The summer’s hottest trend isn’t from the runway, rather it involves a bottle cap.
Alexander Wang is the latest to get in on the viral “Bottle Cap Challenge” where people post videos of themselves opening bottle caps in inventive ways, usually by kicking it open. Wang has taken the challenge to the next step, posting a video of himself on a boat in Croatia opening a bottle cap thanks to his dramatic, 360-degree hair flip.

The designer joins a long list of models and celebrities who have gotten in on the viral trend, including Hailey Bieber, Justin Bieber, Lizzo and more. Kendall Jenner, for one, set the Internet into a frenzy with her version, which had her kick open a bottle cap while riding a jet ski.

Disney Puts Fashionable Spin on Mouse Ears With Help of Vera Wang, Heidi Klum

HEAD GEAR: A new collection of designer Mickey and Minnie Mouse ears, featuring work with Vera Wang, Heidi Klum and Cupcakes and Cashmere, among other designers, artists and brands is set to begin rolling out later this month.
It’s a new spin on a beloved souvenir for kids and adults visiting Disney’s parks. The limited-edition headband ears will be sold at the Disneyland Resort in California, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disney’s online shop. Harveys’ collaboration with Disney will be the first, launching May 24.
Disney will continue to release new designs on a monthly basis as part of a multiyear program.
“We were intentionally broad with the collaborators that we reached out to for this campaign,” said Lisa Baldzicki, vice president of merchandise and product development for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. “We wanted to make sure this campaign was special and different from everything we’ve done.”
The company cast a wide net, tapping talent that is both emerging and heritage for creations that span traditional to high fashion.

Harveys’ collaboration with Disney on its mouse ears is the first of many to roll out for the entertainment company’s multiyear program.

Faith Connexion, Koché and Feng Chen Wang Reimagine Converse Archives in New Collaboration

LONDON – Converse is working with three women’s wear designers on the brand’s latest collaborative project. Koché, Feng Chen Wang and Faith Connexion have each designed a capsule collection of apparel, footwear and accessories, which will launch on April 26, WWD has learned.
“We’ve tapped their expertise with clothing and accessories to push the bounds of our product offering and showcase new capabilities in these categories,” said Darryl Jackson, apparel director of Converse. For the capsules, the designers have reimagined a classic Converse silhouette and looked to the brand’s archive for inspiration.
Koché’s seven-piece collection has been paired with the brand’s Jack Purcell low-top sneaker, ballet flats and Converse’s Mary Jane sneakers. Pieces include a polo dress with a multi-patterned skirt and a brown camo tracksuit.
Designer Christelle Kocher of Koché said she wanted to keep Converse’s sporty elements, yet inject some of Koché’s femininity into the designs. “I played with codes of sports dressing and gave them a twist. I integrated some strong elements of the Koché vocabulary as well. Some pieces are very feminine with lace for example, but other pieces are unisex and can be worn with the same energy.”

Ones to Watch: Studio ALCH, C2H4 and Feng Chen Wang on the Power of Streetwear and Brand Collaborations

LONDON — Designers from around the world have been coming in waves to London Fashion Week Men’s and among the newest names on the calendar are Studio ALCH, C2H4 and Feng Chen Wang. But while they may be new to the London runways, they’ve already garnered international attention, having worked with brands such as Nike, Levi’s, Kappa and Converse.
The Australian designer Alexandra Hackett of Studio ALCH, who creates new garments from repurposed Nike pieces, said she’s come to London to be better integrated into the international market. “Australia is quite geographically removed, which is reflected in its industry. London is more of an internationally recognized city and you can create product that, perhaps, has more markets in different countries across the world,” she said.
Hackett caught Nike’s attention early on and the famous swoosh has become her brand’s trademark. The sportswear giant has also sponsored some of her designs. Hackett has snared celebrity fans such as Kendrick Lamar, who has worn Studio ALCH’s boiler suit made from reconstructed Nike bags, and British Grime rappers Stormzy and Skepta.

Vera Wang to Introduce Bridal Jewelry With Chow Tai Fook

SHANGHAI — Bridal doyenne Vera Wang is expanding her universe again, linking up this time with Hong Kong-headquartered Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group to produce a fine jewelry collection catering to the modern Chinese bride.
“Vera Wang Love” will debut on Oct. 19 in Chow Tai Fook Shanghai stores before expanding to other key cities including Beijing, Chengdu and Hong Kong. It builds on top of her existing offerings in the space via “Simply Vera Vera Wang” jewelry, as well as deals for homeware, and her core ready-to-wear and gowns business.
The collection will span 18-karat gold and platinum engagement rings, wedding bands and fine fashion jewelry, with a starting price point of about $ 400.
Traditionally speaking, gold and jade usually adorn brides in China, but the two sides said couples in greater numbers are starting to “incorporate diamond jewelry into traditional engagements.”
Wang has found a powerful partner in Chow Tai Fook, one of the world’s largest jewelers with more than 2,600 points of sale across China. The group’s other brands include Chow Tai Fook T Mark, Hearts on Fire, Monologue and SoinLove.

Vera Wang, Olivier Rousteing, Anna Sui, Carol Lim, Humberto Leon and Moncler to Be Honored at FGI’s Night of Stars

ANOTHER CONSTELLATION: Vera Wang will lead this year’s Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars as the Superstar award winner.
Achieving such status has been 28 years in the making for Wang, who started a bridalwear company in 1990 after creating her own wedding gown the year before. The New Yorker has since layered ready-to-wear, accessories, footwear and a myriad of other products, including nonfashion ones.
Three Fashion Star awards will also be given to Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing, the New York-based designer Anna Sui and the creative team of Carol Lim and Humberto Leon at the Oct. 25 gala. In addition to starting Opening Ceremony, Lim and Leon are creative directors at Kenzo.
Like many other industries, fashion is being reenvisoned, and the theme of this year’s gala is in line with that ideology. Margaret Hayes, FGI’s president and chief executive officer, said, “The theme of this year’s celebration is ‘Design Reimagined.’ It highlights those who see the world the way it is; who listen, change the conversation and reimagine what is to what should be, bringing new ideas and meaning to the worlds of design, beauty, culture, philanthropy and the human condition.”

Peggy Eskenasi Named President of Vera Wang Group

CHANGES AT WANG: Peggy Eskenasi, a former Nine West Holdings Inc. and Kohl’s executive, has been named president of Vera Wang Group. She succeeds Veronique Gabai-Pinsky who has been in the role since January 2016.
According to a Wang spokeswoman, Gabai-Pinksy resigned for personal reasons. Neither she, Wang nor Eskenasi were available for comment Friday.
“Vera Wang personally thanks her for her valuable contribution to the company during her tenure and wishes her all the best,” the Wang spokeswoman said of Gabai-Pinsky.
Eskenasi had been executive chairwoman of Nine West Holdings, Inc. from September 2014 to May 2016. Before that, she was senior executive vice president of product development at Kohl’s Department Stores, which has held the license for Simply Vera Vera Wang since 2007. While at Kohl’s, Eskenasi was instrumental in building a large stable of brands that are either exclusive to Kohl’s stores or licensed to the company, such as Simply Vera Vera Wang, Jennifer Lopez, Candie’s, Rock & Republic and Juicy Couture. Earlier, she was president, private brands at Saks Inc. from 1997 to 2004.
Prior to joining Wang, Gabai-Pinsky was global brand president of The Estée Lauder Cos.’ Aramis and Designer Fragrances, BeautyBank and IdeaBank. She oversaw several fragrances, including

DESIGNER SIDELINES: While some advertisers will be forking over $ 5 million for 30-second Super Bowl commercials, Vera Wang will be getting some air time for free.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ cheerleaders will be rallying for Nick Foles and the rest of the team wearing uniforms created by the New York designer. In 2003, Wang became the first big-name designer to suit up a NFL cheerleading squad. No slouch in the athletic department, Wang herself was a competitive skater before she segued into fashion. Vera Wang and Ladurée Collaborate on Desserts

SWEET TOOTH: Vera Wang and Ladurée have teamed up for a dessert collaboration called Vera Wang Pour Ladurée. The desserts launched this week.
The first of its kind for Vera Wang and Ladurée, the collection features a coconut crème Chantilly macaron as well as a mango and coconut wedding cake. Crafted in Ladurée’s patissiers, the confections were inspired by Wang’s bridal designs and pay homage to her lifelong connection to Paris.
“Among my most memorable and enchanting experiences in Paris has always been Ladurée, whether it was tea sandwiches, shopping with my mother or taking my daughters for lunch in St. Germain, Ladurée has always ben a part of my Parisian experience,” Wang said. Vera Wang Celebrates Chinese Heritage and American Upbringing at China Institute’s Blue Cloud Gala

BIG IN CHINA: Vera Wang and Ron Perelman were among the honorees at the China Institute’s annual Blue Cloud gala Thursday night.
The gathering at Cipriani’s lower Broadway location in the Cunard Building was meant to center on the Institute’s commitment to advancing understanding and deepening trust between China and the U.S. Ning Yuan, chairman and president of China Construction America, and Robert Hong Xiao, chief executive officer of Perfect World Co. Ltd. were also honored, as well as New York Gov. Andrew Coumo, who wasn’t able to attend the black tie dinner.
Beforehand, China Institute chairman Chien Chung Pei, better known as “Didi,” said of the honorees, “They share the spirit and mission of China Institute to shape positive and strong U.S.-China relations through education, culture and business.”
Derek Lam also turned up to support Wang. She later told the crowd how growing up in the U.S., her parents Cheng Ching and Florence Wang encouraged her to embrace American culture, never allowing her to forget her Chinese heritage. OUTER REACHES: Alexander Wang will take his spring 2018 collection to Bushwick this Saturday night, with two pop-ups planned en route to the venue.
The evening, dubbed “#Wangfest,” will be held at 9:30 p.m. and will once again be standing room only. Guests are encouraged to pick up their wristbands at the Grand Street Alexander Wang flagship in advance of the Saturday night show. The show venue appears to be a very on-brand warehouse in a neighborhood heating up by the minute.

In with a Bang! Kylie Jenner Debuts Wet-look Hairstyle at Alexander Wang

Hair chameleon Kylie Jenner is at it again.

Just one day after the 19-year-old reality star appeared to have traded in her long black locks for a deep navy hue for New York Fashion Week, she stepped out at Alexander Wang’s show on Saturday showing off a brand new hairdo.

Kylie rocked a shoulder-skimming length back in her natural dark shade, complete with messy bangs. The mix-up appears to be a wig courtesy of her go-to hair guru Tokyo Stylez.

“Wet look,” the hairstylist captioned a photo of his client on Instagram, showing his admiration for her look with a heart-eyes emoji.

The beauty mogul’s older sister, Kendall, has also been donning the “short hair, don’t care” look recently. The two posed together at Wang’s show with their lobs after the 21-year-old model premiered her shorter-than-ever style at the La Perla lingerie runway show in week.

In fact, Kendall wrote on her app that her new look has people mixing her up with her sister. The day after she got the cut, courtesy of the Kardashians’ go-to stylist Jen Atkin, a paparazzo caught her walking into a restaurant and thanked Kylie.

“I think the combination of my new super short hair and my outfit—leggings and a Champion sweater—caused the mix-up,” Kendall wrote. “So funny, though.”

Easy mistake — while Kendall’s hair has remained fairly consistent, Kylie is always experimenting with different lengths, colors and textures.

In September 2015, the Kylie Cosmetics founder revealed in a post that she first dyed her hair at the age of 16 without permission from mom Kris Jenner. Since changing her naturally dark hair for the first time, she’s has been hooked on mixing up her hairdos.

“After that, I’ve just had this addiction to changing my hair. It makes me feel like a new person. I love feeling different and I love leaving the house knowing that nobody has ever seen me this way,” Kylie wrote on her app, and added that she doesn’t really like to keep one style for too long. “It’s hard for me to go back to different styles I’ve worn before; I don’t always like my normal short, black hair. That look makes me feel like I’m going back in time. It’s like I’m going back to that moment a year ago and I just don’t want be in that space.”

Kylie also revealed that as a result of her obsession with hair dye, her mane has become damaged, so she often turns to wigs and extensions to give her strands a break.

“I’ve had to find ways to really try and take care of it and give it a rest. I discovered this amazing wig guy, Tokyo, and together we create wigs. Wigs are just SO much easier because I change my mind so much and this way I’m not damaging my hair.”

I think I liked Alexander Wang’s fall collection. I say “think” because I don’t really know yet. I only have the fleeting impression I got from viewing the clothes from the very back “row” — that’s in quotes because there were no rows; it was an open, standing-room-only situation because that’s cool and this is a democracy.
In addition to being at a distance (which I didn’t mind, to tell you the truth, since I had a lot more room than those suckers who thought it was better to be crushed but close to the runway) it was really dark in the vacant RKO Hamilton Theater on 146th Street and Broadway, just a hop, skip and a jump from everything else going on during fashion week. So dark, I almost fell on these really shallow steps that were invisible to the non-night-vision-seeing-eye. Remind me to tell you about last season at Wang’s show when I ended up in the emergency room because my coworker was so desperate to get Madonna on WWD’s Instagram Stories that he jumped on a bench, and then he and the bench fell on my foot. It wasn’t broken but it is still a teensy bit swollen five months

Rodrigo Bazan Exits Alexander Wang

ON THE MOVE: Rodrigo Bazan has stepped down as president of Alexander Wang, a role he held since December 2010. The Argentinian-born executive joined the company in its first major growth phase, overseeing the expansion of new product categories and retail markets, including the rollout of 27 stores worldwide. He was the brand’s first appointed president since its launch in 2005. Prior to Alexander Wang, Bazan was based in Paris as the vice president and general manager, Europe, Middle East and India of Marc Jacobs International LLC.
A spokesman for Alexander Wang told WWD that the company was thankful for Bazan’s accomplishments and plans to pursue the next steps for its continued business development. An announcement of a successor is expected in the coming months.
