EXCLUSIVE: Dior to Publish Book of Photographs by Nikolai Von Bismarck

OUT OF THE SHADOWS: Fashion showgoers may know Nikolai von Bismarck as the boyfriend of Kate Moss. What many don’t realize is that he’s also an accomplished photographer — one who’s about to publish his first book in collaboration with Dior men’s artistic director Kim Jones. “The Dior Sessions,” published by Rizzoli, charts Jones’ first year at Dior through more than 100 black-and-white portraits of his friends and colleagues. They include Moss and her daughter Lila Grace, A$ AP Rocky, Robert Pattinson, David Beckham, Demi Moore, Eddie Redmayne, Takashi Murakami and Jude Law. Photographed on film over the course of 12 months and across three continents, the project acts like a snapshot of the era, Dior said in a statement. A portrait of A$ AP Rocky in “The Dior Sessions.”  Courtesy/Nikolai von Bismarck “Simultaneously reflecting the present and respecting the past, it holds up a mirror to modern society’s multifaceted nature, in which creatives are multihyphenates and different media — music, fashion, film, art — cross-pollinate and intermingle free of hierarchy,” it said, drawing a parallel with Christian Dior’s relationships with artists. Jones, meanwhile, described the sitters as “a diverse cross-section of people who do amazing things.” Von Bismarck, who studied photography at Parsons Paris, worked for Annie Leibovitz

EXCLUSIVE: Aitor Throup Announces Upcoming New Men’s Label

Aitor Throup is gearing up to debut a men’s wear label, WWD has learned.
The Buenos Aires-born and Burnley, England-raised designer, known for his highly conceptualized fashion, said this project marks “the biggest thing I’ve ever worked on, I’m nearing the completion of my vision, which has been 15 years in the making, and I’m near the end of it.”
The new men’s brand, the name of which is being kept under wraps, will make its debut later this year before fully seeing the light in 2020.
Throup, who had served as G-Star’s executive creative director overseeing the men’s and women’s mainline ranges and the Raw Research men’s line since 2016, last year parted ways amicably with the Amsterdam-based label co-owned by Pharrell Williams.
Prior to his appointment at G-Star, Throup had launched his conceptual men’s label New Object Research, which debuted on the London Fashion Week: Men’s calendar in 2013. In 2016 the designer hosted a performance-presentation hybrid in a deconsecrated church in Marylebone.
The men’s label blending fashion, design and the arts paved the way for the development of the new project debuting this year. “New Object Research was a part of this process, this exploration that has allowed me to develop a

TAKE TWO: Gherardo Felloni is addressing the generation gap — and incidentally sending out the message that style has no age barrier — with a short film to present his fall 2019 collection for Roger Vivier.
He tapped a Hollywood heavyweight, Susan Sarandon, as well as rising star AnnaSophia Robb, to star in a short film set to go live on the brand’s social channels today. It also stars Instagram sensation Tuna the Dog, who has 2 million followers — almost as many as Sarandon and Robb combined.
Inspired by Italian director Antonio Pietrangeli’s cult 1965 movie “Io la conoscevo bene” (“I Knew Her Well” in English), the film tells the story of an aspiring actress — played by Robb — who moves to the city to learn her trade and take lessons in style under shoe-obsessed drama teacher Sarandon.

EXCLUSIVE: Mytheresa to Launch Men’s Wear for a Post-Streetwear World

LONDON — This is a man’s world, to borrow from James Brown, with big retailers such as Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges casting fresh eyes over their men’s fashion floors and expanding their spaces to cater to a brand-conscious generation.
Online players such as Mr Porter, Matchesfashion.com, Farfetch and the British site Endclothing are making more space for sneakers, men’s capsules, exclusive products and limited editions, while the Paris men’s show schedule is back-to-back, with new international names and hot contemporary labels that show men’s and women’s wear alike.
Mytheresa, which until now has sold women’s wear only, is vaulting into the arena with a gutsy proposition to deliver a new elegance to the category, complete with a lineup of luxe brands, tailored clothing and price points suited to shoppers with deep pockets.
Where other retailers may be stretching their offer or floor space to include more streetwear, T-shirts, sneakers, grooming products and entry price points, Mytheresa is taking a different direction in the belief there is untapped demand for a new take on the classics and a more formal attitude.

EXCLUSIVE: Randa Acquires Haggar Brand

Randa Accessories is finally making its long-desired jump into the apparel end of the business.
On Tuesday, the New York-based company revealed that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire 100 percent of Haggar Clothing Co. Terms were not disclosed, but the transaction is expected to close on May 31. The acquisition also includes the Tribal women’s brand.
Haggar is believed to have sales of around $ 500 million and Randa revenues of about $ 700 million, so the combined company would have sales of more than $ 1 billion.
Haggar’s headquarters will remain in Dallas and the current management team, headed by chief executive officer Michael Stitt, will remain intact.
A little over a year ago, Randa was locked in a battle with George Feldenkreis to acquire Perry Ellis International. Ultimately, Feldenkreis prevailed but Randa’s management was determined to regroup and find another brand that would allow it to expand beyond accessories, where it dominates the market.
That opportunity arose with Haggar, a privately held, 93-year-old, Dallas-based brand whose founding family sold the business in 2005 to private equity firm Perseus LLC and Taiwan-based Pou Chen, the world’s largest footwear manufacturer, which has been the sole owner for the past several years.

PARIS — Parisian men’s wear label Editions M.R has chosen Louis Wong as its first official creative director.
The French designer, who is best known for his work at A.P.C., joined the ready-to-wear company in March, and will present his first collection for the brand during Paris Fashion Week: Men’s in June.
“When Louis and I met, I immediately felt we shared this common sensibility,” said Mathieu de Ménonville, who cofounded Editions M.R in 2010 (formerly named Melinda Gloss.) “I’m hoping his creative direction will lead to developing more fabrics and styles, but will also add a touch of eccentricity and bring a fresh outlook to the brand.”
After a stint at Louis Vuitton’s men’s studio working under Marc Jacobs, Wong, 42, spent 15 years at A.P.C., collaborating with Jean Touitou on the men’s and women’s lines. In 2011, the French designer launched his own men’s line at A.P.C., named Louis W.

There’s more cause for celebration, though: the gala, which this year will be sponsored by Michael Kors and Audi, marks the four-year anniversary of the museum’s move downtown to the Meatpacking District. Plus folks will be able to celebrate — or perhaps more accurately, mourn — the closing of the oft-Instagrammed exhibit “Andy Warhol — From A to B and Back Again.”
For Kors’ part, he said he’s looking forward to checking out the next thing the museum has to offer.
“I love the building and the fact that there’s always something new and provocative to see,” he said. “Having the Whitney in my backyard is a dream.”

EXCLUSIVE: Sonia Rykiel Splits With Julie de Libran, Seeks New Investor

PARIS – Creative director Julie de Libran has left Sonia Rykiel, as the French fashion house known for its striped knits looks for a new investor, WWD has learned.
“The house confirms the departure of Julie de Libran,” a spokesman for Rykiel said on Thursday, adding that the label’s management was mulling over the organization of the design studio. “The house is not for sale. It is looking for a partner to enter its capital in order to increase its development,” the spokesman added.
De Libran, who joined Rykiel in 2014, showed her last collection for the label in a showroom presentation during Paris Fashion Week, having skipped the runway this season after a banner 50th anniversary year that culminated in an outdoor fashion show last September on the newly christened Allée Sonia Rykiel in Paris.
Her departure comes amid steadily declining revenues at the loss-making house, whose founder died in 2016. In recent years, it has been hit hard by the successive impact of the Russian financial crisis, the slowdown in consumer spending in Asia and the impact of terrorist attacks on tourism to Paris and the rest of Europe.
One source estimated that revenues at Sonia Rykiel are down to between 20

EXCLUSIVE: Dunhill Partners With Mr. Bags for White Day

SHANGHAI — White Day, a.k.a. the male version of Valentine’s Day, has become increasingly popular in China, a country inundated with Eastern and Western commercialized, romantic festivals. Celebrated one month after Valentine’s Day, on March 14, the holiday became popular in Japan, before spreading to other East Asian countries, including China. The concept behind the day is that men are repaid by their loved ones for the effort they put into making Valentine’s Day special.
This year, White Day will be celebrated by British luxury men’s wear brand Dunhill and popular Chinese influencer Mr. Bags with a limited-edition collection of 368 pieces, with the edition number etched inside each bag. The number of pieces was chosen by Tao Liang of Mr. Bags as it is a combination of Chinese lucky numbers, as well as his own personal lucky numbers. This is just one example of the attention to detail paid by the online entrepreneur, whose previous luxury bag collaborations have sold out within minutes. “It’s not like we want to use this number to create something lucky. It’s just that I want everything to be perfect,” said Liang.

EXCLUSIVE: John Galliano and Nick Knight Reunite for Maison Margiela Film

PARIS — John Galliano and Nick Knight are rekindling their decades-long creative partnership with a new short film for Maison Margiela showcasing its pillow-shaped Glam Slam bag.
The result is no ordinary handbag campaign: The collaboration with Knight’s Showstudio has resulted in a 360-degree film shot in negative image that will be screened on Saturday and Sunday at the Serpentine Gallery in London.
Even the standard two-dimensional version ranks as an immersive experience, consisting of footage drenched in psychedelic hues of model Duckie Thot in a series of science fiction-inspired sets. A soundtrack by DJ Jeremy Healy, another longtime Galliano collaborator, features lyrics from Roy Orbison’s “In Dreams.”
“John and I have had an artistic relationship, a shared admiration, a love for each other, which has gone on for over 30 years,” Knight told WWD in an interview, noting that he first met the designer on a photo shoot for i-D magazine in 1985 and has created campaigns and editorial images with him ever since. “When we went through the Dior years together, I was there for 10 years with him and since then, I’ve been waiting for a way to come back and work with John again. EXCLUSIVE: Heron Preston on Opening Paris Men’s Fashion Week

PARIS — “Streetwear on the runways of Paris has always been that vision that I’ve shared with my friends, the ultimate opportunity to present some new fresh ideas in a city and platform that we have always looked up to,” said Heron Preston, who today at the Palais de Tokyo will present the first runway show of his namesake label, as part of the official calendar of Paris Men’s Fashion Week.
Call him a quick learner. Preston, who was “raised” by the skate culture in San Francisco where he grew up, and who first started making noise in 2012 with his art-project bootleg spins on the Givenchy Rottweiler T-shirt, said that it was only around four years ago, when he started working with Kanye West, that he was introduced to the world of Paris fashion.
A former art director for West, Preston — who’s considered a post-Internet Renaissance man — worked at Nike and was also a part of the Been Trill art and DJ collective with Virgil Abloh, Justin Saunders and Matthew Williams.

EXCLUSIVE: Cara Delevingne Goes Nude for Balmain Campaign

BARING IT ALL: Olivier Rousteing has chosen Cara Delevingne to be the face — and body — of the Balmain spring 2019 campaign, the brand announced on Wednesday.
The British model and actress, who opened the Balmain spring 2019 show in Paris last October, strikes a pose for two daring images shot in black-and-white by Berlin-based photographer Dan Beleiu.
In one of them, Delevingne and Rousteing pose topless. The designer is depicted standing behind Delevingne, his hands covering her breasts. “It references all the iconic album covers of the Nineties, which were big pop culture moments of our childhood,” Rousteing, who was born in 1985, told WWD (Delevingne was born in 1992.)
“The campaign shows the reunion of two skin tones, one black — or mixed race — and one white,” explained the designer. “Choosing to pose naked was all about authenticity. We’re going back to basics: I wanted something pure and transparent.”

Cara Delevingne fronts the Balmain spring 2019 campaign.

EXCLUSIVE: Net-a-porter Unveils the ‘Colombian Collective’

“Imagine you are in Cartagena for the weekend, spending your days at the beach and at night you are going to different parties and dinners,” said Elizabeth von der Goltz, global buying director at Net-a-porter. That whimsical idea was the starting point for the e-tailer’s newest exclusive curation of brands and capsule collections called the “Colombian Collective.” The vacation-wear assortment of clothing and accessories, unveiled Jan. 15, comes in the form of mini capsule collections from designers firmly anchored in the roots and culture of their native of Colombia.
The retailer has picked up a lot of designers from the South American country as of late which organically led von der Goltz to the ideation of a collective theme. The curation includes ready-to-wear capsules from Johanna Ortiz, Esteban Cortazar, Silvia Tcherassi, Verdelimon and The Lazy Poet. Accessories and jewelry designers in the mix include Bibi Marini, Mallarino, Mercedes Salazar, Carolina Santo Domingo, Hunting Season, Verdi, Magnetic Midnight and the Muzungu Sisters.

EXCLUSIVE: Christopher Raeburn Gets Ready for the Next 10 Years

LONDON — Ten years after generating buzz with a first collection of eight garments made from military parachute fabric and big ambitions around recycling, Christopher Raeburn is gaining even greater recognition in an industry that is waking up at last to environmental sustainability and responsible design.
As Timberland’s global creative director, the London-based designer sees an opportunity to give his sustainability mission a broader, more global platform, while at his own label, Raeburn has brought on board his brother and fellow designer, Graeme Raeburn, as performance director, a new role.
The brothers are now aiming to push the boundaries of design, material innovation and waste reduction further and to redefine what success means along the way.
“For us, success is not about Raeburn products being in every store or on every street corner, quite the opposite. We want to look at growth in a much more modern way than just incremental numbers,” Raeburn said from his East London studio as he was preparing his fall 2019 show, set for Jan. 6 during London Fashion Week Men’s.

EXCLUSIVE: Moschino to Host Men’s 2019 Show in Rome

MILAN — Moschino creative director Jeremy Scott is ready to take Rome, WWD has learned.
The Italian brand will show its men’s fall 2019 and its women’s pre-fall 2019 collections with a special runway event to be hosted the night of Jan. 8 in the Italian capital.
“I have chosen to show the collection in Rome at the historic Cinecittà studios as the show is an homage to the great Federico Fellini who filmed some of his most iconic films there,” Scott said.
“I’ve taken inspiration from his body of work and the amazing characters he has created from the films ‘Roma,’ ‘La Dolce Vita,’ ‘Satyricon,’ ‘8 1/2’ and ‘Casanova,’ to name a few.”
Scott is not the first international designer to choose Cinecittà as the set of his show. In December 2015, Karl Lagerfeld hosted the Chanel Métiers d’Art fall 2015 runway show at the Roman studios, where he recreated the streets of Paris.
The Moschino runway show will coincide with the Florentine men’s trade show Pitti Immagine Uomo, which opens the same day and ends on Dec. 11.
Previously, Scott has shown his men’s collections for the Moschino brand in London, Los Angeles and Milan.

EXCLUSIVE: Thylane Blondeau Readies Fashion Line

FASHION FOCUS: Thylane Blondeau couldn’t find that perfect sweatshirt, so she decided to design her own. And that led to the 17-year-old French model and actress — a L’Oréal Paris brand ambassador — to conceive a full urban clothing line under the brand Heaven May (after her middle name), WWD has learned.

Comfort was key. One sweatshirt has a hood that can be zipped up over the wearer’s head. “So I can hide my face — you know, when you are sleeping on the plane,” said Blondeau, who has been working with Paris-based designers, sending

EXCLUSIVE: Maison Alaïa Opens Digital Flagship in Partnership With Yoox Net-a-porter Group

PARIS — Maison Alaïa, one of the industry’s most discreet brands, is planting its flag in the digital sphere with the launch today of its first online store in partnership with Yoox Net-a-porter Group.
The introduction of Maison-Alaia.com, a project started with the house’s namesake founder, who died unexpectedly in late 2017, marks an important milestone
in the history of the cult brand and reflects parent company Compagnie Financière Richemont’s commitment to investing in its future. Richemont also owns YNAP.
Communications executive Annika McVeigh has just joined Maison Alaïa as director of communications following a seven-year stint as director of communications at Celine, amid a flurry of exhibitions dedicated to Alaïa’s exacting, sculptural designs. That includes a soon-to-wrap retrospective at London’s Design Museum, which the designer, who died of heart failure, helped curate.
Maison Alaïa operates two brick-and-mortar flagships: a three-story boutique opened on Paris’ Rue de Marignan in 2013 and a store on London’s New Bond Street, whose ribbon was cut in April by longtime Alaïa friend and muse Naomi Campbell.
Net-A-Porter became the brand’s first online retail partner in 2017. The new digital flagship falls under YNAP’s Online Flagship Stores division, helmed by Francesca Tranquilli, through a five-year partnership.

24 Sèvres Teams with Louis Vuitton on Exclusive Capsule

LONDON — 24 Sèvres is continuing its commitment to offer exclusive product from LVMH-owned labels that don’t have wide e-commerce presence.
After teaming with Céline on an exclusive range, the retailer’s next project includes the release of an exclusive capsule with Louis Vuitton.
Five of the most buzzy products from the label’s fall 2018 collection have been reissued for the capsule, including a black logo dress, the popular “Vanity” structured tote bag in taupe, the “Party” aviator sunglasses in blue-tinged frames and the famous Archlight sneakers recreated in a blue, yellow and white color palette.
“As the exclusive retailer for Louis Vuitton, 24 Sèvres has been a partner of the Maison since day one. This collaboration was a natural next step,” said a company representative, pointing to the retailer’s commitment to offering unique pieces that can’t be found anywhere else.
“This has informed the regular capsules and collaborations released since the launch in June 2017. Exclusive product is at the center of our product strategy.”
The retailer added that more capsules are in the works and it’s looking to engage a mix of luxury and contemporary labels that reflect the “mix and match Parisian lifestyle” and the way its brick-and-mortar counterpart, Le Bon Marché is

PARIS — In one of the latest twists in the trans-Atlantic fashion show shuffle, Longchamp is planning to stage its first official runway show at New York Fashion Week this fall. Known for its best-selling Le Pliage bag, the French leather goods firm has expanded its ready-to-wear offering over recent years as part of its repositioning as a lifestyle brand.
The New York show is scheduled for Sept. 8, with the venue yet to be confirmed. The family-owned brand also plans to stage an event on its home turf at the Opéra Garnier in Paris on Sept. 11.
The NYFW show will cap Longchamp’s 70th anniversary celebrations and a U.S.-centric year for the brand. Building on its ambition to be seen as a fashion brand, Longchamp in May opened its Fifth Avenue flagship with a dedicated space for rtw and shoes in the center of the main floor, and launched a clothing and accessories capsule with Shayne Oliver. Meanwhile, Kendall Jenner, the new brand ambassador, is on board for four seasons, beginning with the fall 2018 campaign.

EXCLUSIVE: Penélope Cruz Is Chanel’s New Brand Ambassador

NEW FACE IN TOWN: Chanel’s haute couture show today will have a Latin flavor: Spanish star Penélope Cruz is due to attend the display in her new capacity as ambassador for the French fashion house.
The Oscar-winning actress will be the face of the brand’s cruise campaign, shot by Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel said in a statement provided exclusively to WWD.
“It’s such an iconic brand and Karl is a genius, and I’ve been admiring everything he’s done since I was a little girl, so it’s such a pleasure working with him. He’s like the king of fashion and we had a really, really interesting photo shoot, so to be in front of his camera is an adventure,” Cruz told WWD.
Debuting in Bigas Luna’s 1992 film “Jamón Jamón,” in which she starred opposite her future husband Javier Bardem, Cruz has since worked with directors including Stephen Frears, Rob Marshall, Woody Allen and most notably, Pedro Almodóvar.

EXCLUSIVE: VFiles Announces Runway 10 Show, Mentor Committee for New York Fashion Week

It’s back to the runway for VFiles, which will be holding its 10th show on Sept. 5.
Last season, instead of the traditional runway/performance extravaganza the company hosts, it staged “Be Heart, Make Noise,” an immersive music and fashion event done in collaboration with Adidas Originals. In the past, runway shows included celebrity guest judges such as Khloé Kardashian and Young Thug. For VFiles Runway 10, the brand is bringing its event a bit more down to earth by, for the first time, appointing a committee of eight industry leaders that will select and mentor show contestants throughout their journey to New York Fashion Week. After that, the VFiles team will provide mentorship for the following season. The pivot brings a slightly more serious — yet welcome — tone to the show that has otherwise been high on experimental fashion.
The mentor committee includes: Julie Anne Quay, founder and chief executive officer of VFiles; Laura Brown, editor in chief of InStyle magazine; Rio Uribe, designer and founder of Gypsy Sport; Candy Pratts Price, fashion consultant; Anna Trevelyan, stylist and creative consultant; Erin Magee, founder of MadeMe; Paul Cupo, designer, and James Costas-Michael, merchandise director of VFiles.

THE BEAT GOES ON: Faith Connexion and Swizz Beatz are making things official.
The rapper, DJ and producer, who has long been a fan of the collaborative label, has designed a capsule collection of 11 pieces that will be shown at the brand’s spring 2019 presentation in Paris on June 21, and hit stores this fall.

“I love being partners with Faith because it’s the brand of freedom and the future. It’s also an honor to be working with the amazing Nina Chanel, who is a true artist in every form,” he said in a statement.
Faith Connexion president Maria Buccellati noted the tie-up was part of a long tradition of bringing together “creative souls” at the label, which has previously worked with influencer Sita Abellan, street artists Vincent Dacquin and Pisco Logik, and brands including Disney, Kappa and K-Way, among others.

Net-a-porter on Keeping Exclusive Capsules Actually Exclusive

CAPSULE CRAZY–Another day, another “exclusive” capsule collection. If that adjective fails to excite any longer, you’d be joining a growing set of voices in that view.
Conscious of consumer fatigue and a saturation point for limited edition products, Net-a-porter is trying to reinvent the future of an exclusive capsule.
Calling it “a work in progress”,  Elizabeth von der Goltz, global buying director for Net-a-porter said, “We’ve done them for such a long time. All of them almost have to be brands–we can’t say we don’t [let them]–but we like to be the only retailer you’re doing an exclusive collection for the year.”
She continued: “We’re seeing so much out there it’s getting a bit noisy to keep it really special. Every design needs to be unique and different. It’s not just a coloration, it [needs to be] different from the past seasons,” she said.
Since von der Goltz joined Net-a-porter, collaboration highlights include the debut of a Balenciaga collection, the Fendi logo project and securing a role as Kith’s exclusive online retail partner for women’s.
“There’s so much competition than when [Net-a-porter] started,” von der Goltz said. “The number one focus is to offer the best curation, the best edit, and in the markets that we’re strong,

Start-up accessory brand Beltology is taking things up a notch as they launch their first collaboration with graffiti artist and sometimes restaurateur and nightlife impresario, André Saraiva. The limited-edition collection, Beltology x André, launches exclusively in Barneys New York’s retail locations and online June 2 during the retailer’s thedropLA@barneys events.
Beltology founders Andrew Heffernan and Anna Lundberg were local fans of Saraiva’s now shuttered Café Henri in New York when they approached him with the idea.
“We were looking to collaborate, but we thought he might be too big for our brand. But when we started telling him our brand’s story and talking we could see that he represents so many things we want our brand to represent: colorful, fun and carefree, plus he is so incredibly charming,” Heffernan explained.
The result is a limited-edition capsule collection of five new colorways of Beltology’s signature stretch woven belts, each belt has a pin with custom artwork by Saraiva and features a leather-wrapped buckle and foil stamp of his graffiti artist alter-ego “Mr. A.”

Exclusive: Gucci to Join Paris Fashion Week This Fall

MILAN — Continuing to speak with a French accent this year, Gucci’s Alessandro Michele is joining Paris Fashion Week this fall, WWD has learned.
Decamping from Milan for one season, the Italian luxury brand is to parade its spring-summer 2019 collection in the French capital on Sept. 24. The show marks the crescendo of a three-part homage to France conceived by Michele, creative director.
“Gucci is a global brand with deep and vibrant Italian roots and a visionary French shareholder, Kering,” said Marco Bizzarri, president and chief executive officer of Gucci. “When Alessandro told me of his desire to present the new collection in Paris — continuing the French-inspired narrative — I thought it was a perfect way to continue the creative homage to France.”
Bizzarri underscored that the show date marks the “transition day between Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks to avoid impacting schedules. We will then look forward to returning to Milan in February 2019.”
While foregoing a show in Milan for the season, the company is planning a special event to be held at the Gucci Hub on Wednesday, Sept. 19, the second day of Milan Women’s Fashion Week, scheduled to run Sept. 18-24. Details about the event are being kept under wraps.

EXCLUSIVE: Stella McCartney’s Sketch for Meghan Markle’s Wedding Reception

PLAY IT AGAIN, STELLA: The Duchess of Sussex — her family and wedding guests — just couldn’t get enough of Stella McCartney this weekend. Although McCartney wasn’t the official dresser for Saturday’s nuptials, she certainly came close, creating outfits for the day under her Bespoke label.
After changing out of her white Givenchy Haute Couture gown, Meghan Markle moved onto Stella McCartney for the evening reception, by all accounts a lively affair during which the bride broke with tradition and made a speech.

She wore a sleeveless white silk crepe gown with a high collar, and bare shoulders, pairing the dress with Aquazzura satin shoes that had baby blue soles. The clean lines and silk fabric of McCartney’s dress echoed the minimal, unembellished dress she wore for her walk down the aisle.
“I am so proud and honored to have been chosen by the Duchess of Sussex to make her evening gown and represent British design,” said McCartney. “It has truly been one of the most humbling moments of my career and I am so proud of all the team on this stunning sunny royal day.”

Exclusive: Kim Kardashian West to Be Honored at CFDA Awards

If Donatella Versace, Naomi Campbell and Carolina Herrera, along with most of the biggest names in American fashion and various celebrity dates/presenters weren’t enough, Kim Kardashian West will grace the CFDA Fashion Awards next month as an honoree. Kardashian West is to be the first recipient of the CFDA Influencer Award.
According to CFDA president and chief executive officer Steven Kolb, it was all Tommy Hilfiger’s idea during the board meeting to decide the recipients of this year’s special honors. “Tommy Hilfiger said, ‘If you think about influencers and how they’ve changed our industry, I think we should acknowledge that,’” said Kolb. “[The board] all agreed that Kim was someone who has really impacted the industry and has changed the way brands are presented. She’s a friend of a lot of the designers and has had great influence on fashion globally.” Kolb said that with few exceptions — Rei Kawakubo and Johnny Depp among them — a condition of receiving a special award is mandatory attendance, to which Kardashian West agreed almost immediately.
Kolb couldn’t say whether the Influencer Award would be an ongoing thing after this year, but he did note the benefits that come with honoring a one-woman tentpole like
