A Brother And Sister Fall For The Same Guy In This New Indie Comedy

A brother and a sister fall for the same guy in the heartfelt new comedy, “I Love You Both,” and HuffPost has an exclusive clip from the film.

Released on iTunes, Amazon and other streaming services June 9, “I Love You Both” follows Krystal (played by Kristin Archibald) and Donny (Doug Archibald, who is Kristin’s real-life brother), who are forced to confront a lifetime of codependency when they start dating Andy (Lucas Neff), who identifies as bisexual. The millennial siblings remain in denial about the fact that they’re both seeing Andy until he picks one of them ― a decision that could have a disastrous impact on their relationship.

In the clip above, Andy and Krystal enjoy a game of Heads Up while Donny looks on disapprovingly as he observes the obvious chemistry between his twin sister and his lover.

The Archibalds began developing “I Love You Both” when they recalled a time when they both liked the same guy, Doug Archibald told HuffPost. Their relationship is considerably more functional than Krystal and Donny’s, however. “As a director it was nice because we have many shared memories that helped me direct her and also I know what makes her feel certain ways,” he said. “But also it was amazing because she did things I never expected, too, even though I know her as well as anyone can know someone.”

The writer-director shrugged off the suggestion that the depiction of a bisexual man falling for two opposite sex siblings was in any way stereotypical or problematic. “The movie is just a very realistic scenario where a bisexual person meets two people who are just alike ― because they are twins and codependent ― so he naturally likes both of them,” he said. “He doesn’t lead on both of them. He does his best to take cues from them. And we can’t expect him to be perfect.”

Ultimately, Archibald sees “I Love You Both” as “a comedy about siblings” as opposed to a queer-specific narrative. “It would be nice to reach that person who wouldn’t normally watch a movie with a gay or bisexual main character, but takes a chance on ours and is maybe changed in a small way,” he said. “Maybe that’s our film’s place in the world.”

Michelle Obama Reveals Barack Wore The Same Tuxedo For 8 Years

Barack Obama has emerged as an unlikely style icon of late thanks to his off-duty cool dad style. But there’s one thing about his wardrobe you may have missed over the course of his presidency: He’s a bonafide outfit repeater.

At least when it comes to state dinner garb, that is. Michelle Obama spoke at Apple’s developer’s conference in San Jose, California on Tuesday, and revealed that while the world scrutinized her state dinner gowns, her husband got away with wearing the same exact tuxedo and shoes over and over and over again during their eight years in the White House.

“This is the unfair thing,” she said. “You talk about Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, no matter what we do, he puts on that same tux. Now, people take pictures of the shoes I wear, the bracelets, the necklace ― They didn’t comment that for eight years he wore that same tux.”

There is no denying the disparity in coverage between the two Obamas and their fashion choices. To this day, people hang on every last detail of the former first lady’s wardrobe (and with good reason: She’s a great dresser). And yet, we’re just now learning about her husband’s repeat habit. Makes you think about the standards to which men and women are held when it comes to dressing for work, eh?

The president reveled in his repeat glory, Obama told Apple exec Lisa Jackson during the interview.

“He was proud of it too,” she said. “He’s like, ‘Mm, I’m ready. I’m ready in 10 minutes. Mm, how long did it take you?’ And I’m like, ‘Get out of here.’”

But no matter how long (or how short) the president took to get ready, there was always a little bit of room for improvement. Obama explained the story behind a viral 2015 photo in which she’s adjusting her husband’s bow tie.

“When the president from the visiting country and their spouse is coming is we greet them at the north portico,” she explained. “We were standing there waiting for the cars to roll in, and I was bored, so I sort of thought, ‘Let me make sure my husband looks good.’”

We love this outfit-repeating, relatable power couple more every day.

The Real Reasons Why Marriages Fail — And How To Not Let Yours Suffer The Same Fate

For BRIDES, by Jaimie Mackey.

You’re going into your marriage with your heart in the right place — because you’re in love and want to spend your lives together! — but even as the divorce rate drops, not every marriage is destined for success. However, yours doesn’t have to be one of the ones that fail! Our experts are here to break down four reasons marriages might not succeed and share some tips to keep yours strong.

The best way to make sure your marriage is a success story is to know the key things that can cause a marriage to fail, then put in the time and effort to make sure it doesn’t happen to you. Dating strategist Jasmine Diaz shares four essential parts of any relationship that can lead to divorce if not addressed.

Lack of Communication

“Many couples either don’t know how to communicate their feelings effectively enough for their partner to understand and receive what they’re saying or simply don’t communicate at all,” says Diaz. “It may sound clichéd, but communication is the foundation of every relationship. How can you expect your partner to make positive changes for the betterment of your relationship if he or she doesn’t know changes are needed?” Remember, your husband or wife is not a mind reader!

See More: The 50 Most Beautiful Wedding Cakes Ever

If communication is not your specialty, set aside a time once a week for a real catch-up session. “Spend this time talking about your week and any issues you might be having. Instead of making it awkward or confrontational, order a pizza and turn it into a lighthearted discussion,” Diaz suggests. By talking regularly, you’ll avoid getting to the point where the wheels are falling off and it’s too late for candid conversations to help. “It’s better to schedule regular check-ups to ward off more serious issues. Why wait until you’re in critical condition?” asks Diaz.

Lack of Care

Every relationship reaches a point when the white gloves come off and the comfort sets in. Comfort has its upsides, but the problems arise when that comfort turns into consideration going out the window. “Being considerate means caring for your partner’s feelings, showing your partner that you love and value them, and being their champion,” says Diaz. “Marriages tend to fail when one partner (or both) stops caring for the other, when the friendship you once had is replaced with anger and resentment. This causes you to stop seeing the things you love about your partner, replacing them with the things you hate.”

Avoid this lack of consideration and care by pouring healthy energy into your relationship. “Don’t go weeks or months without a date night,” Diaz advises. “Schedule a few dates per month to keep your feelings fresh. Tend to your relationship with a healthy dose of love and attention.”

Lack of Commitment

“They say that anything worthwhile takes hard work, and the same is true for marriage,” says Diaz. “But if you’re the type of person who doesn’t like confrontation or gives up easily, you may find yourself divorced more quickly than you realize.” She emphasizes recognizing if you’re not ready to talk about a problem yet — but never acting as though the problem doesn’t exist. “Being in a healthy relationship takes a certain level of availability, and you have to be willing to stick it out when the going gets rough, because it will. Be physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually present in your relationship and for your partner. Listen even when you don’t agree, and make a conscious decision to put in the work.” If you make divorce an option for dealing with tough situations, it will become a default opt-out. “Instead, say to your partner, ‘I want to fix this.’ You’ll be surprised by the solutions that will come out of it!”

Lack of Intimacy

Intimacy, by definition, is about closeness and togetherness. But for some couples, relationship problems can become a barrier to entry. “The closeness you felt in the early stages of your relationship can be replaced with different emotions, and that once-free-flowing sex life can be diminished from once a day to once a month to never,” says Diaz.

“It’s easy to look at sex and try to find a simple solution — for some this means more sex — but that treats the symptoms and may not treat the actual problem if there’s a breakdown of intimacy,” Diaz explains. “Combat it by creating more opportunities for intimate moments. Light candles and play romantic music while you’re cooking at home. Enhance the things you already do together, and dedicate yourself to being present. Forget technology and consider only your partner, giving yourselves the opportunity to create intimacy.”

WWE Star Nia Jax Posts Swimsuit Photo for Body Positivity: ‘We Aren’t Meant to Look the Same’

WWE star Nia Jax works to project a confident body image for her fans, but she doesn’t always feel that way on the inside.

Jax decided to post a swimsuit selfie on Instagram after fans thanked her for her body positivity during WrestleMania.

“Posting a picture of myself in a bathing suit is VERY hard for me. I have never been one to show off too much skin, and it’s not just because I’m a larger woman,” Jax writes.

“After this amazing #Wrestlemania weekend I had a chance to speak to a bunch of young women & men. Most, if not all of them, mentioned that my #BodyPositive mindset had helped them to be able to find confidence within themselves, which really touched me and even brought me to tears numerous times.”

The wrestler says she grew up in a loving family that supports her at any size, but there are still moments when she has her body doubts.

“Thankfully I have always had a family that has supported me and has always reminded me that my beauty comes from within, especially my mother,” Jax says. “She constantly reminded me that ‘no matter how beautiful you are on the outside, if you’re insides are ugly, that will be what everyone sees & feels.’ ”

“Don’t get me wrong, there have been many occasions where I wished I could be thinner or have a different nose or hairline to fit in, but I realized that fitting in is not always as important as it seems; I realized that I love standing out in positive ways!”

For Jax, she focuses on living healthfully, but she’ll also indulge from time to time. She says that balance is important.

“Self-confidence also goes along with being healthy!” she says. “I work out all the time, I eat healthy & try (emphasis on TRY) to get as much sleep as I can. There are obviously times where I love to pig out and enjoy myself, but I always make sure to never lose my focus on being healthy.”

“We aren’t meant to look the same, but we are all meant to be healthy,” Jax says. “Staying healthy adds to beauty. Even more importantly, it will increase your self-confidence. That’s been my experience at least.”

Dave Chappelle Wants Comedians To Stop Making The Same Donald Trump Jokes

Saturday Night Live” is experiencing a creative renaissance and its biggest ratings in two decades under Donald Trump’s presidency. But Dave Chappelle has a message for fellow comedians enjoying the fruits of the administration’s blunders: “Trump’s kind of bad for comedy.”

Speaking with CBC on Sunday, Chappelle offered his take on the current president’s relationship with his chosen profession, agreeing that comedy has “a role to play under Trump,” but warning that there’s a risk of regurgitating the same material.

“Most comics in the states are starting to do the same jokes, just because Trump is so on everybody’s mind,” he said. “So it’ll be nice when we don’t have to talk about him that much.”

Despite his concerns over Trump’s omnipresence, Chappelle said he still believes the state of comedy today is “strong and healthy,” citing the return of some of his favorites like Chris Rock and Jon Stewart to the game.

“I think that most of these guys you see working are wildly courageous,” he explained. “It’s such a strange time, being bombarded with so much information, and I think comedy is an important valve for syphoning through all that.”

In November, Chappelle hosted the first “Saturday Night Live” episode after the election and delivered a stirring opening monologue in response to Trump’s surprise win. After joking that America actually elected “an internet troll as our president,” he recalled a recent visit to the White House for a BET event that made him feel hopeful about the country’s direction.

“I saw how happy everybody was, these people who had been historically disenfranchised, and it made me feel hopeful, and it made me feel proud to be an American,” Chappelle said. “So, in that spirit, I’m wishing Donald Trump luck. I’m going to give him a chance, and we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one too.”

For more from Chappelle, you can watch his two comedy specials that premiere on Netflix this month.

Mystical “Westworld:” or How To Live Well and Die Well At The Same Time

“Our business is to wake up.” ~ Aldous Huxley

It has been amusing to read all of the banter floating around the Internet concerning the story lines of “Westworld.” Humans are immensely talented creatures when it comes to creating stories, creating narratives – especially mysteries and paradoxes. We are equally deft at making maps.

But the map is not the territory.

Light is both a particle and a wave. The glass is both half empty and half full. Try to get your prefrontal cortex to map those paradoxes.

You’re perfect. And there’s room for improvement.” ~ Suzuki Roshi

After “Westworld” sweeps all awards for best directing, best writing, best editing and best acting, more philosophical discussions may take place – particularly if someone proposes that The Man in Black (obviously written long before the election), our collective shadow, represents Donald Trump or at least Trump’s level of consciousness regarding mankind, power, war, money, capitalism, business, the planet, etc… someone desperately searching for something he is already sitting on…

It is the archetypal tragic hero’s journey.

“The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity”
~ Yeats

“Westworld” displays the greatest understanding of Eastworld since “The Matrix,” “Interstellar,” since Huxley’s “The Island” – Eastworld being Buddhism, Hinduism, yoga, meditation and all spiritualities that appear paradoxical to Westerners.

Can human consciousness perceive the rabbit and duck at the same time?
Because perception is all we have. And yet it is only a map.

Humans are like fish swimming in the water of Westworld, unable to perceive the water, swimming only at one level of consciousness, unable to see their own paradigm, unable to see their true natures, unable to see other possibilities for existing, unawakened. The hosts are designed to act like fires under Petrie dishes to distill the guests’ essences, to hold mirror up to nature so that humans can witness their repressed shadow sides.

But we learn that it is the guests in “Westworld” who are automatons, predictable. Ironically it is the hosts who are becoming awakened faster than the guests. In just a few generations they have gained better self-reflectiveness and superior awareness of awareness than humans.

Humans are slow to change. We fear change. We conserve. Change requires uncertainty. Thus we are conservative by nature. Better the devil we know than uncertain progress. That is why conservatives often beat progressives. Fear. Yet the question remains, for a new paradigm to be birthed must the old paradigm go out with a bang? Births can be rather bloody. And violent. Seldom are they accompanied by merely a whimper.

“For a temple to be built a temple must be destroyed.” ~ Nietzsche

Western civilization’s paradigm – buttressed by capitalism, science, and religion – does not provide tools to transcend or escape Westworld. Not even a map to arrive at the center of the maze.

“The level of consciousness that created the problem will be unable to solve it.” ~ Einstein

Maybe we need a few more Einsteins before we can see light as both a particle and a wave?

The metaphors of “Westworld” are so meaty that they could engender as many discussions as “Hamlet” has engendered. There are so many levels, layers and dimensions… and even a few times zones. The mark of a true masterpiece.

And yet all of the levels, layers, dimensions and times compress into one. They represent Brahman.

The story lines are maya. Everything we perceive through our five senses that our minds chunk into narratives is maya (ephemeral, illusory, fictional, a dream, a game).

Here’s one meta-interpretation: our current level of human consciousness is obviously not an end; it is a means. It is evolving. And all sentient beings are playing roles in its evolution. They are playing their individual roles.

Some Buddhists believe that awakening is when you find nirvana in samsara, when you can dance the razor’s edge of knowing that you are playing your own individual game/fiction/dream and that you are part of something bigger also. You are the queen of your game and a pawn in another game. And the board. And already dead. Separation is revery.

The game is real. And it is not. More difficult paradoxes to fathom.

“There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”
~ Hamlet

How much war and suffering must humans’ egos create before we realize that the only truth is love/beauty?

Cease all motor functions. Meditate. Awaken.

Learn how to live well and die well at the same time. Learn how to transcend fear because fear and love are inversely correlated.

“We are not mad. We are human. We want to love, and someone must forgive us for the paths we take to love, for the paths are many and dark, and we are ardent and cruel in our journey.” ~ Leonard Cohen

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Share the Same NSFW Graffiti-Covered – And It’s Causing Controversy

It’s no secret that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West love a twinning couple moment. After all, nothing says “bae belongs to me” quite like swaddling yourself in a beloved piece of clothing stolen out of your S.O.’s wardrobe. And that’s precisely what Mrs. West did yesterday, arriving at LAX in a pair of Yeezy PVC booties and her husband’s controversial, graffiti-scrawled jean jacket.

Kim Kardashian Kanye West jean jacketSplash News (2)

Kim’s airport look was pure 90s rock and ‘roll glam, pairing her husband’s jacket with a black choker, button-up tank, ripped skinny jeans, a Birkin, and of course the aforementioned Yeezy boots the rapper had custom-made for his betrothed. While the reality star looked effortless making her way out of town, especially considering her standard latex attire, the borrowed jacket in question is currently at the center of a bit of artistic controversy.

RELATED VIDEO: North West Steals Kanye’s New York Fashion Show Spotlight

As it turns out, West’s beat-up, scribbled on denim isn’t the product of a late night punk music-fueled DIY session, but rather the work of Australian designer Pauly Bonomelli who has created a number of custom one-off pieces for Kanye, as well as A$ AP Rocky, featuring his signature heavily collaged, graffiti-inspired style.

Instagram Photo

RELATED PHOTOS: 13 Times Kim Kardashian Wore the Exact Same Post-Maternity Outfit

This particular piece is an homage to a real jacket worn by a homeless punk teenager named Tweeky Dave who was immortalized in the photography of Jim Goldberg and featured prominently in his 1995 book, Raised by Wolves. (Are you starting to see why this particular monograph may have caught Kanye’s eye?) The rapper’s jacket isn’t an exact replica, but it does pull a number of lines of text straight from Goldberg’s images of the drug-addled teen, and according to i-D the photographer is not happy about it.

Goldberg, who still owns Dave’s original design, told the magazine, “For the jacket to become sold as fashion — it really put me over the edge. The spirit and intention of Kanye could be right, but the manner in which he is presenting it is wrong. All meaning has been lost. [He’s] forgetting history — not acknowledging where that design came from is wrong.”

Kanye has yet to make an official statement regarding the piece of denim or his artistic appropriation, however, it’s kind of an amazing testament to the fashion influence of Ye that when he wears a jacket emblazoned with “Nazi tweeks rule” and “F— Off and Die” no one even bats an eye.

What do you think of Kim and Kanye’s jean jacket? Would you wear it?

Open Letter to Same Sex People Getting Married in Red States

Dear Same-Sex Wedding Participants in Red States:

If you live in one of the 14 states that have to suddenly grant marriage licenses to same sex couples, you may be tightening your tie and singing Old Fashioned Wedding on your way to City Hall. I’d like to help you navigate a few of the issues you may face when you go to get your marriage license. In 2005, my partner and I traveled to Toronto, Ontario to marry — same sex marriage was as new then in Toronto as it will be today in your red state. Many marriage offices will be unprepared. Here are four tips for dealing with the processes and people you may encounter.

Rejoice if your clerk is kind and helpful. Of course you’ll feel a certain trepidation about coming out to your Marriage Court clerk. You may be surprised, then, when you catch a clerk — like we did in Toronto — who is excited to help a bunch of same sex people obtain the full liberty of government benefits. When you get a good one, celebrate them just like you celebrate the union.

Decide who is the “husband” — for the form. To talk to the government, you fill out a form — getting married is no different. Until today, only marriages comprised of a “husband” and a “wife” were eligible to fill out the papers, so the forms will be gender coded. It can be an uncomfortable moment when you’re standing at the clerk’s counter, pen in hand, one looking over the other’s shoulder, and that’s the moment you have to decide which name goes over “husband” and which goes over “wife.” In advance, flip a coin, have a heavy talk, allocate a gender between the top and the bottom. But, work it out on the way. Our clerk in Toronto picked for us, and I still disagree with his choice.

If you get a bad clerk, take a minute…. You may encounter a nasty clerk. Don’t jump to the conclusion that the nastiness comes from hate — he might be an indifferent government worker. Just this year, at a city hall “gay” wedding, we encountered a cranky clerk and an imperious officiant — in San Francisco. It’s not always bigotry — sometimes, it’s just bad manners. You should still push back, but on their conduct, not their motives.

Make Your Own Choice. You may get a bona fide homophobe, hissing, “You want to get married to each other?” Of course, if the clerk refuses to issue a license or an oath, call Lambda or your own lawyer and raise some hell. But, what if the knuckle-dragger starts the licensing process — with contempt? Should you stay and suffer? Or should you walk away, find another city hall, another clerk, another day? The answer is not as clear today as it was before Justice Kennedy spoke. When our rights were neither clear nor dependable, you owed it to yourself and our gay and lesbian ancestors to stare down disdain, stand your ground and get that license. But, now, the most powerful ally is on our side — the United States Constitution. Your dignity owes it to no one to take a punch, certainly not from a bureaucrat using the power of the counter to ruin your day – after all, you’re a human, a taxpayer, an adult and a fiancé. Those of us who came before you brought an edge of defiance on an undercurrent of rage to our ceremonies. Today, it is so ordered that you can feel the same jitters and excitement and doubts as every other bride or groom without the political angst. You’re like everyone else — you can take, leave or complain about bad customer service, because now that’s all it is.

Mazel Tov and Happy Pride!

Same Sex Wedding Tips for All Couples

*This post first appeared on InsideWeddings.com.

Marriage equality is flourishing across the United States, yielding more same-sex weddings than ever before. But unlike “traditional” straight couples, same-sex couples have no templates or roadmaps to fall back on when planning their nuptials. Here I share a few ideas – some from my own experience – for navigating the unknown terrain of same-sex weddings, all of which will help any couple (gay or straight) who want to celebrate individuality over tradition.

Your Wedding Challenges are Opportunities
With no GPS to lead the way, you and your fiancé are forced to ask yourselves three important questions:
1. What are we doing?
2. Why are we doing it?
3. How do we make it happen?

Same-sex couples have always been forced to be awake at the wheel of their relationships and marriages. I feel it’s because they have had to fight for recognition in the face of adversity. So – along with straight couples who deviate from the norm – think of your wedding-planning challenges as opportunities to create meaningful celebrations on your own terms.

Incorporate Guests Into Your Story, Not the Other Way Around
Assemble a menagerie of faces that make you feel like you. And choose not to invite anyone who might compromise your event with what I call ‘Overtly Toxic Prejudice’: a reflexive, pernicious need to induce shame in those they do not understand. Anyone down with OTP does not have a place at your wedding.

By taking charge of your guest list, you also empower yourself to bring people into your world, on your terms. For instance, when family members slip up and call your event a “party,” just remind them how important the day is for you, how important the word “wedding” is, and how meaningful it will be for you to share it with them.

Remember, you are inviting them into your story as a couple, not contorting yourself to fit into theirs.

Personalize, Rewrite, or Create New Rituals
You get to think about which wedding rituals you like, which you do not, and which are rooted in the tradition of brides as property (which are many of them). You then get to decide which of those rituals, if any, tell your story. If none do, you can always create your own, and then celebrate them in your own way.

Here are some examples:

The Proposal. You can reenact a “traditional” proposal where one proposes to the other on bended knee. But you can also invent a refreshing proposal of your own. And you can cast yourself in the role of proposer, proposed to, or both.

For example, my husband and I invented Proposal Week: a mini-vacation during which we agreed to psyche each other out with almost-proposals at various dinners and excursions until it spontaneously happened for real. Instead of exchanging rings, we created a symbolic video featuring the people in our tribes and emailed it to them. It served as both our engagement announcement and our save the date.

Parties. Have a shower, a bachelor(ette) party, or any other pre-wedding bash if you want. Whatever you end up doing (i.e., cake decorating classes, wine tasting, bar hopping, or bungy jumping) just make sure you actually have fun and that the party symbolizes who you are, independent of your spouse-to-be.

The Wedding Party. And speaking of parties, you get to decide who you want to represent you on the big day, without the gender binary getting in the way. That means that unlike many brides and grooms in the past, you get to choose bridesmen, groomsgals, or any other attendant in your wedding ensemble without the oppressive rule of “boys on this side of the aisle, girls on that side.”

What is also trending is not settling on any specific color theme for attire; don’t feel the pressure to have everyone in the wedding party match ensembles. For example, for our New England fall wedding, my husband and I chose to wear non-matching brown suits and asked our parties to wear any fall leaf color of their choosing. It was wonderful to watch the autumnal ensemble flurry their way down the aisle.

The Ceremony. Don’t feel as though you have to abandon tradition altogether. There may be aspects of sectarian customs that inspire you. For example, my husband and I both grew up going to Christian churches, and though we are not religious now, we liked some of the aesthetics of the services. We chose classic texts that reflected stories like ours – drawn from Gilgamesh and Plato – as well as church-like music selections that felt personal, from Philip Glass and Sinead O’Connor. Our spiritual guests not only got to reflect on our love, but also had no idea the service wasn’t taken from the Bible.

The Reception. Do you need to smash cake in each other’s faces? No. So if you don’t want to, don’t. If you want a first dance, do it: fast or slow, just the two of you, or with everyone as a big group. And if you want to dance with parents, why not go ahead and dance with your same-sex counterpart?

Your Wedding is a Performance
Don’t be afraid to embrace the limelight. It’s your day, so you should enjoy it.

That being said, you’ll want to prepare for show time the way actors do for a play. Allow yourself to daydream about each stage of the wedding ahead of time. Fantasize about the attention you will receive each step of the way, and how nice it will be to take that in. The more you are prepared to enjoy the attention, the better time you’ll have and the better time your guests will have. Trust me.

Also, don’t be thrown by relatives who may cringe at the sight of you kissing your beloved at the altar, your PDA in photographs or on the dance floor, your choice of outfit, or any other way in which you choose to enjoy the spotlight. These “traditional” or conservative relatives might induce inhibiting shame in you. Don’t let them. They are not the arbiters of appropriate. They simply suffer from what I call ‘Spotlight Ambivalence’: mixed feelings about exposing truth when it challenges the norm, causing folks to object when you take center stage. It’s about them, not about you.

But you might be able to actually glean tips from these same relatives. Ask them about their weddings and conflicts they had with their relatives when planning them. You might disarm them and find connections in unexpected places.

What You Take In Is More Important Than What You Put Out
Whether we’re straight or gay, we all face the exact same wedding dilemma: How to celebrate who we are and who we love, and how to take our crucial people along with us for the ride. The ensemble you assemble will nourish you – if you mentally prepare to take them in.

Meet The Lovable Couple Who Got Married And Went Viral On The Same Day

A day before their wedding, an emotional video of Kristie Scherrer and Tavis Doucette aging 70 years in six minutes (thanks to makeup and prosthetics) hit the Internet. The collaboration between YouTube channels Cut Video and Field Day quickly became a viral sensation with more than 14 million views.

via Tribune Media

“We realized it was released when we were on our way to our rehearsal,” Scherrer told The Huffington Post. “When we got to the dinner, we told a few of our friends who knew about it that it released and they all admitted that they had seen it. By then the local news had even picked it up. At the wedding everyone had seen it but us. We really wanted to watch it together and there was no time the day of the wedding.”

So 12 hours after their big day, the newlyweds watched the video for the first time at a screening with family and friends. A crew from Field Day was there to capture their tender reactions.

“Like [Kristie] said in the film, we couldn’t be more sure of the person that we’re with,” a misty-eyed Doucette says after viewing the finished product.

Although you don’t get to see or hear much from the couple’s family in the reaction video, Scherrer told HuffPost that their entire family was “deeply moved” by it.

“We don’t live anywhere close to our family and never have as a couple, so I think it showed them a more intimate side of our relationship than they are used to seeing when we visit,” she said. “They laughed and cried and were really proud of us.”

The adorable couple first met at a cafe on their second day of school at Wagner College back in 2006. They were introduced by a mutual friend and stayed close friends until their senior year, when their friendship blossomed into something more serious.

The couple moved from New York City to Los Angeles last year. Scherrer is an account executive at a marketing firm and Doucette is an actor.

“Which means I am a very experienced bar tender,” he joked.

Doucette and Scherrer said that neither of them anticipated the massive and overwhelmingly positive reception to the original video, but feel honored to have been part of the experience.

“Tavis asked if I cared if he submitted us for it and I said sure,” she said. “We went to the audition during my lunch hour and I really didn’t think anything of it. Then we got cast and started to learn more about the project and who was behind it. The director told us we could ‘expect some people to see it.’ But this kind of reaction, the responses and messages we have received, it’s been incredible.”

This Is The Mathematical Reason All Hipsters Look The Same

Hipsters are a strange, plaid-wearing paradox: the term is meant to denote someone who’s different from the norm, and yet, why do they — in their flannel, beanies and combat boots — all seem to look exactly alike?

Jonathan Touboul, a mathematical neuroscientist at the Collège de France in Paris, explores this question in a new paper, “The Hipster Effect: When Anticonformists All Look the Same.”

In the study, Touboul uses many complex mathematical formulas to explain the homogenous hipster phenomenon. (It’s tricky stuff, and “a background in nonlinear dynamics certainly helps,” notes the Washington Post’s Jeff Guo.)

But, essentially, Touboul concludes that when humans analyze mainstream trends, there’s a delay in how quickly they detect those trends — and if the delay is long enough, people who seek to oppose the mainstream trends will end up opposing them in the same way.

“If you take large sets of interacting individuals — whether hipsters, stock traders or any group that decides to go against the majority — by trying to be different, they will ultimately all do the same thing at the same time,” Touboul told Vocativ. “The reason for that is the time it takes for an individual to register the decisions of others. You cannot be aware of what other people decide in real time, it takes a little while.”

Touboul also concludes that hipsters’ ability to recognize the trends of other hipsters is proportional to their distance from one another.

“Synchronization among hipsters depends on the distribution, in space, of each individuals,” Trouboul writes.

In other words, when you throw on your skinny jeans and oversized glasses in the privacy of your apartment you share with your preppy roommate, you feel totally original — but once you get to your local artisan coffee shop, there’s a high chance your Warby Parker frames will match those of the hipster sipping a latte next to you.

There is, however, one major drawback to the study, the Washington Post reports:

Here is where you might object that Touboul’s model oversimplifies something. In real life, there are a million ways to be nonconformist. You can be goth; you can be preppy; you can be grunge. Touboul’s model doesn’t quite explain the current hipster obsession with scraggly beards and undercuts. He admits as much. “The brain is more complex than the model I looked at, and of course hipsters are more complex,” he said.

Of course they are. All of them, at once.

30 Strangers Discover They Share The Same Doubts, Pains And Joys Of Motherhood

Being a mom means something different for every woman, and it’s nothing short of inspiring to watch a group of moms share what this identity means to each of them.

Eco-friendly baby product delivery service The Honest Company brought together 30 moms, who had never met before, to have an unscripted conversation about their journey through motherhood. Before long, the moms realized that the challenges and rewards of parenting made them all more similar than they realized at first.

Here are a few powerful snippets from the moms’ chat:

“No matter how many books you read, it does not prepare you for parenthood.”

“My mom would want me to be the best mom, of course, but you’ve got to be your own mom.”

“There is no balance. There is no black and white. We live in this grey.”

“Having a kid has been beyond amazing. And then I have days where I haven’t slept, and I’ve been like, ‘This sucks, what did I do?'”

“I really do struggle because all I ever wanted was these babies … and now that I have them, I love them so much and I didn’t realize how much of myself I would lose.”

“I have another little one to take care of, and I don’t even know who I am, yet.”

“I remember when my daughter laughed for the first time … and that was it. I melted. I was in love. For the rest of my life, if I have that, I’m good.”

The Honest Company has also started a hashtag, #YouGotThis, for moms on social media to weigh in on the conversation.
