Ryan Murphy on Bringing His Own Experiences to ‘Pose’ and the Importance of Authenticity

While Ryan Murphy may claim that he has taken a backseat when it comes to showrunning “Pose,” he is not shying away from bringing his own particular experiences to the story of 1980s ballroom culture in the LGBTQ community and the fear surrounding the AIDS epidemic of the time. “I would drive myself to the […]

Sister Act! Watch the KarJenners Pose Around the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Sexy Gala Video

Kim, Kendall, and Kylie take the Met!

Keeping Up with the Kardashians stars Kim Kardashian West, Kendall JennerKylie Jenner and mom Kris Jenner appeared to have a ball at Monday’s 2018 Met Gala, walking the red carpet of the Costume Institute’s annual benefit and sharing a slew of selfies from inside the ball.

But while the three sisters didn’t pose together for photographers, they united inside New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art where “they struck poses against the gorgeous walls of the French Wrightsman galleries” in a video shared to Vogue‘s Instagram page.

Meanwhile, all three reality stars looked glam on fashion’s biggest night out.

Though all seemed to skip the over-the-top couture designer duds that stars like Cardi B, Rihanna, and Katy Perry costumed themselves in for the event’s “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” theme, the KarJenners found their own way to stand out.

Kardashian West, 37, looked like liquid gold in her custom chainmail Versace dress featuring crosses embroidered on the bodice and hip. She teamed the look with double cross necklaces, super long extensions and a Cleopatra-like makeup look featuring a smokey cat eye and a very ’90s over-lined lip that would make co-host Donatella Versace  proud.

Kendall, 22, rocked an off-the-shoulder ruched couture top with sheer elbow-length gloves and matching “long train” couture pants designed for her by close friend, Off-White creative director Virgil Abloh.

The model was “reminiscent of an angelic cloud sought to signify Roman Catholicism in renaissance art – embodying purity and delicacy of a modern angel,” according the release sent by the brand.

Meanwhile, Kylie, 20, made her post-baby return to the red carpet just three-months after welcoming daughter Stormi Webster.

Attending alongside boyfriend Travis Scott, she wore a head-turning strapless black Alexander Wang gown with a stomach cut-out, mirrored sunglasses and Chopard diamond earrings.

“We were all so nerve-wracked because it was such a big moment, but she killed it,” makeup artist Ariel Tejada told PeopleStyle of her look. “It’s refreshing for somebody to walk onto a carpet looking refreshed and glowing and just ready to take on the event.”

LeeAnne Locken

How have you learned to embrace features you’re self-conscious about?
I have gotten very good at covering up the scars on my face with makeup but in the end, they are simply evidence of a life that has been lived!

As you’ve gotten older, how has your beauty routine changed?
I have always washed my face religiously! Every morning and night. Products have come & gone but a gentle cleanser is everything to me!

If you were only going to wear one beauty product, what would it be?
Tinted sunscreen. When I was a kid I laid on a black trampoline to sunbathe, can you say first degree burn! Now I am very cautious about sun damage and pigmentation.

Brandi Redmond

When do you feel most beautiful?
I feel most beautiful when I’m makeup free, and I see my daughters in me.

What physical feature have you always loved to play up?
My eyes. To see is to believe and everyone can speak with their eyes.

How have you learned to embrace features you’re self-conscious about?
I was self-conscious about my smile because of one tooth but having a crooked tooth gives me character and a reason to always excuse myself to floss.

D’Andra Simmons

When do you feel most beautiful?
I feel most beautiful when I am with my husband. He thinks I am beautiful all the time!

What does being make-up free mean to you?
Being make-up free means being comfortable in my own skin, and having a clean face that is glowing. I developed Hard Night Good Morning skincare to help women be beautiful naturally, and have skin that they don’t have to hide under makeup.

How have you learned to embrace features you’re self-conscious about?
I am keenly aware of aging taking its natural course on my face and my body. I take care of my skin and make regular trips to the dermatologist for Clear and Brilliant (mini-fraxel laser treatments), oxygen facials and skin tightening. As for my body, I am always self-conscious about the way I look, especially my weight. I have learned to play up my best physical features and dress to enhance them instead of wearing what is trendy, but may not look the best on me. I always dress for my figure.

If you were only going to wear one beauty product, what would it be?
L-22 Elixir by Hard Night Good Morning — the one stop shop to anti-aging!

Cary Deuber

How have you learned to embrace features you’re self-conscious about?
I have been self-conscious about my tummy since I’ve had a child. My skin is a little loose and it has made me crazy for years. This year, I decided to just let it go and be happy with it. Having a child is the best thing I’ve ever done and a little loose skin is not a big deal.

When do you feel most beautiful?
When I am at the beach. I love just throwing on a swimsuit and cover-up and tinted sunscreen.

Stephanie Hollman

When do you feel most beautiful?
I feel most beautiful when I’m with my kids because they tell me I look like a princess…and kids don’t lie.

What does being make-up free mean to you?
There is something about being makeup free that gives me the sense of freedom and authenticity. There is nothing hiding me from the world. My skin is at its best when I eat healthy, work out and stay hydrated. Even though these are my daily goals, at times I slip and refocus. As I grow older I’m experiencing the importance of self-care. I do all that I can to slow down the aging process.

What physical feature have you always loved to play up?
I really try to play up my eyes. My mom always emphasized making eye contact when talking to others as a sign of respect so when I was learning how to do my makeup, the first thing I wanted to perfect was my eyes because if someone was going to look me in the eye, I want them to look good.

Kameron Westcott

As you’ve gotten older, how has your beauty routine changed?
I have found myself using more products with sunscreen. It is so incredibly important to make sure you are fully protected from the sun at all times.

If you were only going to wear one beauty product, what would it be?
Jane Iredale Tinted Sunscreen.

David Foster and Katharine McPhee Are All Smiles as They Pose Together at Oscars Party

David Foster and Katharine McPhee can’t resist the glitz and glamour of the Oscars.

Foster, 68, and McPhee, 33, spent Sunday together at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party sponsored by Bulgari.

Although the pair didn’t walk the red carpet together, they were all smiles as they posed side-by-side inside the event.

The American Idol alum looked chic in a semi-sheer lacy black dress. The Grammy-winning producer was also dressed for the occasion, wearing a classic black suit with a partially unbuttoned white shirt underneath.

Be sure to check out PEOPLE’s full Academy Awards coverage to get the latest news on Hollywood’s big night.

Although McPhee and Foster have yet to comment publicly on their relationship, the musical pair first sparked romance rumors in September 2017, after the latter’s daughter Erin Foster shared photo of them together in Los Angeles.

While McPhee and Foster have been friends for years — first meeting on the set of American Idol when McPhee was a contestant in 2006 —  Erin captioned the photo, “Excited about my new step mom.” (A source close to the situation told PEOPLE at the time that the social media posts were a joke.)

RELATED: Oscars 2018 Nominations: Get Out and Lady Bird Score Big

Asked about the relationship rumors, McPhee previously told PEOPLE that she had “zero desire” to address them. “It’s great that they want to do that. I think it’s so amusing that people are amused by my love life,” she added.

“Here’s how I look at it: I’m not doing anything wrong, so whether people think it’s true or false, I don’t, you know, there’s nothing bad happening in my life, so people can just say whatever they want,” she said.

The 2018 Oscars were held at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center on March 4 and were telecast live on ABC.

Also featured is blogger and Refinery29 writer Liz Black, who said on Instagram that while it took “years” to love her body, now she prefers to “celebrate it in style.” In a statement, she also applauded Torrid for its fashionable offerings. “My body deserves better than the blandness typically offered to plus size women,” she said.

Torrid also took to its own Instagram to share some images, including a shot featuring familiar faces Precious Lee and Georgina Burke.

And The Kinsella Family’s Weird Pose Lives On

The family that poses weirdly together, stays together, right? That seems to be the case with the Kinsella siblings, a family that Huffington Post first visited with three years ago. For almost three decades, the Kinsellas have posed for photos in the same somewhat strange stance with the brothers on the outside and sisters with legs crossed in the air in the middle. It’s something they started doing in 1988 and they’ve struck “the pose” at weddings, multiple Major League Baseball games, their mother’s funeral, home gatherings, a tattoo shop and the penultimate photo for this baseball-loving family: the Field of Dreams site. The four siblings — three of whom live in Houston and one in Nebraska — even traveled back to their childhood home in Brick Township, N.J., to pose for a photo there.

After we wrote about the Kinsellas’ pose, they were contacted by The Today Show, Ellen DeGeneres and Good Morning America — all seeking to have the four adult siblings on the air. The Today Show flew the four to New York where they struck “the pose” for the world to see and “had a blast for three days,” said family spokesman Mike Kinsella.

Brothers Mike and Tim Kinsella and sisters Sharyn Bauer Kemper and Eileen McFarland all have identical “pose” tattoos. While no two of the siblings agree how “the pose” originated, Mike Kinsella notes, “Remember, we started taking them long before date-stamped photos.”

kinsella2

How does Mike explain the connection the four have — and the world’s interest in their family photo tradition? Simple, he said. “We grew up loving each other and we remain very close,” said Mike. That comes across in “the pose.” “We just have fun. We get together and always laugh. You can see it in the pose.”

He said a family reunion is planned for later this summer and the Nebraska sister is thinking of moving to Texas once she retires. The times, of course, aren’t always good. Sister Eileen just completed a 30-day treatment course for skin cancer and brother Tim lost his job at a print shop. But “we will always be there for each other,” said Mike.

And yes, there will always be more photos of “the pose.”

Young Women Pose In Their Mothers’ Wedding Dresses, Exploring The Mythic Power Of A Gown

There’s something strangely magical about wedding gowns, the white dresses infused with fantastical (if not slightly old fashioned or misguided) ideas about femininity, purity and love. Quite often, young women look up to their mothers as models of this romantic reverie, their dresses serving as matriarchal symbols, ghostly remnants of a crucial event they are intimately linked to though did not experience physically.

In her photography series “The Line,” French photographer Céline Bodin engages with the beautiful and somewhat strange mystique of the notable white dress, exploring the complex roles a clothing garment plays in the lives of both mother and daughter.

the line

“The images engage with our notion of purity, challenging our perception and the equation it immediately operates,” Bodin explained to The Huffington Post. “The apparent cleanness acts as camouflage and unsettles the apprehension of our customs’ determinatives. Echoing icons, the portraits quietly recall religious purity and aim to question what exactly defines such incarnation and where does its essence lie: is it within the dress, the person, the vision, or the idea?”

For the series, Bodin enlisted young women she already knew as her subjects, whether family friends or previous models. Their first task was convincing their mothers to let them wear the dresses for the shoot, an endeavor which in itself proved challenging for some. Just the difficulty involved in persuading the former brides to wear the sentimental attire speaks to its unusual, and almost mythic power.

ahnds

“The resulting portrait might be one of both mother and daughter,” Bodin continued. “With melancholy it highlights an absence that can only find reality in each girl’s imagination, fed by the detail of the lace, the small holes and stains left on the dress, the old wedding photographs they might have seen. Confronting time and generations, the models silently re-enact a past they can only fantasize, allowing themselves to embody the archetypal role.”

Bodin’s photos subtly address many assumptions latently associated with wedding dresses, like the outmoded understandings of purity that, though far less relevant in the younger generation than in their mothers’, still lives on in the lore of the wedding dress.

The images, captured intensely against a white backdrop, appear at first almost like advertisements, with the subjects staring boldly straight ahead. Yet upon closer investigation, small imperfections, both in the dress and the images themselves, begin to appear. The photographs expose the tears and holes in the dominant narrative of the perfect wedding, while still lingering on the beauty of the fantasy itself.

Kristen Bell, Jenna Dewan And More Pose Nude For Allure

Kristen Bell and Jenna Dewan-Tatum aren’t afraid to bare all for Allure’s much-anticipated “Nudes” feature.

Last year, Jennifer Morrison, Naya Rivera, Clare Bowen and Christa Miller stripped down for the magazine, and this year Bell and Dewan are joined by Nia Long and Minnie Driver in the pursuit of nothing but the naked truth.

Both Bell and Dewan-Tatum are new moms who both welcomed daughters in 2013. And though it’s been less than a full year since Dewan, 33, gave birth to Everely in May, she said her husband Channing Tatum was a big supporter of her decision to take it off for Allure.

“Chan was really on board with it— he knows I’m very comfortable in my own skin,” she told the magazine.

Meanwhile, 33-year-old Bell, who is just coming off the enormous success of “Frozen,” told the magazine, “I talk a big game about being comfortable in my skin. I wanted to put my money where my mouth was.”
