Rochas Names Federico Curradi to Head Men’s Fashion

Rochas has named a new creative director for its men’s wear activity, which it put on hold last year after only two seasons.
The Interparfums-owned fashion house said Italian designer Federico Curradi will be charged with bringing “a new attitude” to Rochas men’s wear going forward. The brand is expected to relaunch in January 2019.
“I am sure Rochas can find its own place in the men’s wear industry and Federico has the talent to bring Rochas to a next level,” stated Interparfums Group and Rochas chief executive officer Philippe Benacin.
Curradi, a native of Florence, launched his own men’s wear label, which shows in Milan, in January 2016 at Pitti Uomo. The designer, who lives in the Florentine countryside, is also creative director of outerwear specialist Peuterey. Born in Florence in 1975, after living in New York for several years he moved back to Italy, first working at Ermanno Daelli, then as head of the men’s styling office at Ermanno Scervino and later becoming head of the men’s collection of Roberto Cavalli in 2005. A year later, he began working at Iceberg on the company’s men’s wear as a consultant. He was also Iceberg’s first men’s wear creative director, succeeded by James

Rochas Opens Pop-Up Men’s Store

POP LIFE: With Paris men’s fashion week around the corner, Rochas has opened its first pop-up store dedicated to its fledgling men’s wear line under creative director Beatrice Ferrant.
Located at 420 Rue Saint-Honoré, the minimalist space, with a décor mixing parquet flooring, linear black units and a black marble counter, offers a selection of picks from across the brand’s fall 2017 ready-to-wear and accessories lines. Spanning sweatshirts with craggy textures and crease-free tuxedo pant with elasticated waists, the urban-chic collection is the debut effort under Ferrant, who was tapped by the Inter Parfums-owned house last September to revive its men’s line after a 22-year hiatus.
Along with buzzy men’s wear label OAMC, Rochas in April was elected a full-fledged member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Mode Masculine. The house will present its spring 2018 men’s collection on June 22.

OAMC and Rochas Homme Join France’s Chambre Syndicale

MAN UP: The men’s arm of French fashion’s governing body, the Chambre Syndicale de la Mode Masculine, on Friday announced two new members: OAMC and Rochas.
They were elected full-fledged members of the union by the newly elected management board of the organization, whose full name is Chambre Syndicale du Prêt à Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode, at a general assembly on April 12.
Buzzy men’s wear label OAMC was co-founded by Luke Meier, who earlier this month was appointed co-creative director of Jil Sander, alongside his wife Lucie Meier. Rochas, meanwhile, relaunched men’s wear this January under Béatrice Ferrant after a 22-year hiatus.
The new management board also re-elected Sidney Toledano, chief executive officer of Christian Dior Couture, as president, and Paul Smith’s Isabel Ribeiro as vice president, of the Chambre Syndicale. This will be the final two-year stint in the roles for both executives, since a maximum of two terms is permitted.
The next Paris men’s fashion week is to take place between June 21 and 25.

Rochas Celebrates Its 90th Anniversary

NINETY CANDLES: To help celebrate its 90th anniversary this year, Rochas hosted an exhibition including vintage fashion, fragrance and advertising and a party on Wednesday in its soon-to-be-open new headquarters at 1 Rond-Point du Champs-Élysées in Paris.
“It all goes with the global intention of the brand to really push it forward and to make it much more visible,” said Stéphane Lemonnier, fashion and accessories director at Rochas.
On display were some pieces by Marcel Rochas, the label’s namesake designer, as well as creations by Peter O’Brien, Olivier Theyskens, Marco Zanini and Alessandro Dell’Acqua.
One room specifically devoted to fashion included 28 looks — dresses, pantsuits and even pajamas — shown alongside accessories and perfume. Especially in keeping with the birthday theme were a few pieces bedecked with swallow imagery from Rochas’ fall 2015 show, which marked the label’s 90 years with the print inspired by the house’s 1934 collection.
Lining the walls next door were copies of ads dating back to Rochas’ start. Kicking that off was an image from 1925, a black-and-white drawing depicting the entryway to Rochas’ headquarters framed by two fir trees.
There was also the 1936 campaign for Les Parfums Marcel Rochas framed with a colored rectangle, which originally appeared on
