Misha Nonoo Discusses Opening a Pop-up, the Relevance of New York Fashion Week, But Nary a Word About Meghan Markle

Who needs a runway show, when you can open a four-month pop-up store? While many past and current designers participating in New York Fashion Week weigh the upsides and downsides of staging a show, others are paving new routes to tie into the buzz. For Misha Nonoo, that means unveiling a 2,300-square-foot pop-up at 150 Greene Street on Monday. The New York-based designer will offer a variety of her signature pieces, but shoppers won’t find anything that she helped develop in conjunction with her friend Meghan Markle’s yet-to-be-released Marks & Spencer collection. The Duchess of Sussex’s Smart Works capsule collection is reportedly debuting Thursday and will benefit the charity that helps unemployed women. Having ditched wholesale for a direct-to-consumer business model nearly three years ago, Nonoo decided on the SoHo location based on analytics culled from online sales. To give the pop-up “a good run,” it will be during the key fall and holiday selling seasons. “Based on how the location works for us and how everything else works out in the store, we’d love for the space to become permanent. We’ll see if we decide to stay in that exact location or we move around. But New York is such an important

Meghan Markle Surprises Fans with Emotional Speech at Invictus Games’ Closing Ceremony

The Invictus Games concluded Saturday with a speech from its founder Prince Harry — and an unscheduled one from his new wife Meghan Markle.

The couple both addressed the crowd in Sydney, Australia, thanking the veterans and wounded service members whom the Paralympics-style competition honors for their strength and sense of humor.

For the occasion, the Duchess of Sussex, 37 — known for putting her own spin on classic style — wore an olive green custom tuxedo dress from Italian designer Antonio Berardi. She paired it with peach Casablanca pumps from her go-to shoemaker Aquazzura.

Meghan also wore statement jewelry, opting for large black and gold dangly earrings and bangles to play off the simplicity of her frock — a bold choice for a woman who usually prefers more minimalist accessories.

Pulled into an elegant updo, Meghan’s hair gently draped her face.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry wore a smart grey suit and a white button-down with no tie.

During the closing ceremony, the mom-to-be (Meghan and Harry, 34, are expecting their first child in the spring!) took the stage as the crowd erupted in cheers.

“It’s such an honor to be here tonight with all of you and supporting my husband at the Invictus Games, which he founded four years ago,” she began. “In a short span of time, the games have evolved into an international platform of some of the best athletics and sportsmanship you could ever witness, coupled with a camaraderie and close-knit community, which can only be defined as the Invictus spirit.”

Meghan also revealed that she has a special connection to the wounded and recovering service members and veterans who participate in the games.

“I’m not sure if many of you know this, but a few years ago, before I had met my husband, I had the incredible honor of visiting troops deployed all over the world, from the U.K. to Italy and Afghanistan, and several other countries,” she recalled.

“In traveling to these military bases, I was given a very special glimpse into the lives of those who serve our countries. I was able to see the unshakable bonds between service men and women on the ground together, but at the same time to feel the palpable longing for family and friends while deployed,” she continued.

Then she shared how moved she was by one veteran who excitedly gave Harry and her a hug last week.

“The Novak family from Chicago is a prime example of this very thing,” shared Meghan. “When their son Ryan suffered a severe injury leaving him paralyzed from the waist down, doctors said he would never be able to walk again. But after speaking to his mom, Karri, it was clear that it was through Ryan’s strength of spirit, and with the unwavering support of his parents, that he was able to prove all of those doctors wrong.”

Meghan continued: “Not only has Ryan competed in sailing, swimming and athletics this week, but when Harry and I saw him at the finish line of the sailing competition, he literally jumped into our boat — with dexterity and ease, by the way — to give both of us a hug.”

“Seeing Ryan’s mom on the water that day, waving a flag to cheer him on was a moment I will never forget,” Meghan said.

Later, the couple presented gold medals to Team USA as they congratulated each player on their victory.

Meghan Markle Effect Takes the Invictus Games! See How Host Channeled the Duchess with Her Ring

The Meghan Markle sparkle has taken the world by storm — even at the Invictus Games.

Just before Prince Harry‘s opening speech, presenters Kumi Taguchi and Nate Byrne took the stage, and viewers quickly noticed that the large, aquamarine ring Taguchi was wearing looked familiar.

The ring bears a striking resemblance to stunning aquamarine sparkler that Meghan wore when she stepped out in her evening ensemble after the couple’s royal wedding in May.

The emerald cut ring belonged to Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, who famously wore it to an auction of her own clothes at Christie’s in 1997. The jewel is part of a set — the other piece is an aquamarine bracelet, where it’s connected by five strands of pearls. Diana wore both to a gala dinner in Australia in 1996.

Since Prince William and Harry inherited their mother’s jewelry collection, very little of it has been seen in public. But some pieces have been given to the royals’ wives.

Prince William poignantly gave the diamond and sapphire sparkler that was Diana’s engagement ring to Kate Middleton when he proposed in 2010, a lovely reminder that she was with them on their royal wedding day.

Prince Harry was able to mirror that gesture by giving Meghan the aquamarine ring, which, it has now been revealed, was a gift for Diana to wear in place of her engagement ring after her divorce from Prince Charles in 1996. Diana, who died in 1997, was given the square-cut beautiful piece by her good friend Lucia Flecha de Lima, the wife of the former ambassador of Brazil to the U.K.

Lucia, who died last year at her home in Brazil at 76, “bought it to replace the engagement ring Diana no longer wanted to wear once her marriage ended,” veteran royals journalist Richard Kay (who was a friend of Diana’s) writes in the Daily Mail.

According to Kay, Meghan has the inherited ring with her on the couple’s 16-day royal tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand, so she may wear it again soon.

Meghan has already worn a pair of butterfly earrings and a gold bracelet that also belonged to Diana on the first day of their tour in Sydney.

In addition, the Duchess of Sussex’s engagement ring is made up of three diamonds, with one large stone in the center flanked by two smaller stones on the sides. The two side stones are from his late mother, Princess Diana‘s personal collection, while the center stone is from Botswana, a country that is close to Harry’s heart.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Next Royal Date Is Right Where They Belong — Find Out Why!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are about to come face-to-face with their royal namesake!

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to make their first joint visit to Sussex (about 50 miles south of London) on October 3, where they will see the historic Sussex Declaration, open a Tech Park and visit with locals.

Queen Elizabeth gave the couple their brand new royal titles — the Duke and Duchess of Sussex — on the morning of their royal wedding on May 19. Bestowing titles to members of the royal family on their wedding day is a longtime tradition. When Prince William and Kate Middleton got married, they became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Just like most royal dukedoms, the title Duke of Sussex carries quite a bit of history. Though it first appeared as early as the 800s, it’s traceable origins start with Prince Augustus Frederick, son of King George III (who was the British monarch during the American Revolution).

Meghan and Harry’s first port of call in the southern English region will be a blending of both their backgrounds. The royal couple will be shown a rare Sussex copy of the American Declaration of Independence, which is kept in Edes House, in the heart of Chichester, West Sussex.

The Sussex Declaration is one of only two contemporary handwritten ceremonial manuscript copies (the other is the signed copy housed in the National Archives in Washington, D.C.), and it comes only weeks after Harry and Meghan’s trip to see Hamilton, which captures some of the story of the Revolutionary era.

The next stop is along the coast at Bognor Regis, where Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, will officially open the University of Chichester’s Engineering and Digital Technology Park, which partners with local industry to offer students practical experiences in the sectors.

They are then scheduled to leave the county of West Sussex and travel along the coast to East Sussex to see the seaside city of Brighton and Hove. They start at the Royal Pavilion, which was built in the mid-1780s and was used by George IV as something of a pleasure palace. The grand structure has a flamboyant style, with expense spared on its interior decorations, matching its royal patron’s tastes for fashion and the arts. His regular visits to Brighton helped put the seaside town on the map and it grew in importance after that.

The couple will then walk to Survivors’ Network, a charity that supports survivors of sexual violence and abuse in Sussex to talk with to service users, volunteers and staff.

The royal couple’s final engagement of the day will be a visit to JOFF Youth Centre in Peacehaven. The community hub offers activities, from a chill out area to a music practice room and Harry and Meghan will meet young people to hear their plans and priorities around mental health and emotional wellbeing.

The visit is part of Takeover Challenge Day, which is a national initiative that encourages organizations to put young people into real life decision-making positions.

Meghan Markle Reveals the Secret Way Her Wedding Veil Honored Her First Date with Prince Harry

It doesn’t get more romantic than this.

In a sneak peek from the upcoming HBO documentary Queen of the World, Meghan Markle opens up about the secret tribute to her first date with Prince Harry hidden within her spectacular 16-foot wedding veil.

While getting a chance to see her dress for the first time after tying the knot in May, Meghan, 37, reveals the special significance behind a “piece of blue fabric” stitched inside.

“Somewhere in here there’s a piece of blue fabric that’s stitched inside — it was my something blue,” Meghan remarks while inspecting the veil in the video above.

Sweetly, she adds, “It’s fabric from the dress that I wore on our first date.”

Of course, the cathedral-length veil also represented a special connection to the Commonwealth.

The bride’s headpiece, made from silk tulle, featured a trim of hand-embroidered flowers from each of the 53 counties in the Commonwealth, the family of nations linked to the U.K., in threads and organza.

“I’m really over the moon to find out that I would make this choice for our day together,” Meghan says in another clip. “And I think the other members of the family had a similar reaction and just appreciation for the fact that we understand how important this is for us and the role that we play, and the work that we’re going to continue to do within the Commonwealth countries.”

Meghan adds: “It was good news all around, I think, so I hope people like it as much as I liked helping to create it.”

Designer Clare Waight Keller previously told PEOPLE that the idea came to her after several conversations with Meghan about what “story” she wanted to tell with the celebration.

“There was a conversation early on about the story that we were going to tell through this wedding,” she said. “Part of what I wanted to do was talk to her about what type of stories they could be. The fact that her and Prince Harry will be working a lot in the Commonwealth was something that I thought was really intriguing and could be something built on to be part of the day.”

“We had different conversations back and forth and I came up with the idea of maybe representing each of the countries, the 53 countries of the Commonwealth, through their flora and fauna,” she added. “We both loved the story of that. It also meant that single one of those countries also journeyed up the aisle with her. It was a really poetic moment.”

The documentary features members of the royal family speaking about Queen Elizabeth and the Commonwealth — and it will air just before Harry and Meghan head to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga on their first official tour of Commonwealth nations.

A palace source previously told PEOPLE that Meghan takes part in “a conversation, a stand-up chat” for the film. The series will also feature appearances from Harry, Prince Charles and Prince William.

Queen of the World premieres Monday, Oct. 1 on HBO at 8 p.m.

Why Kate Middleton Doesn’t Have a Cameo in the Queen’s New Documentary (and Meghan Markle Does)

With the newest member of the Windsor clan, Meghan Markle, taking a starring role on the new Queen of the World documentary, focus has turned to whether Kate Middleton will be featured in the film.

The answer is not much. The royal mom of three was on maternity leave after the birth of Prince Louis in April when a lot of the filming was conducted.

With the Commonwealth being the theme of the documentary — and the British meeting of the heads of government from the 53 nations, called CHOGM, in April a central element — she simply wasn’t taking part in functions with the family at that time.

“Kate was largely out of action during the main filming,” an insider with the documentary says. “CHOGM was a focal point and she was due to give birth any minute then.”

But, don’t despair, Princess Kate is seen — just not speaking directly to the camera or in conversation, as Meghan, Harry and William are.

“There is film of events and receptions which she attended, so you do see her,” the insider adds.

In a clip from the upcoming documentary, Meghan is seen viewing her wedding dress for the first time since her royal wedding. A huge smile crosses her face as she looks at her bridal outfit from top to bottom, then touches her veil, which features hand-embroidered flowers from each of the 53 counties in the Commonwealth.

The same production company that made the documentary, which airs on HBO on October 1, did secure the royal mom’s first major TV interview when she spoke for the documentary, Our Queen at 90 in 2016.

Queen of the World tells the story of Queen Elizabeth’s impact during her extraordinary and record-breaking reign, and airs on ITV1 in the U.K. in two parts, starting on September 25th and on HBO in the U.S. on October 1.

How Meghan Markle Will Make Harry Feel Like a True Prince on His Birthday

Meghan Markle knows how to take a celebration up a notch. And for Prince Harry’s 34th birthday on Saturday, the duchess, who has called herself a “pretty good cook and a firm believer in handwritten notes,” will no doubt pull out all the stops for her new husband’s big day.

Thanks to her former love of social media and her now-defunct lifestyle website, The Tig, Meghan has given us major insight into how she’ll plan a birthday fit for a prince!

She’ll write Harry a love note.
“If given the option between fingers to keyboard, or pen to paper, I will always choose the latter,” she wrote. “Because amongst the throwback things that I love (a ’62 porsche speedster à la Dylan McKay in 90210, a bevy of Vargas girls, a Busby Berkeley film, or cooking over a charcoal grill), what trumps all is my love of writing (and receiving) a handwritten note.”

She’ll give a thoughtful gift…
“It’s easy to grab another T-shirt for your man — but you’ll likely steal it for PJs anyway. Instead, give him something creative that he’ll actually enjoy.”

…like a new book
“There’s simply nothing like making that first fire in the fireplace (or hey, just lighting a candle) and cracking open a new novel where endless possibilities abound. Because whether it’s to escape, to inform, to inspire, or to just turn off the world while you sit by a pool, I love getting lost in a good book.”

She’ll be affectionate.
“Let’s discuss the simple pleasures in life: holding someone’s hand so seamlessly that you can’t decipher their fingers from your own, fresh baked bread smeared with briny French butter, a smile that says you are endlessly adored, the sizzle and smell of sautéing onions, and finding the perfect book,” she wrote.

She’ll plan a fun trip.
“I have the travel bug not a week goes by without me finding my derrière on a plane.”

She’ll wear something special.
“Perhaps it’s the girly girl in me. Maybe it’s the fact that if given the choice between punk and pretty, I will always vote for pretty. For women looking like ladies. For the opportunity to wow with class and grace and fairytale level ball gown beauty.”

She’ll take him to a yoga class.
“I was born and raised in Los Angeles, a California girl who lives by the ethos that most things can be cured with either yoga, the beach, or a few avocados.”

She’ll cook him a special birthday meal.
“Some days you have a bite of food that makes you go ‘woah.’ Your eyes widen, you look down at the plate, almost pushing things around with your fork to see what’s making it so special. You take another bite, smiling as you do so, almost laughing, because it’s just so damn good.”

She’ll plan an epic date night.
“There’s nothing like a jewel box sized restaurant to add to the intimacy and coziness of a night out — because, let’s be honest — some the best meals of our lives have less to do with the food specifically, and more to do with the overall experience; the space being high on the list.”

She’ll be romantic.
“ think it’s safe to say that we all fall in love a little bit every day. Be it with your partner, your crush, even a person in passing that energetically makes your heart go pitter pat. Whatever the case may be, when you meet someone that makes you beam, you must take note.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Just Took the Next Step by Getting a New Dog

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a new addition: a pup to share their lives, PEOPLE has confirmed.

The couple got the dog — believed to be a Labrador — in early summer, and the pooch has been joining them at their country getaway in the Cotswolds area and Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace in London, a source says.

Harry and Meghan’s new best friend will be a welcome addition to their rural walks. Dog lover Meghan, 37, had to leave one of her pets, Bogart, behind when she arrived in London from Toronto last November, when the couple got engaged. The rescue dog, a companion for Meghan’s Beagle Guy, was given to friends.

Guy, meanwhile, has been embedded into Meghan’s new royal life, and was at her feet as she sat for her hair and makeup on her wedding morning.

A spokeswoman at Kensington Palace declined to comment on the new arrival.

Harry and Meghan’s move mirrors that of his brother Prince William and Kate Middleton, who got Cocker Spaniel Lupo shortly after their wedding, settling him into life with them in Anglesey, North Wales.

Meghan Markle Has Very Special Plans for Her Wedding Dress

Royal wedding fans are in for a treat as plans are being made to put Meghan Markle’s stunning Givenchy gown on display.

Insiders predict that the dress will be displayed at Windsor Castle, the venue for Meghan’s May 19 wedding to Prince Harry. Royal officials are believed to be discussing a suitable time and details around the exhibit.

Designed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy, the stunning silk gown featured an open bateau neckline and sculpted waist. The train flowed in soft round folds cushioned by an underskirt in triple silk organza.

The process was “very collaborative,” Waight Keller said in an interview the day after the wedding, adding that Meghan was familiar with her work.

“It was a wonderful way to start the collaboration with her, finding out what she wanted for her day and just to find the absolute perfect style for her,” Waight Keller told reporters. “Part of it was really a conversation in the beginning and then through a series of sketches that I proposed to her. We exchanged conversations about what would be the ultimate lines and proportions and the scale of the dress.”

In the summer after Prince William and Kate Middleton wed in 2011, the palace made Kate’s dress — created by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen — a centrepiece of the annual opening of Buckingham Palace. More than 350,000 filed past it in the first six weeks.

An official at the Royal Collection Trust, which would create any display at the castle or Buckingham Palace, didn’t have a comment and wouldn’t be drawn on what discussions might be underway.

Meghan Markle Steps Out with Prince Harry on Her Birthday to Celebrate a Friend’s Wedding

Meghan Markle is surrounded by lots of love on her birthday!

She and Prince Harry found themselves in a familiar place on Saturday — in church — as they celebrated another special wedding. The newlyweds attended the ceremony for one of Harry’s oldest family friends, Charlie van Straubenzee, 30, who married his 27-year-old girlfriend, Daisy Jenks, in Surrey on Saturday afternoon.

And it was a double celebration as Saturday marks Meghan’s 37th birthday — her first as an official royal after her own wedding in May.

Also at the nuptials in the English countryside (about 50 miles south of London) were another couple preparing for the second royal wedding of the year – Princess Eugenie and her fiancé, Jack Brooksbank. They are set to walk down the aisle at St. George’s Chapel (Meghan and Harry’s wedding site) at Windsor Castle on October 12.

Contrary to reports, Harry, 33, is not serving as best man at his good friend’s ceremony. But he is involved in the proceedings, including usher duties. He’ll also likely have a hand in some of the fun shenanigans planned for the reception.

Not in attendance were Prince William and wife Kate Middleton, who have been on summer vacation with their children, Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 3, and Prince Louis, 3 months, in Mustique.

The wedding comes nearly three months since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s own fabulous day on May 19. A month later, they were at the nuptials of Princess Diana’s niece, Celia McCorquodale.

The friendship of Harry and van Straubenzee goes back to their prep school, Ludgrove. Harry was a classmate of Charlie’s late brother, Henry (who tragically died in a car crash in 2002). William is a close friend of the groom’s brother, Thomas (who is a godfather to Princess Charlotte), and both princes are joint patrons of a memorial fund to help schools in Uganda set up in Henry’s name.

August marks the summer break for the royals – most of whom will visit the Queen at Balmoral, Scotland, for at least part of their vacation. But William will be seen again in public on August 8, when he travels to France to attend a ceremony marking the centenary commemoration of the Battle of Amiens, which played a significant role in the ending of WWI.

9 Key Quotes from Meghan Markle That Reveal Everything You Need to Know About the Duchess

Years before Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, she was an actress struggling to find self-confidence as she went after her Hollywood dreams. “I was in my early 20s, still figuring so much out, and trying to find my value in an industry that judges you on everything that you’re not versus everything that you are. Not thin enough, not pretty enough, not ethnic enough, while also being too thin, too ethnic, too pretty the very next day.”

Meghan Markle Wears Her Signature Messy Bun for Her Duchess Debut at Wimbledon

Meghan Markle attended her first Wimbledon match as the Duchess of Sussex on Saturday — and she rocked her signature messy bun for the occasion.

The royal arrived at the Wimbledon Championships alongside sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, for their first ever joint appearance to watch her good friend Serena Williams go for the title.

Meghan wore a blue-and-white striped shirt from Ralph Lauren paired with wide-leg cream pants by the American brand. She styled her hair in her go-to messy bun.

Meghan has worn the casual hairstyle on several royal outings over the past year, but since her wedding to Prince Harry in May, she’s been wearing more polished chignons and styling her hair down in loose waves. But on Saturday, her laid-back California style returned.

The duchess has a new hairdresser in her glam squad who is on the same page as her when it comes to her relaxed style. George Northwood, who styled her hair during her recent two-day tour in Ireland, loves an undone look.

“George is very likable, very cool and his signature look, which is slightly messy and a little undone is perfect for her,” a source who has worked with Northwood tells PEOPLE.

Meghan Markle Is Going on Her First Solo Outing with the Queen!

Queen Elizabeth is taking Meghan Markle on a road trip!

On June 14, the newly minted Duchess of Sussex will carry out her first official royal outing with the monarch. Meghan, who is currently thought to be on her honeymoon with Prince Harry, will accompany the Queen on a visit to Chester, which is about 165 miles northwest of London.

The Queen, 92, is taking her new granddaughter-in-law to officially unveil a new bridge in Widnes, Cheshire, and open the Storyhouse Theatre before the royal pair sit down for lunch at Chester’s Town Hall.

While Meghan toured the U.K. alongside Harry in the run up to their May 19 wedding, this will be the first time she has joined the Queen on her own.

The royal engagement, which includes several stops in the area throughout the day, is often called an “away day” for the royals. It proves that Meghan, who has made no secret of her desire to “hit the ground running” after the royal wedding, is ready to kick off her public engagements — both alongside members of the royal family and on her own.

PEOPLE’s new commemorative edition The Royal Wedding of Meghan & Harry, a keepsake album with expanded coverage, is on sale now.

In March, Meghan joined Harry and other senior members of the royal family, including the Queen, for a church service celebrating Commonwealth Day at Westminster Abbey. And in December, Meghan debuted the perfect curtsy when she greeted Queen Elizabeth during Christmas Day church services.

Meghan Markle Picks Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller for Her Wedding Dress

WINDSOR — Duty and discretion.
Meghan Markle, who became Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex earlier this morning, telegraphed some very powerful messages to the British public — and the world — about the sort of royal she wants to be.
Stepping out of a vintage Rolls-Royce in a minimal and unembellished Givenchy Haute Couture dress by the British designer Clare Waight Keller, a diamond tiara on loan from Queen Elizabeth, and a veil bearing symbols of the Commonwealth, this bride was out to prove that she’s all about simplicity, heritage, respecting tradition — and serving her public.

Not for her a glittering gown with a mile-long train and bejewelled veil. In Waight Keller she picked a talented, low-key British designer who is all about femininity, soft edges and beautiful fabrics. It was a fitting choice: After all, Markle may have married a son and brother of future monarchs, but Harry is now sixth in line to the throne – and will likely never get near it.
The couple also married at St. George’s Chapel on the Queen’s Windsor estate — not at Westminster Abbey or St. Paul’s Cathedral in London — and invited more than 2,000 members of

Meghan Markle Will Walk Down the Aisle Solo Before Meeting Prince Charles Halfway to the Altar

When Meghan Markle makes her historic walk down the aisle of St. George’s Chapel on Saturday, she’ll be starting it off solo, PEOPLE confirms.

After arriving by car with her mom, Doria Ragland, the bride-to-be will be greeted by her little bridal party members (including Prince George and Princess Charlotte!), who will lead the way down the aisle as Meghan takes her first steps to the altar by herself.

She will then be met by her future father-in-law, Prince Charles, who will be waiting for her at the halfway mark to escort her the rest of the way to the altar. The length of the aisle is about 110 steps, and more than half of those will be taken solo by Meghan.

It’s the event of the year! Be sure to keep up with all of PEOPLE’s royal wedding coverage and don’t forget to check out everything you need to know about Meghan Markle’s perfect style.

Charles is stepping into the role in place of Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle, who is unable to come to the royal wedding.

“It was Meghan’s wish and she is grateful for the Prince of Wales to be doing it,” a royal source tells PEOPLE.

Don’t miss out! Tune in to Meghan and Harry – a Fairy-Tale Wedding on Saturday, May 19, starting at 6 a.m. ET/ 3 a.m. PT on PeopleTV — now available on and on your favorite streaming device.

It was always Meghan’s “wish” to conduct the first portion of the walk by herself and then be met by her dad for the final steps to the altar, the royal source says. Now, Charles will greet her at the Quire (the last section of the church, where the immediate members of the royal family and close relatives will likely be seated) and walk her to the end of the aisle where Prince Harry will be standing.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Attend Invictus Event, Concert for Queen

OUT AND ABOUT: With less than a month to go before their wedding, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been dashing around London for official — and personal — engagements. On Saturday night, they celebrated Queen Elizabeth II’s 92nd birthday with a concert at Royal Albert Hall where Kylie Minogue, Sting, Tom Jones and Shaggy performed for the monarch.
Among the guests was Prince William, who is set to become a father for the third time when the Duchess of Cambridge gives birth later this month. The heavily-pregnant Kate Middleton wasn’t there so it was Markle who flew the fashion flag, donning a  midnight blue Stella McCartney cape dress, and carrying a Naeem Khan clutch.

Why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are Not Inviting Barack and Michelle Obama to Their Wedding

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are keeping politics out of their upcoming royal wedding.

“It has been decided that an official list of political leaders – both U.K. and international – is not required for Prince Harry and Ms. Markle’s wedding. Her Majesty’s Government was consulted on this decision, which was taken by The Royal Household,” a Kensington Palace spokesman said Tuesday.

Their decision to omit world leaders from their guest list means former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama will not be attending the May 19 ceremony at Windsor Castle, PEOPLE understands.

While Harry and Meghan have become close to the couple (these photos of BFFs Harry and Michelle are proof!), their guest list is being reserved for long-standing friends they have known for years.

Even though Barack and Michelle won’t be at their wedding, Harry and Meghan have plans to visit with the Obamas in the near future.

“Both the couples look forward to seeing each other soon,” adds a royal source.

Harry has become close to Michelle in recent years through their mutual work on behalf of veterans. Barack also supported Harry’s Invictus Games in Toronto last September.

The absence of dignitaries at the wedding also means President Donald Trump and senior British politicians will not be invited.

“Those in attendance will be people who one or both of the couple has a existing direct relationship with,” adds a royal source.

Whereas royal heir Prince William‘s wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011 had world leaders and dignitaries in attendance, a similar list of prominent guests is “not required” for Harry, who is currently fifth-in-line to the throne (and soon to be sixth with the birth of William and Kate’s third child later this month). If there are senior members of other royal families invited to the wedding, it will be because Harry has a close relationship with them.

Insiders also note that William and Kate wed in the grand Westminster Abbey in front of about 1,900 invitees, but Harry and Meghan’s venue at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle is much smaller and will have around 600 guests. “It will still be a royal wedding and an important occasion,” the royal source adds.

The palace also released the names of some of the lucky 1,200 members of the public who have been invited from around the U.K. to the grounds of Windsor Castle for an up-close view of their wedding day. The special guests were chosen from “young people who have shown strong leadership, and those who have served their communities,” the palace says in a statement.

Another 200 guests will come from charities linked with Meghan and Harry, including WellChild for seriously ill kids and the Invictus Games for sick and injured veterans and serving military members. There will also be 100 children from two local schools – the Royal School, situated in the Great Park of Windsor, and St. George’s School, below the castle.

Meghan Markle, Amal Clooney and Cindy Crawford’s Go-To Shoe Designer Dropped Prices 50 Percent

This is a Black Friday sale that isn’t going away: Sarah Flint, the footwear designer who counts Meghan Markle, Amal Clooney and Cindy Crawford as fans, is slashing prices by 50 percent — and keeping them there.

The designer cultivated her celebrity following with stylish (and comfortable!) Italian-made shoes that can transition from day to night. Prices ranged from $ 500 to $ 1,200 when she launched the brand, but thanks to a new direction — and an investment from Cindy Crawford herself — Flint is slashing prices to $ 200 to $ 650 and taking the experience away from retailers and directly to consumers on her site

“Cindy has been a fan of the brand since the beginning and has worn my shoes countless times,” Flint tells PeopleStyle. “As I got to know her, her support of the product and desire be an integral part of the brand really spoke to how much she believed in the product, and in our new business model. There’s no bigger honor than having a customer, and now investor, like Cindy Crawford believe in you.”

That means her most celeb-adored styles are now cheaper, such as the Lana flat, which is a favorite of Meghan Markle and Crawford. “It’s great for traveling,” Crawford tells PeopleStyle. “I love this shoe because it’s super comfortable yet I feel pulled together.” It’s now available for $ 365, originally it was $ 625.

Markle’s go-to flat, Flint’s Grear style, is also now slashed, available for $ 245, as opposed to its $ 525 original.

The Emma pump, which Amal Clooney and Meghan Markle own in multiple colors is also at a new price: $ 345, as opposed to its original, $ 595. “It’s a classic with the focus on subtle details that enhance the way a women looks in the shoe, without sacrificing fit and wearability,” Flint says of why it’s so popular.

Crawford predicts two more will rise in popularity soon, the Marina boot in olive, which is now $ 595, and the Andrea slide in gold, which is now $ 250. Perhaps, we even may see Crawford’s lookalike daughter Kaia in the latter soon enough. “I don’t want to ruin one of  her Christmas gift ideas, but she might just find a pair of the Andrea slides in gold under out tree,” says Crawford.

Tell us: Which of these Sarah Flint celeb-loved styles is your favorite?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Visited a Castle Today and the Photos Are a Fairy Tale Come True!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said a big “prynhawn da” (good afternoon in Welsh!) to Wales on Thursday, where cheering crowds welcomed them to the capital city of Cardiff.

The newly engaged couple stepped out at Cardiff Castle, a 2,000-year-old historic site that features Rapunzel-worthy towers and opulent interiors. The visit marked the latest milestone in the ongoing introduction of Meghan to the British public in the countdown to the royal wedding on May 19. Meghan honored the locale by pairing her black Stella McCartney coat with pants by Welsh brand Hiut Denim.

The couple was all smiles as they held hands while they greeted the crowds gathered outside the castle.

Harry, 33, and the L.A.-raised Meghan, 36, were greeted by well-wishers before being given a taste of modern Welsh life and traditional culture. Among those pressed against the barrier — and displaying her American flag — was Julie Hoefer, 31, from Dundas, Va.

“We don’t have a royal family in America, and the whole idea is amazing,” she said. “And now we have one who joined the family — finally. It is super exciting.”

She hopes the flag will catch the couple’s eye so that they say hello. “That’s the goal,” says Hoefer, who teaches in Kuwait and is in the U.K. on vacation. Next to them was Cynthia Osborne, a retired nurse from Cardiff. She wrapped a Welsh flag around her red Stetson-style hat and held a bunch of daffodils, the national flower of Wales.

“Meghan looks lovely, a breath of fresh air,” said Osborne. “She sparkles — and I’d like to see the ring to see if it sparkles.”

The castle gates were thrown open to the public at 9 a.m., enabling as many as people as possible to join the crowds. Meghan and Harry’s last outing was in Brixton on January 9, and they are expected to make several more before their Windsor Castle wedding.

Earlier, Cardiff’s city council leader Huw Thomas said they were delighted to “extend a warm Welsh welcome” to the couple, adding, “Their visit will aim to showcase some of the rich heritage and culture that we are very proud of here in Cardiff.”

After the excitement of the crowds, the couple watched performances from musicians and poets, met some famous local athletes and learn about the bodies that promote the Welsh language and cultural identity.

Their second outing in the capital was scheduled at Star Hub, a community and leisure center in the eastern suburb of Tremorfa where they were set to hear how the center helps young people excel through sports. It is a key area of Harry’s public work and the charity StreetGames, which the prince has regularly worked with, will show off some of their local programs.

Meghan Markle Joins Royal Family Christmas Celebrations

NEW TRADITIONS: Meghan Markle is spending her first Christmas with the British royals after she became engaged to Prince Harry in November.
Markle joined members of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Sandringham, the Queen’s country home in Norfolk.
The family attended the traditional Christmas Day church service on the estate and chatted with members of the public who also attended.
As per tradition on the evening before, the family gathered for afternoon tea, followed by a black-tie dinner and the opening of presents.
On Monday, Markle arrived on Prince Harry’s arm wearing by the Canadian label Sentaler. She paired it with a velvet dress, tan suede boots by Stuart Weitzman, a Chloe ‘Pixie’ bag and a hat in the same shade. She was joined by the Duchess, who wore a black fur hat and a plaid coat by Miu Miu.
British media reports also pointed out that Prince Harry is once again breaking with tradition, as in the past royal partners had to wait until they were married before joining the family’s Christmas celebrations.
Following the announcement of their engagement last month, the couple attended their first official

Betrothed Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Attend Royal Event

NOTTHINGHAM-BOUND: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended their first royal event together, in Nottingham on Friday, after the announcement was made earlier this week of their engagement.
They took in a tour of the World Aids Day charity fair hosted by the Terrence Higgins Trust and met with teachers and students from Nottingham Academy.
Prince Harry has been visiting Nottingham since 2013, since he was interested in learning about issues pertaining to youth violence. The following year he launched the Full Effect program aimed at giving opportunities to young people in the area.
Markle, who donned a long navy Mackage coat with Kurt Geiger boots, is said to now be serving charity duties as a full-time royal. It has been reported that she will stop work with the United Nations, among other organizations. She is to become the fourth patron of the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
Markle was previously involved with a number of humanitarian charities and served as global ambassador for World Vision Canada, a global relief organization that helps children, families and communities. 6 Royal Etiquette Lessons Meghan Markle Must Master if She Becomes a Princess

As the romance between Prince Harry and his American girlfriend Meghan Markle continues to go strong, fans — okay, us — are hoping for another royal wedding on the horizon. Although the Suits star has already proven she has natural charisma, compassion and grace, there are a few small yet important etiquette lessons that any future princess would likely have to master before kicking it with Queen Elizabeth II.

To find out how a non-royal can get princess-ready without the aid of a fairy godmother, we attended the Plaza Hotel Finishing Program with Beaumont Etiquette to enlist the help of Beaumont Etiquette founder and expert in all things proper, Myka Meier. In a duchess-worthy suite at the famed Plaza Hotel in New York City, Meier walked us through how-to of becoming

1. Sit Like a Lady

Meier instructs that the proper way to sit is with an “egg’s width of distance” between the back of the chair and your back. In addition, your chin should be parallel to the floor (and your back straight, of course) with your hands folded in your lap. Never cross your legs at the knee, instead opting to either keep your ankles and knees together or crossing your ankles if it feels more comfortable. Meier also suggests employing “the duchess slant” when sitting (i.e., slanting your knees to one side) as it can create a flattering silhouette and can be more comfortable for the long-legged among us.

The “duchess slant” is inspired by Princess Kate, who often sits with her legs slanted to the side. (Her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, was also a fan of the pose.)

2. Time for Tea

The Suits actress already hinted at “tea time” with her boyfriend, and as a royal she would be expected to take part in many afternoon teas — not to be confused with “high tea,” which, despite its lofty name is more of a casual meal. Meier explains that the royal family love their afternoon teas, which are filled with finger-foods like sandwiches, pastries and scones.

To properly hold your cup, Meier advises pinching the top of the handle with your thumb and index finger, with your middle finger supporting the bottom of the handle. She also explains that the handle of the cup should always be kept at 3 o’clock and you should try to take sip from the same spot to avoid getting lipstick stains around the rim. (This sipping-on-the-same-spot rule applies to whatever you’re drinking, not just tea.)

While you aren’t likely to use cutlery during tea (aside from the occasional butter knife), Americans typically hold their forks in the right hand, tines up, and only hold the knife to cut. However, royals eat the Continental way, holding their forks in the left hand, tines down, and the knife in the right. You also never put down your utensils while eating unless you need to take a drink or use the restroom, at which point you cross your silverware on your plate to let the wait staff know you aren’t finished eating.

Holding the silverware can be trickier than it looks. (Our princess stand-in and PEOPLE writer-reporter Char Adams said it was the most difficult lesson to master.) Both utensils should be held pinched between the thumb and middle finger with the index finger extended on the top of the utensil as support.

Once you’ve gotten a grip on your cutlery, there’s still more. Meier says that “ladies of leisure” will spear their food with their fork and keep the tines facing down while bringing the morsel up to their mouths. However, a royal wouldn’t spear her food and would instead balance her cut food on the top of her tines as she brings it up to her mouth. It’s tricky, which probably explains why only royals bother doing it. Just avoid ordering peas!

3. A Royal Greeting

One of the British royals’ biggest jobs is going on official engagements — and that means greeting, and charming, thousands of people each year. Luckily, the etiquette is simple: make direct eye contact, give a firm handshake (avoid more than two pumps) and smile.

RELATED VIDEO: Meghan Markle ‘Wants a Future with Harry’ and is ‘Head-Over-Heels,’ Says Pal

Kate rarely uses purses on her engagements, instead choosing a small clutch if she is carries anything at all. The clutch can also help keeping proper posture while walking and chatting, as it gives you a place to put your hands (both hands grasping the clutch with a slight space between your fingers). If you aren’t holding a clutch, Meier recommends clasping your hands together as if you are sitting.

As for greeting friends, Meier says that cheek-kissing is common among the well-heeled Brits, but there are rules for that as well. Don’t actually kiss the person’s cheek, don’t make an overly loud kissing noise or a dramatic MWAH and know your audience — most Europeans do two kisses but the Swiss typically do three.

4. Curtsy Queen

While Markle would likely be using the above greetings with most of the royal family, she would still be expected to curtsy in more formal situations. Meier says that the curtsy should be subtle — a ballerina curtsy this is not — but the deeper and longer you pause shows more respect and formality. To curtsy, Meier instructs placing one leg behind the other (whichever one is more comfortable for you) and bowing your head slightly while bending your knees.

It’s rare to see the royals curtsy to one another outside of extremely formal situations, and even then they usually only curtsy to the Queen. However, Markle would be expected to curtsy to the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William and Kate. She would also be expected to curtsy to “royal princesses” like Anne, Beatrice and Eugenie if Harry wasn’t with her. (Although she’s royal-by-birth, Zara Tindall does not have a princess title so Markle wouldn’t be required to curtsy to her.) She would also be expected to curtsy to any foreign royals who out-rank her.

5. Car Care

Gracefully exiting a car can sometime be difficult, especially if you are wearing a skirt and photographers are parked right outside the car door. Meier suggests that the best way to elegantly get out of a car is the “swivel and pop” — first you position yourself at the end of your seat and as close to the door as possible, then you place both hands behind yourself and use them to support yourself as you turn (with ankles and knees together!) to place your feet outside the car. The final move — the pop — is as you stand and exit the car, looking photo-ready.

If you have a handbag, Meier says that you should place it on the seat next to you before employing the “swivel and pop.” Then, after you stand , you gracefully reach back into the car (without turning around) to get your bag.

6. Step by Step

As for getting down stairs, Meier says that Harry would likely be aware of helping Markle walk down any stairs in her path, especially in a formal situation. But, even if she doesn’t have a prince to help her, the rules of descending are simple. Meier says you should keep your chin parallel, back straight and hand by your side. If you need to use the banister, Meier instructs that you should simply rest your hand on it (not grip) and keep your toes pointed toward the banister as you walk down.

Even if you aren’t planning on being a princess, Meier’s etiquette tips can help anyone looking to infuse a little royal grace into their daily life. But we’re still holding out hope for a royal wedding!

The First Photo Of Prince Harry With Meghan Markle Is Here, And It’s Adorable

You’ve seen the Instagram posts, spotted the friendship bracelets and read Prince Harry’s noble defense of his girlfriend.

Now, at last, you can see first photos of the prince and “Suits” actress Meghan Markle together in public for the first time.

The Sun snapped the couple braving the brisk British weather in beanies on Wednesday evening, as they headed for the play “The Curious Incident of the Dog at the Nighttime” at the Gielgud Theatre in London’s West End.

The 32-year-old prince and Markle, 35, appeared relaxed as they walked “hand in hand.” And they didn’t care much that someone was photographing them, according to the British tabloid.

The lovebirds even shopped for a Christmas tree together, The Sun reports.

Markle is reportedly staying with Harry at his two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace.

The actress flew from her home in Toronto to London on Sunday to see her prince charming. The two are also planning a getaway vacation.

They’ve reportedly been dating for about five months after meeting in May in Canada, where Harry was promoting the Invictus Games, the athletic competition he founded for injured military vets.

At first, they kept it relatively quiet, though both were spotted wearing the same blue-beaded bracelet. Markle posted a few shots of herself with the wrist bauble on Instagram.

And then there was this:

In November, Harry warned the press to stop harassing “his girlfriend,” who’s been stalked by paparazzi, citing safety concerns. The prince was “deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her,” according to a statement from Kensington Palace. The statement also called out the “outright sexism and racism of social media trolls.”

This is why Harry is our favorite prince.
