Tori Spelling Settles Her Personal Injury Lawsuit Against Benihana: Reports

Tori Spelling has put the kibosh on her legal beef with Benihana after sustaining a burn at the popular hibachi restaurant.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 44, reached a settlement in her personal injury lawsuit against the chain, according to court documents obtained by E! News.

The details of the settlement including a monetary amount, if there was one, was not made public.

PEOPLE confirmed in April 2015 that Spelling tripped and fell backward onto a hot grill and ended up needing skin grafts on her right arm. “It was an unfortunate accident. She had a little burn,” husband Dean McDermott said at the time.

Spelling first took legal action against Benihana in September 2015, when she filed court documents claiming she suffered wage loss, hospital and medicine expenses, general damage and loss of earning capacity after falling on a grill on Easter 2014.

The lawsuit stated that the actress “sustained deep second and third-degree burn injuries requiring hospitalization and surgery,” according to court papers obtained by PEOPLE.

“Tori hadn’t even started to eat, when she slipped and fell,” a source previously told PEOPLE in April 2015. “Not thinking, she grabbed onto the side of the hot grill and burned her arm. At the time, it didn’t seem as bad as the doctors told her it was the next day.”

Meanwhile, on Friday, Spelling celebrated her settlement with her family as she documented her youngest child, 6-month-old son Beau Dean drinking water out of a cup.

“#BabyBeau 1st sip of water from a cup… #cuteness,” the mother of five captioned a video of Beau Dean grabbing the plastic container from his dad Dean’s hands.

The 42-year-old shared an Instagram photo on Monday, showing himself looking bruised in a hospital bed with his right leg wrapped in bandages.

“I’m going to be ok & i appreciate your concern –🖤me,” he wrote alongside the photo.

It is unclear what caused the injury, but Phillippe did his best to assure fans that he is all right, giving a thumbs-up in the photo.

He opened up about the hospital visit a bit more in posts to his Insta Story, sharing a shot of his damaged leg as he enjoyed a bowl of Jello.

“Not lit,” he wrote on the picture. He soon shared a photo of himself with his head in his right hand, writing, “not where/how i wanna be.”

As fans flooded the star’s Instagram with well wishes, Phillippe took to Twitter with a cryptic post.

“This sucks,” he tweeted.

The injury comes at a busy time for the actor. His new horror flick, Wish Upon, hit theaters last week and season 2 of USA‘s Shooter is set to premiere on Tuesday.

Josh Duggar Has The Audacity To Claim Molestation Reports Caused ‘Emotional Injury’

The Duggar sisters’ breach-of-privacy suit has taken an even stranger turn now that Josh Duggar ― who admitted to molesting some of his sisters as a teen ― is seeking to join those same siblings in legal action over his molestation scandal.

Last month, Jill, Jessa, Jinger and Joy Duggar filed a federal lawsuit seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages against In Touch magazine and Arkansas law enforcement over police documents released to the tabloid through a Freedom of Information Act request in 2015.

On Friday, Josh filed a motion asking to join the case, claiming that he has “suffered severe emotional distress, embarrassment, humiliation and economic harm both to his personal and professional reputations” as result of In Touch’s bombshell report that alleged he molested underage girls.

In their original lawsuit, the four Duggar sisters claim they were “revictimized” by the release of the documents that contained “cosmetic redactions,” which allowed them to be identified as their brother’s victims.

Their lawsuit hinges on the assertion that, according to Arkansas law, information collected involving minors is not subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act. The sisters claim that when they spoke to investigators as minors in 2006, they were told their statements would not be made public. Josh makes the same claims in his motion to intervene and cites the same law.

The City of Springdale, which the sisters are also suing, previously dismissed the allegations in the lawsuit as “without merit” and “false” in a statement to the press. In Touch has yet to respond to the lawsuit, but it’s important to recognize that Josh’s name was, in fact, redacted from the police report ― as required by law. In Touch even noted in the story

“(Note: Josh’s name is redacted from the police report but In Touch has confirmed the passages that refer to him.)”

Similarly, the police report appears to comply with state law by redacting the names of Josh’s victims. In Touch did not identify the victims by name in its reports, and it was Jessa and Jill who identified themselves as two of Josh’s five underage victims when they participated in an interview with Megyn Kelly on “The Kelly File.” With the filing of their lawsuit, Jinger and Joy confirmed they were victims, as well. The identity of the fifth victim remains unknown.

The sisters claim that by not redacting their parents’ names, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, In Touch clearly identified the sisters as victims. However, the Duggar parents’ names did not need to be redacted as they were not minors.

In his motion to join the suit, Josh also states that while his sisters have been “forced to confront traumatic experiences” and had the “most private and painful aspects of their lived [sic] exposed,” they received “sympathy worldwide.”

But, Josh goes on to say that there’s just no sympathy for him ― who’s youngest victim was just 5 years old:

Not so with Movant, however, for which the confidential, highly sensitive, intensely personal and humiliating nature of the information contained in the released reports has subjected him to exposure only in an intensely negative light for actions he engaged in as an indiscrete youth and that will continue to haunt him and cause him financial and emotional injury for the rest of his life.

The fall out from In Touch’s May 2015 report was swift. Josh admitted to molesting underage girls ― who were later confirmed to be his sisters. He subsequently resigned from his job as executive director of Tony Perkins’ conservative and anti-gay group, Family Research Council Action, and TLC canceled “19 Kids and Counting.” (Josh was back in the headlines over a cheating scandal involving an Ashley Madison account and claims of sex addiction later on.)

The idea that an admitted child molester could complain about lack of sympathy is inherently ridiculous and a closer look at Josh’s motion reveals his claims to be completely contradictory.

In one breath, without actually mentioning the assaults, he refers to his abuse of his sisters as “traumatic experiences” and the “most private and painful aspects” of their lives. He then turns around and attempts to brush off repeated acts of sexual abuse as “actions he engaged in as an indiscrete youth.” In fact, the words “molestation” and “sexual assault” do not appear in Josh’s motion at all. There is not even a hint of personal responsibility for his actions in the entire motion.

Meanwhile, his sisters Jessa and Jill previously said they had “forgiven” Josh, but the language in their lawsuit says otherwise. In the suit, the sisters state they were “sexually assaulted on several occasions by [their] brother, Josh Duggar.” The words “sexual abuse” and “sexual assault” and “molestation” are free flowing throughout the suit. It’s a far cry from how they previously characterized the incidents as “mild, inappropriate touching” when they were interviewed by Kelly.

Via the police report: [Jim Bob Duggar] said that [Josh] had told him that [he] had been touching [redacted] on the breast and vaginal areas while [they] were sleeping.” Later in the report [Jim Bob] said there was another incident in March 2003. [Jim Bob] said that [Josh] was reading to [redacted] and [she] was sitting on [his] lap, [Josh] had touched [redacted’s] breasts and vaginal area…sometime during this timeframe [Josh] had been standing in the laundry room and [Josh] had put [his] hand under [redacted’s] dress.”

Josh is not represented by the same attorneys as his four sisters and it is unclear how they feel about him seeking to join the suit. HuffPost has reached out to lawyers for the Duggar sisters and will update this post accordingly.

Healing Pain and Injury

Healing Pain and Injury

Renowned osteopathic physician Dr. Maud Nerman demonstrates how a wide range of symptoms-including unexplained headaches, anxiety, back or neck pain, weight gain, low sex drive, constant fatigue, asthma, chronic pain, or memory loss-can stem from the body’s inability to recover after an injury or trauma. Healing Pain and Injury identifies three key steps to regaining health after injury or trauma: Removing injury shock Restoring motion Controlling inflammation Based on over 30 years of successful treatment of patients with seemingly intractable conditions, Dr. Nerman’s innovative approach enables readers to harness their body’s remarkable healing ability in order to reclaim their health and their lives. When injury or illness befalls you, your body is your greatest ally, constantly fighting to restore balance and health to every part of you. But sometimes it needs the right kind of help. In Healing Pain and Injury, osteopathic physician Dr. Maud Nerman provides a revolutionary approach to understanding and treating pain and injury. Rejecting the view that the patient is a collection of symptoms to be dissected, she illustrates how problems in one area or system of the body can reverberate in a distant system or structure. Dr. Nerman weaves together personal stories from patients, three decades of experience, the healing tradition of osteopathic medicine, and recent scientific discoveries to explain why the body’s interconnectedness is often the key to recovery and how you can understand the clues it provides. The way in which we heal from injury is also critical. The body heroically attempts to recover, but if the healing process is delayed, interrupted, or incomplete, chronic illness can result. Dr. Nerman shares insight into the processes that create chronic illness-how they develop, what makes them persist, and what you can do to reverse them, even months or years later. She explains in detail how the body works to heal itself and offers a multitude of ways that

If Your Kid Eats This Book, Everything Will Still Be Okay: How to Know If Your Child’s Injury or Illness Is Really an Emergency

If Your Kid Eats This Book, Everything Will Still Be Okay: How to Know If Your Child’s Injury or Illness Is Really an Emergency

As an Emergency Room pediatrician, Dr. Lara Zibners has seen it all. She’s cared for a portion of the 25 million children in the U.S. who are taken to the ER each year-and she knows that more than 50% of these visits may be unnecessary. IF YOUR KID EATS THIS BOOK, EVERYTHING WILL STILL BE OKAY shows parents when they may need to take action, and when they might be able to just go back to bed and call their doctor in the morning. With sections such as "In the Diaper" and "His Noggin and the Nervous System," Dr. Zibners covers every part of the body and offers sound advice (for example, did you know that oil is the best remedy for dissolving superglue between body parts?), all while maintaining a lively and often hilarious tone. To the question, "What if she chokes on her vomit?" Zibners answers, "A healthy child will not choke on her own vomit, unless she is drunk or high on Grandma’s sleeping pills." Finally, no more frantic late-night searches through the "why to buy,""how to diaper," or "what to feed him" sections found in other childcare books to find out if little Franny needs to go to the ER. This book focuses on the truly important questions, like how to keep her from electrocuting herself in the first place. Not every child has a pediatrician with specialized emergency room experience living in her home. But this book just might be the next best thing. Lara Zibners, MD, is a former Assistant Professor of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Mount SinaiHospital in New York City. Currently, she divides her professional time between New York and London.
