Bergdorf Goodman to Unfurl ‘Designers Off Duty,’ Showcasing Hidden Talents

Next week, Bergdorf Goodman will launch “Designers Off Duty,” a monthly series that will showcase the hidden talents and hobbies of such designers as Phillip Lim, Jason Wu, Sander Lak of Sies Marjan, Adam Lippes, Wes Gordon of Carolina Herrera, and Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia of Oscar de la Renta.
Lim will kick off the series Monday night with a cooking class for VIP customers and friends, featuring recipes from his recently launched cookbook, “More Than Our Bellies.” Guests will be invited to an intimate dinner at the Bergdorf Goodman restaurant where recipes from Lim’s cookbook will be served. There is no charge to participate and it’s open to a mix of VIP customers, friends of the brand and media.
“We have had a long partnership with BG, they have been supporting the brand for over a decade, and I am excited for the opportunity to share a more personal side of myself with my cookbook,” said Lim. “‘More Than Our Bellies,’ is a vehicle — much like my clothes — to continue to express love.” Lim said he’s eager to outfit his customers with clothes for the day and nurture them with food for the evening “as it is all

Les Copains, Istituto Marangoni Team on Talents’ Project

A DREAM COMES TRUE: Italian brand Les Copains is gearing up to team with Istituto Marangoni fashion school to promote the creativity of young talents with a project named “Weaving a Dream.”
Students from the school’s master class in fashion design, based in Milan, will be asked to develop a capsule collection for spring 2019.
Each student will conceive a 10-item special collection with the support of Les Copains’ creative team. A mood board, color and fabric palettes, as well as sketches and technical drawings for the collection, will help the aspiring designers present their concept.
While the partnership between the Italian firm and the fashion school is still being developed, it is understood that a committee of judges, including representatives for the brand and for Istituto Marangoni, will select the best lineup.
Les Copains will produce and distribute the winning collection, which will also have a dedicated display inside selected flagship stores of the brand.

Milan Puts Spotlight on Young Talents

YOUNG GUNS: Milan’s Palazzo Morando on Wednesday evening was lit up for two back-to-back events hinging on fashion’s generation next: “Empower Talents 3,” hosted by Vogue Italia editor in chief Franca Sozzani and Kering chairman and ceo François-Henri Pinault, a project that offers internships at the luxury brands that are part of the French group in Italy; and the “Who is On Next? and Vogue Talents” happening, also hosted by Sozzani.
“It’s always beautiful to channel the energy of youth and work with new talents,” said Carlo Capasa, president of the Italian chamber of fashion.
“I came earlier to Milan to check out the new designers,” said Laudomia Pucci. “It’s our duty not only to find them but to help them.” How did she feel about the debut show of Massimo Giorgetti at the helm of Emilio Pucci on Thursday? “Very confident,” she grinned.
Salvatore Ferragamo’s Massimiliano Giornetti was taking a break from putting the finishing touches to his collection, to be shown on Sunday.
“It’s all ready and done,” countered Anna Molinari about her own lineup. Giambattista Valli, Lapo Elkann, siblings Alberta and Massimo Ferretti, Moncler’s Remo Ruffini, Sara Battaglia, and Elena Ghisellini also attended.
