Brands to Check Out at the Vegas Shows

As the men’s market nears its end and the women’s season kicks off, brands and buyers will flock to Las Vegas to check out the spring market. With Project Men’s and Women’s, WWDMAGIC, Liberty Fairs, Agenda and more commencing next week at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Sands Expo Center, here are some brands to keep on the radar.   Project Men’s Brand: Marine Layer Designer: Molly Getty, chief creative officer A look from Marine Layer.  ARTURO TORRES Backstory: Michael Natenshon joked that he started Marine Layer after his girlfriend threw out his favorite shirt. Although he crossed into the fashion world from the finance arena, Natenshon had always had an interest in apparel and just couldn’t find anything in the market quite like what he wanted. He moved to Los Angeles to study textiles and develop a fabric that would be the basis for Marine Layer. The founder and chief executive officer launched the brand in 2010, offering T-shirts to friends and family before opening a pop-up shop in San Francisco that eventually became a full-time lease and one of the brand’s 41 retail locations. Though Marine Layer operates stores across the United States in big markets such as New York City, San Francisco, Southern California,

The ‘Gossip Girl’ Reboot Is Coming: A Look Back at the Show’s Iconic Fashion Moments

A “Gossip Girl” reboot is officially in the works.
Seven years after it went off the air, the CW teen drama, famous for its over-the-top fashion, is being remade for HBO Max, a new streaming service launching in spring 2020, which will be home to HBO and WarnerMedia programming.
According to TVLine, the reboot will also be set in New York and will highlight how social media plays into the lives of elite Manhattan private school students. The show’s former executive producers — Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Joshua Safran — are returning for the reboot, but it has not yet been announced if the original series’ cast — including Blake Lively, Leighton Meester and Penn Badgley, among others — will be returning.
“Gossip Girl” has long been admired as one of the most fashionable TV shows of the late Aughts, attracting some of the industry’s biggest names for cameos, including Rachel Zoe, Karlie Kloss, Cynthia Rowley and Tory Burch, among others. Costume designer Eric Daman dressed the cast in looks straight from the runway, creating the show’s most iconic fashion moments. The series’ last season in particular had a number of standout looks, including Meester’s character, Blair Waldorf, who wore an Elie

Retailers Embrace Feminine Side of Men’s Shows in Paris

PARIS — Retailers embraced the wave of femininity that swept through the men’s shows in Paris. Fluid suits, silky shirts, a profusion of pastels — think pink! — floral prints and individual expression were the names of the game this season.
“The most important new direction we are looking for in Paris is the genderless look,” said Federica Montelli, head of fashion at La Rinascente.
Emmanuel de Bayser, co-owner of The Corner, pushed the idea a bit further:
“The classic, traditional men’s look for us is completely gone. Easy, fresh and bold are the keywords,” he said.
Dior topped the favorite collections, with Louis Vuitton and Dries Van Noten as runners-up. The next tier was crowded: Jil Sander, Loewe, Celine, Valentino and Off-White, reflecting diversity in opinions.
In the hot-new-talent department, Casablanca and Nanushka caught notice. And the best venue went to Louis Vuitton — the Paris streets never fail to charm. Lanvin’s poolside runway and Dior’s futuristic set were also popular.
While snarled traffic and hot sticky weather did not go unnoticed, the fashion, it seems, will be remembered the most.
Here, a roundup of the Paris spring collections in the eyes of the retailers.

Scary Chic: Jeremy Scott Shows Monster Moschino Collection at Universal Studios Hollywood

In the era of fashion-as-entertainment, it’s amazing it took this long for a designer to stage a full-fledged runway extravaganza at an actual Hollywood studio.
Jeremy Scott did just that Friday night in Los Angeles, bringing a monster of a Moschino Resort collection to Universal Studios’ eerily blissful suburban Americana stand-in used for “Leave it To Beaver,” “The Munsters” and “Desperate Housewives.”
It was the culmination of a lifelong dream for the designer, who has ambitions to make a film of his own one day a la Tom Ford, and remembered the first time he visited Universal Studios from Kansas City at age 13 in typical aw-shucks fashion: “We stayed at the Sheraton. I was with my family, and I told the other people in the hot tub I was going to be a famous star one day…I didn’t really think I was going to be a fashion star.”
The show was scripted from the moment guests entered the gate of the studio, hallowed ground for Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg – and for Hollywood’s most prolific costume designer, Edith Head. With a short video of Scott as tour guide, guests took the backlot tour trams, rolling past sets for “Psycho” and “Jaws” and

Saks’ Roopal Patel and FIT’s Valerie Steele Talk Fashion Shows and Trends

After a whirlwind month covering the fashion shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris, Roopal Patel, senior vice president and fashion director of Saks Fifth Avenue, gave the lowdown to Valerie Steele, curator and director of The Museum of FIT on Thursday afternoon.
The conversation, which took place at the third annual winter luncheon of the Couture Council of The Museum at FIT, was held at Avra Madison Estiatorio and sponsored by Saks.
By way of introduction, Kathy Reilly, luncheon chair, said Patel has driven the transformation of Saks since 2015, with responsibility for trend forecasting, spotting emerging designers and honing the seasonal fashion message.
Steele then kicked off the discussion, asking Patel to describe her primary day-to-day responsibilities and strategic point of view.
Patel, who oversees men’s, women’s, accessories, jewelry and beauty, said, “When we look at fashion, there’s a lot of storytelling that goes on. Our job and my responsibility is to be the translator and curator. Taking what we’re seeing on the runways in London, New York, Milan and Paris, and making sure that that vision and the trend direction is translated for the Saks customer to experience.”
One of Patel’s goals is to make sure they’re making shopping at Saks

Karlie Kloss and New ‘Project Runway’ Judges on the Show’s Kinder, Gentler Reboot

When “Project Runway” launched in 2004, it pulled back the curtain on the fashion industry, made Michael Kors a household name, and elevated the role of designer into the pop culture pantheon. Running for 16 seasons with guest judges including Kim Kardashian, Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker and Ciara, the show introduced such memorable moments as the Gristedes challenge and the Thunder From Down Under challenge. And it gave millions of wannabes dreams of making it like Christian Siriano, the biggest success story among the winners.
After a nearly two-year hiatus, the show returns on March 14 to Bravo for its 17th season, reimagined for now. New host, model Karlie Kloss, who is also executive producer, is joined by a new mentor (Siriano) in the Tim Gunn role, and three regular judges — Elle magazine editor in chief Nina Garcia, a veteran of the show’s earlier iteration; former Teen Vogue editor Elaine Welteroth, and designer Brandon Maxwell.
The 17 designers competing have a range of experience, and hail from all over the world, including one contestant who is a Syrian refugee, and others who are from India and Samoa. The show will put a new emphasis on inclusion, featuring models of all races

New York Trade Shows Set Uncertain Tone for Season

The rollicking situation with the U.S. government and the subsequent economic uncertainties are giving specialty stores some angst about their prospects in 2019.
With that as the backdrop, retailers were cautious as they shopped the trade shows in New York City last month. They scoured the aisles of Project, Liberty Fairs and Man searching for those special items that would draw customers into their stores. And luckily, they were able to find some things that fit the bill — updated knitwear, outerwear and accessories in particular — from some off-the-radar vendors with a creative bent.
“The fourth quarter overall was good, but the last two weeks of the year with the government shutdown and the market tanking took some steam out of our results,” said Ken Giddon, president of Rothmans.
Although he remains positive, Giddon said he’s expecting a “fight” to hit last year’s numbers, especially as traditional tailored clothing sales continue to drop. “There are a lot fewer suits being bought so we have to find dollars to make up for that,” he said.
And so Giddon, who admits that he loves “the hunt” at trade shows, pored through the hundreds of brands on display to find those replacement dollars. The good news,

Phoebe English Shows Fall 2019 Collection in Exhibition Alongside 30 Marionettes

EXHIBITIONIST: Phoebe English showcased pieces from her fall 2019 women’s wear offering at the Morley Gallery in South London at an exhibition called “Inanimate, Animate. (Only) Half the Reflection,” a show in two parts, the second of which features 30 charming marionettes wearing to-scale pieces from her archive.
The person-sized clothes, which made their debut during the men’s shows last month in a presentation, were suspended from the ceiling on rotating mechanisms that afforded close-up inspection of the intricate techniques that have earned her a loyal following.
There was a black pinafore dress with T-shaped cuts outlined with wide satin stitch embroidery, and a delicate white mesh harness.
“We call this coat, ‘The Coat of Dreams (and of Nightmares)’,” said English, fondly nodding to a black topper made from a great many patches of recycled black fabric, each piece encased in fine silk tulle. The kind of deceptively simple, thing that a cursory glance sets the mind to thinking, “Right, black coat” but an up-close eye-ball reveals all its complexities.
The space was scented by Timothy Han, who used the aromas of birch tar and dry wheat from his “On the Road” fragrance to emphasize English’s focus on natural sustainable fabrics, and Johanna Burnheart performed

Giorgio Armani Shows his Love of Colors

TRUE COLORS: The photographic exhibit “Fabula,” unveiled Friday evening at the Armani Silos space, isn’t what one would really expect from Giorgio Armani–and the designer knows it. “I was tickled by the idea that people think I love neutrals so much, that this is a contradiction and that Armani doesn’t love colors, but, actually, here they are,” said Armani during a walkthrough. “I fell in love with these color palettes, and I had fun with the images.”
Indeed, the exhibition of more than 250 images by French photographer Charles Fréger, his largest to date and running until March 24, is joyful and entertaining, capturing a variety of subjects from around the world, ranging from the Finnish ice-skating team and images of young Sumo wrestlers and Sikh soldiers to whimsically and artfully painted Jaipur elephants or quirky yet traditional masked costumes.

Armani, who years ago staged his own “Eccentrico” exhibition said there is a “need for eccentricity today. He lamented how generally “we are now stupidly attracted by small and banal things, but we need to be stimulated.” In fashion, too, it seems “anything now is an invention, but that’s not true. We must be inventive.”

Khloé Kardashian Shows Off Her Post-Baby Body in Hot Pink Ensemble During a Girls’ Night

Khloé Kardashian is celebrating her post-baby bod!

On Friday, the 34-year-old mom attended the makeup launch of her younger sister, Kylie Jenner, and Jenner’s pal Jordyn Woods.

For the event, Khloé opted for a hot pink tube top and matching skirt, showing off her fit figure— 5 months after giving birth to daughter True Thompson.

To complete the ensemble, the Revenge Body host — who wore her blonde locks in a light wave — added a pair of triple white Yeezy Boost 350 sneakers and a fuzzy pink fanny pack around her barely-there waist.

Following the launch — which also served as a celebration for Woods’ 21st birthday — the reality star posted the shot on Instagram, of herself and makeup artist Hrush Achemyan surrounded by pink heart balloons.

The star captioned the shot: “This one right here though!!! She’s my Apposh!!! My Armenian sister 💕

Her impressive figure drew praise from many, including sister Kourtney Kardashian.

Before Friday’s event, Kourtney, 39, fittingly blasted Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” in the car — referencing her sister’s pink and blonde appearance — and recorded Khloé on her Instagram story dancing to the tune.

At the “Kylie x Jordyn” event guests dined on a fancy meal, along with desserts featuring the longtime friends’ faces on them. Decorations also included personalized table place cards with a cartoon version of each guest.

Khloé’s girls’ night came the day after boyfriend Tristan Thompson’s boys’ night at a Hollywood club with a bunch of friends.

The boys’ night was not all men, however, causing concern Thompson may be overstepping his relationship boundaries.

However, a source tells PEOPLE it was a “low-key” evening, but Thompson remained loyal to the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, despite lounging at a table inside the club surrounded by women.

“Tristan arrived at Warwick with a group of guys and one girl. Some of his friends are single though. It didn’t seem the girl was with Tristan,” the onlooker said about the Cleveland Cavaliers player. “There were other girls hanging around the table, but Tristan didn’t really interact with them. His friends chatted with girls, but Tristan was very low-key.”

He left around 2:30 a.m. to go home to Khloé, the source adds.

In April, videos of the NBA star with different women surfaced just days before Khloé welcomed their daughter on April 12.

Since the cheating scandal, both Thompson and Khloé have been committed to repairing their relationship. They moved from Cleveland, Ohio, to her hometown of Los Angeles for the summer and have been spending time with her KUWTK family.

“Tristan hasn’t been out much at all with his friends. He has been very quiet this summer and mostly spent time at home with Khloé and True,” a source close to the family told PEOPLE about Thompson.

RELATED VIDEO: Khloé Kardashian Adoringly Looks Into Tristan Thompson’s Eyes In Sweet Birthday Photo

As for his evening away from home this week, Khloé didn’t seem to mind. “Khloé seems fine with him going out with friends,” the source added, despite the pair still attending therapy.

“Tristan initially resisted therapy but has realized how important it is for Khloé,” the source said. “He is finally realizing how much he hurt Khloé. He wants Khloé to be happy with him, so he is really trying to be the best person that he can be.”

The couple is currently preparing to move back to Cleveland, ahead of his Cavaliers season starting up.

“It’s hard for Khloé. She will really miss Kris  and her sisters,” a source said. “It’s not going to be easy for her, but she is committed to keeping her family together. And Tristan has shown that he is committed to Khloé, so Khloé will make it work.”

Pregnant Hilary Duff Shows Off Baby Bump in Black Bikini with Son Luca

Hilary Duff is getting some quality time in with her son before her new daughter arrives.

In a sweet snapshot on Instagram, the Younger star, 30, shared a peek at her growing baby bump. Lounging in a black bikini on a reclining pool chair, Duff cuddled up to Luca, 6, her child with ex-husband Mike Comrie.

To complete her summer look, Duff pulled back her blond hair and added simple gold jewelry.

“Max relax,” she captioned the picture.

She posted another photograph of Luca during their fun weekend, writing, “Sun tired/swim tired/life tired/photo tired.”

Duff — who is expecting a baby with boyfriend Matthew Koma, 31 — has shown off her bump a number of times during her pregnancy. In July, she compared stomachs with Koma, kissed Koma as she flaunted her bump in a black two-piece, and posted a bikini picture with Luca at the beach.

RELATED: Hilary Duff Denies That an ‘Altercation’ Occurred Between Boyfriend Matthew Koma and Her Neighbor

In the caption of another bump-baring picture, Duff got candid about the challenges of pregnancy.

“The boobs are big the belly is big the body is big,” Duff wrote. “Man.. pregnancy is hard. Giving love to all mamas who make it look effortless… this journey is hard as hell and also incredibly special. Lovely to have a little life inside and to day dream of all the new adventures to come buuuut almost impossible to get my own shoes on.”

She continued, “sick of getting up 9 times a night to pee and looking at this weird body in the mirror that is not my own at the moment. Women are so bad ass, this was just a note to remind myself and remind others how’s strong and beautiful you are! WE GOT THIS!”

Duff has said that she is thrilled to welcome a girl this time around.

“I was so nervous beforehand because I thought for sure I was going to have a boy,” Duff told Ryan Seacrest in an On Air segment in June. “I have a boy already, which would’ve been great and I’m obsessed with Luca, but I don’t know, I just wanted one of each.”

RELATED: How Hilary Duff Accepted That Her Body Was ‘Never Going to Be the Same’ After Having Her Son

“It was funny that I cared so much,” Hilary noted on Seacrest’s show. “My sister  has girls, and I feel like I’m really girly. But for the past six years I’ve bought monsters and trucks and planes, and Luca’s into all the boy stuff, so everything’s blue and green, and I was just ready for pink and purple stuff.”

Duff confirmed that she and Koma were dating for the third time in December before announcing their pregnancy news in June. “Timing is such a big deal,” she explained on The Talk. “Third time’s a charm!”

Southern Charm’s Shep Shows Off His Abs While Making Meatballs with Cameran: ‘Can You Handle It?’

Shep Rose is good at many things, but cooking doesn’t appear to be one of them!

On Thursday’s episode of Southern Charm, the 38-year-old reality star asks pal Cameran Eubanks to help him in the kitchen — and PEOPLE has the exclusive first look at their flub-filled session.

“I’m trying to make meatballs, will you help me?” Rose laments. “I don’t know what I’m doing.”

The two turn to instructional website — though even their simple step-by-step recipe and video tutorial seems to trip up Rose.

“I’m overwhelmed,” he says. “Look at me. What do I know? I don’t know anything. My mom has done everything for me for my whole life.”

Luckily, Rose at least knows how to dress for the part. Before he and Eubanks start the dish over, he puts on an apron with printed abs on it.

“Are you gaining weight? You’ve got some handles,” Eubanks, 34, asks.

“Can you handle it?” he jokes, later pouring the two a glass of wine.

Elsewhere in the clip, Eubanks gives an update on newborn daughter Palmer, now 7 months.

“Palmer’s great,” Eubanks says. “She’s with my mom right now asleep.”

She then admits that she is dealing with mom guilt for spending time away from her daughter.

“I do feel a little bit guilty being out without my child,” she says. “But I have to balance being a mother with also still having my own life. Because babies, they’re just like little parasites, and you’re like their personal assistant.”

Central Saint Martins Shows Off Conceptually Charged Designs at BA Fashion Show

LONDON — Central Saint Martins unveiled its annual BA fashion show at the school’s 1Granary campus this week, showcasing works from 41 students. Their designs, ranging from the experimental to the political and conceptual, reflected the breadth of the students’ specializations, including women’s wear, men’s wear, print, fashion design, marketing and knitwear.
Paolina Russo won the L’Oréal Professionnel Young Talent Award. By the time she turned 21, Russo had already been photographed by Kendall Jenner for Love magazine, styled for the band Dream Wife and been named a muse of John Galliano.
The collection was a love letter to Russo’s Canadian hometown, with ensembles drawing heavily from contact sports. She weaved together elbow pads, shin guards and protective gear to create structured outfits, while the final look was a crocheted dress that resembled a soccer ball, albeit a beautiful, wearable one.
The three runners-up included women’s wear student Simon Valer Dacsef, who was also awarded the LVMH Grand Prix scholar prize for his lineup of voluminous flouncy dresses in a sea of bright greens, pinks and blues.
Elsewhere, student René Scheibenbauer’s muted palette radiated peace of mind. Deconstructed tailoring took on soft twisting and draping elements and his black and white palette was punctuated

Phoebe English to Combine Men’s, Women’s Shows in June

TWO BECOME ONE: Phoebe English is the latest designer to take the coed route. The designer plans to combine her men’s and women’s presentations starting next month at London Fashion Week Men’s.
“I think the main thing is to take control of schedules and time,” said English. “Combining the shows will give us a longer lead time to develop designs in between seasons,” she said.
English will stage her first coed presentation on Sunday, June 10 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Financial considerations also influenced her decision. The designer commented on the close proximity between the London men’s and women’s fashion weeks and said that both economically and creatively it has been a big strain.
“I want to give the team enough time between shows to rest and recover for the next one. It will give us more freedom to develop creatively and to develop our relationships with our factories and fabric mills,” said English.
English is the latest British designer to combine her men’s and women’s shows. She is following the lead of Paul Smith, J.W. Anderson and Burberry.
Although her men’s and women’s collections will be consolidated, the arrangement will not change her design directive. “The personalities will remain the same, the men’s wear collection is a lot

Jonathan Anderson Shows Second Uniqlo Collection in Tokyo

TOKYO—Jonathan Anderson made a quick trip to the Japanese capital to launch the second season of his collaboration with Uniqlo at a press event Tuesday. The line hits stores around the world as well as Uniqlo’s e-commerce site on April 20.
Anderson spoke about his love of Tokyo and Japanese design at an event on the 52nd floor of the Andaz hotel.
“Every time I come here I end up shopping way too much, spending all my money,” he said with a laugh. “Since I was very young I’ve always been obsessed with Japanese craft, this idea that you can build this legacy which you pass on generation to generation, which I think is quite similar in British culture.”
The Brighton Beach-inspired spring offering of Anderson’s collection with Uniqlo is made up of basics with a twist, like striped or solid t-shirts with uneven hems, ruffle collar shirts, and chino shorts. The designer, who said he wears Uniqlo every day, said he has enjoyed working with the Japanese company—he described the experience as “methodical”—and that he has been impressed by the quality it is able to deliver at low prices.

Retailers Bet Big at the Vegas Men’s Shows

LAS VEGAS — There are a lot of opportunities to capitalize on in the men’s market this year. While the industry tends to move more slowly than women’s, the continuing popularity of streetwear, heritage influences and technical fabrications are all understandable trends for the men’s shopper and are buoying the spirits of stores attending the Project, Liberty Fairs, Capsule and Agenda trade shows here this week.
Most men’s retailers are coming off a solid 2017 and believe that the fashion trends in the market will help them continue the momentum into this year.
As James Starke, senior vice president and general merchandise manager of men’s for J.C. Penney, put it: “We had a good fourth quarter and are off to a good start in Q1. There’s a lot of newness in men’s and kids and we have a lot of new brands coming in, so we feel good for spring.”
Looking ahead to fall, Starke has similar optimism — albeit tempered with some caution.
“These shows have become a touch point for us and our suppliers,” he said. “They help validate what we’re doing for fall.”

Justin Bieber’s Manager Scooter Braun Shows Off the Home Ellen DeGeneres Convinced Him to Buy

Hollywood talent manager and record-label boss Scooter Braun knows a star when he sees one — he works with Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and Kanye West — but it was another pair of famous friends that led him to his stunning Montecito, California, home, while it was still a diamond in the rough.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi (rather forcefully) convinced Braun, 36, and his then-girlfriend Yael Cohen, 31, to go house hunting during a fateful lunch in 2014.

The spouses endlessly talked up the seaside town, Braun tells Architectural Digest in the magazine’s March issue. “We were like, ‘We’re not going to buy a house.’ We weren’t even married yet!” But, he recalls, “when we got back to their house afterward, there was a broker waiting for us.”

(Serial renovators DeGeneres and de Rossi have since listed a stunning $ 45 million estate in nearby Santa Barbara, and picked up a new place in Montecito, which was struck by deadly mudslides in January.)

Braun and Cohen fell for the third place they visited: a six-bedroom, 7,000-square-foot home originally built in 1916. “As soon as we pulled into the driveway, between all those trees, we kind of instantly knew that we were going to buy it,” says Braun.

The couple has since married and welcomed two sons, Jagger Joseph, 3, and Levi Magnus, 1.

With help from two of DeGeneres’s go-to decorators Kathleen and Tommy Clement, who also worked on Jennifer Aniston’s Bel Air home, they upgraded every inch of the house and the surrounding landscape, which now features myriad outdoor entertaining areas and two fire pits.

“I’m obsessed with fire pits,” Braun tells AD, “and that’s because some of the best concerts I’ve been to in my life have been around them. I can’t tell you how many times our friends have sat down to sing and play at the piano in the living room, but the real fun happens around the fire pits. We literally sit around and jam.” And, he notes not so subtly, “we are fortunate enough to know a couple of people who can really sing.”

Sharon Wauchob to Launch Men’s Wear, Stage Coed Shows From June

ONE FOR THE BOYS: The Irish designer Sharon Wauchob plans to launch men’s wear — and join the coed gang — starting with London Fashion Week Men’s in June, and in concert with the Savile Row tailor Norton & Sons.
“The idea of change started with my move from Paris to London, which opened up the possibility and benefit of new avenues and new methods of showing. There was also the timing issue with deliveries and the fact that since moving to London I’ve been fascinated with bespoke men’s tailoring,” Wauchob said.
She plans to host a women’s presentation to show her fall 2018 range during London Fashion Week on Feb. 18 and will show a new collections of women’s wear and menswear in June.
As for her collaboration with Norton & Sons, she said,“I like exploring the masculinity in men’s wear. As a designer it genuinely interests me. Norton & Sons offers a modern look and a willingness to have that dialogue with me. I like the classic look with a moment of surprise.”
The designer, who moved her show to London from Paris three seasons ago, said that designing for men requires a different approach. She said there are technical differences to

Upbeat Mood Prevails at New York Men’s Trade Shows

NEW YORK — New year, bright outlook.
That sums up the mood of specialty stores shopping the men’s trade shows here. A strong end to 2017, a soaring stock market and some tempting merchandise options for fall all combined to boost retailers’ spirits.
“Holiday was great,” said Ken Giddon, president of Rothmans, which operates three men’s stores in New York. “There have been some weather difficulties in January but that’s OK. We had a surprisingly strong fall so inventories are not what we had expected. My mood is good — it’s an exciting time to be a retailer.”
He said he has been working more with his suppliers to create partnerships that benefit both. “Every conversation is not: ‘What are you selling and how much is it?’ But it’s, ‘How can we work together.’ That’s what it’s going to take to make the wholesale model work today and I actually enjoy making deals almost more than I enjoy looking at merchandise.”
That said, Giddon did manage to find several brands that he liked at the shows. “I’m surprised at how many great Scandinavian brands there are,” he said, pointing to the Scandinavian Man section at Project. He especially liked Hestra gloves and Cords trousers.

In a second snap, Kardashian received a big bouquet of white roses that spelled out the word ‘Baby.’

Although PEOPLE confirmed the news that the couple are expecting a baby back in September, Kardashian didn’t officially announce the news until Wednesday when she shared a photo of her NBA boyfriend placing his hands over her belly.

“My greatest dream realized. We are having a baby! I had been waiting and wondering but God had a plan all along. He knew what He was doing. I simply had to trust in Him and be patient,” she captioned the black-and-white photo.

Continued Kardashian, “I still at times can’t believe that our love created life! Tristan, thank you for loving me the way that you do! Thank you for treating me like a Queen! Thank you for making me feel beautiful at all stages! Tristan, most of all, Thank you for making me a MOMMY!!!”

The following day, proud mom Kris Jenner took to Instagram to share in the excitement.

“God is so good!! I am beyond excited! What a blessing!!!!!!” she wrote, reposting the same photo her daughter had posted the previous day.

Sweden’s Princess Estelle Shows Off Her Somersaults in Sweet New Video with Dad

Princess Estelle can somersault — and so can her dad!

The 5-year-old princess, who is second-in-line to the Swedish throne, showed off her skills in a sweet new video with her father, Prince Daniel. The Swedish-language clip starts with Daniel talking about Generation Pep, or Gen-Pep, a non-profit he founded with his wife, Crown Princess Victoria, that aims to “spread knowledge and engage both people and organizations in a joint effort to make it easier for children and young people to live a healthy life.”

At the video’s 30-second mark Estelle appears, looking gymnastics-ready in leggings and a sweatshirt. The two briefly chat before she goes to show her dad one of her somersaults. Not to be outdone, Daniel — who met his royal wife while working as a personal trainer — then does a somersault of his own. The video ends with the two chasing each other around the yard, with Daniel eventually picking Estelle up and swinging her around.

It’s been an exciting few months for the Swedish royal family. Victoria’s brother and Estelle’s uncle, Prince Carl Philip, and his wife, Princess Sofia, welcomed their second son, Prince Gabriel, on Aug. 31. Just four days before, Princess Madeleine announced that she’s expecting her third child.

What to Watch: Are Separate Men’s Fashion Shows a Dying Breed?

The men’s fashion calendar is in a state of flux.
The rise of the co-ed show, where major designers are opting to show their men’s wear during the traditional February and September women’s dates, is seriously impinging on the men’s market.
Probably the hardest hit this past season was Milan Men’s Fashion Week, following the decisions by Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Missoni and Etro to go co-ed.
London was also impacted. The big names — including Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford and Moschino — all decided to show in different cities or formats, while a number of smaller calendar stalwarts were absent, too, including Sibling, which went into voluntary liquidation earlier this year; Agi & Sam, which is restrategizing, and Casely-Hayford, which is switching its focus to retail.
One bright spot on the European circuit was Pitti Uomo, the international trade show in Florence. The most recent edition in June found a calendar chock-full of shows and presentations that included J.W. Anderson and Off-White events along with special guests such as Hugo Boss, Christian Louboutin, Federico Curradi and Alanui.
Paris seemed to hold its own the best, with a bevy of new names added to the spring calendar to join the big guns: Louis Vuitton, Dries Van Noten,

Upbeat Vibes Abound at Vegas Men’s Shows

LAS VEGAS — While business conditions remain challenging, the retailers who have survived are upbeat about the future.
But the rules have changed. To lure customers away from their computers and into stores, merchants are being creative — installing pop-up shops, giving their stores a facelift and shifting their mix to inject a much-needed shot of color and comfort.
Although traffic seemed a bit off at the men’s shows here this week, the department and specialty stores who did make the trek to Las Vegas to shop Project, Liberty Fairs, Capsule, Agenda and the PGA Show found a vast assortment of colorful sportswear and clothing for spring, much of it boasting performance features.
At the Doneger Group’s spring men’s overview on the opening day of the shows, Patty Leto, senior vice president of merchandising, said, “The retail landscape is changing at an unprecedented rate” and merchants need to embrace those changes by “thinking out-of-the-box.” Today’s customer is time-poor and experience-hungry, she said, and searching for newness — and it’s up to stores to fulfill those needs.
For spring, the key opportunities center around offering diverse wardrobe options with a distinctly casual bent. Tim Bess, Doneger’s fashion trend analyst, said key pieces include utility bottoms

Beyoncé Shows Off Her Moves at Rollerskating Rink While JAY-Z Reportedly Sits on the Sidelines

Beyoncé and JAY-Z were spotted at the World on Wheels skating rink in Venice, California with friends, just before midnight on Friday.

Fans on Instagram posted footage of the singer showing off her “Crazy” moves on the rink while TMZ claims that her husband sat on the sidelines.

Wearing tight ripped jeans, a black shirt and black cap, Beyoncé — who just welcomed twins Rumi and son Sir seven weeks ago — blended into the crowd on her wheels.

Early Sunday morning, Beyoncé shared an edited compilation video from the rink, showing the singer dancing on skates, sharing a shot of her rings and hand tattoos and playing around with Snapchat filters.

The superstar couple was also spotted at a local sushi joint on Wednesday — with a source telling PEOPLE that since raw fish was prohibited during her pregnancy, JAY-Z and Beyoncé made it a point to dine at their “longtime favorite” restaurant, Sushi Park.

“They have been many times in the past,” the source continues. “Both of them love great sushi. They had a date night without the kids.”

Beyoncé shared some moments from the sushi date on Instagram— including a photo of herself enjoying a glass of red wine.

Independents Upbeat at New York Men’s Trade Shows

NEW YORK — Retailers at the men’s trade shows here this week had one primary category on their minds: sportswear.
Gone are the days when buyers scoured the fairs for new tailored clothing labels. As stores, particularly independents, continue to battle a disinterested consumer, macroeconomic factors and the growing power of Amazon, executives were mainly looking to pick up new casualwear brands to complement their existing offerings.
The good news is that the formula seems to be working: Most independents interviewed said business has picked up slightly and they’re keeping their fingers crossed the trend will continue.
Ken Giddon, president of New York’s Rothmans, noted that thanks to a successful pop-up with Psycho Bunny — “our best pop-up ever” — the store had “a really good June.”
“We’re flexible enough to keep bobbing and weaving,” he added.
For the men’s specialty store, that means de-emphasizing tailored clothing and keeping customers interested by featuring a rotating series of pop-up shops. “It’s part of our model now,” Giddon said. “It works to always have something fresh.”
He said “tailored clothing is becoming a smaller part of the business, but we’re growing other parts,” especially sportswear. He especially liked Stitch Note’s short-sleeve wovens, Benson and Rodd & Gunn’s sportswear,

Buyers Seek Standouts With Identity at Paris Men’s Trade Shows

PARIS — It was all about having a strong identity at the recent spring 2018 men’s trade shows here. Homespun, cultural references, vintage and surf styles and streetwear were selling well, with buyers seeking standout items and new discoveries to complement their core designer offering and differentiate themselves, rather than seeking out specific trends.
“Trends are hard to build a business around these days,” observed Chris Thomas, director of retail for Melbourne, Australia’s Service Denim Stores. “We’re looking for accessories to accentuate our core offer that have a point of uniqueness in the Australian market,” he said. “The ability to be unisex is important, too.”
Indeed, more and more brands were showing what they described as “unisex” collections as the trend for outsize gender-neutral garments continues to gain traction. Labels that tapped into heritage styles and techniques, especially from Japan and France, were also popular, as were new takes on performance wear.
Brands showing at Tranoï, Man and Capsule, held over the weekend during Paris Men’s Fashion Week, said foot traffic had been relatively slow, although key buyers had walked through, with a strong presence from Asian, especially Japan, and U.K.-based retailers.

Ariana Grande Shows Her Support For Victims Of London Attack

Ariana Grande showed her support for London on Saturday night after two possible terror attacks left at least six people dead in the city.

The singer’s message, sent on Twitter, was simple: “Praying for London ♡”

Police are investigating after suspects plowed a van into a group of pedestrians on the London Bridge, then fled the vehicle and began stabbing people in a restaurant at the nearby Borough Market. At least six people were killed in the attacks and at least 30 were hospitalized.

The violence in London struck less than two weeks after a deadly terrorist attack hit Manchester Arena, where Grande had just performed. A suspected suicide bomber detonated an explosive outside of the concert, killing 22 people ― many of whom were children.

Grande tweeted shortly after the Manchester attack that she was “broken” over the violence that followed her concert.

“From the bottom of my heart, I am so so sorry. I don’t have words,” she wrote.

The pop star announced days later that she would host a One Love Manchester benefit concert featuring an all-star lineup including herself, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Coldplay and Pharrell Williams.

The concert sold out in less than six minutes. It is still scheduled to run at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday.
