Jeremy Scott RTW Spring 2020

Is the world ready for a big-hair, heavy metal fashion revival? Why not? Van Halen front man David Lee Roth, Jem and the Holograms and the Misfits were the muses for Jeremy Scott’s spring 2020 collection, an acid-hued, teased-hair riff on the Eighties that conjured an intergalactic sci-fi rock-‘n’-roll fantasy (and a few prom dresses past). Much of the collection had a do-it-yourself spirit — by design. Leggings made out of neon-hued lace thong panties? Check. Acid-washed denim embellished with metallic patches? And how. “I just wanted to play,” said Scott, who has a singular ability to inspire fun in fashion that could be translated from the runway to a DIY mentality just as easily, mixing Western leather fringe skirts and zebra-patterned leggings, Spandex shorts and tail coats, green cheetah minidresses with crinkly tinfoil biker jackets, and oversize tropical print tailoring with surfing mummy print Ts. But there was some serious craftsmanship here, too. That trapunto tubular-quilted minidress was far out. Poufed-and-ruched electric floral bloom dresses looked sugary sweet, especially with Jem’s teased-out neon wigs. And the pièces de résistance were dresses and tops made of slinky multicolored chain mail scraps — with an assist from Los Angeles’ rock-‘n’-roll jeweler Michael Schmidt — for

Scary Chic: Jeremy Scott Shows Monster Moschino Collection at Universal Studios Hollywood

In the era of fashion-as-entertainment, it’s amazing it took this long for a designer to stage a full-fledged runway extravaganza at an actual Hollywood studio.
Jeremy Scott did just that Friday night in Los Angeles, bringing a monster of a Moschino Resort collection to Universal Studios’ eerily blissful suburban Americana stand-in used for “Leave it To Beaver,” “The Munsters” and “Desperate Housewives.”
It was the culmination of a lifelong dream for the designer, who has ambitions to make a film of his own one day a la Tom Ford, and remembered the first time he visited Universal Studios from Kansas City at age 13 in typical aw-shucks fashion: “We stayed at the Sheraton. I was with my family, and I told the other people in the hot tub I was going to be a famous star one day…I didn’t really think I was going to be a fashion star.”
The show was scripted from the moment guests entered the gate of the studio, hallowed ground for Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg – and for Hollywood’s most prolific costume designer, Edith Head. With a short video of Scott as tour guide, guests took the backlot tour trams, rolling past sets for “Psycho” and “Jaws” and

Why Jeremy Scott Is Obsessed With the Eighties

For Jeremy Scott, the Eighties isn’t a cyclical trend to be recalled every few years. The decade shaped his colorful, flamboyant aesthetic beginning in elementary school, while breaking down gender and social mores in a way that he says is especially relevant today. For the designer, being “obsessed” means living the dream: “My fashion sketches as a kid were always of pop stars wearing the designers I was excited about. Lo and behold, that’s still where I am today.” Here, he talks about the decade that keeps on giving:
WWD: Who were your biggest Eighties idols?
Jeremy Scott: My icons were Lisa Bonet and what she was wearing on “The Cosby Show.” I still think she is the most beautiful girl in the world. Another one to whom I attribute a lot of my persona and how I wanted to look was Cyndi Lauper. The fact she was using thrift store clothes in such a brash, fun and unapologetic way really opened my mind at such a young age.
WWD: In what ways did the pop stars of the Eighties influence you?
J.S.: They mixed gender stereotypes in a way that was mainstream. You had Boy George looking like a woman, Annie Lennox dressing

“Collaborations have been very popular for a long time, and we have done them in the past but never been that strategic in terms of what they can do for us as a business. This collaboration stretches what the brand stands for and what we can do design-wise,” said Andrea O’Donnell, president of Ugg.

UGG’s collaboration with Jeremy Scott.

The tie-up with Scott is the first one that covers all categories — women, men, kids and babies. Ugg collaborated on a women’s style back in 2010 with Jimmy Choo, and in October will debut a men’s collaboration with 3.1 Phillip Lim.
The eight limited-edition styles will retail from $ 90 to $ 1,195 at select global retailers and at five North American retailers: Just One Eye, IntermixOnline.com, Serenella, Chuckies and David Lawrence.

‘Hot Convict’ Jeremy Meeks Hangs With Nicki Minaj At AmFAR Gala

”Hot Convict” Jeremy Meeks is making the rounds at the Cannes Film Festival

The model, who was discovered after the Stockton police department posted his mugshot to Facebook, was released from prison in March 2016 and has had a skyrocketing modeling career ever since.

Meeks attended the amfAR gala on Thursday night. Dressed in all black with diamond skulls on his loafers, he smoldered on the red carpet before mingling with stars.

At the gala, Meeks mingled with various guests, including Nicki Minaj and designer Philipp Plein.

Meeks walked at Philipp Plein’s resort 2018 show in Cannes on Wednesday. The model appeared alongside Paris Hilton at the show and spent time time with Carine Roitfeld, the former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris.

“Thank you Philipp plein for an amazing show and Cannes experience!!!” Meeks wrote on Instagram.

‘Hot Convict’ Jeremy Meeks Deported From London

The American lawbreaker who became a viral internet sensation as the “hot convict” because of his visually arresting mugshot won’t get a chance to show England he’s become a model citizen.

Jeremy Meeks, 33, now a fashion model who had traveled to London for a photo shoot, was deported Monday night from Heathrow Airport because of his previous criminal record, according to the Daily Mail.

“I’ve been denied,” Meeks said as he walked through the airport, according to “Inside Edition.” “London don’t want me here. I done served my time. S*** is crazy. Don’t make no sense.”

Meeks, became known as the “hot convict” in June 2014 after the Stockton Police Department in California arrested him on weapons and gang charges, and his mugshot went viral. He spent two years behind bars, and was freed in March 2016.

The “hot con” has been working as a fashion model since February. But he never got beyond the airport for his London assignment.

Meeks’ manager, Joe Jordan, said his client’s paperwork to enter the U.K. was in order. Meeks also had a letter from his parole officer giving him permission to travel, according to the New York Daily News.

None of that held any sway with U.K. immigration officials, who escorted him onto a plane eight hours after he landed in London.

Jordan told the Daily Mail he hopes Meeks’ visa problem is temporary.

“He was on the right track for what we feel was going to be his new life. Now he’s very sad,” Jordan said. “Hopefully this is just a setback and he will be able to come back from this.”

Jeremy Scott Meets Fans during Milan Fashion Week

“What should I ask him?” and “my hands are shaking” were only two of the reactions overheard at the So-Milano concept store on Sunday night at a meet-and-greet  for shoppers with designer Jeremy Scott. The Scott-effect ranged from selfies and Instagram videos to more traditional proofs of affection, such as little chats with the designer and even hugs.
“The reaction has been phenomenal, everyone has been so supportive,” said Scott, who had shown his men’s and women’s pre-fall collections a day earlier.
Welcomed more as a rock star than a designer, Scott greeted his fans one by one during the cocktail at the venue, which showcased his namesake collection for spring 2017. Pin-up legs printed over shirts and pants, Barbie-pink dresses, fluo-colored accessories and pumps bearing his first name on the side were among some of the pieces presented in So-Milano’s signature spherical cases.
“Why here? It’s the newest, hottest store in Milan, so what better place to be and share my work with the people that love it so much?” explained the designer.

Jeremy Scott Creates a Collector’s Edition Barbie for Moschino

It’s official: Barbie now has a better wardrobe than us!

Moschino creative director Jeremy Scott has long considered Barbie a muse. She’s influenced him so much that the designer even dedicated his entire spring 2015 Moschino collection to Barbie. Talk about bubble-gum-pink everything—he went so far as to send a model down the runway on roller skates doing her best Roller Barbie. And now, his love for the flaxen-haired icon has gone a step further. Welcome, the Moschino Barbie:

moschino-barbie-1

“The thing I love most about Barbie, is that she is the ultimate muse, she’s worn every style and design imaginable and at the same time she’s had every possible profession you can dream of,” said Scott in a statement. “I wanted to bring all of the Moschino elements to Barbie, as I had done the reverse by bringing all of the Barbie elements to Moschino for the spring-summer 2015 collection.”

A Barbie look from the Moschino spring 2015 collection.

As such, Barbie is totally tricked out in Moschino gear. She’s wearing a slogan T-shirt, logo trimmed mesh knits, and a quilted leather bomber jacket with a matching pencil skirt. And let’s talk about the accessories! She’s wearing a leather cap, mini quilted cross body bag and—naturally, a Moschino shopping bag. Wait, we’re not done. She’s also donning mismatched earrings, several layered necklaces, sunglasses, a leather motorcycle bag, a backpack, and the unmistakable a logo chain belt. Hello, Barbie, can we read your closet?

The collector’s edition Moschino Barbie doll will be available for $ 150, exclusively at Net-a-Porter, starting on November 9. It will be part of a larger capsule collection, featuring real-life-human-size clothing and accessories.

Jeremy Scott Teams With Melissa on Runway Show Shoes

MAN MADE: If the music at Jeremy Scott’s forthcoming runway show in New York comes blaring from the speakers singing, “Life in plastic, it’s fantastic” — the infamous lyrics from Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” — it wouldn’t be without good reason. That’s because at Scott’s Sept. 14 show, models’ feet will be bound in plastic shoes — designed in collaboration between Scott and Brazilian plastic footwear brand Melissa.
Scott — who will make his fashion week appearance straight off a noted involvement with MTV’s Video Music Awards — designed two Melissa-produced shoes for his spring show. Further information regarding their make, appearance and retail availability could not be learned.
In teaming with Melissa, Scott joins the Brazilian brand’s past collaborators including Vivienne Westwood and Karl Lagerfeld.

Jeremy Scott on Madonna’s Coachella Wardrobe

GREAT SCOTT: Jeremy Scott was one of the few who knew that Madonna would be Drake’s surprise guest at Sunday’s Coachella finale because he had worked out the singer’s Moschino look — her second one in a week after “The Tonight Show” — ahead of time with stylist Arianne Phillips. “I was watching from the front with Katy Perry and Rihanna and even they didn’t know, to give you an idea of how insider it was,” he said of Madge’s appearance. “It made me really happy that she gave me such a great homage, with her dancers wearing pieces from my Adidas collection as well,” said Scott, who stayed an extra day in the desert. “The pull of Coachella was too strong to stay away,” he said, though he’s “more selective” about which performances he goes to nowadays. “I went to see Bjork like 12 years ago, so I’ve definitely seen the festival in all its incarnations, and it only seems to get bigger and better.” Now that he’s conquered the Super Bowl and Coachella, the Met Ball is the next marquee event on Scott’s list, though he’s staying mum on who his date — or dates — will be.

Bitter Beer and Burning Whisky: An Interview With Musician Jeremy Mage

2015-01-04-May19.04JeremyMage0211.jpg

With the release of his latest music video, psychedelic singer-songwriter Jeremy Mage offers up a year-end toast to the “hell of a year” of 2014. Featuring Reggie Watts (incoming house band leader for CBS’s The Late, Late Show) on background vocals, and a host of Hungarian shoe puppets, Waste This Year is a darkly comic, commercially successful poke in the eye to unbridled avarice.

Recently I chatted with the Grammy award-winning Mage about his latest musical endeavor.

Stroud: You describe Waste This Year as a “wounded but not dead, apocalyptic but hopeful goodbye to 2014.” Why?

Mage: A lot of things came to a head in America this year. Somehow the combination of social media, a rollercoaster global economy, and very real racial tensions — combined with having a black President — seems to have brought up a lot of the divisions in America. Stuff is coming to a head and a lot of people are feeling even though we’re more connected, we’re more apart than we’ve ever been. Although I don’t know if that perception is actually true, because I think that it’s just easier to encounter the people that we disagree with now.

Stroud: What inspired you to write this song?

Mage: The melody came first and it just came with those words. Then I had to write backwards and figure out what I was talking about. Because I’m not a nihilistic person, I had to figure out what could it mean, how Waste This Year could actually be a positive thing. So I ended up writing a drinking song, basically a toast and a little bit of throwing up hands, about making a difference. But at the same time, it’s a call to community and recognition of a common enemy.

Stroud: Who’s the enemy?

Mage: In the song, the enemy is greed – greed and social control. I imagine some kind of pub in a mining town, maybe in a Road Warrior future, and this is what they’re singing. They can’t outright call the masters to task, but they can sing and the subversive content is bubbling underneath.

Stroud: What’s your favorite line in the lyrics?

Mage: I guess “fill my veins with pomegranate wine” is one of my favorites, or “the winking dollar casts his eye on everything.” When I’m singing it live, my favorite line is “If you know the enemy, you’ll recognize your friends” because it lets me look out at the audience and indicate to them that I consider them, in that moment, my friends.

Stroud: Comedian and musician Reggie Watts sings background vocals. How did he become involved?

Mage: An artist that I work with, [Afro-beat queen] Wunmi, brought me on tour to Australia. We did that country’s biggest festival circuit, which is The Big Day Out. It’s amazing — hundreds of bands from Indie rockers all the way up to the biggest global names. We were on what’s called the Lily World stage. Reggie Watts was one of the other acts, so we got to spend quite a bit of time together. He’s a genius, just as funny off-stage as he is on, but also very tenderhearted and very considerate with a lot of humility.

We ended up going to an after party, really late at night, and finished in my hotel room. It was about 3:00 in the morning. Reggie led the others in singing Waste This Year. I got a great take that ended up being in the final mix.

Stroud: What’s next for you?

Mage: I’m supporting my record on Tummy Touch, which is Jeremy Mage and the Magi, self-titled. Waste This Year is one of the tracks and it has been a really successful single in Europe, where it’s been getting a lot of play on the radio.

Stroud: Anything more you’d like to share with readers?

Mage: The spirit of the song, the reason I say “apocalyptic but hopeful,” is because that’s the kind of crossroad humanity is at right now. We’re facing some stark choices for our survival as a species on the planet. We stand on the precipice with one foot already hanging over, but I think that the spirit of community and sharing can ultimately triumph over greed.
