EXCLUSIVE: Kim Jones Is Leaving Louis Vuitton

PARIS — Kim Jones is to exit Louis Vuitton after showing his fall 2018 collection for the brand in Paris on Thursday, WWD has learned.
Jones has been men’s artistic director of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton’s flagship brand since 2011, parlaying his zest for exotic travel into ultraluxurious collections with understated cool and sly functionality.
“It has been a huge privilege to work with Kim,” said Michael Burke, Vuitton’s chairman and chief executive officer, lauding the designer’s “ability to set trends” along with his talent and determination. “All of us who have been fortunate to work with Kim wish him continued success in his next venture.”
Vuitton has yet to reveal its succession plan for the plum post, which has gained visibility thanks to Vuitton’s mighty show and campaign budgets, Jones’ clutch of celebrity friends and the brand’s high-profile collaborations with the likes of Supreme and British artists Jake and Dinos Chapman. Vuitton described Jones as “the driving force behind some of the Maison’s most successful projects and collaborations.”

Only three months after her stellar debut catwalk season, Kaia Gerber has inked her first big design collaboration, with Karl Lagerfeld, no less. The 16-year-old daughter of Cindy Crawford has worked on a capsule collection that will hit stores in September, WWD has learned exclusively.
Consisting of ready-to-wear and accessories, including footwear, sunglasses and jewelry, the line is described as blending Lagerfeld’s Parisian chic aesthetic and Gerber’s signature West Coast casual style, which has garnered her 2.7 million followers on Instagram.
The Karl Lagerfeld x Kaia collection will launch globally in Karl Lagerfeld stores, online at Karl.com and with select wholesale partners.
Lagerfeld singled out Gerber as a rising talent months before her breakout season in September, which saw her walk the catwalk for 18 brands, including Calvin Klein, Prada, Saint Laurent and Versace.
She ended it with an honor most seasoned models would die for: Opening the Chanel show for Lagerfeld, who in addition to heading his own label is creative director of Chanel and Italian fur specialist Fendi.

MILAN — “Making the brand younger, clean, more modern and elevated, slighter closer to the Isaia brand but distinctively different” is the mission that Simon Spurr said he embraced when, in November, he joined Eidos, the Isaia company’s advanced contemporary firm.
The New York-based, British designer — who has worked in the men’s wear departments of labels including Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren before launching his namesake brand — presented his first Eidos collection exclusively to WWD in the new Isaia headquarters here.
In order to attract “more fashion costumers” but at the same time target a broad audience in terms of age, Spurr designed a versatile collection that, unlike the quintessentially Italian Isaia tailored line, is rooted in an international aesthetic.
In keeping with the British designer’s signature style, the lineup is focused on clean, lean silhouettes infused with a touch of “romanticism and sensitivity,” explained Spurr, who also highlighted the “wearability” of the collection.

EXCLUSIVE: Maison Margiela to Present First Men’s Collection Under John Galliano

MAN UP: With Paris Men’s Fashion Week set to kick off Tuesday, management at Maison Margiela has confirmed that the house on Friday will present the first men’s collection entirely created and developed under the direction of John Galliano.
The show will take place in the Salle Turenne of the Musée de l’Armée in the Hôtel des Invalides, a complex of buildings in the city’s 7th arrondissement containing museums and monuments relating to the military history of France.
Since joining the OTB-owned house in October 2014, Galliano has had no official involvement in the men’s collection, according to Riccardo Bellini, the house’s chief executive officer. It’s been a step-by-step process for the designer.
“Creating a new aesthetic language rooted in the maison’s couture spirit has always been at the core of Mr. Galliano’s creative vision for the future of the house. Rather than curating the past we have chosen to look at the future and John Galliano’s vision represents a forward-thinking view on the maison and its DNA,” he said. “This collection will offer an elevated and powerful new foundation for men’s wear, strongly positioned within the luxury arena.”
For men’s, the brand counts about 60 direct stores and around 400 multibrand and department stores worldwide.

EXCLUSIVE: Model Christopher Cates Pens Letter Calling for Action Against Harassment

As the uproar continues over sexual harassment in industries stretching from entertainment to media to finance, the fashion world has remained relatively on the sidelines – until now.
On Saturday, The New York Times published a long-rumored story about alleged harassment of male models by the photographers Bruce Weber and Mario Testino. Both men, via statements their lawyers gave to the Times, vigorously denied the allegations made in the story, although Conde Nast and Conde Nast International both said Saturday that they would be severing ties with the two photographers – at least for now.
The Times’ story comes several months after model Cameron Russell created an Instagram account on which anonymous individuals posted stories about their mistreatment in the industry. Last October, Terry Richardson was dropped by the leading fashion magazine publishers but only after years of allegations surrounding his behavior, while model Jason Boyce filed a lawsuit against Weber in December claiming the photographer harassed him. Weber has denied those claims, as well.

HEAR MY SONG: First film, now music. Having commissioned leading filmmakers including Gregg Araki and Sean Baker to create short films, Kenzo has tapped singer-songwriter Karen O to record an original song, and writer-director Ana Lily Amirpour to direct the accompanying film.
Titled “Yo! My Saint,” the track will be released on Jan. 12 across more than 50 streaming services including Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Pandora, Deezer and Google Play Music. A companion limited-edition vinyl is to go on sale on Jan. 22 in Kenzo stores and online.
While championing female talent is nothing new for Kenzo creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the project marks the first time the label has released an original song. Others brands which have produced music include Burberry, which supports British artists via its Burberry Acoustic initiative, and Kitsuné, which has its own record label.

As reported, the maverick fashion label plans to stage its next coed show — for the fall 2018 season — on Jan. 19 in the French capital. HONG KONG — Much like the Indian weddings he often designs for, an outfit by Sabyasachi Mukherjee is a mélange of colors, intricate patterns and delight. Over the course of 16 years since he started his namesake couture label, the Kolkata native has become feted not just for his design sensibilities, but also for utilizing near forgotten arts-and-crafts traditions from around India.
On Nov. 2, Lane Crawford department store launched an exclusive collection of 29 ready-to-wear pieces from Mukherjee, a chance to get his aesthetic but in a more pared-down silhouette, accompanied by a display of 39 of his couture pieces. It is the first proper foray into East Asia for the designer, who is starting to make more noise globally.
Last month, he debuted a spikes-meets-sari collaboration of men’s and women’s shoes designed together with his friend Christian Louboutin. This most recent collaboration with Lane Crawford, however, was inspired by a visit to China Club, the members-only social establishment set up by the late David Tang.
“This is ready-to-wear with a sense of couture, all the finishings and labor-intensive [work] that couture requires, but in much simpler silhouettes,” Mukherjee told WWD, while visiting Hong Kong.

EXCLUSIVE: N.E.R.D Comeback Rumors Fueled With New Fashion Collaboration

Rumblings of N.E.R.D’s impending album release will intensify with news that the experimental rock band — which includes Pharrell Williams, Shae Haley and Chad Hugo — is to release a new fashion collaboration.
The trio — largely dormant for the last decade — has collaborated with Illesteva on limited-edition sunglasses. They have designed oversize frames in four colorways. Each pair of glasses is embedded with a USB drive that houses exclusive short films directed by Christian Padron.
The glasses will launch at ComplexCon on Nov. 4, where the trio is scheduled to give their first live performance in three years.

N.E.R.D, founded in 1999, last released an album in 2010. Williams has since gone on to achieve a successful mainstream solo career — releasing the inescapable schoolyard song, “Happy,” in 2013 as part of the film soundtrack for “Despicable Me 2.” He has also concentrated on fashion, teaming with Chanel and G-Star Raw on assorted projects.
N.E.R.D’s Illesteva collaboration and ComplexCon performance no doubt add to evidence that the group is readying a musical return. Williams has repeatedly confirmed that the group is preparing a new album, though he’s declined to reveal a release date.

EXCLUSIVE: Balenciaga’s Avenue Montaigne Store Opens Sept. 23

INDUSTRIAL CHIC: Balenciaga is to open a boutique Saturday on Avenue Montaigne, transporting the design concept of its minimalist Rue Saint-Honoré store to the tony luxury strip.
The Haussmannian space has been outfitted with industrial touches, such as warehouse conveyor rails, aluminum display tables and slick, gray flooring in resin. Flat benches with thin, khaki-colored velvet cushions contrast with the shell of an old fireplace, original molding and marks from kids who once drew on the walls.
Artwork by American street artist Mark Jenkins is scattered around the store, including the figure of a woman in an oversized, puffy jacket slumped against a smooth, white wall.
With the opening, the brand will count three stores in Paris. The new Avenue Montaigne address, to be Balenciaga’s new Paris flagship, is its second foothold in the golden triangle district, one of the French capital’s most exclusive neighborhoods.
Balenciaga has shuttered its men’s store on Rue de Varenne.
The label has a handful of other locations designed under the eye of its artistic director Demna Gvasalia, including in London and on Madison Avenue in New York.

The 2017 Guggenheim International Gala pre-party and gala are set for Nov. 15 and 16, with the pre-party kicking things off with a set by sister trio Haim.
The annual two-night affair, sponsored by Dior, marks the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation’s 80th anniversary. The pre-party, on Nov. 15, is the more casual, late-night event of the two, with the more formal gala taking place the following evening. The gala will honor artist Cai Guo-Qiang, as well as Guggenheim leader Jennifer Blei Stockman, who was president of the museum’s board of trustees president for 12 years. After a four-year run, Suite 1521, which hosted members-only trunk show events, is winding down its business.
The company was cofounded by Kim Kassel and Lizzie Tisch, longtime friends who set out to reinvigorate the personal shopping experience.
“We’re canceling all of our fall events and we are going to stay open through our shipping period, which will probably be March,” Kassel said on Tuesday. “We have fall and resort orders to ship. We will be fulfilling all of our commitments to our designers and fulfilling all of our orders to our clients.”
The company occupies a 4,000-square-foot showroom and offices at 980 Madison Avenue in New York.
Tisch said the partners couldn’t pinpoint a specific reason for the closing and there were many factors at play. “We had a real specific vision for the business, and it was all about the experience and we tried a number of different avenues. Natalia Vodianova’s star-studded annual Fabulous Fund Fair is coming for New York.
Vodianova’s Naked Heart Foundation will throw its fourth annual Fabulous Fund Fair this October, and for the first time the charitable bash will be held in New York. AmfAR is a first-time partner with the Naked Heart Foundation for the Halloween-themed event, which will take place on Oct. 28. Aside from the Halloween timing, the event promises to be “inspired by” artist Jeff Koons.
The first Fabulous Fund Fair was held in London in 2015, usually during London Fashion Week. A typically celebrity- and model-heavy event, guests have included Stella McCartney, Kristin Scott Thomas, Doutzen Kroes, Liv Tyler, Lara Stone, Baptiste Giabiconi, Toby Huntington-Whiteley, Yasmin and Amber Le Bon, Justine Skye and Corinne Bailey Rae.
Karlie Kloss played cohost with Vodianova for this past February’s event, which raised $ 585,000. Tickets and more information, including location, for this fall’s New York event will be released in the coming months.
Vodianova founded Naked Heart, which benefits children with special needs, in 2004.

MILAN – Further shaping the new course of its communication strategy, Brioni has tapped another legendary actor to front its fall ads: Sir Anthony Hopkins.
The black-and-white portraits were lensed in Los Angeles by Gregory Harris. Hopkins follows Samuel L. Jackson, who was also photographed by Harris for the brand’s spring ads.
The new campaign will break in airport billboards in Rome, at Milan’s Malpensa, and in Beijing on Sept. 1. It will then be rolled out in business and financial newspapers in Japan, Germany, the U.S. and U.K., including The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, The New York Times, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Nikkei Business Publications, as well as related newspaper supplements, such as T Magazine and WSJ. Brioni’s claim is “Tailoring Legends since 1945” – the date the company was founded in Rome – and the polished, sleek photos emphasize the house’s tailoring expertise.

LONDON — Jonathan Anderson was thinking “universal and quirky,” for the first J.W. Anderson collaboration with Uniqlo, a mash-up of urban, collegiate and military-inspired looks and basics in oversized proportions, tartan and stripes.
The 33-piece collection for Uniqlo’s LifeWear, which was first revealed in March, will launch on September 19 in the U.K., followed by other markets. The collection is for men and women with pieces including a duffle coat, an oversized striped turtleneck with ties around the wrists, a crewneck sweater with an abstract fish floating across the front, a tartan down jacket and a matching padded tote.

Céline and Maxfield on Thursday night debuted a pop-up shop at the L.A. retailer featuring an early selection of fall merchandise that will be exclusive to the tony boutique for the initial rollout through June 11.
Among the ready-to-wear items on display in Tommy Perse’s one-of-a-kind Jean Prouvé “Nomade” house, which has become a de facto museum for several of Maxfield’s European designers — taking “experiential” retail to a rarified level — are a satin-back crepe wrap dress and blouse in lipstick red and off-white; a fluid jersey dress with leather trim, and a pink shearling coat.

It’s an interesting week for 25-year-old Harlem native A$ AP Bari to reveal he’s showing Vlone — his highly sought-after streetwear line — during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris.
It’s the same week Gucci has come under fire for a jacket Alessandro Michele presented at his Cruise 2018 show, which looked very similar to a piece Dapper Dan, another designer from Harlem, created in 1989 for Olympic gold medalist Diane Dixon. Dapper Dan, whose real name is Daniel Day, spent the Eighties outfitting celebrities in his custom pieces, which he made by printing luxury logos onto different fabrics. Critics were upset that Gucci wasn’t transparent about the reference. They later acknowledged his influence in an Instagram post.
“I feel like nobody should hate on what somebody gets inspired by,” said Bari, who is a member of the A$ AP Mob collective. “But it’s sad that it takes 20 or 25 years for them to be inspired by Dapper Dan when he could have been a designer for Gucci. Why didn’t Louis Vuitton give him an opportunity to design for them?”
Bari, who has no formal fashion training, is a reflection of how things are slowly shifting and brands are starting to work directly with streetwear designers.

EXCLUSIVE: Charles Cohen Buys Harrys of London

NEW YORK — Charles S. Cohen is expanding his men’s fashion portfolio.
The billionaire commercial real estate developer who purchased a majority stake in Savile Row tailor Richard James in March, has now bought Harrys of London. Terms of the deal for the U.K.-based footwear and accessories label were not disclosed. Harrys was acquired from Palladin Consumer Retail Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm that has owned a majority stake in the brand since 2014.
Following the playbook he established with Richard James, Cohen will assume the position of chairman of Harrys but will retain Steven Newey, Harry’s chief executive officer, to run the business on a day-to-day basis. At Richard James, Sean Dixon, cofounder and managing director, has remained with the label in that role.

EXCLUSIVE: Brioni Confirms Fabrizio Malverdi as New CEO

PARIS — Brioni has charged Fabrizio Malverdi, its new chief executive officer, with accelerating the international expansion of the elite Italian tailor following a period of turmoil, WWD has learned.
Brioni parent Kering said Malverdi, most recently ceo of Agent Provocateur, would assume the management helm on April 18 and report to Jean-François Palus, Kering’s group managing director.
This confirms a report in WWD on Feb. 28 that Malverdi was in line to succeed Gianluca Flore, who exited the role last month.
Malverdi is perhaps best known for his stints as managing director of Dior Homme and as ceo of Givenchy, where he accrued expertise in the high-end men’s wear market.
At Brioni, he will be tasked with repositioning the brand and bringing stability. The company has been in a state of flux after going through two creative directors in less than a year, confounding some customers and retailers. Issues linked to positioning, pricing and communication also weighed on the brand, as did a rationalization of its workforce at its headquarters in Penne, Italy.
Flore, a former Bottega Veneta executive, joined Brioni in November 2014 and handpicked Brioni’s former creative director Justin O’Shea, a women’s retail executive who had no design experience. O’Shea abruptly departed the

EXCLUSIVE: Givenchy Confirms Clare Waight Keller as Next Couturier

NEW YORK – Clare Waight Keller, Givenchy’s next artistic director, is to show her first collection for the French house during Paris Fashion Week in October and has been tasked with propelling its roots as a Fifties couture house further into the modern age.
“She has this great ability to break the rules and innovate without making a revolution,” said Givenchy chief executive officer Philippe Fortunato, who confirmed the hire exclusively to WWD. “Her very focused approach will help the brand in building the ongoing momentum we have – and taking it to the next level.”
An official announcement is expected later today, detailing that her creative responsibilities include women’s and men’s ready-to-wear and accessories collections as well as couture. May 2 is her start date.
Waight Keller becomes Givenchy’s sixth couturier and the first woman at the creative helm, thrusting the former Chloé designer into the haute spotlight as Givenchy marks its 65th anniversary this year.
The fact of having for the first time a woman envisioning the brand, designing for women and men, is unique for the house. That by itself will give it a different angle and a different point of view from the past.

“It didn’t take much convincing since Calvin is such a strong supporter of the cause,” intimated a committee member of GLWD, which prepares and delivers nutritious meals to people living with advanced stages of HIV/AIDS in the New York area. “We’re all just thrilled to see the house,” added the insider.

Riccardo Tisci, who revved up and reinvented Givenchy in his own edgy image, has exited the French house after an electrifying 12-year tenure.
The French couture house confirmed his departure exclusively to WWD, noting that his last collections were fall-winter 2017 men’s wear and fall 2017 couture, which were paraded together at the National Library of France in Paris on Jan. 20.
Sources described the parting as mutual and amicable, the separation effective Jan. 31 following the expiration of his latest employment agreement.

Tisci invited friend and fellow designer Donatella Versace to pose for a 2015 ad campaign. 

Tisci’s departure is sure to intensify speculation he is heading to Versace.
WWD broke the news on Jan. 19 that the Milan-based house has been chasing Tisci, who has long expressed his admiration for the work of the late Gianni Versace and cultivated a close friendship with his sister Donatella, whom he invited to pose in a Givenchy ad campaign in 2015.
In light of Tisci’s departure, Givenchy will not stage a runway show on March 5 during Paris Fashion Week.
It is understood the fall-winter 2017 women’s collection will be designed by the studio and sold to retailers in Givenchy’s Paris showroom as usual.

Exclusive First Look: Sports Illustrated Cover Girl Ashley Graham Returns to Bikinis for New Campaign

Ashley Graham had a breakout moment when she became the first size 16 model to pose for the cover of Sports Illustrated’s annual swimsuit issue in February. This week, the self-proclaimed body activist is back in a bikini, returning as the face of Swimsuits For All to support the brand’s new #MySwimBody campaign, and PeopleStyle has the exclusive first look. The campaign features four women of all ages and sizes alongside Graham, including Olympic hammer thrower Amanda Bingson.

“The #MySwimBody idea means, to me, that anybody has a swim body no matter what age you are, race you are, gender, or size—you can have a swim body,” Graham told us when she dropped by the People offices to discuss the empowerment campaign featuring Swimsuits For All’s latest collection. The campaign includes the images here, as well as a video featuring the five-some, all of which was shot on location in Puerto Rico. “It was so hot and there was sand everywhere,” she said.

The campaign itself and its theme of self-confidence mean a lot to Graham. “It’s important to embrace every type of person,” she said. “There has only been one standard of beauty for so long within the fashion industry. There has always been a small lane that we as curvy women have had. Now fashion is finally caught up. Now, it’s getting wider and wider because a lot more women are asking for it.”

This campaign comes at a time when the word plus-size is buzzing—in both positive and negative ways. Graham is opposed to the term. “For the last 16 years, I’ve been called a plus-size model and I’ve never really embraced the term,” she said. “I’ve just taken it for face value because that’s exactly what people just called me. Personally, I am not a fan of the word for myself because I think it just puts me in a box and it keeps me there.”

“What I would like to do is not be labeled because I want to be in every single box and be embraced for who I am not because of the number inside of my pants,” she continued. “There is a group of women who love the term plus-size and because they love it, they should be called that. Everybody has a different take on it and I’m just happy to promote my body and different types of women.”

It’s not just the campaign that has Graham promoting healthy body image, she also so through her own Instagram account by using inspirational hashtags. One is #BeautyBeyondSize. “The idea of Beauty Beyond Size is something that’s really important to me because it created an element and a whole world for women who normally wouldn’t post photos of themselves in bikinis in lingerie and in dresses. I just wanted to create a tribe and a safe place for women to go and be themselves. So beauty beyond size is for anybody who wants to show themselves off. It doesn’t matter what size you are.”

Another is #ThickThighsSaveLives. “This one is exactly that my thighs are thick, they are luscious,” she said. “I got made fun of for them my whole life and now I’m being praised for my thick thighs and they have saved my life and I want to women to know that their thick thighs are saving their own lives.”

And it’s those thighs and the rest of her body that she loves to show off in swimwear, from triangle bikinis to caged decorative two-pieces—and the more, the better. “Girls who are insecure about their bodies, girls who feel fat, girls who have cellulite, girls who have stretch marks on their body — those are all the things that I had as a kid and I never had a woman like me growing up to look at,” Graham told PeopleStyle previously. “I had my mother and that’s one thing, but to have somebody who has cellulite, who has things that jiggle, who has back fat and talk about how you can be a overcomer and not let society take you down for all of that. That’s real.”

So we had to wonder, what’s the secret to feeling like a sexpot in a swimsuit? She said it’s so simple: “The secret to feeling sexy in a swimsuit is put a swimsuit on and tell yourself ‘I’m sexy’.” Ready to try it?

EXCLUSIVE: Tony The Tiger Victim Of Food Terrorist Plot?

Is someone kidding around with beloved breakfast cereal mascot Tony the Tiger with a series of viral videos showing him helping a sex worker, a suicide bomber and a police officer who savagely beats a female suspect?

Or is a food terrorist trying to commit a cereal killing by making Tony look bad?

Kellogg Co. said it had nothing to do with what it called “offensive” videos posted this week showing its Frosted Flakes mascot behaving badly. Evidence uncovered by The Huffington Post suggests a well-known food activist, Jani Leinonen, may be involved.

The latest video shows a battered woman named Anna seated inside a California cafe.

“Last night I experienced the worst physical abuse of my life, for no reason,” reads a description of the video at tonyisback.com. “I feel so humiliated, betrayed, my whole body is aching. I am angry but I have not found the courage to fight back. I was so lost, but Tony came and encouraged me to go ahead with my plan to show people.”

Tony the Tiger, in the video, encourages Anna to go through with her “plan” by eating a bowl of sugary Frosted Flakes — “They’re grrrrreat,” he says in his trademark shout.

After eating a bit of the cereal, Anna stands up and shows she has a bomb strapped to her chest, which detonates as the video ends.

Actress Gina Ferranti shared a video still shot from the film on Instagram, The Huffington Post’s investigation shows. Ferranti lists the role on her acting resume, which identifies the director and production company responsible for “Tony.”

Neither Ferranti nor her agent replied to HuffPost’s inquiries.

Ferranti’s resume identifies the “Tony” director as Jani Leinonen, an artist from Finland who has been linked to a group of health-food activists called the Food Liberation Army.

The organization was responsible for the Jan. 31, 2010, theft of a life-size Ronald McDonald statue from a McDonald’s fast food restaurant in central Helsinki, according to NPR.org. The kidnappers threatened to decapitate Ronald unless McDonald’s answered questions about the quality of its food and its work ethics. Finnish police identified Leinonen as a suspect and  jailed him for 30 hours, according to a report on the art news website we-make-money-not-art.com.

 Leinonen didn’t respond to a request for comment from HuffPost on Friday.

In her resume, Ferranti identified the company that filmed “Tony” as Route 1, a Los Angeles-based firm that provides production services. 

Route 1’s website says the company has worked with a number of well-known corporations, including Kellogg. Route 1’s show reel includes two commercials for Kellogg’s Special K products.

Route 1 recently shared a photo on its Facebook page that shows its ”amazing crew” with Jani Leinonen at the Malibu Pier.

Route 1 didn’t respond to multiple requests for comment from HuffPost on Friday.

A Kellogg spokesperson, who replied to questions without providing a name, said Friday that the company has no relationship with Leinonen, but didn’t say whether it had worked with Route 1.

“As a company grounded in the values of integrity and respect, we recognize people’s right to creative expression,” the Kellogg spokesperson said in an email. “We also believe these videos are offensive and make light of serious issues that deserve real dialogue. Tony is a beloved icon and we will protect the integrity of our brands and our characters.”

Plus-size fashion is having more than a moment, it’s on the brink of a revolution—and models are taking on a leading role.

From Ashley Graham‘s Sports Illustrated ad to Candice Huffine‘s Pirelli Calendar slot, the community has been on the fashion industry’s lips all year. In the midst of such pronounced media attention, producer and former model Jessica Lewis is getting ready to debut Straight/Curve, a documentary that delves into the world of plus-size modeling.

“This generation of models is ready to usher in a new definition of beauty—one that is all inclusive and supports positive body ideals and self acceptance,” said Lewis, who has spent over 15 years as a straight-size and plus-size model. “The fashion industry needs to be reflective and representative of the diversity that exists in present day society.”

Straight/Curve, set to release next summer, aims to examine and redefine the beauty standards put forth by the fashion industry, as they relate to the plus-size fashion. Most importantly, it will be talking about issues often pushed aside. Multiple people will be speaking about sample sizes and how adding a size 14 into circulation will help get diversely sized models in magazines. Agents will be talking about their move towards eliminating plus-size boards and placing all models together. Models will be talking about making plus-size inclusion a non-event in the media.

The film is the most insider look at the industry so far, going behind the scenes of New York’s plus-size fashion industry, with a focus on top models, agents, clients, and photographers. The trailer is already loaded with power players, but there are some top models being kept a surprise… So far, we know it will follow industry influencers, including Kate Dillon, Sophie T. Simmons, and Jennie Runk, among others (including this Glamour writer!).

Overall, Straight/Curve aims to expose the complex relationship between the fashion industry, mainstream media, and body image in society. “When, how, and why did size zero become the norm when two thirds of women are considered ‘plus-size’ sitting between a size 10 to 14?” Director Jenny McQuaile told Glamour. “Our documentary will examine this question. There’s always been a complex relationship between the fashion industry, the media, and body image and we’re finally making a film that will investigate that.”

Question: This Sunday at the American Theatre Wing’s Tony Awards, after the last circular medallion is handed out at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, what happens next?

For the fifth year, the nominees, presenters and other VIPs hightail it to the famous and historic Plaza Hotel for a Tony gala for the ages. “We’re the only event that takes over the entirety of the Plaza Hotel including the Todd English Food Court, the Palm Court and the Terrace Room. That makes it very special,” says Charlotte St. Martin, president of The Broadway League, which presents the Tony Awards along with the American Theatre Wing.

This year’s theme is Marie Antoinette with shades of pink, flowers and crystal galore. “It’s very Versailles-looking, which certainly matches the decor of the Plaza,” says St. Martin. In fact, the shindig has been in the works for an entire year. As Heather Hitchens, president of the American Theatre Wing explains, “The Tonys is June 7. On June 8, we begin planning next year’s Tonys.”

Dancing With the Stars went big for season 20, and so did Erin Andrews. Not only did she take more fashion risks (jumpsuits and crop tops, anyone?), but she also ditched her Gisele-like extensions and cut her hair the shortest we’ve ever seen it. Before the first half of this week’s two-night finale, Erin exclusively talked to Glamour about her favorite looks of the season, and the reason behind that majorly chic chop!

erin-andrews-crop-top-pantsuit“The two looks that I loved the most were two pantsuits, because that’s so me” Erin says. “I was so pumped to be able to do that in a fun way that was proper for the ballroom. Wearing a ball gown is great, but I feel more myself when I’m in pantsuit.”

erin-andrews-disney-night-2015“I really loved the yellow Prada we did for Disney night. It was just so perfect, and kind of like a Disney dress,” she says. “I stood in front of the [step and repeat] and started spinning around and it just felt so princess-y. The show was so magical that night.”


“A lot of people have been so sweet about [this Monique Lhuillier dress],” Erin says. “[People] said I either looked like a Disney princess of Glenda the Good Witch.”

We can all be honest, I’m obsessed with Gisele, but I was tired of the mermaid weave, and who was I really fooling with that whole thing after a while? I just wanted to change it up for a bit. It’s a different look and fun to play around with it.”

“It’s been a major tease to be able to wear Martin Katz jewels this season because it’s the most gorgeous diamonds I’ve ever been able to wear,” she says. “I hate taking them off at the end of the night! The pictures and television don’t do it justice, but when I put it on in my dressing room, everyone gasps.”

“For tonight’s show, we originally weren’t into the dress I’m going to be wearing. But once I cut my hair, we tried it back on the other day and it looked great. I think for the finale, I’ve worn a little fancier, grander, ballroom gown, so we’ll probably do that again. So who does Erin think will win the special gold Mirrorball trophy tomorrow night? “Riker Lynch and Rumer Willis obviously have had the judges scores, but Noah Galloway is America’s sweetheart right now. People are pulling for him as they should for what he’s went through in his life and what he’s done for our country. I’m so excited. I’m honored that I got to know these three stars and everybody has been wonderful to work with. I think it’s going to be an emotional two nights.”
