Carole Radziwill Says She Walked Away from Something That Went Against Her Values After RHONY Exit

Carole Radziwill is asking fans what they would do if they were in her shoes.

On Friday, just days after announcing her departure from the Real Housewives of New York, the reality star polled her Instagram followers to see whether they would follow their hearts or put their bank accounts first.

In an Instagram Story, Radziwill, 54, posed a question to her fans, “If you were doing something that was forcing you to do things that went against your own value system would you walk away regardless of the pay? Its a tough decision.”

After fans overwhelming voted “yes” on her survey, the journalist wrote, “So 80% would walk away from something that went against their own values.”

It was a decision, she told fans, that she was forced to make recently.

“That’s how I felt this past year too. It’s difficult but life is long and you can’t always play the short game,” the star added.

It appears she is very happy with that decision, as the best-selling author was beaming in the photograph.

The smiling star looked chic but casual in a pair of ripped jeans and a white T-shirt as she soaked in some sun during her vacation in Aspen, Colorado.

“I am sure this does not come as a surprise to any of the viewers, all of whom have been supportive, encouraging, and kind. My original curiosity about reality television has waned over the years and I am focusing on TV and writing projects that better suit my more steady temperament,” Radziwill told PEOPLE in a statement on Wednesday.

PEOPLE learned that her ongoing feud with Bethenny Frankel also influenced her choice, as indicated by the portion of her statement in which she said she was “thrilled to leave frenemies behind.”

“They never seemed to be able to reconcile. The show couldn’t go on another season with both of them at each other’s throats. And Bethenny’s an OG. She’s been there since the beginning. She’s a , but she gives the show a lot of energy,” a source tells PEOPLE. “There’s no way they’re going to do it without her. Last time she left, the show went to hell.”

However, one production source insists that as far as producers are concerned, Radziwill could have chosen to stay: “She was not pushed to leave. She left on her own accord.”

She ended her statement with sincerity and wit. “I have worked with amazing producers, made great friends, and I’m thrilled to leave frenemies behind,” Radziwill wrote. “I will remember this entire experience with delight, humor, and a veracious accuracy. Next.”

In RHONY‘s tenth season, airing now, Radziwill has had a pretty epic fallout with Frankel, though she’s still friendly with Tinsley Mortimer, Ramona Singer, Dorinda Medley, Sonja Morgan and Luann de Lesseps.

On Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen Wednesday, Ramona Singer told Cohen she’s “sad” to see Radziwill go.

“I love Carole inside and out. I think she’s really warm, special, down to earth, truthful, giving, kind, supportive of women, genuine, smart fabulous. I’m like, ‘Wow.’ I’m going to miss not being with her doing the next season. It’s going to be a void,” Singer said, shaking her head. “This is going to be a void for me,” Singer added.

Ryan Adams Gives Us Something Good With ‘Prisoner’ Tour

Signs warning against the use of flash photography were plastered on almost every door at the Beacon Theatre Tuesday night, as Ryan Adams was set to take the stage for his first New York City show on his extensive Prisoner tour.

Adams has Meniere’s disease, an inner ear disorder that can cause a range of symptoms including vertigo, nausea and hearing loss. Flashing lights lead the singer to experience imbalance and can perhaps cause seizures, so a tour manager once again reminded the sold-out crowd to turn off their cameras’ flashes before his set began.

Not only did this make Adams’ experience better, it changed the entire vibe of the show for the audience ― in the best way possible.

The stage was decorated with old-school TV monitors of all sizes, huge Fender speakers and stuffed tigers. A Tiffany-style lamp sat near the piano with a coat rack close by. The mood was intimate, as Adams would sing some of the more somber songs off his new album “Prisoner,” a combination of “breakup” tunes which he says are associated with the end of his marriage to Mandy Moore and the desire to move on.

The audience stood and cheered while he opened the night with his rock ballad “Do You Still Love Me?” There were no flashes, no cameras in your face. Adams’ fans were actually taking in the moment rather than documenting every second of it ― a welcome change in the current tech-crazy world we live in.

‪SET LIST. NYC. The Greatest City in the World. ‬ ‪@BeaconTheatre Night 1 ‬

A post shared by Ryan Adams (@misterryanadams) on

The rest of the show was equally as personal, with people singing along to the lyrics of “To Be Young (Is to Be Sad, Is to Be High),” “Gimme Something Good,” and “New York, New York,” which Adams performed solo with a guitar and harmonica. (Lots of girls, and guys for that matter, “woo’d.” And “ooh’d” and “ahh’d.”)

Adams has a way of hooking you in while barely speaking. He’s not the type of artist who’s going to talk to the crowd after every single song, cracking jokes while explaining why or how he wrote something like “Come Pick Me Up.” Yes, he throws out some one-liners here and there ― and introduces his backing band in an entertaining bit ― but clearly it’s all about the music, atmosphere and set list for him.

Although Tuesday night didn’t include a performance of any of his “1989” covers ― “Welcome To New York” would’ve been a nice addition, no? ― or his gloomy radio single “To Be Without You,” the artist made sure to give his NYC fans what they wanted: pure Ryan Adams, lyrical storytelling through that rugged, emotive voice.

Amen, man.

These Super Bloom Engagement Pics Look Like Something Out Of A Dream

Love is in full bloom for Mary Costa and Mike Marsoupian.

On March 11, the Los Angeles couple headed to Walker Canyon in Lake Elsinore, California for an engagement photo shoot among the now-Insta famous “super bloom” ― an explosion of wildflowers thanks to an especially rainy winter in Southern California.

The fields of vibrant California poppies were the perfect springtime backdrop for the photo shoot, which was shot by photographer Alyssa Marie and first featured on Green Wedding Shoes

“The super bloom was truly magical,” Mary told HuffPost. “It looked like the Wizard of Oz, and we couldn’t get over the colors! It almost looked like a fake backdrop, it was so perfect.”

Mary and Mike had been dreaming of a wildflower location for their engagement photos, but couldn’t find anything that was in bloom for months. Then the couple’s florist Angelena Moio of Shindig Chic told them about the super bloom in Lake Elsinore.

“Mike and I loved the idea of being surrounded by the poppy ― the California state flower ― especially since he’s originally from Michigan and I’m from New Hampshire. It was perfectly symbolic of our home [together] here,” she said.

The super bloom craze on social media brought many people to Lake Elsinore, making the location very crowded when the couple arrived for their shoot.

“Thankfully our incredible photographer got to the location extra early and discovered that we could avoid everyone and still see gorgeous poppies if we hiked far into the trail ― so that’s what we did!” Mary said.

The pair ― who are tying the knot on June 2 in Camarillo, California ― first met in April 2013 when mutual friends took Mary, who is also a professional photographer, to see Mike’s band perform in Silver Lake. A few months later, their paths crossed again at a friend’s birthday party where they really hit it off.

“We went on our first date a few days later and have been inseparable ever since!” Mary told HuffPost. “Mike eventually admitted that he stalked my photo blog for over a year before that first meeting, which I found incredibly endearing.”

Pamela Anderson’s Look Is Missing Something

Pamela Anderson has successfully scaled her makeup routine way, way back. Perhaps she’s trying to pare down her wardrobe, too?

The former “Baywatch” star was spotted in London Thursday wearing what appears to be a black sweater, camel overcoat and tights, which she rocked as pants with admirable confidence.

Anderson was photographed visiting WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy. That’s a curious habit on its own, but we’re also mildly confused by the outfit itself. Primarily, though, we’re just in awe of anyone who can rock tights  ― an article of clothing that gives us so much grief ― with such ease.

Photographer Steven Klein Shoots 2017 ‘Commit to Something’ Equinox Campaign

Equinox wants you to commit to more than just walking through its doors in the new year. The high-end fitness club has been known to take an edgy approach to its advertising imagery, and 2017 is no different — its newest campaign, a continuation of last year’s “Commit to Something” series shot by fashion photographer Steven Klein was just released.
At first glance, the seven images have little to do with working out. Imagery includes model Jessica Stam sitting inside a cannabis grow center, a man lounging with a virtual reality headset over his eyes, a pit of concertgoers all fixated on their iPhones and a shirtless man covered in a swarm of bees. Thinking about your next personal training sesh yet?
“It’s certainly no secret that Steven [Klein] is a fearless creative with a strong point of view on social issues, so it was a no-brainer to continue telling the commitment narrative through his powerful lens,” said Elizabeth Nolan, Equinox Executive Creative Director. “This year’s imagery goes even deeper to showcase his greatest strengths as a storyteller, collaborator and cultural steward.”
Klein approached the campaign as a commentary on personal identity and the activities which consume people’s hours. “It is examining the physical body

Carrie Fisher Wanted Her ‘Fantastic Obit’ To Read Something Like This

Many touching obituaries have been written in the wake of Carrie Fisher’s death on Tuesday.

Yet, none are quite like the one the witty 60-year-old author once wrote for herself.

In Fisher’s 2008 memoir Wishful Drinking, which she also adapted into a one-woman show, the actress describes an exchange she had with “Star Wars” creator George Lucas about her iconic Princess Leia costume. She writes:

“George comes up to me the first day of filming and he takes one look at the dress and says, ‘You can’t wear a bra under that dress.’ So I say, ‘Okay, I’ll bite. Why?’ And he says, ‘Because … there’s no underwear in space.’ I promise you this is true, and he says it with such conviction too! Like he had been to space and looked around and he didn’t see any bras or panties or briefs anywhere.”

Lucas, who deemed gold bikinis A-OK in outer space, later explained to Fisher the logic behind his no-bras-in-other-galaxies rule, which she also describes in the book:

“What happens is you go to space and you become weightless. So far so good, right? But then your body expands??? But your bra doesn’t — so you get strangled by your own bra.”

She then reveals how she would like her “fantastic obit” to read:

“Now I think that this would make for a fantastic obit — so I tell my younger friends that no matter how I go, I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra.

And Fisher fans on Twitter certainly obeyed:

And, at The Huffington Post, we’re honoring that too, Carrie. Rest in peace.

Lady Gaga Tweeted Something Nice To Madonna And Fans Are Freaking Out

On this day, Lady Gaga said let there be peace, and so there was.

After years of being pitted against each other in a music industry that seems to only have room for one unapologetic pop diva at a time, Gaga has finally extended an olive branch to Madonna.

Last week, Madge was rightfully honored at the annual Billboard Women in Music ceremony as Woman of the Year. She delivered perhaps the most important speech of her career about the rampant misogyny and sexism she’s faced since becoming famous. She also opened up being raped as a teenager on a rooftop in New York City.

On Monday, Gaga, who has bravely shared her own story of sexual assault, publicly thanked Madonna for her inspiring words on social media with a tweet that cut straight through their rumored feud.

“Your speech at the Billboard Music Awards was inspiring,” she wrote. “You’re so brave & strong. Thanks for being that for us girls we need that.”

Earlier this year, Gaga gave the warring fandoms some fodder by drawing a stark contrast between herself and Madonna when it comes to musicality. She also called her a “nice lady,” which is essentially the shadiest thing you could ever dream of saying to Madonna.

“I don’t mean to disrespect Madonna … she’s a nice lady,” Gaga said on Apple Music’s “Beats 1” radio show in October. “And she’s had a fantastic, huge career. She’s the biggest pop star of all time. But I play a lot of instruments. I write all my own music. I spend hours and hours a day in the studio. I’m a producer. I’m a writer. What I do is different.”

But it seems like the shared experience of enduring an endless tirade of abuse and objectification as female artists has allowed the two to put aside their differences and hopefully unite once and for all.

“I stand before you as a doormat. Oh, I mean, as a female entertainer,” Madonna said during her speech, according to Billboard. “Thank you for acknowledging my ability to continue my career for 34 years in the face of blatant sexism and misogyny and constant bullying and relentless abuse.”

Fans of both Gaga and Madonna appropriately lost their minds on social media, expressing their sincere relief that the great diva wars have finally come to a close.

Now go forth, be free and listen to “Born This Way” and “Express Yourself” without feeling the need to comment on how similar the choruses sound.

Independent Spirit Award Nominee Andrea Suarez Paz: “I Hope to Play Something Impossible”

2014-12-22-AndreaBWNEW.png
Actress Andrea Suarez Paz. Pic: Andrea Suarez Paz

Currently, up-and-coming actress Andrea Suarez Paz takes on the role of an immigrant mother in New York City, whose autistic son, marvelously depicted by Jesus Sanchez-Velez, wonders off into the baffling depths of the city’s subway system — a means of transportation that in so many ways resembles the complexities this metropolis throws at her patient residents. The New York Times calls Sam Fleischner’s tranquil account Stand Clear of The Closing Doors, a “small miracle of a film.” Suarez Paz was recently nominated for the much-sought after Independent Spirit Award for best supporting female, alongside Jessica Chastain, Emma Stone, Patricia Arquette and Carmen Ejogo. In an interview she reveals passions and insights.

What was your first reaction to the nomination for the Independent Spirit Award and how are you feeling now?

I was shocked and ecstatic! I found out about a minute before my four year old son got off the school bus, and it was hilarious trying to explain to him why I was jumping up and down. I now feel a really luxurious sense of relief that my work actually translated, that it was felt by the audience.

2014-12-22-AndreaMoviePic.png

While acting, you have a very strong presence, on stage as well as now in your first feature. Where is that place of strength within yourself you seem to draw from?

Actually, I always try to remain conscious of the tools I have at hand: breath, body, voice — and I just incorporate them as I perform a particular story, or lines. I strive to be purely honest and I think there’s a lot of power that comes with that.

Why did you come to New York City to pursue this career? Had you also considered alternative places, as well?

I am really bad at alternatives. I get confused picturing all kinds of different scenarios. So I decided on New York City, because I was young and I fell for the mystique of Scorsese and De Niro, acting conservatories, the grime, the subway and the streets of New York. I was feeling empowered when I made the decision to make a radical change and move to New York City, without having any money or knowing anybody out here. That was over ten years ago and these have been some of the hardest, most grueling years of my life.

What drew you to your part in “Stand Clear of the Closing Doors”?

Everything. It was a movie about being lost in New York City. The child is lost, the mother is lost and the vastness of the city is the backdrop of their drifting. You see the subway and the beach and they are both limbs of the same monster and it just made me wonder, what the hell is this merciless, amazing universe of a city? Where you are afraid to be found, even if nobody sees you? What would it be like for me to lose my precious child and to have to keep my cool, because my only chance of ever touching him again, relied in me not being deported? Not calling attention? Parts like these are an actor’s blessing!

How was working with director Sam Fleischner and what particular qualities does a good director have, in your opinion?

I think the quality I identify with the most when it comes to working in a team, is flexibility. In my opinion, a great director has a nice balance of a well set vision and the willingness to have that vision molded and changed by circumstances, the environment, other people’s input, etc. Sam actually taught me that. He made me realize how nurturing an attitude of flexibility is and how expanding. This also permeates into every cell of the process.

Who would you like to work with next and what type of character would you like to play?

It’s hard to say. I hope to be able to play something really multilayered, something impossible, that’s what I always wish for.

What part of the experiences as a mother in real life were you able to integrate in your part?

Well, I am a relatively new mom, but I remember when Sam and I started talking about the character and how he wanted to keep her very naturalistic and internal and sort of calculating. I thought, “Sure! That sounds very interesting, no problem,” and my son was about 9 months at the time. Then the film was postponed for a year for a few reasons and I was kind of bummed and he said to me that this time would be important, because I would have more experience as a mother. I thought, “a mother is a mother.” I didn’t think there’d be much difference. The months passed and I had been thinking about my character and how I would want to do things, considering she had to act so thoughtfully, so not from her gut, because she has so much at stake and she wants and has to keep it all together and I was having fun just making random cerebral choices here and there. In the meantime, my son had gotten better at walking, and one day while shopping at the supermarket, I suddenly lost him. Immediately my mouth went dry and my heart started pounding in my throat. It was a matter of seconds before I was screaming his name down the aisles and saying, “Please help, lock the doors, call the manager,” to other customers. I found him smelling coffee a few yards and I thought, “Oh, keeping it in is going to be harder than I thought.” Subsequently, I used that a lot, that having to quiet myself down, because that was my only option and what worked best, in order to find my son.

What type of preparation do you undertake to get into character?

I usually read the script many times and make many notes and then I spend my time ridding those notes of what comes from my own opinion rather than the character’s according to the story. That’s the hardest part, usually, letting go of my judgment. I try to work hard on staying true to the story and away from “what I would do.” It’s not what I would do it’s what this person is actually doing. That helps me free myself up.

In the film, your son Ricky is suffering from autism. What did you know about Asperger’s/autism beforehand?

I knew nothing about Autism or Asperger’s when I started the process. I read a lot of books in the subject, all varying widely in information. Nobody really knows what Autism is exactly or what to do about it in order to get the best outcomes as the child grows. I learned that no two brains are alike, autistic or otherwise, so in my research I found all kinds of stories and realized that even though every parent’s journey is different and personal, there is that common ground of not knowing how your child will develop. That is very stressful and it can, and usually does completely take over your life.

How do you feel are Latin American/Hispanic actresses represented in Hollywood these days? What are the perks, what are the obstacles?

I see mostly a lot of typecasting but I also see a lot of change happening and a lot of opportunity being shaped up. There are actresses doing a fine job of the sexy Latina stereotype and stuff like that but there are also women willing to push those boundaries and present the wider spectrum of what a Hispanic woman is, or are simply saying, “I am a woman with life experiences, I’ve lived a life that involves everything,” or you know, many of us are New Yorkers whether by birth or by transplant. We live in a city full of people from every corner of the world and we share the same experience of living, struggling and falling in love in the city, or whatever. I try not to see my ethnicity as an obstacle and I hope I can find empowering roles to play, just as many others like me. I think we have a good thing going and I’m willing to keep searching for those roles.

Kid President And Grover Remind Us We’re All Good People Who Have Something To Give

Kid President, with the help of his furry blue friend Grover, is here to give you and everyone you know a rousing pep talk about how we all can make a positive impact in the lives of others.

“Helping the people around you … It’s easier than you think,” the duo said in a video posted on SoulPancake’s YouTube channel on Oct. 10. “You don’t have to have all the answers; you don’t have to be super strong. You just got to show up … You’re never too small, or too blue and furry, to make a big difference.”

Kid President, also known as 10-year-old Robby Novak, and Sesame Street’s Grover are raising awareness about Socktober, an initiative that encourages everyone — adults and kids alike — to collect and distribute socks (and other basic essentials) to the estimated 600,000 people who are homeless in the United States.

“Together, we can change everything,” Grover says in the video, later quipping, “People who make the world better for other people are some of the best people.”

Plus, changing the world is a lot more fun with friends.
