Justin Theroux Is ‘Doing His Thing’ Since Jennifer Aniston Split: Inside His Single Life

Justin Theroux is settling into his life as a newly single man.

The actor, 46, has been sticking to his normal routine since announcing his split from Jennifer Aniston last month.

“He’s just doing his thing,” a source tells PEOPLE. “He eats at the same time, goes to the same places, hangs with the same people.”

Since the split, the actor has been spending most of his time in New York City, where he is surrounded by a close-knit group of friends including restauranteur Carlos Quirarte and Amy Sedaris.

According to E! News, Theroux recently hosted a small dinner party in N.Y.C. for Quirarte. The restaurant owner is known for his NYC-based host-spot The Smile, which Theroux frequently visits.

Earlier this month, Theroux was spotted on a solo outing, attending a Paris fashion week show.

The actor has also recently signed on to star in Justine Bateman’s upcoming directorial debut Violet. Theroux will play a mischevious voice inside the head of a film executive.

Meanwhile, Aniston has been “staying busy” since the split, a source previously told PEOPLE.

The actress, 49, headed out for Molly McNearney‘s 40th birthday party on March 11, where she posed with her pals — including the birthday girl, Tobey Maguire‘s estranged wife Jen Meyer, Jason Bateman‘s wife Amanda Aanka and her manager Aleen Keshishian — in a photo booth.

On Feb. 15, Aniston, 49, and Theroux announced that they had split after two and a half years of marriage — and seven years as a couple.

“In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation,” the former couple said in a joint statement. “This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.”

As reported by PEOPLE, the pair’s different lifestyles — and long separations — played a role in the couple’s decision to end their marriage.

“During his relationship with Jen, Justin’s life in N.Y.C. was always very different from his L.A. life,” an Aniston source previously told PEOPLE.

Jennifer Aniston Turns 49! Inside Her Married Life with Justin Theroux

Jennifer Aniston sure does have a lot of reasons to celebrate.

The actress rings in her 49th birthday on Sunday, just days ahead of celebrating Valentine’s Day with husband Justin Theroux.

The occasion marks another busy year for the couple — Aniston recently signed on with Reese Witherspoon for a new Apple TV series, while Theroux filmed the comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me in Budapest.

“They have figured out a life that works for them,” a source previously told PEOPLE of the couple that married in 2015. “Jennifer’s life with Justin is great.”

A second source said the distance helps them appreciate the time they do have together even more.

“This has not hurt their marriage at all, it seems to help,” an entertainment source previously told PEOPLE. “They love and respect each other and do spend a lot of time apart. For them, it is a healthy part of their romance.”

Added the first source: “By not spending every minute together, it’s like their honeymoon is lasting longer.”

But when they aren’t working, Aniston and Theroux, 46, enjoy a quiet life at the Los Angeles home, which they designed together.

“There was a time when I thought there was something romantic about picking up and trotting off somewhere different every three months. Now I’m becoming more particular about the projects I take,” Aniston told Architectural Digest. “I look around at my husband and my dogs and our home, and there’s nowhere else I want to be.”

Jimmy Kimmel And Jennifer Aniston Team Up To Prank Justin Theroux

There’s criminally underrated TV, and then there’s HBO’s “The Leftovers.”

The apocalyptic drama starring Justin Theroux is currently in its third and final season, and despite never being recognized at the major awards shows, it delivers Emmy-worthy moments every week.

Apparently, it’s also Jimmy Kimmel’s favorite TV show, and one he’d like to see honored at the television awards ceremony in September. When Theroux stopped by “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Tuesday, the late-night host showed his appreciation with a good, old-fashioned pranking. And he didn’t do it alone.

As he told Theroux on set, Kimmel commandeered the keys to the actor’s car with the help of his wife, Jennifer Aniston, while Theroux was in Texas for a friend’s bachelor party. Before the actor left on vacation, he received a recall notice for his vehicle, which was actually just the first step in Kimmel’s plan to essentially “pimp” Theroux’s ride, “Leftovers” style, just as Emmys campaigns are kicking into high gear.

“I know you’re nervous, but I don’t want you to be nervous,” Kimmel began, “because this is going to be funny.”

”There was nothing wrong with the car,” the host revealed. “While you were gone, we got the keys to your car. It was not being repaired. There’s nothing wrong with the drive shaft. What we did was — because I feel like HBO could be doing a better job of promoting this for you — we had some experts adorn your car in a way that I think is going to bring you a lot of attention.”

While the actor was out of town, Kimmel hired a crew to cover the car in various cheesy campaign slogans like “For Your Theroux Consideration” and “Justin Time for the Emmy Nominations” alongside embarrassing photos of Theroux from the show. Nothing compares however to the hood, which features a shirtless paparazzi shot of the actor with the words “I’d Eat These Leftovers” painted across it.

Kimmel explained how his “Leftovers” enthusiasm built over time. “I would say the first season of the show was a good show. The second season, it became a great show. And now in the third season, it’s an unbelievably great show,” he told Theroux. “I want to help with this, because I feel like it’s just one of these shows that people need to catch up to — start and watch and enjoy the whole thing.”

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux Bring their Laid-back California Style to the Streets of Paris

In many ways, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are the quintessentially cool Californian couple. She has her effortlessly tousled and endlessly aped locks, perennially perfect golden tan, and deep and abiding passion for paddle boarding; he channels all of the bad boy charm and understated acting chops of James Dean with a collection of motorcycle jackets to prove it. And this week the pair are proving that California is more than just a state, it’s a state of mind, taking their particular bohemian joie de vivre to the chic streets of Paris.

The couple have been on a stylish tour of the City of Light all week, making one high fashion pitstop after the next, including an appearance at the exclusive Louis Vuitton dinner in honor of the brand’s latest handbag collaboration with artist Jeff Koons. But on Wednesday night they changed up the pace a bit, forsaking glamorous gatherings in favor of a quiet date night in the neighborhood of the Louvre, dining at wine bar Verjus.

For their evening out, Jennifer and Justin took a break from the matchy-matchy style streak they’ve been having. The actress gave a slight twist on her typical collection of all-black dresses, mixing it up with a low-key maxi dress featuring a smattering of pink flowers all over, a knotted halter neckline, a low back, and a classy touch of exposed sideboob. Her husband, on the other hand, stayed true to his foolproof “winter from the waist down” fashion formula in a leather jacket, black t-shirt, and faded black jeans.

One other way Theroux switched things up? Rather than post a schmoopy Instagram with his girl as he had done several days prior, he posted a shot of the “Eifellas” (himself and The Leftovers creator Damon Lindelof) in front of the famed Paris landmark. But of course in Paris, there’s plenty of love to go around.
