: ‘How can you host a show without the tip of [your] ring finger?’ I am not gonna let this thing beat me. I am not,” DeGeneres joked Tuesday on “Ellen.”

“So, you know how in gymnastics when you do a one-handed cartwheel and you have to spread the weight evenly between all your fingers?” the host joked. “Well, I had two glasses of wine and fell into a door.”

She continued, “The dogs were so excited to see us, and I caught the lip of the top step. I was a foot away from the door, and I fell into the door, and it did something to my finger. I knew something was wrong.”

The comedian and the “Arrested Development” actress then drove to the nearest emergency room for an X-ray and, naturally, DeGeneres shared the results with all of us.

The doctors were able to snap her finger back into place. (”You can see why they have to go to eight years of medical school.”) DeGeneres later returned home, after a few selfies with fellow patients.

Somehow, the host managed to keep it together and interview “Homeland” star Claire Danes later in the show, but she’ll forever be scarred by the accident.

“It was a hard weekend for me, but I put on a brave face and I made it through,” she joked. “Luckily, my friends from Shutterfly heard my story and they love helping people out in need, so they wanted to present me with this check for $ 10,000, which is so nice,” she said. “Thank you so much. I’m no hero, but I deserve this. I’m gonna watch my steps very carefully as I dance.”

Watch Kristen Wiig And Ellen DeGeneres Try To Sing ‘Let It Go’

During a visit to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Kristen Wiig shocked us. She — and DeGeneres! — claimed not to know the words to “Let It Go,” but since they’re both humans with ears, we find that hard to believe. DeGeneres suggested they try to sing the hit from Disney’s “Frozen.” Thus began our favorite celebrity karaoke session of the week. Bonus points to Wiig for dropping this knowledge: “Kids don’t know what fractals are.”

Daytime Emmy Awards Honor Steve Harvey, Ellen DeGeneres And ‘The Young And The Restless’

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ellen DeGeneres, Steve Harvey and the soap opera “The Young and the Restless” were among the 41st annual Daytime Emmy winners.

“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” received its eighth trophy as outstanding entertainment talk show at the awards ceremony Sunday in Beverly Hills. The “Steve Harvey” show was honored as outstanding informative talk show, while Harvey won as best game show host for “Family Feud.”

CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” captured six awards, including honors for best drama series and best lead actor for star Billy Miller. Eileen Davidson of NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” was named best drama series actress.

ABC’s “Good Morning America” won the best morning program Emmy.

The Daytime Emmys introduced new awards for Spanish-language shows. Trophies went to Telemundo’s “Un Nuevo Dia” as best morning program, to CNNE’s “Clix” as best entertainment show and to Rodner Figueroa of Univision’s “El Gordo y la Flaca” as best daytime talent in Spanish.

CBS, which received eight creative arts Daytime Emmys for technical achievements at a ceremony last week, emerged as the network leader with a total of 14 awards after Sunday’s ceremony.

PBS received a combined 13 awards, with six for HUB Network; five for TOLN.com; four for ABC and three for NBC.

The ceremony, which aired on the cable news channel HLN last year and in 2012 after losing its longtime home on the broadcast networks, this year settled for streaming the proceedings online. The change in fortune reflects the dwindling daytime audience and programming shifts.

Kathy Griffin hosted Sunday’s ceremony, with Billy Bush and Mario Lopez among the presenters.

Other winners were:

Talk show host (tie): Mehmet Oz, “Dr. Oz Show,” Katie Couric, “Katie.”

Entertainment news program (tie): “Entertainment Tonight,” ”Extra.”

New approaches drama series: “Venice the Series.”

Supporting actress in a drama series: Amelia Heinle, “The Young and the Restless.”

Supporting actor in a drama series: Eric Martsolf, “Days of Our Lives.”

Game show: “Jeopardy!”

Special class special: “The Young and the Restless: Jeanne Cooper Tribute.”

Ellen DeGeneres Gives Heartfelt Farewell To Jay Leno On ‘The Tonight Show’ (VIDEO)

While Jay Leno isn’t set to exit “The Tonight Show” until next year, Ellen DeGeneres said her goodbyes on Wednesday night. After 32 prior appearances, this was going to be her final interview on Leno’s show before he leaves, and so she wanted to talk about what an impact he’s had on her life.

“You were so supportive all the time,” an emotional DeGeneres told him. “You always tried to help me in every way. Gave me great advice, gave me ideas with jokes and, actually, Jay is responsible for me being booked on ‘The Tonight Show’ with Johnny Carson, because you told the booker, Jim McCawley, to stay at The Improv and watch me. You said, ‘This girl’s great … so thank you very much for everything you’ve done. You’re amazing. You’re a good guy.”

She then presented Leno with a going away gift — a denim Snuggie. DeGeneres said that it combined his every day outfit of denim-on-denim with his new, retired lifestyle. She then ended her inteview with a kiss. It was a callback to when she came on “The Tonight Show” shortly after coming out publicly back in 1997 and planted a kiss on the host to prove that a kiss was just a kiss.

Of course, this may not be the last time the two get together. We’re pretty sure the door is open for Jay Leno to drop by “The Ellen Degeneres Show,” weekdays in syndication (check local listings). For now, “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” continues on weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.
