Melissa McCarthy Discusses Playing Author Lee Israel in ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’

Vintage typewriters and forged letters might seem like unusual decor for New York’s SVA Theatre, but there could be no better tribute to Lee Israel, the subject of the new Melissa McCarthy-led biopic “Can You Ever Forgive Me?,” which premiered there on Sunday. Israel was a biographer of celebrated women who turned to forging and selling […]

‘SNL’ Bids Hilarious Farewell To Melissa McCarthy’s Sean Spicer

Melissa McCarthy Perfectly Trolls Sean Spicer For Hiding In Bushes

Remember the good old days when avoiding difficult questions just meant ducking into some bushes for a while? Welp. Those days are gone.

Sean Spicer learned that the hard way.

Reporters were all over the story that the White House press secretary hid himself in the bushes … er … sorry … “among” bushes … following the announcement that FBI director James Comey had been fired. Now, as if things couldn’t get worse for Spicer, Melissa McCarthy is here to remind him how ridiculous that was.

McCarthy, who plays the White House press secretary on “Saturday Night Live,” posted herself on Instagram Thursday going crazy as Spicer, along with the caption, “Straight out da bushes.”

Straight out da bushes @nbcsnl #snllivecoasttocoast #snl

A post shared by Melissa McCarthy (@melissamccarthy) on

Ladies and gentlemen, that is how you troll someone.

Oh, but McCarthy has just begun …

The actress is hosting “SNL” this week, and in addition to the Instagram post, she also recently starred in a promo video where she turned into Spicer while lip-syncing, “I Feel Pretty.”

Footage of McCarthy’s upcoming “SNL” performance has apparently already gotten out.

Brace yourselves, everyone. This Saturday, Spicey is coming … slowly …

Sean Spicer Just So Happens To Be Asleep During Melissa McCarthy’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ Sketches

White House press secretary Sean Spicer once said that he found Melissa McCarthy’s scathing “Saturday Night Live” impressions of his job performance “funny,” so we know he’s totally, absolutely, 100 percent on board. Still, he usually sleeps through them.

“I’m usually fast asleep by the time that comes on,” Spicer replied when asked by CNN’s Jim Acosta at the White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday for his opinion on the popular sketches. “I’m in bed, get up, go to church the next day and look ahead.”

“But you have fun with it, right?” Acosta asked.

“Look, my focus is on advancing the president and his policies,” Spicer replied, “and we live in a great world where people can say and do what they want because of the First Amendment, and that’s what makes this such a great country.”

So, maybe not so much fun.

Since President Donald Trump’s January inauguration, McCarthy has popped out of hair-and-makeup a handful of times to perform as Spicer on the late-night show, maligning his aggressive demeanor toward the press pool. (Trump was reportedly not pleased to see a woman dress down his spokesman.) As Spicer, she’s used her podium to physically attack reporters and peddle Ivanka-Trump-branded pumps. Most recently, she appeared in an Easter bunny suit with jokes about Spicer’s ill-advised Holocaust comments.

Speaking with Extra at the event, Spicer also reacted to the news that Alec Baldwin’s “SNL” Trump impressions may be numbered, saying, “that’s great.”

“Obviously, it’s crossed the line from being funny to being bad and mean, so it’s probably good for the show,” Spicer said. Baldwin had credited the administration’s “maliciousness” last month for his reluctance to continue the parodies ― although just last weekend, he appeared on the show to skewer the president once more.

While Baldwin’s “SNL” future remains unclear, McCarthy is going all in. She’s set to host the show May 13.

Melissa McCarthy Is Easter Spicey, The Apologizing Easter Bunny

Sean Spicer had a terrible week, but Melissa McCarthy is here to make it all better.

The actress reprised her role as the White House press secretary on “Saturday Night Live,” only this time she played Easter Spicey, the apologizing Easter Bunny.

After shooing away kids who’d come for the White House’s Easter Egg Roll, McCarthy as Spicer apologized for claiming that Adolf Hitler had never used chemical weapons and for calling concentration camps “Holocaust centers.”

“Everybody shut up so I can apologize,” McCarthy yelled at the press in a white furry jumpsuit. “Yes, you all got your wish this week, didn’t you? … I clearly meant to say ‘concentration clubs,’ OK?”

That apology also managed to bash United by referencing the airline’s recent handling of a passenger who was bloodied and dragged off a plane.

“I would also like you to know that I am sensitive to the fact that they were sent there on trains,” McCarthy said. “Hey, at least they didn’t have to fly United, am I right?”

McCarthy’s bunny suit, a nod to Spicer’s old gig as the Easter Bunny during White House egg rolls in the Bush administration, wasn’t the only prop she used. The actress pulled out “Veggie Tales” hand puppets to explain Passover and, per usual, most of the story was based on alternative facts.

McCarthy closed the skit with a very ominous warning.

“Spicey’s got to hippity hop and deliver these eggs,” she said. “And everybody, just eat as much candy as you want because this is probably our last Easter on earth.”

Then, she destroyed the set.

Melissa McCarthy Spins The Facts As Sean Spicer On ‘Saturday Night Live’

Melissa McCarthy paid a surprise visit to studio 8H last night to take on the role of White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer for “Saturday Night Live.” To put it plainly, she nailed it.

The actress channeled an angry Spicer, spewing “alternative facts” and firing insults at the journalists in the room.

“Before we begin, I know that myself and the press have gotten off to a rocky start,” McCarthy as Spicer shouted. “When I say ‘rocky start,’ I mean it in the sense of ‘Rocky’ the movie, because I came out here to punch you! In the face!”

McCarthy was spot-on throughout the whole sketch, never missing a cue and never breaking character. How she managed to remain serious, we have no idea. Surely, though, President Donald Trump and/or Spicer will have something to say about it.

Watch the whole sketch above. Trust us, it’s worth it.

Jeremy Scott Teams With Melissa on Runway Show Shoes

MAN MADE: If the music at Jeremy Scott’s forthcoming runway show in New York comes blaring from the speakers singing, “Life in plastic, it’s fantastic” — the infamous lyrics from Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” — it wouldn’t be without good reason. That’s because at Scott’s Sept. 14 show, models’ feet will be bound in plastic shoes — designed in collaboration between Scott and Brazilian plastic footwear brand Melissa.
Scott — who will make his fashion week appearance straight off a noted involvement with MTV’s Video Music Awards — designed two Melissa-produced shoes for his spring show. Further information regarding their make, appearance and retail availability could not be learned.
In teaming with Melissa, Scott joins the Brazilian brand’s past collaborators including Vivienne Westwood and Karl Lagerfeld.

I Wore Melissa McCarthy’s Clothing Line for a Week and Here’s What It Looked Like

After being in the works for over a year, Melissa McCarthy’s clothing line is finally here. As its September 1 launch approaches, the funny lady is putting all jokes aside and getting serious about making her mark in fashion.

“I was not OK with the [plus-size fashion landscape], so I decided to do what I could to change it,” she told Glamour at a preview of her first-ever fashion line, Melissa McCarthy Seven7, which will be sold in Nordstrom, Macy’s, and Lane Bryant stores. “A size 14 is the number one size in the country, and we’re telling those women something’s wrong with them by sticking plus-size clothing with the tires and not in the women’s department. We need to stop thinking of plus-size women and just think of women. We need to stop putting everyone in these categories and putting a negative spin on it. Women do not stop at a 12, so why should clothes?”

Melissa-McCarthy-Seven7

On that note, McCarthy’s collection will be made in an extensive range of sizes, from a 4 to 28—and feature basics, signature prints, and her hand-picked must-haves. “I thought, What do I wear in a week? I designed selfishly with things I want in my own closet,” said the actress. “I wanted to do basics with great detail that are easy to mix—all so that the customer can dress for her mood.”

Overall, the collection is super wearable and will be easy to integrate into anyone’s closet. Our favorite pieces? The long-line knit vest, printed Le Meow sweater (side note: her seven-year-old daughter Vivian drew that graphic!), and uber-flattering pencil skirt. Don’t just take our word for it—check out how to wear the collection IRL, right here:

MM-collection-03

Monday: Sweater
“Needing a little more on your bust does not mean that your wrist is the size of a stop sign!” says McCarthy. “I don’t think people have necessarily looked at the clothing on the body. I went to every fitting and got down on my hands and knees pinning to make the clothes proportional. You can’t just grade up the cuts of clothing, you have to make adjustments in design.”

MM-collection-01

Tuesday: Checkered Skirt
The designer explained, “I wore all the pieces for a full day and made adjustments after that. At first, the waistband in the skirt was a little too tight. I changed that and some lengths too. With those adjustments and everything that’s in there as a base, it’s like a built-in foundation. You don’t need to double up and wear all the underpinnings [like Spanx].”

MM-collection-04-MOD

Wednesday: Checkered Pants
“Somebody said to me, ‘Oh, no one plus-size wants a patterned pant!’ But I was making patterned pants for myself all the time—because I can’t find them in stores—and people were asking me where I got them,” she says.

MM-collection-05

Thursday: Knit Vest
“The basics are stylish but really versatile,” says McCarthy. “With the simpler pieces, I want the woman to be the statement. The long-lines are a little chicer and really forgiving. If you don’t like it, nothing’s easier than taking up a hem.”

MM-collection-02

Friday: Flannel Shirt
“I think we do so much tearing down of women. In the same amount of time with the same amount of energy, you can lift them up. If me doing a clothing line that’s like, ‘Yeah, wear the checkered pants! Wear the flannel! Wear the damn cheetah print, I beg you!’ helps lift them up, that’s amazing. We only get one go around, have a little fun,” she says. Amen!

‘Fashion Police’ Returns In August With Melissa Rivers As Co-Host

After the death of Joan Rivers, losing two co-hosts and a whole lot of drama, “Fashion Police” will return this August with Melissa Rivers, reports Variety.

E! announced that veteran co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski will also return to the show, kicking off the first episode with coverage of the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 31. The new season will feature the trio of co-hosts, as well as two other rotating celebrity guests in each episode.

Back in March, E! announced the show was going on hiatus after co-hosts Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin left the series. The former co-hosts exited amid drama surrounding Rancic’s offensive remarks about actress Zendaya’s dreadlocks during a post-Oscars episode of “Fashion Police.”

On the show, Rancic said Zendaya’s dreadlocks made her look as if she smelled “like patchouli oil” or “weed,” though it was later confirmed that the co-host’s remarks were edited, and that she was making a reference to “hippie culture.”

Melissa Rivers Is Set to Host Fashion Police

After turbulent times at Fashion Police following the September passing of Joan Rivers, it looks like the seas are finally settling. Joan’s daughter, Melissa Rivers, is set to join the show and will be taping her first episodes at the end of August.

melissa-and-joan-rivers

“Melissa’s going on. The idea actually came from her, [and] the bosses like it,” a source told the New York Daily News. “It’ll be a tribute to her mom, and Melissa’s the one who understands how it’s done. She can pull it off.”

Melissa is set to record six episodes, with no official word on when the shows will start airing. In lieu of permanent cohosts, different celebrities will sit alongside Rivers on each episode. The set is also reportedly going to get a redesign.

After a widely publicized hunt for an original replacement (including rumors swirling around The Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s Nene Leakes), Kathy Griffin was announced as the official heir. Flash forward three months and Griffin turned in her resignation letter, saying, “I do not want to use my comedy to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance toward difference… I discovered that my style does not fit with the creative direction of the show, and now it’s time to move on.” The month prior, Kelly Osbourne left, reportedly due to Giuliana Rancic’s red carpet hair gaffe with Zendaya.

‘Spy’ Star Carlos Ponce Talks Melissa McCarthy, ‘Cristela’ And Latinos On TV

Melissa McCarthy delivers a punch as deftly as she does a punchline in her new action comedy “Spy,” and co-star Carlos Ponce says he learned plenty from watching the actress and comedian work on set.

The Puerto Rican actor is known for his role as the reluctantly friendly brother-in-law and floor installation guru Felix on ABC’s recently nixed “Cristela.” But in “Spy,” Ponce trades his tools for a suit to become CIA agent Matthew Wright, who briefly appears on-screen to ruffle the feathers of his ultra-macho, comically impassioned fellow agent Rick Ford (Jason Statham). The testosterone levels of their interaction are as high as it gets for a film driven by its expertly cast female stars.

“Spy” is directed by Paul Feig (“Bridesmaids” and “Heat”) and marks his third collaboration with McCarthy. The film portrays Susan Cooper (McCarthy), a desk-bound CIA analyst who volunteers to go undercover when the identities of the agency’s best spies are compromised. Rose Byrne stars as a villainous and spoiled Bulgarian arms dealer, and Miranda Hart as fellow analyst Nancy.

spy two

Melissa McCarthy faces off against a knife-wielding adversary (Nargis Fakhri) in ‘Spy.’

Ponce, 42, spoke to The Huffington Post recently and gave some unexpected responses to questions about working in a film packed with females and the type of female characters he’d like his daughters to see in Hollywood. The actor also discussed why he feels “Cristela” was a “great accomplishment,” despite its recent cancellation.

How did you get involved with “Spy”?

Well, it’s a little different from most of my other projects — it was more of an approach then an audition. Something that I was very proud of. Just being surrounded by these wonderful comedians where you can not only go work but have fun. It really, really was a great gig.

The film is actually very female-centric, with Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne and Miranda Hart bringing different comedy to the table — what was it like to work with a set filled with funny women?

There was a hell of a lot of estrogen on that on that set, definitely. But it’s all the good kind, because at least it’s the ones that are always in a good mood. It was a lot of fun.

What kind of things did you learn about comedy from watching them and the rest of cast on set?

A lot of times it’s just different styles — a lot of comedians have different styles, and [I learned] how different they are from their personalities. Just watching Jason, for example, who is not necessarily a comedian, just pull those power punches with great timing, and then watching people who are very sensible to comedy but not necessarily branded comedians, like Jude Law [who plays the spy Bradley Fine in the film].

Melissa McCarthy was just impeccable with everything. She has a sense of delivery that is very uncommon, very her own and something relatable that people love from her. She’s approachable and she’s lovable no matter what roles she’s doing. And those are things you can only learn when you watch, when you watch other people. You read a line, you know how it’s supposed to come, and then you hear it coming out of an artist and you’re like, ‘Wow, look at how much you can do with this.’

And you play CIA agent Matthew Wright. I have to say I was disappointed that we didn’t get to see more of you in the film.

Yeah [laughs], well, we’ll see. Hopefully it’s such a good movie that it’ll have a sequel and then we’ll all be hanging around.

Has there actually been talk about the possibility of “Spy 2”?

Well, talking over dinner with Paul Feig, he seemed very open to the option. We’ve even gotten into conversation of maybe where it would go. But you never know, I mean, Hollywood is a giant mystery, so you never know what ends up happening.

You’re the father of two daughters. There’s been so much debate in Hollywood about placing more women in lead roles, and “Spy” is definitely one that showcases female talent. What kind of women do you hope for your daughters to see in film and television?

Well, the best you can do is outside of what they’re going to watch — which is inevitable, and you can’t control their surroundings — is teach them by example at home and not let a character in a movie make them want something or react a certain way.

I feel in general, men — when you watch TV and when you watch commercials — are usually not portrayed as very smart. Guys with great drive are usually controlled by the woman. In fact, that’s what makes them funny or comedic, and people want that. You know what I’m talking about? When you watch commercials, you see the guy sitting down playing the PlayStation, drinking the beer, and the woman is actually the one doing all the smart things.

OK … so you’re saying the representation of men on television is also off?

I think it’s a little bit of both. I just think — then again, we’re all just portraying characters and real life should be guided by examples of what you learn at home.

And speaking of men on television, you portrayed Felix on “Cristela.” Many in the Latino community were very sad to hear that “Cristela” was canceled last month. What is your biggest takeaway from being a part of the show?

I think it was a great accomplishment no matter what. I think so many things were done with that show and through that show: breaking stereotypes and boxed-in rules. The fact that a Latino woman [Cristela Alonzo] could be a creator, writer, executive producer of the whole show — it skipped a lot of steps, a lot of logistical steps. I think it’s amazing, the fact that you can have a Latino family on television, it’s certainly a move into the future.

I do think that we’re still a little bit under-represented, considering how much TV we watch and that we’re 20-something percent of the moviegoing business in America, yet we’re represented something like 4 percent. I think it’s still a work in progress. We need to do more. But I did take a lot from it. It was just a great show — we were number one in our time slot. It’s just a matter of negotiations, the reason why it didn’t end up working out.

cristela carlos ponce

From left, Kevin Hench, Cristela Alonzo and Carlos Ponce speak onstage during a “Cristela” panel at the Disney/ABC Television Group 2014 Summer TCA. (Photo by Richard Shotwell/Invision/AP)

“Jane The Virgin” is another example of a show giving an authentic portrayal of Latinos in the U.S. But there are other Latino stories that need to be told.

Yeah, well, I love the particular feel of “Jane The Virgin.” I think it’s an amazing show. Also she is fantastic, Gina [Rodriguez of “Jane The Virgin”], and she’s a hope-maker for a lot of Latinoamericanas who are here and are looking to perhaps pursue a career in this. And I think it’s a fantastic show. I really hope that [“Cristela”] and “Jane The Virgin” and some other shows that have included some great non-stereotypical Latino actors are opening doors and we’ll get to see a lot out of that pretty soon.

And you’ve spent your entire career between English-language projects and Spanish-language projects. But after “Cristela” and “Spy,” do you think you’d like to focus more on your English-language career?

You know, I think I’m going to keep doing whatever I have been doing, which, basically, I let God take the lead. The projects that come my way — I put them on a balance and look at how they affect my day-to-day. How will they affect my time with my kids who are still young and still want to hang out? Those are my priorities right now. I’m not seeking to establish a particular market, to me it’s more a per-project and whatever works out better for my personal life, and that’s how I choose projects. At least for now. Until my kids are old enough to do their own thing.

“Spy” opens nationwide on June 5.

First Nighter: Emily Schwend’s ‘The Other Thing,’ Melissa Ross’ ‘Nice Girl’ on Nice Women or Otherwise

Sometimes at the theater, the women wrest it from the men — not quite that often, but sometimes. This is one of those weeks. I’m talking about The Other Thing, written by Emily Schwend and directed by Lucie Tiberghien, at Second Stage’s McGinn/Cazale Theatre Uptown, and Nice Girl, written by Melissa Ross and directed by Mimi O’Donnell, at Labyrinth’s current Bank Street Theatre home. It’s a rare combination of women helming works by women, but it’s just happened.

The Other Thing has another rare attribute in that it’s a ghost story for the stage. Or is it? Kim (Samantha Soule) is interviewing Carl (John Doman) on a subject about which she’s become obsessed: ghost-hunting. She listens to him describe his adventures for some time, also encountering his son Brady (James Kautz). She’s benignly taking notes and recording right up until something unexpected and intensely theatrical occurs that puts a jarring end to the first act.

At that point Kim — it could be Samantha Soule as herself — enters from the side, waving hello to someone or someones in the audience and says she’s going to tell a genuine ghost story. She starts talking about a little girl who unfortunately is witness to her mother’s murder. What she has to say begins to sound as if it might be connected to the first-act development.

When she’s completed the story, the next act begins with Kim in her bedroom where estranged boyfriend, Thomas (Bhavesh Patel), turns up to affect a reconciliation. (He still had keys.) Although Kim eventually acquiesces, she seems to be taken over by some unexplained force for a brief time. Then and suddenly, something like the incident that ended the first act takes place.

That’s when what has slowly been suggested about Kim — her own experiences with ghosts and how they’ve affected her — speeds up. As young Brady arrives to challenge Kim’s account of her visit to his dad and its abrupt conclusion, playwright Schwend reveals her preoccupation with ghosts more clearly. The hints — okay, they’re stronger than hints — are that the bodies piling up have more to do with Kim than she owns.

Ultimately, Schwend does let on what’s happening. Indeed, before she finishes her ghost story, she may have over-explained herself. What she has to confide about Kim and the relationship to her deceased(?) mother may be more than a savvy audience needs to learn, since they’ve already correctly figured it out.

What Schwend wants to establish about ghost proliferation — that more often than not their apparent appearance can be traced to emotional conflicts — is persuasive, and she has fun presenting her case on Kris Stone’s adaptable set. With the cast doing their utmost, under Tiberghien’s guidance to raise the play’s scare barometer, she keeps the play’s engine purring.

At the same time, and underlying her storyline, is the suggestion that unresolvable animosity between the sexes is rampant. As audience members exit the theater, they may be wondering whether that eternal man-woman anger isn’t something the playwright is working out for herself or on behalf of women friends. Whether or not, Schwend has conjured a rootin’-tootin’ escapade.

There’s no doubting that Ross’s Nice Girl has the appropriate title. Josephine (Diane Davis) is definitely a nice girl — not that she can always resist the temptation to swap sarcasms with habitually disapproving mother Francine (Kathryn Kates) in the modest David Meyer-designed home they share.

Josephine is getting closer to 40 than she’d like without being married, while feigning-illness Francine is wavering, at best, on the prospect of Josephine’s tying the knot with an eligible man. That man — former classmate, Donny (Nick Cordero) — turns up not too long after Josephine has run into him at his butcher shop and later that night encounters him again at a local nightclub where office pal, the fast-moving co-worker Sherry (Liv Rooth), has dragged her.

Apparently no longer married to his high school sweetheart, Donny turns out to be as nice a guy as Josephine is a nice girl — although there is a complication involving Sherry. As Josephine and Donny renew their friendship, they begin to show signs of having a future together, not that Francine doesn’t lodge objections and not that those objections don’t carry more weight with Josephine, despite the breakthroughs she and Donny make with each other. The respective honesty about their own failings is one of the strongest of dramatist Ross’s attractions.

Ross is writing about people who live their lives in quiet desperation around the kitchen table, on the front-porch swing, at their workaday jobs and during their unrewarding pastimes. She does a commendable job of capturing the plights of people who don’t expect happiness but are willing to settle for the best they think they can get. In this, she not only includes Josephine and Francine but Donny and Sherry as well. Making her melancholy point(s), she’s aided by her cast and director O’Donnell, who couldn’t be more sympathetic to the potentially deleterious effects of niceness.

You Have To See Melissa McCarthy’s Hilarious First Headshots

Melissa McCarthy thought she had the only two hard copies of her first headshots, but, oh, was she wrong.

During Friday’s episode of “The Graham Norton Show,” the host dug up two of McCarthy’s first headshots, which are almost too good to be true. The “Spy” star shared the story behind the photos, explaining that she’d posed as two of her comedy characters from the time. One was Carol, a woman who passed out cheese samples in a grocery store.

melissa mccarthy headshot

For the other pic, a 26-year-old McCarthy decided to wear a mini cowboy hat from a Western Barbie and turn the boots into earrings.

While on the topic of headshots, Chris Pratt, who was also visiting the show, retold the scary story of his own first headshot, an anecdote that involves Pratt living out of his car and getting naked in a stranger’s apartment. Ah, showbiz.

Melissa McCarthy And Paul Feig Are At It Again In The First ‘Spy’ Trailer

Melissa McCarthy and Paul Feig are shaping up to become the decade’s most coveted comedy duo. He directed her to an Oscar nomination for “Bridesmaids,” in 2011, and then again opposite Sandra Bullock in 2013’s “The Heat.” In May, McCarthy will topline the first movie Feig has written since 2003’s “I Am David.”

Called “Spy,” McCarthy plays an uncelebrated CIA analyst who volunteers to go undercover to find a deadly arms dealer, and she’s surrounded by an ensemble that includes Rose Byrne, Jude Law, Jason Statham, Allison Janney, Bobby Cannavale and 50 Cent. “Spy” hits theaters May 22, within the same month as other highly anticipated big-screen comedies: “Pitch Perfect 2,” Cameron Crowe’s still-untitled rom-com, and Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara’s police office/prisoner buddy romp.

‘Mike & Molly’: Melissa McCarthy Squared Off Against An Exercise Ball And We All Won

Melissa McCarthy is one of the most gifted physical comedians working today, as evidenced by her feature film work, her guest hosting stints on “Saturday Night Live,” and this most recent season of “Mike & Molly.” The CBS sitcom is leaning hard on McCarthy to bring her signature lunacy to the mix, and it’s definitely adding new energy to the show

It may be in the simplest moments that McCarthy shines the brightest. A brilliant physical comedian can get laughs with the simplest of set-ups. In this case, it was McCarthy squaring off against an exercise ball … and it was hilarious! After failing to get her writing chair comfortable enough, Molly decided she’d give the exercise ball a try.

Anyone who’s tried to sit on one will tell you it’s not as easy as it might look. For Molly, it was an absolute disaster, as she nearly wiped out on several occasions. For “Mike & Molly” it was a simple scene that may have had some of the strongest laughter of the night. The show doesn’t have to break the mold to be funny. Melissa McCarthy can make anything funny, and sometimes simple is better. Just point the camera and let her go. The laughs will follow.

“Mike & Molly” airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.

TV Replay scours the vast television landscape to find the most interesting, amusing, and, on a good day, amazing moments, and delivers them right to your browser.
