Jeremy Scott RTW Spring 2020

Is the world ready for a big-hair, heavy metal fashion revival? Why not? Van Halen front man David Lee Roth, Jem and the Holograms and the Misfits were the muses for Jeremy Scott’s spring 2020 collection, an acid-hued, teased-hair riff on the Eighties that conjured an intergalactic sci-fi rock-‘n’-roll fantasy (and a few prom dresses past). Much of the collection had a do-it-yourself spirit — by design. Leggings made out of neon-hued lace thong panties? Check. Acid-washed denim embellished with metallic patches? And how. “I just wanted to play,” said Scott, who has a singular ability to inspire fun in fashion that could be translated from the runway to a DIY mentality just as easily, mixing Western leather fringe skirts and zebra-patterned leggings, Spandex shorts and tail coats, green cheetah minidresses with crinkly tinfoil biker jackets, and oversize tropical print tailoring with surfing mummy print Ts. But there was some serious craftsmanship here, too. That trapunto tubular-quilted minidress was far out. Poufed-and-ruched electric floral bloom dresses looked sugary sweet, especially with Jem’s teased-out neon wigs. And the pièces de résistance were dresses and tops made of slinky multicolored chain mail scraps — with an assist from Los Angeles’ rock-‘n’-roll jeweler Michael Schmidt — for

Scary Chic: Jeremy Scott Shows Monster Moschino Collection at Universal Studios Hollywood

In the era of fashion-as-entertainment, it’s amazing it took this long for a designer to stage a full-fledged runway extravaganza at an actual Hollywood studio.
Jeremy Scott did just that Friday night in Los Angeles, bringing a monster of a Moschino Resort collection to Universal Studios’ eerily blissful suburban Americana stand-in used for “Leave it To Beaver,” “The Munsters” and “Desperate Housewives.”
It was the culmination of a lifelong dream for the designer, who has ambitions to make a film of his own one day a la Tom Ford, and remembered the first time he visited Universal Studios from Kansas City at age 13 in typical aw-shucks fashion: “We stayed at the Sheraton. I was with my family, and I told the other people in the hot tub I was going to be a famous star one day…I didn’t really think I was going to be a fashion star.”
The show was scripted from the moment guests entered the gate of the studio, hallowed ground for Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg – and for Hollywood’s most prolific costume designer, Edith Head. With a short video of Scott as tour guide, guests took the backlot tour trams, rolling past sets for “Psycho” and “Jaws” and

Chief Merchant Scott Norris Exits Men’s Wearhouse

The changes have begun at Tailored Brands.
The California-based men’s wear retailer has parted ways with Scott Norris, the long-time chief merchant for its flagship Men’s Wearhouse division, WWD has learned.
Norris, who had been with the company since the mid-1990s, was named brand president of Men’s Wearhouse and Moores in 2014. He started his career as a buyer for Macy’s in 1991 and joined The Men’s Wearhouse as executive vice president and general merchandise manager in 1996, according to his LinkedIn profile.
“After 22 incredible years and countless contributions to The Men’s Wearhouse, Scott Norris has decided to leave the company to try something new,” a company spokesperson confirmed. “We wish him every success in his next chapter.”
Norris could not be reached for comment.
Last fall, Tailored Brands brought Carrie Ask on board as president of the Men’s Wearhouse and Moores brands. Norris, who had held that position since 2014, was named chief merchant.
At the end of March, the company elevated Dinesh Lathi, the former executive chairman, to chief executive officer, succeeding Doug Ewert, who had retired from the top post at the end of September 2018.
Lathi has been highly critical of the company’s past strategies, saying the retailer has underinvested in its

The Ken Scott Brand Makes a Comeback With Resort Capsule

MILAN — Ken Scott’s joyful and creative aesthetic is making a comeback.
The Ken Scott Foundation established in 1989 by the Indiana-born designer, who died in 1991 and became popular in the Sixties and Seventies with his colorful prints, has teamed with Milan-based Daniele Ghiselli Showroom to unveil a women’s resort 2019 capsule collection.
In particular, a design team of young fashion talents went through the designer’s archives in Milan to find the prints, which they used to pepper a range of contemporary designs infused with urban, street influences.
“The Ken Scott Foundation’s archives, which are completely catalogued and digitized, count 6,000 different prints and about one-third of them are unseen,” said Ghiselli, founder and chief executive officer of the namesake showroom. “He is identified and recognized for his floral patterns, but he actually developed so many themes, including sports, boats, bicycles, cars and food, just to cite a few. His prints look so modern and I think this is just the perfect moment, considering the current trends, to bring them back.”

Scott Disick and Sofia Richie Break Up: He ‘Thinks She Might Change Her Mind,’ Says Source

Scott Disick and Sofia Richie are over, PEOPLE confirms.

According to a source, Richie, 19, ended the relationship with Disick, 35.

“Sofia broke up with Scott,” the insider tells PEOPLE, adding that Disick’s “old issues” contributed to the split.

“When Scott drinks, he is a sloppy mess and fools around,” the source says.

As for how Disick is dealing with the break up, “Scott seems fine,” the insider tells PEOPLE. “He even thinks she might change her mind. He isn’t really taking it seriously.”

The news comes amid heightened speculation about their relationship status after Disick was spotted looking flirty with a mystery woman at Kanye West‘s Ye listening party in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on Thursday night. Disick reportedly told guests that he and Richie were no longer together, according to TMZ.

Richie and Disick — who shares three kids with ex Kourtney Kardashian — first sparked romance speculation in May after they were pictured cuddling up aboard a yacht in the south of France during the Cannes Film Festival. At the time, Richie — who previously dated Justin Bieber — adamantly denied anything romantic was going on, tweeting that the two were “just homies.”

Months later, the two had become “inseparable,” a source told PEOPLE in mid-September. They confirmed their romance shortly afterwards with friends in Miami, capping off the trip with a few PDA-packed days in Mexico.

In the months that followed, the couple spent much of their time traveling together, enjoying a romantic Italian getaway and another trip to Mexico. They also spent time together stateside and were regularly spotted in Los Angeles and New York City.

While a source previously told PEOPLE that Richie’s famous father Lionel wasn’t too pleased about the relationship — “Lionel knows Scott’s playboy ways, and he doesn’t want to see his daughter get hurt,” the insider said — the model had insisted that her dad was on board.

“He’s good — he’s been very nice,” she told E! News at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Patron of the Artists Awards in Beverly Hills in November.

“He’s been very cool,”  she added. “He’s very supportive, whatever that means,” she added as Lionel, 68, jokingly pointed a gun-shaped hand gesture at his head.

“I am into her business, and she’s trying to keep me out of her business,” he said.

Throughout their relationship, Disick and Richie’s went through ups and downs. A source told PEOPLE in early November that it was “starting to fizzle.”

“They’re starting to argue more, and it’s bothering Sofia,” said the source. “She thought he would be more serious about their relationship and is finding herself to be more frustrated with him as time goes on. Everything everyone has been telling her to look out for, she’s now starting to see for herself. It’s really upsetting for her, but she is trying to work through it.”

But just weeks later, another source told PEOPLE the two were “very serious” and that Richie has been a positive influence on Disick, who is known for his late nights out and has openly struggled with alcohol abuse.

“She’s been great for him,” the source said. “She’s made a big impact on his life and hasn’t partied at all since they met.”

“His friends adore her and nobody notices the age difference,” added the source. “She is very mature, she grew up in Hollywood and has always been in older situations. They seem really happy.”

Meet Stormi! Travis Scott Introduces His Daughter with Kylie Jenner to Family in Texas

Howdy, Stormi!

Travis Scott took his 9-week-old daughter with Kylie Jenner on her first big trip to his home state of Texas, introducing his family to the adorable new addition.

Scott’s brother, Joshua, shared a sweet shot on Friday with Stormi cradled in his arms. “So happy to finally hold my beautiful Stormi,” he wrote in the caption.

The baby, donning a onesie with cherries adorning it, gazed at the camera as her uncle smiled down at her.

The family appeared to go all out for the gathering, even getting two storm cloud flower arrangements — complete with raindrops made of Swarovski crystals — that TMZ reports the 25-year-old rapper bought for $ 7,145.

Jenner and Scott, who have been dating since April 2017, welcomed their first child on Feb. 1 and announced the birth in a statement on Twitter and Instagram, as well as a video, titled “To Our Daughter,” shared on YouTube.

Although the stars are not yet contemplating getting engaged — “It’s not anything that Kylie seems to be focused on,” an insider previously told PEOPLE — they have been happily co-parenting, including taking a recent walk with Stormi bundled up in her stroller and spending Easter together as a family.

They’re also opting to keep separate homes after welcoming Stormi.

“Despite being new parents, Kylie and Travis are still in a new relationship, too,” a source told PEOPLE. “Kylie is happy with their living situation. Travis is a great dad. When he wants to work, Kylie is supportive.”

Shortly after Stormi’s birth, a source told PEOPLE that Scott is “great” with his daughter and that the first-time mom, 20, had help from both her family and her boyfriend’s.

Jenner and Scott have been making couple time a priority since becoming parents, from stepping out on a lunch date with friends and family at Nobu Malibu in February — where Jenner showed off her luxe push present, a black Ferrari La Ferrari — to snuggling together on a boat as they arrived at a restaurant in Miami last month.

They also fit in two dates in one day on March 20, first stopping at Jamba Juice for matching Aloha Pineapple smoothies before a dinner at West Hollywood eatery Sweet Chick.

Travis Scott Plays with Daughter Stormi in Kylie Jenner’s Adorable Easter Snapchats

It looks like Stormi is already a daddy’s girl.

Kylie Jenner documented her 2-month-old daughter’s sweet bond with Travis Scott in a series of Snapchats from the family’s Easter party on Sunday.

Stormi couldn’t keep her eyes off her father as he held her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Another video showed the baby, born Feb. 1, cuddling up in the 25-year-old rapper’s arms.

In the first public glimpse of the family all together — a video shared by fan accounts — Scott held Stormi facing him while Jenner cozied up beside her beau and reached out to lovingly stroke their daughter’s head.

The Kardashian-Jenner’s Easter bash, complete with a 10-foot Easter bunny made of flowers, as well as a petting zoo featuring baby ducks and rabbits, comes shortly after Jenner’s ex-boyfriend Tyga denied that he was Stormi’s father.

“I’ve never said anything about someone else’s child or family insinuating my involvement; and will never do so,” Tyga tweeted on Tuesday.

“Please, stop spreading false stories and attacking people’s families. I have nothing to do with any of that. People should be able to live in peace,” said the hitmaker, who shares 5-year-old son King Cairo with ex-fiancée Blac Chyna. (Chyna is also mom to Jenner’s 16-month-old niece Dream Kardashian.)

The paternity claims first caused a frenzy in November 2017 when Tyga seemingly claimed to be the father of the child.

Jenner and Scott, however, have been enjoying their time both as new parents and a couple. They have been making sure to have plenty of date nights from stepping out on a lunch date with friends and family at Nobu Malibu in February — where Jenner showed off her luxe push present, a black Ferrari La Ferrari — to snuggling together on a boat as they arrived at a restaurant in Miami last month.

Most recently, they left their daughter at home to celebrate at a birthday dinner for Elizabeth Woods, the mom of Jenner’s BFF Jordyn Woods. In a photo from the event, Scott adorably wrapped his arms around his girlfriend.

The couple, who have been dating since April 2017, aren’t yet contemplating getting engaged, though, a source previously told PEOPLE.

“It’s not anything that Kylie seems to be focused on,” the insider explained.

However, the new mom has been sporting a symbol of their relationship — a diamond ring on her left ring finger with the initials “JW,” for Scott’s birth name, Jacques Webster.

Why Jeremy Scott Is Obsessed With the Eighties

For Jeremy Scott, the Eighties isn’t a cyclical trend to be recalled every few years. The decade shaped his colorful, flamboyant aesthetic beginning in elementary school, while breaking down gender and social mores in a way that he says is especially relevant today. For the designer, being “obsessed” means living the dream: “My fashion sketches as a kid were always of pop stars wearing the designers I was excited about. Lo and behold, that’s still where I am today.” Here, he talks about the decade that keeps on giving:
WWD: Who were your biggest Eighties idols?
Jeremy Scott: My icons were Lisa Bonet and what she was wearing on “The Cosby Show.” I still think she is the most beautiful girl in the world. Another one to whom I attribute a lot of my persona and how I wanted to look was Cyndi Lauper. The fact she was using thrift store clothes in such a brash, fun and unapologetic way really opened my mind at such a young age.
WWD: In what ways did the pop stars of the Eighties influence you?
J.S.: They mixed gender stereotypes in a way that was mainstream. You had Boy George looking like a woman, Annie Lennox dressing

Kourtney Kardashian Cracks Down on Scott Disick’s Behavior: ‘I Don’t Want the Kids to See Him Like This’

Kourtney Kardashian isn’t happy with Scott Disick‘s behavior on this season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

In a sneak peek at Sunday’s episode, Kourtney, 38, escapes Los Angeles for a California road trip with her sisters — but she can’t escape the ongoing drama with her ex.

In one scene, Khloé, 33, urges her sister to give Disick, 34, some “tough love.”

“I don’t want the kids to see him like this,” admits Kourtney, who shares three children with Disick: son Mason, 7, daughter Penelope, 5, and son Reign, 2.

This season, Kourtney and Disick — who were together for nine years before she officially ended things in 2015 — have been at odds over Disick’s partying, combined with his refusal to accept that Kourtney is moving on with her life.

“How is it that she’s allowed to throw up in bed and I have to go to rehab if I do something like that?” Disick — who has struggled with alcohol abuse — said in an earlier episode after his ex celebrated her birthday by taking a wild girls trip to Mexico in April.

“Kourtney having a good time makes me happy,” he said. “But of course, in the back of my heart and mind I get a little jealous, because I wish we could have had some of those times while we were together.”

In the two and a half years since their split, Disick has regularly been spotted cozying up to different women in Los Angeles, New York City and abroad — most recently with 19-year-old Sofia Richie, whom a source recently told PEOPLE is calling Disick her “boyfriend.”

Kourtney, meanwhile, is dating 24-year-old Younes Bendjima — and in the KUWTK 10th anniversary special (which aired last month but was taped in April), she indicated that she and Disick aren’t likely to reconcile.

“I guess we’re co-parenting our kids and just trying to get along,” she said. “He’s family. But I mean, we’re definitely psychotic.”

“The debauchery that’s gone on has definitely closed the door several billion times,” she added. “He for a time period, he can’t be consistent.”

“Here’s the thing,” Disick said. “Every time I become too good of a person, she stops loving me, because she fell in love with a person who was a little bit f—ed up. I treat you like royalty, you don’t say hello to me. I spit in your face, you’re like, ‘Hey babe.’ ”

Love Is in the Air! Scott Disick and Sofia Richie Kiss Aboard Private Plane

Scott Disick and Sofia Richie are taking their relationship to new heights.

Ever since they confirmed their romance last month, Sofia, 19, and Disick, 34, haven’t wasted any time packing on the PDA. On Sunday, the two were aboard a private plane together when a pal snapped a photo of the couple holding hands and kissing, which Richie added to her Instagram stories.

The on-camera make-out is just the latest in a string of photos they’ve shared of each other on social media.

Last week, the two heavily documented their trip to Punta Mita, Mexico, while a source told PEOPLE that Sofia has been referring to Disick as “her boyfriend” and “thinks he’s the best.”

The couple first sparked speculation in May after they were pictured cuddling up aboard a yacht in the south of France during the Cannes Film Festival. At the time, Sofia — who previously dated Justin Bieber — adamantly denied anything romantic was going on, tweeting that the two were “just homies.”

The relationship has raised a few eyebrows, and a source recently told PEOPLE that Sofia’s father Lionel Richie isn’t too pleased about it.

“He thinks Scott is the worst person she could ever see and that he raised her better than that,” said the source of the American Idol judge’s reaction. “He thinks she should have more respect for herself as a young woman. Lionel knows Scott’s playboy ways and he doesn’t want to see his daughter get hurt.”

The insider also said Sofia is “much more invested in the relationship” than Disick, who shares three kids with his ex Kourtney Kardashian, 38.

“Scott isn’t treating this as a long-term relationship whatsoever,” said the source. “He is just having fun. Sofia wanted commitment from him, so he committed to be her ‘boyfriend.’ “

“He still has Kourtney at the top of his mind all the time, and he is still texting and flirting with other girls,” the source added. “Sofia is very young and naive and doesn’t know what she’s in for. She feels like she’s in the in-crowd right now and loves that Scott has swagger and money and that he loves to travel and party.”

Laci Peterson’s Mom Speaks Out in Documentary: It Was ‘Very Hard to Even Begin to Suspect’ Scott as Killer

In a new ABC documentary about her pregnant daughter’s 2002 murder, Laci Peterson’s mother recalls her own mental anguish over the realization that Laci’s husband, Scott Peterson, might have been involved in her disappearance.

“It was very, very hard to even begin to suspect him, because in the back of my mind I kept thinking, what if he didn’t have anything to do with it?,” says Sharon Rocha in Truth and Lies: The Murder of Laci Peterson, which airs Thursday, September 14 (9 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET) on ABC. (An exclusive clip of the trailer is posted above.)

“I mean, it’s not like this is a total stranger that you might be suspecting,” she says. “This is somebody that’s been a member of your family for several years now, and it’s really, you know, the back and forth and the guilt about feeling this way, and how it may have an effect on the relationship with my daughter if I’m wrong.”

“That’s the last person you want to think had anything to do with the disappearance of your daughter — her husband,” says Rocha. “The person that was a member of your family, somebody that you loved and cared about, and thought he felt the same way about your daughter. And knowing how she felt about him.”

The eight-months pregnant Laci, 27, vanished from the couple’s Modesto, California, home on the morning of December 24, 2002. Her body and the fetus of the unborn son they had named Conner washed ashore in San Francisco Bay four months later.

• PEOPLE’s special edition True Crime Stories: 35 Real Cases That Inspired the Show Law & Order is on sale now.

The mystery and Scott’s headline-grabbing 2004 trial eventually exposed him as a killer with a mistress, Amber Frey. Frey’s emergence punctured Scott’s claim that his wife must have been taken and killed as she walked their dog while he was out that day on a solo fishing trip in the Bay.

Scott Seeking Retrial

The two-hour ABC special — which also includes new interviews with investigators and those who covered the case — arrives as Scott Peterson continues to appeal the guilty verdict and death sentence he received 12 years ago. He currently is serving his time at San Quentin prison.

In his latest request for a new trial, Scott’s current lawyers raise doubts about the defense mounted by his then-attorney, Mark Geragos, and allege that a juror who voted to convict him lied in order to be picked for the panel, reports The Modesto Bee.

In its 150-page response filed in court last month, according to the Bee, the California Attorney General’s Office counters that Peterson’s conviction resulted from “overwhelming evidence,” including:

“is expressed wanderlust and desire to to be responsibility-free, which he conveyed to his mistress as the birth of his son neared; buying a boat mere weeks before Laci’s appearance; ‘fishing’ with the wrong gear on Christmas Eve morning in inclement weather; surreptitious trips to the marina in various rented vehicles after Laci’s disappearance; lies to friends and family concerning his whereabouts; the sale of Laci’s car and inquiry into selling their home, including furnishings; subscribing to pornography channels while the search was ongoing; Laci’s and Conner’s bodies washing ashore not far from Peterson’s location on the bay; condition of the bodies correlat(ing) with the timing of Laci’s disappearance; and (Scott) Peterson’s disguised appearance and possession of survival gear and copious amounts of cash at the time of his arrest.”

Mom Recounts Last Memory of Laci

In the ABC documentary, Laci’s mother describes the last time she saw her.

“She I and I were sitting side-by-side and Scott was sitting on the floor, and we were watching TV and she said the baby was kicking, so I put my hand on her stomach, because I’d never felt him kick,” says Rocha.

“I still didn’t feel him kick even when she said that,” she says. “But she leaned over to me and she said, ‘Mom,’ she said ‘Scott doesn’t like to do this.’ She said, ‘I’ve asked him about, you know, feel my stomach when the baby kicks, and he never wants to touch my stomach.’”

“That really, really bothered me,” she says, “and that was the last time I saw her.”

The special also promises never-before-seen home video of Laci, excerpts from Scott’s pre-arrest interview with Diane Sawyer, and anchor Barbara Walters’ pre-conviction interview with Scott’s parents.

Truth and Lies: The Murder of Laci Peterson airs Thursday, September 14 (9 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET) on ABC.

New Bling? Kylie Jenner Spotted Wearing Diamond Necklace After Birthday Celebration with Travis Scott

Kylie Jenner‘s 20th birthday celebrations so far have included a surprise party (sexy ice sculpture and all), a lavish string orchestra and a klassic Kylie lingerie photo shoot — and it’s safe to say it’s probably not over yet.

On Thursday evening, the Life of Kylie star enjoyed a low-key family celebration at home before hitting a movie theater with her beau Travis Scott for a double date with sister Khloé Kardashian and her boyfriend Tristan Thompson. The crew were joined by a few others pals, including Jenner’s bestie Jordyn Woods.

But what fans were quick to point out was the fact that Jenner was sporting some new bling — a very sparkly new diamond necklace, which E! News reports was a birthday gift from her 25-year-old rapper boyfriend. (According to the outlet, the orchestra was also planned by Scott.)

FROM COINAGE: The Lavish Lifestyle of the Kardashian Kids

On Thursday, Jenner took to her website and app to reflect on her birthday by sharing a list of “moments that made the last year of my life so great.”

In addition to hitting a few milestones in her professional life — the creation of The Kylie Shop and her booming cosmetics company — she also commemorated going blonde for New York Fashion Week, her 2017 calendar shoot with Terry Richardson (something she’d been wanting to do “forever”) and her Barbie-themed Flaunt magazine shoot.

And of course, she also expanded her family — her dog family, that is. Her two Italian greyhounds, Norman and Bambi, had surprise babies!

“My babies had babies!” she gushed. “Can’t you handle how cute little Harlie and Rosie are?!”

Lipps, who has kept a stake in One Management, has been staffing up the digitally focused agency, which will represent models, celebrities and influencers and offer brand consulting and content development.
Describing the initiative as a hybrid company, Lipps said the talent list consists of 25 people. He also has been staffing up his own team, which will have office space in the Dream Hotel in Los Angeles. His new recruits include Anahid Krile, who spent the last 17 years as director of L.A. Models, and one of her former colleagues Monna Lee, who is now Krile’s second-in-command at Lipps L.A. Mike Eland, former director of scouting at Wilhelmina Models, is also new to the team. Steven Baillie is on board as creative director.
“If you look at the fashion business now as opposed to when I started One almost 16 years ago, it’s shifted in incredible ways. It’s really important to me to do something that is an agency for the future,” he said. “A lot of the talent agencies in L.A. like CAA do a lot

Kourtney Kardashian Continues Public Romance with Younes Bendjima amid Scott Disick PDA with Bella Thorne

Kourtney Kardashian isn’t letting her ex Scott Disick‘s recent PDA with Bella Thorne stop her from enjoying her vacation — she’s got her own budding romance to focus on.

On Wednesday, Kardashian was spotted leaving the Gotha nightclub in Cannes hand-in-hand with her beau Younes Bendjima, a 23-year-old model. Kardashian, 38, opted for a sparkly pink minidress with a plunging neckline and baby pink heels, paired with a high, swinging ponytail.

The outing certainly isn’t their first: Kardashian and Bendjima, who have been seeing each other for about a month, have spent several days together in the French Riviera, and a source close to the reality star recently told PEOPLE that Bendjima is “fun for Kourtney.”

“Younes is young, but very responsible,” said the source. “He doesn’t really party. He’s very sweet to Kourtney.”

Meanwhile, Kardashian’s ex Disick, 33, with whom she shares three children, is also in Cannes — where he’s been getting close to his latest fling, 19-year-old Thorne.

The two first sparked romance rumors last week when they stepped out for a dinner date in Los Angeles, and after jetting out of Los Angeles together, the two were spotted cuddling on Wednesday as they lounged on sun beds at a luxury private villa.

Of the PDA pics, one source told PEOPLE that Thorne “really likes the attention,” and another source said the two are “having fun together — partying and acting very flirty.”

“There’s definitely chemistry, and they both seem to love the attention,” said the second source. “It’s not like they’re hiding.”

However, Disick and Thorne appeared to party separately on Wednesday evening: Disick was seen at Baoli nightclub without Thorne, while Thorne was spotted leaving their villa, presumably heading to an event in a sparkly gown and tiara.

FROM PEN: Why Tarek and Christina El Moussa Faked It for the Cameras for 6 Months After Secret Split

Kardashian and Disick ended their nine-year relationship in July 2015. They’ve gone through ups and downs in their relationship ever since, though up until recently appeared to have been in a good place, spending plenty of time together as a family co-parenting their three kids.

Earlier this month a source told PEOPLE that Disick wasn’t taking well to his ex’s new relationship.

“Scott is a typical guy about it,” said the source. “He doesn’t like that she’s dating. For him, it’s fine to hang out with girls, but when Kourtney does, he pouts.”

Snapped Revisits Scott Peterson’s Murder Trial and Conviction: ‘There’s No Way That Scott Killed Her’

Did Scott Peterson — the man convicted of murdering his pregnant wife, Laci, and their unborn son, Conner, in 2002, before tossing both of their bodies into the San Francisco Bay — get a fair trial?

That’s the question Oxygen’s Snapped will pose when it returns for its 20th season on May 7.

Peterson was convicted of murder in 2004. He was sentenced to die the following March and remains on death row in California. (He appealed in 2012, effectively forestalling his execution for years, though prosecutors have challenged that.)

PEOPLE is debuting an exclusive teaser from the Snapped two-part special, which the network says will “analyze critical evidence” that “was never presented to the jury.”

The season premiere will also “bring forth a different perspective that could lead to a new trial and review Peterson’s twisted web of lies which led to the ultimate demise of his family,” Oxygen says.

• Want to keep up with the latest crime coverage? Click here to get breaking crime news, ongoing trial coverage and details of intriguing unsolved cases in the True Crime Newsletter.

Snapped’s premiere, “Snapped Notorious: Scott Peterson,” will include interviews with a former police detective on the case, two jurors from Peterson’s trial and his ex-girlfriend, Amber Frey — whose affair with Peterson was a turning point at his trial.

Investigators previously detailed their work for PEOPLE, soon after Peterson’s sentencing, saying then, “ will never confess. That will never happen. He would never admit it.”

The matter of Peterson’s guilt is settled in the eyes of the law — and for many observers — but apparently isn’t settled for some of those who appear in the premiere.

As one person asserts in the exclusive clip, “There’s no way that Scott killed her.”

Prosecutors have continually argued the opposite. Responding to Peterson’s appeal in 2015, they reportedly said he was “truly among the worst of the worst.”

Laci’s mother had similar thoughts when she spoke to the Modesto Bee earlier this month: “There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that justice was served. Scott Peterson is guilty.”

Snapped‘s Scott Peterson special will air beginning May 7 (6 p.m. ET) on Oxygen.

Scott Disick Gets Real About His Relationship With Kourtney Kardashian

We all know Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick have faced their fair share of ups and downs. The pair, who were together for nine years, officially ended their romantic relationship in 2015, but continue to co-parent their three children, Mason, Penelope and Reign.

Although rumors have been flying recently claiming they’re giving their love another shot, that doesn’t appear to be the case in this clip from the upcoming episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” The Huffington Post is exclusively debuting the nearly 2-minute clip, which shows Disick talking with Kourtney’s sisters Kim and Khloe about their situation.

“I’m still turned on by her, if that’s what you’re asking,” Disick tells a curious Khloe before admitting he’s not dating anyone else. “I mean, I technically could I guess, but I just don’t feel comfortable.”

Kim chimes in to ask whether all the drama has caused Disick to give up on Kourtney.

“No, I mean, she’s a tough girl. It’s tough sometimes,” he admits, continuing, “I feel like I would never be over her. She’s the love of my life, but I try to do everything to be there for her and there’s literally no appreciation for anything, ever.”

Their breakup was reportedly triggered by Disick’s substance abuse issues ― he reentered rehab right before and a couple months after their separation ― in addition to rumors that the he was unfaithful to Kourtney. Still, Disick says in the clip that he’s aware his personal problems have caused a rift between them, but will do whatever he can to prove to Kourtney that they’re meant to be together.

“I hope that one day she understands I would never want to be with anyone but her,” he says in a taped confessional.

Coretta Scott King Was ‘Architect’ of Husband Martin Luther King Jr.’s Legacy, Daughter Says

Coretta Scott King has long been known as the powerful force behind one of the nation’s greatest civil rights icons, her husband Martin Luther King Jr. But she has also cemented herself as a legendary activist in her own right.

“What we know of my father really came from her resilience, her determination, her faith, her courage,” Bernice King, the youngest daughter of Martin and Coretta, told ABC NewsRobin Roberts in an interview that aired Monday on Good Morning America.

“She used to say that this family is called. We grew up hearing that a lot,” she added, calling her mother the “architect of this King legacy.”

Scott King died of ovarian cancer in 2006 — nearly four decades after King Jr. was assassinated in 1968. Now, Scott King’s experiences and legacy are chronicled in a posthumous memoir called My Life, My Love, My Legacythe book is based on hours of never-before-published interviews.

“I believe Martin was chosen. I believe I was chosen. And I say to the kids, ‘this family was chosen as well,’ ” Scott King said in the memoir penned by journalist Barbara Reynolds.

Scott King stood alongside her husband during the civil rights movement, but suggested in one of the unheard interviews that she would not live in his shadow.

“I said, ‘Well you know, I love being your wife and the mother of your children. But if that was all that I did, I would go crazy,’ ” she said when recalling a conversation with a friend.

And her strides were not lost on King Jr. who at one point declared: “A wife can either make or break a husband. My wife was always stronger than I was through the struggle. In the darkest moments, she always brought a light of hope.”

The couple’s daughter, Bernice, recalled a 1956 incident in which their home was bombed while King Jr. was away.

“Mother was the one who first experienced the manifestation of a threat,” she said. “She had to first come to a resolve that ‘I’m willing to risk the loss of my own life before even him.’ ”

Bernice said she hopes that those who read her mother’s memoir will come to know that “Martin didn’t make Coretta Scott King. When they met she was prepared.”

“I honestly believe, in a different kid of way, she did greater things. Probably because she lived longer,” Bernice told Roberts of her mother. “Also because she had the insight to see who he really was, and articulate it in a way that an entire world could embrace regardless of your background.”

My Life, My Love, My Legacy (Henry Holt and Co.) will hit bookstores across the nation and online on Jan. 17.

Jeremy Scott Meets Fans during Milan Fashion Week

“What should I ask him?” and “my hands are shaking” were only two of the reactions overheard at the So-Milano concept store on Sunday night at a meet-and-greet  for shoppers with designer Jeremy Scott. The Scott-effect ranged from selfies and Instagram videos to more traditional proofs of affection, such as little chats with the designer and even hugs.
“The reaction has been phenomenal, everyone has been so supportive,” said Scott, who had shown his men’s and women’s pre-fall collections a day earlier.
Welcomed more as a rock star than a designer, Scott greeted his fans one by one during the cocktail at the venue, which showcased his namesake collection for spring 2017. Pin-up legs printed over shirts and pants, Barbie-pink dresses, fluo-colored accessories and pumps bearing his first name on the side were among some of the pieces presented in So-Milano’s signature spherical cases.
“Why here? It’s the newest, hottest store in Milan, so what better place to be and share my work with the people that love it so much?” explained the designer.

The Aesthetic Life of Cyril Scott

The Aesthetic Life of Cyril Scott

Prolific and personable, innovative and contentious, Cyril Scott (1879 – 1970) was considered to be one of the most promising young talents in modern British music at the turn of the twentieth century. He was a member of the ‘Frankfurt Group’ (together with Percy Grainger, Norman O’Neill, Roger Quilter and Balfour Gardiner), his music was performed by some of the leading conductors of the time in Britain and on the Continent, and his friends included highly influential figures in European literature, art and politics. Apart from his music, Scott was the author of many books on alternative medicine, psychology, Occultism, Theosophy and comparative religion. He also wrote fiction, autobiography, and poetry. Scott embodied a unique time in a particularly unique way. His aesthetic ideas informed both his professional creative practice and his manner of living. He was not merely a composer, but an artist in the broadest possible sense of the term. This book provides the first comprehensive account of Scott’s life and influences as well as an outline and contextualization of his aesthetic thinking. It traces his changing conception of the function of art and the role of the artist from his formative exposure to Symbolism through his friendship with the German poet Stefan George, to his exploration of Western and Eastern esoteric traditions, showing how the prevailing cross-pollination of ideas allowed him to develop a fully integrated rationale for his art and life. The story of Scott’s development guides the reader through some of the most fascinating intellectual discourses of late-nineteenth and early-twentieth-century Europe. Sarah Collins’ current research focuses on British music aesthetics and criticism in the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries. She has a particular interest in the interaction between turn-of-the-century conceptions of the function of criticism, theories of critical intuition and questions of moral philosophy. She lectured at the Uni.

Kourtney Kardashian And Scott Disick Don’t Know How To Quit Each Other

Kris Jenner has clearly been working overtime.

It looks like Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick are back together after more than a year apart, E! News reports.

Over the past few months, the two have tested the boundaries of amicable separation, jetting off to Mexico in November and grabbing lunch in public together more times than Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck.

“They are back together and giving their relationship a try again,” a source told the media outlet. “Scott’s mellowed out a lot and hasn’t been partying.”

According to the same E! source, their children were the reason for reconciling because they “both want to make it work for them and their kids.”

The longtime couple split back in July 2015 after nine years together. Kardashian and Disick had been dating since 2006 and share three children, Mason, 6, Penelope, 4 and Reign, who will turn 2 in December.

The breakup was reportedly triggered by Disick’s long-simmering substance abuse issues ― he reentered rehab right before and a couple months after their separation ― and rumors that the reality star was unfaithful to Kardashian.

Despite these hurdles, Disick has maintained a regular presence on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” He accompanied the family on a trip to Vail earlier this year and can often be seen playing the doting dad on the family’s reality show.

“The idea of having my family together is amazing, but it’s not the way things ended up. They may end up there. I’m not sure,” Kourtney told Cosmopolitan in October. “To me, it’s in God’s hands. If it’s meant to be, then things will line up.”

The two are reportedly now living together in the family’s home, despite Disick purchasing his own bachelor abode in the same neighborhood this past January.

And all was right in Calabasas.

Jeremy Scott Creates a Collector’s Edition Barbie for Moschino

It’s official: Barbie now has a better wardrobe than us!

Moschino creative director Jeremy Scott has long considered Barbie a muse. She’s influenced him so much that the designer even dedicated his entire spring 2015 Moschino collection to Barbie. Talk about bubble-gum-pink everything—he went so far as to send a model down the runway on roller skates doing her best Roller Barbie. And now, his love for the flaxen-haired icon has gone a step further. Welcome, the Moschino Barbie:

“The thing I love most about Barbie, is that she is the ultimate muse, she’s worn every style and design imaginable and at the same time she’s had every possible profession you can dream of,” said Scott in a statement. “I wanted to bring all of the Moschino elements to Barbie, as I had done the reverse by bringing all of the Barbie elements to Moschino for the spring-summer 2015 collection.”

A Barbie look from the Moschino spring 2015 collection.

As such, Barbie is totally tricked out in Moschino gear. She’s wearing a slogan T-shirt, logo trimmed mesh knits, and a quilted leather bomber jacket with a matching pencil skirt. And let’s talk about the accessories! She’s wearing a leather cap, mini quilted cross body bag and—naturally, a Moschino shopping bag. Wait, we’re not done. She’s also donning mismatched earrings, several layered necklaces, sunglasses, a leather motorcycle bag, a backpack, and the unmistakable a logo chain belt. Hello, Barbie, can we read your closet?

The collector’s edition Moschino Barbie doll will be available for $ 150, exclusively at Net-a-Porter, starting on November 9. It will be part of a larger capsule collection, featuring real-life-human-size clothing and accessories.

Jeremy Scott Teams With Melissa on Runway Show Shoes

MAN MADE: If the music at Jeremy Scott’s forthcoming runway show in New York comes blaring from the speakers singing, “Life in plastic, it’s fantastic” — the infamous lyrics from Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” — it wouldn’t be without good reason. That’s because at Scott’s Sept. 14 show, models’ feet will be bound in plastic shoes — designed in collaboration between Scott and Brazilian plastic footwear brand Melissa.
Scott — who will make his fashion week appearance straight off a noted involvement with MTV’s Video Music Awards — designed two Melissa-produced shoes for his spring show. Further information regarding their make, appearance and retail availability could not be learned.
In teaming with Melissa, Scott joins the Brazilian brand’s past collaborators including Vivienne Westwood and Karl Lagerfeld.

Bikini’d Kourtney Kardashian Enjoys The Beach While Scott Disick Vacations In Mexico

Kourtney Kardashian soaked up the sun in St Barts while her ex Scott Disick was thousands of miles away in Mexico.

Kardashian was photographed in a color-block bikini walking along the beach with children Mason and Penelope and sister Kendall Jenner Thursday, enjoying the last days of her family vacation.

Meanwhile, Disick was over 2,000 miles away at Joe Francis’ Casa Aramara in Punta Mita, Mexico. He shared a photo on Instagram Thursday from a hot tub.

Kardashian and Disick split in July after nine years and three children together. Disick’s “partying” was apparently part of the issue.

Kris Jenner opened up about the breakup in Haute Living, saying: “[Kourtney’s] kind of my hero right now — she makes good decisions. She always puts her children first and is accepting, loving, and dedicated to her family — she doesn’t get easily ruffled. This situation has made me realize how strong she is.”

Jeremy Scott on Madonna’s Coachella Wardrobe

GREAT SCOTT: Jeremy Scott was one of the few who knew that Madonna would be Drake’s surprise guest at Sunday’s Coachella finale because he had worked out the singer’s Moschino look — her second one in a week after “The Tonight Show” — ahead of time with stylist Arianne Phillips. “I was watching from the front with Katy Perry and Rihanna and even they didn’t know, to give you an idea of how insider it was,” he said of Madge’s appearance. “It made me really happy that she gave me such a great homage, with her dancers wearing pieces from my Adidas collection as well,” said Scott, who stayed an extra day in the desert. “The pull of Coachella was too strong to stay away,” he said, though he’s “more selective” about which performances he goes to nowadays. “I went to see Bjork like 12 years ago, so I’ve definitely seen the festival in all its incarnations, and it only seems to get bigger and better.” Now that he’s conquered the Super Bowl and Coachella, the Met Ball is the next marquee event on Scott’s list, though he’s staying mum on who his date — or dates — will be.

Brandon Scott Wolf Creates Dating Website For Himself Only

Finding love online can be difficult when you are just one of millions actively seeking a partner.

So Brandon Scott Wolf has found a way to increase the odds in his favor. He’s created DateBrandonScott Wolf, a dating site where he is the only dating option.

The website claims to be “America’s No. 1 Online Dating Site for Brandon Scott Wolf.”

Women interested in dating the 25-year-old Brooklyn-based bartender and comedian simply need to fill out a profile and write an essay between 500 and 1,000 words about “an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family.”

In return, Wolf promises to be the perfect partner for a woman seeking a serious relationship, which he defines as “being able to lay on a couch together while wearing pajamas and watching ‘Bob’s Burgers’ (LOL).”

So far, Wolf has received more than 45 applications, including one all the way from India, reports.

Wolf is cautiously optimistic he might find lasting love from one of the applicants.

“Half seem real, a quarter seem VERY real,” he told Elite Daily.

Since Wolf is a known comedian who contributes jokes to the “Weekend Update” segment on “Saturday Night Live,” you’re forgiven if you’re not sure he’s serious.

Neither is he.

“People have asked me, ‘Are you serious? Is this a joke?’ And my only response is, ‘I’m not even sure,'” Wolf told Mashable. “There’s a part of me that’s hoping someone is going to get this 100 percent, and won’t catfish me, and then I’ll ask them out on a date.”

Sundance So Far: Adam Scott & Jason Schwartzman’s Fake Penises, Ethan Hawke’s Latest Dad & ‘The Witch’

Last time on Sundance So Far, we discussed “The Bronze” and other movies that opened the festival. Temperatures dropped to 18 degrees at sundown in Park City, Utah, on Day 2 of Sundance. Parkas were out and crowds were thick at some of the most anticipated films of the opening weekend. The press screening for “Z for Zachariah,” filled up two hours before the film began, and Jason Segel stunned audiences as David Foster Wallace at the world premiere of “The End of the Tour.” We’ll write about both of those films shortly, but here are the other titles HuffPost Entertainment editor Matthew Jacobs and Los Angeles senior editor Sasha Bronner caught on Friday:

“Stockholm, Pennsylvania”
Written and directed by Nikole Beckwith
Starring Saoirse Ronan, Jason Isaacs and Cynthia Nixon

There is more than initially meets the eye in the post-kidnapping drama about a young woman, played by Saoirse Ronan (“The Grand Budapest Hotel”), who is returned to her home after being held captive in a basement for the majority of her life.

Taken from a park when she was 4 years old raised by her kidnapper (played by Jason Isaacs), the extent of what her character knows about the world can be held in the palm of her hand.

The film’s intentional use of claustrophobia does the trick. When Ronan sticks her head out of her bedroom window and, we presume, feels rain for the first time, you too feel her wonder and her innocence.

But this is not an innocent film. Cynthia Nixon, who plays Ronan’s mother, is understandably emotional when her daughter returns home and does her very best to help the family acclimate to their suddenly different circumstances (think “trust falls”). But the people of the town stare. And they discover that their missing daughter doesn’t know when her real birthday is, doesn’t remember them at all and actually thinks that her name is Leia — “named after a Princess,” she tells her parents on her first afternoon home.

The psychological phenomenon Stockholm syndrome describes the common scenario of a captive feeling protective, loving and sympathetic to their captor. Ronan’s character visits the man who took her only once in jail and after telling him that she doesn’t know how to do anything in the real world, she also says she doesn’t know what the worst thing is that’s happened to her — spending her life with him, or spending the rest of it without him.

When she asks if he regrets it, he answers that it takes the same amount of effort to run in place or to run a mile, and he would rather see the mile.

A startling twist (which, of course, we will not ruin for you) turns everything inside out. Filmmaker Nikole Beckwith presents a quiet and powerful debut feature that succeeds in redefining what captivity means as well as tilting the kaleidoscope of identity and love ninety degrees on its side.

Stay tuned: Saoirse Ronan gets more screen time at the festival — she also stars in the 1950s drama “Brooklyn,” written by Nick Hornby, as an Irish-American immigrant attempting to choose between love and her place in the world. — SB

“The Overnight”
Written and directed by Patrick Brice
Starring Taylor Schilling, Adam Scott, Jason Schwartzman and Judith Godrèche

Two delights of Friday’s Sundance came in Patrick Brice’s very funny “The Overnight.” First, Adam Scott and Taylor Schilling, playing a couple looking for friends after moving to Los Angeles, smoke weed with another couple (Jason Schwartzman and Judith Godrèche) who invite them over for what appears to be an innocent playdate for their children. They are a riot as bumbling stoners who conjure up a candidness foreign to their lives as young parents during what turns out to be a quite propulsive gathering. Later, Scott and Schwartzman prance around naked for a solid chunk of the film, for reasons I’d rather you discover on your own. Just know that both actors wear prosthetics, and the size of the genitals on display is an uproarious part of the plot.

“The Overnight” is just bawdy enough to be something of a sex comedy, but it’s nothing if not a tactful tale of a rowdy, confused couple befriending the innocent newcomers from their neighborhood park. The playdate — billed as a simple pizza night at their palatial home — turns into an all-night affair with increasingly bizarre results. There’s a slight dip in the film’s energy toward the end as the dramatic underpinnings of the foursome’s lives unfold, but it doesn’t take away from the sharp performances and clever writing this film boasts. Now where should we mail our smoke-out invitation for Scott and Schilling? — MJ

“The Witch”
Written and directed by Robert Eggers
Starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Kate Dickie, Ralph Ineson, Harvey Scrimshaw, Lucas Dawson and Ellie Grainger

the witch

Today’s horror landscape is bleak. The reliance on gratuitous violence and uninventive scare tactics is more of a nightmare than any of the stories being depicted onscreen. Yet every year a few movies break through the gore to channel the worldly panic that horror is meant to showcase. This year, one of those is “The Witch,” a movie that became one of Day 2’s buzziest Sundance titles. (To wit: A24 is nearing a deal to distribute “The Witch.”)

Set in 1630 New England, “The Witch” is a stylish chiller about a devoutly Christian family whose infant vanishes. Their crops fail and they begin accusing one another of occultism — all while a witch creeps through the depths of the woods that surround their home. The movie seems talky at first, but let these irascible colonials work through their muddy family dynamics, from the mother’s grief-stricken instability to the father’s sympathy for her daughter after his wife accuses her of witchcraft. This is eerie filmmaking at its finest, which is all the more remarkable considering Robert Eggers is a first-time director. By the time their paranoia reaches peak levels, this family of six can barely stomach the sight of one another, so wracked with the panic that haunts their countenance. As if Mark Korven’s strings-heavy score weren’t enough eerie enough, know that the film is pieced together using actual journals (including specific conversations) that chronicled the witchcraft that took place in the 17th century. — MJ

“Ten Thousand Saints”
Written and drected by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini
Starring Ethan Hawke, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Emile Hirsch and Emily Mortimer

ten thousand

Who doesn’t want to see Ethan Hawke as a burner, weed-selling, dysfunctional father with a heart of gold? Apparently no one, because the premiere of his new film “Ten Thousand Saints” was sold out Friday evening at the Sundance Film Festival. Hawke stars alongside Emily Mortimer, Hailee Steinfeld, Emile Hirsch and
Asa Butterfield, and is the center of an off-kilter family dealing with an actual tragedy and also the general tragedy of growing up.

Set in the 1980s, first in Vermont and then in the East Village in New York City, the film is dripping with teen angst, drugs and rock and roll. Actually, teen angst, weed, cocaine, mushrooms, plenty of huffing and punk rock, to be exact. There are Hare Krishnas, tattoos, protests in New York City and a genre of the hardcore punk scene called “straight edge” where abstinence and sobriety are encouraged.

The teen stars of the film are its strength, carrying their angst like a heavy duffle bag thrown in the corner of every room they enter. But there is a lot packed into the story and there may just be too many protagonists involved for many viewers’ tastes. We probably aren’t supposed to, but in some ways end up rooting the most for Hawke in all his flawed attempts at being a decent father.

Filmmaking duo Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini work as a team writing, directing and editing and are best known for “American Splendor” (2003), “The Nanny Diaries” (2007) and “Cinema Verite” (2011). The two were nominated for an Academy Award in 2003 for their writing of “American Splendor.”

The writing in “Ten Thousand Saints” gives Hawke room to make audiences laugh with his idea of good parenting and one of the most awkward father-son talks we have seen. In a surprisingly poignant moment, he reveals to his son (played by Butterfield) one of his observations about the world and about family: “Women make their decisions and men are just trying not to be men. The whole system needs looking over.”

Young Millenials will flock to the film if they are looking for an indie, hipster coming of age story with plenty of bad decisions and always, of course, the promise of love. — SB

Ridley Scott Sends His ‘Martian’ Script Into Space

NASA’s Orion spacecraft was designed to shuttle astronauts to Mars some day. When it made its first successful test flight on Dec. 5 from Florida’s Cape Canaveral, the 11-foot-long capsule didn’t blast anyone to the red planet, but it did keep with the theme, completing two orbits of Earth while carrying the front page of the script for “The Martian.”

Why Actress Darby Stanchfield Refuses To Hug ‘Scandal’ Co-Star Scott Foley

Actress Darby Stanchfield may be the only woman in the world to ever turn down a hug from Scott Foley.

After Foley revealed Stanchfield’s staunch stance on hugs in a HuffPost Live interview last month, Stanchfield stopped by the studio to set the record straight.

As a new cast member on season two of the hit ABC show, Foley was a little too reserved for Stanchfield. While the rest of the actors behaved like rowdy “14-year-olds at summer camp” during each table read, Foley kept his cool.

“We’re all like pounding on the tables and high-fiving each other and hugging each other and laughing and crying through the table reads and such,” she said. “And he had this energy, and Portia de Rossi [who guest stars this season] went through it too, of like, ‘Okay, they seem cool, but is this real?’”

After picking up on Foley’s calm demeanor, Stanchfield opted for a handshake on their their first meeting, and the formal greeting just stuck.

“I shook his hand for the first time I met him, and it just kind of felt like this joke — like this natural thing of, like, we’re on handshake terms,” she said. “It felt like a thing of respect at the beginning, then it just became this joke of, like, ‘Dude, I don’t hug you.’”

Ridley Scott Disses the Jews

Everyone’s talking about Scott’s new epic Exodus and how the leads are all white and that this is another sign of film racism when it comes to Biblical story-telling.

But nobody’s noticed the glaring casting slap in the face to world Jewry and Jewish history: Scott has cast Christian Bale as Moses. Christian Bale! Could it be any more offensive?

Where was his head at? What about all the amazing Jewish actors on screen today? What about Jonah Hill? Who says Moses had to be svelte? And what about Jesse Eisenberg? A guy who could invent Facebook with its crazy rules surely could come up with a couple of Tablets of the Law and some plagues.

And Shia LaBeouf? Transformers are way scarier than a mess of chariots. Then there’s Jake Gyllenhaal, Adrien Brody, Andrew Garfield, Mila Kunis… The list is long and distinguished.

My point is, the world expected more from Ridley Scott’s Moses than an actor with great abs.

Well, maybe not.

The Spoken Word: Recollections of Dryden History, The Early Years (NASA SP-2003-4530) – Scott Crossfield Interview, Muroc, NACA Research, X-1 Project

The Spoken Word: Recollections of Dryden History, The Early Years (NASA SP-2003-4530) – Scott Crossfield Interview, Muroc, NACA Research, X-1 Project

Since the founding of the Dryden Flight Research Center History Office in 1996, its staff has conducted nearly a hundred interviews with retired and serving employees. Their recollections represent a unique resource in understanding the development of aerospace technology in the second half of the 20th century. Their personal experiences, insights, and opinions allow the reader to gain an understanding into what it was actually like to have been involved with some of the milestone events in aerospace history. These interviews have been edited and assembled into this monograph, so that a wider audience can also share in their experiences. This study covers the early years of what eventually became the Dryden Flight Research Center. It spans the period between the arrival of Walter Williams and the first group of NACA engineers at Muroc in 1946, and ends with the establishment of NASA in 1958. This timeframe encompasses the breaking of the sound barrier, the pivotal inertial coupling research, the first use of computer simulations, the transformation of the NACA facility from a pair of old hangars into a state-of-the-art research center, and the dawn of the space age. These events took place against the background of the end of World War II, the start of the Cold War, and the twin technological revolutions of jet propulsion and supersonic flight. They are told by the people who participated in these events, in their own words. The foundations of the Dryden Flight Research Center date back more than a half century, to a time when aviation faced revolutionary technical changes. When the first NACA contingent arrived in September 1946, they found the Muroc Army Air Field to be an isolated and barren outpost. The post-war demobilization had left the hastily constructed base facilities in a poor state of repair. Palmdale and Lancaster in the late 1940s were rough desert towns lacking many of the conveniences to which the new arrivals from Langley (and their spouses) had been

Khloe Kardashian Wishes Scott Disick A Happy Birthday With DUI Mugshots

Happy Birthday, Scott Disick! Here’s a reminder you a got DWI back in 2001.

It’s not the most orthodox of birthday greetings, but coming from Khloe Kardashian, we’re not exactly surprised.

Yes, the 29-year-old reality star decided to wish her “partner in crime” a happy 31st birthday by posting his mugshot— as well as her own from a 2007 DUI charge — on Instagram.

“Happy birthday to my partner in crime @letthelordbewithyou I love you LD!!,” Kardashian captioned the photo.

Because nothing quite says “Happy Birthday” like mugshots and bad decisions.

F. Scott Hess: The Perfect Hess-Storm

What a year Los Angeles artist F. Scott Hess is having: his works are simultaneously on view in a two-part retrospective, and a one-man gallery show. His deadpan historically-themed mockmentary and curio cabinet The Paternal Suit: Heirlooms from the F. Scott Hess Family Foundation is gradually making its way from the deep South to the West Coast.

Hess is the subject of a feature article in February’s Juxtapoz, and a ten-page spread in a Polish art magazine: since he doesn’t read Polish, that has been a bit frustrating. A 200 page F. Scott Hess coffee table monograph is due out this fall. It all seems to be coming together in a kind of perfect storm: in fact, Scott has been calling 2014 the year of the Hess-storm.

F. Scott Hess: Photo by Marc Trujillo

Despite all the attention Scott can still go martyr and bring on a striking crucifixion pose at a moment’s notice as he did on the opening night of his CSU Fullerton retrospective. “I tend to focus on what hasn’t happened, on what’s lacking,” Scott wrote in an unpublished set of career musings he penned a few years ago: “Positive reinforcement rolls off me like water off a duck’s back.” Still, even while throwing back his head in a martyr’s pose Hess can’t quite wipe the grin off his face…

F. Scott Hess, 10 x 13 inches, 200 pages

Published by Grand Central & Gingko Press, Designed by Wendy Peng

Essays by John Seed, Leah Ollman, Doug Harvey, and Mike McGee

Available: Fall 2014

To achieve what he has, Hess has relied on his inborn “mule-like stubbornness” for nearly forty years, making art on his own terms. Remarkably, he has built his career without any real acknowledgement from the East Coast art establishment: his work has never been reviewed in Art in America, Art Forum, or Art News. He has had solo shows in Vienna, Tehran, Laguna Beach, San Francisco and Mobile, Alabama, but only scant exposure in New York. Of course, there is always 2015…

Committed to narrative and representational painting since the start of his career, Hess has always seen himself as standing outside the periphery of the official Art World. “I didn’t play their game,” he has written: “I didn’t deal with issues the Art World felt important. I didn’t work in forms and mediums that were of the time.”

Instead of “playing the game” Hess has been painting brilliant and darkly funny paintings, building friendships, teaching and serving as a beacon to an upcoming generation of representational artists. In recent years he has used social media expertly and hit the max of 5,000 Facebook friends a long time ago, and he uses the “like” button fearlessly. Scott is a great painter,” says his friend and fellow artist Marc Trujillo, “and in addition to the example he provides in rigor of his work he’s also been really generous and helpful with his contacts. He puts me in touch with people and we compare notes about everything.”

As this year’s Hess-Storm demonstrates, all the effort that has paid off in both his personal and professional spheres. “Scott is responsible for a resurgence of narrative in painting,” says curator Mike McGee, “A lot of younger artists have come along since (Scott) and felt empowered to tell stories.”

One of his new paintings from 2014 — Lift at Koplin Del Rio — is a trenchant and enigmatic masterpiece that needs to be seen in person to be appreciated. It features four naked figures — two men and two women — who hoist a hippo skull against a sky that illuminates its interior with a flecks or golden-orange light. Scott says it was designed to have “multiple meanings” and to be seen as alternately “religious, cultish, evolutionary or mystic.”

Of course hippos don’t normally have fangs, so the skull that the figures gingerly hold aloft is from an animal that doesn’t really exist: it is an artist’s willful invention, admired by a naked cult. It is a very funny painting but it also makes a point: don’t be embarrassed if your taste is a bit different from everyone else’s. Find the right cult, enjoy the camaraderie and admire the fire of ideas that only the imaginative can perceive…
