Lathi to Run Daily Operations at Tailored Brands After Ewert’s Departure

Executive board chairman Dinesh Lathi will take over the day-to-day operation of Tailored Brands when Doug Ewert retires as chief executive officer at the end of the month.
The news was revealed during the company’s second-quarter earnings call Wednesday afternoon. Lathi was not named interim ceo, as industry sources had speculated, but will continue to hold his board title while the company conducts “a comprehensive search” for a replacement.
“I am honored and excited to lead the team during the transition process,” Lathi said on the call. “The board has begun a comprehensive search for a new ceo. Our top priority is identifying the best person to lead the company. The board will move forward thoughtfully and will take the time it needs to find the right leader for Tailored Brands.”
He said that when he steps up into the operational role in a few weeks he will be “focused on working with the executive team to accelerate the pace of execution and innovation and our core growth strategies of meeting consumers’ demand for personalization by growing our custom business, strengthening our brands through transformative marketing campaigns, and enhancing our omnichannel capabilities to deliver a superior shopping experience.”
Lathi, 47, is the former ceo of

Jay Z Named President of Basketball Operations at Puma

Jay Z will have an executive position at Puma.
The artist and entrepreneur has joined the sports brand as president of basketball operations and will work on player signings, product design and marketing strategy.
The appointment came on the same day that Puma said it was relaunching its basketball division. It hosted an event in Brooklyn with former New York Knicks legend Walt “Clyde” Frazier, who was honored with a lifetime Puma contract.

This relaunch comes shortly after Puma signed Deandre Ayton, Marvin Bagley and Zhaire Smith to its basketball roster. Ayton is predicted to be the number-one pick at this Thursday’s NBA draft and Bagley’s deal is one of the biggest rookie shoe deals since Kevin Durant signed with Nike in 2007. Vince Carter was the last NBA player Puma endorsed in 1998.
In his new role, Jay Z will influence which players Puma works with in its basketball division and how the brand develops aesthetically. Roc Nation, Jay Z’s entertainment company, has worked with Puma before on different sneaker releases including Jay Z’s 4:44 Clyde sneaker that had a limited release at Kith, and Emory Jones’ two-shoe collaboration that was released last February. Exclusive: Lizzie Tisch, Kim Kassel’s Suite 1521 Winds Down Operations

After a four-year run, Suite 1521, which hosted members-only trunk show events, is winding down its business.
The company was cofounded by Kim Kassel and Lizzie Tisch, longtime friends who set out to reinvigorate the personal shopping experience.
“We’re canceling all of our fall events and we are going to stay open through our shipping period, which will probably be March,” Kassel said on Tuesday. “We have fall and resort orders to ship. We will be fulfilling all of our commitments to our designers and fulfilling all of our orders to our clients.”
The company occupies a 4,000-square-foot showroom and offices at 980 Madison Avenue in New York.
Tisch said the partners couldn’t pinpoint a specific reason for the closing and there were many factors at play. “We had a real specific vision for the business, and it was all about the experience and we tried a number of different avenues. When we really sat down and started to think about how hard we’ve worked over the past four years and where this is going, we just came to the conclusion that after four years, that it would be the best decision for both of us and our team to close,” Tisch said. Covert Operations

Covert Operations

Covert Operations: Alpha is the first in a series of books that will be based loosely on my experiences as a Game Master. Over the years I have GM’d many different game systems, and I have improved on each just a little in my Role Playing Game(Covert Operations.) My unique approach to role playing and to GMing has spawned this first book. Covert Operations: Alpha is a Sci-Fi Drama, which follows several characters through death, murder and mayhem after a failed covert operation. Spy is one of the main characters. After he fails to steal information from a genetics company, his friend is killed during the re-attempted theft. The theft and the death set off a chain of events that will involve most of the key players in Chicago, and bring dozens to their death as well as making many more wish that they were dead. Mix in some magic, high technology and some cosmic involvements, and you have one volatile ride. Don’t blink or you might just get lost in the fray. So hold on and enjoy.

Onboard Computers, Onboard Software and Satellite Operations

Onboard Computers, Onboard Software and Satellite Operations

This book is intended as a system engineer’s compendium, explaining the dependencies and technical interactions between the onboard computer hardware, the onboard software and the spacecraft operations from ground. After a brief introduction on the subsequent development in all three fields over the spacecraft engineering phases each of the main topis is treated in depth in a separate part. The features of today’s onboard computers are explained at hand of their historic evolution over the decades from the early days of spaceflight up to today. Latest system-on-chip processor architectures are treated as well as all onboard computer major components. After the onboard computer hardware the corresponding software is treated in a separate part. Both the software static architecture as well as the dynamic architecture are covered, and development technologies as well as software verification approaches are included. Following these two parts on the onboard architecture, the last part covers the concepts of spacecraft operations from ground. This includes the nominal operations concepts, the redundancy concept and the topic of failure detection, isolation and recovery. The baseline examples in the book are taken from the domain of satellites and deep space probes. The principles and many cited standards on spacecraft commanding, hardware and software however also apply to other space applications like launchers. The book is equally applicable for students as well for system engineers in space industry.
