Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s Dualstar Entertainment Fires Back About Unpaid Interns Lawsuit

Mary-Kate’s and Ashley Olsen’s Dualstar Entertainment Group is the latest multimillion-dollar business to come under fire for allegedly using unpaid interns. But executives at the company, which the enterprising sisters built from the ground up, aren’t about to accept the claims of unpaid interns in a new class-action suit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court.
The plaintiff Shahista Lalani reportedly claimed to have punched the clock with 50-hour unpaid work weeks.A Dualstar spokeswoman, Annett Wolf, challenged the allegations altogether. Wolf said Tuesday, “As an initial matter, Dualstar is an organization that is committed to treating all individuals fairly and in accordance with all applicable laws. The allegations in the complaint filed against Dualstar are groundless, and Dualstar will vigorously defend itself against plaintiff’s claims in court, not before the media. Dualstar is confident that once the true facts of this case are revealed, the lawsuit will be dismissed in its entirety.”
Lalani declined to comment Tuesday, deferring a request to her attorney Brett Cohen at Leeds Brown Law. Cohen did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Lalani, a graduate of The New School’s Parsons School of Design, now has her own signature ready-to-wear label. The Row, the twins’ luxury apparel and accessories collection,

Don’t Forget About Elizabeth Olsen—She’s Just as Stylish as Big Sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley

Announcement: Your new style crush has arrived. As the little sister of fashion stars Mary-Kate and Ashley, Elizabeth Olsen has consistently proved that beyond being a seriously impressive actress, she knows her way around a red-carpet winner. Clearly, style runs in the family.

For this weekend’s launch of Miu Miu‘s first fragrance, the starlet chose a bibbed romper from the fashion house, accessorized by chunky silver platforms.

When Avengers: Age of Ultron premiered in Tokyo, Elizabeth went super-glam in a black Christian Dior gown. The raised hemline showed off her heels (also by Dior), and the simple scoop neck was accented by white gold and diamond jewelry from the house.

She showed some sisterly support at a springtime event in New York City, repping The Row with her tailored coat and skinny trousers.

The bold silhouette and embellished neckline of this Saint Laurent cape dress made the actress stand out in London.

When Elizabeth premiered the latest Avengers flick in LA, she walked the carpet in what looked like a basic t-shirt and maxi skirt. In reality, it’s a chic color-block dress from Galvan (that’s currently on sale for 50% off).

Why These Fashionable Siblings Might Be The Next Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

Fashion loves a sibling act.

Before the Middleton sisters earned their style cred and way before any Hadid girl ever walked the runway, style lovers were all about Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. From child stars to fashion phenoms, the Olsens broke so many barriers that it’s hard to keep track. Most notably however, they have become some of the industry’s most respected designers, on par with the likes of Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors (and they’ve got the CFDA Award to prove it!).

Now, another duo that’s been in the spotlight since infancy is primed to make some fashion noise: Jaden and Willow Smith.

The Smith kids have made it pretty clear that they’re style obsessed. Willow recently nabbed a plum role modeling Marc Jacobs’ fall 2015 campaign, while Jaden just gave an interview to GQ, explaining his strange choice to wear a superhero costume to Kim Kardashian’s wedding and his prom (to “heighten my experience” and address the feeling that he “needed to protect everyone there and needed to have the proper gear to do so”).

While Jaden’s talked about wearing clothes of his own make before, the two have never spoken about an actual fashion line. Even so, if the House of Smith designs pop up in the future, no one can pretend to be surprised. The two have too much in common with the Olsen twins for it to not work.

They’re not afraid of stepping outside the box. Think about it: did the world even know what whipping your hair back and forth meant before Willow popularized it? Likewise, MK&A made bag-lady chic a thing when they first moved to New York City.

When they can’t find what they want, they make it. The Row was first conceptualized as an answer to Ashley’s quest for the perfect t-shirt, and that need to make something for yourself is something Willow totally gets. She’s said she writes her own novels and then reads them.

They get the power of a sartorial moment. When Mary-Kate got engaged, there was no simple solitaire. The more boho twin opted for a serious statement piece from Cartier, bought vintage at Sotheby’s. For the Smith kids, there’s the whole superhero costume thing, worn most recently to his prom.

Yet they totally understand comfort. The Olsens’ signature style is made up a lot of loose blouses and long maxis, all comfortable enough looking for a nap. Jaden has included a lot of bike shorts in his recent outfits, while Willow has said she loves wearing “clothes that I can climb trees in.”

The Smith kids have created plenty of soundbites chatting between themselves (reference “because living”), and the twins have done it too. “Some of our memories are shared, We don’t know what actually happened to whom,” Mary-Kate has said. “One of us was stung by a bee, but we can’t remember who, because we both felt it.”

See? They’re practically quadruplets.

Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen Won’t Be In ‘Fuller House’

We didn’t expect Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to appear in the new “Full House” reboot, and it turns out the 28-year-old fashion designers will not reprise their shared role as Michelle Tanner, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of Fuller House, I know how much Full House has meant to them and they are still very much considered family,” executive producer Robert L. Boyett said in a statement. “It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers, and I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavors. I appreciate their support and good wishes towards Fuller House.”

The news comes weeks after John Stamos, who is both producing and slated to appear in the Netflix series, called “bullshit” on the sisters, after they told Women’s Wear Daily they weren’t in the loop regarding the new show. Stamos later tweeted that he and Mary-Kate has smoothed things out after having a “sweet talk,” but he apparently wasn’t able to sweet-talk the twins into appearing on the show.

In addition to Stamos, fans of the ABC original series can expect Andrea Barber, Jodie Sweetin, Candace Cameron Bure, and Dave Coulier to appear on the revival. which will follow Bure’s D.J. Tanner as a widow with three kids.

Earlier this month, Bure spoke about “Fuller House” on the “Today” show, saying that the Netflix series won’t be the same as the original. “It’s definitely a fresh take,” she said. “We’re not doing the old show, it’s not a reunion. It’s a spinoff show.”
