Donald Trump Calls Kathy Griffin ‘Sick’ In Response To Controversial Image

Donald Trump responded to Kathy Griffin’s controversial photo on Twitter Wednesday morning. Images of the comedian holding a bloodied head made to look like the president went viral Tuesday, sparking widespread backlash.

“Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself,” the president wrote. “My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!”

Trump’s son Donald Jr. also responded to the image, writing on Twitter, “The #kathygriffin phony apology would be a lot easier to believe if there wasn’t a video of her mocking the response she knew was coming.”

The gory image of Griffin holding a fake, blood-covered head caused an uproar almost instantly, and rightfully so, with many people on social media condemning Griffin’s actions. The Secret Service also responded to the images, implying they were looking into the situation as a threat.

The comedian has since apologized for the photo, which was taken by Tyler Shields, saying, “I’m a comic, I cross the line. I move the line, then I cross it. I went way too far.”

John Oliver Calls ‘Turbo Bulls**t’ On Trump’s Comey Claims

John Oliver isn’t buying it.

The “Last Week Tonight” host doesn’t believe President Donald Trump’s claims that former FBI director James Comey said that Trump himself wasn’t under investigation three times.

“I call bullshit,” Oliver said on Sunday night. “I call turbo bullshit on that. There is no way those conversations went down in that manner.”

The president is somehow “both a terrible and an amazing liar, and I don’t know how that’s physically possible,” Oliver said.

Oliver also slammed the “genuinely weird” termination letter as well as the following week of “confusing and contradicting” explanations that were ultimately blown up by Trump’s interview with NBC’s Lester Holt on Thursday.

That was when Trump admitted he was going to can Comey, no matter what.

“Trump is so desperate to appear dominant he will rush to take the credit for anything no matter how bad it is,” Oliver said, adding:

“If you wanted him to confess to murder, all a lawyer would have to say is ‘Your honor, the killer could not possibly have been Donald Trump. It must have been someone much stronger and smarter with a much hotter daughter,’ and before they finished that sentence, Trump would be yelling, ‘I did it! It was me! Lock me up! Lock me up! Lock me up!’”

Alec Baldwin Calls Out Publisher For Errors In His New Memoir

Alec Baldwin has been a busy gentleman in recent weeks. His impression of President Donald Trump on “Saturday Night Live” has been wildly popular (at least among liberals), he voiced the titular baby in the new breakout blockbuster “Boss Baby,” and his memoir Nevertheless hit bookstores last week.

Nevertheless, he apparently found a free moment to take to Facebook with some concerns about the editing of his new book, The Guardian reports. In his first, and currently only, post on a Facebook page for Nevertheless, he noted that “the published edition contains SEVERAL typos and errors which I was more than a little surprised to see.” He also hinted that he was less than thrilled with how few photos made it into the book.

Baldwin didn’t sugarcoat his displeasure with the errors he saw in the final text. “The editors at Harper Collins were, I imagine, too busy to do a proper and forensic edit of the material,” he commented, rather cuttingly. Though the Facebook page is, he wrote, intended to be a platform for him to share material that didn’t make it into the book, his upcoming postings “will be an index of corrections and amendments to the text in order to bring it more in line with my original intent.”

Perhaps Baldwin’s ongoing impersonation of Trump is wearing off on him ― the two men apparently share, at least, the impulse to bypass traditional media to set the record straight.

All that said, only one correction ― more of a clarification than an amendment ― appeared in his initial post, published on April 4:

When I write that I am “in love” with Megan Mulalley [sic] or Kate McKinnon or Tina Fey, I mean that I am in love with their talent. As a happily married man who wants to stay that way (ahem), I wanted to clarify that.

Got it.

HarperCollins declined to comment. But some fans and authors have weighed in with their thoughts on Facebook.

Fashion Store Calls This A ‘Chandelier Head Clip,’ And Twitter Isn’t Happy

A maang tikka, known to some as a tikli, is a traditional South Asian accessory typically worn by brides from the center part of their hair to the forehead, over the ajna chakra.

It symbolizes the bride’s third eye as well as the union between two people on a spiritual, physical and emotional level, according to BollywoodShaadis.com.

So when ASOS, a British-based fashion retailer, put one up for sale on its website and labeled it a “chandelier hair clip,” many people of South Asian descent were not OK.

South Asian and Hindu accessories have been the target of cultural appropriation for a while, but especially since the rise of trendy “festival wear.”

The bindi, for example, is typically worn by South Asian women to signify their marital status, to remind them of prayer or, like the maang tikka, mark the anja shakra. Today, some people wear it just to look cool at Coachella.

But ASOS’ apparent rebranding of the tikka was the last straw for many people.

Some people assumed the company was too lazy to learn the South Asian accessory’s real name. Others wanted ASOS to drop the “chandelier” nonsense and call it what it is.

“Dear @ASOS,” one Twitter user wrote. “If you really want to be a cultural appropriation enabler, the least you can do is call it a Tikka, not a chandelier hair clip!!”

Aisha Haque, a Bengali woman in London who goes by @ashlibob on Twitter, was one of the first people to call ASOS out on its “chandelier hair clip,” according to Globalnews.ca.

She told the Canadian news site that ASOS, much like many other fashion companies, gets away with appropriating a culture she holds dear.

“You can’t just blatantly take something from another culture and give no acknowledgment. That is highly offensive,” Haque told Globalnews.ca.

“These big companies get away with it again and again,” she added. “I’d like to tell people to start understanding what cultural appropriation is and that it’s very much okay to make noise when you see it happening.”

At the very least, ASOS appears to have noticed the chandelier backlash.

As of Thursday evening, the “Faux Pearl Chandelier Hair Clip” was no longer available on the ASOS website, but slightly similar products, including one named the “Orelia Semi Precious Festival Hair Tika” were.

ASOS did not immediately return The Huffington Post’s request for comment.

Trevor Noah Calls Out Ivanka Trump For Being A ‘Liar’

Trevor Noah does not forget.

The “Daily Show” host called out Ivanka Trump for going back on her word, having claimed she would not take a job in her father’s White House, during his “Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That” segment on Thursday.

“Remember how Donald Trump and Ivanka promised they wouldn’t turn the White House into a mom-and-pop store? Yeah?” Noah asked. “No nepotism. Remember that? Well, clearly, they don’t.”

On Wednesday, the White House announced that Ivanka would be taking an official unpaid role as an assistant to the president, despite insisting just months ago that she was only “going to be a daughter.”

Noah knew it was only a matter of time before President Trump brought daughter Ivanka on board, but for it to happen only two months in?

“This guy has the patience of a toddler,” Noah said.

Aunt Viv Of ‘Fresh Prince’ Calls Co-Star A ‘Media Hoe’ After Reunion Photo

This sitcom feud just got refreshed.

The day after a photo emerged of the cast of “The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air” reuniting at the beach, one left-out actress lashed out big-time.

Janet Hubert, who played Aunt Vivian for three seasons before tensions led to her departure, wrote a scathing message Tuesday on Facebook in which she called Carlton Banks actor Alfonso Ribeiro a “media hoe” and an “ass wipe” for star Will Smith. She also pledged to up her efforts to pitch to Hollywood her memoir about the “behind the scenes story” of the show.

Here’s a screenshot of a portion of the post:

There is no love lost between Hubert and Smith and Co. She was replaced on “Fresh Prince” by Daphne Maxwell Reid in 1993. Reid appeared in this week’s viral picture of the beaming cast.

Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince family. Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete.

A post shared by Alfonso Ribeiro (@therealalfonsoribeiro) on

Smith told an Atlanta radio station in 1993 that Hubert “wanted the show to be ‘The Aunt Viv of Bel-Air Show’ because I know she is going to dog me in the press.”

The snipes have erupted from time to time over the years. In 2016, Hubert even slammed Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, for urging a boycott of the Oscars to protest the lack of nominations for people of color.

Evangelist Franklin Graham Calls For Disney Boycott Over Gay Characters

Not even Disney can escape the ire of Franklin Graham.

After news that the family-friendly film giant had included a same-sex kiss in a cartoon and will feature a gay character in its upcoming “Beauty and the Beast” remake, the evangelical pastor called on his followers to “say no to Disney.”

In a Facebook post shared this week, Graham wrote that the company is “trying to push the LGBT agenda into the hearts and minds of your children — watch out!” Then, acknowledging that “Disney has the right to make their cartoons” because “it’s a free country,” the evangelist went on to state, “as Christians we also have the right not to support their company. I hope Christians everywhere will say no to Disney.”

The same-sex cartoon kiss appeared on “Star vs. The Forces of Evil” this week when an array of couples were shown kissing, including two men. Meanwhile, “Beauty and the Beast” director Bill Condon also revealed that Gaston’s buddy LeFou, played by Josh Gad, will be shown questioning his feelings for his friend, played by Luke Evans.

The decision prompted one Alabama theater to scrap plans to screen the upcoming remake, which stars Emma Watson as Belle.

“It is a nice, exclusively gay moment in a Disney movie,” Condon told the UK’s Attitude magazine. Gad told USA Today that he was proud to have “expanded” on the original animated version of LeFou, “giving him dimension, making him human.”

Graham has previously made his thoughts on other non– straight, white, Christian groups clear with comments about President Trump’s ban on Syrian immigrants (”not a Bible issue”), Islam (”evil”) and Black Lives Matter (”all lives matter”).

Jack Black Calls On Hollywood To ‘Talk More S**t’ About Trump At The Oscars

Jack Black, for one, hopes to see a repeat of that powerful Golden Globes speech during the Oscars on Sunday.

“Is Meryl Streep in the audience tonight?” Black asked an audience of celebrities at a benefit concert in Los Angeles on Thursday night, warming up the crowd before diving into a song from “School of Rock.”

“I just hope she wins the Oscar and talks some more s**t about that asshole,” he added, with a reference to President Donald Trump that prompted cheers. The group assembled at Los Angeles’ No Name included director Paul Haggis, musicians Moby and Jenny Lewis, and actors Jeff Bridges, Rita Wilson and Jeremy Renner, per The Hollywood Reporter.

He added: “So, if she doesn’t win, to the winners in here, I hope you do the same, ya know?”

“A lot of people say, ‘Oh, that’s just liberals patting themselves on the back,’” Black said about the reaction to Streep’s comments, which inspired a couple tweets from the president himself

“I don’t agree. I thought it took balls. Thought she was very brave. I was very inspired by it. To get up there and tell the truth about the president of the United States in front of a billion people — that takes courage, and it’s very inspiring.”

Others in Hollywood wholeheartedly agreed

While host Jimmy Kimmel doesn’t seem keen on making a grand political statement, we can’t know what to expect from the night’s biggest winners.

The Oscars will kick off with red carpet coverage on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. ET on ABC.

Stephen Colbert Calls ‘Bulls–t’ On Trump’s Continued Voter Fraud Claims

If it smells like a turd and looks like a turd, it might just be President Donald Trump’s voter fraud claims.

In his recent interview with Bill O’Reilly, President Trump continued expressing his belief in rampant voter fraud despite an alarming lack of evidence. While that seems so perplexing that it’d be hard for many to put into words, Stephen Colbert did his best.

“This kind of accusation is called ― and I don’t want to get too technical here ― bullshit,” Colbert said.

The “Late Show” host went on to say that “the largest investigation of voter impersonation ever found just 31 incidents out of a billion ballots cast,” referring to a 2014 Washington Post report that looked at U.S. elections since 2000.

So what do we make of Trump’s claim that 3 million people voted for Hillary Clinton illegally? Colbert crunched the numbers and has an answer for that, too …

Academy Calls Possible Effect Of Trump’s Ban On Foreign Nominees ‘Extremely Troubling’

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, responding on Saturday to reports that filmmaker Asghar Farhadi could miss the the 89th Academy Awards due to President Donald Trump’s executive order blocking millions of people from several majority-Muslim countries, called Farhadi’s possible absence “extremely troubling.”

Farhadi, who won an Oscar in 2012 for his film “A Separation,” was born and lives in Iran, one of seven nations from which Trump has barred immigrants and visitors to the U.S. for at least 90 days. The Academy Awards air Feb. 26.

In a statement provided to The Huffington Post on Saturday, an Academy spokesperson said that the group stands for the “human rights of all people” regardless of borders or religion. Farhadi, meanwhile, has yet to comment on the matter.

“The Academy celebrates achievement in the art of filmmaking, which seeks to transcend borders and speak to audiences around the world, regardless of national, ethnic, or religious differences,” the statement reads. “As supporters of filmmakers ― and the human rights of all people ― around the globe, we find it extremely troubling that Asghar Farhadi, the director of the Oscar-winning film from Iran ‘A Separation,’ along with the cast and crew of this year’s Oscar-nominated film ‘The Salesman,’ could be barred from entering the country because of their religion or country of origin.”

Farhadi is nominated again this year in the best foreign language film category for “The Salesman,” which follows an Iranian couple starring in a local production of Arthur Miller’s “Death of a Salesman.”

Trita Parsi, the president of the National Iranian American Council, a nonprofit that promotes diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Iran, was the first to speak out on Farhadi’s possible banning. The Tribeca Film Festival, which awarded Farhadi Best Narrative Feature in 2009 for his film “About Elly,” issued a similar statement, calling the situation “heartbreaking and unacceptable.”

One of the stars of “The Salesman,” Iranian actress Taraneh Alidoosti, spoke out earlier this week in anticipation of Trump’s executive order about boycotting this year’s ceremony.

“Trump’s visa ban for Iranians and others is a racist move and unacceptable,” she wrote on social media in Arabic and English. “Whether this will include a cultural event or not, I won’t attend the #AcademyAwards 2017 in protest.”

In his 2012 Oscar acceptance speech for “A Separation,” Farhadi emphasized that the divide between the U.S. and Iran is fueled by politicians, not the people. He spoke about what the Academy’s recognition meant to Iranians watching at home.

“At this time, many Iranians all over the world are watching us and I imagine them to be very happy,” he said. “They are happy not just because of an important award or a film or a filmmaker, but because at the time when talk of war, intimidation and aggression is exchanged between politicians, the name of their country Iran is spoken here through her glorious culture, a rich and ancient culture that has been hidden under the heavy dust of politics.”

“I proudly offer this award to the people of my country,” he went on, “a people who respect all cultures and civilizations despite hostility and resentment.”

In response to Trump’s executive order, the Iranian Foreign Ministry released a statement on Saturday that prohibits U.S. citizens from entering the country. Calling Trump’s ban an “open affront against the Muslim world and the Iranian nation in particular,” the action signals a further deterioration of ties between the two nations.

The Huffington Post has reached out to Farhadi’s representatives and will update this post accordingly.

John Mayer Calls The Day Taylor Swift Was Born The ‘Lamest Day Of The Year’

Happy Birthday, Taylor Swift … from everybody except John Mayer

On Tuesday, amid a barrage of birthday wishes from her squad and beyond as Swift turned 27 years old, ex-boyfriend Mayer slipped in the shadiest message in the game.

“Tuesday, December 13 may be the lamest day of the year, conceptually,” he tweeted before deleting it once his followers put two and two together. Bad blood apparently flows both ways between the two songwriters.

Of course, Mayer was probably referring to the Dec. 13 as the anniversary of Sir Francis Drake setting sail around the world, in 1577, or the day the city of Los Angeles dipped to a cool 28 degrees, in 1938. Both are so totally lame, right?

Eh, nevermind. It’s totally about Taylor.

Swift and Mayer briefly dated from November 2009 until their tumultuous breakup in February 2010, but their connection was strong enough to allegedly inspire the classic Swift ballad “Dear John.”

(Lyrical excerpt: Dear John, I see it all now that you’re gone / Don’t you think I was too young to be messed with? / The girl in the dress / Cried the whole way home / I should’ve known.)

Mayer tweeted a follow-up to his original message to dismiss accusations that he’d knocked Swift on her birthday, writing that there was “absolutely no shade” ― before deleting that, too.

“NOPE. No. Nuh-uh. People I am 39,” he wrote. “I am deleting those tweets. Come right at me for doing so. Absolutely no shade.”

Sure, John.

Woman Calls Police To Report Man Who Won’t Stop Whistling Semisonic’s ‘Closing Time’

An Oregon woman called the cops after a man allegedly refused to stop “obnoxiously” whistling “Closing Time” by Semisonic, according to a local police log.

Authorities in Forest Grove said that the woman allegedly told the man to “shut up” when he insisted on whistling the timeless classic (yes, timeless classic) near her driveway on Saturday.

The song includes the lyric “I hope you have found a friend.” And yet, it seems that was not true in this case, according to Captain Mark Herb of the Forest Grove Police Department.

“It’s not clear if the caller would have been more or less upset if it was a different genre or whether it was just the talent lacking in the whistling,” Herb told Time.

Now, if you’ve made it this far through the article, the song is undoubtedly stuck in your head. You might as well go all in and listen to the whole thing:

Kitson Founder Fraser Ross’ Store Window Calls for Robertson Boulevard Return

MOUTHING OFF: Fraser Ross is back to using his store windows to liven up the conversation on Robertson Boulevard.
The retailer’s latest window signage—which has historically been used to make statements on the Los Angeles street—proclaims “Make America and Robertson Great Again” in a riff on President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign slogan. However, it’s less about the winner of the presidential election and more about the retailer’s continued push to get Robertson Boulevard back on the map, Ross said.
“The window’s your platform, your stage to the world,” he said. “You might have to take some heat for it, but there’s stop and go traffic on the street and they see it. It’s your stand of what you believe in.”
Ross said he would have done a spin off Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s slogan had she won the election. Kitross has been selling Clinton and Trump merchandise—everything from socks and coloring books to playing cards and pet waste bags—in the lead up to the elections, with business continuing to be brisk, particularly with Trump merchandise, Ross said.
“It’s [about] how can I get Robertson better again?” he said. “And I think with getting the phone booth taken down [on the street], the trees trimmed,

James Corden Calls Out The Kardashians On Air After Kylie Cancels

Unfortunately for Kendall Jenner, James Corden keeps up with the Kardashians.

Jenner joined Corden’s show on Wednesday for a game of “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts,” which is like truth or dare if every dare was eating something disgusting. The reality star was a good sport, ranking her nieces’ and nephews’ names from best to worst and drinking bird saliva instead of saying which member of the Taylor Swift squad was her least favorite.

I don’t know about you, but that’s what the squad do.

Then came the big question …

While Kendall was faced with the prospect of either answering a question or drinking clam juice, Corden said, “Your sister Kylie was supposed to be on our show tonight, but she canceled yesterday morning because she was sick. Yeah, she was sick.”

“Here’s a paparazzi photo of her,” said the host, showing a very recent picture of Kylie walking around.

From their reactions, Kris and Kendall Jenner probably weren’t expecting that.

“My question is, ‘How is she feeling?’” said Corden.

“Drink the clam juice!” Kris yelled.

Kendall did end up drinking the clam juice, so we’ll never know for sure how Kylie is feeling, but we’re going to guess she’s doing a little better than her sister:

“The Late Late Show with James Corden” airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. ET on CBS.

Maisie Williams Calls Out Sexism In The Entertainment Industry

Maisie Williams, of “Game of Thrones” and being a wise human fame, is unimpressed with the entertainment industry’s “hot piece” roles.

In a profile in the London Evening Standard, Williams opened up about inequality in parts for men and women actors:

There are a lot of roles that come in that are “the girlfriend” or “the hot piece” in a movie or TV series. That’s something I’ve seen first-hand and read all the time. It will say “Derek: intelligent, good with kids, funny, really good at this” and then it will say “Sandra: hot in a sort of cute way” — and that’s all you get. That’s the way your character is described, so going into an audition you are channelling “hot,” which isn’t like a person, that’s not who a person is. That’s what I see and that’s what needs to change. I’ve been lucky enough to play a very great female character from a young age, who is a fantastic role model for girls.

It’s the same phenomenon that has been called out by website someladyparts.com, which posts what are unfortunately extremely common sexist casting calls for women. A recent posting on the site reads:

Seeking: ‘Perfect girl. 21-25. Strictly Blond. Tall. Model Look. topless on top of [male character] … No Nipples.’

Get it together, world.

Petition Calls For Jon Stewart To Moderate A Presidential Debate

Jon Stewart’s “Daily Show” retirement is barely two weeks old, but there’s already a push to bring him back to the airwaves next year — this time as moderator of one of the upcoming presidential debates

“Over the last 16 years, Jon Stewart has played an influential and iconic role in covering U.S. politics and media,” the petition on Change.org reads. “We believe he should continue that tradition as a moderator at one of the 2016 Presidential Debates.”

The petition notes that Stewart has interviewed 15 heads of state, 22 members of the Cabinet, 32 U.S. Senators and seven members of the House of Representatives, as well as “scores of other political leaders from this country and around the world while establishing himself as the most trusted person in (satirical) news.”

In addition, the petition points out that with Stewart serving as host, “The Daily Show” won Peabody Awards for its coverage of the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections.

So far, more than 120,000 people have signed the petition addressed to the Commission on Presidential Debates, the nonprofit and nonpartisan organization that sets the locations and chooses the moderators for each debate.

Neither the CPD nor Stewart have commented on the petition. However, the organization spells out the qualifications on its website:

“The moderators are selected by the CPD. The CPD uses three criteria to select its moderators: a) familiarity with the candidates and the major issues of the presidential campaign; b) extensive experience in live television broadcast news; and c) an understanding that the debate should focus maximum time and attention on the candidates and their views. The moderators alone select the questions to be asked, which are not known to the CPD or to the candidates. They do not meet with the campaigns, nor do the campaigns have a role in moderator selection.”

At least one presidential hopeful has signed the petition:

Stewart has said little about his post-“Daily Show” plans, but his next big public appearance will be as host of WWE’s SummerSlam on Sunday.

He also reportedly intends to be active in animal rescues. Earlier this year, Farm Sanctuary announced that Stewart and his wife, Tracey Stewart, “bought a farm in New Jersey with the intention of providing a home for farm animals rescued from cruelty.”

But the creators of the petition are hoping to bring him back to television at least one more time.

“(S)orry for pestering you so early in your retirement, Mr. Stewart!” an update to the petition reads. “I hope you take all of this as a compliment and see how grateful these supporters are for your work.”

Grayers Growth Calls For Swim, Kids, Retail Launches

Grayers’ founders fancy the label they launched three years ago as something along the lines of affordable J. Crew. The company has reached a point now, they say, to hunt for capital to fuel the next phase of expansion, which calls for taking the men’s wear brand to full-on lifestyle label.
The company’s founders have their sights set on expanding the accessories collection for fall, launching swim and then following all of that up with kids.
Grayers, headquartered in New York with production in Asia, was founded by former Ralph Lauren executive Peter Georgiou and his wife Joanna, who handles sales and marketing.
“In the case of Grayers, I felt there was a sweet spot in the market, both in price point and product attributes, in the U.S. and U.K.,” Peter said. “Over the last few years we’ve gone from being a 20-door business out of Nordstrom to about 200 points of sale today in the U.S. mostly.”
The line includes polos starting at $ 58, $ 88 chinos, selvage denim for $ 165, French terry cardigans for $ 138 and wool blazers for $ 195.
“It’s [for] a guy who cares about what he wears and doesn’t want to be burdened by it,” Peter said.

Kourtney Kardashian Posts Gun Range Photo After Kim Calls For Gun Control

Here’s some fun sibling rivalry for you. The day after Kim Kardashian called for more gun control, her sister Kourtney went and posted a photo of herself at a shooting range.

Don't mess.

A photo posted by Kourtney Kardashian (@kourtneykardash) on

Kourtney captioned the photo, “Don’t mess,” and it’s hard to tell if the message was meant for Kim, though the timing is certainly strange. What’s more is that it’s not even a new photo, as Gossip Cop pointed out.

It’s actually a screenshot from a 2007 episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” where Kris Jenner brought Kourtney, Khloe and Kim to the shooting range for target practice. On the episode, Kim was nervous about shooting guns, but suddenly felt “empowered” once she started accessorizing with safety gear. The episode later showed her learning to shoot a massive assault rifle.

The subject of the purchase of guns has been a plot point on the family’s reality show several times throughout the series. And while Kim also spoke out when her stepparent Caitlyn Jenner decided to buy a gun for protection on a 2013 episode after the family members were the victims of a swatting prank, Kourtney’s throwback Instagram certainly strikes as a little shady.

Bill Maher Calls College Student A ‘Little Sh*t’ For Criticizing Jerry Seinfeld

Political talk show host Bill Maher called a college writer a “little shit” on his HBO show Friday night for questioning comedian Jerry Seinfeld’s claim that college audiences are too politically correct.

After San Diego State University student Anthony Berteaux, a campus editor-at-large with The Huffington Post, penned an open letter to Jerry Seinfeld telling him he was disheartened that the comedian thinks college audiences are too quick to call jokes racist, sexist or prejudiced, Maher told him to back off during a segment on “Real Time.”

“Now, I sure wouldn’t want to be judged by what I wrote at 20, but stupid though I was in 1976, I wouldn’t have presumed to lecture George Carlin on comedy,” Maher said, referring to the late, famed comedian. “Though I sure wish George was around today to write a letter back to this kid, as only he could. But since he can’t, allow me: Dear you little shit, I’m sure you’re busy with your new letter explaining astrophysics to Stephen Hawking and giving jump shot pointers to Steph Curry, but try to get a clue.”

In an interview with ESPN earlier this month, Seinfeld echoed sentiments expressed by comedians Chris Rock and Larry the Cable Guy about young people taking offense too easily.

“I don’t play colleges, but I hear a lot of people tell me, ‘Don’t go near colleges. They’re so PC,’” Seinfeld said. “[Young people] just want to use these words: ‘That’s racist;’ ‘That’s sexist;’ ‘That’s prejudice.’ … They don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.”

In Berteaux’s open letter, he challenged Seinfeld’s argument and cited Amy Schumer as a comedian whose jokes about sensitive subjects like rape successfully highlight injustices.

“It isn’t so much that college students are too politically correct (whatever your definition of that concept is), it’s that comedy in our progressive society today can no longer afford to be crass, or provocative for the sake of being offensive,” he wrote. “Sexist humor and racist humor can no longer exist in comedy because these concepts are based on archaic ideals that have perpetrated injustice against minorities in the past.”

Pup Calls Adorable Ceasefire On These Two Dogs Stuck In Serious Gridlock

This pup just wants everyone to give peace a chance.

After watching her mother, Nancy, and brother, Bosco, remain in a deadlocked game of tug-of-war, Casley the dog decided to intervene, shown in the video above.

According to its description, the video was first shared on Facebook where it quickly went viral — and we completely understand why.

Watch as the pair of pups, with noses smooshed together, clutch the tennis ball with no signs of letting go. Casley comes along to break up the little disagreement and sticks her head on the pair’s snouts.

While it doesn’t seem that she really helped solve the problem, we’re happy she tried. If only there were more Casleys in the world.

Azealia Banks Calls BET Awards ‘Bogus,’ Says Nicki Minaj Wins ‘Every Year’

Azealia Banks is never one to hide her feelings, and it’s safe to say she’s really not feeling her BET Award nomination for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist.

Iggy Azalea, Nicki Minaj, Trina, Tink and Dej Loaf are up for the honor along with Banks, who took to Twitter on Monday to express her thoughts on the “bogus” award show:

Minaj certainly has been a favorite at the BET Awards and has taken home the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist for the last five consecutive years. She has yet to respond to Banks’ comments, but she’s likely basking in the afterglow of dropping the video for “Feeling Myself” with Beyonce.

Besides, Banks claims her comments weren’t supposed to be taken as jabs at Minaj anyway:

Killer Mike Calls Bill O’Reilly ‘Full Of S***’ On ‘Real Time With Bill Maher’

Killer Mike appeared on “Real Time with Bill Maher” Friday night and was very candid about his opinion of Bill O’Reilly.

“I like Bill O’Reilly as a character,” the Run the Jewels rapper said, prompting the host to laugh. “I hate how white people take him so seriously,” Mike continued. “He’s more full of shit than an outhouse.”

The rapper stuck by his belief that O’Reilly puts up a “fictitious” facade. But Maher disagreed slightly, saying that the political commentator’s temperament was no act. O’Reilly “may be full of shit,” Maher said, “but it’s sincere shit.”

The two then discussed O’Reilly’s claim that rap music is responsible for the decline of religion in America. Mike’s response was pure laughter.

In Friday’s episode Maher also brought up America’s obsession with British accents and discussed the criticism of first lady Michelle Obama’s speech at Tuskegee University with panelists Killer Mike, John Waters, Heather McGhee and Charles Murray.

Councilman Calls On Baltimore Rappers To Inspire Students

City Councilman Nick J. Mosby visited several high schools Friday to connect teens with a group of people he knew would get their attention: Baltimore-bred rappers.

Bill Maher Calls Out Rand Paul For Pandering To Republican Base

Bill Maher wants to know what happened to Rand Paul.

On “Real Time With Bill Maher” Friday night, the host took Sen. Paul (R-Ky.) to task, claiming the presidential candidate has recently changed many of his libertarian beliefs.

“New rule: You can’t have any more Republican candidates for president until you tell me what you did with Rand Paul,” Maher said, “who was last seen standing in front of an aircraft carrier setting fire to everything he used to believe.”

By way of example, he said, “If you want to say, ‘I’m a new kind of Republican,’ don’t do what all the rest of them do and stand in front of the Yorktown … and then suggest adding $ 190 billion to the defense budget — the one you used to want to cut.”

Elsewhere in the episode, he discussed Mike Huckabee, Carly Fiorina and Deflategate.

Bill Maher Calls For Ban On Fraternities In ‘New Rules’

Bill Maher is calling for the end of fraternities.

The host closed out his “New Rules” segment on “Real Time with Bill Maher” Friday night with a plea to the president.

“New rule,” Maher said. “Before he leaves office, President Obama must send in the National Guard to desegregate American’s last bastion of societal-approved racism: college fraternities.”

Maher went on to compare fraternities to the Islamic State group because of the hazing techniques used by some in the Greek system.

“Since 1970, there’s been at least one hazing-related death every year as pledges routinely endure alcohol poisoning, sleep deprivation, waterboarding, being dressed in diapers, buried in trash, force-fed cat food,” he said. “Jesus, why not just pledge ISIS?”

Petition Calls For Recast Of Scarlett Johansson’s Role In ‘Ghost In The Shell’

A recent petition is calling for Scarlett Johansson’s role in “Ghost in the Shell” to be recast on the grounds of whitewashing.

Earlier this month, Variety reported that Johansson had signed on to star in DreamWorks’ big-screen adaptation of the anime adventure, focusing on the story of a covert operations unit in the Japanese National Public Safety Commission and following the lead protagonist, Major Motoko Kusanagi.

While the 30-year-old certainly has had box office success starring in action films, like Marvel’s “Avengers” series and “Lucy,” after the announcement was made critics called the casting “whitewashing” due to the comic’s Japanese origins.

Now, there is a Care2 petition requesting DreamWorks consider recasting the role.

“What concerns me is the fact that minority actors are so rarely given opportunities in big-budget leading roles,” petition author Julie Rodriguez said in a press release sent to The Huffington Post. “It’s a self-defeating cycle: Hollywood insists viewers won’t be drawn unknown minority actors, but they’re never given the chance to break out of a narrow set of background roles to prove themselves. ‘Ghost in the Shell’ could have been a perfect opportunity to buck this trend, but instead promising actresses are being passed over.”

The petition has a goal of 14,000 signatures and has already collected more than 13,000.

Others have voiced issue with the fact that an Asian-American actress was not chosen. Marissa Lee, co-founder of the entertainment equality group Racebending, wrote a blog post in response to DreamWorks’ decision, explaining that it’s a missed opportunity for inclusive representation.

“Ultimately, ‘Ghost in the Shell’ is a story about what makes us human. Having access to powerful media representation is key for minorities to be seen as human. As a successful white actress, Scarlett Johansson has been privileged to play powerful women characters in action films. ‘Ghost in the Shell’ was a chance for an actress of Asian descent to have that same opportunity.”

A representative for DreamWorks was not immediately available for comment.
