Omarosa Manigault Gave Her 39-Person Bridal Party a Tour of the White House Before Her Wedding: Report

Omarosa Manigault, an assistant to president Donald Trump and director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison, brought her 39-person bridal party to the White House for an extended wedding photo shoot, Politico reported Tuesday.

The 43-year-old former Apprentice star married husband John Allen Newman on April 8 at the Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C.

Four unnamed White House officials told Politico that prior to her nuptials, Manigualt staged an “extended wedding photo shoot” at the White House in her bridal attire — something that caught “fellow senior aids and some security officials” by surprise as “some lawyers and other senior aides were not briefed in advance.”

Her visitors were said to have “loudly wandered around” the Rose Garden and West Wing, sources told Politico.

Manigault was banned from posting the pictures online, Politico reports, with White House officials citing security and ethical concerns. It’s unclear whether she received formal permission for the photo shoot ahead of time.

Reps for Manigault did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Sources told Politico that Manigault has been seen as “a particular problem” in the Office of Public Liaison, citing a heated appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists conference in New Orleans in August. Politico reported that Manigault also stoked a mini-controversy in June by signing invitations for Congressional Black Caucus members to meet Trump as the “Honorable Omarosa Manigault,” which aides told the site became “a punch line in the White House.”

Politico also reported that Trump “continues to like Manigault.”

As fans know, Manigualt rose to fame in 2004 as a contestant on Trump’s reality TV show. Though he ultimately fired her, the two remained on good terms — with Manigault returning for a Celebrity Apprentice season. She later served as a prominent Trump surrogate and his director of African-American outreach during his presidential campaign.

Before her wedding, Manigualt celebrated a bridal going away party with her White House co-workers, including Kellyanne Conway.

Late Night Hosts Gave Donald Trump The Best Gags For His 71st Birthday

Late night TV hosts wished President Donald Trump a happy 71st birthday in their own amusing way.

Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, James Corden and Seth Meyers each used their Wednesday night broadcasts to give the president a “gift” in the form of a gag.

Kimmel imagined Trump giving himself a birthday message ― from himself:

“Late Late Show” host Corden said he was just glad that Trump could finally have a day “where he’s the center of attention.”

Corden also suggested the perfect gift for the president, before suggesting he take the day (and the week, and the month and the next four years) off:

On “Late Night,” meanwhile, Meyers joked about how Trump was now “a man in his 70s, who wants a golf score in the 60s, his country in the ’50s and his wife in her 20s.”

And “Tonight Show” host Fallon imagined just some of the birthday cards that Trump could have received ― including ones from Russian President Vladimir Putin and White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer:

Serena Williams Pens Moving Instagram Post to Baby: ‘You Gave Me the Strength I Didn’t Know I Had’

Serena Williams can’t wait to meet her little bundle of joy.

The tennis champion took to Instagram on Monday morning, posting a moving love note to her unborn baby — just days after news broke that she and her fiancé Alexis Ohanian are expecting their first child.

“My Dearest Baby, You gave me the strength I didn’t know I had. You taught me the true meaning of serenity and peace. I can’t wait to meet you. I can’t wait for you to join the players box next year,” Williams, 35, wrote alongside a photo of herself lounging in a swimsuit.

“But most importantly, I am so happy to share being number one in the world with you …. once again today. On @alexisohanian bday. 😉 from the world’s oldest number one to the world’s youngest number one. — Your Mommy.”

Want all the latest pregnancy and birth announcements, plus celebrity mom blogs? Click here to get those and more in the PEOPLE Babies newsletter.

The sweet post comes as Williams appeared to be on a babymoon. Her Instagram page has been riddled with shots of the athlete on a beach.

The star broke the pregnancy news last week with a simple mirror selfie on Snapchat, writing, “20 weeks” — with her baby bump clearly visible.

A rep for the tennis star later told PEOPLE, “I’m happy to confirm Serena is expecting a baby this fall.”

The headline-making baby news comes just a few months after the tennis great announced that she is engaged to the Reddit co-founder. Williams, who likes to keep her personal life private, made the announcement in a poem on Reddit.

“I came home. A little late. Someone had a bag packed for me. And a carriage waited. Destination: Rome,” she wrote. “To escort me to my very own ‘charming.’ Back to where our stars first collided. And now it was full circle. At the same table we first met by chance.”

Williams added, “But by choice. Down on knee. He said 4 words. And I said yes.” Ohanian posted his fiancée’s Reddit announcement on Facebook, captioning it simply, “She said yes.”

Williams holds the record for the most Grand Slam titles of any player in the Open Era, clinching her 23rd at January’s Australian Open.

This will be the first child for both.

My Mom Gave Me The Best Wedding Gift Of All, And It Didn’t Cost A Dime

There’s a piece of advice my mom gave me before my wedding ― long before I was engaged, even. I’ve passed the wisdom on to other friends who married both before and after me.

It goes like this: Before each big moment ― walking down the aisle, being introduced as a married couple for the first time, toasting the marriage during speeches ― take a mental picture in your head. Use your eyes to mimic the flash of a camera shutter. Blink, we’re doing our first dance. Blink, we’re feeding each other wedding cake.

My mom says she used this trick ― really an exercise in mindfulness, long before it became a buzzword ― at her own wedding over 30 years ago and remembers the day with great clarity. She recalls seeing my dad at the end of the aisle as she entered the synagogue with her mother, my father stepping on the glass as is custom at Jewish weddings while the guests yelled “Mazel Tov!” She remembers being introduced for the first time as Mr. and Mrs., cutting the cake and asking my dad not to smush it all over her face (he put a dollop on her cheek instead). She talks about taking portraits before the ceremony at the Bel Air Hotel and retreating there at the end of the night; my husband and I chose to do the same to capture a bit of their wedding magic on our own big day.

But it’s really her advice that brought the magic. Sure, the wedding was only seven months ago, but I remember it in vivid detail ― it didn’t pass by in a whoosh like other friends and colleagues described. The night goes by fast, but making a conscious effort to be in the moment helped me memorialize both the big and little moments that made the day so special: walking down the steps of our high school where my husband and I first met to snap some photos by our lockers. Seeing our reception space for the first time, taking in all the beauty and hard work that made it happen. Singing softly to each other as we did our first dance. Feeling immensely loved by all our family and friends who had counted down as eagerly to the wedding as we had; my mom actually recalls the same of her big day.

Below, I’ve shared photos of some of the treasured moments I took snapshots of in my head. But my takeaway is this: Don’t let the day pass you by. Do whatever you can to be present and in the moment ― even if it requires a few extra blinks here and there.

The FCC just gave you a reason to hold off on buying a 4K TV

The FCC just gave you a reason to hold off on buying a 4K TVOver-the-air 4K broadcasts are coming, but you might want to hold off at getting a new UHD set just yet. The Federal Communications Commission voted Thursday to open discussions on the deployment of a next-generation broadcast-TV standard that should offer picture quality up to 4K Ultra High Definition and better antenna reception than today’s over-the-air digital signals. Like 2009’s transition to digital TV signals, this upgrade’s primary sales pitch is about a better picture — not just high definition, but the Ultra High Definition (UHD) 4K resolution that today remains largely confined to streaming-video services and Blu-ray discs.

Oprah And Steven Spielberg Gave John Travolta The Go-Ahead For ‘American Crime Story’

Before John Travolta transformed into Robert Shapiro for “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson,” he had to get the go-ahead from his trusted group of Hollywood heavyweights.

In a new interview with GQ, the actor revealed that he contemplated taking the role in the FX series for months. It wasn’t until “four of the top people” gave their blessings that he decided he should go for it.

But who, exactly, were those four people?

“It was Spielberg. It was Oprah. It was Rita Hanks and Tom Hanks. And it was [former Disney CEO] Michael Eisner,” Travolta said. (Note: This obviously amounts to five people, but perhaps the actor sees the Hankses as one entity.)

Talk about a power squad.

The actor added: “They all thought it was completely the right move.” And they were right ― the role garnered Travolta an Emmy nomination and the series became a critical success

Maybe Travolta should consult with those “top people” for every life decision from now on.

Iggy Azalea Thanks the Man Who Gave Her a ‘Fabulous Nose and Breasts’ on His Birthday

Iggy Azalea gained more than body confidence when she had plastic surgery done — she made a new friend.

On Saturday, the 26-year-old performer shared a snap of her and Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Ashkan Ghavami to wish him a happy birthday and thank him for helping women achieve the body of their dreams.

“It might seem obvious I’d hold the man I owe my fabulous nose and breasts to in high regard,” she captioned the photo. “But vanity aside; Ash you’re hilarious as hell, talented, eclectic, a progressive thinker & someone who supports women in their choice to do what they want with their OWN bodies (tons of men don’t share that sentiment).”

Azalea concluded, “So cheers to you! I’m proud to call you my friend.”

Ghavami was touched by the message and returned the sentiments by posting Azalea’s photo on his own Instagram account.

“Thank you a mill for everything! Your bold confidence is to be mad respected! My BDay is complete,” he wrote. “Those like you who stand apart and trailblaze their own path no matter who tries to block or impede it, ALWAYS come out ahead , most importantly for themselves..”

Azalea has been candid about her decisions to go under the knife as well as her appreciation for her doctor. Although she denied rumors of having butt implants, she has openly spoken about having work done on her nose and breasts on multiple occasions.

“I didn’t ,” the “Fancy” rapper said on an April visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “There was nothing wrong with me. I think it’s a personal choice and anybody, man or woman, they should be able to make an informed decision, and if you want to change something, then that’s up to you.”

“I didn’t have boobs. Before, I just had nipples, and now I have breasts,” she explained.

Azalea confesses her new nose isn’t a major change, despite all the negative talk about it.

“Yeah, I don’t know if it was worth the backlash,” Azalea said of the comments she received on social media. “I should have changed it more so it was worth it!”

My Mentor Never Gave His Last Lecture

To millions of beloved readers, Jeff Zaslow was the advice columnist who replaced Ann Landers and the bestselling author who captured our hearts with moving books like The Last Lecture with Randy Pausch. But to me and countless other writers, Jeff was a devoted mentor who gave countless hours of his time and energy to help aspiring authors.

When I was in middle school, Jeff and his family moved in across the street from our house in Michigan. At a neighborhood barbecue, I was a shy, nerdy kid shooting baskets alone. Jeff walked over, introduced himself, and challenged me to a game of HORSE. He took a genuine interest in getting to know me, asking about my hobbies and crushes. Although we had just met, I had the uncanny sense that this new neighbor truly cared about me. Suspiciously, he lost that game of HORSE very, very badly.

Looking back, Jeff was the first adult who treated me like a peer, and it helped me come out of my shell. At the time, I had no idea that Jeff would become a mentor to me–or that I would enter the writing profession.

Two decades later, I decided to write my first book. In search of guidance on developing a proposal, I reached out to Jeff. Less than three hours later, his reply landed in my inbox. He invited me to call his cellphone any time, day or night. He asked me thoughtful questions and listened to my responses. I explained that I was interested in writing about why people help others. “You haven’t found the forest in the trees yet,” he confided, “but I think there’s potential for a book here.” He suggested trying to articulate my message in a single sentence. “What’s the big, surprising idea?”

Three days later, the answer hit me. The book was going to be about the surprising success of people like Jeff, who consistently helped others without expecting anything in return. Instead of achieving success and then giving back, is it possible that you could attain success by giving first? To paraphrase Thomas Jefferson, if you use your candle to light mine, I get light without darkening you.

Months later, when I was preparing to meet with publishers, my heart was racing. Jeff kindly reviewed my pitch and boosted my confidence with a quip: “The little schnitzel across the street is going to be famous!”

Two weeks later, Jeff launched his latest book, The Magic Room. Despite being scheduled around the clock, he sent me a note to check in on how the meetings with publishers went. Just like the first time I met him, I was overwhelmed by the fact that he cared. He helped me choose the right publisher and added, “Here’s hoping you’re the next Malcolm Gladwell.”

When I started writing, I relied on Jeff’s work as a model for creating narratives that speak to readers’ hearts along with opening their minds, and his personal example as a reminder of what it meant to put other people first. There was the time in 1983 when he gave the croissant out of his mouth to a homeless person. There was the Zazz Bash, an annual singles party that he created for charity–and led to 78 marriages. In his books, he was always shining a spotlight on others. And there was the time when he ran into my dad at a local store. Jeff had just released a new book and had a stack of them sitting at home in our neighborhood. But Jeff marched up to the register and paid for a copy of his own book, autographing it so my dad didn’t have to wait for a signed edition.

Despite the fact that he gave advice for a living, Jeff never assumed that he knew the right course of action for anyone else. This humility was visible early in his career. In his late twenties, while writing a story for the Wall Street Journal about the contest to replace Ann Landers, he decided to enter it on a lark. When an interviewer told him he was underqualified, he replied: “I may be 28, but I have the wisdom of a 29-year-old.”

When students ask me how they can pay their mentors back, I challenge them to think about it differently. Mentoring is a gift, and their job is to receive it with gratitude. How can they show their mentors that they’ve made a difference?

In 2012, before I finished writing my book, Jeff lost his life in a tragic car accident. I missed the opportunity to tell him what an impact he had on me–not only as a writer, but as a role model for how to live a good life.

Jeff Zaslow never got the chance to give his own last lecture. I don’t know what he would have said, but I know how he would have made you feel. He would have dazzled you with humor, enlightened you with insight, and inspired you to pursue and savor the most meaningful moments in life.

I dedicated my book to him, but it seems that the most powerful way to honor Jeff’s memory is to share the wisdom that he imparted through his actions. He taught me four timeless lessons about mentoring:

1. Great mentors don’t give answers. They ask questions.

2. Great mentors are proactive, not reactive. They don’t just respond to outreach; they reach out to their mentees.

3. Great mentors see more potential in their mentees than their mentees see in themselves.

4. Great mentors focus on their mentees’ success, not on their own.

Since we lost Jeff, people have come out of the woodwork to share how much his generosity meant to them. Perhaps the most stirring was Brad Epstein, a healthcare executive. Seven years ago I worked on a project with Brad, not realizing that he knew Jeff. It turns out they were roommates in Orlando in their twenties.

“I miss the light he added to the world,” Brad wrote. “But I can see the glow from countless candles he lit.”

Thank your mentor before it’s too late. And then light as many candles as you can.

Kanye West Gave The Most Kanye West Graduation Speech Ever To Fashion Students

Here’s a message to all the celebs currently giving graduation speeches: he’s gonna let you finish, but Kanye West just gave one of the best graduation speeches of all time. Well, he gave the most Kanye West graduation speech, anyway.

West made an appearance at the Los Angeles Trade-Technical College’s Gold Thimble Fashion Show on Friday and reportedly addressed the graduating class, saying, “Usually, when you’re the absolute best, you get hated on the most.” Preach, Kanye!

After an issue with the paparazzi in 2013, West was sentenced to some community service and fulfilled his hours by teaching at the school in 2014. Though all his hours are up, he still decided to make the trip for the show, giving a speech and even smiling.

Yeah, we saw that, Mr. West.

A Bunch Seahawk Fans Gave Up On Their Team And Then Got What They Deserved

It looked pretty bleak for the Seattle Seahawks with around four minutes to go in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. The team was down 19-7 to the Green Bay Packers, and the team’s quarterback, Russell Wilson, was playing terribly.

So a bunch of Seahawk fans decided all hope was lost and left early, despite paying who knows what for the privilege of watching a bunch of men run around for a couple hours. Unluckily for the fans, the Seahawks ripped off an improbable comeback and they were stuck on the outside looking in, and not in a metaphorical way:

And you thought only Miami Heat fans knew how to give up on their team at the most important moment of the season?
