Julianne Moore, Armie Hammer Attend Salvatore Ferragamo Show

POWER OF TWO: Two Hollywood power couples turned heads at the Salvatore Ferragamo show on Sunday morning: Julianne Moore dressed in red, arm-in-arm with her husband, producer and director Bart Freundlich, and Armie Hammer with his wife Elizabeth Chambers. While Moore was not giving interviews, Hammer said he finished promoting critically acclaimed “Call Me by Your Name,” and hinted at other possible collaboration with director Luca Guadagnino. “We’ve been onto other projects, but I am still happy to have done that,” he said of the Oscar-nominated film. “I’m definitely going to see him while I’m here.” Hammer’s next film, “On The Basis of Sex,” premieres in December and chronicles the life of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Hammer is in town for a few days, and is expected to attend the Green Carpet Fashion Awards at the La Scala theater on Sunday evening, as is Moore. Guests at Ferragamo also included Ellie Bamber, Philippa Coultard and Jeremy Irvine.

How a Young Designer Produces a Fashion Show

While the industry continues to question the importance of New York Fashion Week, Shanel Campbell, a 26-year-old Parsons graduate, believes the platform is still important.
She will embark on her first fashion show on Sept. 5, a little bit ahead of the official start of fashion week, and here she outlines how she’s producing a show and what she hopes to achieve. This is the second story in a series that will follow Campbell as she develops her collection and builds a business. WWD previously spoke to Campbell about what she envisions for her brand after being endorsed by Solange Knowles and Issa Rae.
WWD: What are your plans for fashion week?

Shanel Campbell: It’s going to be a runway show into a presentation and it’s 18 looks. I want it to be very intimate so you can take your time and look at everything. I don’t want too much thrown at people. When you see too much, you start to not care. When I see a huge collection on my phone, I just start swiping and swiping and swiping. It’s going to be really fun. Very informal and more of a community gathering than an uptight fashion show. But the fashion show element

Snapchat Show to Pre-Release Adidas’ Falcon W on Saturday

Snap Inc. and Darkstore are partnering with Adidas to pre-release a new model of the Originals sneaker in “Fashion 5 Ways,” a new Snapchat show debuting this Saturday. The move is the first product launch for the ephemeral social network’s programmatic content.
Inspired by Nineties running shoes, the kicks — Adidas’ Originals Falcon W sneaker — will be featured in the first episode of Thumb Candy Media’s “Fashion 5 Ways,” a series from the creators of one of Snapchat’s most popular shows, “Nail the Look.” The show features women exploring creative ways to wear fashion staples, like sneakers, and the first episode will be available in the app’s Discover page.
In addition, “Fashion 5 Ways’” audience will also be able to buy the shoe right from the show by just swiping up. This is the first time a Snap show has ever offered product purchases, though it’s not the first deal between Snap and a shoe company. The social network had a previous “shoe drop” with Nike in February, but that required a physical presence and Snapcode scanning.
This is the latest move in Snap’s bid to become an e-commerce hub, pushing social commerce via shopping from ads.
As a pre-release, Falcon W will

Disney Villains and The Blonds Join Forces for Runway Show

DISNEY’S MOST WICKED HIT THE RUNWAY: Some of Disney’s most wicked characters will be taking center stage during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 7. Luxury fashion brand The Blonds will present their spring 2019 runway collection at Spring Studios, inspired by several of Disney’s most devilish characters.
The Blonds, cofounded by designer Phillipe Blond and creative director David Blond, will feature looks inspired by Cruella de Vil, Maleficent, Evil Queen, The Queen of Hearts, Dr. Facillier, Ursula and her dark eel minions Flotsam and Jetsam.

The Blonds team up with Disney Villains for its runway show Sept. 7.

“The Disney Villains style is iconic and has inspired us since childhood and throughout our career. The opportunity to collaborate with Disney and see these designs come to life on The Blonds runway is an absolute dream come true,” said Phillipe Blond.
“What drew us to working with Disney Villains are the complex attributes of the characters themselves,” said David Blond. “Often misunderstood, Disney Villains are flawed, imposing and mysterious, and we loved the idea of taking these characteristics and translating them in a glamorous way, making them the heroes of our story.”
Ken Potrock, president, consumer products and commercialization at Disney, said, “Disney Villains have long lived

Agnona Runway Show to Be Included on Official Milan Fashion Week Calendar

OFFICIAL SLOT: Following a few seasons of presentations and intimate shows, Agnona is making its first appearance among the brands listed by the Italian fashion chamber on September’s Milan Fashion Week official schedule, which Camera della Moda is releasing on Friday.
“It’s a formalization of what we have been doing in the next couple of years, since I joined the brand,” said Simon Holloway, which was tapped by the label’s parent Ermenegildo Zegna Group as Agnona creative director in November 2015. “I’m very happy Agnona is finally on the calendar, which is something the brand deserves, being a champion of the most authentic Made in Italy. Milan is such an incredible family of exciting and diverse brands.”
Holloway said the brand, which will show its spring 2019 collection on Sept. 22 at Milan’s Triennale design museum, is not hosting any mega events, instead keeping it small and intimate.
As part of the company’s retail expansion plan, last May Agnona inaugurated its first store in London, on Albemarle Street in the Mayfair neighborhood, and is opening a flagship in Moscow next fall.

Gucci to Show Spring 2019 Collection at Théâtre Le Palace in Paris

PALACE BOUND: Gucci revealed on Monday that its spring 2019 collection will be presented at Théâtre Le Palace in Paris on Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. The Italian fashion house said this is the first time the location will host a runway show.
Le Palace, located at 8 Rue du Faubourg-Montmartre, served for years as a nightclub, drawing members of the fashion and music industries as well as an underground culture.
“The Théâtre Le Palace resonates with the vision of the house as it is a venue that gave life to a (sub)culture that has inspired young generations up until today,” said a statement from Gucci.
This is a one-off show for Gucci in Paris and marks the crescendo of a three-part homage to France conceived by the Italian brand’s creative director, Alessandro Michele.
Gucci began its ode to France starting with its pre-fall advertising campaign, which harks back to that country circa 1968, when student marches and riots sparked popular rebellions against military and bureaucratic elites. Photographed and directed by Glen Luchford, it depicts Gucci-clad rebels occupying a university campus, passionately challenging the establishment and asking for change. Luchford’s black-and-white photos are inspired by the bold French Nouvelle Vague imagery of the late Fifties and Sixties and by radical filmmakers François

Does Zegna, Reliance Investment in Rathore Show New Phase for India Luxury Market?

The investment by Ermenegildo Zegna and Reliance Brands in Indian men’s wear designer Raghavendra Rathore marks a series of firsts for all the companies involved — and could signal a major turning point in global companies’ attitude toward Indian fashion.
The investment is the first in an Indian brand by both Zegna and Reliance, while for Rathore it represents another milestone in his career that could help turn him into a designer name recognized worldwide.
Rathore is well-known in the luxury men’s space in India for his tailoring and interpretation of the traditional men’s formalwear bandhgala, breeches and tapered waist coats — with a focus on both sophistication and style. (A bandhgala, which is said to have originated from Jodhpur, is part of Indian formalwear with its high collar, front buttons, and formfitting style.) Designers — many of whom are strongly independent and resist any steering by investors — are interested to see how the growth of his brand pans out with the new investors.
Rathore currently sells his Jodhpur brand in seven stores in India and also has a lower priced line, Imperial India Company. But it is the luxury aspect that the Zegna-Reliance brands’ investment will fuel, focusing on the fast-growing

Contemporary Artist Pops Up at Fashion Trade Show

BOOZY STATE OF MIND: American painter Laurance Rassin — best known in the art world as an international star whose impressionistic works bring to mind Picasso and Matisse — has a pops gig in addition to his art work and fashion designs.
The artist has reinvented the ice pop via Fruta Pop, which takes out the high fructose corn syrup and adds in fresh fruits and vegetables, while its “poptails” add a small amount — less than 5 percent — of alcohol infusion. Rassin is a cofounder of the company. Flavors available on the company’s site for the 3 oz. pop include nonalcoholic fruit and juice pops, cold-brew coffee pops and the boozy poptails in flavors of Coconut Rosé, Sparkling Prosecco Mango Mimosa, Moscow Mule and Brosé Rosé. The pops can be ordered for delivery anywhere in the world.
On Sunday and Monday, Rassin was holding court at the contemporary fashion trade show Fame at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan with the Fame logo emblazoned on two pop flavors, Watermelon Margarita and Pina Colada. It’s the latest event-branding campaign for the pops. Past campaign clients have included Banana Republic, Two-Faced, Andaz hotel, Warner Bros., Orla Kiely, Project X, French Connection, Bloomingdale’s

EXCLUSIVE: Longchamp to Stage First Fashion Show in New York

PARIS — In one of the latest twists in the trans-Atlantic fashion show shuffle, Longchamp is planning to stage its first official runway show at New York Fashion Week this fall. Known for its best-selling Le Pliage bag, the French leather goods firm has expanded its ready-to-wear offering over recent years as part of its repositioning as a lifestyle brand.
The New York show is scheduled for Sept. 8, with the venue yet to be confirmed. The family-owned brand also plans to stage an event on its home turf at the Opéra Garnier in Paris on Sept. 11.
The NYFW show will cap Longchamp’s 70th anniversary celebrations and a U.S.-centric year for the brand. Building on its ambition to be seen as a fashion brand, Longchamp in May opened its Fifth Avenue flagship with a dedicated space for rtw and shoes in the center of the main floor, and launched a clothing and accessories capsule with Shayne Oliver. Meanwhile, Kendall Jenner, the new brand ambassador, is on board for four seasons, beginning with the fall 2018 campaign.
When asked if the New York show will be a one-off, Sophie Delafontaine, Longchamp’s artistic director, said: “We felt that this was the right time to take things to the next level and

Kevin Hart Dares You ‘Not to Laugh’ Watching His New Obstacle-Course Show TKO: Total Knock Out

Kevin Hart has made a name for himself by making other people laugh, so it’s fitting that the actor and comedian is hosting a show full of laughter.

Hart, 39, takes on the role of emcee for the first time in his career with TKO: Total Knock Out, the new one-hour obstacle course competition series on CBS.

The 10 episodes will feature a contestant racing through difficult obstacles while four other competitors control battle stations along the course with the goal of knocking off the solo runner, who hopes to take home a cash prize.

“First and foremost the host of the show is amazing. So personable, likable, takes any situation and knows how to make the best of it,” Hart jokingly tells PEOPLE about what to expect from TKO.

“Outside of him, expect a lot of fun and funny. I really, really credit the producers for creating a platform where anybody was welcome. This is something where they wanted to give a person who may or may not consider themselves to be an athlete the opportunity at success,” he says.

“By doing an obstacle course and having fun and being able to compete with other people with the same goal and agenda at hand, it makes for great TV. There’s nothing like it on television, it separates itself from other things including the host that elevates it that much more.”

Though Hart explains how the “best thing” about the show is how people take on the obstacle course, ultimately the hilarious failed attempts are what make the series.

“I hate to say it, but watching people fall is funny,” he says. “Falling is funny. You can try not to laugh all you want. You can have a moment to be sincere, but you always turn around and in private you laugh. A fall equals funny, and there’s a lot of falling on this show, so I think we have a lot of funny coming for quite some time.”

Though the inaugural season of TKO features everyday people, Hart would love to see his celebrity friends as contestants, specifically Jumanji costar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

“He would suck. He would suck and not be able to get through the first zone. That’s a 100 percent correct,” Hart says.

Win or lose, Hart emphasizes that TKO is all heart.

“It’s making the people feel like they did not waste their time, showing them that their effort was the most valuable thing that they can ever put on display. And to simply not quit, not give up,” he says. “ leave inspired, they leave like they have a major accomplishment under their belt. Win or lose, they go home with something.”

TKO: Total Knock Out premieres Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.

Dior Moves Spring Show a Day Ahead

EARLY BIRDS: Christian Dior, typically the first big name to open Paris Fashion Week in recent years, has moved its show ahead one day, to Sept. 24, safeguarding that distinction.
The venue and time have yet to be finalized, but it is likely to be in the early afternoon. The Paris shows go through Oct. 2.
Gucci had previously revealed that it would do a one-off showing in Paris on the evening of Sept. 24. The event is to mark the crescendo of a three-part homage to France conceived by the Italian brand’s creative director, Alessandro Michele, who paraded his resort collection in Arles. Gucci began its ode to France starting with its pre-fall advertising campaign, which harks back to that country circa 1968, when student marches and riots sparked popular rebellions against military and bureaucratic elites.
While foregoing a show in Milan for the season, Gucci is planning a special event to be held at its Hub venue on Sept. 19, the second day of Milan Women’s Fashion Week, scheduled to run Sept. 18 to 24.

Amber Heard, Lucy Boynton Attend Valentino Show

SECRET GARDEN: The skies stayed clear for a pre-show cocktail in the garden of the Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild for guests attending the Valentino couture show on Wednesday, as the final show of the week.
Bathed in a golden light, Christian Louboutin caught up with singer Mika, while Italian director Luca Guadagnino played chaperone to actress Alba Rohrwacher.
Guadagnino said he’s hoping to premiere his remake of Dario Argento’s “Suspiria,” which he has almost completed, at the Venice Film Festival at the end of the summer. “Fingers crossed,” said the director, who is also producing a film called “Born to be Murdered.” “It’s a manhunt thriller — I’m going through my dark phase,” he quipped.
Amber Heard had brought her mother, Paige Parsons, along for the event. The pair joined Tracee Ellis Ross on the lawn by a statue of a deer for a glass of champagne.
“I love that they chose to have the reception outside so you get to experience the Parisian summer,” said Heard, who has just wrapped filming Alex Ross Perry’s “Her Smell” in New York. She stars opposite Elisabeth Moss “and a bunch of really great girls.”

EXCLUSIVE: VFiles Announces Runway 10 Show, Mentor Committee for New York Fashion Week

It’s back to the runway for VFiles, which will be holding its 10th show on Sept. 5.
Last season, instead of the traditional runway/performance extravaganza the company hosts, it staged “Be Heart, Make Noise,” an immersive music and fashion event done in collaboration with Adidas Originals. In the past, runway shows included celebrity guest judges such as Khloé Kardashian and Young Thug. For VFiles Runway 10, the brand is bringing its event a bit more down to earth by, for the first time, appointing a committee of eight industry leaders that will select and mentor show contestants throughout their journey to New York Fashion Week. After that, the VFiles team will provide mentorship for the following season. The pivot brings a slightly more serious — yet welcome — tone to the show that has otherwise been high on experimental fashion.
The mentor committee includes: Julie Anne Quay, founder and chief executive officer of VFiles; Laura Brown, editor in chief of InStyle magazine; Rio Uribe, designer and founder of Gypsy Sport; Candy Pratts Price, fashion consultant; Anna Trevelyan, stylist and creative consultant; Erin Magee, founder of MadeMe; Paul Cupo, designer, and James Costas-Michael, merchandise director of VFiles.

The French actor has just wrapped the fourth season of “Outlander,” which is set to debut in the fall. Spoiler alert: “They stay together,” he revealed.
Some may romanticize the bygone era of the series’ setting, but Domboy begs to differ. “It was rough. I think we should be happy to live in today’s era, it’s better,” he said.
Nevertheless, he will be continuing in his role in the hit program, which has been renewed for another two seasons. “It’s great – we’re going to go on and on, and we’re back at it in February,” he said.
Also sitting front row, John Stephen Sudduth, aka Mikky Ekko, was feeling inspired. The recording artist was taking some time out from his hectic touring schedule to check out the Paris men’s shows.

“It’s been such a beautiful week, the weather in Paris has been amazing,” he said. “It was my first time seeing Yohji, and that show was so, so beautiful, it nearly brought me to tears,” he continued.
Ekko has just completed his long-awaited second album, “Fame,” due

Virgil Abloh’s Fans and Family Attend Off-White Show

FAMILY AFFAIR: Virgil Abloh’s nearest and dearest packed into the Off-White show on Wednesday, including his sister and parents, who were taking in their first show by the designer.
“We made it this time — two of them,” said his mother, Eunice Abloh, referring to Abloh’s upcoming debut men’s collection for Louis Vuitton. “We’re so proud. He always knew what he wanted to do, and he did it,” she added, with Abloh’s father, Nee, chipping in: “Very ambitious, very aggressive. He always had a vision.”
Quincy Brown and Christian “King” Combs were also on a twofer track, with plans to attend the Louis Vuitton show on Thursday.
“The words can’t even describe. This is history — history in the making,” said Brown, who stars in an upcoming Christmas film on Netflix.

“I’m glad to be here, black excellence, I’m witnessing history here, it’s a blessing,” he added. Next to him, Combs was wearing an eye-catching shiny, emerald-green coat with matching trousers.
“This is a first — you know, African-American and Louis Vuitton — it’s such history, I have to be there,” said Combs, who just released a new single with Chris Brown called “Love You Better” and appears in

Frankies Bikinis to Launch RTW During L.A. Runway Show

Frankies Bikinis, the Los Angeles-based contemporary swimwear line founded five years ago by then-18-year-old Malibu native Frankie Aiello, is branching out into ready-to-wear. The collection will debut alongside Frankies’ resort 2019 swim collection during a runway show in L.A. on June 21.
Aiello, now 23, said she chose to forgo showing at Miami Swim Week, which she has done for the past four years. “I feel like at this point I could show in Miami with my eyes closed. Now was the time to bring it back to my hometown and do something different,” she said. (Another 18-year-old designer, Gigi Caruso, will make her Miami Swim runway debut this year.)

The designer believes there are few rules to follow in fashion anymore, which is also the idea behind her rtw collection. “I cringe when I hear the words ‘beach cover-up.’ We wanted to detach ourselves from that and create a new era of cover-ups.”
Social media, she said, has enabled customers to reach her directly asking for styling advice on how to wear their swimsuits both on and off the beach.

James Harden, P.J. Tucker Take in Neil Barrett Show

JUMPING IN: James Harden and P.J. Tucker of the Houston Rockets flew into Milan Friday night and turned up the next afternoon in the front row of Neil Barrett’s show at the designer’s headquarters — where they were quickly surrounded by top men’s editors starry-eyed at meeting the sports celebrities and taking selfies with them.

P.J. Tucker and James Harden

Harden is a longtime fan of Barrett’s and wears his designs often — “I have more of his clothes in my closet than I realized,” Harden said, revealing he and Barrett are in talks about a potential collaboration, although he declined to reveal details. During the show he seemed particularly excited by Barrett’s sneaker designs, nudging Tucker several times to point at specific styles.
The basketball superstar said he hoped to spend the next day doing some sightseeing in Milan before he headed to Paris for the men’s shows there. He plans to attend Virgil Abloh’s Off-White show as well as Abloh’s debut as men’s artistic director at “Louis,” i.e., Louis Vuitton. “I’m excited to see that,” Harden said.

The Royal College of Art Pitches a Two-Hour ‘Immersive Experience’ Show

LONDON — The Royal College of Art departed from tradition for this year’s annual fashion show showcasing works from 50 students across men’s wear, women’s wear, footwear and accessories.
Swapping the traditional catwalk for an immersive experience, the event was dubbed “A Walk Without a Cat,” and was filled with dance performances, talks and installations.
The show was held at 180 Strand, home of London Fashion Week, and upon arrival, guests were escorted through revolving doors where they were greeted by women’s wear student Sinéad O’Dwyer’s collection — a group of nude models wearing transparent body-cast molds made from fiberglass.
Guests were directed to the main seating area where they walked past works by accessories student Ramlah Wraich, who presented a collection of body-part embellished clutches, and footwear student Tabitha Ringwood’s twisted leather shoes.
The show started with a musical performance by women’s wear student Thibaut Knapp. Women’s wear student Renata Brenha Ribeiro’s collection, inspired by Latin American food and rituals, followed soon after. Models wore large headpieces that looked like dried chillies with bunched and textured dresses. Guests were presented with trays of mashed-up food that tasted like meat, but servers were unable to identify the exact ingredients.

Project Teams With White Show

Project and the White Show are collaborating.
Project, the U.S.-based trade show, and White, an Italian trade show, are hoping to strengthen participating brands’ presence in new markets. White will host American designers at its trade show, which takes place in Milan during men’s fashion week in January and June. It also operates a women’s trade show during women’s fashion weeks in February and September.
“The collaboration with UBM amplifies the resonance of the White trade show on the American market, which represents an excellent opportunity for our companies,” said Massimiliano Bizzi, White’s president and founder. “White has always been very attentive to international markets, where it’s been present for many years and continues to invest and promote its DNA and its brands exponentially.”
First up is New York-based men’s wear label Abasi Rosborough, which will feature its spring 2019 collection at White Man this month. This is the first time Abasi Rosborough designers Greg Rosborough and Abdul Abasi have personally shown their collection in Milan, although they currently work with Italian stores including PNP Firenze and Dantone Milano.

Central Saint Martins Shows Off Conceptually Charged Designs at BA Fashion Show

LONDON — Central Saint Martins unveiled its annual BA fashion show at the school’s 1Granary campus this week, showcasing works from 41 students. Their designs, ranging from the experimental to the political and conceptual, reflected the breadth of the students’ specializations, including women’s wear, men’s wear, print, fashion design, marketing and knitwear.
Paolina Russo won the L’Oréal Professionnel Young Talent Award. By the time she turned 21, Russo had already been photographed by Kendall Jenner for Love magazine, styled for the band Dream Wife and been named a muse of John Galliano.
The collection was a love letter to Russo’s Canadian hometown, with ensembles drawing heavily from contact sports. She weaved together elbow pads, shin guards and protective gear to create structured outfits, while the final look was a crocheted dress that resembled a soccer ball, albeit a beautiful, wearable one.
The three runners-up included women’s wear student Simon Valer Dacsef, who was also awarded the LVMH Grand Prix scholar prize for his lineup of voluminous flouncy dresses in a sea of bright greens, pinks and blues.
Elsewhere, student René Scheibenbauer’s muted palette radiated peace of mind. Deconstructed tailoring took on soft twisting and draping elements and his black and white palette was punctuated

RISD Apparel Design Seniors Serve Up Fashion Show With a Little Poetry on the Side

Twenty-three Apparel Design seniors at the Rhode Island School of Design showed their collections Saturday in Providence, but for the second consecutive year the event was held on Brown University’s nearby campus.
By welcoming the 600 guests to an afternoon runway show at the George V. Meehan Auditorium, and then an evening one on the nearby Ivy League campus, RISD ensured that every guest had a front row seat. This year’s talent was selected by a jury made up of Laurie Brewer, associate curator of Costumes & Textiles for RISD Museum of Art; Gill Linton, chief executive officer and editor in chief of Byronesque; William Exaros director of visual merchandising for U.S. multibrand retail at Chanel, and Neil Gilks, associate dean of Fashion, Fashion Design at The New School’s Parsons School of Design.
As an added twist, RISD department head of apparel design Lisa Z. Morgan suggested students use creative writing to further explore “the experiential motivations behind their looks,” as they developed their collections. At the beginning of the fall semester, she asked each of this year’s seniors to consider how their collections would smell if it were a perfume or scent. She said, “Writing connected students more deeply to their

Emporio Armani to Host Coed Runway Show in September

MILAN — Emporio Armani is the latest Italian brand to opt for a coed show.
As Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana president Carlo Capasa revealed during a press conference on Thursday presenting the schedule of the upcoming Milan Men’s Fashion Week, the fashion label will skip its traditional men’s fashion show in June to host a coed runway show in September during the city’s Women’s Fashion Week. The coed show won’t take place at Giorgio Armani’s theater on Via Bergognone, as per tradition, but in a still-undisclosed location. That said, the signature Giorgio Armani men’s show will be held on June 18 at the theater.
Separately, Furla said on Thursday it will also stage a coed presentation in September.
While Emporio Armani joins the likes of Gucci and Bottega Veneta, for example, Capasa announced new entries in the June calendar including London-based Besfxxk and Italian label Vìen. Korean fashion house Spyder, French brand Ih Nom Uh Nit and Italian fashion houses Doucal’s and Triple RRR, the line designed by Roberto Cavalli’s son Robert. Diesel Black Gold will not hold a show, but will present its spring collection to retailers, while the second Diesel Red Tag capsule collection will be unveiled on the catwalk. Saint Laurent to Stage Show in New York on June 6

BE A PART OF IT: Having harnessed the power of the Eiffel Tower in his last two women’s ready-to-wear shows, Anthony Vaccarello now has his eye on the Big Apple.
The designer will stage his next show for Saint Laurent in New York City on June 6, according to sources familiar with the label’s plans. Such a move would be a powerful endorsement for New York Fashion Week, which has seen a clutch of designers defect to other locations in recent seasons.
Officials at Saint Laurent declined to comment on the house’s plans.
The New York calendar is in flux, following Alexander Wang’s decision to move his show to June from September. In tandem with Wang’s move, the Council of Fashion Designers of America has put into motion plans for official summer and winter fashion seasons taking place as soon as June and December 2018.
The CFDA’s web site lists June 2 to 6 as the dates for the next New York Fashion Week, to be followed by New York Fashion Week: Men’s from July 8 to 10. It is sticking to its main women’s season from Sept. 5 to 11.
To add to the confusion, May and June is also resort season, with Prada,

Dior to Stage Cruise 2019 Show in Chantilly Stables

SADDLE UP: Dior is staging its cruise 2019 show closer to home than the last edition, which took place in the Santa Monica Mountains. Scheduled for May 25, the event will take place at the Grandes Écuries of the Domaine de Chantilly, near Paris.
A symbol of French prestige and art de vivre, the historic stables — which are the largest in Europe — were constructed in the 18th century for the seventh Prince de Condé, Louis-Henri de Bourbon.
The city of Chantilly has long-standing ties with Dior, from the founding couturier’s first creations to those of his successors, Yves Saint Laurent and Marc Bohan. Various designs for the house over the years have carried or evoked its name and prestige, starting with Christian Dior’s second collection, for fall 1947, which featured an evening dress baptized at Chantilly.
While Dior journeyed to the sweeping Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve in Calabasas, Calif., for the staging of its Cruise 2018 show — marking the first big destination event for artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri — the setting of the house’s next display promises to be more about time travel. And possibly an equestrian theme.

Cirque du Soleil Aerialist Who Died During Show Shared Heartfelt Message Before Fatal Performance

Just before Cirque du Soleil aerialist Yann Arnaud took to the stage in what would be his final performance this weekend, the married father shared a heartfelt Instagram post about the difficult stunt that would lead to his death.

“After so much work and training and staging, our straps duo act is finally in the show tonight,” he wrote alongside a black and white shot of himself practicing the stunt. “It’s time to go for it.”

During the Saturday performance in Tampa, Florida, Arnaud lost his grip on an aerial ring and plunged some 20 feet to the stage just before 10 p.m., according to the Tampa Bay Times. He was rushed to a local hospital where he died early Sunday. In a statement, Cirque du Soleil officials called the incident a “tragic accident,” and noted that Arnaud had been with the organization for more than 15 years.

Arnaud performed the straps act along with fellow aerialist Pawel Walczewski. Walczewski, too, posted about the difficult number on Instagram, writing, “After a long road ready to perform tonight a straps act with @yannarnophoto.”

Arnaud leaves behind a wife and two young daughters. Along with photos of his performances, Arnaud’s social media accounts are filled with shots of his wife Inna Gorelova, their 2-year-old Lilia and Arnaud’s older daughter. In one shot, Arnaud is shown tossing Lilia into the air; in the post he called her is “little acrobat.”

A September Instagram video shared by Gorelova showed Lilia playing with a plush duck. Arnaud couldn’t help but gush about his daughter in the comment section, writing, “My little princess growing so fast😘💖.”

In the wake of his death, Arnaud’s friends and fellow performers have mourned his passing in a series of social media messages. In a Facebook post on Sunday, Erica Madrid recalled working with Arnaud, calling him a “strong role model for many.”

“My heart aches for you, those who were around you and close to you, and most of all for your loving, beautiful family, so I feel the need to say something,” Madrid wrote.

“You were such a respectable, hard-working, talented individual. I am honored to have worked with you from when we were first beginning training to figuring out the name of the show and eventually to its premiere.”

Performer Simon Ata shared a pair of Facebook photos that featured Arnaud, describing him as “An amazing friend, performer, photographer and human being.”

On Monday, another friend wrote in another post that Gorelova and Lilia were Arnaud’s “world.”

“The world has lost an amazing artist, father, and husband,” the user, Joanna Borres, wrote. “In such shock over this devastating news. I’m grateful for having the opportunity to work you.”

Oops! Sonja Morgan Suffers Wardrobe Malfunction During Luann de Lesseps’ Cabaret Show

Sonja Morgan gave the audience at New York City venue Feinstein’s/54 Below an extra show on Thursday night, when she suffered a wardrobe malfunction during her high-energy performance.

The Real Housewives of New York City star, 54, had joined fellow New York City Housewife Luann de Lesseps on stage for her #CountessAndFriends cabaret program, collaborating on de Lesseps’ tune “Money Can’t Buy You Class.”

It was a highlight of de Lesseps’ two-hour show:  The crowd quickly jumping to their feet when Morgan emerged from the audience in a halter-top, red silk wrap dress (which she had also worn during a Valentine’s Day trip to Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen).

But toward the end of the song — as fellow Housewives Bethenny Frankel, Ramona Singer, Carole Radziwill, Dorinda Medley and Tinsley Mortimer sang and clapped along — Mogan’s dress unwrapped, exposing her backside to the packed house.

Ever the professional, Morgan didn’t miss a beat in her performance. She powered through, still singing while turning to get an audience member’s help tying her dress back up before finally securing it herself.

RELATED: Luann de Lesseps Declares ‘Not Drinking Is Exhausting’ & Jokes About Arrest During Cabaret Debut

Morgan’s slip was the only hiccup of the night, which opened with de Lesspes singing The Beatles’ 1967 hit “With a Little Help from My Friends” before transitioning into songs like “Almost Like Being in Love” and “L.O.V.E.”

The show, directed by Ben Rimalower and Billy Stritch, also included performances by Tony winner Laura BenantiSaturday Night Live star Rachel Dratch, Patti Cake$ ‘s Bridget Everett, the Scissor Sisters singer Jake Shears and Broadway stars Tony Yazbeck, Andrew Keenan-Bolger and Natalie Joy Johnson.

De Lesspes first performed the #CountessAndFriends show in February. She will return to Feinstien’s/54 Below with the program and a slew of special guests later this spring.

RELATED VIDEO: Bethenny Frankel Talks ‘Real Housewives’ and Luann De Lesseps Returning After Arrest

It’s been a tough few months for de Lesseps, who was arrested in Palm Beach, Florida, on Christmas Eve and charged with disorderly intoxication, battery on an officer/firefighter/EMT, resisting arrest with violence and threatening a public servant. (She’s since pleaded not guilty to the charges, with a hearing set for April).

The mother of two married ex-husband Tom D’Agostino in Palm Beach last New Year’s Eve before their divorce seven months later. Following her Dec. 24 arrest, the reality star checked herself into an alcohol treatment facility.

“Obviously it was a really bad night for me and something I am not proud of,” de Lesseps told The New York Times in February about the incident.

“I’m trying to keep it light while also taking it seriously,” she added about the cabaret show. “The important thing is to not take yourself so damn seriously. I always think, ‘I can survive this if I keep on moving.’ ”

The Real Housewives of New York City’s 10th anniversary season premieres April 4 (9 p.m. ET) on Bravo.

Alice Taglioni, Anthony Delon Attend Elie Saab’s Fall 2018 Show

SIBLING SCENE: He may be focused on peddling high end biker jackets these days, but Anthony Delon turned out to check out the ball gowns at Elie Saab. Sitting next to his sister Anouchka Delon, he wore a perfecto from his new line, one of the hand-scratched models.
The pair weren’t the only non-regulars in the front row — Alice Taglioni, too, is not often on the runway scene.
“It’s my first fashion show in a long time,” she said. She was on the lookout for potential red-carpet attire; the actress has been working on a movie directed by Julie Bertuccellli, playing Catherine Deneuve in her thirties.
The contingency of regulars included Anna Dello Russo, covered in black feathers to the tip of her hat, and Lena Perminova, on her fourth show.

Shailene Woodley Attends Salvatore Ferragamo Show

A PERFECT STORM: A few weeks after the announcement that the second season of “Big Little Lies” was definitely happening —and the ensuing media frenzy — Shailene Woodley confessed she “didn’t think anyone had expectations” about the series.
“There were no plans to do a second season, but the audience that watched the first begged for a second one,” she said ahead of the Salvatore Ferragamo show.

Flanked by Danai Gurira, Virginia Gardner and Jack Lowden, Woodley said she was still awed by filming “Adrift,” due out this summer.  It’s based on the true story of Tami Oldham, played by Woodley, and Richard Sharp, played by Sam Claflin, of “surviving in a class-five hurricane with little food for 43 days,” said the actress.

“It was amazing, we filmed around Fiji–the elements, the nature… it was a profound experience and if I think that we were only pretending but someone actually did it, it was really inspiring.” To be true to the part, Woodley also had to lose weight, but she was game. “It was only for a short period of time,” she said with a smile.

Gucci Teases Fall Show With Ticking Invitation

GUCCI’S COUNTDOWN: As if anyone in the fashion industry could forget, Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele’s surprising invitation to the brand’s fall 2018 show on Feb. 21 is an orange timer with red digital numbers that count down to the event, sealed in a Ziploc bag. On one side, the timer warns “Parental Advisory, Explicit Content.”

On the other side, it provides details of the show, to be held at 3 p.m. at Gucci’s headquarters in Milan. As with past Gucci invitations, the designer’s lucky number — 25 — appears on the bag.

The underlying message is a mystery and the fashion house is mum on show details.
Michele is known for unique and unusual invitations. A year ago, it was hard to miss — and easy to collect: A 33-rpm vinyl record. On side A, Florence Welch read from “Songs of Innocence and Experience” by William Blake. On side B, A$ AP Rocky read “A Love Letter From Frederick Wentworth to Anne Elliot” from “Persuasion” by Jane Austen. Burberry Hosts a Bevy of Stars for Bailey’s Farewell Show

CHECKING OUT: Saturday night’s Burberry show was nothing short of a Christopher Bailey love-in, with staffers getting teary eyed and celebrity guests gushing about the designer who’s leaving after nearly two decades at the brand.
“Of course I’m here to support him — he’s been so generous to me, dressing me for years for different events,” said the actor Idris Elba. Naomi Watts said she wanted to be there because “I like Christopher – he’s a really lovely person to spend time with.”
More than 1,300 guests attended the show including Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Keira Knightley, Michelle Dockery, Naomie Harris, Iris Law, Lily James, Jourdan Dunn, Kate Mara, Chelsea Clinton, Paloma Faith, Liam Gallagher, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Daphne Guinness and Stephen Jones.
When they weren’t gushing about Bailey, they were talking about their projects for the stage and screen.
Miller said she’s still recovering from the West End run of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” and is about to promote “The Burning Woman,” an American drama in which she plays a woman named Deb. “But I don’t set myself on fire and the film is not related in any way to Burning Man (festival),” she said.

University Of Westminster Stages BA Show

The University of Westminster showcased 11 Bachelor of Arts graduates whose fashions spanned from boudoir prettiness and disco glamour to Victorian drama.
Suzi Lee’s collection stood out with her confident use of color – royal blue, burgundy, orange, black, white and blush shades – for shapes including extreme gathered pants that could have looked clownish if not for the sporty, safety-clip buckles and the topper: a fluid bomber jacket.
Lingerie and corsetry details were elegantly deployed by Catriona Wilson, who used layers and layers of delicate chiffon, silk and tulle in a line-up of pretty dresses and one lovely coat comprised of multiple layers of sheer fabrics.
Also impressive was Lauren Audrey’s collection that channeled all the glamour of Studio 54 via silver over-the-knee-boots, a pleated cheerleader skirt in pink lamé and a bedazzled cropped satin varsity jacket.
The padded looks in Joshua Crabtree’s men’s wear collection were well executed, with hooded jackets and capes puffed out in nylon, and rubberized cotton used in a great overcoat and a jacket with military pockets.
William Dill-Russell experimented with proportion, using Victorian details and fabrics, like stiff taffeta and brocades, to amp up bustles, sleeves and frock coats.
Holly Priestly demonstrated a sophisticated use of texture and color

Norma Kamali Talks 50th Anniversary Event, Sirius Radio Show and Health-Inspired Line

FAST FORWARD: While a 50-year anniversary usually calls for some reminiscing, Norma Kamali wants no part of it.
Looking back is counter to the designer’s way of being. “I really hate it,” she said.
Despite that tendency, Kamali has culled 70-plus clothing pieces and accessories for What Goes Around Comes Around and she “appreciates that there is interest in her previous designs.” Her fashion past, so to speak, will be showcased Tuesday in the “Vintage for the Future” event at the WGACA SoHo store and online. Kamali isn’t the only one celebrating an anniversary, the retailer is nearing its 25th year and is eyeing a Madison Avenue location.
WGACA cofounder Gerard Malone said he first met Kamali 10 years ago, and the pair stayed in touch. He thought what better time than fashion week to hold a launch party. Shoppers will find fringed eveningwear, bomber jackets, crop tops and other items mostly in the $ 750 to $ 3,500 retail price range. Kamali was hesitant to pick favorites. “I remember them being favorites, when I made them, and what the creative process was,” she explained. “But even now when I finish collections, I’m separated from it and I’m not connected to it anymore. Kenneth Ning Produces Film, Look Book Instead of Show

Add Kenneth Ning to the list of designers who have eschewed runway shows this season.
The New York-based designer, who launched his collection in 2015, has partnered with multimedia artist Patrick Welde and art director Anthony Stephinson to showcase his fall collection.
Ning handed over his completed line to the two men, and they returned “The Twisted System,” a look book and short film that was shot over several days in Paris.
“It was time for me to take a new presentation direction with my collection,” said Ning. “The influencer has grown to huge importance with retailers and consumers. Patrick has a great eye and the past client experience I am looking for in shaping my brand to a more international retailer and consumer.”
Ning’s fall collection blends streetwear and tailoring with pieces that provide what he described as “a twisted dream state,” consisting of  unusual proportions and fabrics that range from flannel tartans to plaids.
Welde is part of the growing Parisian avant-garde scene and has worked with brands and publications including Balenciaga and Antidote Magazine.

Boucheron Opens Vendôrama Show With Evening Event

MINGLING AT THE MINT: Guests at Boucheron’s interactive Vendôrama anniversary exhibit began their journey at the back door of the 18th-century Hôtel de la Monnaie. Who would guess that it would open on to a graffitied tunnel?
The uninitiated might be forgiven for missing the references in the tags: 1858 — that would be the year the house founder Frédéric Boucheron opened his first store — and Quatre for the jewelry line launched in 2004.
Inside a temporary exhibit space sitting in the courtyard, visitors were served up a mix of screens, live actors, and jewelry displays, set amidst rich green foliage including ivy — a traditional inspiration for the house. Even the guidebook was interactive, with pages folding out to reveal details of the jewelry on display.
“There’s a rock ‘n roll feel to it that I like,” said Charlotte Rampling, noting the unexpected presentation style, as the lighting on a collection of Quatre rings suddenly switched off behind her, making them disappear for a spell.
On one wall, guests could snap metal beads onto a giant replica of the asymmetrical Question Mark necklace—and have their photo taken there — while a display of Serpent Bohème necklaces jutted out of a tall, red lacquered

Victoria Beckham Gears Up for 10-Year Anniversary, Plans London Show

LONDON — Victoria Beckham plans to mark her decade in business with a series of events, including a 10th anniversary fashion show during London Fashion Week in September.
The big year will start with a change to the way Beckham shows her collections. The company said fall will be showcased via “intimate presentations” at the James Burden Mansion on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, recalling the early appointments Beckham held in New York for the then-fledgling business.
The show will take place during London Fashion Week in September, which runs from the 14th to the 18th of the month. The company said it plans to mark the anniversary with other initiatives throughout the year, including special pieces and activations.
The 10-year anniversary comes just months after Victoria Beckham Ltd. brought in NEO Investment Partners, a private investment firm based in London, as a new shareholder.
The 30 million pound investment from NEO has been earmarked to enhance the brand’s digital and physical retail presence, drive growth in core categories and launch into new categories and collaborations. The company also plans to move to new west London premises in the spring.

Aaron Levant Retires From the Trade Show Business

Aaron Levant is ready for a new challenge. Levant, who founded the Agenda trade show when he was 19, is retiring from the business.
“There wasn’t an exit plan. It wasn’t something that I’ve contemplated for a long time. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for the past two or three months,” said Levant as he was arriving at the final Agenda Long Beach trade show that he will manage in California. “For me, it’s all about continuing to learn new stuff and take on new challenges, and as far as events and trade shows, I’ve learned everything that I can.”
Levant started Agenda, which is dedicated to the skate, surf and streetwear categories, in the back of a Thai restaurant in Long Beach in 2003. In 2013, Reed Exhibitions acquired the show for an undisclosed sum and Levant stayed on to help grow Agenda, oversee other shows and launch new ones.
For the past few years, Levant, who has said he believes the trade show category is dead, has transitioned Agenda from a business-to-business show to a more consumer-facing event. Andrea Crews to Stage Fashion Show Process As Performance

PERFORMANCE: Andrea Crews founder Maroussia Rebecq is taking the concept of backstage access to new heights. The Paris-based designer, who launched her label in 2002 as an art project geared around upcycling vintage garments, plans to stage the preparations for her fall 2018 co-ed show as a performance, titled “How to Make a Great Fashion Show.”
From today through Jan. 17, Rebecq, along with the members of her collective, will hold castings and fittings, shoot the brand’s look book and hold the final hair and makeup tests in the Le Cœur gallery in Paris’ Marais district. The actual show will be held on Jan. 20 during Paris Men’s Collections, with the location yet to be confirmed.
“This period, from now through to the show, is a very intense period where we’re building the story of our collection. This year we wanted to make an event out of it,” said Rebecq. “It will also allow for some distance from what I do. Preparing for a show can be both a highly stressful and beautiful experience, and for me gathering everyone together in a performance will make it more of a joyful, playful event.”

Bye Bye, Brit: Inside the Final Show of Britney Spears’ 4-Year Las Vegas Residency

After four years as one of the top acts on one of the world’s most famous streets, Britney Spears has wrapped her residency show on the legendary Las Vegas Strip.

“It’s bittersweet,” she said on Instagram before the last performance.

The pop star initially launched her “Britney: Piece of Me” show at Planet Hollywood in December 2013. Originally slated for a two-year run, the pop extravaganza was extended for two more years after the show sold out time and time again.

In capping off her final show on New Year’s Eve, Spears did what she’s done for four years: She delivered her hits. For about 100 minutes, Spears was nonstop, dancing around the stage seductively when she wasn’t backstage for one of her many costume changes.

“It’s almost f—ing New Years! Who’s going to get naughty tonight,” she asked the audience full of diehard fans at 11 p.m., many of whom wore shirts bearing her face.

The “Womanizer” singer came out to “Work Bitch” in knee-high boots and a cleavage-baring black lingerie bodysuit. Later, in one of the highlights of the night, she showed off her midriff while riding an oversized guitar like a mechanical bull. As Spears has done since day one, she brought out a guest from the audience during “Freak Show.” She dressed the man, named Casey, in S&M gear and playfully forced him crawl on the ground while she lightly spanked him with a whip.

“Four years, who knew,” Spears said as she left the stage for the last time. However, there is a real possibility that Spears could be returning to the desert again. As her final show grew near, chatter in entertainment circles suggested that Spears would eventually sign on for another Las Vegas residency in the near future.

Spears’ show helped usher in a new era for Las Vegas in regards to residency acts. The city was once known as a place for older artists to live out their glory years. Thanks in part to Spears, Vegas reinvented itself as a place to see top younger artists, including Jennifer Lopez, Backstreet Boys, Bruno Mars, all of whom currently have residency shows. Lady Gaga announced that she, too, will begin a Vegas residency in late 2018.

Moncler to Hold Coed Show in Milan on Feb. 20

A NEW BEGINNING: Moncler will hold a show combining men’s and women’s wear on the evening of February 20 in Milan, kicking off Women’s Fashion Week, scheduled to run Feb. 21-27. The evening event will unveil what the company dubbed the Moncler Genius Building, “a material and symbolic hub representative of the new course of the brand,” to reach out directly to the public in a unique and creative way. Further details were not available at press time. The event is organized in collaboration with Italy’s fashion association Camera Nazionale della Moda.
As reported, Moncler chiarman and chief executive officer Remo Ruffini is masterminding a new strategy to present the brand’s collections, ending the Gamme Bleu and Gamme Rouge lines.
The last Gamme Bleu and Gamme Rouge collections, designed by Thom Browne and Giambattista Valli, respectively, were presented for the spring 2018 season.
“Every company must innovate and it’s a choice shared 100 percent with the designers,” Ruffini told WWD in November.  “I need to create a new project that will bring new energy to Moncler. It was a very difficult decision, stemming from the need to evolve, to create a solution that would naturally create a new and alternative project to one

Brioni to Show in Paris in January

MILAN – Brioni’s first collection by new creative director Nina-Maria Nitsche will be presented in Paris on January 20 during the city’s Men’s Fashion Week. This will not be a runway show but a presentation.
Nitsche was appointed to the role at the storied Italian men’s wear wear company in June, succeeding Justin O’Shea, who was pushed out after only a six-month stint. The brand is now helmed by former Agent Provocateur chief executive officer Fabrizio Malverdi, who joined Brioni in April, charged with accelerating the international expansion of the elite Italian tailor following a period of turmoil. He succeeded Gianluca Flore.
Before Brioni, Nitsche had joined Vetements in September 2016 but left when the company relocated to Zurich from Paris earlier this year. She was previously a veteran at Maison Martin Margiela, which she joined in 1989, working closely with the founding designer for 23 years. After Margiela’s  resignation, in 2009, Nitsche took over the creative direction of the brand.
O’Shea staged his first and only collection for Brioni in Paris during Haute Couture Week in July 2016. Under previous creative director Brendan Mullane, Brioni had shown in Milan, both through the runway and presentation formats. Mullane, who reported to then-ceo Francesco Pesci,  helped

J.W. Anderson Nixes London Men’s Show to Pursue Coed Model

HIS AND HERS: The coed juggernaut keeps gathering steam.
One of London’s most anticipated men’s shows, J.W. Anderson, will vacate that calendar from January and shift to a coed display timed with the British capital’s fashion week for women in February.
The fall 2018 collections are to be paraded jointly on Feb. 17, and the London-based brand will stage two shows a year and not four.
In the past month alone, Balenciaga and Salvatore Ferragamo are among brands shifting to a combined women’s and men’s format from next season.
Etro, Dsquared2, Calvin Klein, Burberry, Kenzo, Moschino, Vivienne Westwood, Tom Ford and Cédric Charlier are among others to have already jumped on the bandwagon.
Generally, having one display instead of two per season allows brands to reduce costs, while presenting a cohesive fashion message that works for many labels in an increasingly gender-blurry world — and one increasingly thin on men’s fashion publications.
Prized for his fast-paced shows and daring designs, Anderson was recently honored by the British Fashion Council as British Designer of the Year for Women’s Wear for his J.W. Anderson collection and Accessories Designer of the Year for Loewe during a gala event at Royal Albert Hall.

According to a statement from Ferragamo, the decision to unify the two runway shows “reflects the strategy of the brand aimed at harmonizing the men’s and women’s collections in a market which requires a stronger and defined positioning with precise stylistic codes.”

Cultural Queries Abound at Victoria’s Secret Shanghai Show

SHANGHAI – While Victoria’s Secret’s first ever taping of its annual fashion show in China may have been intended to evince a cultural awareness, its many production problems in a foreign location and the inclusion of a Native American-style headdress yet again on its runway in some ways drove home the opposite message.
The show had several firsts. It saw Victoria’s Secret’s first designer collaboration: 20 impressive punk-rocker looks designed by Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing opened the show with Harry Styles, giving the hyper-feminine production some edge. It also included a last: Alessandra Ambrosio, who has been with Victoria’s Secret since 1999, had her final turn as an Angel.

As noteworthy as those moments were, it was hard to compete with the tumble that Ming Xi took on the runway as Miguel sang “Winter Song,” much less the ballyhoo over eleventh-hour visa denials – Katy Perry reportedly over her perceived support for Taiwanese sovereignty, Gigi Hadid due to a racially-charged gesture, in addition to four other models.
After attracting criticism last year for a dragon outfit, Victoria’s Secret opted for a

Prince Albert’s Toddler Twins Steal the Show at Monaco’s National Day Ceremony

Monaco’s littlest royals, 2-year-old twins Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, joined their parents Prince Albert and Princess Charlene to celebrate National Day on Sunday, appearing twice to the joy of the gathered crowd.

Jacques’ blond head was visible just above the balustrade as the windows opened amid the ceremony. Beside him, his sister Princess Gabriella danced to the military band, occasionally throwing kisses and waving to the crowd.

While Prince Albert took salutes in the palace forecourt below from the carabineri — Monaco’s soldiers, celebrating their 200th anniversary — Princess Charlene doted on Jacques, primping his new haircut.

Princess Charlene was dressed for the occasion in a deep blue coat with a wide-brimmed hat, while her mini-me Gabriella sported a dress decorated in flowers.

When Prince Albert joined his family in the balcony window, he lifted Gabriella up into his arms while Princess Charlene held Jacques.

The children then disappeared from the window and the period military cortege passed by.

After the ceremonies ended, the crowd below waved flags and banners and cheered “Hip hip hoorary” to call for the royal family to return for another appearance. Prince Albert and a smiling Princess Charlene returned to wave to the crowd.

When a call went up imploring “les enfants” come back to the window, Albert put his hands to the side of his head in mime, indicating the children had gone for a nap.

The twins will celebrate their third birthday next month, on December 10th.
