Melania Trump Plans Return to the White House After Nonstop, Stylish State Visit Throughout Asia

BEHIND THE SEAMS: On the road since Sunday, First Lady Melania Trump will be heading back to the Beltway after numerous official stops in Asia that has highlighted her international style and original brand of diplomacy.
Following what is expected to be a morning arrival at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska, the First Lady plans to participate in a Month of Military celebration. Afterwards, she is expected to return to Washington, D.C., while the President continues his trip to Vietnam and the Philippines in keeping with their plans. Nearly 10 months into the Trump administration, the First Lady has proved to be a goodwill ambassador of sorts especially overseas.
Knowing the inevitable who-is-she-wearing question would punctuate every photo-op, the First Lady gave a lot of thought to each of the 18 pieces she wore with the help of designer and stylist Hervé Pierre. Although he designed the leather pencil skirt she paired with a boldly striped and belted Fendi coat when Air Force One touched down in Tokyo, Pierre pulled together an assortment of designer labels. The former creative director at Carolina Herrera has become a confidante of Trump’s.

Three Bronx Bombers! Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez Visit Aaron Judge at Yankee Stadium

Jennifer Lopez is back in the Bronx — and this time, she’s got one of the neighborhood’s biggest stars with her!

The “Jenny from the Block” singer and boyfriend/former Yankee Alex Rodriguez made a trip to New York City’s Yankee Stadium on Friday, where the Bronx Bombers played the Milwaukee Brewers.

While the Yankees lost the game 9-4, J-Rod were still all smiles as they smiled alongside Yankee outfielder Aaron Judge, 25, in a photo shared to Lopez’s Instagram page.

Nautrally, Lopez looked fly — pairing a faded ripped jeans with a light blue double-breasted blazer and white tank. The 47-year-old accessorized her look with hoop earrings and a bold ring, while wearing her hair pulled back.

Rodriguez, 41, wore khaki pants a blue button-down shirt — rocking a pair of dark shades. Judge kept the Yankees’ signature pinstripe uniform pants and navy cap on, with a baseball T-shirt on.

Friday was a big day for Lopez, as her new song, “Ni Tú Ni Yo,” dropped on Spotify.

She celebrated the summer jam release by snapping pictures of a billboard advertising the song by New York’s Penn Station.

“Ni Tú Ni Yo” — which translates into “Not You, Not Me” — is the second single off of Lopez’s highly anticipated second Spanish language album, due out this fall. She performed her first single “Mirate” at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in April.

“The song is really about when love takes you by surprise — ‘Ni Tú Ni Yo,’ ‘Not You, Not Me’ really expected this to happen, you know?” she told Extra. “That’s what it’s about, it’s one of those things that when love comes, it just comes, it doesn’t announce itself, and then it just takes over — ha! — you know what I mean? That’s what the song is about, which is why I love it so much.”

Could it be about her sizzling romance with boyfriend Alex Rodriguez? That’s what fans are guessing. After all, the couple have been hot and heavy since they started dating in March — going on vacations together, walking the red carpet hand-in-hand, and even gushing about one another in the press.

“Jennifer is still on cloud nine. She has never seemed happier and loves sharing her life with Alex,” a Lopez source told PEOPLE. “He often gives her gifts with handwritten notes. It’s a very romantic relationship.”

And there’s no jealousy there either, with Rodriguez supporting Lopez’s work with ex-husband Marc Anthony on her Spanish album. “Alex admires and supports how hard she works,” an insider told PEOPLE. “They share this amazing respect for each other.”

Brad Pitt Celebrated an Early Father’s Day with a Visit From His Kids

Brad Pitt‘s Father’s Day gift came a little early this year.

The actor celebrated the special occasion with his kids on Saturday. Several of the children were seen being dropped off at Pitt’s Los Angeles house in the morning.

The kids spent time with their father before heading to the airport with their mother Angelina Jolie. Pitt was also seen at the airport before flying to France.

Pitt previously opened up about how he’s moving forward since announcing the end of his 12-year relationship and two-year marriage with Jolie. The War Machine actor said he’s been spending his time “keeping the ship afloat” and “figuring out the new configuration of our family” these days.

“Kids are everything,” he said, of his six children — Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 8. “Kids are your life. They’re taking all the focus, as they should anyway.”

Meanwhile, Jolie has been finishing up post-production on First They Killed My Father, a drama due on Netflix this fall about the Khmer Rouge genocide in Cambodia.

The Funniest Moment From Trump’s Pope Visit You Didn’t See

Can someone give Donald Trump a hand?

Not applause. Can someone give him any tiny hand to hold?

Given all the attention paid to video clips of Melania Trump swatting away her husband’s attempts at hand-holding, it seems that President Trump is losing the popular vote at home, too.

Enter: the Pope.

The recent viral photo of a very unimpressed-looking Pope Francis standing alongside Trump seemed like just another PR headache for POTUS. Now, Jimmy Kimmel has revealed it’s even worse than you thought.

Kimmel spent a long segment on Wednesday making fun of Trump’s visit with the Pope. At one point he rolled a clip, saying, “Professional issues aside, on a personal level meeting the Pope was a big deal for Donald Trump, and we’ve seen how things have been going between him and Melania lately, so when Trump reached out, I know he had to be disappointed …”

”The Pope wouldn’t hold his hand, either,” said Kimmel. “Poor guy. He just wants to be loved. He just wants to be touched. That’s all.”

It’s clearly doctored footage, but wow. You gotta hand it to Kimmel.

Gisele Posts Anti-Trump Tweet On Day Of Patriots’ White House Visit

One hundred and forty characters can say 1,000 words.

On the day of the New England Patriots’ White House visit to celebrate their Super Bowl win, Gisele decided to post a message that made her political stance quite clear.

In a since-deleted tweet, Gisele ― who is an avid environmentalist ― shared a link to the Peoples Climate Movement’s upcoming April 29 protest in Washington, D.C., against the Trump administration’s climate policies, the Washington Post and other outlets reported.

Gisele’s quarterback husband, Tom Brady, skipped the White House trip Wednesday due to “personal family matters.”

For months, there has been ongoing debate over Brady’s support for and friendship with Trump. The two have known each other for years, and the POTUS claimed to have the football star’s vote in the 2016 election.

“Tom Brady, great guy, great friend of mine, great, great champion, unbelievable winner,” Trump said at a November rally. “He called today and he said, ‘Donald, I support you, you’re my friend, and I voted for you.’”

However, when her Instagram followers asked about it, Gisele shot down the claims. And she also apparently told her beau to stop talking politics in public

“I talked to my wife, and she said I can’t talk about politics anymore,” Brady said in November. “I think that’s a good decision, maybe for our family.”

This is not the first time Gisele has used social media to push against ongoing issues under the Trump administration. Back in February, she shared a message promoting diversity during the immigration debate.

The Quiet, Exquisite Intensity of ‘The Band’s Visit’

2016-12-28-1482945229-1374926-TheBandsVisit.jpg

By Christopher Caggiano, ZEALnyc Contributing Writer, January 2, 2016

There’s been some chatter online and in theatrical circles as to whether The Band’s Visit, the intensely real and intimate new musical currently playing Off Broadway at the Linda Gross Theater at the Atlantic Theater Company, is actually a musical. Does it have enough songs? Are the songs sufficiently musical theater-like? Or is it really a play with music?

My response to such questions is usually: Who cares? Is it any good?

And The Band’s Visit is good. It’s more than good. It’s exquisite. Librettist Itamar Moses and composer/lyricist David Yazbek have taken Elan Kolirin’s small, touching 2007 film of the same name and created a small, touching show that’s perfectly content with simply introducing us to two bands of real people and letting us get to know them as they get to know each other. The Band’s Visit is ultimately about the simple but transformative power of human connection.

The story concerns a literal band of Egyptian musicians who become lost on their way to play at the dedication of a new Arab arts center in Israel. The locals in a remote Israeli town take in the wayward players and, as they spend the night together, we’re treated to a series of intimate portraits of these quietly desperate people. The ongoing conflict between Arabs and Jews in the Middle East serves as very soft but nonetheless discernible subtext, coloring but not dominating the action.

It’s hard to imagine a more ideal director for The Band’s Visit than David Cromer (although Harold Prince was originally announced to direct, and indeed was in the house the night I saw the show). Cromer understands the tremendous importance of detail, without losing sight of the larger vision of a production. Cromer populates the stage with the Israeli locals, and has the Egyptian band members hanging around the stage providing background music, and yet we get the sense that each of these people have their own story, even if they never actually speak.

That character depth and strong sense of place are a testament to Cromer’s directorial skill, but also an outgrowth of the show itself, with Itamar Moses’s deceptively simple book and sparsely yet deftly drawn characters, as well as David Yazbek’s richly introspective songs. Yazbek has proven himself an admirably protean songwriter since he came on the Broadway scene with two blasts of full-on Broadway brass (The Full Monty and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), only to follow that with the driving Iberian pulse of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. Yazbek takes that eclectic impulse further with the idiomatic chromaticism of The Band’s Visit, paired with the undeniable wit and skill of his lyrics.

Two of Yazbek’s most flavorful and complex songs here go to the sinuous Katrina Lenk as Dina, in a breakout performance as a bored Israeli cafe owner who experiences a romantic awakening upon the arrival of these Egyptian visitors. In “Omar Sharif,” Dina languidly recalls the thrill of watching films with Arabian stars in her youth. In “Something Different,” she careens off into an internal exploration of her roiling sexual desire as Tewfiq, played by a restrained but indelible Tony Shaloub, sings her a song from his native land.

The show is full of intensely individual moments of simple yearning and muted desperation, particularly from Erik Liberman as a man on a non-stop vigil at a phone booth waiting for his girlfriend to call, and Andrew Polk as a widower vividly recalling his deceased wife. What might be the most charming moment in the show comes when Haled, played by a smoldering Ari’el Stachel as the band’s resident ladies man, coaches an insecure young man on how to approach and win the affection of a reticent local girl (a wonderfully subtle Rachel Prather).

The Band’s Visit reminded me very strongly of the upcoming Broadway musical Come From Away, which similarly features a group of strangers being welcomed into a sleepy, remote community, with touching and richly human results. There’s talk of The Band’s Visit moving to Broadway next season, opening up the possibility that both shows will be playing on Broadway at the same time: two moving examples of disparate groups coming together to provide support and mutual understanding. Given the political situation we currently find ourselves in, they couldn’t come at a better time.

The Atlantic Theater recently announced a second extension for The Band’s Visit which will now play through January 8th, 2017.

Taylor Swift Surprises 96-Year-Old Fan With At-Home Visit And Performance

Taylor Swift is known to surprise her fans every once in a while, but this recent meet-and-greet really pulls at the heartstrings.

The 27-year-old spent the day after Christmas in New Madrid, Missouri, visiting 96-year-old Cyrus Porter, a World War II veteran and Swift superfan. Porter recently opened up about his love of the singer in an interview with local news station KFVS, and Swift was clearly moved. In a “Christmas miracle,” she surprised Porter, and nearly 60 of his relatives, at his home on Monday, spending over an hour with him.

Swift’s dad, Scott, shared a video of the surprise on his Facebook page:

In his interview, which went viral over the weekend, Porter said Swift “puts on a show no one else puts on,” which is why he’s one of her biggest fans. His fandom also allows him to connect with his more than 20 grandchildren, some of whom were present for Swift’s surprise visit. Family members shared photos and video clips of the moment on Twitter:

Swift even performed for the Porter clan, serenading a beaming Cyrus as the rest of the family danced and sang along to “Shake It Off.”

“My Popo was ecstatic! He was grinning from ear to ear and even had tears in his eyes,” family member Caroline Fowler told E! News. “The first thing he said to her was ‘How did you get here?’ He loved every moment. He told her how he was proud of his family, his country and Taylor Swift!”

“It was the best day ever and our family is thankful for this!” Fowler added. “It meant so much for the family to see him so happy!”

25 Waterfalls Every Nature Lover Should Visit Before They Die

There’s something about falling water that enchants us humans. Whether it’s the smooth sheets of a long-exposure photograph or the raging waters of a moment captured in all its power, one thing’s for sure: we. love. waterfalls.

This week, our love of falling water sent us on a quest to find 25 of the most beautiful, most diverse, and most amazing waterfalls on the globe. A list that we think is worthy of the “before you die” classification. A list that every nature lover should add to their bucket list.

We’re not sure if we pulled it off, but after days of scouring the Internet and reading more “Top 10″ and “Top 20″ and “Most Beautiful” lists than we care to count, we’ve come up with a list of our own. Below are the 25 waterfalls we think EVERY nature should visit before they die, accompanied by beautiful photos captured by the 500px community.

1. Angel Falls

2. Yosemite Falls

3. Gullfoss

4. Victoria Falls

5. Niagara Falls

6. Fairy Falls

7. Iguazu Falls

8. Plitvice Falls

9. Manawaiopuna Falls

10. Havasu Falls

11. Rhine Falls

12. Multnomah Falls

13. Soca River Falls

14. Kaieteur Falls

15. Sutherland Falls

16. Nohkalikai Falls

17. Seljalandsfoss

19. Torc Waterfall

20. Burney Falls

21. McWay Falls

22. Skogafoss

23. Pearl Shoal Waterfall

24. Kawasan Falls

25. Detian Falls

Keep in mind that our initial shortlist had 46 waterfalls listed! Iceland alone had 6 contenders and the Pacific Northwest has enough to keep you busy for weeks. Cutting down to a final 25 was painful and difficult, and chances are good that any waterfall you think should have made the list but didn’t was considered.

Still, let us know in the comments if you think we left out a must-see waterfall. Bonus points if you’ve got your own photo of that waterfall on 500px!

And if you just want to browse more beautiful waterfall imagery from the 500px community, give this link a click and forget about getting anything else done the rest of the day.

Angelina Jolie And Daughter Shiloh Visit Turkey For World Refugee Day

Since 2001, Angelina Jolie has carried out more than 40 humanitarian missions in her role as UN High Commissioner for Refugees Goodwill Ambassador, and this past weekend she continued her efforts with her 9-year-old daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt by her side.

On Saturday, the 40-year-old actress and her daughter traveled to Turkey in honor of World Refugee Day, where they spent time touring a Syrian and Iraqi refugee camp in the southeastern province of Mardin.

In addition to their tour, the actress also met with UN officials, as well as Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, whom she thanked for his generosity towards the Syrian and Iraqis refugees. Jolie also voiced her concerns in an impassioned speech:

“We are here for a simple reason: This region is at the epicenter of a global crisis. Nearly 60 million people are displaced from their homes. That is one in every 122 people on our planet. Our world has never been richer or healthier or more advanced. Yet never before have so many people been dispossessed and stripped of their basic human rights,” she said. “We should call this what it is: not just a ‘refugee crisis,’ but a crisis of global security and governance, that is manifesting itself in the worst refugee crisis ever recorded – and a time of mass displacement.”

She added, “I plead to the international community and leaders of the world to recognize what this moment in mass human displacement means. This is not just another day. This World Refuge Day marks some frightening truths about our inability to manage international crisis – about our inability to broker peace and find lasting solutions.”

Vatican Splendors To Go On Display In Philadelphia’s Franklin Institute Museum During Pope’s Visit

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Visitors coming to Philadelphia to see the pope this September will also be able to view treasured art from the Vatican.

“Vatican Splendors” opens Sept. 19 at the Franklin Institute. It will include artwork by Michelangelo, embroidered silk vestments, religious relics and bone fragments of Saints Peter and Paul, and a touchable cast of Pope John Paul II’s hand. The exhibit traces the evolution of the Roman Catholic Church over 2,000 years through 11 galleries that include objects such as mosaics, frescoes, maps and documents. Galleries aim to recreate environments such as catacombs and the papal chambers. Organizers say they want the exhibits to be a multisensory experience.

Pope Francis plans to visit Philadelphia in September for the World Meeting of Families, an international gathering for Catholics aimed at strengthening family bonds.

Larry Dubinski, the Franklin Institute’s chief executive, said being able to have the exhibit in Philadelphia during the World Meeting of Families and the pope’s visit will give it additional impact.

“Vatican Splendors” has traveled to other U.S. cities in recent years, but organizers said 40 percent of the items are new to this tour, and it has grown in size. About 200 items will be on display.

Organizers have already begun planning lectures, tours and interactive programming.

“It is such a gift to Philadelphia. So many people who otherwise would have to travel to another continent get to experience firsthand the culture and art of the Vatican,” said Donna Crilley Farrell, executive director of World Meeting of Families.

The Franklin Institute, a science museum named after Benjamin Franklin, is the exhibition’s first stop on a two-city North American tour and the only stop on the East Coast, the institute said. The other stop has not yet been announced.

The museum is just a few blocks from where the pope will celebrate an outdoor Mass on Sept. 27.

The exhibit will remain in Philadelphia through Feb. 15.

Costa Rica Magical Places to Visit

Costa Rica Magical Places to Visit

Costa Rica’s incredible biodiversity and variable climate offers a multitude of travel destinations to explore and enjoy. With so much to see, deciding where to go can often be the hardest part of your trip planning process. Often, a good first step is to choose one or two destinations, and then complementary locations can be found based on time constraints, proximity, and interest. Many travelers choose three or four destinations to visit in a 7-10 day period. One of the reasons Costa Rica is such an exciting country to visit is that it affords visitors the opportunity to see multiple locations and habitats on a single vacation.

‘Winter, You Win’: Ithaca Tourism Bureau Urges Travelers To Visit The Florida Keys Instead

“That’s it. We surrender. Winter, you win.”

As the Northeast continues to freeze under snowy, stormy, and blustery conditions, the tourism bureau of Ithaca, New York, has conceded defeat, urging potential visitors to go to Florida instead.

VisitIthaca.com, the tourism website run by the Ithaca Convention & Visitors Bureau, recently added a pop-up window to its site, telling visitors that “due to this ridiculously stupid weather,” they should consider foregoing a trip to Ithaca, where sub-zero temperatures are expected this week. Instead, the website urges, go to the Florida Keys.

“On behalf of 100 million Northeasterners, we’re saying that we’re done with cold and snow,” Bruce Stoff, director of the Ithaca Convention & Visitors Bureau, told the Ithaca Journal of the warm weather message. “This is a way for us to stay engaged with our customers at a time when Upstate New York isn’t exactly top of mind.”

On its part, the Florida Keys homepage told CNN that it had nothing to do with the pro-Florida message. A spokesperson for the Florida Keys Tourism Council called it “the wackiest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Not Ready for the NFL Season to End? Visit These Football Film Locations

The best part of any sports movie is the inspirational speech right before The Big Game. Whether it's the Super Bowl or Little League, there's nothing a good, old-fashioned motivational speech can't fix! If watching the classic pep talks from these famous football films still isn't enough to pump you up, then maybe checking out some of the locations where they shot the movies will do the trick instead.

2015-01-26-footballmoviefilminglocations.jpg

Remember the Titans

In the movie, which is (loosely) based on a true story, Coach Herman Boone takes his team, newly integrated and struggling to bond, on a run and then proceeds to give what is easily one of the top three inspirational sports pump-up speeches at Gettysburg National Military Park — although reportedly, shots were filmed at Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park, which makes sense because a lot of the movie was shot in Georgia.

The Replacements

You could visit Ohio Stadium, since Keanu Reeves' character, Shane Falco, was a former Ohio State QB who choked in his final game and was never able to go pro, or you could visit the Baltimore Ravens' home M&T Bank Stadium, also known as "Nextel Stadium" home of the "Washington Sentinals". Just don't expect any strippers-turned-cheerleaders.

Any Given Sunday

If the NFL doesn't have enough drama for you, then inserting yourself into the semi-alternate universe of Any Given Sunday, where the AFFA league rules and you can see the fictional California Crusaders play at, ironically, Florida's Sun Life Stadium. The Orange Bowl and Texas Stadium, where the fictional Miami Sharks and Dallas Knights played, respectively, have been demolished. It's like they don't even care about the fake history behind the fields!

Jerry Maguire

First, swing by Dorothy's House, and then after your agent shows you the money you can go treat yourself and your date to a nice meal at Paco's Tacos Cantina — and be sure to sit by the fish tank like Jerry and Dorothy if you can swing it.

Varsity Blues

Attempt to recreate the experience of being a super popular Varsity football star by visiting some of the Austin filming locations for the high school classic. The Landing Strip Gentleman's Club is a great place to blow off steam when your controlling coach is being too tough, or if you're not into the strip club scene (but do keep in mind, these are high school boys we're talking about) you can always grab a burger at Top Notch Hamburgers. Whipped cream bikini and terrible fake accents not included.

The Waterboy

If you're a fan of Adam Sandler movies (and don't think that he is, in fact, the devil) you can visit the real-life stadium that served as the home field for the South Central Lousiana State Mud Dogs:  Spec Martin Stadium in DeLand, Florida. Or, if your husband leaves you for a voodoo priestess he met in New Orleans, you can always get advice on the best way to exact revenge at  Marie Laveau's House of Voodoo.

Friday Night Lights (TV)

Clear eyes, full heart, can't lose. Okay, that wasn't always the case for the Dillon Panthers, but you can pay tribute to the TV show by visiting the Panther's Field (Friday Night Lights TV Show) where some of the games were shot (in the early season when it was actually about football, at least). In fact, the reason the Dillon Panthers were even called the Panthers in the first place is because that was the mascot of the high school where they were filming.

Friday Night Lights (Movie)

The movie version portrays Odessa as a tiny little one-horse town, but that's not exactly the case: even back when the movie takes place, there were more than 250,000 people in the greater Odessa area. That adorable little downtown street from the first scene of the trailer is actually Manhattan, Kansas.

Rudy

Of course, there's nowhere to better experience this iconic football movie than at Notre Dame Stadium (seriously, duh.) You can cheer on the underdog or just dream of hearing the crowd chanting your name as your beloved teammates carry you off the field (is that so much to ask?), but even spending even a few hours on Notre Dame's campus will give you an idea of just how much these fans love football. And make sure to say hi to Touchdown Jesus!

Blind Side

While this high school football movie takes place in Memphis, it was mostly filmed in Georgia, including (oddly enough) at Agnes Scott College, Decatur's women's college. But, (spoiler alert, but not really since this is based on a true story and we all know how it ends) the happy ending sees Michael Oher playing for Ole Miss at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Longest Yard

We can't be sure what the inmates at Georgia State Prison are up to at any given moment, but I guess there's a chance that Burt Reynolds is leading a ragtag team of prisoners in a high-stakes football exhibition game against the guards (we're pretending that the 2005 Adam Sandler remake didn't happen. Plus, two Adam Sandler movies in one list is a bit much).

Brian’s Song

Contemplate one of the saddest made-for-TV movies ever (seriously, think about how it was based on a true story and try to not cry) made with a thoughtful walk (we won't tell anyone if you shed a tear or two) along Lakeshore Drive near the  John G. Shedd Aquarium.

Little Giants

Fumblerooski, fumblerooski! If you forgot just how dramatic pee-wee football can be, relive Little Giants at the field at John Burroughs High School in Burbank. Now, if only all pee-wee coaches could be more like Rick Moranis…
