Eric Dickerson says Hall of Famers “with names” may boycott Hall of Fame festivities

The NFL's annual Canton kickoff is coming, with the league holding several days of events in and around a museum that will add eight more bronze busts — and that will rely on current members of the club to break out their yellow jackets and return to the cradle of pro football. Last September, Dickerson sent a letter to Commissioner Roger Goodell, NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith, and Hall of Fame president David Baker demanding lifetime health insurance, an annual salary for Hall of Famers, and a share of league revenue. The effort quickly crumbled, fueled by dynamic from the fact that some Hall of Famers didn't know their names were placed on the letter to Dickerson's demand that the Hall of Famers should get $ 300,000 per year to backing away from that claim to taking issue with 31-year-old news reports that Dickerson had crossed the picket line in 1987.

Criticized for Charms That Evoke Blackface, Prada Says It ‘Abhors Racist Imagery’

Facing online accusations that animal-like figurines and charms in its stores and windows evoke blackface, Prada Group issued a statement saying it “abhors racist imagery” and vowed to withdraw them from “display and circulation.”
In a Facebook post, Chinyere Ezie, a civil rights lawyer, said the sight of the figurines in the Italian brand’s store in New York’s SoHo district had her “shaking with anger,” describing “racist and denigrating #blackface imagery” and “Sambo like imagery.”

Ezie noted she had just returned from a visit to the National Museum of African-American History and Culture in Washington, taking in an exhibit on blackface.
“History cannot continue to repeat itself. Black America deserves better. And we demand better,” she wrote in her post, which got picked up by other blogs. “Shame on you Prada.”

In a statement, Prada said the figures are “fantasy charms composed of elements of the Prada oeuvre” and known as Pradamalia.
“They are imaginary creatures not intended to have any reference to the real world and certainly not blackface. Prada Group never had the intention of offending anyone and we abhor all forms of racism and racist imagery. In this interest we will withdraw the characters in question from display and circulation,” it said.

President Trump Says He Plans to Sign an Executive Order Terminating Birthright Citizenship

Donald Trump’s tough stance on immigration was pushed even further on Monday night, when the president revealed his plans to terminate birthright citizenship.

In an interview with Axios on HBO, Trump said he hopes to sign an executive order that would end the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which gives right to citizenship for babies of non-citizens and unauthorized immigrants born on American soil.

“It’s in the process. It’ll happen with an executive order,” Trump said, surprised the Axios on HBO hosts knew about his plan. “I didn’t think anybody knew that but me. I thought I was the only one.”

“It was always told to me that you needed a constitutional amendment. Guess what? You don’t,” Trump said, adding that White House lawyers were working on it. “You can definitely do it with an act of Congress but now they’re saying I can do it with just an executive order.”

Many countries, including Canada, grant birthright citizenship, though Trump told Axios on HBO that it was only a problem in the United States.

“We’re the only country in the world where a person comes in and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for 85 years with all of those benefits,” Trump said. “It’s ridiculous. It’s ridiculous. And it has to end.”

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

News of Trump’s plan comes a week before the mid-term elections, where feelings about his polarizing immigration policy are expected to be a driving factor to the polls.

Immigration has been a major focus of controversy throughout Trump’s presidential campaign and presidency — from his promises to build a wall to his now-reversed zero-tolerance policy that separated migrant children from their families and held them at detainment centers at the U.S./Mexico border.

The president has also been escalating his threats about a migrant caravan of 4,000 Central Americans walking through Central America fleeing violence and grim living conditions in their home countries and expected to seek asylum in the United States. On Monday, the Pentagon announced the deployment of 5,200 additionally troops to meet the caravan at the border.

I called up the military, they’re wasting their time,” he told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham in a pre-recorded interview that aired Monday, maintaining his unconfirmed claim that the group of immigrants coming included “many gang members.”

RELATED VIDEO: PEOPLE Writer Natasha Stoynoff Breaks Silence, Accuses Donald Trump of Sexual Attack

As for what would happen to those immigrants applying for asylum, Trump said he plans to “build tent cities” and “hold” them there before their pending court dates rather than release them into the U.S.

“If they applied for asylum, we’re going to hold them until such time as their trial takes place,” Trump told Ingraham. “We’re going to put up, we’re going to build tent cities. We’re going to put tents up all over the place. We’re not going to build structures and spend all of this, you know, hundreds of millions of dollars — we’re going to have tents. … They’re going to be very nice.”

Tristan Thompson Says ‘Of Course’ He’ll Propose to Khloé Kardashian ‘Eventually’

Tristan Thompson wants to commit to Khloé Kardashian.

In a scene from Sunday night’s episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Thompson FaceTimed Kris Jenner to discuss a push present for Kardashian. (At the time, she was expecting the couple’s first child, daughter True.)

“I remember Koko saying she wanted something where she could pass it down, generation after generation,” he said.

“You know, Corey bought me for Christmas a couple of years ago this really beautiful little diamond ring that you could put on any finger,” suggested Jenner, 62, before gushing: “You know, until you get that really huge diamond that’s going to go on on her ring finger!”

“Of course,” replied Thompson, 27. “Eventually!”

Kardashian, 34, gave birth to True on April 12 — just days after allegations surfaced that Thompson cheated on her throughout her pregnancy. The scandal will unfold on this season of KUWTK.

Nevertheless, she stuck by the NBA star, in part for the sake of their baby girl, and the couple spent the summer in Los Angeles working to rebuild their relationship.

While the new mom has mostly avoided publicly discussing the scandal, she addressed it on social media last month while responding to speculation that she and Thompson were talking about getting married. In a comment, she denied the rumor and responded to an Instagram user who accused her of “acting like Tristan didn’t cheat.”

“I’m not acting as if Tristan didn’t cheat,” she wrote. “I’m saying the story about marriage and anyone insinuating they know what we speak about privately is ‘crap.’ ”

At the time, a source told PEOPLE that while Kardashian and Thompson were “doing great,” there was “no mention of an engagement yet.”

“They are still working through stuff, but it very much seems they will stay together,” said the source.

Last week, a source told PEOPLE that Kardashian had indefinitely postponed her move back to Cleveland with Thompson as she struggles to cope with lingering doubts over the relationship.

“Khloé has seemed emotional,” said the source. “Her feelings about Tristan cheating is something that she is still dealing with. She has good weeks when she is fine about it and weeks when she is upset about it.”

“It’s of course difficult to trust someone 100 percent who cheated days before he was about to become a dad,” the source continued. “Khloé still struggles with this sometimes.”

A second source told PEOPLE that Kardashian often feels “overwhelmed or exhausted,” in part because of the current season of her family’s reality show.

“Khloé has every reason to occasionally feel ,” said the source. “She’s a new mom, a first-time mom, and her TV show is currently replaying one of the most emotional times in her life. It’s a lot.”

“There no one thing that is particularly going haywire or posing a problem right now,” explained the source. “It’s just that she, like everyone else, has moments where she feels tired, she feels overwhelmed … completely depleted. She rarely gives herself a break and she’s constantly trying to be the best mom, best sister, best daughter, best at everything, and sure, she sometimes has moments like anyone else where she feels like she’s pushed herself too far. She’s human.”

While First Lady Melania Trump is once removed in terms of being an elected official, she made today’s visit to Cairo – the finale of a four African nation tour, a cinematic one with a visit to the Pyramids in Ginzi.
Her arrival in Egypt began with some of the ingredients of the standard airport meet-and-greet: Schoolchildren, her fellow First Lady Entissar al-Sisi and a red carpet. But what was the third of four diplomatic entrances this week bordered on silent, according to a press pool. No music played and “very tough security” kept a close eye. In addition, police manned rooftops as the motorcade made its way through the city streets. Although work weeks can reel into Cairo as many as 25 million people, traffic was not an issue, partially due to Saturday being a holiday, the pool said. Media types were advised to leave their electronic devices behind, when the caravan stopped at the presidential palace. There, Trump and Egypt President Abdul Fattah el-Sisi met behind closed doors for under an hour.
Today’s activities included paying a visit to officials at the U.S. Embassy

Justin Bieber’s Manager Says He Once Feared Singer Would Die from ‘So Much Crap in His System’

Scooter Braun says that he once thought Justin Bieber would die in his sleep.

The music manager, 37, opened up about the “What Do You Mean?” singer’s dark past in a wide-ranging interview on Van Lathan’s The Red Pill podcast.

“I thought he was going to die,” Braun said candidly about Bieber, 24, in the discussion released Wednesday. “I thought he was going to go to sleep one night and have so much crap in his system that he would not wake up the next morning.”

Braun explained, “There was a time where I would go to sleep almost every night, when he had the money to fly away from me, and I was worried every night that I was going to lose him.”

Braun said he tried to save Bieber by keeping him from his music. “That was the time where I was telling him he’s not allowed to work,” Braun recalled. “And he used to yell and scream at me. He wanted to put music out, he wanted to tour, but I thought if he did that, he would die. So I just refused. We weren’t making any money … I didn’t want him to work because I wanted him to get healthy.”

Braun says that Bieber, who is engaged to Hailey Baldwin, is now in a much healthier place, all thanks to Bieber’s own determination. “I think that he made a conscious choice for himself to change,” Braun shared. “It wasn’t until one day he woke up and said, ‘Hey, I need to talk to you. I don’t want to be this person anymore.’ He made the decision to change and actually put that into action. The result is who he’s become today.”

In March 2013, after a week in which Bieber was treated for shortness of breath mid-show and lunged at a photographer, a source told PEOPLE, “He’s wildin’ out. On a scale of hot sauce, he’s a mild, but his money is so hot, it can get him anything.”

The next month, police raided Bieber’s tour bus in Sweden and confiscated drugs.

Then, in January 2014, Bieber’s home was raided by police after he allegedly threw eggs at a neighbor’s house.

Weeks later, he was arrested in Miami for DUI. “Mr. Bieber made a statement that he had consumed some alcohol, and that he had been smoking marijuana and had consumed some prescription medication,” a Miami Beach Police spokesperson said at the time.

“The people close to him try, but he’s a mess,” an industry source told PEOPLE in 2014. “He acts as though he’s never heard the word ‘no’ and he thinks he’s God.”

RELATED: Justin Bieber’s Manager Scooter Braun Shows Off the Home Ellen DeGeneres Convinced Him to Buy

Speaking on Lathan’s The Red Pill podcast, Braun reflected on the scrutiny Bieber’s behavior received. “I think Justin is an extraordinary young man who has been given an extraordinary life, and because of that he cannot complain that he’s held to extraordinary standards,” Braun said. “He used to complain, he used to fight it, and that’s kind of what got him into a dark place.”

Braun continued, “But when he accepted his responsibility and took a hard look at himself and not what everyone else was doing, that’s when he owned it, and he got healthy, and he got better, and he made the choice to change.”

N.J. Couple Accused of Spending Homeless Man’s GoFundMe Donations Could Be Indicted, Lawyer Says

An attorney for a New Jersey couple accused of spending thousands of a homeless man’s GoFundMe donations could be indicted, according to their lawyer, who has has filed a motion saying he and his firm may no longer be able to continue representation, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

What began as a feel-good story has turned into a criminal investigation after Johnny Bobbitt, a 35-year-old homeless veteran living in Philadelphia, accused Kate McClure, 28, and her 39-year-old boyfriend Mark D’Amico of spending the more than $ 400,000 they raised for him on GoFundMe on lavish vacations and a new BMW.

Now, the couple’s lawyer has told a Burlington County judge that he and his law firm could possibly step down from representing the pair, holding that either McClure, D’Amico, or both will likely be indicted in the headline-making case.

“Since it is expected that one or both of the Defendants will likely be indicted, my firm and I will no longer be able to continue our representation of them in this matter,” the couple’s attorney, Ernest Badway, wrote in a motion filed Friday in Burlington County Superior Court. “(However, we are not seeking that relief at this time, we merely wanted to make the Court aware of the potential future development.)”

Badway declined to comment on the motion, but indicates to PEOPLE that he is currently representing McClure and D’Amico.

He noted in the motion that D’Amico and McClure are “unable to defend themselves or respond in any meaningful way” to requests to know where the remaining funds went because their financial and business records have been seized by prosecutors.

The motion came to light in a deposition on Monday, but was dated Thursday, according to CBS News — the same day the Florence Police Department raided McClure and D’Amico’s home, and seized their BMW in what Burlington County Prosecutor Scott A. Coffina declared a “criminal investigation.”

RELATED STORY: GoFundMe Donors Speak Out as Couple Is Accused of Spending Homeless Man’s Money: ‘Despicable’

Officials with the prosecutors office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from PEOPLE. However, no charges have been filed against the couple, according to CBS.

Burlington County Superior Court Judge Paula Dow on Monday granted Badway’s request to stay the civil suit, halting legal proceedings through Dec. 7 due to the criminal investigation.

Bobbitt, originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, first met McClure last October, when her car ran out of gas on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia. Bobbitt famously spent his last $ 20 to buy gas for McClure. Moved by his kindness, she and D’Amico set up a GoFundMe page to help Bobbitt get back on his feet. More than 14,000 donated a total of $ 402,706 to the man.

The motion follows a string of twists in the case. Just days before police searched McClure and D’Amico’s home, an attorney for the couple told Dow that the remainder of Bobbitt’s massive sum is gone.

“It is safe to say that we were shocked and concerned when their lawyer told us Tuesday that there was no money left,” Bobbitt’s attorney, Jacqueline Promislo, previously told PEOPLE. “We are now doing some discovery on an emergency basis to try to figure out where the money went but at this time we have no further information.”

RELATED STORY: Homeless Vet Will Get $ 400K in GoFundMe Donations Despite Couple’s Alleged Fraud, Lawyer Says

The couple had been ordered to hand the money over to Bobbitt’s attorneys, but never did. In a complaint filed by his attorney and obtained by PEOPLE, Bobbitt accused the couple of fraud and conspiracy, alleging that the couple spent most of the funds on vacations to Las Vegas, Florida, and California, along with a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon and a new BMW for McClure.

McClure and D’Amico have denied the allegations and spoke about the incident last week on Megyn Kelly Today, claiming that they went above and beyond to track down the man’s birth certificate and get him identification.

“He was our family. He is our family. I still think, to this day, that he is our family,” McClure told Kelly. McClure spoke through tears as she claimed the couple’s been receiving death threats.

GoFundMe officials are working with authorities in the matter, and have set up an account with $ 20,000 with Bobbitt’s lawyers, according to Good Morning America. Officials with the fundraising site announced that Bobbitt will receive a portion of the donations as a result of their GoFundMe Guarantee program, a policy that ensures recipients receive their money, or those who have donated receive refunds in the event of “campaign misuse.”

Billie Jean King Says Serena Williams Is Treated Differently Than Male Athletes as WTA Backs Her

After Serena Williams‘ controversial loss to Japan’s Naomi Osaka at Saturday’s U.S. Open Women’s Final — during which Williams received three violations and confronted the chair umpire, whom she called a “thief” — tennis great Billie Jean King is addressing major factors that she says played a role in how the game transpired: Williams’ gender and race.

King, 74, writes in an op-ed The Washington Post published Sunday, “The ceiling that women of color face on their path to leadership never felt more impenetrable than it did at the women’s U.S. Open final on Saturday.”

Williams, 36, was fined $ 17,000 from her $ 1.85 million prize money for her three violations: $ 10,000 for verbally abusing the umpire, Carlos Ramos; $ 4,000 for receiving a warning about coaching; and $ 3,000 for breaking a racket. Critics called some of the punishments sexist, claiming that males exhibit the same emotion on the court without being penalized.

“What was supposed to be a memorable moment for tennis, with Serena Williams, perhaps the greatest player of all time, facing off against Naomi Osaka, the future of our sport, turned into another example of people in positions of power abusing that power,” argues King, the 39-time Grand Slam winner who was portrayed by Emma Stone in the 2017 biopic Battle of the Sexes.

RELATED: From Her Tough U.S. Open Loss to Battling Sexism: Serena Williams’ Hard Road to Tennis Fame

After receiving the game penalty for court violation, Williams told Ramos, “You will never, ever, ever be on another court of mine as long as you live. You are the liar. When are you going to give me my apology? You owe me an apology. Say it. Say you’re sorry. … And you stole a point from me. You’re a thief, too!”

As King sees it, Ramos treated Williams differently than how he would treat male tennis pros. “Women are treated differently in most arenas of life,” writes King for the Post. “This is especially true for women of color. And what played out on the court yesterday happens far too often. It happens in sports, in the office and in public service. Ultimately, a woman was penalized for standing up for herself. A woman faced down sexism, and the match went on.”

RELATED: Serena Williams Loses at U.S. Open, Lashes Out at Umpire Over Cheating Penalty: ‘You’re a Thief’

For King, Williams’ struggle — and the way she reacted to it — is a teachable moment for women. “I understand what motivated Williams to do what she did,” King writes for the Post. “And I hope every single girl and woman watching yesterday’s match realizes they should always stand up for themselves and for what they believe is right. Nothing will ever change if they don’t.”

On Saturday, Williams’ was given a third violation for illegal coaching from her player box during the first set against Osaka, 20. Williams told Ramos, “I don’t cheat to win, I’d rather lose. I’m just letting you know.”

“If tennis would catch up with the 21st century and allow coaching on every point, the situation on the court would never have escalated to the level of absurdity that it did,” writes King for the Post. “Every player, after all, still has to play the match — she has to execute on every point, and she should never be held responsible for the actions of a coach. Coaching happens all the time, at all levels of tennis. So why not just allow it?”

King cites her personal experience in the Post piece, explaining how she relates to Williams: “I found myself in similar situations in my career; once, I even walked off the court in protest. It wasn’t my proudest moment, but it may have been one of my more powerful ones.”

Ultimately, writes King in the Post, “Ramos crossed the line. He made himself part of the match. He involved himself in the end result. An umpire’s job is to keep control of the match, and he let it get out of control. The rules are what they are, but the umpire has discretion, and Ramos chose to give Williams very little latitude in a match where the stakes were highest.”

However, King notes in the Post, “Williams could have taken some responsibility and moved on after the first warning (and, speaking from experience, it’s debatable whether she knew this was a warning or not), and before the point and game penalties started flying.”

Another tennis great also came to Williams’ defense this past weekend: Novak Djokovic, 31, who won the U.S. Open Men’s Final on Sunday night. When asked what he thought about the incident between the 23-time Grand Slam winner and Ramos, he responded, “I have my personal opinion that maybe the chair umpire should not have pushed Serena to the limit, especially in a Grand Slam final … He did change the course of the match. It was, in my opinion, maybe unnecessary. We all go through our emotions, especially when you’re fighting for a Grand Slam trophy.”

As accusations of sexism continue to fly at tennis officials and institutions from players and fans alike, the Women’s Tennis Association elected to side with Williams. WTA CEO Steve Simon showed support in a statement released on the organization’s website.

“Yesterday also brought to the forefront the question of whether different standards are applied to men and women in the officiating of matches,” wrote Simon. “The WTA believes that there should be no difference in the standards of tolerance provided to the emotions expressed by men vs. women and is committed to working with the sport to ensure that all players are treated the same. We do not believe that this was done last night.”

RELATED: Naomi Osaka Talks U.S. Open Win

Once the match concluded, Williams didn’t shake the umpire’s hand and she continued demanding an apology as the crowd roared with boos.

During the post-match trophy ceremony, Williams addressed the crowd, saying, “Well, I don’t want to be rude, I don’t want to do questions. played well, this is her first Grand Slam. I know you guys were here rooting. Let’s make this the best moment we can. Let’s not boo anymore. We’re gonna get through this and we’re gonna be positive. No more booing!”

RELATED: Serena Williams Comforts Tearful Naomi Osaka in Viral U.S. Open Moment: ‘Let’s Not Boo Anymore’

Fighting back tears after the match, Osaka said, “I know that everybody was cheering for her. I’m sorry it had to end like this. I just want to say thank you for watching the match.”

King also showed support for Osaka in her Post piece, writing, “Lost in the craziness of the evening was the fact that Osaka played excellent tennis and won her first major title. Competing against her childhood idol, she summoned her A game and earned her championship — no need for any asterisk in the record book. She was the best player on the court Saturday.”

Ariana Grande Says Fiancé Pete Davidson ‘Ticks Every Box,’ Reveals They’ll Likely Marry in 2019

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson just knew.

In interview with Michael Strahan for Good Morning America on Wednesday, the singer, 25, revealed why she considers the Saturday Night Live star her soul mate.

“It’s just like a feeling, you know?” Grande told Strahan before laughing to herself, adding, “That’s so cheesy. People are always like, ‘When you know you know,’ and you’re like, ‘Yeah, okay, whatever.’ ”

Strahan further pressed the pop star, asking for specifics. “You just feel it… He just ticks every box, and it gets better every day,” she responded. “I’m very grateful for him. Life is beautiful.”

Grande also admitted she knows all eyes are on her and Davidson, 24, when they step out, saying, “We’re so annoying, huh?… It must be the worst.”

“We’re just grateful, enjoying every minute because life’s too short,” Grande added.

Up next for the couple? Wedding planning — though Grande told GMA the couple is “taking their time.”

“My friends and I, and my mom and everybody have been brainstorming and sharing ideas,” she said. “It’s really fun. I work so much I’ve never spent so much time planning something that’s personal, that feeds my soul so much and my heart. I’m gonna cry. I’m just so excited.”

Grande said that the pair won’t make their trek down the aisle soon, though, teasing, “It’s gonna be like, next year.”

The star also opened up about her new album, Sweetener, released on August 17, and the much-discussed track named after Davidson — a song, she told Strahan, she wrote as a “love letter.”

During the interview, Grande spoke with Strahan about grappling with the terrorist attack at her concert in Manchester in May 2017, which killed 22 people.

“I wanted to kind of subliminally honor the Manchester victims,” she said about a track on her new album, “Get Well Soon.” Continued Grande, “I wanted to make the length of the song five minutes and 22 seconds as a way to celebrate and honor them and their lives, because that song is about healing. It’s supposed to be a great big musical hug for anybody going through anything dark.”

The North Face Says, ‘Walls Are Meant for Climbing’

NORTH FACE’S NEW ASCENTS: Walls have all sorts of undertones, given the politically charged immigration debate. With its “Walls Are Meant for Climbing” initiative, The North Face is trying to get people to look at walls in a new way.
With this program and free climbing classes on Aug. 18’s Global Climbing Day, the company is trying to get people to look at walls as a way to unite people rather than divide them. The North Face is continuing its partnership with The Trust for Public Land to support the installation of public climbing walls in underserved communities. Last month, The North Face opened its first free, public bouldering wall in the Montbello Open Space Park near Denver. Last year’s Global Climbing Day featured 20,000 participants and this year’s goal is 100,000, according to Tom Herbst, global vice president of marketing at The North Face. “We want this day to be a reminder of the type of community we all want to live, work and play in — one that is inclusive, inspiring and unifying.”
The North Face has also signed up to sponsor Psicobloc, the 2018 Deep Water Solo Climbing Series, which starts this weekend in Park City, and continues Aug.

Mark Hamill Says His ‘Final Chapter’ of Star Wars Will Be ‘Bittersweet’ Without Carrie Fisher

Mark Hamill is paying tribute to Carrie Fisher before his return to Star Wars.

The 66-year-old actor Tweeted on Sunday about his return to the franchise and shared some pictures of his time with Fisher in the previous movies. The two starred as twins Luke and Leia through 5 previous Star Wars films.

“It’s bittersweet facing my final chapter without her-She is simply irreplaceable,” he wrote. “I’m finding solace in the fact that she won’t BE replaced & would love the worldwide outpouring of affection from those who loved her when they heard the news.”

On Friday, Disney and Lucasfilm revealed the official cast list for the ninth trip to a galaxy far, far away and it contained one major surprise: Fisher is back as Leia, despite her shocking death in 2016.

According to the studio’s online announcement, production on the newest Star Wars adventure is expected to commence on Aug. 1, and Fisher is among the listed cast members returning for the film, thanks to some unused footage shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Returning director J.J. Abrams, who co-wrote the script for Episode IX alongside Chris Terrio, said in a statement, “We desperately loved Carrie Fisher. Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII.”

Fisher died December, 2016 at age 60 of a cardiac arrest.

Carole Radziwill Says She Walked Away from Something That Went Against Her Values After RHONY Exit

Carole Radziwill is asking fans what they would do if they were in her shoes.

On Friday, just days after announcing her departure from the Real Housewives of New York, the reality star polled her Instagram followers to see whether they would follow their hearts or put their bank accounts first.

In an Instagram Story, Radziwill, 54, posed a question to her fans, “If you were doing something that was forcing you to do things that went against your own value system would you walk away regardless of the pay? Its a tough decision.”

After fans overwhelming voted “yes” on her survey, the journalist wrote, “So 80% would walk away from something that went against their own values.”

It was a decision, she told fans, that she was forced to make recently.

“That’s how I felt this past year too. It’s difficult but life is long and you can’t always play the short game,” the star added.

It appears she is very happy with that decision, as the best-selling author was beaming in the photograph.

The smiling star looked chic but casual in a pair of ripped jeans and a white T-shirt as she soaked in some sun during her vacation in Aspen, Colorado.

“I am sure this does not come as a surprise to any of the viewers, all of whom have been supportive, encouraging, and kind. My original curiosity about reality television has waned over the years and I am focusing on TV and writing projects that better suit my more steady temperament,” Radziwill told PEOPLE in a statement on Wednesday.

PEOPLE learned that her ongoing feud with Bethenny Frankel also influenced her choice, as indicated by the portion of her statement in which she said she was “thrilled to leave frenemies behind.”

“They never seemed to be able to reconcile. The show couldn’t go on another season with both of them at each other’s throats. And Bethenny’s an OG. She’s been there since the beginning. She’s a , but she gives the show a lot of energy,” a source tells PEOPLE. “There’s no way they’re going to do it without her. Last time she left, the show went to hell.”

However, one production source insists that as far as producers are concerned, Radziwill could have chosen to stay: “She was not pushed to leave. She left on her own accord.”

She ended her statement with sincerity and wit. “I have worked with amazing producers, made great friends, and I’m thrilled to leave frenemies behind,” Radziwill wrote. “I will remember this entire experience with delight, humor, and a veracious accuracy. Next.”

In RHONY‘s tenth season, airing now, Radziwill has had a pretty epic fallout with Frankel, though she’s still friendly with Tinsley Mortimer, Ramona Singer, Dorinda Medley, Sonja Morgan and Luann de Lesseps.

On Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen Wednesday, Ramona Singer told Cohen she’s “sad” to see Radziwill go.

“I love Carole inside and out. I think she’s really warm, special, down to earth, truthful, giving, kind, supportive of women, genuine, smart fabulous. I’m like, ‘Wow.’ I’m going to miss not being with her doing the next season. It’s going to be a void,” Singer said, shaking her head. “This is going to be a void for me,” Singer added.

Luann de Lesseps Says She’s 6 Months Sober as She Reunites with First Husband and Kids

Luann de Lesseps says she’s six months sober.

The Real Housewives of New York City star took to Instagram to document the milestone day, which she spent in Sag Harbor, New York, with her first husband Count Alexandre de Lesseps and their two kids, Noel and Victoria.

“Greatest reunion ever!” she captioned a photo of her and the Count. “Wonderful to spend the weekend with the kids and The Count. Also counting my blessings! Celebrating 6 months of sobriety! Happy 4th of July, everyone! @noeldelesseps @victoriadelesseps #onedayatatime #lovemyfamily #grateful #rhony #countess.”

De Lesseps, 53, was arrested last Christmas Eve in Palm Beach, Florida, and charged with disorderly intoxication, battery on an officer, resisting arrest with violence and threatening a public servant. (She’s since pleaded not guilty and rejected a plea deal in February.)

She later apologized for the incident, admitting that being back in Palm Beach for the first time since she tied the knot with Tom D’Agostino Jr. before divorcing him seventh months later had “brought up long-buried emotions.”

She entered a treatment facility and began focusing on her personal wellbeing.

Speaking to PEOPLE in April, the Bravo star opened up about how she explained the arrest to her kids.

“I told my children I did something that I am not proud of, and I asked them to forgive me,” she said. “They were like, ‘We don’t care about that. We don’t care about what people think. We know who you are, and we love you and we’re here.’ They were great.”

Along with her kids, de Lesseps said she could count on her fellow Housewives to be there for her — regardless of the drama always being stirred up on screen.

“The Housewives can be really bitchy sometimes, but when push comes to shove and you’re down and you need to be picked up, the ladies were right there for me,” she said.

Despite what the incident cost her, de Lesseps said she found a silver lining and hasn’t resumed drinking.

“Unless I was humiliated publicly, I don’t think I would have done anything,” she said. “This was a warning. It was meant to happen so that I could take a step back and look at myself in a different way. I’m grateful to the universe for making me change my life.”

The Real Housewives of New York City airs Wednesdays (9 p.m. ET) on Bravo.

Twin Peaks Creator David Lynch Says Trump Could Be ‘One of the Greatest Presidents in History’

David Lynch thinks Donald Trump‘s presidency has disrupted the America’s political system in a good way.

The Twin Peaks creator and director spoke to The Guardian about his political leanings, revealing that he voted for Bernie Sanders in the primary and thinks he voted Libertarian in the election. But although he didn’t support Trump, he now feels the real estate mogul’s administration could change the country for the better.

“He could go down as one of the greatest presidents in history because he has disrupted the thing so much,” Lynch said. “No one is able to counter this guy in an intelligent way.”

While Lynch says he supports an outsider changing things, he doesn’t think Trump is doing a good job himself. He just hopes his win opens the door to more options to serve as president.

“Our so-called leaders can’t take the country forward, can’t get anything done,” Lynch said. “Like children, they are. Trump has shown all this.

Serena Williams Says Daughter Olympia Inspires Her to Speak Out Against Domestic Violence

For tennis star Serena Williams, joining the fight against domestic and financial violence is crucial to not only being a strong role model, but to being a mother to 9-month-old daughter Alexis Olympia.

The athlete has teamed up with Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse initiative where she aims to be a powerful voice to speak up for others who may not be able to.

“These women probably can’t use their voice so it’s important for them to know that there are people out there that are using their voice and letting them know that there is a place, that we can do something about it,” the superstar said at an event for the initiative on Wednesday.

According to Allstate, one in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime, with 99 percent of cases being financial abuse. As a new mother, these shocking statistics really hit home, Williams, 36, told PEOPLE.

“Having a daughter means that she’s one in four. Hopefully those stats don’t go up by the time she’s dating and meeting people, but they can if you don’t make people aware of it,” she said.

RELATED: Prepare to ‘Aww’: Inside the Cuddly Life of Serena Williams’ Daughter, Alexis Olympia

Williams recalled wanting to join Purple Purse after realizing how little she knew about the subject, figuring that many other people were in the dark about the issue as well.

“ is a subject that people are not really comfortable talking about, but sometimes talking about the uncomfortable is what we have to do,” Williams said. “We’re doing that now with Me Too, with Times Up, and I feel like we’re making those steps. We want to make this a movement.”

As a frequent advocate for women’s rights and equal pay in sports, Williams doesn’t shy away from reminding women that their voice deserves to be heard. The best advice she can give to both her daughter and women today is to “always speak up, and from the first day.”

“If you keep letting it go on, the situation gets worse and worse until you’re just completely downtrodden,” she added.

As an ambassador for the organization, Williams wants to bring awareness through education and social media. Last fall, the four-time Olympic gold medalist designed a purple purse in honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and is gearing up to unveil her new design for this year.

RELATED: New Mom Serena Williams Designed a Purple Purse in Honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

“When I designed it, that was kind of the mindset…for it to be enough for you to take just what you need, your essentials,” Williams told PEOPLE.

On Wednesday, Williams took part in unveiling Purple Purse’s first installment of six “Instagram-able” murals as part of a national campaign to educate the public on the issue of domestic abuse. The first work was done by local artist Isabel Castillo Guijarro in NYC, and five additional murals will be created by local female artists in Houston, Seattle, New Orleans, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Williams snapped a picture in front of the mural with Allstate’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Relations, Vicky Dinges, and is using her strong following on social media to help make the invisible weapon of financial abuse more visible to the world.

“By tapping into the growing popularity of free street art and turning it into a vehicle for social good, we hope these murals will bring financial abuse and domestic violence out of the shadows, and inspire a new network of allies for domestic violence survivors,” said Dinges.

As a mother to young Olympia, Williams expressed her strong belief in educating young boys about what is acceptable and not acceptable, and to know that they need to support the cause. “The key word for me is men,” says Williams, adding, “It’s a human rights issue. We should just want to be better humans.”

Kim Kardashian West Says Her Kids Don’t Know She’s Famous: They ‘Have No Clue’

She’s a household name all over the world — except in her very own home.

According to Kim Kardashian West, her three kids with husband Kanye West — daughters North, 5, Chicago, 5 months, and son Saint, 2½ — are pretty much in the dark about their mom and dad’s level of fame.

“It’s pretty intense, but at home I’m not known,” she recently told ITV’s This Morning. “My kids have no clue what’s going on. So I don’t really feel it — I spend most of my time at home.”

When it comes to her mom and sisters, however, 37-year-old Kardashian West said they do reflect on how much their lives have changed in recent years.

“We do talk about how crazy our life has been over the past decade,” she said. “And we’re so grateful. We’re so appreciative, and I mean, we’re still exactly the same.”

During the 10th anniversary special of Keeping Up with the Kardashians last year, Kardashian West and her family opened up about allowing their significant others and children to appear on camera, with Kourtney Kardashian, 39, noting that “the boundaries are always changing.”

“We’ll definitely go through moments where we’re like, ‘Cut the kids way back,’ ” she explained.

“It’s funny now that Mason is getting older,” said Khloé Kardashian, 33, of Kourtney and Scott Disick‘s 8-year-old son. “He knows. He doesn’t watch it, but I’ve heard him talk to his friends and say, ‘I’m on a TV show called Keeping Up with the Kardashians.’ I’m like, how does he know that?!”

“Mason calls the filmers,” said Kourtney. “He used to be like, ‘Are the filmers coming? I want to show them my Legos that I’m building.’ Now he’s in a phase where he’s like, ‘I don’t like when the filmers are over.’ ”

For her part, Kardashian West said appearing on KUWTK is “such a personal choice.”

“You can fall in love with someone, and it’s not their job to be on our show,” she said. “Kanye respects what I do and sometimes he’s on, if he happens to be there, or will let us film if we’re at a concert. At first we were like, ‘Our kids will never be on, my daughter is not going to be on.’ But she’s always around me and she’s so cute, so I just want people to see a little bit. It’s never a story revolving them or about them or anything too personal. We know that we signed up for this, but our kids did not.”
