Myro Receives Investment From Serena Williams, Carmelo Anthony

Myro has found investors in Serena Williams and Carmelo Anthony. The tennis legend and the basketball star have invested in the gender-neutral refillable deodorant brand through their respective venture capital firms Serena Ventures and Melo7 Tech Partners with Stuart Goldfarb. The investment is part of a $ 7 million seed-extension funding round that includes Western Technology Investment. “I’m always trying to find the next big thing, and refillable deodorant just feels relevant to the time we’re living in. With the way the world is now, it’s so important to invest in sustainable brands doing positive things,” said Anthony. “I treat every decision I make as the biggest decision of my life, so being deliberate about working with brands that align with my personal values is really important to me.” Founded by Greg Laptevsky in 2017, Myro is a direct-to-consumer, gluten-free and vegan deodorant that can be refilled with new deodorant pods. Refillable cases and deodorant pods are available in five colors and scents that retail for $ 10. A subscription service delivers packs of three refill pods quarterly for $ 10 each as well. Rapper Dave East Releases Diamond Supply Co. Collaboration Ahead of First Single From ‘Survival,’ Out Friday

“I got it tatted on me, ‘born broke, die rich,’” said rising rapper Dave East, lifting his white T-shirt and revealing the cursive letters marked below his navel.
The 31-year-old New York City native, born David Brewster Jr., came from humble beginnings, becoming a Crip as a teen, and later, facing a stint in prison for selling drugs. Following the 2010 release of his first mixtape, “Change of Plans,” and the broader attention that followed with 2014’s “Black Rose,” he’s been forging a different path and is now signed to Def Jam Recordings. With 2.4 million Instagram followers and millions of YouTube hits on each music video (“Perfect,” featuring Chris Brown, has 34 million views alone), East is one to watch.
“Them four words mean everything to me,” he continued. It’s also the title of a 2016 collaborative EP with Philadelphia rapper Kur. “You’re born a certain way, but you don’t gotta die like that.”
All eyes were on the rising rapper as he held court on Fairfax Avenue, smoking a joint in front of Diamond Supply Co., where he celebrated his collaboration with the streetwear and skateboard label on Thursday evening.
Inside the shop, “born broke, die diamond” read the $ 36 T-shirts hanging

All the High Fashion Moments From Beyoncé’s ‘Spirit’ Music Video

Beyoncé’s “Spirit” music video is visually striking, both for its picturesque landscape and high-fashion moments.
Filmed in the Grand Canyon, Beyoncé is joined by a host of dancers and her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, dressed in looks ranging from Valentino’s spring 2019 couture collection to up-and-coming international brands, including Canadian designer Mark Fast and Brazilian brand Maison Alexandrine. The looks were styled by Zerina Akers.

The music video was debuted Tuesday evening and is a part of the upcoming “The Lion King” live-action reboot’s soundtrack, which Beyoncé curated and produced. Beyoncé herself voices adult Nala in the film and joined the film’s cast for the Los Angeles premiere on July 10, where she had a mother-daughter twinning moment with Blue Ivy, and for the London premiere on Sunday, where Beyoncé and husband Jay Z met the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The “Spirit” music video starts off with Beyoncé sitting in the desert wearing a color-blocked, exaggerated ruffle look from Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Valentino spring 2019 couture collection, which celebrated black women. She was joined by Blue Ivy, who wore a similar lilac-colored ruffle dress.

Moore From L.A.: Can Dockers Shed Its Dad Pants Image?

Dockers, the brand that invented casual Fridays, dressed Homer Simpson and inspired a 1991 episode of “Seinfeld” that had Jerry handwringing about dating a woman who liked a TV commercial for the chinos, is making a fashion play.
Owner Levi Strauss & Co., which had one of the most successful initial public offerings of the year, is putting renewed focus on the brand, hoping to strike gold again, this time with khaki — and a little help from some stylish Los Angeles friends.
Dockers tapped its go-to Hollywood collaborator Karla Welch, stylist to Justin Bieber and Tracee Ellis Ross, to design a capsule collection of five unisex styles now being sold at Dover Street Market, including $ 360 tapered pleated pants inspired by Fred Astaire. And it linked with cult L.A. upcycling brand Atelier & Repairs on three styles that debuted at the men’s wear trade show Pitti Uomo, including the “Kennedy” with chambray details and the “Traveler” with individual carpenter pockets for an iPhone and earbuds.
But can Dockers, forever the (saggy) butt of jokes, escape its goofy dad pants rep?
“For the last two decades, the business has been up and down and somewhat challenging,” admitted Levi Strauss & Co. chief marketing officer

Spider-Man: Far From Home’s Elementals Explained

A number of surprises concern the new web-slinging MCU film, Spider-Man: Far From Home, which debuts on July 4 with returning star Tom Holland. Not least is the fact that – at least initially – Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio (get the full story on Mysterio right here) may very well be an ally and not an antagonist (a situation that may evolve during the film, of course). But as for the villains we do know about, Spidey is called in by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to help out against a little group known in the comics as… the Elementals.

As reported by The Japan Times (via VG247) Miyasako, who plays Tsuyoshi Nagumo in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, reportedly attended a party five years ago, along with other comedians, that was hosted by an organised crime group. The comedians provided entertainment for party guests and were paid for their efforts. The North Face, National Geographic Create Line Made From Plastic

The North Face is teaming with National Geographic on a limited-edition Bottle Source collection that will launch today on the brand’s e-commerce site.
The line of sweatshirts and T-shirts is created from single-use plastics found in streams in popular public spaces including Yosemite, the Great Smoky Mountains and Grand Teton National Parks. The collection is emblazoned with the words, “Waste Is Over,” which speaks to The North Face’s commitment to using plastics in alternative ways. It features both The North Face and National Geographic logos as well.
According to the company, more than 8 billion metric tons of plastic have been produced since 1950, and that number is projected to increase to 34 billion metric tons by 2050. As of 2015, only around 9 percent of plastic was estimated to have been recycled.
For every Bottle Source product The North Face manufacturers, it will donate $ 1 to the National Park Foundation to support sustainability projects and programs.
The prices for the collection range from $ 35 for a short-sleeve T-shirt to $ 60 for a hoodie.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 Is Probably What You Wanted from the Original

Long story short: Dragon Quest Builders 2 is shaping up to be just like the original, but with smart new features and quality-of-life improvements. Many of those new features weren’t accessible in the demo I played at E3 2019, but you can get a glimpse of them in the trailer below.

According to the producers, the idea behind the original Dragon Quest Builders was to take a sandbox-style building game (i.e. Minecraft) and give it the structure of a, you know, regular video game. It was designed so that anyone, young or old, longtime gamer or novice, could pick up a controller and learn how to build cool stuff. Dragon Quest Builders 2 is based on those same principles, but expands your capabilities.

Bobby Hundreds’ Not So Surprising Path From Streetwear to Author

LOS ANGELES — Vernon is an industrial city south of downtown filled with low-rise industrial buildings, where big rigs heave and clog major thoroughfares. Here, as well as places dotting the San Gabriel Valley, is the California apparel industry’s beating heart, and it’s here, in a nondescript, 90,000-square-foot building, that The Hundreds sits. Framed art adorns one wall of the lobby entrance. There’s a screen printer, a recording studio and space to host the occasional punk show, most recently New York hardcore band H20. It’s what cofounder Bobby Kim (or Bobby Hundreds) calls a Never-Never Land of Lost Boys and Girls, holed up in a world created nearly 16 years ago.
WWD caught up with The Hundreds at an interesting time in its history. The business blew up, cycled into a contraction, the staff had to be cut and stores closed, but in recent years there’s been another upswing. The Hundreds is no longer an emerging brand, but it hasn’t been relegated to old and irrelevant either. Now it’s stretching its legs into a new endeavor — helping other brands get off the ground — through the fledgling Second Sons services arm.
Kim, on a more personal level, is perhaps at an
