The Warriors will enter the 2019-20 NBA season in unfamiliar territory. For one, they won't enter the season as title favorites for the first time since lifting the Larry O'Brien Trophy in 2015 after significant roster turnover headlined by Kevin Durant's departure in free agency. "I'm not a betting man, but if I were, I'd be all over this bet," Goldsberry wrote in a Friday column, referring to the Warriors opening the season as +1,400 championship favorites according to Caesar's Palace. "Why?

Moore From L.A.: Is Fashion the Next Big Oil?

This show season, for the first time, I was ashamed to work in fashion because fashion is becoming a dirty word. And the revolution is just beginning.
Last week, Extinction Rebellion, the activist group that has shut bridges and poured buckets of fake blood outside Downing Street, parked a giant pink boat in London’s Oxford Circus blocking the flow of commerce in one of most heavily trafficked shopping areas in the world. At the same time, members were protesting Shell Oil and fracking, they were staging a guerrilla-style runway show to highlight the fashion industry’s negative impact on the environment. That’s sobering.

Environmental campaign group Extinction Rebellion held a fashion show in London’s Oxford Circus.

I first became aware of Extinction Rebellion during London Fashion Week. I was crossing the Thames in a ride share (at least I had that going for me) when we were stopped in traffic by the group. Its members had been protesting outside runway shows throughout the day, starting with Victoria Beckham and ending with Burberry. Escorted by police, they carried signs that read “Climate Emergency” and “This is Not a Drill.” My Uber driver rolled down his window to take a pink flyer:

Next Step Is Loungewear for Ban.do

CREATURE OF COMFORT: Ban.do, the company that gained steam for its day planners and other giftable items bearing phrases such as “I Am Very Busy,” is continuing its growth spurt. Now, with loungewear.
The company on Monday launches the new category in its online shop, along with retailers such as Nordstrom and boutiques. The collection, branded the Ban.do Leisure Club, totals eight stockkeeping units. It’s four pajama styles in two different prints ranging from $ 48 to $ 68, the highest-priced item being a sleep dress. The prints include a pink-and-blue stripe pattern and a daisy print, with details such as Peter Pan collars and contrast piping.
The expansion into lounge continues to grow the business from when Ban.do first stepped into apparel in 2015, which initially transferred its prints and sayings to simple blanks. The offering matured for spring/summer 2017 when the company began dabbling in more basics.
“How does a brand known for giftable products make a mark in the apparel world without making it feel disjointed?” merchandising director Ruthann Clawson said of the consideration the company makes when thinking about the apparel.
The answer, as it related to loungewear, came when founder Jen Gotch wore pajama pants styled with other Ban.do apparel to

EXCLUSIVE: Christopher Raeburn Gets Ready for the Next 10 Years

LONDON — Ten years after generating buzz with a first collection of eight garments made from military parachute fabric and big ambitions around recycling, Christopher Raeburn is gaining even greater recognition in an industry that is waking up at last to environmental sustainability and responsible design.
As Timberland’s global creative director, the London-based designer sees an opportunity to give his sustainability mission a broader, more global platform, while at his own label, Raeburn has brought on board his brother and fellow designer, Graeme Raeburn, as performance director, a new role.
The brothers are now aiming to push the boundaries of design, material innovation and waste reduction further and to redefine what success means along the way.
“For us, success is not about Raeburn products being in every store or on every street corner, quite the opposite. We want to look at growth in a much more modern way than just incremental numbers,” Raeburn said from his East London studio as he was preparing his fall 2019 show, set for Jan. 6 during London Fashion Week Men’s.
“During our early stages, people would look at our business plans and tell me that I wasn’t ambitious enough. I think I always was, but it’s always been about

What to Watch: Up Next for Fur Industry, Furriers

Last year was a momentous one for designer labels vowing to go fur-free. Michael Kors, Gucci, Burberry and Versace are among the ones that did so. Whether the trend continues into 2019 is a matter up for debate — as is the entire “fur” or “no fur” issue.
Last month, Chanel joined the antifur brigade — although the brand’s use of fur has always been minimal — and also pledged to stop using exotic skins. Before its pre-fall Métiers d’Art show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Chanel said it would “no longer use exotic skins in our future creations.”
The exotic skins in question include crocodile, lizard, snake and stingray. Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel fashion and president of Chanel SAS, said, “The future of high-end products will come from the know-how of what our atelier is able to do.”
Michael Kors Inc. — now called Capri Holdings — was one of the leading brands that agreed to go fur-free in 2017 along with Jimmy Choo, which Kors also owns. Kors had been targeted by animal rights activists over the years (most noticeably during a Q&A with the designer in June at the Metropolitan Museum). What’s Next for Calvin Klein Following Raf Simons Split?

The much ballyhooed Calvin Klein-Raf Simons marriage has ended in divorce — and now observers wonder what’s next for the iconic American fashion brand, and whether it can flourish without the “halo” of a designer collection.
As reported, the tie-up between Klein and Simons came to an abrupt — but not unexpected — end Friday night when Calvin Klein Inc. sent out a terse press release at 6:17 p.m., right before the Christmas holiday weekend, stating the company and Simons, who was chief creative officer, had “amicably decided to part ways.” The statement said that Klein has decided on a new brand direction which differs from Simons’ creative vision — but provided no details on what that new direction is.
Calvin Klein will not be having a fashion show during New York Fashion Week in February (it had been scheduled for Feb. 12 at 8 p.m.), and the company will now have to figure out how to move forward after the pricey, multimillion dollar experiment with Simons went bust after a mere 28 months, and eight months before the end of a three-year deal with the Belgian designer.

Her character’s wedding dress from the Netflix drama will be among the 40 ensembles spotlighted in “Costuming the Crown.” The lead actress ended her two-season run by winning the Best Actress award at this year’s Emmys. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Next Royal Date Is Right Where They Belong — Find Out Why!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are about to come face-to-face with their royal namesake!

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to make their first joint visit to Sussex (about 50 miles south of London) on October 3, where they will see the historic Sussex Declaration, open a Tech Park and visit with locals.

Queen Elizabeth gave the couple their brand new royal titles — the Duke and Duchess of Sussex — on the morning of their royal wedding on May 19. Bestowing titles to members of the royal family on their wedding day is a longtime tradition. When Prince William and Kate Middleton got married, they became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Just like most royal dukedoms, the title Duke of Sussex carries quite a bit of history. Though it first appeared as early as the 800s, it’s traceable origins start with Prince Augustus Frederick, son of King George III (who was the British monarch during the American Revolution).

Meghan and Harry’s first port of call in the southern English region will be a blending of both their backgrounds. The royal couple will be shown a rare Sussex copy of the American Declaration of Independence, which is kept in Edes House, in the heart of Chichester, West Sussex.

Can’t get enough of PEOPLE’s Royals coverage? Sign up for our newsletter to get the latest updates on Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and more!

The Sussex Declaration is one of only two contemporary handwritten ceremonial manuscript copies (the other is the signed copy housed in the National Archives in Washington, D.C.), and it comes only weeks after Harry and Meghan’s trip to see Hamilton, which captures some of the story of the Revolutionary era.

The next stop is along the coast at Bognor Regis, where Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, will officially open the University of Chichester’s Engineering and Digital Technology Park, which partners with local industry to offer students practical experiences in the sectors.

They are then scheduled to leave the county of West Sussex and travel along the coast to East Sussex to see the seaside city of Brighton and Hove. They start at the Royal Pavilion, which was built in the mid-1780s and was used by George IV as something of a pleasure palace. The grand structure has a flamboyant style, with expense spared on its interior decorations, matching its royal patron’s tastes for fashion and the arts. His regular visits to Brighton helped put the seaside town on the map and it grew in importance after that.

The couple will then walk to Survivors’ Network, a charity that supports survivors of sexual violence and abuse in Sussex to talk with to service users, volunteers and staff.

The royal couple’s final engagement of the day will be a visit to JOFF Youth Centre in Peacehaven. The community hub offers activities, from a chill out area to a music practice room and Harry and Meghan will meet young people to hear their plans and priorities around mental health and emotional wellbeing.

The visit is part of Takeover Challenge Day, which is a national initiative that encourages organizations to put young people into real life decision-making positions.

Public School’s Next Act

Public School is like a cat with nine lives.
The pioneering streetwear brand, which launched in 2008, has been in and out of the limelight over the past decade as it navigated the vagaries of the fashion industry.
And when it opens the doors to its pop-up with Nike today, it will mark the latest reinvention strategy for the brand.
Last year, Public School collaborated with Nike on a sneaker centered around the Air Force 1. Although the initial design was created for the shoe’s 35th anniversary, it was never released to the public. That will change today when the sneaker will be front and center — along with complimentary apparel — at PSNY’s pop-up space at 3 Howard Street in Manhattan. The shoe will be released globally on Wednesday.
This is the first time Public School has worked with the core Nike collection, although the designers collaborated on the company’s Jordan brand since 2014.
To celebrate the new partnership, the designers and Nike will host a Streetball Classic event on a court on East Houston Street before the store opens to the public tonight.

Ewert Departure Seen as His Decision, but Firm Ready for Next Chapter

It was Doug Ewert’s choice to leave Tailored Brands, but his departure as chief executive officer is also seen as an opportunity to get some fresh blood into the company.
That was the consensus of the men’s wear community on Wednesday as they continued to digest the surprise news late Tuesday that the longtime leader of the Fremont, Calif.-based company would be exiting at the end of September. Ewert, 54, said after the market closed on Tuesday that he would be retiring after a 23-year career with the men’s wear retailer.
Wall Street was apparently not rattled by the news since the company’s stock rose 4 percent Wednesday to close at $ 23.39.
On Wednesday, Ewert told WWD he would be open to providing more details about his decision and future plans after the company’s earnings are released on Sept. 12.
Coincidentally, the news of Ewert’s impending departure came at the same time Bruce Thorn, president and chief operating officer, said he too would be leaving Tailored Brands. Thorn, 51, has been named president and ceo of Big Lots Inc. He will assume that role at the end of September.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Just Took the Next Step by Getting a New Dog

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a new addition: a pup to share their lives, PEOPLE has confirmed.

The couple got the dog — believed to be a Labrador — in early summer, and the pooch has been joining them at their country getaway in the Cotswolds area and Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace in London, a source says.

Harry and Meghan’s new best friend will be a welcome addition to their rural walks. Dog lover Meghan, 37, had to leave one of her pets, Bogart, behind when she arrived in London from Toronto last November, when the couple got engaged. The rescue dog, a companion for Meghan’s Beagle Guy, was given to friends.

Guy, meanwhile, has been embedded into Meghan’s new royal life, and was at her feet as she sat for her hair and makeup on her wedding morning.

Harry and Meghan’s move mirrors that of his brother Prince William and Kate Middleton, who got Cocker Spaniel Lupo shortly after their wedding, settling him into life with them in Anglesey, North Wales.

First Look! Linda Hamilton Is Back in Action at 61 in Next Terminator Movie

Linda Hamilton — it’s good to have you back!

The actress, 61, is set to make a major comeback next year in her third film in the Terminator franchise. (The sequel is currently untitled.)

In a first look released by Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions, Hamilton means business as Sarah Connor, a woman hellbent on defending Earth from evil robots. She’s pictured armed with a rifle, a bulletproof vest and lots of ammunition.

Unlike the other two women in the photo — franchise newcomers Natalie Reyes as Dani Ramos and Mackenzie Davis as Grace — Hamilton sports her character’s signature aviator sunglasses. Talk about bada—.

The movie, which is currently in production, is billed as a sequel to James Cameron’s first two Terminator films: The Terminator (1984) and Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991). Three other films have since followed Cameron’s sequel, with the last in the franchise being Terminator: Genisys (2015), which starred Emilia Clarke and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Schwarzenegger, 71, is also starring in the upcoming movie, marking a reunion for Hamilton and the actor.

It opens November 22, 2019.

Is a Proxy Fight Next for Randa?

AT WHAT COST:  Perry Ellis International’s Special Committee on Wednesday reiterated its intention to proceed with George Feldenkreis’ $ 437 million offer to take the company private, a transaction that was inked on June 16. That dashed the wishes of Randa Accessories, which had hoped for a second, third and fourth chance to at least engage in talks over its nonbinding $ 444 million offer.
Randa has maintained that it intends to continue pursuing a purchase of Perry Ellis, but it doesn’t have many options left. According to the Special Committee on Wednesday, regulatory authorities already granted early termination of the 30-day waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, clearing the way for the filing of the preliminary proxy last week. All that’s left is determining the date for the special shareholders’ meeting so investors can vote yay or nay on the planned deal.
Randa could elect to do a proxy fight, but at what cost? A banker not connected to the Perry Ellis-Randa battle — he’s requested anonymity because of his work with corporate clients in connection with proxy fights from activist investors — said, “A proxy fight is very expensive, and I’m not sure what it achieves here.
