LABYRINTH WOMAN: Asia Argento has just been cast in a new role.
The Italian actress stepped in to play Ariadne, the Cretan princess who helps Theseus out of the Minautor’s labyrinth, according to Greek mythology, in designer Antonio Grimaldi’s fall 2019 couture show on Monday.

“Once she rescued Theseus, who she had fallen in love with, Ariadne was abandoned on the island of Naxos,” explained the designer, who themed his collection around the mythical love story and the symbol of the labyrinth. “Richard Strauss wrote an opera about it, which we will play as Asia closes the show.”
The designer confessed to have been “in love” with the actress for a long time. “I think she is a labyrinth woman,” he said backstage to Argento, who was sporting a gray embellished top and trousers designed by Grimaldi. “She’s my Ariadne.”

The collection mostly consisted of light colors. Spherical shapes and intricate embroideries hinted at the labyrinth theme, while a couple of flowing black and fuchsia dresses referenced the fiery love story. Models wore golden grids in front of their eyes, lending them a mysterious look. Gold insect-shaped jewelry

Just two years ago, Hannah Gavios lay injured after falling 150 feet from a cliff in Thailand — she didn’t think she’d live, let alone walk again. Now, she’s gearing up to complete the 2018 New York City Marathon.
On Sept. 1, 2016, Gavios fell from the cliff while trying to escape a man attempting to assault her in the southeast Asian country. As she fled the attacker, she fell and lay paralyzed. There, she was held hostage and assaulted for hours, she says.
She was later rescued but suffered a spinal cord injury from the fall. Gavios is now unable use her feet and toes, and her shins have nerve damage.
Her attacker was prosecuted and imprisoned.
“After the news of my injury, one of the most devastating things to hear was I’m unable to run, let alone walk,” Gavios, 25, tells PEOPLE. “But I needed to run again, so I thought the closest thing to that is crutching. I could participate in the race and use what I have to the fullest.”
Earlier this year, while still undergoing intense physical therapy, Gavios decided to participate in the annual marathon. She learned about Amanda Sullivan, who completed the race on crutches in the past, and was inspired to take on the feat herself.

“I began training at the end of March. I’d just go out for an hour, the longest I’ve ever is seven hours,” Gavios, a graphic designer in New York City, says.
“The best part of my training is getting into it and having fun with it. The hardest part is stamina, being able to keep it up for as long as possible. There are times I start to ache and my whole body hurts. But I proved to myself that I’m stronger than I think.”
Gavios has joined Team Reeve (of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation) and has raised more than $ 16,000 for the foundation, which supports people living with paralysis and funds research to find a cure. With the race just days away, Gavios says she’s “excited” to participate and start on her next challenge.
“I feel very prepared. I feel like finally the day is coming after all of this effort and energy,” she tells PEOPLE. “My long term goals are to run again. It’s not really over, I have more work to do and more mysteries to solve about spinal cord energy. I want to participate in the cause.”

Erica Huston-Elem and Katelin Buchanan have been best friends since birth.
“Our mom’s were best friends! Her mom is my godmother … we grew up very much like family,” Huston-Elem, 34, tells PEOPLE. “We just grew up together like siblings. Our friendship has been more than a friendship, it’s a sisterhood. We’ve been there through all our life’s experiences.”
As the best friends grew older, they celebrated milestones and major life events together, like graduations and even marriage. Huston-Elem welcomed two children — now ages 7 and 4 — but for Buchanan, the road to motherhood proved to be difficult. She’s suffered several miscarriages and has gone through many unsuccessful rounds of in vitro fertilization (IVF).
“Over a number of years, there was a lot of loss and heartache on her part. For me, as her best friend, watching her go through that and feeling completely helpless, it was a really difficult situation,” Huston-Elem tells PEOPLE.
She recalls a 2015 conversation with Buchanan: “The moment I realized I could do something more to actually help her and volunteer to carry her babys for her was something I felt very passionate about. I told her … ‘I’d be more than willing to do it for you.’”
Later, Buchanan, of California, learned from doctors that she is unable to carry a baby to term. With that, Huston-Elem jumped into action, and the best friends began preparing for the surrogacy process with Huston-Elem as Buchanan’s gestational carrier.
By 2017, Huston-Elem was carrying twin babies for her best friend.
“Katelin and I talked a million times a day . It brought us really close — even closer than we were before,” she tells PEOPLE. “We celebrated each milestone. The pregnancy was really, really joyful.”
Huston-Elem credits her support system for the smooth pregnancy, praising her employer, Deloitte, which allowed her 16 weeks of paid maternity leave. She says her coworkers even sent her flowers during her time in the hospital.
On March 20, Huston-Elem gave birth to Poppy and Oliver Buchanan at 35 weeks. The excited mom and her husband were in the delivery room for the birth.
“The mood in the room was so happy. When those twins came out and they got handed to Katelin and her husband, it was honestly one of the best moments of my life,” she gushes. “It was so wonderful. It was like, okay, mission accomplished!”
The babies remained in the Virginia hospital for several weeks, and Buchanan was able to take the twins to their California home earlier this month — just in time for Mother’s Day.
“All of this was so worth it to see as a mother. She has wanted this for so long and it’s so natural to her. She is so amazing with those twins and so loving and everything I always knew she would be,” Huston-Elem tells PEOPLE of Buchanan. “Seeing her happy … has just been the greatest joy of my life.”

At 514 lbs., Chrissy Dunham worries every day that she’s about to die.
The 30-year-old already struggles to walk, and doesn’t feel like she has much of a life.
“My weight has gotten so bad that everything hurts. My joints, my back, my shoulders, my feet and my legs,” Dunham says in this clip from Friday’s episode of The Doctors. “I’m not going to be able to maneuver for much longer.”
She says that her weight has “taken everything away” from her life.
“You want to be active and go out with your friends and do these things,” Dunham says, adding that instead, “you see your friends and family compromising to accommodate you, and you feel that burden.”
And with a body mass index of 80 — double what is considered morbidly obese — Dunham isn’t sure if she’ll make it to her 35th birthday.
“There’s so many nights that I lay there going, is this the night that I’m going to die?” she says. “There’s going to be a day when I’m just not there.”
Her mortality is why Dunham says she’s ready to make a change.
“I think the moment was, ‘Okay, I want to have a future,’ ” she says. “When your fear of getting better is just overwhelming, and where you can’t think that far in advance, because what kind of future do I have if I just keep going the way I’m going?”
With the help of Dr. Travis Stork and The Doctors, Dunham is ready for a weight loss intervention.
“I want to be a different person,” she says.

A Florida woman was kidnapped and killed in what police are calling a murder-for-hire plot gone awry.
In a press conference held on Friday night, Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson revealed that the plot began after Ishnar Marie Lopez-Ramos, 35, allegedly hired Alexis Ramos-Rivera, 22, and his girlfriend Glorianmarie Quinones-Montes, 22, to murder a woman who was in a relationship with a man that Lopez-Ramos was in love with, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
The murder was planned and executed between Jan. 7 and “the early morning hours of the 8th.”
According to police, the suspects were able to track the woman to a store at a shopping center in Osceola County. However, once there, the suspects mistakenly identified Janice Zengotita-Torres, 42, as the “intended target when she left the store.”
PEOPLE’s request for additional comment from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was not immediately returned.
Not realizing their mistake, “the suspects followed the victim to her apartment and in the parking lot they forcibly put the victim into the back of her own vehicle and they drove away,” Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson explained.
• Want to keep up with the latest crime coverage? Click here to get breaking crime news, ongoing trial coverage and details of intriguing unsolved cases in the True Crime Newsletter.
The suspects then allegedly drove to a nearby bank where they obtained Zengotita-Torres’ ATM card and pin code.
After Lopez-Ramos allegedly “withdrew money from the victim’s account,” the suspects drove back to the victim’s apartment in Orlando. While Quinones-Montes went into the victim’s apartment, Lopez-Ramos and Ramos-Rivera “realized that they had mistakingly taken the wrong person.”
“However, the suspects continued with their plan of murder and allegedly tied the victim with zip ties and then her head in duct tape and garbage bags,” Gibson continued.
After Ramos-Rivera allegedly “began beating the victim until she was unconscious,” the three suspects drove the victim’s vehicle to Ormond Beach, where they dumped her body. They then allegedly drove back to Orlando before leaving the victim’s vehicle in Orange County.
According to police, the victim died “from suffocation.”
Police said Zengotita-Torres’ husband contacted the sheriff’s office on the morning of Jan. 8 to report her missing.
The body of a woman found at Ormond Beach on Jan. 8 was “positively identified as Janice Zengotita-Torres” two days later, police said.
• For more compelling true crime coverage, follow our Crime magazine on Flipboard.
Police said the first suspect they apprehended was Lopez-Ramos, who was caught “while she was attempting to use the ATM card of the victim.” After she was brought back to the sheriff’s office, Lopez-Ramos gave “a full confession” and named the two other suspects.
After the police apprehended Ramos-Rivera and Quinones-Montes, they also gave full confessions.
According to police, “all three confirmed that this was a murder-for-hire and the victim was mistakingly targeted and murdered.”
“I get emotional because it touches me so deeply that one of our citizens was killed in such a manner over a mistaken identification and in the end it appears to be a lover’s triangle,” Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson continued at the press conference held on Friday.
According to online jail records, Lopez-Ramos, Ramos-Rivera and Quinones-Montes are currently housed in Osceola County Jail and face charges of premeditated first-degree murder. No attorneys are listed for all three suspects.

Selena Gomez proved she’s fierce in every way on Thursday night as she accepted her award for Billboard’s 2017 Woman of the Year. In addition to stunning the audience with her heartfelt acceptance speech honoring her BFF and kidney donor, Francia Raisa, the 25-year-old singer also blew everyone away with her sexy statement outfit.
Gomez continued her trend of wearing leather on the red-carpet with a pair of high-waisted leather trousers that featured sexy cut-outs up and down her legs and cool gold zipper hardware at the ankles. She adorned her Versace pants with a Western-inspired gold buckled belt that paired nicely with her gold embellished strappy heels. To complete her look, the “Wolves” singer opted for a strapless black top that highlighted her cleavage with scalloped edging.
The actress rocked her new blonde hue, which she debuted at the American Music Awards, by pulling it into a messy up-do that featured pretty curls framing her face. But ultimately Gomez let her outfit have the spotlight by keeping her accessories and makeup to a minimum—a simple pair of gold hoops and a nude lip pull the look together.
At Billboard’s Women in Music event, Gomez sobbed as she received the award from Raisa and thanked her for saving her life when she needed a kidney transplant due to her lupus. “I think Francia should be getting this award,” the singer said breaking down in tears. “She saved my life… I feel incredibly lucky.”

For decades, Sylvia Kewer’s family thought she was dead.
Kewer, who was adopted as a toddler, grew up in Emporia, Virginia, believing she was an only child. All of that changed in August when she learned she has four half-siblings.
“ was saying her whole life she didn’t know what she was. She kept saying, ‘What am I?’ ” Kewer’s daughter, Natalie Graves Tucker, tells PEOPLE.
“Here she is thinking she’s alone all these years and doesn’t know her story … She’s always been a loner and here she has four siblings with children and grandchildren!”
On Nov. 11, Kewer met her half-siblings (and dozens of other family members) at a sweet reunion in Abingdon. Tucker rented a home for the family where they had a cookout and shared old photographs.
“It was a culmination of pictures and conversations and emails that we’ve had with the family over the past few months. It was exciting,” Tucker says. “They just opened their arms with love and so it couldn’t have happened any better. I couldn’t have planned it any better.”
Kewer spent a day and half with her newfound siblings: Billy Ray, 63, Nancy Goode-O’Donnell, 69, Ralph Duff and Curtis Duff, 72.
Tucker says the reunion left her mother feeling loved, she recalls Kewer saying: “I feel whole, reborn, refreshed and stronger than ever.”
The siblings’ reunion was months in the making, and it all began with a DNA test on Ancestry.com. Tucker and Kewer submitted tests and soon learned that their DNA matched that of several other people — including Ray’s son.
“When I told her that her brother wanted to FaceTime her, she was just like, ‘Oh my God! Oh my God!’ ” Tucker tells PEOPLE. “It’s just so amazing for her. She’s like there’s no longer a question mark. ‘I know who I am and I know what I am.’ ”
Tucker, Ray and Kewer began communicating and, over the next few months, Tucker says she received Facebook messages from cousins, nieces, nephews and more, all eager to attend the cookout Tucker had planned for the family’s reunion.
As the family met and exchanged stories at the rental home from Crooked Cabin Properties, they began to piece together Kewer’s story.
Many of the siblings went their separate ways as children, one was raised by a grandmother, another by their father, and others were adopted. Kewer’s four half-siblings had long known about each other, and reunited at their mother’s funeral in the ’80s.
However, Kewer, born Dorothy Mae Goode, was the mystery.
“Billy found and everybody kept saying, ‘I guess Dorothy was dead,” Tucker tells PEOPLE. “My mom only remembers an orphanage and she remembers my grandparents coming to get her.”
Now that Kewer has found her family, she never plans to let them go. Tucker says the siblings exchanged phone numbers, noting that Kewer talks to her half-sister Nancy almost every day.
“There is talk about having another get together next year in the spring or the summer,” Tucker tells PEOPLE. “Everybody wants to get together next year.”
Sneak Peek of Family Portrait: Ben & Daniel’s Road to Adoption
She adds of her mother: “Now that she has everybody’s information, she definitely plans to connect with everybody.”
With the reunion, Tucker says a special bond was formed between Kewer and Nancy.
“Her and her sister just stuck together like glue when they were there,” Tucker tells PEOPLE.

Angelika Graswald, the New York woman who pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide in the drowning death of her fiancé as they kayaked on the Hudson River in 2015, was sentenced Wednesday to 15 months to four years in state prison, her attorney confirms to PEOPLE.
Graswald had faced murder charges in the death of Vincent Viafore, 46, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge in July.
Graswald’s attorney, Richard Portale, previously told PEOPLE he expects her to be home as early as next month due to time served since her arrest in April of 2015.
At the sentencing, Viafore’s sister, Laura Rice, told Judge Robert Freehill that she thinks of her brother’s “last moments alive…and I visualize him trying to survive hypothermia in the freezing cold river, confused and not understanding why the woman who said she loved him and wanted to marry him did nothing to help him,” reports the Poughkeepsie Journal.
Viafore drowned on April 19, 2015 in the Hudson River after his kayak capsized in rough seas and windy conditions. He and Graswald were kayaking back to the mainland from an afternoon on Bannerman Island, an island in the Hudson River in Dutchess County.
Ten days later, Graswald was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter after police said she told them she removed a plug from the kayak to destabilize it and had taken a connector off the paddle.
Once Viafore was in the river, prosecutors said Graswald pulled Viafore’s paddle away from him as he fought for his life, then waited until he had drowned before calling 911.
The motive was $ 250,000 in life insurance policies, prosecutors said.
In her plea deal to the reduced charges, Graswald admitted she knew that the locking clip to Viaforte’s kayak paddle was missing, that he was not wearing a life vest or a wet suit, and that the waters in the Hudson River were dangerously cold and rough at the time.
But it was Graswald’s lack of urgency in seeking help for Viafore after he entered the freezing April waters that Judge Freehill said led to Viafore’s death.
• Want to keep up with the latest crime coverage? Click here to get breaking crime news, ongoing trial coverage and details of intriguing unsolved cases in the True Crime Newsletter.
“It was the immediate act of your being in your kayak and Vincent floundering in the water, and you taking no action to help him,” Freehill said, according to the Times-Herald Record.
Graswald has long maintained her innocence regarding the murder charges. In a statement her attorney released after the sentencing hearing, Graswald said: “I am not a murderer. I’ve said that from the beginning. If I could do anything to bring Vince back, I would.”
Graswald is a native of Latvia, and Viafore’s family wants Graswald deported after she finishes her sentence — a sentence they feel is far too short, the Poughkeepsie Journal reports.
In an interview with reporters after the hearing, Viafore’s mother, Mary Ann Viafore, told reporters that “justice was not served for my son. Four years for taking someone’s life? No way.”

Sam Smith doesn’t need labels.
In a candid interview with The Sunday Times, the English singer opened up his gender identity, saying he doesn’t consider himself a cisgender man.
“I don’t know what the title would be, but I feel just as much woman as I am man,” he elaborated.
Smith explained that he likes dressing in drag, revealing that he hits up the Australian drag shop House of Priscilla whenever he’s in Sydney, Australia.
“Oh, my god, I just buy everything — heels, dresses,” he said. “We have a great time.”
And this habit is nothing new. The 25-year-old crooner said he used to head to school in women’s clothing as a teen.
“There was one moment in my life where I didn’t own a piece of male clothing, really,” he said. “I would wear full make-up every day in school, eyelashes, leggings with Dr. Martens and huge fur coats, for 2 ½ years.”

Smith also opened up about coming out as gay, saying, “Looking back on it, it was the fear of saying the wrong thing and offending … And I was 19 when I started writing the first album. I’d just moved to London from a village — I was literally the only gay in the village. I didn’t know what I wanted to say.”
The singer also teased fans with a hint of what his new album Thrill of It All, dropping on Nov. 3, holds.
“I think they show my growth, my confidence. I feel like they show me,” he said. “They show the gay guy I’ve become.”
Earlier this month, Smith attended a performance of the Broadway hit Dear Evan Hansen — and rumored new boyfriend Brandon Flynn was also there.
His theater outing comes after he was pictured kissing and holding hands with the 13 Reasons Why star while out in Greenwich Village earlier in the day.

A Texas woman is accused of shooting her boyfriend in the head while he was sleeping and then dismembering his body and tossing the remains in area dumpsters, PEOPLE confirms.
Cierra Alexis Sutton, 30, was arrested Thursday in connection with the Aug. 16 slaying of 32-year-old Steven Coleman and is charged with murder.
She is in custody in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, pending extradition back to Harris County, Texas. She has not entered a plea and it is unclear if she has retained an attorney.
Sutton’s friends reportedly claimed to police that she confessed to shooting Coleman in the head while he was sleeping in their Baytown, Texas, apartment after which she cut him up into pieces with a machete, wrapped up his body parts in sheets and duct tape and disposed of them.
Six days after the slaying, police discovered the pelvis of a man — from mid-thigh to belly button — in a local landfill but are still waiting for DNA results. “We don’t know definitely if it is our guy yet,” Baytown police Lt. Steve Dorris tells PEOPLE. “But it is safe to say it is our suspicion.”
Sutton’s arrest has shocked at least one of the couple’s neighbors. “There’s always been smiles, talk, no signs of anything that would indicate something like this,” Donald Wooten told local TV station KHOU.
The case came to light after Sutton filed a missing persons report on Aug. 18, two days after the killing. Sutton told police that she’d last seen Coleman, an aspiring rapper, around 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 16, when he left home to find his daughter, according to a probable cause statement obtained by PEOPLE.
Coleman’s two cars were still at the Briarwood Village Apartments, she allegedly told police.
But a friend told police that she spoke to Coleman on the day he disappeared and he’d said was going to stop by her house — though he never showed up. The same friend said that Coleman mentioned on numerous occasions that “if he was ever to go missing she needed to make sure the police looked into as the cause,” according to the probable cause statement.

The probable cause statement notes that, the day after the homicide, a woman matching Sutton’s description used Coleman’s credit card to buy a memory foam bed-topper and a package of duct tape from Wal-Mart.
On Aug. 24, police executed a search warrant on the couple’s one-bedroom apartment and found traces of blood on the floor next to the bed as well as on a bed sheet, on the bathroom floor and sink and in the kitchen.
As the investigation continued, police tried to interview Sutton but she disappeared.
“Shortly after she reported him missing, we called her to do an interview and she didn’t show up for that and fell off the grid and wouldn’t call us back,” says Lt. Dorris. “That was a red flag for us.”
• PEOPLE’s special edition True Crime Stories: 35 Real Cases That Inspired the Show Law & Order is on sale now.
Police caught a break after they received a call from a tipster who told them that Sutton had allegedly confessed to Sutton’s brother’s girlfriend. The girlfriend told detectives that Sutton showed up at their house in Louisiana in early September after Hurricane Harvey.
Sutton allegedly admitted to putting the wrapped-up body parts of her boyfriend in her Jeep and taking them to different trash dumpsters.
Sutton’s best friend also told police that Sutton called her the morning after the alleged shooting and confessed that she had been arguing with Coleman and shot him while her 10-year-old daughter Trinity was in the living room.
Interviewed after her arrest, Sutton showed “no emotion, no remorse,” Dorris says. “She indicated she was present when it happened.”
Sutton allegedly told her friend she cut Coleman’s body up after killing him because she couldn’t carry him — he was too heavy in one piece.

Even before her journey on The Bachelorette began, Rachel Lindsay made a personal commitment to stay true to her heart.
As the first black lead in Bachelor Nation history, Lindsay admittedly felt the pressure to choose a black man from her pool of contestants.
“It wasn’t always easy. It wasn’t. But I had to not let the pressure get to me,” Lindsay, 32, tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “I had to rise above it to find my happy ending at the end of all of this.”
“I knew that people would be watching myself in this role for the first time, and there would be people who were positive and people who were negative, and I would feel pressure from certain audiences that would say you ‘had to pick a black man.’ And then I would have other audiences that didn’t care about that,” Lindsay shares.
“But for me, before I said yes to being the Bachelorette I had to get over . I had to realize that not everyone was going to be for me when it came to the decisions that I make. Not everyone was going to be happy about my decisions, but I needed to be selfish in this journey and find the one who was perfect for me,” Lindsay explains. “I couldn’t make a decision based on anyone else because I’m the one who’s going to have to live with it.”
And new fiancé Bryan Abasolo couldn’t be prouder of how the Dallas-born lawyer portrayed herself on the show. “Such strength, class and grace,” says Abasolo, who got down on one knee and proposed to Lindsay on Monday night’s season 13 finale.
For more on Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay’s engagement to Bryan Abasolo, including their thoughts on their big debut and plan for the future, pick up this week’s issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday
Reflecting on their romance, the newly engaged couple says that race never played a factor in them falling in love.
“Love is blind,” says Miami-based chiropractor Abasolo.
“I’m not going to pick somebody because they look a certain way. I could’ve done that without doing the show. I really put my all in this because I was trying to find that one for me. I was trying to find my person — the person who I want to spend the rest of my life with — and I can’t let color dictate that,” says Lindsay. ”
“I can’t be blindsided by the fact that I have to choose this person because they look the same way that I do. That’s not fair. That’s not what love is about. That doesn’t define love. It’s not my definition of love,” she continues. “My definition of love is sitting right next to me. So it was really important for me to not do that. Everything else was background noise and I was just zeroed in on finding that person for me.”
Now that the couple no longer has to keep their engagement under wraps, and will now be able spend time with one another in public, they realize their lives will be propelled into spotlight.

Still, they’re not intimidated about being in a high-profile interracial relationship — or any criticism that may result from others’ biases.
“Honestly, we don’t even think about it or talk about it. I mean, we’re just a man and a woman in love. We just want to enjoy life,” Abasolo shares. “I just think we’re two mature adults, that we can handle anything moving forward. Communication is a big key.”
Adds Lindsay, “I think we’re both strong enough to rise above whatever criticism we may face by being an interracial couple. But between the two of us, we had those tough questions during the season. I know that he is capable of handling it, as am I. For us, we just love each other.”

A woman who accused Bill Cosby of sexually assaulting her in 2008 was arrested on Sunday after allegedly bringing heroin to a California jail, reports say.
Chloe Goins, 27, faces charges of possessing a controlled substance and bringing alcohol or drugs in prison after police allegedly found her outside the George F. Bailey Detention Center in Otay Mesa with a drug believed to be heroin in her car, The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
She was booked into the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility on $ 25,000 bail, according to NBC San Diego. It wasn’t immediately clear if she has entered a plea or retained an attorney.
Goins was parked outside the jail that night when a deputy approached her about an alleged vehicle violation, a police spokesman told the Associated Press.
It is unclear Goins went into the buildings with the drugs police allege she had, the official said.
Judge Declares Mistrial in Bill Cosby Sexual Assault Case After Jury Says They Are ‘Hopelessly Deadlocked’
The model alleged that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her at a Playboy Mansion party in 2008 when she was 18. She claimed she felt dizzy and sick to her stomach after Cosby allegedly gave her a drink. She alleged the embattled comedian escorted her to a room where she lost consciousness before waking up with her clothes off to find Cosby biting one of her toes.

Cosby denied the allegations. Goins ultimately dropped her civil suit against him.
Goins was just one of dozens of women who accused Cosby of sexual misconduct; Cosby has denied all the allegations. He stood trial earlier this year after being accused of drugging and sexually assaulting former Temple University employee Andrea Constand at his Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, mansion in January 2004.
In June, a Pennsylvania judge granted a mistrial after the jury had announced that they were “hopelessly deadlocked” for the second time in the trial — the first trial ended with a hung jury.
A judge has since scheduled a retrial to begin on Nov. 6.

Three children were hospitalized in Ohio Saturday night after a shooter allegedly opened fire on a gender reveal party in Cincinnati, killing one woman and injuring nine total, according to multiple reports.
Police arrived at the home on Capstan Drive at around 11:20 p.m. to find a woman dead on the floor, the Cincinnatti Enquirer reports. The children were taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Of the remaining injured, only one was in serious condition, police told the Enquirer.
“Two guys just came in and shot people in the house,” a woman outside the home at the time told a dispatcher during a frantic 911 call, according to WCPO.
“There was little kids hurt and everything. I was sitting in my car. They just ran in and started shooting. There’s a pregnant girl here.”
Although there is no one in custody, police said 911 calls and radio logs indicate that there may have been two shooters, WCPO reports.

As a transgender woman, Shauna Brooks was willing to undergo any plastic surgery to look more feminine — even from questionable sources. But now with cheek implants gone wrong, she needs the Botched doctors’ help.
Brooks says she had silicone injected into her cheeks to keep up with societal standards.
“When I was 14 years old, I started a black market hormone therapy. In the black urban community, the transgenders get silicone pumped in their cheeks, in their breasts and their ass,” Brooks tells Drs. Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif in this exclusive clip from Sunday’s episode.
But when she went back to the doctors to have them reshape her face, Brooks found out that she can’t have further surgery because of the silicone.
“Then I learned about facial feminization and I wanted to do it here in America. And when I told the doctors I had silicone in my face, he said no. That’s when I went to Thailand, and the doctors said, ‘I will saw your cheekbone,’ ” Brooks explains.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. That’s another dangerous procedure,” Dr. Dubrow cuts in. “There are so many good plastic surgeons in this country, and medicine generally is the safest that it can be anywhere in the world. So you should never go outside the United States for any surgical procedure.”
Plus, Dr. Nassif explains, the silicone likely caused permanent damage.
“Injecting anything permanent into any part of your body is a bad thing. Injecting silicone destroys the underlying tissue by causing a severe inflammatory response and becomes a chronic problem,” he says.
But Brooks says she needs some solution, as she’s experiencing problems with one of her cheek implants.
“As the year went on, this right cheek just would not stop . I think it’s too big,” she says. “When I smile, I think it’s just too big.”
Dr. Dubrow says it may be too hazardous to correct.
“We always wonder — at what cost, if we go in there,” he tells Brooks. “If there’s a hole here, right through bone of the skull, where important sensory nerve comes out, if you bugger up that nerve you can’t move. It’s dead, and there’s no going back.”
Find out what Brooks and the doctors decide on the next episode of Botched, airing Sunday at 9/8 p.m. on E!

A woman in Grand Rapids, Mi. said she was recently kicked out of a shopping mall because another customer complained to mall security about her outfit.
The outfit in question? Shorts and a tank top.
Hannah Pewee posted a photo of her outfit on Facebook after being kicked out of Grand Rapids’ Woodland Mall on Saturday. In the photo, she wears what any woman might wear on a 90-degree day in June: a “Finding Nemo” tank top, jean shorts, and ballet flats.
“As many of you know, it is NINETY degrees outside today in West Michigan,” Pewee wrote in the Facebook post.
“So, of course, I decided to dress for the weather: shorts and a tank top. But apparently, how I was dressed … was too slutty for the public, as I was kicked out of the Woodland Mall today. Yup. Apparently some anonymous person reported me to MALL SECURITY for inappropriate dress and I was kicked out.”
Pewee’s post went viral over the weekend, with more than 4,000 likes and close to 9,000 shares. She said in the post that experience was so humiliating she “almost cried.”
“I am so angry right now I’m shaking,” she wrote. “I felt so embarrassed I almost cried. All because a stranger didn’t like how I dressed.
Pewee wrote two follow-up Facebook posts after the initial incident. First, she thanked the Facebook community for their support and kind words, and in the second, she confirmed that a manager from Woodland Mall called her to apologize.
“So I talked on the phone with the someone on the management team at Woodland and they apologized for what happened yesterday,” she wrote. “Apparently they’re going to revise their clothing policy on their website so it is clearer what is and isn’t acceptable. In addition, security will be discussing how to properly handle situations like this.”
The Woodland Mall website policy page currently has vague language about what clothing constitutes as “inappropriate.”
“Appropriate attire, including shirts and shoes, is required,” the policy guidelines read. “Clothing with inappropriate words, phrases or graphics is not permitted and is subject to mall management approval.”
HuffPost has reached out to both Pewee and representatives of Woodland Mall for comment and clarification, and will update this piece accordingly.

Ariana Grande‘s inspiring cover of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” has become a permanent part of the singers’ Dangerous Woman tour, which resumed on Wednesday night in Paris — more than two weeks after it was suspended following the deadly Manchester terrorist attack.
The 23-year-old star took the stage at the AccorHotels Arena for a high-energy return, making her way through hits like “Problem,” “Side to Side,” and “Break Free” — with boyfriend Mac Miller even joining her for “One Last Time.”
But towards the end of her show, she stripped away much of the stage theatrics to perform the emotional “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” — smoking filling the stage and the logo to her One Love Manchester benefit concert (a ribbon with the singer’s signature bunny ears on top) simply behind her.
The crowd appeared to be equally moved by the song on Wednesday as they were at Sunday’s One Love Manchester concert, where she first premiered the cover of the Wizard of Oz tune.
The star-studded charity concert in Manchester was held in honor of the 22 people who were killed and more than 100 who were injured on May 22 after a suicide bomber detonated an improvised explosive device minutes after her concert ended.
Performers from Pharrell Williams, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Niall Horan, Robbie Williams, the Black Eyed Peas, Marcus Mumford and Katy Perry joined Grande to raise $ 13 million for those affected.

A live recording of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” captured at One Love Manchester has been released on multiple streaming platforms as a charity single, with all proceeds going to Manchester victims. The singer also released a 39-song One Love Manchester album, now available on Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal and etc.
Adding the track into her set for the remainder of Grande’s tour is just one of the ways she’s continuing to honor the victims of the attack. On Wednesday before her show, the singer instagrammed a message to fans saying that she’d be “thinking of our angels every step of the way.”
After the concert, she captioned a photo of herself performing, “Merci, Paris Je t’aime. Grateful to be back.”

Grande’s Dangerous Woman tour was originally postponed to “further assess the situation and pay proper respects to those lost,” the singer’s management previously told PEOPLE in a statement.
Continued tour stops are scheduled throughout Europe for Grande in June, with South America following in July and Japan and Australia among set destinations in August.

With a record-breaking opening weekend and stellar reviews, Wonder Woman is certainly having a moment. And while some men nationwide are having temper tantrums about women-only screenings of the female-led film, other men are totally aware of how fantastic the film, and its leading lady, really are. So, who’s the newest dude to hop on the Wonder Woman train? None other than the one who plays Marvel Comics’ Thor, Chris Hemsworth.
Wonder Woman’s lead actress Gal Gadot paid a visit to Katie Couric, and used the opportunity to call out Hemsworth and ask him if he thinks her Wonder Woman would win a fight against his Thor. (Check it out in the video below.)
Hemsworth responded accordingly on Twitter, saying that he thinks Wonder Woman would, in fact, “kick Thor’s a**.”
And the conversation didn’t stop there. Couric agreed and Gadot followed up, saying she “always knew” Hemsworth was a “smart guy,” and suggesting that their two worlds ought to collide.
We’ll be waiting with the popcorn.

As “Wonder Woman” garners stellar ratings and remains on track for a record-breaking opening weekend, a Fox News panel is conducting a deep dive into a critical matter: Is the Amazonian princess American enough?
Fox host Neil Cavuto noted on Friday to guest Dion Baia that “some” have been taking issue with the film’s alleged lack of patriotism — chiefly, that the superhero’s costume color scheme is too un-American.
“Some are calling it less American, Dion, because, well, her outfit isn’t red, white, and blue, and, in order to appeal for foreign audiences, very little reference to America at all,” said the “Your World With Neil Cavuto” host.
“I think, nowadays, sadly, money trumps patriotism,” Baia replied. “Especially, recently, I personally feel like we’re not really very patriotic, the country, in a certain sense. And they want these movies to succeed internationally, you know, so they’re going to dial back.”
Fellow guest Mike Gunzelman lamented that he feels “it’s cool to hate America these days.”
Baia, for his part, said his comments have been misconstrued. “Taken outta context much?” he tweeted Saturday, referencing an Entertainment Weekly article that characterized him as being “upset” with the movie (probably because he used the word “sadly.”)
He maintained he was simply explaining why he believes the movie’s American patriotism was “toned down.”
But in any case, criticism of Gadot’s costume as not looking “American” is a little weak.
A red, blue and gold color combination is still fairly reminiscent of the American flag. Gold is often incorporated into patriotic decorations and accessories, and sometimes used in place of white.
The original comic and Lynda Carter’s iconic Wonder Woman costume from the 1970s TV series both included more gold than white.
Yes, Gadot’s Wonder Woman is not wearing a bottom piece adorned with little white stars, but she is wearing a top with an emblem of an eagle, which is, you know, a major symbol for the United States.
Plus, the actual plot of the movie involves Wonder Woman teaming up with an American pilot to stop German forces, which makes equating it with “hating America” a bit of a stretch.
Whatever. There have been worse takes on the movie.

Men on the internet will leave no female-fronted blockbuster unturned. Until a few days ago, the fervor surrounding “Wonder Woman,” which opens this weekend after two decades of false starts and personnel changes, felt tame on the grown-males-whining front. As long as Wonder Woman isn’t busting ghosts, she’ll be fine. Unless, of course, a theater announces no-boys-allowed screenings. Then it’s war.
It seems the folks responsible for “Wonder Woman” anticipated a macho tussle somewhere along the movie’s Amazonian journey to the big screen. After all, the internet provides well-trod platforms for fanboys ― and I do mean boys ― who are hyper-reactive to any feminine updates to their childhood staples. Wonder Woman, as an entity, should have been bulletproof, considering the strong-willed heroine dates back to her 1941 DC Comics debut, which spawned multiple animated adaptations and the popular 1970s television series starring Lynda Carter. Oh, we of little faith. Patty Jenkins, the first woman to direct a major superhero movie, and screenwriter Allan Heinberg surely foresaw the same juvenile gender divide that haunts the Hollywood franchise machine. Never devolving into a didactic sermon about feminism, “Wonder Woman” chides its male mudslingers with humor and grace.
Once the titular Amazon princess (Gal Gadot), known colloquially as Diana Prince, leaves her remote island to join Army captain Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) on World War I’s virile London battleground, her self-empowering seclusion clashes with the modern metropolis’ heteronormative standards. (Mind you, this comes after Diana and her fleet massacre the German soldiers who’ve washed ashore with Steve.) Having grown up surrounded only by warrior women, Diana carries no baggage about how she should behave in relation to male acquaintances. As she and Steve set sail, he says it’s only appropriate that he sleep in separate quarters of the boat. Diana can’t understand why it should matter ― temptation is of no concern to her, even as their chemistry simmers. Steve assumes this means she is unschooled in carnal matters, but oh no: Diana knows all about “reproductive biology” and “pleasures of the flesh,” having read “all 12 volumes of Cleo’s treatises on body and pleasure.” This yields her fiercest conclusion about the weaker sex: Men are essential for procreation but expendable in matters of bliss, erotic or otherwise.
Without devaluing its penis-toting characters, “Wonder Woman” continues this soft battle of the sexes across its 2.5-hour runtime. Diana becomes our surrogate for a world where women don’t even entertain the expectations of men. When she’s introduced to Steve’s “secretary,” the plucky Etta Candy (Lucy Davis), whose duties entail whatever Steve asks of her, Diana likens the role to slavery. During her plot to stop the god Ares from wreaking more wartime havoc, Diana scolds a pompous general for not fighting alongside his troops, like the matrons of her native Themyscira would. At every turn, dudes inform her that circumstances are too “dangerous.” Nevertheless, she persists, aided by her signature Lasso of Truth, god-killing sword and bullet-shielding bracelets. When Diana is prepared to execute the man she thinks is Ares, Steve tells her, “I can’t let you do that.” “What I do is not up to you,” she counters. She doesn’t need textbook feminism because she’d never conceptualized a pretense where men were superior in the first place. In Diana’s universe, an all-women movie screening would be another ordinary night out.
By the time Diana disrobes to reveal her tightly cropped Wonder Woman suit in all its glory, it is an act of power. She runs circles around the boys who tell her they “can’t save everyone in this war.” It comes as no surprise that the woman in “Wonder Woman” remains the victor, but Jenkins and Heinberg effectively pepper the movie with a winking sense of humor about the number of gents who doubt Diana’s facilities. Gadot and Pine are in on the joke too, tempering their performances so gamely that “Wonder Woman” almost becomes a buddy comedy. The final 20 minutes disintegrate into the same noisy CGI spectacle that concludes all comic-book movies, but this particular superhero outing is judicious and charming enough to rise above its genre hurdles.
Whether the angry internet men-children will skip “Wonder Woman” because of the Alamo Drafthouse screening or any other gender-related nonsense ― well, who cares, really. Advance tracking for the movie’s opening weekend indicates heftier interest among male moviegoers than female moviegoers, according to The Hollywood Reporter, so the sound and fury will likely amount to little. Jenkins, who is best known for the Charlize Theron vehicle “Monster,” isn’t trying to prove anything other than her (already proven) ability to make a quality movie. On that front, she has succeeded. For added kicks, she also trolled the men who would doubt her along the way. Wonderful, woman.
“Wonder Woman” opens June 2.

This is a super-powered relief.
Following the critical failures of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Suicide Squad,” things weren’t looking good for the next installment in the DC Extended Universe, “Wonder Woman.”
Yeah, the trailers looked great, but remember how beloved the “Suicide Squad” trailer was? A lackluster movie can ruin a great trailer pretty fast. Claims from a supposed insider that the “Wonder Woman” movie was a “mess,” which director Patty Jenkins refuted, also didn’t help things.
But according to the initial social media reactions, Jenkins was right.
(Brush those haters off.)
“Wonder Woman” won’t be out for a couple more weeks, but critics’ first reactions to the movie are in, and they’re “fantastic.” They’ve called the movie “surprisingly good,” “absolutely empowering” and recounted stories of young girls at the screening emphatically saying, “YES!” (Aw!)
Wonder Woman herself, actress Gal Gadot, is also earning a lot of praise, being called a “legit movie star” and “perfect” in the role.
These reactions are a big win for fans of the comic character, for Warner Bros. and for young kids who can soon see a female superhero do what the guys recently couldn’t: kick butt and make a great DC movie.
See the reactions below:

When it comes to being engaged, Elyse Chelsea Clark is throwing caution to the wind, er, wing.
The New Orleans bartender is such a fan of Popeyes Chicken that she decided to do a series of engagement photos with her favorite fast food.
Then she posted the poultry-centered pics on Facebook with this note: “I’m finally engaged!”
The Popeyes engagement pics taken by photographer Whitney Tucker show Clark looking romantically at chicken boxes…
Strolling through the park with the object of her affection …
And smooching that box with the same passion that is typically reserved for love’s kiss.
Oh, and she likes the biscuits too.
The photos might be funny, but Clark’s passion for Popeyes is real and true.
“I have a really big love for Popeyes,” she told the New Orleans Times-Picayne. “I eat it all the time.”
The chain responded to Clark’s engagement spread with this tweet.

Solange Knowles is just as human as the rest of us.
In a Q&A with Cosmopolitan at a Coachella event this week, the Grammy-winning artist opened up about how even she feels the pressure that many women do in constantly having to be a “strong woman.”
“We as women face a lot of challenges on a daily basis,” she said. “We have to stand firm in our walk and our intentions — but there are absolutely times when that weight feels too heavy, feels like a load that I just can’t bear that day.”
And like the rest of us, she’s had to find her own way of dealing with that burden.
Her solution? Art.
“I try to work through that in my…art, whatever medium that might be,” she said.
“My live performance [which is going down in museums and festivals across the country] is based around the color red, and all the things that communicates as a woman to the world — fiery, really vocal, present, almost a kind of stubborn color — and redefining it as being very complex…Being able to express that complexity, [I’m getting] a lot better at that the older I’ve gotten.”
Fiery, vocal, present, and stubborn? Sounds good to us.

A Florida mother vacationing in London snapped a picture with police officer Keith Palmer just minutes before he was killed in Wednesday’s terror attack on Parliament.
Staci Martin said she was visiting London for the first time over spring break when she stumbled upon the 48-year-old officer wearing a “funny hat,” she told WPTV.
“I see his hat and I’m like, ‘I have to take a picture of him with his hat,” she told the station, noting that the attacks occurred less than an hour after the photo was taken. “We got in an Uber not even 15 seconds later, we turned to the corner and this guy came up to the window and was like, ‘there was a shooting, there was a shooting.”

Palmer was among four victims killed in the deadly car and knife attack outside U.K. Parliament. The assailant — identified by Scotland Yard as U.K. native Khalid Masood — careened through the area at about 2:40 p.m. local time, hitting dozens of pedestrians before crashing into the gate outside the Palace of Westminster.

He got out of the vehicle and stabbed Palmer before being killed by guards, authorities said. Scotland Yard is calling the incident terrorism.
Martin said she saw Palmer’s picture in media after the attack and couldn’t believe her eyes.
“They put his picture up and I said, ‘I think that’s the guy’ and my husband and daughter thought I was crazy,” she told WPTV. “We just couldn’t believe it.”
In the photo, Martin is shown smiling wide while Palmer, who appeared to be on duty at the time, gave a small smirk.
She wrote of the photo in a Facebook post, according to WFTS.
“At 1:52 p.m., we were walking passed Parliament and I saw an officer. I liked his funny hat so I asked him if we could take a picture … He was very polite,” she wrote.
“At 2:40 he was fatally stabbed by the terrorist and died leaving behind a wife and children.”

“You think if I had only been there a half an hour later in the exact spot,” she said. “You can call it God or fate or whatever you want to call it, it’s a little bit surreal for sure.”

Brie Larson is making history.
The Oscar-winning actress will reportedly play Victoria Woodhull, the United States’ first female presidential candidate, in a biopic of the same name.
Amazon Studios acquired the film project on which Larson will also serve as a producer, Deadline reported Wednesday.
Woodhull ran for presidency on the Equal Rights Party ticket in 1872, decades before women could even vote, according to Biography.com. A suffragette who fought for women’s rights on many fronts, Woodhull also published a journal with her sister to promote social reform and founded the first woman-run stock brokerage.
Larson, 27, has publicly advocated for women’s rights as her film career has blossomed.
She previously portrayed female empowerment in a different mode as a kidnapping and rape survivor in 2015’s “Room,” which won her a best actress Academy Award. She enjoyed box office success this year in “Kong: Skull Island.”
The Hollywood Reporter noted that Larson is also set to play Captain Marvel in a 2019 Disney and Marvel movie.

Charli Howard and Clementine Desseaux, the model powerhouse duo behind the body-positive All Woman Project, are back and better than ever with a new range of absolutely stunning imagery that proves beauty is not seen in just one size, age or race.
Howard, who was dropped from her modeling agency in 2015, has become a leader in the conversation surrounding inclusivity ever since. She launched the campaign with Desseaux back in September 2016 by way of a diverse, super sexy editorial featuring models of all different shapes, sizes and skin tones.
The second installment of the project teams up with Aerie, a brand known to advocate for inclusivity. Desseaux explained to The Huffington Post that the new series, featuring an even wider range of women, is “a whole new ballgame.”
“We took our imagery to another level and wanted to mix all the codes so they can finally blur and not be limited by what people expect from a body-positive campaign. We included diversity in a whole new way, from milky tones to ebony ones and teenage skins to mature ones. Our team is still all women but those women are real everyday heroes with some amazing stories to tell.”
Howard, Desseaux and Lawrence once again star in the images and are joined by the likes of a surfer, a fitness expert and a professor.
Calling the second installment proof that this is a “more permanent” effort rather than a “trend,” Desseaux also announced that All Woman Project has become a charity so it can “do more than only releasing diverse images. Now, we’re going to go out to schools with some of our team members from both campaigns and make a real change for girls, locally, where it’s the most needed.”
Sounds like there is still so much more to come from this rad, body-positive campaign, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.

Even though she had a privileged childhood, Gaby Ghorbani never got numb to the poverty surrounding her as a child growing up in Guadalajara, Mexico as she witnessed children begging or selling gum on the streets to put food on their tables.
“I would always give food away and when I got my driver’s license, I would see kids on the corner and I would ask “Are you hungry? Where is your Mommy?’ ” Ghorbani, 46, tells PEOPLE. “And they would say ‘Yes, I’m hungry. But I don’t know.’
” I would take them in my car to get something to eat and then drop them back off on the corner,” she says. “When I got caught, I got in so much trouble. My mother would get mad and say, ‘You can’t do that!’ And she would tell me I couldn’t help every one, so why even try?”
Undeterred, that drive to help others never abated, and when she immigrated to the United States when she was about 18, she began planting the seeds for Pledge to Humanity, an organization she founded in 2009 that inspires youths to make a difference both locally and globally. Groups are formed through schools, sport clubs and service organizations and perform acts of kindness.
Thousands of students have participated in the program. She works with kids to make sandwiches to donate to shelters, takes kids to spend time with the elderly or severely disable children and she organizes them to assemble and collect hundreds of care packages for veterans and the homeless. The projects are seemingly endless, from helping underprivileged kids from neighboring schools to spay and neuter clinics.
Globally, the organization has built schools in Third World countries and volunteers can travel to the places they have supported to see the fruits of their labor. The organization is growing nationwide as volunteers go away to college and start their own programs.
“Our children here live in a bubble, where they have access to so much,” says Skye Larch, principal of Rancho Romero Elementary school in Alamo. “The power behind this is that it develops empathy and compassion in the most natural of ways. They learn small deeds really impact someone’s life and extends beyond them.”
Ghorbani married at 20 and has two sons, Arman, 24 and Jovani, 14, and a daughter Natalia, 20, who all share her passion for helping others. Ghorbani would take her young children with her to give out food and gift cards to the needy. When they ate at restaurants, she would order meals and give them to people outside. Every international trip included handing out gifts to people less fortunate.
“I would think, ‘My children will know how they need to be part of the change we need to be and to be giving, loving and grateful citizens of the world,” says Ghorbani, of Alamo, California. “Out of all the things we do for our kids, the most important thing is to teach them to give of themselves.”
Ghorbani started taking some of her children’s friends with them on their outings to the tenderloin for many years. Although she was a successful entrepreneur and the wife of a prominent businessman, it wasn’t enough to fulfill her.
“Every day I thought, I would rather be helping in a soup kitchen,” she says. “I tell children what real success in life is not in monetary form, but being engaged in what is around you and caring for the needs of others without hesitation. Don’t do it as your good deed of the day, do it like breathing, because breathing is automatic and necessary.”
Ghorbani encourages students to “turn on their antennas” so they can locate people in need — from children who need a friend at school, to seniors who need help with their groceries. They sign a “kindness contract” to look for ways to help others.
One second grader who signed a contract excitedly told Ghorbani how he had told a friend on crutches that he would help him with whatever he needed.
“To go from that to global service is an attitude that ripples out,” she says.
Ghorbani says it all started with the intention of empowering children.
“I went to elementary schools and told them ‘You don’t know me and I don’t know you, but I know that you are capable and you have everything within you to make someone’s life better to be a blessing to someone else’ ” she says. “I told them, ‘You don’t have to be an adult. You don’t have to be rich. You don’t have to be famous or a super star or a sports star, to have an impact on someone today. Kids started listening and embraced that and it grew, grew, grew.”
One of those students was Kailey McKnight, 18, who says Ghorbani’s passion for helping other inspired her to start the San Ramon Valley High School club when she was just 14. The club has grown from about 10 members to more than 400. There are so many students wanting to participate that the club had to start a waiting list.
“I have a lot of friends I never thought would do community service and would never thought they would care about other people besides themselves,” says Kailey McKnight. “But they love doing it and keep signing up for more.”
Kailey’s mother Beth says she has never volunteered before becoming involved in Pledge to Humanity and now “she’s hooked.” “They say you can’t save everyone, but Gaby just might,” says Beth McKnight.
Jon Campopiano, principal at Stone Valley Middle School in Alamo, says Ghorbani’s son Jovani started a buddy program for kids who felt ostracized at school.
“He took these lunch periods, which can be long and awkward, and made it a time for the kids to all feel included,” Campolpiano says. “Middle schoolers are not known for their empathy, but Gaby and her son have made that happen almost effortlessly.”
All of this is music to Ghorbani’s ears.
“When we are gone from this earth, I want to think that Pledge to Humanity will have hundreds of thousands of ambassadors doing kind things daily, “she says. “It’s not just a non-profit in Danville and Alamo, but a global movement. I believe in the children. If I’d gotten the same support at 12, God knows what it would be like now!”
Fashion Deals Update:
A California woman who authorities claimed had recruited men on Craigslist to rape her ex-boyfriend’s wife has been cleared of all charges related to the case — and officials allege the man’s wife herself was behind the whole thing.
Michelle Hadley, of Ontario, was arrested in July, accused of harassing Angela Diaz, 31, and sending men to her home to engage in “rape fantasies.” Hadley was exonerated on Monday and Diaz is facing a slew of charges as a result of the twist in the case.
“Ms. Hadley is an innocent victim of a diabolical scheme,” Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas announced in a statement.
Rackauckus alleged Diaz went to great lengths to frame Hadley by allegedly falsely reporting a rape claim and posing as Hadley in emails and on Craigslist.
Diaz has been charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, falsely reporting crimes, perjury, grand theft and forgery, among other charges. She was arrested by Phoenix, Arizona, police on Friday.
Hadley, who had been released from custody in October nearly three months after her arrest, became emotional outside a Fullerton courthouse on Monday after she was officially exonerated.
“Obviously, this has been a huge nightmare for me, probably the most traumatic experience of my life,” Hadley said, according to the Associated Press. “I’m glad it’s finally over, and I can move on.”
The ordeal began in June when Diaz allegedly posed as Hadley on Craigslist and sent responses to people who had responded to “rape fantasy” ads. She allegedly reported to Anaheim police that men arrived at her home to engage in the act. Prosecutors alleged the men were intercepted by police. (The men have not been publicly identified.)
Authorities alleged Diaz sent herself threatening emails, using “violent language” and including pictures to portray herself as a rape victim. Rackauckus also alleged that Diaz falsely reported that a man attempted to rape her in her garage.
Prosecutors said that, for about a month, Diaz allegedly told police Hadley had been threatening to have her raped and had threatened to kill her and what she represented as her unborn child. However, prosecutors alleged Diaz faked the pregnancy.
Hadley’s arrest made headlines, with details of the case garnering widespread attention. But Diaz’s alleged plan soon fell through as authorities learned the threats and Craigslist solicitations allegedly came from Diaz’s phone and condo.
Authorities have not determined a motive for Diaz’s alleged actions. But the women are linked by Ian Diaz, an agent with the U.S. Marshals Service, according to the AP. Prosecutors have said they have no evidence indicating Ian was involved.
It is unclear whether Diaz has entered a plea or acquired a lawyer. Prosecutors said she faces a maximum sentence of 12 years and eight months in prison along with 11 years in county jail.

Rob Kardashian has taken to Instagram to plead with Blac Chyna to let him see their newborn daughter Dream after she left their shared home.
After Kardashian, 29, shared footage of empty rooms in his home and claimed Chyna “took the baby, took the whole nursery we built” on Saturday, he began posting memes people had created of the couple’s apparent breakup.
“Bring Dream back to her Dad please,” Kardashian captioned one meme that depicts Chyna, 28, “stealing Christmas” dressed as the Grinch with their daughter Dream and Chyna’s 4-year-old son King (from her previous relationship with Tyga) in her bag. “She blocked me or else I would ask to see her and she has the guard gate not letting me in the gate either. I just miss baby Dream.” (In a since-deleted post, Chyna said Kardashian could come see Dream if he wanted to because he “knows where we are.”)
In another post that shows Kardashian standing alone in an empty house, he claims that although he’s sharing the comical memes, the situation is anything but humorous.
“This is all very real and serious to me and I’m trying to cheer myself up with these and they are making me laugh. So relax,” he wrote. “This wasn’t fake or some publicity stunt. Trust me. My one month old beautiful baby girl got taken from me along with my wife who left me. Been upset for days so relax. This is all very real in my life. I don’t play when it comes to my woman and my baby.”
Kardashian’s most recent post was a collage of photos of his daughter.
“Pretty Dream,” he captioned the photos. “Miss u pretty mama.”
Chyna also appeared to regain control of her Instagram account after it was hacked on Saturday, sharing a photo of her children to promote the special episode of Rob & Chyna featuring Dream’s birth.
The anonymous hacker claimed she had left Kardashian and they were going to “expose” the reality star and how she was using Kardashian while allegedly cheating on him with other men. The hacker then began to share private messages and text conversations allegedly between Chyna and her lawyer, Jaden Smith and rapper Young Thug — although they didn’t appear to show any signs of infidelity on Chyna’s part.
Chyna later confirmed that the conversations were true, and even implied that Kardashian was behind the hack in a since-deleted post.

For 26 years, Tess Heidelberger’s wedding dress was sitting in a dusty box in her basement next to her Christmas decorations.
“I thought, ‘What a waste,’” she told The Huffington Post. “My basic Christmas tree skirt was on the top of the box of Christmas decorations and that’s when I got the idea to put the two of them together.”
Tess, who lives in Mauldin, South Carolina, purchased the dress in 1989 so it had all the hallmarks of 80s bridal style ― like those signature puffy sleeves. She got married the following year in 1990.
Her daughters had no interest in wearing it themselves (they felt it was too dated), so there were no objections to Tess turning the dress into an art project.
She grabbed a pair of scissors, her hot glue gun and got to work. All she needed to buy was a plain Christmas tree skirt (to put underneath the dress fabric) and some pretty ribbon to cover the glue.
“I laid out my wedding dress and cut the skirt off the dress ― the first cut is the hardest!” Tess explained to HuffPost. “Then I cut off any details on the dress, like appliqués, bows and beading. Then I pinned the wedding dress skirt on the plain Christmas tree skirt until I liked the way it looked. Then I just hot glued it in place and I added the extra appliqués I cut out earlier.”
In all, it only took Tess an hour to complete. She was very pleased with the finished product.
“I love the way it looks!” she said “I’m very sentimental so now every Christmas I can be reminded of our special day!”

It’s been a rough year. Let’s wine whine about it.
When British blogger Clare Potts recently moved into a new home, she found herself with both a new refrigerator and some wine that needed storing. One genius hack later, she tweeted what may be the greatest invention of 2016, if not ever:
Potts simply filled her fridge’s water cooler with wine and let it flow from the door dispenser as normal. Anyone with a similar system can do it, but Potts recommends washing the cooler to prevent clogging if you choose to fill it with water again afterward.
“We’ve only had the fridge for a few days so we haven’t felt the effects yet,” she told HuffPost. “I’m sure it will come in very useful over Christmas and New Years!”
Oh, what a fabulous holiday season it will be with this invention. Cheers!

Kristina Guice had always been “the fat kid in school,” she says, so when the Tucson, Arizona, native got accepted to graduate school across the country in Long Island, New York, she decided this was her opportunity to make a change.
Guice, 25, had recently lost a close friend — who had also been her weight loss inspiration — and got accepted to graduate school just two weeks later. The two major life events made her want to get serious about finally losing weight.
“I was like, ‘Here is my someday,’” she tells PEOPLE. “I could to a grad school program with people across the country who I’ve never met before, and I could be who I want to be.”
Guice read about the ketogenic diet on Reddit, and was inspired by a woman’s photos who had a similar build to her.
“I was like, I can do that — and I can still eat cheese!” she says of the diet that entails restricting carbs and eating fats as fuel instead. “I had heard about low-carb before and I thought I could never give up bread, but then I started reading about all you can still have.”
Even though Guice was still able to eat dairy, eliminating carbs meant an extreme overhaul in her current diet.
“It was carbs all day every day — cereal for breakfast, nachos or a sandwich for lunch, pizza or pasta for dinner,” she says of her typical daily diet. “I didn’t really like vegetables so I rarely ate salad. Bread was the love of my life, and I didn’t understand what an appropriate portion was, so I was just eating however much I wanted.”

Now Guice gets a very small number of carbs from leafy greens, and sticks to a diet of mainly meat, vegetables and cheese.
“A standard dinner would be spinach and chicken thighs cooked in butter, so I have the fat, the protein and then the leafy green as my carbs,” she says. “That was a big change from having pasta with pasta and a side of pasta!”
Although it was hard to give up her beloved carbs, Guice was motivated to stay on track once she started losing weight.
“Seeing the results right away was super motivating,” she says. “I lost 11 lbs. in the first two weeks. I kept motivated by turning it into a habit. Now it feels weird not to go to the gym or not to log how many carbs I’m having. I do it because it’s what I do.”
When Guice returned home after graduate school, she started her Ellipticalifragilistic Instagram account — which now has 23.5k followers — to keep up with her weight loss goals.
“I really wanted to hit 100 lbs. down so I started an Instagram for more motivation and accountability,” she says. “I loved looking at other people’s fitness and weight loss accounts on Instagram, and having a community, especially other keto people, to see people’s food, and making friendships has made it a lot more fun. having people to talk to and get feedback from.”
On Guice’s 25th birthday in November, she reached her goal of losing 100 lbs., and says the best part of her weight loss journey has been “discovering I had cheekbones.”
“I never thought I had cheekbones!” she says. “Shopping is a lot more fun too, and being able to have five racks of clothes to choose from instead of a half rack of plus-size clothing has been a big thing.”

An Oregon woman called the cops after a man allegedly refused to stop “obnoxiously” whistling “Closing Time” by Semisonic, according to a local police log.
Authorities in Forest Grove said that the woman allegedly told the man to “shut up” when he insisted on whistling the timeless classic (yes, timeless classic) near her driveway on Saturday.
The song includes the lyric “I hope you have found a friend.” And yet, it seems that was not true in this case, according to Captain Mark Herb of the Forest Grove Police Department.
“It’s not clear if the caller would have been more or less upset if it was a different genre or whether it was just the talent lacking in the whistling,” Herb told Time.
Now, if you’ve made it this far through the article, the song is undoubtedly stuck in your head. You might as well go all in and listen to the whole thing:

Sometimes, the path to falling in love takes a beautiful, wholly unexpected turn.
In the Glamour magazine video above, a woman named Lindsey discusses how she slowly fell in love with another woman, even though she never expected to be in a same-sex relationship.
As Lindsey explains it, her game plan as an 18-year-old new college student was simple: Hook up with boys ― lots of them. The one thing she hadn’t planned for? Falling in love with her “chipper,” almost annoyingly nice roommate, a girl also named Lindsay.
“[We started] hooking up in secret, still totally convinced that we were both straight: we were just best friends, this is totally just what best friends did,” Lindsey says she told herself. “But long story short: We’re still roommates and best friends today ― we’re also in a relationship.”
Hear how the story unfolds in the video above.

Donald Trump’s “woman’s card” comment about Hillary Clinton has spectacularly backfired, and one brother-sister duo has spun it into a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the creation of a full deck.
Since making his controversial (and awful) statement on April 26 that, “If [she] were a man, I don’t think she’d get 5 percent of the vote…The only thing she’s got going is the woman’s card,” Trump has managed to bring in huge donations to Clinton’s campaign. An incredible 115,000 individuals donated to her campaign in the days immediately following Trump’s comments — and 47,000 of those individuals were first-time donors. His comment struck a considerable nerve, leaving women across America to wonder how exactly having a “woman’s card” is meant to be beneficial — it certainly hasn’t helped any women running president, considering the last 44 have been men.
While watching Trump’s speech and hearing the “woman’s card” comments, Zebby Wahls created a rough sketch of a Hillary Clinton playing card. Her brother, Zach Wahls, told The Huffington Post that his sister, a college senior currently enrolled in the University of Iowa’s BFA program “is always sketching.”
The next morning, Zach read a tweet from Adam Smith, who a few years prior started the “Texts From Hillary” Tumblr blog. He immediately thought of his sister’s sketch, and the two were inspired to make the idea a reality. Zach and Zebby launched The Woman Card[s] Kickstarter campaign on April 28.
The siblings narrowed down 13 women that Zebby would draw onto playing cards, and kept in mind who they themselves would want to see represented. “We’re a big card family,” Zach told The Huffington Post. “The reason we’re doing this is because we want these ourselves.” Zebby has thus far created the sketches for Hillary Clinton, Beyonce, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The full list of women features the likes of Sally Ride — the first American woman in space and the first known LGBT astronaut — and Rosa Parks, whose refusal to give her seat up for a white man on an Alabama bus is seen as the resounding “No” that catapulted the United States into the Civil Rights Movement. Others include Clara Barton, Sylvie Rivera, Amelia Earhart, Harriett Tubman, Mary Cassatt, Susan B. Anthony, Wilma Rudolph, and Ida B. Wells.
“We tried to pick the 13 women that would be on the deck of cards that we would want to play with. We wanted a deck that reflected what America looks like,” Zebby told HuffPost.
And it’s not just the siblings who want to see more representation of remarkable women. The amount of donations the project has received speaks to how deeply the project has resonated with people. As Zach put it, the demand for the playing cards speaks to “a national response to Trump’s comments.”
When Zach and Zebby created their Kickstarter campaign, they hoped to reach their goal of $ 5,000 by the end of May to make enough packs for family and friends. Instead, “we raised $ 5,000 in about three and a half hours,” Zach said.
This deck of cards — which has achieved phenomenal success before it has even been made — is likely just the beginning for Zebby and Zach. “Our list of women doesn’t include Native American and Asian American women, and that’s something we hope to correct in the second edition,” Zach said. The two have also encouraged people to send it suggestions, and have a running spreadsheet with over 170 of them. “It has been pretty educational for us,” Zebby said. “We’ve seen names of women we didn’t know of beforehand.”
Suggestions have ranged from Wilma Mankiller, who was the first woman to be Principal Chief of The Cherokee Nation to Harper Lee, and while it means a humongous load of work for Zebby, the pair are interested in creating specific editions for women in politics, science, and so on.
Zebby’s goal with the cards is to “foster celebration and also education,” she told HuffPost. With the drawings, and the deck of cards that will feature them, Zebby and Zach have taken Trump’s lemons and turned them into celebratory and educational lemonade. Deal us in.

If someone flawlessly executes a Beyoncé number in the middle of the remote Rhodope Mountains with nobody there to see it, did it really happen?
Luckily for Gery Georgieva, the video of her triumphant achievement is gaining serious traction online. Georgieva, a British-Bulgarian artist known for blending pop and folk cultures, attempts the only YouTube re-staging of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” choreography you haven’t seen, donning traditional garb and jingling quietly against the snowy landscape. It’s bizarre and oh-so beautiful.
“I see pop and folk culture as parallel,” Georgieva explained in an interview with Broadly, “in that they’re the lowest common denominator way of belonging that can move such a big amount of people. That power — to have the ability to encourage thousands of people to learn a Beyoncé dance — that’s something quite special and weird.”
Some other Georgieva moments worth exploring include this Caviar Face Tutorial, which is exactly what it sounds like, and this disco-themed reimagining of Monet’s “Water Lilies.“ Compare the artist’s skills to the original Bey below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
