We Found Tinder Jesus And He’s Not The Player He’s Made Out To Be

A man known only as “Tinder Jesus” has a message he wants to deliver to the world: he’s no prayer player.

“I’ve gone out with five women [since joining Tinder about a month ago],” he told The Huffington Post. “They expected me to be a player, but I’m not. I’d like to find the right woman, but I’m casting a wide net.”

Tinder Jesus has become the lord of the internet thanks to a hilarious profile pic that shows him, among other things, turning water into wine.

His story went viral when Twitter users began sharing their direct messages with him.

As you might suspect, Tinder Jesus is not the actually the one who appears in the New Testament. It’s the pseudonym of a 21-year-old college student in Lafayette, Louisiana. (He asked that HuffPost not publish his real name so as not to ruin the joke.)

“Everyone has been telling me I look like Jesus, so it was natural,” Tinder Jesus said. “At first, I was getting a match every five swipes, but now it’s every other swipe.”

And each one of his five dates had a request: “Every one of them specifically asked me not to dress up as Jesus. I would if someone wanted it.”

Tinder Jesus describes himself as “very Catholic” and admits he had a crisis of faith over whether he should be using his resemblance to the King of Kings in order to hook up with a hottie.

“I questioned it a little bit, but it’s not meant to be insensitive,” he said. “I never claimed to be Jesus.”

Tinder Jesus also says he doesn’t have a type.

“Jesus loves everybody,” he said. “But I’d like someone who is good at philosophical conversations. My best date was with a woman who was throwing puns back at me in character. That was the highlight.”

He’s still getting used to the fame he’s earned from his photos and isn’t sure what the future holds. He’s trying to keep a clear head out of respect to his family.

“Mom’s not too happy,” Tinder Jesus said. “I mean, she’s afraid I’ll get hurt.”

That’s probably how Mary felt.

The Shocking Truth About Tinder; It’s More Than Just a Hook-Up App!

Have you heard the news? Tinder is causing a ‘Dating Apocalypse.’ That’s right, this simple dating app is causing changes in human mating and dating behavior, the likes of which we’ve never seen before… that is, if you agree with the September Vanity Fair article by Nancy Jo Sales, “Tinder and the Dawn of the ‘Dating Apocalypse.” Not convinced? Browse over to the R.I. Health Department and read their conclusion that Tinder is one cause of the nation-wide rise in STDs. That’s one powerful app, right? Could it be true? Has Tinder forever changed the way people date?

What is Tinder and Why has it become the Focus of Debate?

Tinder is a free, location-based mobile dating app that simplifies the process most dating websites require. You simply download the app to your smart phone, link to your Facebook account, choose up to six photos of yourself, and write a brief bio. That’s it!

Then the game begins. The app shows you photos of singles based on your preferences. You swipe left if you don’t like them and swipe right if you do. If someone you like also swiped right on your photo, the app immediately informs you, “It’s a Match!” and urges you to begin chatting. Beware: Tinder is addictive. But, is it just a hook-up app for the ‘hit-it-and-quit-it’ culture, or is it something more?

The Appeal

If you’ve familiar with online dating, you may wonder what the appeal is, and how you can find someone worth your time given what little information the app gives and requires. But that’s what makes Tinder great. The app is simple, easy on the eye and feels like a game. The objective? To find matches and start conversations. And when you are matched, starting conversations is easier. After all, you know your match is also interested.

Tinder is more efficient because it doesn’t require answering a long series of questions to find the best matches for you. It’s a matter of choosing whether to swipe left or right. Sounds too simple, right? Well, not exactly. The decision-making process involved in using Tinder is both rational and emotional. You’ll rationalize your swiping decision based on age, distance and a short bio (if included). But let’s be honest, it’s all about the photos. Swiping left or right depends on how attractive you find a candidate, and that’s pure emotion.

Tinder Is Only for Hook-Ups.

If you believe the hype and speak to the wrong people, you’ll be convinced that Tinder is just another hook up app. But, dismissing this app would be a mistake, and I can give you 50 million reasons in 196 countries worldwide to convince you. Yes, Tinder is popular and widespread.

Over the past few months, I’ve used Tinder Plus (premium subscription / worldwide) to “informally research” Tinder users (women and men) across a wide age-range (25-50) all over the world. And No, I did not create fake profiles.

What I found? Almost 60 percent of all women who wrote a narrative in their profile included a reference to NOT wanting a hook-up. Here are examples copied from Tinder profiles in the United States:

Not looking for a hook-up, but thanks for the thought . . . Makes me feel all warm ‘n fuzzy, LOL.

NOT HERE FOR A HOOK-UP. KEEP YOUR STDs TO YOURSELF!

Looking 4 a match, not a F*** B****!

Hook-ups, please swipe left. XOXO

So, people are aware of Tinder’s “hook-up” reputation, yet they are still willing to try the application hoping to connect with someone who is also looking for a serious relationship. Are these women hiding their true intentions about hooking-up? I think not.

Can Tinder Lead to a Long-Term Relationship?

There’s plenty of discussion about the “seriousness” of mobile dating apps. In fact, many find them superficial because of how simple they are. Perhaps this adds to the app’s allure and charm. Whatever the case, Tinder is popular and has brought online dating to the masses. People who have considered online dating desperate find it much easier to download the simple app, link to Facebook and swipe away.

Indeed, there are plenty of twenty-somethings who are on Tinder for a quick hook-up. And, if you use it, you’ll probably find a match who swiped right to convince you to hook up with them. But you’ll find just as many interesting, attractive and successful people who are only interested in a committed relationship.

Afraid of matching and chatting with a married person? Yes, unfortunately it happens on Tinder! Oh, but wait, it also happens in bars, restaurants, at speed dating events, and through matchmaking services. It happens in life!

Does Tinder make hooking-up and casual sex easier? Yes, if you’re looking for it. But it makes finding meaningful relationships easier as well. What happens after you’re matched, depends on you and your partner. Trust your instincts and make sure your partner is on the same page. If someone makes you uncomfortable, un-match them, report the issue and move on.

Today’s technology, connectivity and innovative applications make connecting with and meeting new friends easy. But at the end of the day, you’re still the one who decides who you find attractive and with whom you want to spend your time. Tinder is just a tool — a portal to connect and introduce you to others. But it’s the biggest and baddest on the playground. And if you’re in the game, don’t you want to play with the best? Tinder is simple, quick, fun and free — and everyone seems to be doing it. If you’re single and looking, keep an open mind and check it out. You might be pleasantly surprised.

This Is What Happens When Presidential Candidates Tinder With America

Let’s make sure we swipe right on the best candidate for the job.

When you think about it, the dynamic between a president and their country is a pretty serious four to eight-year relationship. And America can’t afford to hook up with just anyone. It doesn’t work out well. Sure, Tinder is a visual game, but once somebody swipes right on you, that’s when the test really begins.

So let’s combine the two grossest things in modern America, Tinder and politics, and imagine exactly what kind of conversation the presidential candidates would have with the nation once they got to the swipe right stage of the process.

Mystery Date and Tinder Swipes

Circa 1970s, one of my favorite board games was the 1965 edition of Mystery Date. The object of the Milton Bradley game was to collect three matching cards to form an appropriate outfit, giving the player the chance to open the white plastic door to reveal one of six possible dates. If your outfit didn’t match the date, you closed the door and waited till the next turn.

Marketed to girls 6 to 14, the 1965 game featured a formal date in a white dinner jacket; a geeky bowler in black glasses; a preppy beach date in flip flops; a suave skier; and… the dud, a dangerous looking dude with a five o’clock shadow, sloppy work pants and a smirk — to be avoided at all cost.

The game lost its novelty after a few times so I’d resort to ditching the cards in favor of opening the door over and over, trying to figure out how to get the door to catch a certain way to ensure the handsome guy in the dinner jacket.

Fast forward post-Millennium, dating has become an online version of the popular childhood game. When we swipe left or right on Tinder and other sites, we’re essentially opening that white plastic door with hope we’ll find the guy (or girl) who matches your outfit or lifestyle.

We’ve bypassed the collecting of cards or getting to know the other as we would if we had met at a party or at the Whole Foods takeout counter. In rare instances, there’s a profile to go along with the shirtless photo or posed pic in front of the Eiffel Tower. More times than not, we swipe solely dependent on appearance or image.

When “there’s no one new around you,” we need to change up the parameters — or the equivalent of trying to rig the door.

And of course, there’s also the possible scenario where you show up in a prom dress (or at least a dress and heels) and your date shows up dressed for the beach — or worse yet, the dud!

Counting Crows Frontman Adam Duritz Explains Why No One Can Find Him On Tinder

Single ladies, take note: Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz is on the market, and he’s on Tinder.

You can follow in the footsteps of former Duritz love interests such as Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Emmy Rossum by simply downloading the dating app, which the musician recently joined. After tweeting a screenshot of his profile, he explained to HuffPost Live why he isn’t ashamed to use the popular dating service.

“Everybody is on Tinder,” he told host Ricky Camilleri. “My married friends are on Tinder. Seriously, there is nobody who is not on Tinder at this point. It’s a video game. My married publicist who told me not to go on Tinder is on Tinder, and so is her husband.”

Duritz is surprised that people even came across his profile to begin with.

“I don’t think most people would even have me on their [age] range. Most people my age aren’t on [Tinder],” the 50-year-old said. “They don’t even know how to use a phone.”

The singer seemed less surprised, however, at the fact that he was still single.

“You muddle through and you crash into a wall,” he said, referring to the relationship trajectory he finds himself frequently succumbing to. “I blame myself because it’s my fault. … I’m crazy, and I write a lot of songs about that particular wall. I don’t know why more people haven’t picked up on it.”
