Former Victoria’s Secret CEO Is Helping Lingerie Start-up Harper Wilde Grow

Harper Wilde is getting a new bra — two actually. And former Victoria’s Secret chief executive officer Sharen Turney is helping make sure the lingerie brand keeps growing.  The Los Angeles-based start-up — which previously sold just three styles of underwire bras, some with catchy quotes on the side like “Lift Up the Ladies” — is expanding its offerings to include sports bras and bralettes.  “We really want to be able to support her through everything,” cofounder Jenna Kerner told WWD. “We want to be all of the basics, all of her foundations. But instead of just staying in typical bras, we really wanted to expand and cover her from 5 a.m. when she’s working out, to her full day of work, and into her weekend, lounging in her bralettes.”  The pocket in the back of Harper Wilde’s new sports bras is meant to hold small things like keys or a cell phone.  Courtesy Kelle Ramsey The new assortment is available on starting Tuesday and comes with features like straps that adjust from the front, making them easier to reach, and pockets on the back of the sports bras so women can hold things like a cell phone, keys or a wallet while working

Mary Katrantzou on Her Unlikely Collaboration With Victoria’s Secret

In the decade since starting her namesake brand, Mary Katrantzou has designed everything from sneakers to packaging for beauty products. One thing she’d never designed? Bras. So it came as a particular surprise when she got the call from Victoria’s Secret asking her to collaborate on a collection to be presented tonight at the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion show.

“It’s so unexpected, it’s so interesting,” Katrantzou said on Wednesday night at The Plaza in New York at one of the many 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion pre-game events, including the unveiling of the Swarovski-made Fantasy bra on Monday evening (also at The Plaza). “Sometimes you have certain things you want to happen and you manifest to happen and this something that came out of nowhere.…That conversation [with Victoria’s Secret] was interesting, just because of the values we both share about empowering women.”

Katrantzou said she was especially compelled to work with the lingerie giant to collaborate on the technical aspect of designing women’s underpinnings. “That was the exciting part. You always think of the anatomy of a woman when you design and how you create a second skin for the woman,” she said. “Perfecting the fit, you want

Meghan Markle Reveals the Secret Way Her Wedding Veil Honored Her First Date with Prince Harry

It doesn’t get more romantic than this.

In a sneak peek from the upcoming HBO documentary Queen of the World, Meghan Markle opens up about the secret tribute to her first date with Prince Harry hidden within her spectacular 16-foot wedding veil.

While getting a chance to see her dress for the first time after tying the knot in May, Meghan, 37, reveals the special significance behind a “piece of blue fabric” stitched inside.

“Somewhere in here there’s a piece of blue fabric that’s stitched inside — it was my something blue,” Meghan remarks while inspecting the veil in the video above.

Sweetly, she adds, “It’s fabric from the dress that I wore on our first date.”

Of course, the cathedral-length veil also represented a special connection to the Commonwealth.

The bride’s headpiece, made from silk tulle, featured a trim of hand-embroidered flowers from each of the 53 counties in the Commonwealth, the family of nations linked to the U.K., in threads and organza.

“I’m really over the moon to find out that I would make this choice for our day together,” Meghan says in another clip. “And I think the other members of the family had a similar reaction and just appreciation for the fact that we understand how important this is for us and the role that we play, and the work that we’re going to continue to do within the Commonwealth countries.”

Meghan adds: “It was good news all around, I think, so I hope people like it as much as I liked helping to create it.”

Designer Clare Waight Keller previously told PEOPLE that the idea came to her after several conversations with Meghan about what “story” she wanted to tell with the celebration.

“There was a conversation early on about the story that we were going to tell through this wedding,” she said. “Part of what I wanted to do was talk to her about what type of stories they could be. The fact that her and Prince Harry will be working a lot in the Commonwealth was something that I thought was really intriguing and could be something built on to be part of the day.”

“We had different conversations back and forth and I came up with the idea of maybe representing each of the countries, the 53 countries of the Commonwealth, through their flora and fauna,” she added. “We both loved the story of that. It also meant that single one of those countries also journeyed up the aisle with her. It was a really poetic moment.”

The documentary features members of the royal family speaking about Queen Elizabeth and the Commonwealth — and it will air just before Harry and Meghan head to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga on their first official tour of Commonwealth nations.

A palace source previously told PEOPLE that Meghan takes part in “a conversation, a stand-up chat” for the film. The series will also feature appearances from Harry, Prince Charles and Prince William.

Queen of the World premieres Monday, Oct. 1 on HBO at 8 p.m.

Meghan Markle’s Facialist Shares Her Very Unusual Secret

The beauty countdown to the royal wedding is on!

And when it comes to Meghan Markle’s skincare routine, there’s only one facialist on speed dial in preparation for the big day: Scottish-born, London-based Nichola Joss.

Meghan has cited the anti-aging guru as being one of her “favorite aestheticians” and credits Joss and her signature “inner facials” for sculpting and refining her cheeks and jawline.

The $ 350 treatment — which counts Meghan, Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Moss as fans —targets sagging facial muscles through deep lymphatic massage, including the unusual technique of massaging from inside the mouth.

“It allows the muscle to be healthier and more youthful,” Joss tells PEOPLE from her London salon in Covent Garden. “It adds vitality to the muscle. It makes it softer but stronger, and obviously working from the inside of the mouth really addresses the core element of the muscle.”

As for the facials being credited by Meghan as helping to sculpt her face, Joss demurs: “I don’t know about that, because she has a fantastic face shape and she obviously looks after herself very well.” Having worked with Markle for the past five years (she has pop-ups in New York, Toronto and L.A during awards season), Joss adds, “Clearly, she eats well, she does exercise, meditation and yoga and all those factors help.”

Can’t make it to one of her salons? Joss teaches all of her clients how to replicate the experience at home with a series of facial massages. “ has spoken in the past about how much she loves the fact that it’s about facial massage and encouraging exercising the face as well,” says Joss.

In a blog for Birchbox in 2014, Meghan raved about the massage techniques. “I do facial exercises taught to me by one of my favorite aestheticians, Nicola Joss, who basically has you sculpt your face from the inside out. I swear it works, as silly as you may feel. On the days I do it, my cheekbones and jawline are waaaay more sculpted.”

While an appointment with Joss may be physically impossible for most, the celebrity beauty therapist says that anyone can look after their skin with just a little know-how. “Take daily probiotics so you are working on your skin from the inside and follow my massage technique every morning and evening,” she says. “I love Decleor Aromessence Lavandula Iris facial oil serum. Rub a few drops into the palms of your hand and inhale the scent, then start to work from the center of your face outwards and upwards. You can really be creative and play.”

Joe Manganiello Stitches Sweet Secret Note for Sofia Vergara into His Star Wars Premiere Look

If you weren’t already envious enough of Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara’s exceptionally attractive marriage, this might do it: The hunky actor attended the premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi with a sweet message to his bride stitched into his collar.

The couple, who is no stranger to a public display of affection, attended the film’s premiere Saturday night in coordinating attire – she in a pinstripe bustier A-line dress with sheer floral detail and platform heels, he in a windowpane plaid gray suit with black lace-ups and tone-on-tone black shirt, tie and pocket square. But popping the collar of the suit revealed a special surprise – red embroidery that read “I LOVE SOFIA,” which Vergara was very happy to model on her Instagram. “When your husband is carrying a little surprise for u,” she wrote with plenty of heart-eye emojis to underscore her delight.

RELATED PHOTOS: Stars Wearing Other Stars on Their Clothes

The couple is known for sweet gestures on social media that show how much they care, from posting romantic throwback photos from their wedding to surprising each other on set. And they keep each other top of mind even when they’re not around – Sofia works out with a life-size cardboard cutout of her ripped husband for inspiration, while Joe was planning anniversary presents well in advance of the big day.

They also take any opportunity to make a night out a sexy date night; from Thanksgiving to a friend’s wedding, Sofia never lacks for sparkle and Joe perpetually looks sharp. But now that he’s worn his heart on his collar to a major movie premiere, he’s going to have to work hard to top that particular look. Maybe an “I HEART SV” tee for his next beach vacation?

What do you think of his message?

Cultural Queries Abound at Victoria’s Secret Shanghai Show

SHANGHAI – While Victoria’s Secret’s first ever taping of its annual fashion show in China may have been intended to evince a cultural awareness, its many production problems in a foreign location and the inclusion of a Native American-style headdress yet again on its runway in some ways drove home the opposite message.
The show had several firsts. It saw Victoria’s Secret’s first designer collaboration: 20 impressive punk-rocker looks designed by Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing opened the show with Harry Styles, giving the hyper-feminine production some edge. It also included a last: Alessandra Ambrosio, who has been with Victoria’s Secret since 1999, had her final turn as an Angel.

As noteworthy as those moments were, it was hard to compete with the tumble that Ming Xi took on the runway as Miguel sang “Winter Song,” much less the ballyhoo over eleventh-hour visa denials – Katy Perry reportedly over her perceived support for Taiwanese sovereignty, Gigi Hadid due to a racially-charged gesture, in addition to four other models.

Exclusive: Elsa Hosk to Unveil Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show’s Swarovski Look

The 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is set to be an even shinier and more extravagant spectacle than ever before. Not only is the brand jet-setting to Shanghai for the November show, it’s also celebrating the 15-year “Crystal Anniversary” of its partnership with Swarovski, the sole provider of crystal embellishments for the show. One million Swarovski crystals will take the runway, with Victoria’s Secret Angel Elsa Hosk chosen to strut the special anniversary showpiece.
“This year’s Swarovski outfit is probably our most spectacular. The outfit has an incredible wing that is completely covered in brilliant multicolored stones,” said Monica Mitro, executive vice president, brand communications and events at Victoria’s Secret. “It is one of the heaviest wings we have ever made.” With more than 275,000 crystals, 200 yards of woven ribbon and pavé crystals, hand-beaded jewelry and a crystallized wing harness, the wings weigh in at 14 pounds. “The Swarovski anniversary look will be a major standout. It is an explosion of color,” Mitro continued of Parisian couturier Serkan Cura’s work. Idris Elba Talks Sexy Secret Life as a Pro Kick-Boxer

Onscreen or in the ring, Idris Elba always kicks butt.

The British actor, 44, made his debut as a pro kick-boxer in October and pulled out a win, leading to what his The Dark Tower costar Matthew McConaughey refers to as Elba’s “undefeated K1 career.”

“One fight. Who’s counting?” Elba tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “I just wasn’t beaten.”

Elba trained for the October 28 match while shooting the Stephen King adaptation, in which he plays justice defender Gunslinger.

“I trained twice a day,” he says. “I was quickly becoming in incredible shape to endure some of the stuff we did. To be honest, the action sequences were what they were and done in pockets, but I was in good physical and mental shape.”

The father of two had a special guest at his initial face-off in London—Madonna.

“Idris Elba Smashes it at York Hall!” the pop star, 58, wrote on Instagram at the time.

A post shared by Madonna (@madonna) on Oct 28, 2016 at 5:58pm PDT

Elba recently accomplished another first: directing a movie, Yardie, based on Victor Headley’s 1993 novel by the same name. His experience working on the crime film even inspired McConaughey to think about getting behind the camera.

“Idris talked about his love of the experience of it,” McConaughey, 47, tells PEOPLE. “I’ve got a couple of original scripts I’m working on that I would be the only one who could direct them. When I do that, it’s gotta be something that I gotta feel, for every single frame. That would make it really hard, but really fun.”

And Elba offered nothing but support.

“You’d be good at it,” he tells McConaughey. “I think you’d be so passionate and thorough.”

In A Surprise To No One, Victoria’s Secret Thinks Thin, White Women Are Sexy

Victoria’s Secret debuted its annual “What is Sexy” winners Monday, and many people are calling the brand out for its outdated stance on what sexy looks like.

Winners in categories like “Sexiest DJ” and “Sexiest Entertainer” went largely to young, thin, white women. Many on social media slammed the lingerie brand for its lack of diversity and inclusivity.

It’s never a good thing when brands declare just a narrow range of body types or skin tones as “sexy,” and unfortunately this kind of move is pretty much par for the course when it comes to Victoria’s Secret.

Year after year, VS has failed to embrace a wider range of beauty both in stores as well as on the runway of its highly watched fashion show. At a time when even high-end designers are using their platform to showcase women of different sizes and ages, the closest we’ve gotten to Victoria’s Secret following suit has been words of encouragement to do so by models like Denise Bidot and Ashley Graham

Other lingerie brands have done a better job of squashing outdated beauty standards, whether through committing to un-retouched advertisements or a wider range of models starring in their campaigns. Social media is flush with more body positivity and underwear selfies than ever. And still, we are yet to see a shift from what is arguably the most well-known, wide-reaching lingerie brand of them all.

The brand’s lack of offerings over a certain size has been credited with costs and resources. Cora Harrington, a lingerie expert, told Business Insider in 2016 that “what a lot of people may not realize is that each size grouping basically requires a different factory and a different set of patterns.”

But broadening your horizons to include more people on your list of “what is sexy” or, you know, not putting out a list declaring “what is sexy” in the first place doesn’t cost you anything, and would send a message to your customers that yes, thin can be sexy, but so can fat. White can be sexy, and so can black.

Sexy is not one size, race or color. If Victoria’s Secret hasn’t figured that out by now, we’re not sure it ever will. And that, for one, is pretty un-sexy if you ask us.

Amanda Seyfried And Thomas Sadoski Did The Whole Secret Eloping Thing

Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski secretly eloped this weekend and if our fifth sense is correct, there’s a 30 percent chance they’re already married. Ugh, sorry “Mean Girls” fans, you’ll forgive us one day.

The couple, who are expecting their first child together, married in a private ceremony on March 12, after less than a year of dating. And by private we mean they ran off together and didn’t invite anybody to the wedding.

The “Newsroom” actor made the surprise announcement on Thursday night during a visit to “The Late Late Show with James Corden” ― if you’re gonna do it, do it big ― when the host caught a glance of his wedding ring.

“We eloped,” Sadoski announced. “We just took off into the country with an officiant and just the two of us, and we did our thing … We had a great day. It was perfect.”

According to Sadoski, the two took Seyfried’s beloved Australian Shepherd, Finn, along for the ride and wrote their own vows, describing the intimate ceremony as “beautiful.”

This nice man is going to be on @latelateshow tonight to talk about nice things!

A post shared by Amanda Seyfried (@mingey) on

Seyfried and Sadoski first met while working together on an off-Broadway production of “The Way We Get By” in 2015. However, they didn’t start dating until early 2016, as the actress had recently split from her ex-boyfriend of two years, Justin Long. Seyfried and Sadoski later reunited during filming of “The Last Word,” which hit theaters this month.

Overly In-Depth Analysis Of ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 7 Teaser Might Reveal A Secret

On “Game of Thrones,” the sword Oathkeeper has been there and back a-Gwen.

The sword, which now appears in a new Season 7 teaser, was originally part of Ice, the Valyrian steel greatsword of House Stark. Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) had the Stark sword melted down and reforged into two different blades.

He then gave the reforged sword that became Oathkeeper to his son Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), who later gave it to Gwendoline Christie’s character Brienne of Tarth. In Season 6, Brienne tries to give it back to Jaime, as she’s completed her quest to get Sansa (Sophie Turner) to safety, but Jaime doesn’t take it back. Instead, he tells her, “It’s yours. It will always be yours.”

OK. Phew. That’s the sword’s story. Or, it was until the new Season 7 teaser.

The teaser reveals a glamorous, sexy shot of Oathkeeper’s hilt. But wait, something is amiss. Who’s holding it?

The sword should still be with Brienne ― as we recapped, she’s still its owner ― but the hand holding it appears to be covered in freckles.

This is a picture of Gwendoline Christie:

And here’s a zoomed-in version of that picture:

That hand in the teaser and Christie’s hand in the photo look hella different.

Does this reveal a dark secret for Season 7? Will someone else get Oathkeeper? Does this mean Brienne’s end is coming?

The teaser could just be a behind-the-scenes image, but what if it’s not?

Other than unconfirmed leaks, we don’t know a lot about what’s happening in Season 7. Though, there is a theory from A Song of Ice and Fire readers that claims Brienne was secretly killed in George R.R. Martin’s novels by a zombified Catelyn Stark. Perhaps we will see Christie’s character meet her end in Season 7.

But, if the hand isn’t Brienne’s, whose could it be? Here are some suspects:

Suspect #1: Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau)

Despite his respect and love for Brienne, could Jaime Lannister have reclaimed Oathkeeper for himself? Did he have her wrapped around his little freckled finger only to betray her?

A day may come when Jaime’s love for Brienne fails, but it is not this day. His hands appear to be clean … and freckle-less.

Suspect #2: Tormund (Kristofer Hivju)

We know Tormund is into Brienne from all the thirsty as heck looks he gave her in Season 6. Could she have finally let her shield down long enough for Tormund to get close?

Better luck next time, dude.

Unless those freckles are just dirt — which, hey, they could be — it’s probably not Tormund.

Dang, man. Keep your cool.

Suspect #3: Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen)

Jorah Mormont is the definition of an oath-breaker. The guy fled from Westeros after illegally selling poachers into slavery, and later was secretly spying on his queen, Daenerys Targaryen.

Those are all bad things.

So far, Jorah’s journey has been bumpier than Dany’s first time flying on Drogon.

Khaleesi banished him, he contracted greyscale while attempting to deliver Tyrion to her, and he was banished again before eventually getting on good terms with the Mother of Dragons.

Jorah was already denied the sword of House Mormont, Longclaw, which is now in possession of Jon Snow. Somehow, getting the sword Oathkeeper would let Jorah come full circle.

And, most importantly, the guy appears to have freckly hands:

Boom. Caught freckle-handed.

Could the hand from the teaser belong to one of the suspects above? Or did we awkwardly analyze those hands for nothing?

Both are possible. Both make us uncomfortable.

There is some good news for Brienne fans, though. Freckled hands of various crew members of “Game of Thrones” seem to appear in another “In-Production” teaser from the show.

Plus, another first look shows Lena Headey (Cersei) getting makeup and hair touch-ups behind the scenes.

If the tease with Oathkeeper is only a behind-the-scenes shot, the person holding it may not have an impact on the storyline. It could just be a crew member or stunt coordinator. That’d mean the sword is still safe with Brienne … for now.

We know from the show that all men must die. Hopefully this teaser doesn’t mean that one of our favorite female characters will die, as well.

As World War I rages and the Romanov dynasty reaches its sudden, brutal end, a young jewelry maker discovers love, passion, and her own healing powers in this rich and romantic ghost story, the perfect follow-up to M.J. Rose’s “brilliantly crafted” (Providence Journal) novel The Witch of Painted Sorrows. Nestled within Paris’s historic Palais Royal is a jewelry store unlike any other. La Fantasie Russie is owned by Pavel Orloff, protégé to the famous Faberge, and is known by the city’s fashion elite as the place to find the rarest of gemstones and the most unique designs. But war has transformed Paris from a city of style and romance to a place of fear and mourning. In the summer of 1918, places where lovers used to walk, widows now wander alone. So it is from La Fantasie Russie’s workshop that young, ambitious Opaline Duplessi now spends her time making trench watches for soldiers at the front, as well as mourning jewelry for the mothers, wives, and lovers of those who have fallen. People say that Opaline’s creations are magical. But magic is a word Opaline would rather not use. The concept is too closely associated with her mother Sandrine, who practices the dark arts passed down from their ancestor La Lune, one of sixteenth century Paris’s most famous courtesans. But Opaline does have a rare gift even she can’t deny, a form of lithomancy that allows her to translate the energy emanating from stones. Certain gemstones, combined with a personal item, such as a lock of hair, enable her to receive messages from beyond the grave. In her mind, she is no mystic, but merely a messenger, giving voice to soldiers who died before they were able to properly express themselves to loved ones. Until one day, one of these fallen soldiers communicates a message-directly to her. So begins a dangerous journey that will take Opaline into the darkest corners of wartime Paris and across the English Channel, where the exiled Romanov dowager empress is waiting to discover the fate of her

The Secret Ingredient To A Successful Film Is Kyle Chandler

In 2013, both “Zero Dark Thirty” and “Argo” were nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. The latter, directed by Ben Affleck, went on to win. The following year, “The Wolf of Wall Street” nabbed five Academy Award nods. And in 2015, “Carol” gained critical acclaim and competed for six golden statues on Hollywood’s biggest night.

This year, Kenneth Lonergan’s film “Manchester by the Sea” has landed on a bevy of year-end lists and was named the best film of 2016 by the National Board of Review. The movie has already earned three Critics’ Choice Awards, four Screen Actors Guild nominations and five Golden Globe nominations. Let’s just say chances for a few Oscars are pretty high.

But what do all of those movies have in common? Well, Kyle Chandler, of course.

The Emmy winner, who is best known for his beloved role as Coach Eric Taylor on the TV series “Friday Night Lights,” played supporting roles in the five films mentioned above. Chandler himself has never been nominated, but he’s clearly earned a different prize: awards season’s lucky charm.

“I don’t know about that,” he told The Huffington Post in a recent interview, laughing at the concept. “I’ll tell you what, I’m lucky to be involved in all those films.”

In actuality, five of the last seven movies Chandler was part of became Oscar hits. The 2013 Sundance prizewinner “The Spectacular Now” and the political thriller “Broken City” were the two movies that didn’t compete for gold, but neither went unnoticed. In fact, “The Spectacular Now” earned two Independent Spirit Award nominations and a handful of critics’ accolades. And now, believe it or not, Chandler’s next indie, “Sidney Hall,” is already surrounded by buzz.

These supporting roles keep being offered and the people who have been involved in the films, you can’t say no to, you know?
Kyle Chandler

There’s no mystery behind why Chandler is cast in notable films: the 51-year-old actor is a memorable force on screen. His voice is one of a kind. He gives amazing pre-game pep talks. He plays a great CIA chief/FBI agent/authority figure, and he knows how to be a jealous husband when it’s needed. It appears Chandler always has the upper hand when it comes to playing men in charge ― he makes you believe he’s got everything under control, whether it be within an agency, administration or familial structure. (“You need a guy who’s grown up, and a lot of actors don’t seem grown up, no matter how old they get,” director Todd Haynes said in 2015, explaining why he cast Chandler in “Carol.”) With his latest role, Chandler proves he’s got the skills to make you feel all that plus true, wrenching heartbreak.

Chandler, oddly enough, plays Joe Chandler in “Manchester by the Sea,” a movie riddled with both extreme grief and laugh-out-loud humor that you don’t know which emotions to embrace as the movie unfolds. The story revolves around a Massachusetts handyman, Lee (Casey Affleck), who is assigned guardianship of his teenage nephew, Patrick (Lucas Hedges), after his only brother (Chandler) dies. Although he moves back to his hometown to care for Patrick, Lee is facing darker demons that prevent him from truly tackling the role of father-figure.

“I found the script very uplifting as opposed to depressing,” Chandler said when asked about the film’s somber undertones. “I find that the character I play was actually freeing my brother from a possible lifetime of imprisonment, and I was giving him the option and the choices to free himself from his past pain by being the one who’s able to do the right thing for my son. And if I was going to look at the ending of the character, I would say my brother did the best he could do for who he is and that’s what I wanted him to do before I passed away.”

Lonergan’s screenplay affected Chandler so deeply that he knew he had to be in the film. So, he did his very best to convince the writer and director to hire him. “I read the script twice in a couple of hours because it moved me so much. I thought I was being tricked or something,” Chandler explained. “The next morning, I went and I sat for an hour with Kenny, [and we] talked about what I’d like to do with the character and what he did, and we had a great breakfast. I walked out of there 10 feet tall, thinking, ‘Wow, I hope he chooses me for this.’”

Chandler feels that way about most of the films he’s involved with as of late. Although he no longer needs to audition (“I was always terrified of auditioning, to be quite honest”), the actor reads dozens of scripts and usually can’t believe the immense talent behind the projects he’s pitched.

“I’ve never truly gone against my gut feeling,” Chandler said. “But a lot of these you don’t even have to worry about having a gut feeling. When you meet Martin Scorsese and he says, ‘Ah, I think you’d be good for this.’ You feel like, ‘OK! I think so, too.’ I’ve been so very fortunate. You look at the directors on each one of the films that you mentioned, they’re really impressive people who are really good at what they do.”

Still, Chandler is always a supporting player in a field of lead actors, which has included Ben Affleck (“Argo”), Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty”), Leonardo DiCaprio (“The Wolf of Wall Street”), Cate Blanchett (“Carol”) and Casey Affleck (“Manchester by the Sea”). He insists he’s fine with that, but it doesn’t mean he’s not eager to take on a headlining role. In fact, the funnier, the better.

“These supporting roles keep being offered and the people who have been involved in the films, you can’t say no to, you know?” he explained, referring to directors like Scorsese, Haynes and Kathryn Bigelow. “I’ve never had a lead role in a feature and that’s the next brass ring that I’m looking for. That’s one pursuit that I have not hit yet. But until then, I’m very happy with where I am,” Chandler added with a chuckle.

He’s never seemed to have a problem nabbing a lead role on television, however. The actor once again played an authoritative but lovable family man on NBC’s “Friday Night Lights” for five seasons. His portrayal of football coach Eric Taylor earned him numerous accolades, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2011. More recently, he stars in Netflix’s original series “Bloodline” as John Rayburn, a Florida sheriff dealing with family crisis after family crisis as a protective son and brother. Again, Chandler received Emmys love, being nominated twice for a role that mirrors a lot of his past work. Hollywood has a tendency to pigeonhole him into this stern, endearing character arc, something Chandler is well aware of.

“There’s this gravitas that for some reason I get hired for these heavy roles, and I love comedy,” he admitted. “I cannot wait to get hold of a comedic script. A dark comedy, a situational comedy — anything comedy! Because I haven’t done anything fun like that in so long.”

An invitation to this year’s most prestigious award show would be fun too, but that’s a whole other thing Chandler isn’t so sure about. Believe it or not, he’s never even attended the Oscars: “They won’t let me in,” he joked.

Standing on the sidelines of awards season doesn’t faze him, though. “When I get a chance to go, that’s awesome. Fantastic. Great,” he said. “But if I’m not invited, I’m not bothered by it at all.”

Chandler “truly” believes the Oscar buzz surrounding “Manchester” is deserved. Despite having some anxiety about taking on a Boston accent for the film (“The thing that worries me the most is people from the area. If they don’t buy it, it’s just a big fail”), Lonergan’s dedication, Affleck’s immersion into his character and the crew’s tireless efforts made Chandler quickly realize that this project was something special. If it wins, he’ll be proudest of the teamwork involved.

When you go and you win an Emmy, you’re not standing up there, saying, “Hey, look at me, I won an Emmy. I’m so proud of myself.” You just happen to be the grinning fool who’s standing up there holding the statue.
Kyle Chandler

“Within just wanting things to do well, it’s not just you. You’re striving for all the people who work around you and the whole project,” Chandler said of awards season, admitting he doesn’t “strive for nominations.”

“When you go and you win an Emmy, you’re not standing up there, saying, ‘Hey, look at me, I won an Emmy. I’m so proud of myself.’ You just happen to be the grinning fool who’s standing up there holding the statue,” he added. “Without everyone else, then you’re on the sidelines. But in that sense, you’re never on the sidelines as long as you have a job because you’re always having fun doing what you want. Like I always say, that’s why they call it a play. It’s play. So it’s a good living.”

Before ending the conversation, we asked Chandler what his next Oscar-nominated film would be. The actor couldn’t help but joke a bit.

“It’s probably going to be a comedy and I’m going to be the lead in it. And it will be shot in black-and-white. Old, beautiful, grainy, nickel-like nitrate. That would be fantastic.”

Yes. Yes, it would.

Secret Societies

Secret Societies

The greatest success of the Bavarian Illuminati conspiracy was the French Revolution of 1789. The profound impact of that Revolution is felt to this day in the political destinies of billions of people worldwide. The Illuminati had declared war against Church and State a decade earlier and worked feverishly to spread their new gospel of Liberty and Reason. Although the Order was officially suppressed on the eve of the Revolution, its efforts do not appear to have been in vain. The recruiting program of Illuminati founder Adam Weishaupt was focused on attracting the powerful and influential government ministers, educators, the press, authors and philosophers, booksellers and publishers, even religious leaders open to agnostic or atheist views. Many such men belonged to the masonic lodges of Germany, Austria, and France. The wider masonic network offered Weishaupt a respectable vehicle by which he was able to propagate his clandestine doctrines. What message does the triumph of these secret societies carry for the modern world? English historian Una Birch attempts to answer this question from the point of view of the early twentieth century. Writing just a hundred years after the event, her closeness in time, and sympathy for the Revolution, offer a unique perspective to the modern reader. Editor James Wasserman adds a contemporary perspective that takes into account the events of the twentieth century that occurred after Ms. Birch wrote. He has also added a guide to the history and personalities of the French Revolution to help clarify the text. * Reveals the secret activities of the Bavarian Illuminati and the Freemasons in organizing the French Revolution. * Traces the influence of the mysterious Illuminati agent, the Comte de Saint Germain, as he traveled through the courts and cities of Europe. * Offers a unique perspective on the Revolution by an author who supported the Illuminati war against tyranny and superstition, yet does not shrink from examining the dark

Stunning Photos Show Evolution Of The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

The day we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived: The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show airs tonight.

Based on photos that have emerged in the days since this year’s show filmed, it’s evident that the flashy production, which has only gotten more elaborate over the years, maintains its reputation in 2016.

But if there’s one thing that has gone unchanged since the show’s humble beginnings, it’s the models’ excitement about walking that coveted runway. Kendall Jenner has been quoted repeatedly calling the show her ultimate dream, and the same goes for best friend and fellow supermodel Gigi Hadid.

The iconic models who came before have held the show at that same regard. Heidi Klum credits the show with making her a “household name.” Adriana Lima, the brand’s longest running model, was quoted at age 18 as saying she thinks the “dream of a lot of girls” would be to work with the brand.

So, while the show has changed drastically over the years into the mega-produced holiday spectacle it’s known as today, the feeling that it’s the ultimate career milestone for a model remains beautifully unchanged.

Check out some of your favorite supermodels in all their VS glory through the years below.
