Maria Menounos Shares Wedding Photo & Honors Her Parents in Emotional Post: ‘I Feel So Blessed’

Maria Menounos is feeling major gratitude toward her parents following her glamorous wedding in Akovos, Greece.

The TV personality, who remarried Keven Undergaro on Saturday after initially saying “I do” in an impromptu New Year’s Eve ceremony last year, paid tribute to her parents Constantine and Litsa on Instagram.

On Tuesday, Menounos, 40, posted a sentimental black-and-white snapshot with her dad at the wedding. In the picture, the father-daughter duo have their arms wrapped around one another as Menounos shows off her billowing Celia Kritharioti gown.

“Love my dad so much,” she captioned the post. “This was a dream for him. He was born and raised in Akovos. Though he’s the proudest American you will find, he is also equally proud of his roots.”

“Growing up we saved all the spare change we found on the nightclub floors we cleaned in Boston to save up and visit Greece,” Menounos continued. “It meant so much to him for us to be connected to our heritage, to know the language and the traditions. Both my parents wanted that. It took years but finally we visited in 1988 when I was 10. I loved it. We spent almost a month in Akovos and it always held a special place in my heart. Returning to get married there was my wildest dream come true. All of our friends and family helped make it truly the most special moment of all our lives.”

Menounos also revealed that her father had health problems right before the wedding: “My poor dad got so sick a week before the wedding and we almost lost him. Luckily my friends and family helped him get better all while keeping me in the dark. This is why I feel so blessed.”

With her wedding hashtag #mariaandkevensbigfatgreekwedding, she concluded, “To have my parents at my wedding I know wasn’t easy between dad’s diabetes and mom’s cancer. I know many who weren’t as lucky and I will never take that for granted.”

Menounos has shared all the details of her gorgeous nuptials on Instagram, which included a multi-layer cake, cheerful lemon centerpieces, yellow plants, yellow-hued drinks and pastries and almost 1,500 decorative lemons.

She also gave her fans peeks at her impressive arrival at the church — she rode in on a carriage surrounded by a swarm of people — and the celebration that followed the vows.

Before the wedding, she took a moment to reflect.

“I’ve been planning this for maybe a month but really been planning this for a long time in my heart because I always wanted to return to Greece and do our wedding here,” she said on Instagram. “Greece means so much to us and our village and our roots and I’m so beyond thankful to all of our friends who put this together.”

LOCAL COLOR: It’s that time of year again, when Queen Elizabeth doles out her birthday honors and the royals and British military celebrate the monarch’s official birthday with the Trooping the Colour parade.
Although the queen’s 92nd birthday fell on April 21, the official celebration always takes place in June, a tradition that dates to 1748. A great display of British military might, the event involves the guards of the Household Division and Horse Guards in the British Army.
The new Duke and Duchess of Sussex took part for the first time, with Meghan Markle wearing an off-the shoulder rose-colored dress by Carolina Herrera and a Phillip Treacy hat. She also made her first appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, waving to the public as a fully-fledged member of Britain’s royal family.

Diva Devotee Seth Sikes Honors Pride With A Celebratory New Show

Few performers are as perfectly suited for Pride weekend as Seth Sikes.

The 33-year-old cabaret star has been thrilling audiences with his tribute concerts to Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli for nearly three years. On June 24, however, he’ll go all out with a no-holds-barred show at New York’s Feinstein’s/54 Below featuring songs made famous by the aforementioned divas, as well as Bernadette Peters and Barbra Streisand. (Catch a sneak peek of Sikes performing a tune from the musical “Gypsy” above.)

“Usually my goal is to keep the songbook alive and celebrate the ladies,” Sikes told HuffPost. “But this time, the goal is to get people in a happy, happy mood to go out dancing afterward… what celebrates Pride more than a bunch of diva songs?”

What began as a “one-night-only stunt” in 2014 has taken Sikes across the country, and even internationally, since then. Most recently, he celebrated what would have been Garland’s 95th birthday with a performance in London ― a particularly fitting tribute, as the “Wizard of Oz” star capped off her unparalleled career with a string of shows in England’s capital.

Of course, Sikes is aware that his Pride weekend show comes at a time when many LGBTQ people are still reeling from the election of President Donald Trump, who ran on an explicitly anti-queer platform. The performer, who has not shied away from politics on social media, won’t mention Trump during his performance, but rather “have some fun” while reminding people that the LGBTQ community is “mighty and not going away.”

“I talked a little bit about Trump in my last show,” he said. “But frankly, at this point, I’m so sick of hearing about him and talking about him, I probably won’t bring it up at all this time. Let’s forget the asshole for a moment!”

For now, Sikes couldn’t be happier to be honoring Pride with a brand-new show. “I think Pride is about family and community and a celebration of our unique culture. We have a lot of that to celebrate right now ― including our lady icons ― and we have a lot to be grateful for, including marriage equality,” he said. “But we can’t take any of it for granted.”

Seth Sikes performs at New York’s Feinstein’s/54 Below June 24. Next up, he’ll visit the Crown & Anchor in Provincetown, Massachusetts on July 8 and Aug. 7.

Pitti Immagine Exhibition Honors Kiton Founder Ciro Paone

FLORENCE, Italy — The fashion crowd flocked to the Palazzo Gerini here on Tuesday night for the opening of an intimate and playful exhibition organized by Pitti Immagine in honor of the life and career of Kiton founder Ciro Paone.
Curator Angelo Flaccavento said he set out to create a portrait of the values that Paone stands for. “Ciro is the patron saint of Neapolitan tailoring in the sense that he gathered all of the tailors in the Naples area and created this whole myth; it was an art in danger of disappearing completely,” he said during a preview of the exhibit, titled “Two or Three Things I Know About Ciro.”
“Neapolitan tailoring is a very specific kind of tailoring; when it comes to the different schools of thought, there is Savile Row, which is all about redesigning the body through tailoring because it’s very structured, whereas for Neapolitan tailoring the suits are as soft as a shirt and featherweight. They mold to your body.”
Paone, a fifth generation member of a family of Italian fabric merchants who co-founded Kiton in 1956, is also the recipient of this year’s Pitti Immagine Career Award. The Italian entrepreneur has been ill for some time, with his

Anna Wintour, Anya Hindmarch, Victoria Beckham Recognized in Queen’s New Year Honor’s List

ROYAL RECOGNITION: Queen Elizabeth II has released her annual New Year honor’s list, with names including Anna Wintour, Anya Hindmarch and Victoria Beckham set to receive accolades in the coming year.
Wintour, the British-born, U.S.-based editor of Vogue and Condé Nast artistic director will be named Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire or DBE, for her services in the fashion and journalism industries. She joins women including Vivienne Westwood, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Zandra Rhodes and Natalie Massenet.
The DBE will be Wintour’s second honor, as she was named OBE, or Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, in 2008. The Queen’s cabinet office noted that this second, higher accolade recognizes Wintour’s ongoing contribution to the fashion industry, and her help for emerging designers.
“Anna Wintour has been a tireless advocate for established and emerging designers. In the U.K. alone, she has promoted the careers of such talents as Sarah Burton, John Galliano, Christopher Bailey, Erdem Moralioglu and Christopher Kane,” said a spokesman for the Cabinet Office, the corporate headquarters of the British government.
Hindmarch is being recognized for her services to fashion and will be named Commander of the Order of the British Empire, or CBE. Hindmarch also

Victoria Beckham to Be Named in the Queen’s Honors List

ROYAL ACCOLADE: Although Queen Elizabeth’s annual New Year’s honors list is yet to be released, it appears one person is already planning her visit to Buckingham Palace.
According to the Daily Mail, Victoria Beckham will be named an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, or OBE, in the Queen’s New Year’s honors list, which is set to be released on Saturday.
According to the British tabloid, the British designer revealed the news to her family over the Christmas holiday, saying that she is “delighted and humbled for the recognition.” The honor recognizes Beckham’s contributions to the British economy and to charity.
The designer’s husband, David Beckham was handed an OBE 13 years ago for his services to British sport.
A spokesperson for Beckham did not return requests for comment.

The honor would be the culmination of a successful year for Beckham, who launched her first makeup collection in partnership with Estée Lauder last September and watched it fly off the shelves.
As reported last month, she is set to release a second cosmetics capsule collection with Lauder in the new year, as well as a skincare line with a niche beauty partner.

Kate Moss Honors Elvis Presley in One-Off Music Video

KATE MOSS CHANNELS ELVIS: Kate Moss will appear — singing “The Wonder of You” — in an Elvis-themed video that’s set to be released in the U.K. on Friday.
The black-and-white video sees Moss singing along to Presley’s song performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She’s dressed in a series of outfits inspired by Presley’s style signatures, from leather suits to embellished shirts.
The video begins with a close-up on a black leather jumpsuit, a custom-made piece created for Moss to reference the leather suit Presley made famous in his 1968 Comeback Special.
The supermodel, clad in the leather jumpsuit, is seen singing at London’s famous Abbey Road Studios, where “The Wonder of You” was originally recorded. She then goes on to lounge on vintage sofas, and a piano, dressed in an embroidered shirt and fishnet tights. She’s also filmed wearing more high-glamour looks, such as a crystal-embellished white gown and a sequinned top with matching leather shorts.

A Tribe Called Red Honors First Nations Culture With ‘Powwow Step’

Mix the beats you usually associate with dancehall or dubstep with a pulsing combination of spoken word and traditional tribal sounds and you have the essential formula for what could be considered a subgenre of EDM ― now being referred to as “powwow step.”

The primary purveyors of powwow step are the members of an indigenous DJ trio called A Tribe Called Red. Formed in 2008 in Ottawa, Canada, the group consists of Bear Witness, 2oolman and DJ NDN. Together, their complex musical identity rests on positivity ― “A Tribe Called Red promotes inclusivity, empathy and acceptance amongst all races and genders in the name of social justice,” the group writes online.

Speaking directly to indigenous communities “living in a country that was forcefully colonized,” ATCR believes that indigenous people must define their identity on their own terms. Their third album, “We Are the Halluci Nation,” echoes the sentiment in a time when protests in North Dakota are bringing the concerns of the Standing Rock Sioux reservation to the forefront of national news. “This album is critical listening for everyone,” Pitchfork declared earlier this year, praising the trio’s “iconoclastic” politics.

This week, ATCR is premiering the video for a single off the record, titled “The Virus.” Described as “a defiant celebration of indigenous and oppressed cultures,” the song features activist/poet/rapper Saul Williams and the First Nations drum group Chippewa Travellers

“We are the Halluci Nation,” a disembodied voice bellows over a rumbling drum swarm in the video above, reciting the words of Santee Dakota poet John Trudell. “We are the evolution. A continuation. We are the Halluci Nation. Our DNA is of earth and sky. Our DNA is of past and future.”

To accompany the premiere of “The Virus,” poet Williams sent The Huffington Post the following statement:

When the first question arose it took the form of a virus. The virus was a hallucinogen. Walking on water wasn’t built in a day. If plagiarism is a thing what do you call it on land? What does it mean to be true to your word? What does it mean to stand your ground? What does it mean to protect and serve? What does it mean when corporate interests encroach upon communal resources? What does it mean when we let the oligarchs of industry dig up the graves of First Nations to suck the blood beneath the bones and boil the profits in contaminated water?

We are the seventh generation. We are the protectors of this land, the protectors of water. We are not a conquered people. We will issue no warning. It will come thinly veiled or not veiled at all. The drum will beat. And you will hear it. There is no question.

Natalie Douglas Honors Judy Garland And Homeless LGBT Youth With A Performance Of ‘Stormy Weather’

Judy Garland became the consummate star of Hollywood’s golden age thanks to turns in “The Wizard of Oz” and “Meet Me in St. Louis.” Nearly 46 years after her death, she remains a icon of tenacity whose talent was offset by personal struggles that gave her performances a heartbreaking authenticity.

At 2014’s “Night of a Thousand Judys,” New York cabaret star Natalie Douglas paid appropriate tribute to the legend with a stirring rendition of “Stormy Weather.”

In this exclusive clip above, Douglas tackles the Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler classic, which Garland first performed at her storied Carnegie Hall concert in 1961.

Now in its fifth year, “Night of a Thousand Judys” — which is a special presentation of New York- and Los Angeles-based actor, writer and performer Justin Sayre’s variety show, “The Meeting,” and timed to coincide with Pride Month — will benefit the Ali Forney Center, a New York advocacy group dedicated to homeless lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) teens and young adults.

As in previous installments, performers from Broadway, television and downtown cabaret will hit New York’s Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center June 1 to croon songs made famous by Garland during her fabled career. The 2015 lineup includes Melissa Errico, Liz Callaway, Michael McElroy, Lauren Worsham and The Skivvies, among others.

Sayre interviewed Ali Forney Center founder Carl Siciliano for his “Sparkle & Circulate with Justin Sayre” podcast. You can check that out here.

Meanwhile, you can also view some previous performances from “The Meeting” on Sayre’s official YouTube page. For more Sayre, head to Facebook and Twitter, too.

“Night of a Thousand Judys” plays New York’s Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center on June 1. Head here for more details.

Accessories Council Honors FIT Accessory, Jewelry Programs

Class council: On Monday evening, members of the Accessories Council gathered to honor the Fashion Institute of Technology’s accessory and jewelry programs with a Hall of Fame Award. On hand to accept the distinction was FIT president Dr. Joyce Brown, who said that the evening was “a very important honor for the college.”
“The accessories program and our jewelry program have made great strides in recent years,” she said. “We have extremely talented students and the support of the Accessories Council is a real badge of recognition and support.
“It’s very important that the student’s work is recognized; They work very, very hard and they are very talented. It’s very hard to get in to any of the programs, so if we are able to give them scholarships and support to help them get placed in the industry I think it’s a win for everyone.”
Brown also noted that the two programs have recently revamped their curriculums and that the school is currently in the process of building out new laboratory and design facilities for its majors with the Accessories Council’s help.

CFDA Honors Rachel Zoe

CFDA HONORS RACHEL ZOE: The Council of Fashion Designers of America, Refinery29 and Neiman Marcus launched their Spotlight series in Los Angeles Wednesday night honoring Rachel Zoe. CFDA chief executive officer Steven Kolb, Refinery29 editor in chief Christene Barberich and Neiman’s fashion director Ken Downing hosted the dinner at Terrine that drew designers Greg Chait, Jennifer Meyer, Claire Vivier, Emily Current and Merritt Elliott, Rosetta Getty, Gela Nash-Taylor and Pamela Skaist-Levy and Louis Leeman along with actresses Grace Gummer, Sara Foster and Rebecca Gayheart. “This series puts a spotlight on successful women who entered the business with non-traditional backgrounds. The message that you can succeed regardless of your training is a positive one that we hope will resonate with the Refinery audience,” said Kolb, noting the new partnership with the media company, which he hopes will garner a younger audience for the CFDA. The next Spotlight series will take place in New York in June honoring Tabitha Simmons. Kolb was also busy checking out the Los Angeles manufacturing scene, with visits to BCBG, Simon Miller, Nasty Gal and Reformation. “We’re looking at ways to do an event here that contributes industry knowledge and rallies support from the city,” he said.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have made it clear they love to dress alike, whether they’re on the streets of Brooklyn in the same casual attire or front row at a fashion show in matching cleavage-baring ensembles. The couple took its matchy-matchy tendencies to the 2015 BET Honors on Saturday, where the two wore all-black Balmain outfits. Kardashian opted for a demure gown with small cut-outs, while West wore a tailored suit. And of course, they each had unamused facial expressions:

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Golden Globe Awards are put on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association — a group of journalists who cover movies for international publications — so it’s fitting to pay special tribute to international filmmakers.

The HFPA did that Saturday at its 11th annual Foreign Language Film Symposium, which drew the directors of four of the five foreign-language films nominated at Sunday’s Golden Globes. Abdellatif Kechiche of France (“Blue is the Warmest Color”), Thomas Vinterberg of Denmark (“The Hunt”), Paolo Sorrentino of Italy (“The Great Beauty”) and Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi of Iran (“The Past”) discussed their work with each other and an audience of fans at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre.

Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki, whose film “The Wind Rises” is also up for a Globe, wasn’t able to attend.

Apart from Vinterberg, who also works in English, each director was accompanied by an interpreter. All said that despite working in disparate languages, film transcends any such obstacles.

“Film is beyond all spoken language,” Vinterberg said. “The more local I get in my writing, the farther my film reaches.”

His nominated film, “The Hunt,” stars Mads Mikkelsen as a lonely teacher whose life is upended by an innocent lie.

“Blue is the Warmest Color” is a coming-of-age love story. “The Great Beauty” explores the indulgence of lavish nightlife. “The Past” deals with family relationships. “The Wind Rises” is about a dreamer who designed fighter planes in World War II.

Trailers for all five films up for the Golden Globe for best foreign-language film were shown at the symposium, where filmmakers also took questions from fans. The winner will be announced Sunday at the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards.
