Cupcakes and Cashmere Blogger Emily Schuman Is Launching a Clothing Line

Emily Schuman, the creator and life-envy-inducing blogger behind Cupcakes and Cashmere, has officially thrown her hat into the fashion designer ring.

She revealed today in a blog post on her site that she’s launching a 40-piece collection on July 6, which will debut exclusively at Nordstrom and ShopBop. As Schuman writes, the West Coast serves as a major point of inspiration for the collection:

“Over the past 18 months, we’ve been working on our biggest project to date, one that reflects the true soul of the site and shows the evolution of the brand. On July 6, we’re launching a Cupcakes and Cashmere clothing line, selling exclusively at Nordstrom and ShopBop. The inspiration behind the fall 2015 line is centered around three thematic locations: Los Angeles (edgy, urban), San Francisco (preppy, polished), and Malibu (relaxed, trendy). We developed a line that can be mixed and matched with anything in your closet, focused on quality tailoring and materials, while hitting an affordable price point. It turned out better than I ever imagined.”

Schuman isn’t the first fashion blogger to jump on the design train—she’s following in the footsteps of folks like Rumi Neely and Elin Kling, both of whom started independent luxury basics lines (not to be confused with collaborations) within the last two years. If the images on Schuman’s site are any indication, this line will address the wants and needs of her passionate fan base—scalloped-hem shirts and skirts, leather jackets, chambray tops—quite handily.

While a full look book has yet to be released, you can head over to Cupcakes and Cashmere to get a sneak peek at what’s to come.

The Tastemakers: Why We’re Crazy for Cupcakes But Fed Up with Fondue

The Tastemakers: Why We’re Crazy for Cupcakes But Fed Up with Fondue

Greek yogurt. Spicy chipotle mayo. Honeycrisp apples. The Cronut. These days, it seems we are constantly discovering a new food that will make us healthier, happier, or even somehow smarter. After a brief life as a novelty houseplant and “I Love the ’80s” punchline, chia seeds are suddenly a superfood. Speaking of which, what ever happened to pomegranate juice? Or acai berries? Did they suddenly cease to be healthy in 2010? And by the way, what exactly is a superfood again? In this eye-opening, witty work of reportage, David Sax uncovers the world of food trends: where they come from, how they grow, and where they end up. From the test labs at Dole foods to the food truck lobby to the 20 seconds of Sex and the City that forever changed the fate of the cupcake, Sax reveals the money and influence behind what you eat for breakfast. In sections on how food trends are created, what makes them explode, and why they matter, Sax travels America in search of the farmers, planners, and chefs who help decide what you will spend three hours waiting for on a SoHo sidewalk. “The Tastemakers” is full of entertaining stories and useful bits of wisdom for maintaining your sanity in the complex world of food choices.
