Jamie Foxx and Sylvester Stallone’s Daughters, Corinne and Sistine, Costar in “47 Meters Down: Uncaged”

“I don’t think I fully thought it through,” said Corinne Foxx, 25, of accepting a starring role in Johannes Roberts’ shark thriller “47 Meters Down: Uncaged,” out today. “The director asked me, ‘What’s your swimming ability like?’ I said, ‘It’s great, it’s wonderful,’ and then I got there, and I couldn’t even doggy paddle.” “They told me I got the part on a Thursday, and by Sunday, I was on a plane,” she continued. She was given the part after another actress turned it down and learned to both swim and scuba dive in four days. “It’s survival. Either you swim or you don’t swim, so I had to figure it out. I don’t know what I was thinking, but it paid off.” Along with being the daughters of well-established, respected actors, Jamie Foxx and Sylvester Stallone, Corinne and her costar Sistine Stallone, 21, have a number of other similarities. They have both modeled, been Miss Golden Globe — the tradition that ended in 2017 of celebrity offspring assisting in handing out award trophies to winners — and now, they’re in their first feature film. “It’s been fun, because it’s my first press circuit for my own movie,” said Foxx of being asked the

Theresa May Steps Down as U.K. Prime Minister, Pound Surges

LONDON – Theresa May announced her resignation as Prime Minister earlier today. Her resignation will come into effect June 7 and a leadership contest will begin in the following week for her replacement.
May will take on a caretaker role until a new leader has been elected. “I have done everything I can to convince MPs to back that deal. Sadly, I have not been able to do so. I tried three times,” she said in a speech delivered at Downing Street.
Earlier this week, May put offered Members of Parliament the chance to vote on whether to hold a second Brexit referendum as one of the new proposals under her amended Withdrawal Agreement Bill. The pound shot up as high as $ 1.28 in response. It fell back down over the past two days, to around $ 1.26, but following her resignation speech Friday, it shot up to $ 1.27.
However, Tory MPs said that they will have to oppose the Withdrawal Agreement with tabloids speculating that 46 members of May’s party will vote down the latest iteration.
The Bill, laid out in November last year and amended three times since then, has been continually rejected.
“It is, and will always remain, a matter of deep regret

New Era Doubles Down on Premium EK Collection

New Era noticed a gap in the market for premium hats that were at a contemporary price point, so they launched the EK Collection a few seasons ago, with the E and the K standing for New Era’s founder Ehrhardt Koch.
“Our brand is closely associated with the baseball cap, but the first hat he designed was a Gatsby hat,” said Billy Loncar, senior design manager for New Era Cap. “This line is paying homage to our heritage through materials, hardware and little finishing details.”
According to Loncar, each season the vintage aesthetic remains the same, but they infuse premium materials, new colors and different fabrications into the line. The line is broken down into Luxe, Vintage and Classic and includes a waffle-knit beanie, a shearling and velvet baseball cap, a velvet skully, a wool fedora and a herringbone driver’s cap. The line retails from $ 60 to $ 150. The collection is distributed on New Era’s e-commerce site along with Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Fred Segal, Barneys New York and Selfridges.
“I think one of the really great things about the EK line is the clean aesthetic and subtle details that go into the designs that buyers appreciate,” said Loncar. “The styles are wearable

Eison Triple Thread Doubles Down on Personalization Via Spotify

SAN FRANCISCO — Never underestimate the power of music. Eison Triple Thread certainly isn’t, with an interesting approach to personalization using Spotify playlists.
The online made-to-measure men’s wear company’s new app, launching Monday, will combine answers from a style quiz, Spotify playlists, artificial intelligence and machine learning to come up with garment options for clients.
“Over the past several months, we’ve been focused on the product piece and getting it right and finding that balance of product efficacy and making sure it fits,” said Eison Triple Thread founder and ceo Julian Eison. “We were delivering things that people actually wanted outside of ‘Hey, it looks good. It fits’ and start thinking about application and utility.”
The company began boosting it data-collection capabilities, automating off-line processes in a bid to find where the drop-off, or the decision to not move forward with a purchase, was happening online.
The app, dubbed Eison Triple Thread Fits, uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to match swatches and fits, while using music as the primary mode of drawing clients in.
“We’re telling them what their optimal wardrobe should be based on the music as the onboarding process,” Eison said. “From there, we make general assumptions on patterns, colors and other

Siblings, Ages 4 and 6, Diagnosed with Brain Tumors Just 2 Weeks Apart: ‘We Broke Down in Tears’

Two young siblings from Southern California were diagnosed with brain cancer just two weeks apart from each other, and now face a long road of aggressive treatment to keep the tumors at bay.

At the end of May, 6-year-old Kalea Avery experienced worsening headaches that prompted her parents to take her to a neurologist just after the Memorial Day weekendAfter performing an MRI, doctors found a tumor —  measuring 3.5 centimeters in diameter — forming near the stem of the young girl’s brain, reports the Daily Breeze, and Kalea soon underwent a four-hour surgery to remove the mass on June 11.

“We go from having a healthy baby girl who’s a skateboarder and a soccer player, who’s just loving life, to having a tumor removed from her brain,” Kalea’s father, Duncan Avery, told the Los Angeles Times.

Doctors soon discovered the mass was cancerous and diagnosed Kalea with medulloblastoma, a fast-growing cancer that forms at the base of the skull which can spread to the spinal cord and other parts of the body. Because medulloblastoma tumors grow in the area of the brain that controls complex motor and cognitive functions, patients typically display trouble with movement and balance.

The family was able to quickly get started on Kalea’s treatment, but their nightmare was far from over. Two weeks after Kalea’s diagnosis, Duncan and his wife, Nohea, noticed that 4-year-old Noah had begun taking longer-than-usual naps. They initially figured their son was depressed about his sister’s situation until he complained of headaches in the area between his eyebrows — the same spot his sister pointed to just weeks earlier. Then, the family told the TimesNoah began to lean as he walked.

Scans on June 21 revealed that Noah had a mass in the same spot as his sister, and doctors removed the tumor four days later. While tests are pending, they believe the tumor is medulloblastoma as well.

“We broke down in tears,” Duncan, a 36-year-old coach at Redondo Beach Union High School, told the Times. “How could two kids in 14 days have the exact same tumor? How does that happen?”

For the parents, the reality that both of their children had such a serious form of cancer, at the same time nonetheless, was devastating.

“My heart literally felt like it was broke apart,” Nohea, a nurse practitioner, told CBS Los Angeles. “It was being pulled out of my chest.”

A GoFundMe page to help the family with their medical expenses has raised more than $ 117,000 of its $ 150,000 goal in just four days thanks to more than 1,300 donors.

Noah and Kalea will soon start radiation and possibly chemotherapy. Fortunately, with aggressive treatment, most children can fight off medulloblastoma long enough to the point where it won’t return, according to UCSF. Both siblings will also enter physical, occupational and speech therapy to help in their recovery.

“I don’t know how I’m going to get through this, but you do. You find a way,” Nohea told KTLA. “You look at your children, you hold them and you just find a way.”

Western Fashion Touches Down in China

Fashion and industry have long traveled from East to West and back. It’s no different today.
China for centuries has been a place of inspiration for everything from gowns to porcelain, maybe because it has always seemed the farthest from the West, in terms of distance and culture, and that sense of the exotic is still appealing, especially to designers always looking for something new and, if they’re lucky, something previously undiscovered in their own culture.
Appropriation is now a familiar word in fashion, but designers long obsession with China was on extensive display during 2015’s Costume Institute installation “China: Through the Looking Glass,” the museum’s largest installation to date. Head curator Andrew Bolton told WWD at the time that designers and other types of artists see the East “as this culture of unbridled inspiration and creativity.”

“Many designers tend to look to other cultures, even their own cultures really, on a very surface level,” Bolton said. “It’s about aesthetics really, and they often don’t engage with the cultural context. Certainly, when it comes to Orientalism they engage with motifs.”
And maybe artistic engagement that reads as homage rather than appropriation is the best way to avoid the gaps in cultural understanding

After arriving by car with her mom, Doria Ragland, the bride-to-be will be greeted by her little bridal party members (including Prince George and Princess Charlotte!), who will lead the way down the aisle as Meghan takes her first steps to the altar by herself.

She will then be met by her future father-in-law, Prince Charles, who will be waiting for her at the halfway mark to escort her the rest of the way to the altar. The length of the aisle is about 110 steps, and more than half of those will be taken solo by Meghan.

Charles is stepping into the role in place of Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle, who is unable to come to the royal wedding.

“It was Meghan’s wish and she is grateful for the Prince of Wales to be doing it,” a royal source tells PEOPLE.

Don’t miss out! Tune in to Meghan and Harry – a Fairy-Tale Wedding on Saturday, May 19, starting at 6 a.m. ET/ 3 a.m. PT on PeopleTV — now available on PeopleTV.com and on your favorite streaming device.

Home Hack: Majorly Cut Down on Cleaning Time with These 5 Genius Ideas

Cleaning can be such a chore.

Whether it’s as simple as wiping down the countertops or an annual afternoon spent scrubbing the oven, household to-dos can quickly pile up — and overwhelm you.

This year, get ahead of these tedious tasks before they get ahold of you. Sound too good to be true? Try these five simple tricks that will make your home spotless without the everyday stress.

1. Trash Can Trick
There are few things more frustrating than taking out the trash, forgetting to replace the bag and accidentally dumping something in the uncovered can. Cut out the middleman by keeping a few bags at the bottom of the bin. After tying up the old, all you have to do is reach down for the new.

2. Sheet Treat
Linen closet out of control? Corral your spare sheet sets by folding up the bed coverings and placing them inside their coordinating pillowcase. Stack the pretty packages to save on space (and sanity).

3. Clever Kits
Instead of keeping all of your supplies in the pantry or under the kitchen sink, make mini baskets of the essentials to be stored in the room’s you tend to the most. Gather your secret weapons — like all-purpose cleaners, gloves, sponges, etc. — place them in a bucket and store somewhere easily accessible, but out of sight.

4. Better Baking
There are few activities less enjoyable than cleaning the oven. Save yourself a ton of elbow grease by lining the bottom with a silicon liner. Not only will it catch everyday spills and stains, but when it becomes truly unbearable, all you have to do is remove it and wipe it down. No getting on your hands and knees required.

5. Storage Savior
It seems cabinet space is always lacking, but this quick fix can help. Place a standard shelf organizer inside your cramped quarters to add vertical space for dishes or other essentials. You’ll be amazed at how such little effort will reap such noticeable results.
