Idina Menzel Talks Newly Married Life to Aaron Lohr: ‘He’s My Guy’

Idina Menzel is loving married life.

The Broadway star opened up to PEOPLE about newlywed life with actor Aaron Lohr at the Disney/Pixar premiere of Coco in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.

“He’s my guy,” she said.

Menzel, 46, and Lohr, 41, tied the knot in September in an intimate backyard ceremony.

And while the actress said she’s loves being able to call Lohr her “husband,” the word family has also taken on a new meaning since their special day.

“Family, to me, means being able to be yourself, sit back on the couch and relax, and watch a movie with the people that know you better than anyone else in the world,” she said.

Menzel, who attended the premiere solo, said Lohr has developed a close bond with her eight-year-old son Walker.

“They’re very close,” she said. “They’re probably watching a film, or they run around play dodgeball with a sock, they make a ball out of socks and they hit each other.”

Menzel voices Frozen‘s Elsa in the Disney short Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, which will screen ahead of Coco.

Coco hits theaters Nov. 22.

PEOPLE Explains: Who Is Tatiana Kennedy Schlossberg? All About JFK and Jackie’s Newly Married Granddaughter

Tatiana Kennedy Schlossberg — the younger daughter of Caroline Kennedy and Ed Schlossberg — said her “I do’s” on Saturday, marrying longtime boyfriend George Moran in a private ceremony.

The 27-year-old brunette’s nuptials is the latest in the long line of legendary Kennedy family weddings, and comes nearly 64 years to the day that her grandparents — former president John F. Kennedy and former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis — walked down the aisle.

Here are 5 things to know about Tatiana:

1. Like her siblings, she grew up out of the public eye

One might think that growing up in one of the nation’s most famous families would expose Tatiana to an onslaught of media attention at an early age. But like her older sister, Rose Kennedy Schlossberg, 29, and her younger brother, John “Jack” Kennedy Schlossberg, 24, Tatiana had a relatively quiet childhood outside of the limelight.

Raised in New York City’s Upper East Side, she was largely left alone by the photographers that followed her uncle John F. Kennedy Jr. from the day he was born — allowing Tatiana to focus on her family life and academics.

Perhaps that explains why the family of five are all so close, often goofing off together as seen in photos posted to Jack’s Instagram.

2. She had a great education

Being a child in the Big Apple gave Tatiana access to two of the city’s most elite private schools: the all-girls Brearley School, which she attended with sister Rose, and The Trinity School, from which she graduated in 2008.

After that, Tatiana attended Yale University (brother Jack followed her there, while Rose opted for Harvard), graduating in 2012 with a B.A. in History. Grad school followed, with Tatiana getting a master’s degree in history from Oxford University in 2014.

3. She’s a former environmental reporter for The New York Times

Up until July, Schlossberg worked as a journalist covering climate change and the environment for The New York Times‘ Science section.

The writer began her tenure at The Times as an intern in 2014, later writing the popular morning column ‘New York Today,’ and covered New York City and beyond for the Metro section.

Prior to The Times, Schlossberg had gigs at the Yale Herald (where she mostly wrote first-person arts and entertainment stories, and later served as the paper’s editor-in-chief) and New Jersey’s Bergen Record (where she covered crime).

4. She jumps in for a good cause

The Kennedy family has a long tradition of charity work, and Schlossberg is no different.

In Sept. 2013, she joined her mother and roughly 160 others in a three-mile swim across the Hudson River from Nyack to Sleepy Hollow in an effort to raise funds for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, New York’s Daily News reported at the time.

In 2010, she was also by her mother’s side while attending the 70th anniversary gala of the American Ballet Theatre, Women’s Wear Daily reported.

5. She can cook, and is close with her childhood caretaker

Marta Sgubin cooked and cared for three generations of the Kennedy family, from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to Tatiana and her siblings. Although she’s retired now, Tatiana still has a close relationship with the Italian-born woman — who considers Tatiana like a granddaughter.

“The things that Marta has done…” Tatiana said in a video feature on Sgubin in 2013. “Marta is a living saint. Very honest. Very funny. She loves animals, she’s Italian but she can communicate with anyone, she’s a very good cook. That’s a lot of good things! ”

The two spent time in the clip cooking together. “I worked for them but I loved them,” Sgubin says of Tatiana and her family. “Now my role involves spending time with them when I can. I like when I see them everyday.”

Newly Single Leonardo DiCaprio Surrounded By A Bevy Of Models In Cannes

Looks like Leonardo DiCaprio is doing just fine after that breakup.

The newly single actor, who split with his model girlfriend Nina Agdal earlier this month, was spotted in Cannes on Thursday at the amfAR Gala, surrounded by a bevy of beautiful women including Bella Hadid and Rita Ora. DiCaprio is known for his penchant for models, having previously dated Gisele Bundchen, Bar Refaeli, Erin Heatherton, Toni Garrn and Kelly Rohrbach, so these photos are, shall we say, priceless.

DiCaprio and Agdal dated for over a year before their split was announced last week. Shortly after the reveal, the actor was spotted with friend and fellow bachelor Tobey Maguire at LA hotspots The Peppermint Club and Avenue LA. Maguire was also in attendance at the amfAR event in France’s Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. He was photographed onstage with Chris Tucker, Uma Thurman, Will Smith and Jessica Chastain during the soiree.

We can imagine Tobey sending Leo a text about letting loose in Cannes, to which Leo responds: You mean tonight, Boo Boo? Club-wise?

Head over to the Daily Mail to see more photos of DiCaprio in his element.

People Want To Move To The Newly Found Planets To Escape Donald Trump

NASA scientists caused a stir when they announced the discovery of seven previously unknown Earth-sized planets on Wednesday.

And with the TRAPPIST-1 solar system a mere 39 light years away, it didn’t take long for hundreds of Twitter users to declare they’d be moving there to escape Donald Trump’s presidency:

Some tweeters took a different approach by suggesting that Trump could himself be sent there, alone, as a test:

Others used the news to throw shade on Trump’s controversial immigration policies, including his proposed U.S.-Mexico border wall and imminently rewritten travel ban:

Some social media users just imagined Trump’s reaction to the discovery:

Plenty of others, meanwhile, just used it to mock the intelligence of Trump and the members of his administration:

5 Things You Should Never Say To A Newly Engaged Friend

By Kelly Mallory for KnowMore.tv’s GalTime

Whether you’re single, dating, or married, when your friend shares the news about her engagement, it should be a reason to celebrate, not criticize.

Despite the excitement for your newly-engaged friend, sometimes things might slip out of your mouth that may come from a place of jealousy that you wish you could take back. To help you avoid any awkward and potentially hurtful conversations with your friend, we talked to etiquette expert Lizzie Post, co-author of Emily Post’s Wedding Etiquette 6th edition, about the top five things you should never say.

1. “That isn’t the ring you wanted!”

Many women have a “dream” engagement ring, which usually details a certain shape, size and cut. If her S.O. picked out the ring, he must have put time and thought into the ring, along with a hefty paycheck.

“It might not be what she was expecting or what you talked about, but it’s still a sentimental and special piece of jewelry, so you need to be respectful of that,” Post says. Now’s the time to focus on the fact that she got engaged, not the fact that the ring isn’t what she told you she wanted.”

2. “He should have said/done [blank] when he proposed.”

A proposal memory will stay with someone for a lifetime, and it can never be repeated. “Clearly your friend is happy about it, so it’s inappropriate to judge or criticize an experience that’s one of the most important ones in her life,” Post explains.

Instead of correcting the way her S.O. proposed, or what he said during the “Will you marry me?” speech, it’s important to see the inherent romantic quality in the proposal and engagement. Holding expectations for proposals and engagements hurts both your friend and the excitement of the engagement.

3. “It’s about time!”

The issue with this phrase is insinuating that your friend is late to the party. “It’s making her feel like she should have done it a long time ago and it’s not special because they’ve been together for so long,” Post explains. Each relationship follows its own timeline, and unless your engaged friend asks for your opinion, you shouldn’t comment on the stage of the relationship.

The same etiquette holds true even if your friend gets engaged after a month of knowing her partner. While it may seem somewhat rash, an engagement isn’t the right time to criticize the development of a relationship.

4. “I’m so single.”

It can be difficult to have your friend’s relationship grow while you’re still without a boyfriend. But a friend’s engagement doesn’t call for a pity party.

“It’s not about you right now,” Post says emphatically. “It can be about you later.” Don’t say something like, ‘I totally thought I would get engaged first; I’m so happy for you, but sad for me.’” Your friend who’s donning the new bling deserves the spotlight instead of shifting the focus to you. Save the single rant for your other single friends.

5. “Are you sure you want to do this?”

Saying “yes” to a S.O.’s proposal is an important life decision that already requires a lot of discernment. Placing doubt in your friend’s mind by saying things like ,“Are you sure about this?” or “You sure you don’t want to reconsider?” disregards her opinion.

“Now is not the time to be questioning your friend’s motives or decisions,” Post says. “If you’re truly confused or concerned about the engagement, you can talk about it at a different time, but tread carefully.” Being a friend includes trusting your friend’s judgment and accepting her decision.
