Kenneth Ning Produces Film, Look Book Instead of Show

Add Kenneth Ning to the list of designers who have eschewed runway shows this season.
The New York-based designer, who launched his collection in 2015, has partnered with multimedia artist Patrick Welde and art director Anthony Stephinson to showcase his fall collection.
Ning handed over his completed line to the two men, and they returned “The Twisted System,” a look book and short film that was shot over several days in Paris.
“It was time for me to take a new presentation direction with my collection,” said Ning. “The influencer has grown to huge importance with retailers and consumers. Patrick has a great eye and the past client experience I am looking for in shaping my brand to a more international retailer and consumer.”
Ning’s fall collection blends streetwear and tailoring with pieces that provide what he described as “a twisted dream state,” consisting of  unusual proportions and fabrics that range from flannel tartans to plaids.
Welde is part of the growing Parisian avant-garde scene and has worked with brands and publications including Balenciaga and Antidote Magazine.

NFL Player And Wife Skip Wedding Gifts And Raise Money For Rescue Animals Instead

NFL player and dog lover Logan Ryan used his wedding as an opportunity to say “I do” to a cause he and his wife are passionate about ― animal rescue.

When the Tennessee Titans cornerback tied the knot with Ashley Bragg on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia in April, they asked their guests to donate to Help Animal Welfare in St. Lucia (HelpAWS) ― a foster-based organization dedicated to rescuing, spaying and neutering stray dogs and cats and finding them forever homes ― in lieu of giving wedding gifts.

Dog rescue is with us wherever we go,” Ryan told The Dodo. “It’s just something we’re passionate about and want to make a difference in any way we can.”

Leading up to the big day, guests had been asking the couple what they wanted for a wedding present. At first, Ryan and Bragg just told them to donate to their local animal shelters. But once they heard about HelpAWS, they directed their family and friends to donate there instead.

The idea came to them the day after their intimate nuptials when the bride and groom put on their wedding clothes once again to take some photos around the town of Soufrière. That’s where they ran into a friendly stray pup, who instantly took a liking to the couple.

Charlene Penney, founder of HelpAWS, told HuffPost that the chance encounter with the pup (pictured above) is what connected the newlywed couple with her organization.

“While visiting the town, they saw how many stray dogs were wandering the streets,” she said. “After their photo shoot, they left wondering what is being done on the island to help stray animals and what they could do to help. So they asked their photographer about local rescue groups and that’s how they found us.”

Penney said they were able to find the dog from the photo shoot and rescued her shortly after the newlyweds had left the island. They named the dog “Logan” in the groom’s honor. Though Logan has some health issues, including tick-borne disease ehrlichiosis, Penney told HuffPost she is confident the dog will be ready for adoption soon.

“With the money [the Ryans] raised we were able to cover most of her medical expenses and we were also able to spay and neuter 11 cats we have in our care,” Penney added.

In 2015, Ryan and Bragg launched a social media initiative called Ryan’s Monthly Rescue with the goal of helping dogs, especially pit bulls, get adopted. The pair are parents to a baby girl named Avery, who attended the wedding, and two dogs, Nala and Leo, who were unable to be there.

“Our love of dogs may have been the only thing missing from our big day,” the bride told The Dodo. “The fact that we connected with HelpAWS and helped this one particular dog made the entire experience even more unforgettable.”

A post shared by Logan Ryan (@realloganryan) on

Penney said she is grateful to the couple for bringing both money and awareness to her organization.

“We have developed a close relationship with the Ryans. Ashley is even coming back to St. Lucia in the fall to help volunteer at our next spay and neuter clinic,” she told HuffPost. “We can’t wait!”

For more information on adopting a pet through HelpAWS, check out their website or Facebook page. If you’re interested in donating to the cause, you can do that here.

Rihanna Wore A Fur Coat Instead Of A Shirt, Because Of Course

There are some things only Rihanna can pull off. Things like head-to-toe lime green fringe, appropriately over-the-top Met Gala garb, and, as proven on Thursday, fur coats as shirts.

Our queen attended the Dior cruise collection show in Calabasas, California, wearing a belted fur coat with jeans, boots, a hat and nothing underneath.

Rih posed for photographers alongside Jaime King and Kelly Rowland, both of whom were both dressed in slightly less surprising garb.

Perhaps all of Rihanna’s shirts were in the laundry that day. Or maybe she’s the only girl still grappling with the shift in seasons.

Either way, she looks hot ― literally and figuratively ― in this look.

Two Pizza Lovers Got Married And Served Pizza Instead Of Wedding Cake

Bride Jess Melara and groom Tony Sanchez’s wedding day was cheesy in the best way.

The high school sweethearts, who tied the knot in December in Miami, decided to forgo the traditional wedding cake and served their guests a tiered pizza “cake” instead.

“Tony and I love pizza and aren’t huge fans of cake, so we surprised our guests with pizza cake,” the bride told Wedding Chicks. “It was saucy and delicious and what pizza dreams are made of.”

Just look at this cheesy goodness:

Some of the couple’s other wedding details were baseball inspired because the groom plays for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

There were mini baseball bat key chains as escort cards.

Drink napkins had baseball phrases like “Game over” and “Fits like a glove” printed on them.

And of course, dessert wouldn’t have been complete without boxes of Cracker Jacks.

Below, even more photos from the couple’s big day:

The Huffington Post reached out to the couple for comment, but had not heard back at the time of publication. This story may be updated.

3 Reasons You Stay Stuck in a Job You Hate Instead of Pursuing Your Dream

Are you doing work you love? If not, what’s stopping you? If you are like the majority of people, you are probably doing work that pays your bills but that you don’t have a passion for. Even if you are working in the field of your college major, you have likely changed and gained more life experiences, new interests, and are not the same person you were when you chose your career path. That’s okay and far more common than you may imagine. In fact, most people are unsatisfied with their jobs.

According to Gallup, there are twice as many people who dislike their jobs as there are people who love their jobs. As a matter of fact, only 13 percent of all the people studied are happy with their jobs; 63 percent are not engaged in their work and simply go through the motions day in day out. And there are 24 percent who actually hate their jobs. These studies are alarming, but true.

So, why are people resigned to stay unhappy in a job they hate instead of doing work that feeds them and that they are passionate about? It boils down to three main reasons.

1. Fear — that four-letter word that has so many people living a mediocre, passionless life. Fear can be all-encompassing, especially when it means change is involved. So, what are we afraid of?

Fear of failure. This is what I call the “what if” fear. What if I try and do something I am passionate about and fail — what will people think, and what will it say about me? What if I don’t make any money, go bankrupt, lose my house, and end up on the street? We are so afraid to step out because we are worried about failing. It’s been said that Edison failed 1,000 times before he succeeded in creating the lightbulb. Had he been afraid of failure, we may still be living in the dark. Success is never guaranteed, but failure is certain if you fail to try.

Fear of success. At first thought, this may seem illogical because isn’t success what we all want? The answer is no. Many people hold this deep seated fear. They fear that if they are successful, they can no longer be the same person they are today, and that they will have to change. Or, deep down they don’t feel worthy of success. Some feel that if they do achieve success, they may be unable to maintain it, so there is no use in trying. And, there are those who think being successful will take up too much time and energy. Here’s something to consider — isn’t doing work you don’t like already taking up massive amounts of your precious time and energy?

Fear of the unknown. That comfort zone of ours can be quite a motivator to stay where we are. But when we live in that space, we do not expand, grow, learn, or experience all that life has to offer. This is living a life of muted mediocrity, and who wants to live like that? When I worked as a hospice social worker, I had the privilege of being able to experience with people their final days and weeks. I found that one of the top regrets expressed by my dying patients was that they wished they had not been so afraid to take risks along the way, realizing that they could have lived fuller lives if they had not lived so cautiously and played it safe. Who wants to get to the end of their life with regrets of not having lived life to the fullest? Doing just one thing each day to move out of our comfort zone can expand that comfort zone dramatically and make the unknown less scary.

2. Lack of clarity. This can keep people stuck for years. If you are waiting to wake up one day knowing exactly what you want to be when you grow up, you could be waiting forever. Please do not wait for clarity to just show up. Clarity comes from within, and each of us is responsible for creating our own. There are many exercises and techniques that can help you in getting clearer, but you have to be engaged and do the work required to successfully achieve clarity. It may also take exploring different options to see what fits for you. You may even fail a few times, but it will bring you that much closer to figuring out what work you would love. In essence, clarity is truly an inside job.

3. Not knowing how to make it happen. Suppose you know what you would love to do but just can’t figure out how to make it happen. The first step is to set the intention that no matter what, you will make it happen. Once you do this, you have already done half of the work. Your unwavering decision to find a way will begin to overshadow any doubts you have. When you set the intention to do the work you love, the right people and circumstances just start to show up. When you make your mind up, you cannot help but to start attracting what you need to move forward. To keep the momentum, many people find it helpful to create a vision board of exactly what they want their dream job to look like and focus on the outcome daily, expecting results to happen. In the meanwhile, start taking action toward your dream. Take a small step each day. You will find that those small steps start to add up, and before you realize it, your goal of doing work you love is no longer a dream, but a blossoming reality.

What is keeping you from pursuing your dream? Is it fear, lack of clarity, or not knowing how to make it happen? What can you do to push past that barrier and create work that gives you a strong sense of purpose, passion, and fulfillment?

Are you ready to start doing work you love? If so, please join us at Seeking Increase and get your free video mini-course, which will help you discover your natural talents and passions in order to identify and create the work you were born to do.

Tired Of Baby Questions, This Couple Took Pics With Their Pup Instead

Australian couple Matt Kay and Abby Lee were tired of people asking them when they were going to have kids.

With the the help of their photographer friend Elisha Collins of Elisha Minette Photography, the couple of two years came up with the idea of of doing a newborn-style photo shoot with their canine bundle of joy instead.

“Our families joke around about when are we having kids,” Abby told The Huffington Post. “We thought the newborn shoot would be a humorous response.”

“We came up with the idea when we were on the long drive home from picking Humphrey up from the groodle (golden retriever-poodle mix) breeder,” Elisha told HuffPost. “Abby and I have the craziest sense of humor and we feed off of each other with ideas.”

The pictures of the impossibly photogenic pup and his fur parents began to go viral after Elisha posted them to her Facebook page earlier this week.

“We did this shoot just for a little bit of humor between ourselves and our closest family and friends that have the same sense of humor as us,” she said. “We did not expect this to get as big as it has.”

Elisha stressed that the photo session was not intended to make fun of new parents or those who enjoying sharing about their kids on social media.

“This was just clean, simple Sunday afternoon fun,” she added.

7 Things That Get Me High Today (Instead of Booze)

This was originally published at TheFix.com

A lot of people will say that one of the hardest things about sobriety is learning how to have free time. The time that would typically be spent using and getting high is suddenly an intimidating emptiness. For many people, free time is dangerous because it allows them to dwell on missing the high, craving the high. As I’ve witnessed too many times, this can often lead to relapse. So how do you fill a void in your life? Simple: Fill it with something else, something healthier.

Since getting sober, I’ve realized getting high is a state of mind. I would consider getting high to be anything that alters your state of mind in a seemingly positive way — anything that makes you feel above your average self. Alcohol used to do this for me, but since getting sober two years ago, I’ve had to find a number of replacements. The upside of these replacements? They don’t negatively affect my decision-making abilities or get me into trouble with the law or anyone else. The downside? Well, there really isn’t one.

1. Running/lifting/exercise in general. While I’ve yet to experience that runner’s high (I mean, come on, when done running five miles, most people just wanna curl up and cry), exercise still puts me in a clear frame of mind that not much else does. I feel empowered and confident afterwards, much like I felt when I was drinking, but this is actually real. It’s a very healthy time filler, but also has the danger of becoming a cross-addiction–in other words, a replacement for the addiction you are fighting. As with everything in life, moderation is key.

2. Reading. I really, really missed books when I was drinking. Between homework and required reading, I never made time to read for fun. Any free time was spent drinking or recovering from drinking. Now that I’m sober (and no longer have homework), I’ve rediscovered the world of books. They’re so simple to get lost in. Hours can pass when I’m reading and I barely notice–much like a drunken haze, except I’m taking in valuable information instead of making a fool of myself. I think it’s clear which is the better choice.

3. Spending time with the people I love. Sometimes I’m just watching TV with my family, or eating dinner, and it crosses my mind how lucky I am to have people who love me unconditionally. I, as do many people, too often take that for granted when so many people don’t have love like that in their lives.

4. A real relationship. There’s not much that compares to looking at a person when they’re performing a mundane task, such as washing dishes, and literally feeling love fill you up and almost well over. I never had this until I got sober, and I still have trouble believing the relationship I am in really exists. I have trouble believing anything that’s not a drug can make me feel the way a loving relationship does, but it’s true. A real relationship has made me confident, happy, content in my own skin — all things I searched for through drinking before. Now, I don’t have to.

5. Coming home to my pets. This is such a brief part of my day, but a huge part of theirs. It’s an affirming feeling to know that both your absence and presence matter to someone, even if that someone is a furry, four-legged friend who expresses his love through hurling his 80-pound body at you the second you walk in the door. Pets have a way of really making you feel as if you matter, and they have an insight unlike that of humans.

6. Speaking about sobriety. When I first got sober at Hazelden (a rehab center), I swore that the second I was out those doors, I was never walking back in. Not because I planned on staying sober, but because I hated it that much. A few months after being discharged, I walked back in willingly to speak to a group of patients. It was then that I realized the importance of sharing experiences. Something happens when you tell your story and you see it resonate with someone, even just one person. A light appears in their eyes and they think, “Oh, I’m not the only one.” I know because I was one of those patients, and someone who spoke impacted me that way. That day, she was just a person with a story like mine. Today, she is my sponsor and close friend. The same is true of me for one of the patients I spoke to. Life has a funny way of repeating itself. Speaking about my journey still hurts sometimes, but I also learn something about myself each and every time.

7. Writing. I saved the best for last. Flannery O’Connor once said, “I write because I don’t know what I think until I read what I say.” I truly believe those words. I would not still be sober if it weren’t for writing as an outlet. Writing, whether for myself or an audience, has made me see the reality of the way I was living when I was drinking. Some people are visual, and I am one of them. Seeing raw, honest words in front of me has a way of driving home a point more than simply thinking something does. In addition to that, knowing other people read what I write and draw something from it holds me accountable. I don’t want to let myself down, but more than that, I don’t want to let them down. Writing, once published, is permanent — so the actions that accompany it should be intentional and honest. Readers deserve nothing less.

Out Of Coffee? Eat These 10 Foods For Energy Instead

2015-06-23-1435092243-8118192-5_foods_for_energy_blog2000x1086.jpg

Photo credit: Paul Delmont, Thrive Market

By Gina Vaynshteyn for Thrive Market

Like most people who struggle to stay awake during the day, I absolutely need a cup of coffee to get me going — and stay going.

Caffeine is fine in moderation, and an addict probably shouldn’t eliminate it cold turkey, but nobody should be relying on coffee alone to keep their energy up.

Luckily, there are other foods that provide that same, lasting jolt. You don’t need that afternoon latte to perk you up — just work in one of these healthy snacks.

1. Almonds (or really any kind of nuts)
No matter how many times we hear about their numerous health benefits, we always manage to forget about those crunchy little gems. Skipping the coffee and substituting it with a handful of raw, unsalted almonds (or cashews, walnuts, or pistachios) will make you feel just as energetic as you would with a cup of coffee, but without the shakiness and eventual sugar crash. Nuts are an amazing source of healthy fats and proteins that balance blood sugar levels, which tend to drop if you don’t eat for a while. Eating nuts as a snack will keep you going throughout the day without wanting to curl up in a ball under your desk.

2. Oranges
If you tend to start feeling sleepy before dinner time, cut up an orange. If you’re feeling daring, sprinkle some chili on top for a spicy-sweet flavor. The vitamin C in the orange helps circulate oxygen throughout your body and into your brain, giving you a surge of energy those yawns are hinting that you need.

3. Fish
Fish is a magical food source — it contains omega-3 fats that protect brain cells and help your brain function better. If you’re feeling particularly sluggish, prepare some baked salmon for yourself. Not only does it make you feel more awake, but fish is also a lighter meal (with plenty of protein nonetheless!).

4. Blueberries
Blueberries were the original superfood, way back before acai berries and chia seeds took over. Blueberries are still super, and they’re still delicious, so don’t forget about them! Since they are filled to the brim with antioxidants, they help our neural pathways function much more smoothly. In effect, blueberries makes us feel way more alert and awake.

5. Avocados
Avocados are wonderful, and not just because they’re tasty. They’re also energy boosters rich in monosaturated fats used for energy instead of being stored as unhealthy fats. Avocados also contain B vitamins — you know, those vitamins trainers recommend taking before you hit the gym? B vitamins naturally increase your energy levels, so add some avocado to your omelet in the morning, or your salad during lunch.

6. Dates
Bacon-wrapped dates, anyone? Dates have a naturally high abundance of sugar, so the next time you want to add brown sugar or maple syrup to your oatmeal, just slice up some dates instead! The sugar in dates is actually way different than the processed sugar that you can find in soda or candy. You won’t feel that spike in glucose levels, nor will you crash and burn later on. Dates are awesome because they’re filled with fiber, so it’s energy that is effective and long-lasting.

7. Watermelon
Watermelon: the perfect picnic fruit. Watermelon may seem like a hunk of pink slush, but it’s actually bursting with B vitamins. Watermelon is also peppered with the electrolyte potassium (sports drinks are fortified with electrolytes) so you don’t feel tired after an exhausting day. To get the most out of watermelon, eat it with your salad, or enjoy it as a juice (watermelon + basil = heaven).

8. Broccoli
These tiny tree-like veggies are super high in vitamin C, fiber, iron, beta-carotene, antioxidants and chromium. Chromium is the key word here, since it helps regulate your blood sugar so you feel like a normal, high-functioning human being. Avoid overcooking broccoli, since that can deplete some of its powerful properties.

9. Quinoa
You definitely need some carbs in your diet, and the complex ones can do wonders for your body. Smartly eating carbs can boost your serotonin levels, which will make you feel happier and more energized. Quinoa is a seed, so not only is it full of protein, it also contains all nine essential amino acids, and provides hundreds of milligrams of magnesium per serving.

10. Beans
Beans are a great substitute for meat whether you’re going vegetarian or you simply want to cut back on meat. Beans have high levels of protein, and they contain fat as well, but the “good” kind of fat. Best of all, they have a low glycemic index, which stabilizes your energy levels. Add some kidney or black beans in your salad at lunch to keep from falling asleep on your keyboard, or enjoy a bean and cheese burrito for dinner. Eating just one serving per day can make you feel much less sluggish.

This Music Festival Knows It Can’t Stop People From Doing Drugs, So It’s Trying To Keep Them Safe Instead

The upcoming Lightning in a Bottle Music Festival, which starts Thursday in Bradley, California, is a drug-free event. But rather than pretend this label and any effort to enforce it will create a drug-repellant force field around the festival, organizers say they’re preparing for the inevitable: They know some drugs will find their way through security and into people’s bodies, so they’re offering a host of resources to help minimize the potential negative effects on users.

As part of this effort, Lightning in a Bottle and its coordinators at the Do Lab are partnering with two groups, DanceSafe — a health organization that focuses on harm reduction and education at music festivals and nightlife venues — and the Zendo Project — a program sponsored by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies that offers help to anyone going through a difficult experience while on psychedelic drugs.

Part of DanceSafe’s operation involves providing a judgment-free space to proactively address drug dangers before they emerge. The group believes educating people about potential problem signs associated with recreational drug use — often simple things like heat stroke, dehydration and even hyponatremia, a life-threatening condition brought on by drinking too much water — will help users seek treatment earlier rather than later. DanceSafe also offers condoms, earplugs, free water and an open line of communication to anyone who wants to talk about how they can make sure their good time doesn’t become a bad time.

Meanwhile, the Zendo Project offers what Stefanie Jones, nightlife community engagement manager for Drug Policy Alliance, a progressive nonprofit that advocates for drug policy reform, referred to as “mental health services” for people on psychedelic drugs. Anyone who may find themselves confused, upset, uncomfortable or in need of help anywhere else along their psychedelic trip can turn to one of the project’s trained therapists.

DanceSafe has also made a name for itself by offering on-site drug checking, which tells users which substances they actually have and how to use them responsibly. Jones told The Huffington Post that these services will not be available at Lightning in a Bottle due to concerns that organizers could be prosecuted under a federal law that prohibits the “maintaining of a drug-involved premise.”

Music festivals have attracted scrutiny in recent years following a spate of drug overdoses and drug-related deaths. With the growth of cheaper and ever-changing synthetic substances, the music festival drug market — where baggies of different colored powders and pills are often passed between strangers in porta-potties — is only getting harder and more risky to navigate.

Last year, a documentary filmmaker followed a group that offered drug testing services at popular festivals and found that 100 percent of the people who came to them thinking they had MDMA, also called “molly” or “ecstasy,” actually had bath salts, a term that has come to refer to any of a number of popular synthetic drugs. They also found examples of drugs being cut with powerful or dangerous adulterants that would almost certainly change a user’s predicted experience.

While these trends are frightening, they don’t mean fewer people are experimenting with drugs at festivals. This has led to some differing opinions on how to approach the problem.

In New York, the popular electronic music festival Electric Zoo rebooted in 2014, a year after two drug-related deaths made national headlines and forced the event to shut down a day early. Hoping to avoid another death or PR disaster, organizers opted for an enforcement-first approach. Here’s how Billboard described the scene:

In an effort to prevent against casualties, the festival has overcorrected and made widely known its use of high-tech cameras, drug-sniffing dogs and ramped-up security. The substance checkpoints are more thorough, requiring attendees to remove shoes, and cops — both in uniform and undercover — seemed to almost outnumber the fans.

Festival-goers were also required to watch an anti-drug PSA before attending, and organizers dispatched a group of medical students called “Zookeepers” to help with any emerging issues.

In past years, Lightning in a Bottle has also been targeted by intense drug enforcement activity. In 2013, when the event was held in Temecula, California, undercover officers arrested 58 people for drug-related offenses. Many of the suspects claimed they were coerced into selling drugs and accused officers of calling them “hippies” and “brain-dead retards.”

Organizers at Lightning in a Bottle have limited control over how law enforcement chooses to get involved with their event, but they are being more vocal than in years past about their harm-reduction policies.

While DanceSafe has been present at Lightning in a Bottle since 2013 and the Zendo Project joined last year, the festival is making a greater effort this time around to let attendees know that these services are available. They’ve built a “harm reduction” section into the festival’s official code of conduct and, according to DPA, will link to the page in a newsletter they send to attendees. The Zendo Project has also scheduled a basic training on Friday to tell attendees about its services.

After the festival ends, organizers will coordinate with Mutual Aid Response Services, a risk management consulting company, to evaluate the effectiveness of the services and the efforts to promote them, and to determine ways to better integrate these approaches into future events.

Harm reduction is one of many issues being championed by Lightning in a Bottle, which, according to its website, include encouraging people to think hard about whether they should wear a Native American headdress to the festival. To anyone coming from Coachella, the answer is no.

Jones said Lightning in a Bottle is one of the first festivals to get on board with DPA’s push to encourage groups to take more pragmatic approaches to drug use. A guide released by the group lays out the essential considerations and strategies for anyone planning a large-scale event.

And while Jones admitted there is still work to do to break the stigma surrounding drug use — including allowing for on-site drug checking so people can make sure they’re not about to eat rat poison — she praised Lightning in a Bottle for taking such an open and comprehensive stance to harm reduction.

“What they’re doing is a heroic,” Jones said. “They’re making every effort in a tough environment to keep their attendees safe.”

‘Winter, You Win’: Ithaca Tourism Bureau Urges Travelers To Visit The Florida Keys Instead

“That’s it. We surrender. Winter, you win.”

As the Northeast continues to freeze under snowy, stormy, and blustery conditions, the tourism bureau of Ithaca, New York, has conceded defeat, urging potential visitors to go to Florida instead.

VisitIthaca.com, the tourism website run by the Ithaca Convention & Visitors Bureau, recently added a pop-up window to its site, telling visitors that “due to this ridiculously stupid weather,” they should consider foregoing a trip to Ithaca, where sub-zero temperatures are expected this week. Instead, the website urges, go to the Florida Keys.

“On behalf of 100 million Northeasterners, we’re saying that we’re done with cold and snow,” Bruce Stoff, director of the Ithaca Convention & Visitors Bureau, told the Ithaca Journal of the warm weather message. “This is a way for us to stay engaged with our customers at a time when Upstate New York isn’t exactly top of mind.”

On its part, the Florida Keys homepage told CNN that it had nothing to do with the pro-Florida message. A spokesperson for the Florida Keys Tourism Council called it “the wackiest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Bill Nye Says ‘Give A F**k’ About Climate Change Instead Of Deflategate

Bill Nye is weighing in on Deflategate again, but this time he has a few props and a message to share about something far more important.

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick claimed atmospheric conditions and temperature changes could have caused footballs to lose air pressure during the team’s AFC Championship win over the Indianapolis Colts.

On Sunday, Nye said taking that much air out of a ball would require an inflation needle. But in a new video posted on Funny or Die, The Science Guy declared that “one test is worth 1,000 expert opinions,” and put some footballs into a fridge set to 51 degrees, or the temperature at the Jan. 18 game.

That’s where the video takes a very different turn.

“While we’re all obsessed with Deflategate, let’s keep in mind that there’s something about which you should give a fuck,” Nye said. “Yes, like Tom Brady, the world is getting hotter and hotter, and you know why? Because we humans are pumping carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.”

Nye then began listing things that contribute to climate change — including long-winded Deflategate press conferences — and followed that up with a rallying cry.

“You should vote for congressmen and senators that appreciate the threat of climate change and the rate at which the world is getting warmer, so that we can preserve the earth for humankind for generations to come,” Nye said.

Oh, and about those balls…

Nye took one out of the fridge, gave it a squeeze, pronounced it “pretty much the same,” and said “the Patriots probably bent the rules a little bit.”

Nye, who lived in Seattle for a number of years, ended the video with a message that’s bound to rankle the New England faithful: “Go Seahawks!”

3 Reasons To Skip The Season’s Greetings And Send A New Year’s Card Instead

You’ve spent the last four weeks shopping, wrapping, baking, cooking and visiting with family and friends — and you can almost see the light at the end of the holiday tunnel. But in the whirlwind that is the month of December, you’ve forgotten to do one last thing: write and send out your holiday cards.

Luckily, you aren’t the only one. Peggy Post from The Emily Post Institute told The Huffington Post that more and more people are opting to send New Year’s greetings to their loved ones instead of the traditional December holiday card. And with good reason. Here’s why Post suggests you might consider doing so, too.

1. December Is A Chaotic Month.

The weeks leading up to Hanukkah and Christmas are filled to the brim with holiday shopping and obligations. “Some people say they do want to send cards to friends and keep in touch, especially long-lost ones, but they just don’t feel like they have the time to do it justice,” Post said. Give yourself a break — sitting down to write your cards after Hanukkah or Christmas, when you have less going on, is perfectly acceptable, she adds.

2. You Can Wish People A Good Start To The New Year.

“A lot of people like that whole idea of starting out fresh and approaching the new year with a greeting, so it is kind of fun to wish their friends a new year, to really emphasize that,” Post said.

3. You Have More Time.

Think you can only send a card immediately on January 1st? Think again. “Theres no real rule; I’d say in the first week or two that still qualifies as a ‘New Year’s’ card,” Post said. Post mentioned that she received a “New Year’s” card from a friend around Valentine’s Day once that wished her a great year. “The key is to keep in touch with people.”

We completely agree. Check out some of our picks for fun New Year’s cards below.

Would You Walk Around NYC In Body Paint Instead of Jeans? This Woman Did

You know those nightmares where everyone’s wearing pants except you? Well, one bold lady in NYC made that her reality—on purpose.

Leah Jung agreed to let the masters of disguise at Body of Art paint a pair of “skinny jeans” on her otherwise bare bottom half. She then took the subway, strolled around a very crowded Times Square, hit up a McDonald’s, and even shopped at a Forever 21 while Model Prankster TV documented the whole thing.

Though the painted-on jeans do look realistic with their strategically placed rips, it’s still pretty amazing that almost no one seems to notice that Jung isn’t actually wearing pants.

Watch it all go down here and ask yourself: Would you notice?

Dax Shepard Didn’t Want A Wedding Band So He Got This Tattoo Instead

Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell are so not your traditional celebrity couple. When the low-key twosome tied the knot last year at the Beverly Hills Courthouse, the whole thing cost them just $ 142.

So it’s fitting that Shepard went the untraditional, non-flashy route when it came to his wedding band — if you can even call it that. Instead of wearing a ring, the “This Is Where I Leave You” actor had a bell tattooed on his left ring finger in his wife’s honor. And it’s pretty adorable.

During an appearance on “Ellen” on Friday, Shepard discussed his decision to get inked in the name of love.

“I don’t like wearing jewelry, but I felt obliged to warn all the men that I’m taken,” he joked. “I thought a tattoo would be fitting. And her last name, conveniently, is an object I could tattoo.”

In the middle of the tattoo, you can see the letters K (for Kristen), L (for their 18-month-old daughter Lincoln) and a D that we can only assume stands for Dax. Or, given that the couple is expecting their second child together, perhaps it’s for baby number two.

Bell, on the other hand, does wear a ring — and as you might expect, it’s different and totally beautiful.

In Stunning Twist, England Leaves United Kingdom Instead of Scotland!

In what is sure to take up at least a whole chapter in the history books, Prime Minister David Cameron delivered the stunning news that England is leaving the United Kingdom in order to pacify Scotland and that the latter will continue to stay in the union. Queen Elizabeth II will be going with England while Cameron will remain with the UK.

It is rumored that the British were forced to make this sudden decision when the Scots threatened to invade England wearing nothing but kilts — and more disturbingly — no underwear.

In a statement clearly intended to diffuse the growing tension between the two neighbors, Buckingham Palace said, “It is with a heavy heart that we do this but as we say in the stuffiest British tradition: needs must. We did everything we could to persuade the Scottish people to stay within the union but it became increasingly apparent that they just don’t care anymore. As a result, England was forced to make a sacrifice for the sake of everyone. Typical, isn’t it? Anyway, as the James Bond song goes: Nobody Does it Better, and so even though we are leaving, you can be sure we will look bloody good doing it!”

After its separation from the UK, England will no longer be part of the European Union nor will it continue using the pound, which itself will henceforth be called “the currency formerly known as the pound” since the Scots never liked the name. The new seat of government for the UK will be based in Scotland and its iconic flag, the Union Jack, will be replaced by the image of Sean Connery instead.

In celebration of the newfound influence of the land of its birth, Johnnie Walker will provide free scotch to everyone on the planet — except the English, of course — for six hours or until everyone is well and properly sloshed.

Speaking from a castle in the Scottish highlands, which will replace No. 10 Downing Street as David Cameron’s office, the prime minister said that he wishes England nothing but the best for the future but they should really go bugger themselves now that Scotland has emerged as the victor in this game of political brinksmanship. “We never really liked the English in the UK anyway,” he added with a wink.

The only blemish to the jubilation of the Scots has been NATO’s reaction to the news. The leading commander for NATO forces in Western Europe has indicated that the organization may have to kick the UK out because of the Scots. When pushed to clarify the reason for this unusual position, the commander answered, “It’s that damn bagpipe music the Scots are always playing! We have enough problems dealing with Russia without having to be assaulted by that cacophony. The English are annoyingly polite and boring to the point of physical pain but at least they are f—ing quiet.”

Still, according to a poll conducted in Scotland, most people feel that after the Ukrainian fiasco, NATO doesn’t have much credibility left anyway, so why worry about being expelled from the organization? It might actually save the UK some embarrassment if they weren’t part of NATO.

And the best part, according to the Scots, of England leaving the UK? The UK’s most famous alumnus and the reason that anybody even knows the British Secret Service — Sir Sean Connery, who can’t stand the English, has promised that he will return to the big screen as super-spy James Bond as soon as the English depart the scene. According to his agent, the legendary thespian looks forward to many new daring adventures, and to reconnecting with his old flame Pussy Galore.

Kristen Stewart Opts For Sequin Pants Instead Of A Gown At Cannes Film Festival

Kristen Stewart decided to try out a different kind of look for the premiere of “Clouds of Sils Maria” at the Cannes Film Festival on May 23.

The 24-year-old actress, who stars in the film alongside Juliette Binoche and Chloe Grace Moretz, looked très chic in a Chanel couture two-piece jumpsuit, which she paired with nude heels. Stewart styled her orange locks in loose waves and rocked smokey eye makeup.

“I dress really practically, so when I do red carpet things, I like to go extreme on the other side of it,” Stewart recently told PopSugar of her beauty routine. “I really like working with people who love what they do and are a bit more bold. If you’re going to do that job, it’s always more interesting to find artists and not people who just want to get it done. It can be fun to find different aspects of myself, since it’s not usually what I do.”
