Jo Malone London Releases Limited-Edition Birthstone Fragrance Caps

TOP IT OFF: Jo Malone London is releasing a limited-edition collection of bronze bottle caps with birthstones in partnership with brand ambassador Karen Elson and British jeweler Duffy.
The collaboration, Karen Elson’s Birthstones by Duffy, is a personal project for the pair. Elson has always had an affinity for birthstones. “What I love most is that they seem so charming and precious, and the idea of being able to create something coveted and collectible was really important to me,” she said.
Duffy, who works with vintage jewelry, said the collaboration allowed him to achieve his longtime dream of designing a bottle cap. “I’ve always wanted to make a bottle top, either for a drink or a fragrance. It was a challenge to work with an object I’ve never worked with before. It seemed like a natural pairing as Karen and I had already known each other through family connections,” Duffy said.

The Art Deco-style bottle caps are cast from pure bronze and feature a spiked design with a colored, cubic zirconia stone depending on the month. Duffy said he wanted to keep the design sleek and simple. “The Jo Malone London bottle, label and packaging is so iconic on its own,

Queen Hands Honors to Jo Malone, Charlotte Tilbury, Caroline Neville

LOCAL COLOR: It’s that time of year again, when Queen Elizabeth doles out her birthday honors and the royals and British military celebrate the monarch’s official birthday with the Trooping the Colour parade.
Although the queen’s 92nd birthday fell on April 21, the official celebration always takes place in June, a tradition that dates to 1748. A great display of British military might, the event involves the guards of the Household Division and Horse Guards in the British Army.
The new Duke and Duchess of Sussex took part for the first time, with Meghan Markle wearing an off-the shoulder rose-colored dress by Carolina Herrera and a Phillip Treacy hat. She also made her first appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, waving to the public as a fully-fledged member of Britain’s royal family.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a pale blue square-neck dress by Alexander McQueen with a matching Juliette Botterill hat. She rode in a carriage with the Duchess of Cornwall. Prince William, who holds the position of royal colonel of the Irish Guards, rode on horseback during the ceremony.
The Queen also released her annual Birthday Honours list of 1,057 people

Jaime King Hosts Lunch for Jo Malone Girl Poppy Delevingne in L.A.

Another day, another Jo Malone London event, or so it would seem in Los Angeles, where the fragrance brand teamed with model-actresses Poppy Delevingne yet again in her adopted hometown. Delevingne, who just made her big screen debut in Guy Ritchie’s “King Arthur” remake, was overheard telling friends Rachel Zoe and Jaime King that she just bought a house in L.A.

The latter cohosted a lunch at Verlaine in West Hollywood with Jacqui Getty and Rochelle Gores Fredston to celebrate the new “Poptastic” fragrance. The outdoor restaurant featured a confetti-strewn photo booth and plenty of colorful summer cocktails. Among those enjoying the sips were Rachel Zoe, Sally Perrin, Shea Marie and Julia Sorkin.
“I’m going to send this dress to your house today,” Zoe told Delevingne of the Rachel Zoe frock that she wearing. Most guests stuck to the summer dress code of white and blue, giving the party at very Montauk-meets-Malibu vibe.

Delevingne herself has hosted her share of Jo Malone events with fellow model-turned-singer Karen Elson, but there never can be too many al fresco lunches during the slow summer season.

Flying from Malone

Flying from Malone

The 1920s were to flying what the 1960s were to space exploration – an age of adventure, excitement and of crossing new frontiers. And for a short time in the mid-1920s, Belfast was at the forefront of the advancement of civil air transport in the British Isles, with the development of Malone aerodrome, the UK’s first municipal airfield. This new, updated Flying from Malone captures the spirit of that time and tells a remarkable story – of how Belfast blazed a trail in the development of civil aviation that many were to follow. As aviation historian Guy Warner points out: “The courage of those early pioneers and any intrepid passengers should not be underestimated. Northern Airlines made over 100 scheduled flights to and from Northern Ireland, it was an enterprise that deserved greater government support at the time and is worthy of remembrance as having played a part in paving the way for the world in which we now live and travel by air to all parts of the globe.
