The North Face, National Geographic Create Line Made From Plastic

The North Face is teaming with National Geographic on a limited-edition Bottle Source collection that will launch today on the brand’s e-commerce site.
The line of sweatshirts and T-shirts is created from single-use plastics found in streams in popular public spaces including Yosemite, the Great Smoky Mountains and Grand Teton National Parks. The collection is emblazoned with the words, “Waste Is Over,” which speaks to The North Face’s commitment to using plastics in alternative ways. It features both The North Face and National Geographic logos as well.
According to the company, more than 8 billion metric tons of plastic have been produced since 1950, and that number is projected to increase to 34 billion metric tons by 2050. As of 2015, only around 9 percent of plastic was estimated to have been recycled.
For every Bottle Source product The North Face manufacturers, it will donate $ 1 to the National Park Foundation to support sustainability projects and programs.
The prices for the collection range from $ 35 for a short-sleeve T-shirt to $ 60 for a hoodie.

The North Face Finds Its Inner Fashion

Tim Bantle, global general manager of The North Face, described the brand’s transformation from a collection of technical clothing and gear for serious explorers to a label that’s in-demand in the fashion world and collaborating with Supreme, Junya Watanabe and Sacai.
Bantle began by showing The North Face rock, which appears on all of its products, “at the end of Yosemite Valley, there’s this beautiful, monolithic rock,” he said. “It captures our historical essence.”
Bantle is a climber who spent 12 years at Patagonia, and prior to that, worked in guiding and retail. Showing a photo of a frozen tundra, he said, “This is where the most elite climbers in the world go — to the middle of Antarctica to do new climbs.”
Likening The North Face to NASA, but for earthbound exploration, Bantle said, “We enable people to go there and do that. It’s given rise to our most important and iconic products. Those products are part of an Expedition System launched in the Nineties.…We developed these products basically to climb Mount Everest.

Ryan Reynolds Named Face of Armani Code Scent

PARIS – Ryan Reynolds has been named the face of Armani Code, the Giorgio Armani men’s scent franchise first launched in 2004. He will appear in advertising created with Reed Moreno, starting in February, that coincides with a new addition to the line, Code Absolu.
The actor and entrepreneur shared with WWD his thoughts on fragrance and acting.
WWD: How does being the face of a fragrance difference from the other professional roles you’ve had?
Ryan Reynolds: Making the short film with the incredibly talented Reed Morano isn’t too different from working on a full-length film. So in essence, the job was just as much fun, only slightly shorter.
WWD: What drew you to the project?
R.R.: I love Armani. I love the timelessness of the brand. There’s something incredibly cinematic about campaigns like this, and because of that fact it feels like a natural fit.
WWD: What is your relationship to scent: Are you a longtime fragrance lover? If so, can you remember the first scent you wore?
R.R.: Scent is one of the most powerful types of memory. When I was a kid, my dad wore a cologne that’ll never leave my psyche – for both good and bad reasons. Ha!

Bella Hadid Tapped as New Face of True Religion

STAYING TRUE: True Religion is betting on a second coming. The Manhattan Beach, Calif.-based denim brand, which set the stage to emerge from bankruptcy late last year, has tapped California native model Bella Hadid to be the new face of the brand.
Like the premium denim stalwart, Hadid is said to embody past and present, edgy and everlasting qualities, at least according to True Religion, which called her “the natural choice to meld the iconic essence of the brand with the modern view of its future.”
An all-star creative team was assembled to shoot the fall campaign, which will begin appearing in media on Aug. 27 and in all store windows across the U.S. and U.K on Sept. 6. Photographer Boo George, stylist Mimi Cuttrell, and hair and makeup duo Jen Atkin and Mary Phillips created the imagery and looks to usher True Religion into a new era that honors the heritage of the brand.
“It was a great experience shooting an iconic denim campaign in Los Angeles,” Hadid said. “I grew up with True Religion and was excited to play a part of the brand’s next chapter.”

Steve Aoki to Be Face of Diesel’s New Watch Collection

Steve Aoki has snagged his newest fashion industry partnership.
The electronic dance music producer and DJ will become the watch ambassador for Diesel, serving as the face of the brand’s first transparency watch collection, which is launching today.
Last year, Aoki teamed with Asics to serve as a brand ambassador and footwear designer. This supplemented the Dim Mak fashion and lifestyle label he created more than a decade ago and his partnership in Vision Street Wear.
The deal with Diesel is intended to promote the new blue transparency watch line, the inspiration for which was drawn from the indigo dyeing of jeans, a hallmark of the brand. The new watch collection displays cream details on the dial that are inspired by the stitches used in denim, and cases and straps that fade from blue to crystal clear.
Andrea Rosso, creative director of licenses for Diesel and son of founder Renzo Rosso, said he’s known Aoki for a while and believes he and Diesel “have something in common. The North Face Says, ‘Walls Are Meant for Climbing’

NORTH FACE’S NEW ASCENTS: Walls have all sorts of undertones, given the politically charged immigration debate. With its “Walls Are Meant for Climbing” initiative, The North Face is trying to get people to look at walls in a new way.
With this program and free climbing classes on Aug. 18’s Global Climbing Day, the company is trying to get people to look at walls as a way to unite people rather than divide them. The North Face is continuing its partnership with The Trust for Public Land to support the installation of public climbing walls in underserved communities. Last month, The North Face opened its first free, public bouldering wall in the Montbello Open Space Park near Denver. Last year’s Global Climbing Day featured 20,000 participants and this year’s goal is 100,000, according to Tom Herbst, global vice president of marketing at The North Face. “We want this day to be a reminder of the type of community we all want to live, work and play in — one that is inclusive, inspiring and unifying.”
The North Face has also signed up to sponsor Psicobloc, the 2018 Deep Water Solo Climbing Series, which starts this weekend in Park City, and continues Aug.

Slain Boy’s Father Sat Front Row in Court to Face Accused Murderers: ‘I Wanted Them to Look at Me’

Benjamin Eastman headed to court on Monday with a purpose: to look straight at the people accused of sexually assaulting and murdering his 16-year-old son after luring the boy into the woods.

Eastman sat in the front row of the courtroom gallery in Chehalis, Washington, alongside a friend and his mother, local TV station KOMO reports. He “leaned in” on the railing dividing the public from the defendants so that he could not be avoided.

“I wanted them to look at me,” Eastman told KOMO of suspected killers Jonathan Adamson and Benny Marquez. “I wanted to look them in the eye.”

Adamson, 21, and Marquez, his 16-year-old brother, are both charged with first-degree rape and murder as well as tampering with physical evidence and unlawful disposal of remains in the beating death of Eastman’s son, Ben.

Of the accusations, Eastman said, “When I heard they were charging them with rape and that process, that really blew me hard.”

Still, he said, “It’s easy to get caught up in the negative aspect of this, but I remember my son and his smile.”

Ben was last seen alive on June 23 before his body was found in a “shallow grave” on June 28 on a remote parcel of land owned by Marquez’s relative, according to authorities. Ben had been reported missing a day earlier, on June 27.

According to KOMO, Eastman said he wasn’t initially concerned that he hadn’t seen his son for a few days because the boy traveled between his home, in Randle, and his mother’s home and another relative’s residence.

According to charging documents obtained by PEOPLE, Marquez, who is being prosecuted as an adult, was a childhood friend of Ben’s. He and his brother allegedly lured Ben into the woods for a camping trip on June 24, but then knocked him to the ground and assaulted him for up to 45 minutes.

The charging documents allege that Adamson told police he and Marquez sexually assaulted Ben with a stick while Ben was still alive.

Before burying Ben along with his clothes and the shovel they used to dig his grave, the brothers beat him in the head with a rock to ensure he was dead, authorities suspect.

A motive in the attack is unclear.

Adamson and Marquez remain in custody in lieu of $ 10 million bail each, jail records show. They have not pleaded to their charges. Information about whether they retained attorneys who could comment on their behalf was not immediately available.

They are reportedly set to return to court on July 12.

Speaking to KOMO, Ben’s dad described him as a joyful, happy teenager and said the two enjoyed camping, fishing and dirt biking together. He said Ben was his best friend.

“You’d be in a bad mood and he’d just walk in — you’d just be mad as mad as you could be and he’d just crack a smile and make you giggle just over anything, always,” Ben’s brother Derek Dunaway told KOMO.

According to local station KIRO, hundreds gathered on Tuesday for a vigil at the White Pass Junior and Senior High School in Randle, where Ben was a rising junior. Principal Chris Schumaker said it was fitting the service began in the gym because Ben loved sports so much and was always in the gym.

“When you lose a brother or sister, everybody in a family closes ranks and that’s what we did our education family closed its ranks,” Schumaker reportedly said.

Ben and his family were fans of the Miami Dolphins, KIRO reports, and during the vigil relatives released aqua and orange balloons representing the team colors.

Said one attendee, Jessica Gleason, after the vigil: “Today gave me a chance to look and see and notice how many people I think are better people because of him.”

Boy Shot in Face By Mom in Murder-Suicide That Killed Brother Doesn’t Speak of Horror He Survived

Joey Slaight came close to dying when his mother, a recovering methamphetamine addict and schizophrenic, shot him point-blank in the head on Jan. 2, 2015, before shooting his little brother and then herself just a day after she had been released from a psychiatric hospital.

Joey’s brother, 6-year-old Jaxon, was killed immediately. Their mother, Morgan Slaight, 27, succumbed to her wounds 11 days later.

But Joey, now 11, survived.

The boy who spent the last three years in two different hospitals and in a pediatric brain rehabilitation center, learning to walk, talk and even eat again, finally came home to Oklahoma on March 31.

Now he lives with his paternal aunt, Andra Munoz, her husband, Jason, and her four children: Max, 15, Brooks, 12 and 4-year-old twins Champ and Tripp.

In this week’s issue of PEOPLE, Joey’s relatives and caregivers open up in-depth about his tireless recovery.

“From day one, we saw miracles,” says Munoz, Joey’s legal guardian, who updates his milestones on the Facebook page Joey Strong. “He kept getting better and better, and doctors were saying, ‘We just don’t understand why this is happening.’ ”

Despite the challenges Joey has overcome, no one knows how much he remembers about the horrors of that fateful morning in 2015. His doctors asked his family to avoid talking about the shooting and let Joey bring it up when he is ready.

Still, the trauma and monumental loss he suffered seem to be simmering in his subconscious: One of his first words was “gun,” as well as “almost died,” Munoz says.

Joey hasn’t yet mentioned Morgan or Jaxon by name during his waking hours, she says. But one night when her mother, Joey’s grandmother Randa Slaight, was staying in the room with him at Oklahoma’s The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital, where he spent four months in 2015 after he was released from the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, “she heard him whimpering and calling out for his mom.”

Munoz he says Joey has only said Jaxon’s name once, when he was under anesthesia. The two did practically everything together, with Joey often looking after his younger brother.

“They were very close,” she says.

“He’s been saying ‘my brother’ since he’s been home with us,” Munoz says — and he often tells her he plays outside with “a little boy. But there is no little boy there.”

Coming to terms with what he does remember from the day his whole world collapsed is “one of the unknown areas for our family,” Munoz says. She remains hopeful that he will work through it in time, as he has faced many other seemingly insurmountable obstacles so far.

“There’s no limit on what he can accomplish,” she says.

Joey’s Home Life Now

His family is happy to say that Joey is doing things like any other kid. He plays Xbox, eats dinner with his family and cuddles up with his aunt to hear his favorite bedtime stories.

Just weeks ago, they went on a weekend trip given to them by Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Texas.

“I never thought we would ever be able to bring him to a water park to bring him to play,” Munoz tells PEOPLE. “It’s all just amazing.”

To defray the costs of his outpatient care, Joey’s family has set up the online fundraiser Joey Slaight’s going home fund.

While he received high-quality care, part of why he did so well has nothing to do with medicine, says Becky Mitchum, his Joey’s speech language pathologist at NeuroRestorative Timber Ridge in Arkansas, where he spent the last two years.

“A big part of his recovery is that Joey is loved,” she says.

Adds Randa, his grandmother: “Joey has all of us around him with love and he will always have us right with him.”

“Faith got us through this, and what keeps us going is the hope that Joey will keep doing better and better,” Munoz says. “We hope to help others with Joey’s story.”

The line, dedicated to winter sports and après-ski, mixes technical pieces with classic Chanel codes like tweed, leather and camellia motifs.
Robbie is pictured against a background of blue sky and clouds wearing items including a soft chunky sweater, a parka or a down jacket. The eight visuals will break from June 10 in the July editions of leading international magazines.
“This shoot was one of the greatest experiences of my career. The energy and vibe on set was so wonderful and collaborative,” Robbie said in a statement.

Alexandra Shipp to Receive Women in Film Max Mara Face of the Future Award

MILAN — Alexandra Shipp will be the 13th recipient of the annual Women in Film Max Mara Face of the Future Award.
The actress will be honored at the 2018 Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards on June 13 at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Shipp will meet Max Mara’s owners, the Maramotti family, and attend the brand’s fall 2018 show today.
Past recipients include Natalie Dormer, Kate Mara, Rose Byrne, Hailee Steinfeld, Chloë Grace Moretz, Katie Holmes, Zoë Saldana, Elizabeth Banks, Ginnifer Goodwin, Emily Blunt and Maria Bello.
Shipp is best known for her role as the iconic mohawked superheroine Storm in 20th Century Fox’s “X-Men: Apocalypse.” She is also set to appear in the next X-Men franchise, “Dark Phoenix,” due to be released on Nov. 2.

The Serbian player, who celebrates his 30th birthday today, is ranked number two in men’s singles tennis and has racked up twelve Grand Slam titles. He hired Andre Agassi to be his new coach following his loss to Alexander Zverev at the Italian Open final on Sunday.
Agassi will join Djokovic in Paris for the French Open, which kicks off on May 28. His previous coach was Boris Becker, who departed last December, after three years working with Djokovic.
The tennis player will act as a brand ambassador and will appear in advertising campaigns for the French clothing label founded by René Lacoste and André Gillier. Born in Yugoslavia, Djokovic has been playing tennis since he was four and is a resident of Monaco.
The announcement follows the expiration of his five-year deal with Japanese fast-fashion retailer Uniqlo, which appointed him as its global brand ambassador in 2012. Previously, Adidas and Sergio Tacchini provided his on-court attire. Djokovic has also been an ambassador for Seiko watches since 2014.
According to Lacoste, Djokovic embodies the values of its founder as they both share traits such as “fair play, tenacity and elegance.”

Stephen Colbert To Face FCC Investigation Over ‘Homophobic’ Donald Trump Joke

Stephen Colbert pissed off lots of people this week with a controversial rant against President Donald Trump on “The Late Show” and now he might have to pay for it ― literally.

Federal Communications Commission chairman Ajit Pai revealed that the agency would investigate the comedian’s reference to Trump on Monday’s show as Russian President Vladamir Putin’s “cock holster.” Many called the comment “homophobic.”

“I have had a chance to see the clip now and so, as we get complaints, and we’ve gotten a number of them, we are going to take the facts that we find and we are going to apply the law as it’s been set out by the Supreme Court and other courts and we’ll take the appropriate action,” Pai said on The Rich Zeoli Show on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT on Friday.

Pai added the FCC would follow the standard operating procedures and “make sure we evaluate what the facts are and apply the law fairly and fully.”

Colbert’s fiery two-minute routine, titled “Stephen says everything journalists wish they could,” included jokes about Trump’s tiny hands and missing tax returns. But it was the “cock holster” line that drew the most ire and subsequently inspired a #FireColbert hashtag on Twitter.

The late night show host responded to the controversy on Wednesday night, telling viewers he didn’t regret what he said because he believes the president “can take care of himself.” But Colbert did note if he were to do it again, he would “change a few words that were cruder than they needed to be.”

Addressing the claims of homophobia, he added, “I just want to say for the record, life is short, and anyone who expresses their love for another person, in their own way, is to me, an American hero.”

Variety reported that Pai’s response to Colbert’s monologue is “surprising” as “’The Late Show’ airs outside the FCC’s long-established ‘safe harbor’ time frame of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. in which the commission has the authority to police allegations of indecent and obscene material on the airwaves.”

Pai told The Rich Zeoli Show that if the commission finds Colbert violated FCC regulations he would most likely face a fine. 

Still, Colbert probably isn’t sweating the investigation too much. “The Late Show” drew its best ratings on Thursday night since its premiere week in 2015.

2017 Cannes Film Festival: Isabelle Huppert Named Face of Kering’s Women in Motion Program

WOMAN IN MOTION: Kering has chosen award-winning actress Isabelle Huppert as the face of the third edition of its Women in Motion program at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
The French actress, who won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar this year for her performance in Paul Verhoeven’s “Elle,” will appear on the official poster for the program of events, which ranges from talks with industry figures to the Women in Motion Awards, to be handed out at a dinner on May 21.
Kering, an official partner of the festival since 2015, said it chose Huppert because of her exceptional career and her strong links to the festival. Chimp Hurls Feces At Zoo’s Crowd, Nails Grandma Right In The Face

Talk about a crappy trip to the zoo.

A grandma got nailed in the face with a piece of poo by a dirty-handed chimpanzee in a YouTube video that’s gone absolutely ape on the web.

Guests were watching a boisterous chimp hooting and hollering at the bottom of an enclosure at the John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Sunday when without warning the chimp made an underhanded throw towards the crowd.

The act fired up screams and laughter among the people. As the camera turned to look at the object of the commotion, one woman summed it up perfectly: “It got Grandma!”

There, sitting in the front row, grandma turned to reveal a chunk of feces stuck to her nose. (Everyone was laughing, but we can only imagine what happened when they got home.)

In a statement, the zoo acknowledged the filthy incident but suggested that the chimp’s behavior was fueled by the audience’s own antics.

“One of the chimpanzees is very focused on and likes to interact with people. Sometimes, this chimpanzee will exhibit behaviors that some people respond to with laughter, loud noises, and imitation. This, unfortunately, encourages even more of this behavior and resulted in the situation on Sunday,” the zoo stated in a Facebook post.

The YouTube video’s description also discourages “taunting” and “teasing” of animals in zoo habitats, stating: “Zoo staff would like to keep animals as calm and comfortable in their habitats as possible. It is critical to not tap on glass, shout at the animals, or attempt to feed them.”

Though the video is listed as having been filmed by a member of the zoo’s staff, the zoo, in its statement, said that it was taken by a guest and “not a current zoo employee.”

The zoo added that its staff met with a chimpanzee behavioral specialist over this past winter to encourage “more appropriate behaviors” among their animals. They also plan to install additional barriers to prevent such an incident from happening again.

Not everyone responding to the Facebook post agreed with the idea of more barriers, however, or the zoo apologizing for what happened ― as unfortunate as the incident was.

Serena Williams Blows Kiss to Fiancé at Australian Open as She Advances to Face Sister Venus in Finals

There was love on and off the court at the Australian Open on Thursday.

After securing her victory over Croatia’s Mirjana Lučić-Baroni, Serena Williams took a moment to blow a sweet kiss to her fiancé, Alexis Ohanian, as he watched her adoringly from the stands.

In a photo of the sweet moment, the 35-year-old tennis great is shown with her right hand to her lips, preparing to blow the kiss to the Reddit co-founder.

Ohanian, 33, has proven to be one of Williams’ biggest fans, posting Instagram photos of her matches as she battles it out in the tennis tournament.

On Thursday, he praised his wife-to-be and her sister, Venus, as they both advanced to the final round of the competition.

“This is going to be a historic #WilliamsFinals at the #AusOpen,” Ohanian captioned an Instagram photo post. “I’m so proud and grateful to witness this. I hope you all will be watching these two legends AKA my fiance and sister.”

After her win, Serena told reporters it’s very meaningful to be matched up against her sister.

“This is probably the moment of our careers so far,” she said, per CNN.

“It’s the one time that I really genuinely feel like no matter what happens, I can’t lose, she can’t lose. It’s going to be a great situation,” she also said.

The 22-time Grand Slam champion revealed her engagement to Ohanian last month. Fittingly, she broke the news in a poem — on Reddit.

Ohanian commented on Williams’ Reddit post, writing, “And you made me the happiest man on the planet.”

Williams later subtly unveiled her engagement ring in a (you guessed it) Reddit post, showing herself posing alongside Ohanian. She titled the post: “Engagement shoe game.”

She earlier opened up about the engagement during a post-match press conference after securing a first-round victory in the Australian Open, saying, “It feels good.”

Many consider opera to be old-fashioned, what are your views ?

It’s not unusual for people to think of opera as something decadent, old fashioned or anachronistic. The reality is that opera is just a play that is sang, that is how music literature describe. It’s a genre in which stories are sang in a special manner.

Stories about kings, battles and encounters with the Gods have distanced opera from popular songs. That’s why, when it arose in the fifteenth century it was only accessible to the elite.
Nowadays, opera is within anyone’s reach, modern productions are making it more accessible to the public. Singers’ image has also evolved tremendously. We were once static figures on stage strictly focused on vocal performance, today we are more image conscious and enjoy an active media presence.

You are part of a younger generation of opera singers, how would you describe your job to someone who is not familiar with opera?

Being an opera singer requires a dedication that only athletes or people that play an instrument can relate to. It’s a career that comes with great sacrifice. The singer must always be ready, he has to keep studying to keep up to date and have a personal life without burdens. The constant traveling and long rehearsals make it very difficult to have a conventional personal life. Nevertheless, it’s a vocational career and that is the greatness of it.

When you are out on the stage and the first compasses of the piece of music come to live everything becomes clear, everything is worth it, all the sacrifices are eclipsed with the satisfaction of singing at that level. It’s a thrilling and at the same time exhausting career that helps you grow every day as a professional and as a person. Facing the challenges of a musical score and the stage makes us people with great capability and resilience.

When did you start singing and decided to make it your career ?

I started singing when I was very little. My mother would listen to opera live streaming on the radio. Together, we would listen in the dark to those magnificent voices and I would imagine a woman with long hair and never ending capes wandering through marvelous places. I always told my mother I wanted to be like the woman in the radio. Later in life I would learn that woman was Maria Callas.
“I want to be an opera singer” is what I would reply at age 6 when asked about my aspirations.Three decades later, here I am!

If your life was an aria, which one would it be and why?

Well, it’s not easy to consolidate a life in an Aria. I would say there are Arias that represent moments and times in my life in a very surprising way, but the Aria I would say represents many moments and that I identify with is Violetta’s Aria from the First Act in La Traviata. A woman who won’t allow herself to fall in love because her career would be in jeopardy.

What is the most difficult opera role you have played? What was for you the easiest?

The most difficult role I have played is Norma, but I have to say that the most difficult performance was in a play by Carles Santos, a groundbreaking composer who wrote a play in which the singers were literally floating in the air- hanging in a harness. That is physically the most difficult role I’ve played.Nothing is easy but if I had to choose something achievable I would say Mozart’s Requiem.

Who is your role model, who inspired you?

Maria Callas and Montserrat Caballe are my two exclusive and defined role models.

You are considered teacher among teachers? Why is that? What makes you unique as a teacher?

My many years of experience and passion for human anatomy lead me during a moment in my life to learn what was really happening in my body when I sing: what parts of the body are involved, why, how do you get the highs in your voice or why is the diaphragm so
important.

All these questions (the same my students ask me today) needed an answer and I found them in studying human anatomy. That is why throughout the years I have developed an infallible teaching method that can be taught to anyone. The art of singing is made up of 90% of technique, without it you are jumping into the abyss with no safety net.

My knowledge of the vocal instrument is uncommon and I have worked very hard to teach each student how to use it, sculpting stage ready voices and singers that are physical, mental and emotionally prepared for first division.

You are very involved with children’s rights,why?

Children are magnificent creatures and at the same time a great responsibility. Our future is theirs but their present is ours to take care of. They are pages in a blank book, they learn anything you are willing to teach them. That is why a free, renaissance education is so important. An education that opens the doors of knowledge and prepares them to make their own life decisions.
Child abuse and taunting in their early years are devastating and prevents any chance of stability or opportunity.

It is not an easy path to be an opera singer, what would you change within that arena?

In the opera world, I would change a lot of people. These are difficult times and we are “trapped” in a dynamic of personal preferences that has nothing to do with the quality and excellence of singing capabilities. Our representatives and directors are the ones that decide who sings and where. Trends change and sometimes you sacrifice quality for other criteria that is far from what opera should be.

How is Begoña off the stage, is there a difference between the opera singer and the person?

Offstage Begoña is a woman who takes care of her friends, watches over the voices that have trusted her every day and someone who fights for human rights, who believes in individual freedom. A woman of strong character and at the same time sensitive to the fundamental values. She knows what she wants and what she doesn’t want.

On stage, she is a confident, professional, and serious (even when she is funny), hardworking and without inhibitions. You can’t take your problems on stage nor your insecurities or personal battles.

What are your future plans?

The future is part of a world of dreams and illusions. Right now I’m writing a book about “The Alberdi Method”. The vocal technique that I developed and I use with my students. This is very motivating, it will include all my vocal knowledge and experience, a magnificent and unknown instrument. I will reveal all the secrets to singing and will dissipate any doubts people have about singing.

What is your biggest dream ?

My professional goal is to take my voice to the Scala Theatre in Milan and The Metropolitan opera in New York. I have been singing for over 25 years and have been invited to almost every theatre in the world. I have sung in Barcelona at the Liceu Theatre, at the Royal Theatre in Madrid, opera Houses in Berlin, Frankfurt, Venice, Rome, Vatican City, Mexico, Brazil, Korea and countless other countries around the world. However, these two theatres are the Mecca of a singer, the zenith of a career.

My personal dream is to keep enjoying what I do every day. To be able to improve people’s lives by working with groups and associations that help the less fortunate. Also, I would like to keep helping the younger generations discover the wonderful world the opera is and to take their voices to the top. I would love to leave good memories in those people that know me and just keep enjoying every day whatever the universe has in store for me.
