As happy hour comes closer, check out the new bar Cambridge Public House, which was opened on Jan. 14 by Hyacinthe Lescoët, former head barman at the Mary Céleste. “Fancy cocktail places can be a bit intimidating, so we wanted to recreate the vibe of an English pub, with cozy furniture and an open mindset,” said the drinks maestro. Good to know for Dry January: around a quarter of the creative cocktails listed on the menu will be spirit free.

What to Watch: New York Fashion Week: Men’s Latest Challenges

New York Fashion Week: Men’s has had trouble gaining a foothold since it was launched by the Council of Fashion Designers of America four years ago. The upcoming fall shows — slated for Feb. 4 to 6 — are facing even bigger challenges. First, an unexpected one-time shift in dates by the trade shows in Las Vegas means that retailers and editors who usually attend both will have to make a choice or abbreviate one or both of the events. Project, Liberty Fairs and Agenda will be held Feb. 5 to 7.
On top of that, many of fashion’s biggest and buzziest names have opted to either hold dual-gender shows or have decamped to other cities. Tom Ford will again hold a men’s and women’s show, as he has in past seasons, at 8 p.m. on Feb. 6, officially ending the men’s shows. The women’s shows kick off with Ralph Lauren on Feb. 7 at 10 a.m.
Also opting for dual-gender shows later in the week are Palm Angels — which is making its New York debut — on Feb. 8; John Elliott on Feb. 9; Opening Ceremony on Feb. 10, and Michael Kors on the final day, Feb. 13.

London Fashion Week Men’s Fall 2019: What to See, Eat and Where to Shop

LONDON — The first weekend in January is never an easy one, but London has the antidote, with a lineup of streetwear and luxury stores and restaurants serving everything from classic British to Taiwanese food, all of which will be open during London Fashion Week Men’s.

END OF THE LINE: British property group Shaftesbury has expanded its retail portfolio, opening the first London outpost for the online men’s wear store, End. Occupying 9,000 square feet on the corner of Broadwick and Marshall Streets, the two-story glass-fronted space offers a range of collections from labels including Off-White, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Nike and Adidas Consortiums. The store, which already has units in Newcastle, England, and Glasgow, Scotland, features modern furnishings such as marble staircases and glass showcases.
End is part of a strategy by Shaftesbury to position Soho as a go-to destination for emerging brands. The company has been offering reasonable rents in the neighborhood, which is a few minutes’ walk from Oxford and Regent Streets. Shaftesbury has also helped to install Supreme, Palace, Carhartt and Dukes Cupboard, a multibrand retailer, in the neighborhood. Samantha Bain-Mollison, head of retail at Shaftesbury, has been driving the strategy. CFDA Releases New York Fashion Week Schedule

The next New York Fashion Week will see a dual-gender Tom Ford show bridge the official men’s and women’s calendars.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America released a preliminary schedule Tuesday night that includes Ford at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, the last of the three-day men’s-specific schedule. His show will be co-ed, however.
In addition, Joseph Abboud will be showing at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, followed by Todd Snyder at 8:00 that night. Other known names on the men’s roster are Robert Geller who will show on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 7:00 p.m., and Ovadia & Sons who will show an hour later that night. Tuesday will also see shows from Dyne, N. Hoolywood, Landlord and Linder.
As reported, a shift in dates by Project in Las Vegas means that the runway shows will overlap with the men’s trade shows this time. Project, Liberty and Agenda will hold their shows Feb. 5–7.
As far as the women’s shows are concerned, Ralph Lauren will kick off the week at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, and Marc Jacobs will end the week on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 6:00 p.m.

Alexander McQueen Missing From Paris Men’s Week

SHOW BUSINESS: Big acts missing from the official schedule of Paris Men’s Week in January will include Alexander McQueen. The house plans to switch to a series of intimate events as its new presentation format, WWD has learned. The first will take place in London in May for the fall 2019 season. “Intrinsically connected to the bespoke tailoring heritage of Alexander McQueen men’s wear, these events will be central to the evolution of the house’s commitment to the championing of creativity, craftsmanship and innovation,” the brand said. The house moved to showing in Paris in June 2017 after having shown by appointment in Milan and London in previous seasons.
As expected, Lanvin, which recently parted ways with its men’s creative director Lucas Ossendrijver, is also missing from the lineup, according to the Chambre Syndicale which released its provisional schedule for the week on Friday.
Maison Margiela will also sit out the Paris men’s shows this season as it undergoes a strategic review under chief executive officer Riccardo Bellini, who joined the company in March. The house is believed to be aligning its men’s ready-to-wear collection more closely with its women’s line and Artisanal couture collection. Maison Margiela creative director John Galliano oversees

Gucci to Host Event During January’s Fashion Week in Milan

MILAN — Gucci will cap off the upcoming Men’s Fashion Week in January with a performance event here.
As Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana president Carlo Capasa revealed during a press conference on Wednesday presenting the schedule of the city’s upcoming fashion week, the fashion label — which will return to Milan in February with a coed show after it decamped to Paris last September for one season — will host the “Motus presents MDLSX with Silvia Calderoni” performance event at its Gucci hub headquarters on Jan. 14. The performance, which will be produced by independent theater company Motus and directed by Enrico Casagrande and Daniela Nicolò, will blend a monologue by Calderoni and video projections exploring the notion of gender identity in a play inspired by the 2003 novel “Middlesex” by American writer Jeffrey Eugenides. Capasa dubbed the event “not to be missed,” noting how important it is for Gucci to be part of the official schedule.
Men’s Fashion Week will run Jan. 11 to 14 and while, as reported, the Giorgio Armani brand is the latest to join the likes of Gucci, Bottega Veneta and Salvatore Ferragamo to skip the January shows to host a coed runway event in February, Emporio Armani

Catherine Deneuve Set to Sell YSL Wardrobe During Couture Week

BELLE DE JOUR: French actress Catherine Deneuve is putting her personal collection of Yves Saint Laurent pieces up for auction at Christie’s France.
Starting January 23 during Paris Couture Week, the auction house will unveil 300 items of clothing and accessories belonging to Deneuve, a longtime friend of Saint Laurent’s.
It will put on sale 150 lots on January 24, with additional pieces being presented online from January 23 to January 30. An exhibition of the lots will be open to the public between January 19 and 24.
“Today, I am letting go of my house in Normandy where I kept this collection, not without sadness,” said Deneuve in a statement. “These are creations by such a talented man, who only designed to make women more beautiful.”
A standout piece up for sale is a short, fringed and embroidered dress from the spring 1969 haute couture collection that Deneuve wore when she first met Alfred Hitchcock in 1969, estimated to sell for between 3,000 euros and 5,000 euros.
Other lots include a long peacock blue silk evening dress from the fall 1997 collection worth 2,000 to 3,000 euros, and a black wool Le Smoking tuxedo, chosen by Deneuve to wear at the couture house’s 20th

New York Fashion Week: Men’s, Vegas Date Overlap Causing Angst

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe — make your choice — New York Fashion Week: Men’s or MAGIC.
A shift in dates by Project, the flagship men’s wear trade show of the MAGIC Marketplace in Las Vegas, to a week earlier in February is forcing many brands and retailers to choose between the two events or, in the case of smaller designers, create extra samples in order to have a presence at both.
NYFW: Men’s will run Feb. 4 to 6 in New York City while Project will run Feb. 5 to 7 in Las Vegas.
Already Liberty Fairs and Agenda have had to leave their longtime home at the Sands Convention Center in order to align with Project’s dates and have secured a spot in downtown Las Vegas for their shows.
Sharifa Murdock, co-owner of Liberty, said she’s aiming to deliver a different experience this time. Liberty will be held at the World Market Center, which she described as an “open space with four big tents” that will allow Liberty a clean slate to “create what we want. We’re going to do something brand new,” she said.
That will include “a lot of activations” that will offer a “fresh” take on the trade show scene. “We

Tokyo Fashion Week Receives Tepid Reviews With Some Bright Spots

TOKYO — Eagle-eyed buyers at Tokyo Fashion Week discovered some gems beyond the runways — even one that might satisfy despondent Phoebe-philes.
“I think there may be an opportunity for Hyke to gain a bigger following. For people who were fans of Phoebe Philo’s Celine who are now looking elsewhere, Hyke could possibly fill that void,” said Motofumi “Poggy” Kogi, creative director of United Arrows & Sons.
Hyke staged a large-scale show in a rented venue for the first time this season. And while it is already carried by some of the best stores in Japan and across Asia, Kogi believes it may have potential in the West as well.
Tomomi Miyamoto, a men’s wear buyer for Hankyu and Hanshin Department Stores, said she planned to pick up Japanese brand Comoli, which also did not participate in fashion week. “The quality of the materials is unique to Japan, and the designer’s proposal for the way clothes should feel when you wear them is fresh,” Miyamoto said. “I can feel its strength in its conviction to be unshakable by trends.”

Wool Week Takes Over London’s Covent Garden With Colored Washing Machines

SPIN CYCLE: Britain’s annual Wool Week always sets out to quash misconceptions about the fabric, and this year they didn’t disappoint, unveiling an installation of stacked, colorful washing machines in London’s Covent Garden. Dubbed The Wool Care, the installation will be on show until Oct. 21, and is meant to demonstrate the fact that wool is washable, durable — and cool.
“We always thought this was the last frontier. A lot of people think you can’t throw wool in a washing machine, but you can, and when you wash wool, you’re not creating micro-plastics. Wool biodegrades naturally in the sea,” said Peter Ackroyd, chief operating officer for Campaign for Wool.
Hackett, Vivienne Westwood, Marks & Spencer and Adidas are among some of the retailers who took part in the launch earlier this week. “Vivienne Westwood has spread the message of wool extremely well, she talks about buy well, buy less, buy wool,” Ackroyd said.
Jeremy Hackett of the men’s wear brand Hackett unveiled the installation with his dog Muffin and his Aston Martin, which has bespoke wool interiors. Among the other retailers who are preaching the gospel of wool is the outdoor apparel brand Finisterre, which is changing the perception of wool as an “old-fashioned and stuffy” material.

BRAVE BOY: British Vogue editor in chief Edward Enninful received amfAR’s Award of Courage in recognition of his outstanding personal commitment to the fight against AIDS on Saturday night, during the tenth Milan edition of the gala event.
“Growing up in West London in the Eighties, I saw the hostility, fear and rejection that HIV brought to the gay community. Those were difficult times that will never be forgotten. Many men and women refused to surrender in the face of this global crisis and yet today the greatest battle left to fight against HIV is stigma,” he said during his speech. He was introduced on the stage by Adwoa Aboah, the model who appeared on the cover of British Vogue’s first issue under the direction of Enninful.

Anya Hindmarch Urges Public to Chill During London Fashion Week

A CLOUDY DAY IN LONDON TOWN: Anya Hindmarch loves putting on a wacky show. Past ones have featured spinning teacup rides or handbags singing show tunes while the latest is an immersive, Instagram-able presentation for the press and the public with big, fat bean bags shaped like clouds, a live choral concert and lots of meditative moments.
The installation, Chubby Cloud by Anya Hindmarch, is a three-day event that’s taking place at Banqueting House, the neo-classical gem designed by Inigo Jones. The great hall has a vast Peter Paul Rubens on the ceiling and once Saturday morning’s giddy guests had jumped, vaulted and flopped down on the big white bean bag that nearly took up the room, they could view that painting like never before.
On Saturday, a BBC presenter invited guests to relax on the cloud while he read “The Shipping Forecast,” a regular radio weather report for the seas around the U.K. (many British people find this both informative and soothing) as Hindmarch spoke briefly about the virtues of taking a break. The accessories designer has booked a lineup of ticketed talks, meditations, music and bedtime stories over the three-day period.

London Fashion Week Goes Fur-Free

LONDON — London designers have rejected real fur, and no one will be using it on the London Fashion Week catwalks for the spring 2019 season.
The British Fashion Council said Friday that no one plans to show fur in their collections, according to its recent survey of all on-schedule designers.
The news comes on the heels of Burberry’s decision to eliminate fur from its collections, with the exception of shearling, and follows similar policies by brands including Gucci, Versace, Jimmy Choo and Michael Kors.
The BFC’s survey on fur was part of the organization’s Positive Fashion initiative, which aims to educate designers to make ethical choices and reduce waste in their supply chain.
The BFC itself has not banned fur, and said that while it advises designers to operate in sustainable ways, it cannot interfere with their creative processes.
In the last year, anti-fur activists have been making their presence felt outside BFC venues, demanding that the organization impose a total fur ban on catwalk and presentation designers.
“The BFC supports the creativity of designers and keeps an open dialogue with the industry, from designers to media, retailers, business leaders, government and global brands while encouraging designers to make ethical choices when it comes to their selection

Ikea and Virgil Abloh to Stage Pop-Up Shop During Paris Fashion Week

MAGIC CARPET: Virgil Abloh is set to spark another Paris Fashion Week stampede once again, with a pop-up shop offering a selection of limited edition Ikea rugs by the designer set to hit the city’s Cité de la Mode et du Design on Sept. 29.
Dubbed “Still Loading” — in quote marks bien sûr — the event will serve as a taster for the designer’s home collection with the Swedish retailer due to launch in late 2019.
“We just couldn’t wait. A lot of people are engaged and curious about this collaboration….and we constantly get the question when we will make it available to people. So we decided to respond to this by speeding things up a bit and releasing a few rugs,” said Henrik Most, creative leader at Ikea Range and Supply. The designs “say a lot about the collaboration and who Virgil is,” he added. “They are bold, contemporary and carry messages of our time.”
Abloh, founder of Off-White and men’s artistic director at Louis Vuitton, said he believes the designs “can become art pieces you put on the wall just as much as functional objects in a home. Like, “Hey! I own this coveted piece.’”

Moda Operandi Sets Summer Shoe Week

Moda Operandi is combatting summertime doldrums with “Shoe Week,” a new sales franchise that solely promotes fashion for the feet.
Seven advance trunk show sales have been scheduled to take place from Monday to Aug. 12. Some sales have a theme, like “Curb-to-Cab,” which focuses on impractical stiletto shoes in which one can barely walk.
Other sales highlight a single brand, as is the case with the site’s Jimmy Choo sale. Additional focuses of the week include mule styles and sneakers. New designer callouts for the week include labels A by Anabelle, Stella Luna and Saptodjojokartiko.
Moda’s vice president for nonapparel Jodi Kaplan explained of the emphasis on shoes: “It’s a growing category. Shoes get a lot of exposure, clients are definitely interested in wardrobing shoes. It’s been interesting to see the breadth of shoe styles our lady is interested in — everything from sneakers to heels.”
Kaplan said the site experiences near equal sales of shoes and handbags, and that she is “looking to grow both categories.”
Shoe Week trunk shows will remain on the live site for the duration of August.

Agnona Runway Show to Be Included on Official Milan Fashion Week Calendar

OFFICIAL SLOT: Following a few seasons of presentations and intimate shows, Agnona is making its first appearance among the brands listed by the Italian fashion chamber on September’s Milan Fashion Week official schedule, which Camera della Moda is releasing on Friday.
“It’s a formalization of what we have been doing in the next couple of years, since I joined the brand,” said Simon Holloway, which was tapped by the label’s parent Ermenegildo Zegna Group as Agnona creative director in November 2015. “I’m very happy Agnona is finally on the calendar, which is something the brand deserves, being a champion of the most authentic Made in Italy. Milan is such an incredible family of exciting and diverse brands.”
Holloway said the brand, which will show its spring 2019 collection on Sept. 22 at Milan’s Triennale design museum, is not hosting any mega events, instead keeping it small and intimate.
As part of the company’s retail expansion plan, last May Agnona inaugurated its first store in London, on Albemarle Street in the Mayfair neighborhood, and is opening a flagship in Moscow next fall.

Victoria Beckham, Alexa Chung, Bobby Abley Join London Fashion Week Schedule

LONDON — Victoria Beckham is just one of the new names to join the London Fashion Week women’s calendar in September, according to the preliminary LFW schedule, which is now on the British Fashion Council’s web site.
Other newcomers include Alexa Chung, who has been eschewing the traditional show schedule in favor of themed events hosted around the world and a see-now-buy-now format, and men’s wear talents Bobby Abley and Kiko Kostadinov.
Burberry will host its seasonal show on Sept. 17 and though not new to the lineup, all eyes will be on the brand this season since this will be the first show from new creative director Riccardo Tisci.
Beckham will host her spring 2019 show in London on the morning of Sept. 16 and mark the 10-year anniversary of her business. The company also said that more events, exclusive pieces and other activations will take place throughout the year to celebrate the brand’s decade.
The contemporary label Rixo London, best known for its mid-priced printed dresses, will be hosting a see-now-buy-now presentation during the five-day event, which runs from September 14 to 18, while emerging men’s wear labels Bobby Abley and Kiko Kostadinov are also taking the September plunge as they dip

Christian Siriano on Emmys, Inclusivity and New York Fashion Week

Christian Siriano made a summer stop in Los Angeles this week, just in time for Thursday’s Emmy nominations announcement. That night, he hosted a dinner at Chateau Marmont with 11 Honoré, the size-inclusive luxury e-commerce site cofounded by Patrick Herning and Kathryn Retzer. Said Herning, “Christian was one of the first designers we launched with and he’s still one of our best-selling designers a year later. He’s really on board with changing the game.” The designer’s inclusive approach to retail and celebrity dressing has heightened his profile, but he remains as down-to-earth and energetic as ever. “I’m always up sending e-mails in the middle of the night, because otherwise, what are you going to do? We’re there for our customers.”
WWD: When was the last time you were in L.A.?
Christian Siriano: I came for my book launch last November and for a few quick Oscar fittings in January. We dressed almost 17 people and I barely was here. I don’t know how we did that; it was crazy.

Industry Adapts to Shifting Milan Men’s Fashion Week

MILAN — A shrinking show calendar, currency volatility and macro economic issues at the tail end of a period of local political instability following Italy’s general elections were only some of the concerns weighing on executives on the eve of Milan Men’s Fashion Week.
But on the upside, business is chugging along steadily. Revenues generated by the fashion sector last year grew 2.5 percent to 64.8 billion euros, and exports rose 4.3 percent to 50 billion euros, according to Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana’s Fashion Economic Trends report issued in May. The first half is expected to show 1.5 percent growth in sales compared with the same period last year. Last week, the updated Altagamma Worldwide Market Monitor and Bain & Co. study painted a pretty picture, as the global personal luxury goods industry is expected to grow 6 to 8 percent at constant exchange compared with the 5 percent growth forecast last October for 2018.
“Everyone is hoping to see a modicum of stability, which would allow us to set goals in the medium-term, invest in three-year plans without this sense of anxiety hovering over us,” said Paolo Roviera, chief executive officer of Corneliani. Milan Fashion Week Men’s Spring 2019: Ones to Watch

Les Hommes is expanding into streetwear with the launch of the Les Hommes Urban line, which is available for sale at the brand’s Milan showroom during fashion week.
“The LHU collection was born out of a creative and a practical idea. When we go back to the very early days of Les Hommes, there were a lot of urban influences in the collection, such as graffiti and workwear. It is a creative playground that we always embraced and are very fascinated by,” said Tom Notte, who designs the collection with longtime business partner Bart Vandebosch.
“From the practical point of view, we were pushed to launch LHU by the feedback we were getting from our own stores. In Antwerp, where the first store was founded, we were confronted with a demand from young guys who were very interested in our collection, but because of its positioning, it was out of reach for them. We created a streetwear brand that carries the originality of a designer brand since many pieces are treated and designed with the same care as we do for Les Hommes.”

Paris Men’s Week: Ones to Watch

Cmmn Swdn, Boramy Viguier and GEYM figure among a selection of rising brands on the week’s official men’s calendar and presentation lineup. And Davide Marello, the former creative director of Boglioli, will unveil his latest project, Davi, which is heavy on printed shirts, in Paris on Thursday.
Undercover, which presented its fall 2018 men’s collection in one of the guests spots at Pitti Uomo in January, will also present on the official men’s calendar for the first time, along with Alyx, which was shortlisted for the LVMH Prize in 2016. Check out a selection of the names set to present.

For their debut show on the official Paris Men’s Week calendar, Saif Bakir and Emma Hedlund are doing their bit to protest against the mountain of waste the fashion industry is sitting on; to slow things down again and get back to the roots of fashion.
The show is scheduled to take place Tuesday at the Les Ateliers, the École nationale supérieure de création industrielle, a French design school located in Paris’ 11th arrondissement.

EXCLUSIVE: VFiles Announces Runway 10 Show, Mentor Committee for New York Fashion Week

It’s back to the runway for VFiles, which will be holding its 10th show on Sept. 5.
Last season, instead of the traditional runway/performance extravaganza the company hosts, it staged “Be Heart, Make Noise,” an immersive music and fashion event done in collaboration with Adidas Originals. In the past, runway shows included celebrity guest judges such as Khloé Kardashian and Young Thug. For VFiles Runway 10, the brand is bringing its event a bit more down to earth by, for the first time, appointing a committee of eight industry leaders that will select and mentor show contestants throughout their journey to New York Fashion Week. After that, the VFiles team will provide mentorship for the following season. The pivot brings a slightly more serious — yet welcome — tone to the show that has otherwise been high on experimental fashion.
The mentor committee includes: Julie Anne Quay, founder and chief executive officer of VFiles; Laura Brown, editor in chief of InStyle magazine; Rio Uribe, designer and founder of Gypsy Sport; Candy Pratts Price, fashion consultant; Anna Trevelyan, stylist and creative consultant; Erin Magee, founder of MadeMe; Paul Cupo, designer, and James Costas-Michael, merchandise director of VFiles.

Postapocalyptic Theme Ran Through 5,000 Works at London’s Graduate Fashion Week

LONDON — This year’s Graduate Fashion Week was one of the largest events to take place in size and ambitions with more than 5,000 pieces of work on display from 500 students — the majority of whom hailed from outside the U.K.
Graduate Fashion Week is a charity that was founded in 1991 and aims to bring together British and international fashion universities and elevate the creative industries.
“We’ve had more visitors than we’ve ever had. We’ve got 37 U.K. universities and 51 international ones, so we have managed to create a global stage for everyone,” said Mark Newton-Jones, chairman of Graduate Fashion Week.
“We’re trying to bridge the gap between graduates and employers, we’ve introduced a protégé program so everyone up for an award tonight will be mentored by a designer or leader in the industry,” he said.
Hosted in east London’s Old Truman Brewery, the awards ceremony opened with a personal message from British Prime Minister Theresa May. “I am very proud of the U.K.’s fashion industry, some of the most iconic brands and biggest names in the business hail from the U.K. Graduate Fashion Week plays such an important role in the process of nurturing the very best talents.”

Exclusive: Gucci to Join Paris Fashion Week This Fall

MILAN — Continuing to speak with a French accent this year, Gucci’s Alessandro Michele is joining Paris Fashion Week this fall, WWD has learned.
Decamping from Milan for one season, the Italian luxury brand is to parade its spring-summer 2019 collection in the French capital on Sept. 24. The show marks the crescendo of a three-part homage to France conceived by Michele, creative director.
“Gucci is a global brand with deep and vibrant Italian roots and a visionary French shareholder, Kering,” said Marco Bizzarri, president and chief executive officer of Gucci. “When Alessandro told me of his desire to present the new collection in Paris — continuing the French-inspired narrative — I thought it was a perfect way to continue the creative homage to France.”
Bizzarri underscored that the show date marks the “transition day between Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks to avoid impacting schedules. We will then look forward to returning to Milan in February 2019.”
While foregoing a show in Milan for the season, the company is planning a special event to be held at the Gucci Hub on Wednesday, Sept. 19, the second day of Milan Women’s Fashion Week, scheduled to run Sept. 18-24. Details about the event are being kept under wraps.

Stella McCartney Joins Milan Men’s Fashion Week

MILAN – Stella McCartney is headed to Milan.
The designer will present her women’s resort 2019 and men’s spring 2019 collections in a presentation to be held on the last day of Milan Fashion Week, running June 15 to 18.
The label’s presentation will be held from 8 to 11 p.m., while details on the location have yet to be disclosed.
McCartney won’t be the only designer presenting women’s wear during Milan Men’s Fashion Week. Alberta Ferretti will also join the men’s calendar debuting her new resort 2019 and Limited Edition collections on June 15.
The show will take place at the Sala delle Cariatidi venue – located on the main floor of the central Palazzo Reale building – starting from 6:30 p.m. Divided in two parts, the event will first showcase the resort 2019 range, followed by evening and cocktail gowns from the fashion house’s demi-couture line.

The Nashville Fashion Week finale runway show will showcase Sui’s spring collection on April 7 at OZ Arts Nashville.
Sui has over 50 boutiques in eight countries and sells her collection in 300 stores in over 30 countries. She has also launched cosmetics, fragrance, shoes and accessories licenses.

Arab Fashion Council Plots Arab Fashion Week Riyadh, Partners With British Fashion Council

LONDON — The Arab Fashion Council is starting to lay the foundations for the development of a sustainable infrastructure across the Arab world, with a strategic partnership with the British Fashion Council and the debut of the first Arab Fashion Week in Riyadh.
The nonprofit organization, which represents 22 countries across the Arab world and has recently set up a regional office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is aiming to use the event as a platform to support local talent, as well as international names looking to enter the Arab market.
“The history and trajectory of the BFC goes hand in hand with what we are trying to achieve: nurturing young talent and adopting an international vision,” said Princess Noura Bint Faisal Al Saud, the organization’s honorary president.
In turn, the AFC will work toward providing opportunities for London-based designers to tap into the Arab market.

Central Saint Martins’ MA Students Present Graduate Collections at London Fashion Week

Student graduate shows can be hit or miss but the 19 MA students from Central Saint Martins presented an exciting mix that ran the sartorial gamut from extreme silhouettes and innovative textiles to sleek tailoring in more traditional fabrications.
Among the highlights: Liam Johnson, whose sculptural silhouettes opened the show; Elise Perrotta’s all cream collection featuring wardrobe staples in textural knits, and women’s wear designer Edwin Mohney, who closed the show with a provocative collection that included conceptual pieces made using inflatables wrapped in packing tape.
As in past seasons, craftsmanship in the men’s wear stood out. Particularly noteworthy was Olaf Tavares Vieira, whose draped men’s wear collection was awarded the L’Oreal Professional Creative Award. Inspired by utilitarianism and the stomach as the center of the body, his lineup included fluid ankle-grazing coats, along with sweaters with cutouts in the back and slouchy trousers enveloping the torso that had a monkish appeal.
“I like clothes that are close on the neck and belly and on the ankle,” Vieira explained. “It gives me a kind of strength, even if the clothes are soft.”
He shared the prize with women’s wear designer Rebecca Jeffs, whose tactile collection was a clever play on famous sayings such as
