Kristen Doute’s James Mae Gets Green

LOS ANGELES — James Mae, the rock-inspired line started by “Vanderpump Rules” cast member Kristen Doute, is taking new steps toward sustainability.
Doute’s line for spring includes some pieces made of either recycled fabrics or fabrics made from recycled water bottles. The move comes with the company’s shift to relocate manufacturing for its T-shirts and sweatshirts from overseas to downtown Los Angeles, with the line likely to continue getting greener as time goes on its cofounders say.
“Ideally, I think that is the goal to go completely sustainable,” said cofounder and creative partner Magen Mattox. “Right now, because we’re a brand new brand — we launched last June — we’re just trying to do it in the best way possible that we can manage.”
James Mae — named after Doute’s niece and nephew — launched as a direct-to-consumer brand with a foundation built on rock-inspired T-shirts. It’s now in talks with retailers. The company is likely to enter into wholesale around holiday, with the goal of distributing the brand through a combination of majors and boutiques.
The line includes tanks and T-shirts ranging from $ 36 to $ 45 and sweatshirts in the range of $ 55 to $ 65.

Nike Gets Naomi Osaka, Adidas Moves on With Beyoncé

Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka is now playing on Team Nike — although some were looking for her to go a different direction in the ultracompetitive world of sports marketing deals.
Nike revealed its partnership with Japanese-born Osaka, the world’s number-one women’s single tennis player, on Thursday. But fans will have to wait until the Stuttgart Grand Prix, which begins April 22, to see the 21-year-old tennis player on the courts in Nike gear.
The news came as a bit of a surprise as many thought Osaka was courting a new corporate beau.
In September, after Osaka nabbed the U.S. Open title from Serena Williams, Osaka was rumored to be in talks with rival Adidas for an apparel endorsement worth an estimated 6.5 million pounds, or $ 8.5 million. She already had a deal with Adidas, but the rumored arrangement would have made the tennis star the highest-paid female athlete ever to sign with Adidas. Osaka was also seen sporting Adidas apparel as recently as January while competing in the Australian Open.
While Nike nabbed Osaka, the jilted Adidas had some blockbuster news of its own — which it chose to release the same day the Nike-Osaka tie-up was announced.

Browns Gets On Board With the BFC’s NewGen Initiative

LONDON — British retailer Browns is amping up its efforts to support emerging talent by becoming the latest partner of the British Fashion Council’s NewGen scheme.
NewGen promotes London’s most promising up-and-comers by providing mentoring, financial support and showcasing opportunities during London Fashion Week.
As a partner, Browns said it will work toward strengthening the designers’ support network by further funding the scheme and providing mentorship programs that will focus on passing on the Browns team’s business and retail expertise.
Members of the Browns team will also sit on the NewGen judging panel to determine which designers will receive sponsorship in the coming seasons.
Current recipients include Halpern, Richard Quinn, Phoebe English, Matty Bovan, Liam Hodges, Kiko Kostadinov and Alighieri.
“Through partnerships like this, we will continue to demonstrate the Browns ethos, and we look forward to working closely with the BFC and the designers to build out meaningful initiatives with support and mentorship at the heart,” said Holli Rogers, the retailer’s chief executive officer.
Earlier this year, Browns also set up a new department dedicated to scouting and supporting young talent and is now looking to expand it into different segments, to reflect the huge variety of categories emerging talent can belong to.

DWTS’ John Schneider Gets Emotional Over His Strained Relationship with His Children

John Schneider is hoping he can mend his strained relationship with his three children.

In an exclusive clip of Monday’s Dancing with the Stars, the Dukes of Hazzard alum, who played Bo Duke on the comedy series from 1979-85, gets emotional while explaining how country music and DWTS has affected his life.

“What country music means to me is it’s three chords and the truth and it shines a light on things that happen in everyday life that are wonderful, not so wonderful, and that are heart-wrenching,” Schneider, 58, says.

“I’ve been going through a divorce now for four years and it’s awful. The worst part about it is that it’s wedged itself in between my three adult children and myself. Nothing I can do except hope one day one of my kids will call me up or show up. I look in the crowd every Monday thinking maybe tonight, maybe tonight.”

“If it weren’t for this music and now Dancing with the Stars, I don’t think I can survive it,” he admits. “It gives me great joy at a time where I desperately needed it.”

Earlier on in the season, Schneider briefly spoke towards his relationship with his children. whom he is not on speaking terms with.

“I’m hoping that I will do my family proud, I’ll do my love over there proud,” said Schneider told host Erin Andrews, referencing his girlfriend, Alicia, and added, “and maybe my children will speak to me again.”

After 21 years of marriage, Schneider’s estranged wife Elvira “Elly” Schneider filed for divorce in Los Angeles County on Nov. 14, 2014. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split, according to court documents.

In September 2016, Schneider — he shares adult children Leah, Chasen, and Karis with Elvira — was ordered to pay his ex $ 18,911 every month, TMZ reported.

But in June, Schneider was sentenced to three days behind bars in the Los Angeles County Jail in June for failure to pay more than $ 150,000 in owed alimony payments to Elvira. The actor was released on the same day as his initial booking because of California’s overcrowded prison system, but his legal woes were not done with that.

Schneider was also ordered to serve an additional 120 hours behind bars for contempt, but that sentence was suspended by the court on the condition that he fulfills a four-part list of conditions, including filing back taxes to help clear title to their property in Apple Valley so that it could be transferred to her, paying his ex half of his owed earnings from Maven Entertainment, and offering certain financial disclosures before the end of the year.

Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.

Selena Gomez Gets Animated in Latest Coach Campaign

Coach is showcasing a lighter side of Selena Gomez, its women’s ambassador, for its holiday campaign.
In the latest interaction, the actress is joined by a cast of animated animals as they audition to be featured in the Coach holiday windows.
The campaign, entitled: “Lights, Camera, Holiday,” breaks today and includes both print and video components.
There will be a series of short animated films written and directed by Henry and Rel of Supermarché, that will post on Coach’s social media channels. The films were shot in a raw, irreverent style and reveal the audition tapes of Gomez and her animal friends as they compete for a role to star in the windows.
The print component was shot in New York City and features Gomez stepping out of a vintage car holding the Parker bag in metallic leather.
The brand will also bring the campaign to life in its stores in North America through the use of augmented reality technology from CameraIQ while its Japanese customers will be able to play a party animals game in that country.
The campaign was created by photographer Steven Meisel, art director Fabien Baron, makeup artist Pat McGrath and hair stylist Guido Palau.

Fortnite: Compact SMG Further Nerfed, Building Gets Slightly Stronger

The current Fortnite meta got another small shakeup with a few building changes and a reduction of damage and other stats for the infamous Compact SMG.

Back in the v5.1 patch update, the initial health of a building segment the moment its put up was reduced. Some of those changes are now reverted with a wood wall getting a bump from 80 HP to 90, stone walls going from 80 to 100, and metal segments jumping from 80 to 110.

Both the epic and legendary variation of the Compact SMG are now a little less powerful with damage reduced from 22/21 to 21/20. The clip size also took a hit going from 50 to 40.

The Drum Gun got the biggest nerf with decreases in accuracy while jumping and targeting, increased damage fall off based on distance, additional environmental damage fall off based on player damage fall off, and a 40% decrease in its spawn rate.

Rapper Pusha T, who made headlines this year for his epic war of words with Drake, has tied the knot with longtime love Virginia Williams.

The wedding took place on Saturday at the historic Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach. The happy pair had some very famous friends on hand to help them celebrate. Pharrell Williams, a close friend of the groom, served as best man, while Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West enjoyed the ceremony with other guests.

The Dark Knight 10th Anniversary Gets Special 70MM IMAX Release

To commemorate the 10-year anniversary of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, Warner Bros. is bringing it to IMAX screens for one week only.

The Dark Knight will be screened across four select IMAX theatres in LA, New York, San Francisco and Toronto, with the aim to showcase its utilization of IMAX 70mm film and massive scale. Four of The Dark Knight’s major sequences were shot with IMAX cameras, including the Joker’s opening bank robbery, and Nolan has gone on to use IMAX cameras in his subsequent films.

Warner Bros. says the IMAX screening is intended to give the public a look at The Dark Knight as it was meant to be seen. Tickets for the opening day go on sale this Friday, July 20th. Showtimes are currently only announced for August 24th, but subsequent screening dates will be announced closer to release.

Knot Standard Gets New Investor

Knot Standard has gotten another infusion.
The New York-based custom men’s brand has received what it characterized as “a significant minority investment” from Provenance, a growth equity investment firm based in Los Angeles. Terms were not disclosed.
In 2015, the brand received a similar investment from Traub Associates.
Founded in 2010, Knot Standard currently operates showrooms in seven cities across the country and said it will use the investment to add showrooms in other markets around the country.
“Knot Standard created an extraordinarily loyal and valuable customer following in the premium/luxury segment of custom men’s apparel, with a true omnichannel system and culture,” said Anthony Choe, founder of Provenance. “We’re proud to partner with the company to replicate their success in other markets throughout the country.”

Note: this is a spoiler-free advance review for Green Lantern: Earth One, which will be released on Wednesday, March 14.

It’s difficult to understate the influence writer Geoff Johns has had on the Green Lantern franchise since 2004. Johns drastically revamped the mythology, introducing an entire spectrum of Lantern Corps and restoring Hal Jordan to greatness in the process. Even though Johns ended his Green Lantern run in 2013, his influence is clearly felt in every book that’s come along since. That’s all well and good, but at some point there comes a need for DC to try something new and push Green Lantern in a drastically different direction. If only for variety’s sake. Therein lies the appeal of Green Lantern: Earth One. For the first time since Green Lantern: Rebirth, it feels like we’re seeing a wholly unique take on the story of Hal Jordan.

DINNER TIME: Legendary Montparnasse Art Deco brasserie La Coupole, which was a home-away-from-home for Paris intellectuals and artists for much of the 20th century, got guests reminiscing at the Altuzarra show Saturday around lunchtime.

“It’s gorgeous,” enthused Naomi Scott of the mythical venue, with its painted columns, cupola ceiling and mosaic floors. “I’m kind of waiting for them to bring out the food, I wouldn’t mind. Food and fashion is a good combination.”
Speaking of food, Scott was planning a low-key dinner with friends Saturday evening, hoping her favorite French dish would be on the menu. “I love duck. How do you say it? Canard.”
For Pierre Hardy, the venue brought back memories too. “I have spent many a night here,” he said. “In the Nineties, it was really hype to have dinner here before going out, it’s a mythical place.”

Hugo Boss Gets a Makeover

DUBAI — Hugo Boss is making efforts to bridge the gap between the brand’s men’s and women’s lines. “We need to bring the woman closer to the [Boss] man and build on our heritage — it’s suiting, it’s precision,” Ingo Wilts, chief brand officer for Hugo Boss, told WWD while here to celebrate the opening of the brand’s new generation store at Mall of the Emirates.
“We have to rebuild the women’s. Our woman always has to be feminine and sensual but she also has to be sexy. I think the mistake we did over the past years, we went a little left, right and center,” said Wilts, who is responsible for all creative and brand management.
“We do need to address the younger customer in our product.”
But he added that they will be driven by styling, not age first and foremost. “You can dress a younger woman with the same product as you dress an older woman. It depends on the styling. Yooka-Laylee Gets Nintendo Switch Release Date

Yooka-Laylee will be released on Nintendo Switch on December 14th.

The game will initially be available only as a digital download, with a physical release still to be confirmed. Those who backed the game on Kickstarter and chose to receive a Wii U version, then chose to receive a Switch copy when the Wii U port was canceled, will receive a code on launch day.

Playtonic worked directly with Nintendo and Unity to optimise the new version of the game – it will run at 900p in docked mode, and 600p in handheld mode (you can see footage of the game in handheld mode below).

Canada Goose Gets PETA Protestors on Black Friday

Canada Goose had one of the busiest shopping days of the year interrupted by racous protestors.
Roughly 200-plus animal rights activists led by members of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals gathered in the late afternoon of Black Friday outside the year-old Canada Goose store in New York’s SoHo neighborhood. The block of Wooster Street where the store is located is home to a number of luxury and fashion brands, including Chanel, Balmain and Ted Baker.
While dozens of shoppers inside the Canada Goose store appeared to be doing little more than waiting out the protestors and a sizable crowd that had gathered to stare, photograph and in a few instances join in, PETA activists chanted, held signs and handed out fliers graphically describing and disparaging the use of down and coyote fur in Canada Goose’s popular winter coats.
A Canada Goose spokeswoman said PETA and other animal rights activist are “grossly misinformed” about the company’s practices around down and fur.
“They ignore the strict government regulation and standards that are in place, as well as our commitment to the responsible use and ethical sourcing of all animal materials in our products,” the spokeswoman said. “While we are unsurprised by their attempt

Stone Island Continues to Grow and Gets Bigger in Retail

MILAN — Stone Island continues to expand its retail network.
“We are opening a boutique in Venice in the first semester of 2018 and we are looking for a location in Tokyo,” said Carlo Rivetti, president of Sportswear Co., which is Stone Island’s parent firm, adding that the company is also scouting stores in Milan to relocate its unit in the Italian city.
The Modena, Italy-based company counts 20 stores.
These include a 5,382-square-foot flagship in Los Angeles, which was officially inaugurated earlier this month.
“This is not only our biggest store but also the most beautiful,” Rivetti said enthusiastically. “Since we opened last summer, we can say that it has been working really well, exceeding our expectations.”

Located at the corner of North La Brea Avenue and West 1st Street, the flagship occupies an entire building and features extensive windows facing the street. Designed to carry current collections as well as an exhibition space dedicated to making customers more familiar with the brand’s heritage, the store’s interiors are marked by the presence of blue crystal walls separating the spaces, which are decorated with the brand’s iconic Rose of the Winds logo.
