Reports: Spurs want Celtics all-in for Kawhi Leonard trade talks, Boston slow playing it

The Spurs have come to grips with the fact they are going to have to trade Kawhi Leonard. Who the Spurs want to get deeply involved with is the Boston Celtics. Boston has the combination of good young players (Jaylen Brown, for example) and picks (Boston could have four first rounders in 2019) that interests the Spurs more than Brandon Ingram an anything the Lakers can push into the pot.

Patients Speak Out After Fertility Clinic Reports Freezer Malfunction: ‘There Go My Babies’

Hundreds of families are grappling with the devastating news that a freezer malfunction at an Ohio fertility clinic may have left eggs and embryos stored in one of two large freezers no longer viable for use.

On Thursday, officials with University Hospitals Fertility Clinic in Cleveland announced that an “unexpected temperature fluctuation” within the storage bank impacted several embryos. More than 2,000 frozen eggs and embryos were compromised, according to CNN.

“We have initiated an investigation to identify the cause of this event,” the clinic said in a statement. “We are bringing in independent experts to ensure we understand all aspects of this occurrence and do everything possible to address the situation.

“Right now, our patients come first. We are incredibly sorry this happened. We are committed to getting answers and working with patients individually to address their concerns.”

For Christina Ellis, who had two embryos saved at the clinic, the incident means she may never be able to have another child. She has a 2-year-old daughter, Laceygale, from in vitro fertilization (IVF).

“It’s just a horrible feeling. In my heart, I’m like, ‘Those were my children. Those were babies-to-be.’ And I had such a hard time with the procedure in the first place because I was 36,” the grieving mom of one tells PEOPLE. “We thought,’ going to have her siblings, and that was our whole goal and now that’s just been crushed.”

She adds: “I just never thought this would happen. In a million years, I never thought that this would happen.”

Ellis, 39, suffered an ectopic pregnancy, which “destroyed” her fallopian tubes and left her unable to conceive. So, in 2014, she created four embryos and used one to have Laceygale. Another was unsuccessful and the final two have remained at the clinic for years.

Ellis says she hoped to have another embryo implanted later this year, after her 40th birthday. But now, she says, that likely won’t happen.

“I didn’t know what to think. I didn’t know what to say,” she recalls of the moment she got the news in a phone call on Friday. “I just broke down crying. I was still in denial … my first thought was, ‘There go my babies. I’m not going to be able to have kids anymore.”

Ellis says that the clinic offered to pay for both storage fees and perform the embryo creation procedure again free of charge. However, Ellis says that at nearly 40 years old, “I don’t know if I can do this again.”

Many families received what Ellis called a “general letter” in the mail, notifying them of the malfunction. About a week later, staff members began speaking with families directly to deliver the heartbreaking news.

Danelle Yerkey, another patient who had her embryos stored in the facility, calls the situation a “nightmare.”

“This is a disaster,” she tells PEOPLE. “So many are devastated … people need to know the severity of this nightmare.”

Rachael Hyster, who underwent IVF and gave birth to “two beautiful daughters,” says she and the other women are crushed and desperate for answers.

“My husband and I are heartbroken as they have taken away our chance to add to our family if we wanted to,” she tells PEOPLE. “I feel my loss is minimal to some of the families, this was their only hope to have a biological child of their own.”

At least two proposed class action lawsuits have been filed against the Cleveland clinic, Cleveland.com reports.

Around the same time as the Ohio incident, the Pacific Fertility Center in San Francisco also experienced a storage tank malfunction, according to CNN. Officials said that a piece of equipment in the storage unit “lost liquid nitrogen for a brief period of time” on March 4.

Neither the University Hospitals Fertility Clinic nor the Pacific Fertility Center immediately responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Lanvin Voices ‘Astonishment’ at Press Reports

Trying to quell the swell of press reports swirling about the future of Lanvin, the house on Friday afternoon released a statement from “general management” reserving the right to “act in defense of its interests,” while acknowledging that it is “going through a difficult time but has no debts.”
“The Lanvin House reports its astonishment about the relentlessness of some of the media against her, and this for months,” it said. “Today, articles have been published in which one reports, all too often, on the basis of noises and not of certain facts. This deeply hurts the company as well as its employees.
“The House…has always paid its employees and suppliers, and is working actively and optimistically on its future,” it said.
One story on Friday by Reuters quoted Lanvin’s managing director Nicolas Druz saying alternative “sustained financial and industrial solutions that do not involve capital increases will be found by the end of March.”
A Lanvin spokeswoman could not immediately be reached for comment.
WWD reported earlier this week that there has not yet been any cash injection that was pledged by Lanvin’s owner, Taiwanese media magnate Shaw-Lan Wang. Last month, the executive said she would inject funds into the beleaguered company to “support

Josh Duggar Has The Audacity To Claim Molestation Reports Caused ‘Emotional Injury’

The Duggar sisters’ breach-of-privacy suit has taken an even stranger turn now that Josh Duggar ― who admitted to molesting some of his sisters as a teen ― is seeking to join those same siblings in legal action over his molestation scandal.

Last month, Jill, Jessa, Jinger and Joy Duggar filed a federal lawsuit seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages against In Touch magazine and Arkansas law enforcement over police documents released to the tabloid through a Freedom of Information Act request in 2015.

On Friday, Josh filed a motion asking to join the case, claiming that he has “suffered severe emotional distress, embarrassment, humiliation and economic harm both to his personal and professional reputations” as result of In Touch’s bombshell report that alleged he molested underage girls.

In their original lawsuit, the four Duggar sisters claim they were “revictimized” by the release of the documents that contained “cosmetic redactions,” which allowed them to be identified as their brother’s victims.

Their lawsuit hinges on the assertion that, according to Arkansas law, information collected involving minors is not subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act. The sisters claim that when they spoke to investigators as minors in 2006, they were told their statements would not be made public. Josh makes the same claims in his motion to intervene and cites the same law.

The City of Springdale, which the sisters are also suing, previously dismissed the allegations in the lawsuit as “without merit” and “false” in a statement to the press. In Touch has yet to respond to the lawsuit, but it’s important to recognize that Josh’s name was, in fact, redacted from the police report ― as required by law. In Touch even noted in the story

“(Note: Josh’s name is redacted from the police report but In Touch has confirmed the passages that refer to him.)”

Similarly, the police report appears to comply with state law by redacting the names of Josh’s victims. In Touch did not identify the victims by name in its reports, and it was Jessa and Jill who identified themselves as two of Josh’s five underage victims when they participated in an interview with Megyn Kelly on “The Kelly File.” With the filing of their lawsuit, Jinger and Joy confirmed they were victims, as well. The identity of the fifth victim remains unknown.

The sisters claim that by not redacting their parents’ names, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, In Touch clearly identified the sisters as victims. However, the Duggar parents’ names did not need to be redacted as they were not minors.

In his motion to join the suit, Josh also states that while his sisters have been “forced to confront traumatic experiences” and had the “most private and painful aspects of their lived [sic] exposed,” they received “sympathy worldwide.”

But, Josh goes on to say that there’s just no sympathy for him ― who’s youngest victim was just 5 years old:

Not so with Movant, however, for which the confidential, highly sensitive, intensely personal and humiliating nature of the information contained in the released reports has subjected him to exposure only in an intensely negative light for actions he engaged in as an indiscrete youth and that will continue to haunt him and cause him financial and emotional injury for the rest of his life.

The fall out from In Touch’s May 2015 report was swift. Josh admitted to molesting underage girls ― who were later confirmed to be his sisters. He subsequently resigned from his job as executive director of Tony Perkins’ conservative and anti-gay group, Family Research Council Action, and TLC canceled “19 Kids and Counting.” (Josh was back in the headlines over a cheating scandal involving an Ashley Madison account and claims of sex addiction later on.)

The idea that an admitted child molester could complain about lack of sympathy is inherently ridiculous and a closer look at Josh’s motion reveals his claims to be completely contradictory.

In one breath, without actually mentioning the assaults, he refers to his abuse of his sisters as “traumatic experiences” and the “most private and painful aspects” of their lives. He then turns around and attempts to brush off repeated acts of sexual abuse as “actions he engaged in as an indiscrete youth.” In fact, the words “molestation” and “sexual assault” do not appear in Josh’s motion at all. There is not even a hint of personal responsibility for his actions in the entire motion.

Meanwhile, his sisters Jessa and Jill previously said they had “forgiven” Josh, but the language in their lawsuit says otherwise. In the suit, the sisters state they were “sexually assaulted on several occasions by [their] brother, Josh Duggar.” The words “sexual abuse” and “sexual assault” and “molestation” are free flowing throughout the suit. It’s a far cry from how they previously characterized the incidents as “mild, inappropriate touching” when they were interviewed by Kelly.

Via the police report: [Jim Bob Duggar] said that [Josh] had told him that [he] had been touching [redacted] on the breast and vaginal areas while [they] were sleeping.” Later in the report [Jim Bob] said there was another incident in March 2003. [Jim Bob] said that [Josh] was reading to [redacted] and [she] was sitting on [his] lap, [Josh] had touched [redacted’s] breasts and vaginal area…sometime during this timeframe [Josh] had been standing in the laundry room and [Josh] had put [his] hand under [redacted’s] dress.”

Josh is not represented by the same attorneys as his four sisters and it is unclear how they feel about him seeking to join the suit. HuffPost has reached out to lawyers for the Duggar sisters and will update this post accordingly.

Las Vegas’ Bellagio Put on Lockdown After Allegedly Armed Robbers Burglarize Rolex Store: Reports

Las Vegas police have taken one suspect in to custody and are on the search for more after armed robbers wearing pig masks burglarized a high-end retail store at the Bellagio Resort & Casino early Saturday morning, according to multiple outlets.

Police were called to the resort around 12:50 a.m., Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Michael Rodriguez said — in response to false 911 reports of an active shooter, the Las Vegas Review Journal reported.

Upon investigation, Rodriguez said there was only one shot fired — isolated to inside the store, which was closed at the time, the Las Vegas Review Journal reported. No one was injured.

“Currently investigating burglary at @bellagio,” Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department tweeted at 2:13 a.m. “Initial reports indicated there was an ‘active shooter’ which was false. NO injuries.”

A Las Vegas police spokesman confirming that the store in question was a Rolex store, located in the basement of the high-end casino, the New York Daily News reported. A preliminary investigation suggested three robbers used a sledgehammer to break in to the property, the spokesman said.

Eyewitnesses shared photos of the scene on Twitter, including one woman named Kira who showed one alleged assailant wearing all black clothing and a pig mask and holding a sledge hammer standing outside the store. (Police did not confirm reports that the men were wearing pig masks.)

She also reportedly saw another in a similar outfit, holding a handgun.

As of 2:15 a.m., one person had been taken into custody, the Las Vegas Review Journal reported.

The Bellagio was on lockdown after the incident for about 30 minutes, ABC News reported, with certain areas of the hotel closed off to patrons.

Many fled to the streets, according to social media reports.

Lt. Hank told the outlet that they had detained a few other individuals but were continuing to search for suspects.

Las Vegas police did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Virginia AG Mark Herring To Fight Same-Sex Marriage Ban, Reports Suggest

Virginia’s new attorney general Mark Herring is making a major reversal on his state’s same-sex marriage stance, according to The Washington Post and NPR.

Herring will announce on Thursday that he finds Virginia’s same-sex marriage ban to be unconstitutional, The Washington Post reported.

The move would be going against the position of Herring’s predecessor Ken Cuccinelli (R), who once stated, “I cannot support something that I believe brings nothing but self-destruction, not only physically but of their soul.”

As the Post points out, Herring, a Democrat, will also be reversing his own stance from eight years ago, when he voted against same-sex marriage.

“As attorney general, I cannot and will not defend laws that violate Virginians’ rights,” Herring told “Morning Edition.”

After a review of a case challenging the state’s same-sex marriage ban, Herring concluded, “The commonwealth will be siding with the plaintiffs in this case and with every other Virginia couple whose right to marry is being denied.”
