Justin Bieber’s Manager Says He Once Feared Singer Would Die from ‘So Much Crap in His System’

Scooter Braun says that he once thought Justin Bieber would die in his sleep.

The music manager, 37, opened up about the “What Do You Mean?” singer’s dark past in a wide-ranging interview on Van Lathan’s The Red Pill podcast.

“I thought he was going to die,” Braun said candidly about Bieber, 24, in the discussion released Wednesday. “I thought he was going to go to sleep one night and have so much crap in his system that he would not wake up the next morning.”

Braun explained, “There was a time where I would go to sleep almost every night, when he had the money to fly away from me, and I was worried every night that I was going to lose him.”

RELATED: Ariana Grande Defends Her Quick Engagement — and Justin Bieber’s — as Fans Criticize Their Shared Manager

Braun said he tried to save Bieber by keeping him from his music. “That was the time where I was telling him he’s not allowed to work,” Braun recalled. “And he used to yell and scream at me. He wanted to put music out, he wanted to tour, but I thought if he did that, he would die. So I just refused. We weren’t making any money … I didn’t want him to work because I wanted him to get healthy.”

Braun says that Bieber, who is engaged to Hailey Baldwin, is now in a much healthier place, all thanks to Bieber’s own determination. “I think that he made a conscious choice for himself to change,” Braun shared. “It wasn’t until one day he woke up and said, ‘Hey, I need to talk to you. I don’t want to be this person anymore.’ He made the decision to change and actually put that into action. The result is who he’s become today.”

RELATED VIDEO: Hailey Baldwin Cuddles Up to ‘Absolute Best Friend’ Justin Bieber & Shows Off Ring in New Photo

In March 2013, after a week in which Bieber was treated for shortness of breath mid-show and lunged at a photographer, a source told PEOPLE, “He’s wildin’ out. On a scale of hot sauce, he’s a mild, but his money is so hot, it can get him anything.”

The next month, police raided Bieber’s tour bus in Sweden and confiscated drugs.

Then, in January 2014, Bieber’s home was raided by police after he allegedly threw eggs at a neighbor’s house.

Weeks later, he was arrested in Miami for DUI. “Mr. Bieber made a statement that he had consumed some alcohol, and that he had been smoking marijuana and had consumed some prescription medication,” a Miami Beach Police spokesperson said at the time.

“The people close to him try, but he’s a mess,” an industry source told PEOPLE in 2014. “He acts as though he’s never heard the word ‘no’ and he thinks he’s God.”

RELATED: Justin Bieber’s Manager Scooter Braun Shows Off the Home Ellen DeGeneres Convinced Him to Buy

Speaking on Lathan’s The Red Pill podcast, Braun reflected on the scrutiny Bieber’s behavior received. “I think Justin is an extraordinary young man who has been given an extraordinary life, and because of that he cannot complain that he’s held to extraordinary standards,” Braun said. “He used to complain, he used to fight it, and that’s kind of what got him into a dark place.”

Braun continued, “But when he accepted his responsibility and took a hard look at himself and not what everyone else was doing, that’s when he owned it, and he got healthy, and he got better, and he made the choice to change.”

Zac Posen Presents Spring — With a Little Help From Friends

Like lots of designers, Zac Posen wears many hats. In fact, he says it shakes out to 16 collections a year. He designs for Brooks Brothers; recently updated the uniforms at Delta Air Lines; released a cookbook; judges on “Project Runway,” and released a documentary. But it was his namesake label that started it all.
To present that collection for spring 2019, Posen is once again forgoing a traditional runway show — something he has done for several seasons — in favor of images and a film. The difference this season is that the film has a more narrative- and character-driven feeling. Gia Coppola shot the piece, with Maya Hawke as muse. To Posen, Hawke was more than just a subject — both she and Coppola are close personal friends, and Hawke, who was looped in and confirmed while he was still designing the collection, helped to influence his designs for the season. So spring 2019 was a family affair.
“The original Zac girl is a creative free spirit. When I think of my early muses, this collection has almost come full circle to that idea. It’s not grande dame, or overt glamour, there is a new side to it,” he says

Lingerie Is Getting a Lift From Newcomers Harnessing Digital, Fit Technologies

LONDON — A sea change in how women view bras — along with fit technologies and social media — is helping a clutch of direct-to-consumer entrants make headway in the lingerie category as some of its brick-and-mortar stalwarts grapple with slowing sales.
This includes American lingerie brand Lively, founded by a former Victoria’s Secret executive, who spied an opportunity in more inclusive brand messaging and fit innovations.
“Victoria’s Secret owns a third to 40 percent, depending on what data you look at, of the U.S. lingerie market, which is around $ 13 billion,” said Michelle Cordeiro Grant, founder and chief executive officer of Lively. According to Zion Market Research, the global lingerie market was valued at $ 38.9 billion in 2017 and is expected to reach $ 59.5 billion by 2024.
Cordeiro Grant is a former Victoria’s Secret executive and it was during her time at the brand that she noticed a potential for differentiation in the sector. Sales were down 5 percent across Victoria Secret stores in the U.S. and Canada for 2018, according to L Brands’ June 2018 sales report.
“Their point of view on lingerie is how do women feel when their significant other is looking at them. What I felt from a branding

From the Plastic Straw Void Comes $300 Luxury Versions

Behold the $ 300 straw.
Seizing on the plastic straw ban, which have been widely declared an environmental nuisance, fashion firms are stepping up to offer fancy versions of metal straws — some painted with colorful stripes, others dipped in gold. Already two jewelry companies are leveraging their expertise in precious metals to create straws that enable them to “join the conversation.”
Tiffany & Co. introduced one in the fall as part of its Everyday Objects collection of home items designed by Reed Krakoff. Curlicue like a piglet’s tail, it comes in yellow and rose gold vermeil as well as pure sterling silver, priced between $ 250 and $ 350.
“As plastic waste continues to pose a serious threat to our oceans, we’re proud to offer these enduring and finely crafted precious metal straws as an ocean-friendly alternative for sipping in style,” Tiffany’s chief sustainability officer Anisa Kamadoli Costa told WWD.

Some Reddit commenters wondered if the Tiffany design signaled a larger cultural shift. “Should the term change to ‘born with a silver straw in his mouth’?” pondered Grafter8.

9 Key Quotes from Meghan Markle That Reveal Everything You Need to Know About the Duchess

Years before Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, she was an actress struggling to find self-confidence as she went after her Hollywood dreams. Meghan says it wasn’t until a casting director told her, “You are enough,” that she started to believe it — and it’s a message she’s been sharing ever since.

ON FINDING YOUR VALUE

“I was in my early 20s, still figuring so much out, and trying to find my value in an industry that judges you on everything that you’re not versus everything that you are. Not thin enough, not pretty enough, not ethnic enough, while also being too thin, too ethnic, too pretty the very next day.”

from Darling Magazine‘s essay, “It’s All Enough”

ON GETTING DRESSED UP

“You can be a woman who wants to look good and still stand up for the equality of women.”

from her keynote speech at the Create & Cultivate conference 2016

ON ACCEPTING YOURSELF

“That five pounds lost won’t make you happier, that more makeup won’t make you prettier, that the now iconic saying from Jerry Maguire — ‘You complete me’ — frankly, isn’t true. You are complete with or without a partner. You are enough just as you are.”

from The Tig

ON FALLING IN LOVE WITH PRINCE HARRY

“I’m still the same person that I am, and I’ve never defined myself by my relationship.”

from her Vanity Fair cover in September 2017

ON CHOOSING TO BE YOURSELF

“Make a choice: continue living your life feeling muddled in this abyss of self-misunderstanding, or you find your identity independent of it.”

from Elle UK essay, “I’m More Than an Other”

ON CAREER ASPIRATIONS

“I’ve never wanted to be a lady who lunches — I’ve always wanted to be a woman who works. And this type of work is what feeds my soul and fuels my purpose.”

from Elle UK essay, “With Fame Comes Opportunity, But Also A Responsibility”

ON REJECTING LABELS

“You draw your own box. You introduce yourself as who you are … You create the identity you want for yourself.”

from Elle UK essay, “I’m More Than an Other”

ON FINDING YOUR PASSION

“Don’t give it five minutes if you’re not going to give it five years.”

from her keynote speech at the Create & Cultivate conference 2016

ON BEING KIND

“We just need to be kinder to ourselves. If we treated ourselves the way we treated our best friend, can you imagine how much better off we would be? … Yes, you can have questions and self-doubt, that’s going to come up, that’s human.”

from an interview with BT TV

Carole Radziwill Says She Walked Away from Something That Went Against Her Values After RHONY Exit

Carole Radziwill is asking fans what they would do if they were in her shoes.

On Friday, just days after announcing her departure from the Real Housewives of New York, the reality star polled her Instagram followers to see whether they would follow their hearts or put their bank accounts first.

In an Instagram Story, Radziwill, 54, posed a question to her fans, “If you were doing something that was forcing you to do things that went against your own value system would you walk away regardless of the pay? Its a tough decision.”

After fans overwhelming voted “yes” on her survey, the journalist wrote, “So 80% would walk away from something that went against their own values.”

It was a decision, she told fans, that she was forced to make recently.

“That’s how I felt this past year too. It’s difficult but life is long and you can’t always play the short game,” the star added.

It appears she is very happy with that decision, as the best-selling author was beaming in the photograph.

The smiling star looked chic but casual in a pair of ripped jeans and a white T-shirt as she soaked in some sun during her vacation in Aspen, Colorado.

“I am sure this does not come as a surprise to any of the viewers, all of whom have been supportive, encouraging, and kind. My original curiosity about reality television has waned over the years and I am focusing on TV and writing projects that better suit my more steady temperament,” Radziwill told PEOPLE in a statement on Wednesday.

PEOPLE learned that her ongoing feud with Bethenny Frankel also influenced her choice, as indicated by the portion of her statement in which she said she was “thrilled to leave frenemies behind.”

“They never seemed to be able to reconcile. The show couldn’t go on another season with both of them at each other’s throats. And Bethenny’s an OG. She’s been there since the beginning. She’s a , but she gives the show a lot of energy,” a source tells PEOPLE. “There’s no way they’re going to do it without her. Last time she left, the show went to hell.”

However, one production source insists that as far as producers are concerned, Radziwill could have chosen to stay: “She was not pushed to leave. She left on her own accord.”

She ended her statement with sincerity and wit. “I have worked with amazing producers, made great friends, and I’m thrilled to leave frenemies behind,” Radziwill wrote. “I will remember this entire experience with delight, humor, and a veracious accuracy. Next.”

In RHONY‘s tenth season, airing now, Radziwill has had a pretty epic fallout with Frankel, though she’s still friendly with Tinsley Mortimer, Ramona Singer, Dorinda Medley, Sonja Morgan and Luann de Lesseps.

On Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen Wednesday, Ramona Singer told Cohen she’s “sad” to see Radziwill go.

“I love Carole inside and out. I think she’s really warm, special, down to earth, truthful, giving, kind, supportive of women, genuine, smart fabulous. I’m like, ‘Wow.’ I’m going to miss not being with her doing the next season. It’s going to be a void,” Singer said, shaking her head. “This is going to be a void for me,” Singer added.

Thai Soccer Team Thought They’d Have to Ride Their Bikes Home After Digging Tunnel from Cave

The 12 members of the Wild Boars youth soccer team and their coach never stopped thinking of ways to free themselves from the flooded Tham Luang Nang Non cave in northern Thailand during the weeks-long ordeal that captured global attention.

In a Wednesday press conference, the boys — ranging in age from 11 to 16 — revealed that they licked water from the cave’s walls to survive and took turns using rocks to try to dig a tunnel. They had a plan in place. But, little did they know, a slew of rescue teams and ambulances were waiting for them outside.

“We were thinking… we would have to ride our bicycles home,” team’s coach, Ekapol “Aek” Chanthawong said, according to Todaynoting that the group decided that the boys who lived the furthest away would leave through their handmade tunnel first.

The group went into the cave on June 23 for an hour-long excursion, but became stuck when heavy rains and rising floodwaters blocked their exit. Police said they believe the team crawled into the cave through a narrow 15-meter long channel. Officials launched a massive search for the group after a park officer found the boys’ backpacks, bicycles and soccer cleats abandoned outside the cave, CNN reported.

RELATED: Tears, Hunger and Fear: Inside Thailand Youth Soccer Team’s 2 Weeks Trapped in Flooded Cave

The team was initially found on July 2, and authorities grappled with how to safely free them from the cave. By July 10, the players and their coach had been successfully rescued and taken to a local hospital where they received vaccinations. In footage from the Chiang Rai Prachanukroh hospital, the boys appeared to be in good spirits as they sat up in their hospital beds with masks over their faces.

In the wake of the rescue, the boys have been open about their ordeal, detailing the weeks they spent in the dark, wet cave. One boy — who turned 13 in the cave — said the hungry group couldn’t help but talk about food as they struggled to survive.

“The more we talked about it, the hungrier we got,” the teen said, according to Today. “I’m so happy to be at home and sleep in my own bed.”

According to ABC News, Chanthawong said at Wednesday’s press conference that the group made the decision to go deeper into the cave after they found their exit flooded. Still, they never expected to be inside for so long.

“The water went up to my shoulder. So everyone followed me,” he said. “I didn’t worry at that time because I thought the water would lower down overnight and we could get out.”

RELATED: Thai Soccer Team Trapped in Cave for Weeks Lived Off Water, Didn’t Think Rescue Diver Was ‘Real’

As the hours passed, the boys became worried. But Chanthawong said he assured them that they weren’t lost. They had no food or water when they entered the cave and, when they weren’t digging through the cave’s walls, they would sit still to save their energy.

“I felt weak and very hungry,” 11-year-old Chanin Vibulrungruang — the youngest of the group, said — according to ABC. “I drank water to make me full.”

Now, as the boys and their coach recover from the incident, they all agree on one thing: they’ll never go into the cave again.

“If someone invites me, I would say no,” Chanthawong said. “I would only join them from in front of the cave as a guide to other people.”

Demi Lovato Debuts New Blonde Hue! All the Scoop From Her Colorist

Demi Lovato is having a blonde moment.

Lovato teased her hair change on her Instagram story on Tuesday, showing off lighter locks from usual, dark black tresses.

Stylist Amber Maynard Bolt confirmed Lovato’s dramatic new ‘do to PEOPLE, revealing the shade was created using Joico’s LumiShine and Joico’s Blonde Life at Los Angeles’ Nine Zero One salon, with assistance from Anthony Holguin.

“She had not done a change in a while and wanted something new,” Maynard Bolt tells PEOPLE. “Usually she is open and willing to do big changes. She had her short black hair for a while and was growing it out, and when it got longer to play with, she decided to do this change.”

The colorist — who has worked with Lovato for seven years and has changed the singer’s hair to everything from pink to purple in the past —spills that the star, 25, knew what look she wanted going into the appointment. And notes this was no quick salon visit.

RELATED: Did Demi Lovato Just Shade Her Life Coach? Singer Sends Fans Into Overdrive After Cryptic Tweet

The entire process took two days, with the team starting at 4:00 p.m.on the first day and not wrapping up until midnight. The next day began at 9:00 a.m.

“We are there for a while, so at times we have Netflix binge, and we watch some shows,” explains Maynard Bolt. “Her chef will make her very healthy food and bring it to her…She also scrolls Instagram and make phone calls, hangs out, and chats with us most the time.”

Lovato’s new look comes amid a difficult time for the “Tell Me You Love Me” singer. In her new single “Sober,” Lovato shared with fans that she had relapsed after six years of sobriety.

RELATED: Iggy Azalea Admits Knowing About Demi Lovato’s Relapse: ‘I Wanted Her to Be the One to Tell’

“Mama, I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore,” she sang. “And daddy please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor.”

Lovato’s pal Iggy Azalea, 28, recently told Entertainment Tonight that she knew about the star’s relapse before the song’s release.

“I had known about it, as a close friend,” Azalea explained to ET. “So I had really wanted for her to be the one to tell people that. And I worried a lot, as her friend, that something was going to leak or somebody would somehow take that and use it negatively against her, or to make her seem like she’s got a secret.”

As Lovato deals with the changes in her life, she is enjoying her new look. “It’s very soft and pretty on her,” Maynard Bolt says. “It brings more dimension and looks great with her natural root in there. Doesn’t look too dramatic since the color doesn’t start on the scalp. It can grow out pretty and natural.”

Adds Maynard Bolt, “She looks beautiful, and we are totally obsessed with it.”

George and Amal Clooney Donate $100,000 to Help Migrant Children Separated from Families

George and Amal Clooney are weighing in on the migrant children crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border — and doing their part to help the separated families.

One year after welcoming twins Ella and Alexander, the couple reflected on how their son and daughter will react when they learn about how children were taken from their parents who are caught illegally crossing the border.

“At some point in the future our children will ask us: ‘Is it true, did our country really take babies from their parents and put them in detention centers?’ And when we answer yes, they’ll ask us what we did about it. What we said. Where we stood,” the Clooneys said in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE. “We can’t change this administration’s policy but we can help defend the victims of it.”

They added, “Today, the Clooney Foundation for Justice will donate $ 100,000 to the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights.”

The Clooney Foundation has also sponsored the resettlement of Syrian and Yazidi refugees in the U.S.

RELATED: The Most Heartbreaking Photos of Children at the U.S.-Mexico Border — and How You Can Help

The Young Center’s Executive Director, Maria Woltjen, thanked the couple for their support during this “vital” time.

“This Administration’s policy disregards international law and basic principles of human decency. To treat children in such a cruel manner not only violates their legal rights but also their basic needs,” she said in a statement. “We are doing everything we can to advocate on behalf of the thousands of children who are separated and alone, and we are grateful for the generous support of George and Amal Clooney and the Clooney Foundation for Justice — it could not be more vital at this time.”

The Clooneys join a number of other stars who have blasted the Trump administration’s “zero-tolerance” immigration policy, which prosecutes undocumented immigrants who cross the border between the U.S. and Mexico. Since implementing the policy, more than 2,300 children have been separated from their parents since April, according to the Associated Press.

After House Speaker Paul Ryan shared a Father’s Day post on Twitter talking about how his life changed when he became a dad, John Legend shot back, “Seriously, f— you. Reunite the families at the border and we can talk about father’s day.”

RELATED: Fundraiser to Reunite Migrant Parents with Their Children Raises Over $ 6 Million in 4 Days – After Initially Aiming at Raising $ 1,500

The tweet came days after Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, announced they were making a $ 288K donation to the ACLU on President Trump’s birthday to draw attention to the “immigrant families seeking asylum and refuge in America being ripped apart due to the inhumane policies of the Trump administration.”

Kathy Griffin, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Reese Witherspoon, Ellen DeGeneres and more celebrities also spoke out against the current conditions.

In her first public commentary about President Trump and his administration, former First Lady Laura Bush wrote an opinion piece for the Washington Post that was published on Father’s Day and criticized the immigration policies.

“I live in a border state. I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart,” Mrs. Bush wrote.

In another surprising move, current First Lady Melania Trump released a statement about her husband’s controversial immigration policy.

“Mrs. Trump hates to see children separated from their families,” her communications director, Stephanie Grisham, told PEOPLE.

Grisham added that her boss is calling on Democrats and Republicans to fix the nation’s immigration crisis.

“ hopes both sides of the aisle can finally come together to achieve successful immigration reform,” Grisham said, adding that Mrs. Trump “believes we need to be a country that follows all laws, but also a country that governs with heart.”

Draper James and Rockets of Awesome Collaborate for Children’s Wear With Help From SCAD Students

YOUNG ENOUGH: For its Mommy & Me capsule collection, Reese Witherspoon’s lifestyle brand Draper James tapped Rockets of Awesome to produce it and Savannah College of Art and Design students to help design it.
The SCAD students pitched in on what is the Nashville-based brand’s first venture into children’s apparel. Like the Reese Witherspoon-founded brand’s women’s collection, the styles for the junior set is southernlike in that there are plenty of stripes and true blue styles. SCAD students in the Collaborative Learning Center — fashion, accessory design, graphic design, fashion marketing and management, and fibers — helped design the collection over the course of a semester. That experience included a few classes led by Draper James’ team. Their designs were featured in the university’s annual fashion show SCAD FASHWKND.
The confirmation that “Legally Blonde 3” is in the works wasn’t the only celebratory news that Witherspoon had to share in the past few days with her 13 million Instagram followers. Was Fred Rogers a Navy SEAL? Plus What Else We Learned from New Mr. Rogers Documentary

Long before the cacophony of today’s TV with its thousands of channels, squabbling housewives and violent games of thrones, an unlikely icon emerged with an unpopular idea — quality educational programming for very young kids. With Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, Fred McFeely Rogers left an indelible mark on millions with his quiet sincerity and life lessons. The Pennsylvania-born Presbyterian minister “just wanted to make people feel good,” says his friend and the show’s floor manager Nick Tallo.

50 years after the show began and 15 years after Rogers’s death at 74, a new documentary, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, explores the life and legacy of the man inside those iconic sweaters. “His decision to level with kids in a very sensitive way was his greatest accomplishment,” says director Morgan Neville. “Spending time with him today is like revisiting a part of yourself.” Here are five things we learned about TV’s king of kindness from Neville’s documentary.

He had a difficult childhood

Born in 1928 to parents James and Nancy, Rogers was shy and sickly as a boy—“I had every imaginable childhood disease, even scarlet fever,” he recalls in the film—and therefore spent much of his time alone in his room crafting elaborate stories with puppets and writing music. After earning a divinity degree and a master’s degree in child development, Rogers worked for NBC in New York City before developing his own show at Pittsburgh’s public-TV station WQED. “People thought about toddlers very differently 50 years ago,” says Neville. “He was so far ahead of the curve.”

He fought racism on-air

Despite the show’s calm atmosphere, Rogers didn’t shy away from controversial issues. During his first season in 1968, he produced a special to help kids cope after Robert F. Kennedy’s assassination. The next year he tackled racial tensions when he invited black costar François Clemmons, as the neighborhood police officer, to join him in a kiddie pool and helped dry Clemmons’s feet with a towel. “At that time in the nation, white people in urban settings were putting acid in swimming pools to keep black people out of the pools,” recalls Clemmons. “He was very much aware of what was happening in America. He didn’t put his head in the sand. I’ve had countless people over the years tell me how deeply, deeply meaningful it was.”

The Land of Make Believe occasionally followed him home

“He used puppet voices at the dinner table with his children when he wanted to express different facets of his personality,” says Neville. Which, according to his wife of 50 years, Joanne, 90, was the same on TV and at home. “He was to me and to the family who he is to everybody else,” she says. The couple met while studying music at Rollins College and married in1952 (Rogers proposed in a letter). They have two sons, James, 58, and John, 57, who spent much of their younger years visiting the set. “We all came to an understanding of this is who he was, and this is what life was going to be,” Joanne, a professional pianist, says of navigating Rogers’s fame and work commitments. “Over the years we learned that maybe we needed our own lives too, so that’s how we dealt with that.”

No, he wasn’t a Navy SEAL

With the rise of the Internet, outlandish urban legends emerged—including that Rogers had secretly been a Navy SEAL or wore long sleeves to cover tattoos. “People have an idea of what they want him to be, so they create a legend,” says Clemmons of the rumors—including those questioning his sexuality. “Fred was nurturing, loving, gentle and very much heterosexual,” says Clemmons, who came out as gay himself decades later and says Rogers became a surrogate father to him.

He’s missed more than ever

Joanne says that her husband’s lasting legacy is his clarity about what he stood for—kindness, goodness and neighborliness. “He did in his life what he said was so important, which is to give the gift of his honest self,” she says. Adds Tallo: “It’s sad to know that there aren’t very many people as nice as Fred anymore. No matter what, he could make you say to yourself, ‘It’s okay.’ ”

Won’t You Be My Neighbor? is now playing in select theaters.

Ellen Pompeo’s Purse Stolen From Her While She Vacations in Italy: ‘I Blame the Rosé’

Ellen Pompeo‘s Italian vacation hit a little bit of a bump in the road on Friday when a thief snatched her purse from her in Florence.

The Grey’s Anatomy star, 48, shared the news of her robbery on Instagram, writing, “My purse was stolen from right under my nose!!”

“I blame the rosé!!” Pompeo joked.

Luckily, Pompeo’s bag was recovered — a good thing for both the star and the thief, as Pompeo was ready to fight him or her.

“Grazia to who ever stole it for dropping it on the street exactly in tact,” Pompeo wrote. “I was tracking my phone and chasing you down… had I caught you… it would not have ended well for you… I am nice but lets not forget my heritage… NAPOLITANO…. hai furtuno y io hai destine 👊🏼🇮🇹😘.”

“Also I hope you were smiling because e Sarai catturato perche sei in macchina 📷📷🎞” Pompeo added, explaining that the thief had been caught by security cameras and would be captured.

The actress also took time to thank the Florence police, who were in the picture she shared, and the staff at the Ristorante & Wine Bar dei Frescobaldi, where she was was dining at the time.

“Grazia a polizia Di Firenzia squadro volanti y resterante Frescobaldi,” Pompeo wrote in Italian, later teasing that her use of the language might not have been exact. “Please forgive my horrible Italian.”

Pompeo is traveling in between seasons of Grey’s. The acclaimed ABC medical drama will return for its 15th season this fall.

She’s been with the show since the beginning, starring as the title character Meredith Grey, and recently negotiated her $ 20 million salary — making her the highest paid women on television.

“I was really tired and I knew was stepping away, so it was a moment for me to say, ‘If I’m going to stay, I’m away from my kids a lot, it’s really got to be worth my while. I have to break some glass ceiling to have it worth it for me to stay,’ ” Pompeo previously told PEOPLE of her negotiation.

“I had support and I had the courage to do it and I was also completely willing to walk away,” she continued. “I was ready for it to not go my way, that’s the most important thing. It might not go your way, you’ve got to be okay with that.”

As for her trip to Italy, should she get in any more trouble, Pompeo could always call on her Grey’s costar Giacomo Gianniotti.

The actor, who plays Dr. Andrew DeLuca on the show, commented on her Instagram, offering his support (and help with her Italian, should she need it).

“C’mon Ellen! You didn’t hit up your boy for an Italian translation?” he joked. “Haha I’ll be there in July and I’ll be on the prowl for your boy, he don’t stand a chance. Glad you are safe!”
