YG Celebrates Release of Summer Capsule

LOS ANGELES — “Rats Die Slow” reads the back of one 4Hunnid T-shirt.
The message needs no explanation rapper YG (né Keenon Daequan RayJackson) said about one of the pieces from his brand 4Hunnid’s summer capsule. The recently released collection of mostly T-shirts and a pair of basketball shorts is a nod to summer and beautiful women, he went on to say as he described the items.
“It’s really just representing our lifestyle during the summer,” he said. “When summer hits, a lot of people do a lot of things and they plan a lot of trips. I wanted to make a capsule based around pretty females.”
Most of the pieces bear phrases the music artist said represent the lifestyle of “having a good time, being real, being authentic, enjoying yourself, chasing your dream and getting your money.” The capsule debuted at an event Thursday evening that included a gallery-like installation of photos from the capsule’s look book imagery.
4Hunnid, also the name of YG’s record label under Interscope, started in early 2016. It largely won a following as artist merchandise but that changed last year with the introduction of a cut-and-sew collection that made its debut at a star-studded fashion show that drew

Hollywood Stylist Karla Welch Designs Summer Collection for Express

Super-stylist Karla Welch is bringing her Hollywood magic to the masses once again, this time at Express.
The celebrity wardrobe architect for Tracee Ellis Ross, Busy Phillips, Elisabeth Moss, Cleo Wade, Justin Bieber and more is teaming with the retailer on a 20-piece capsule collection of everyday summer basics with a twist in neutral hues, including oversize linen boyfriend blazers (“shoulder pads are back” she says); mechanic’s jumpsuits; tie-dye cropped Ts; men’s wear-inspired shirts; clear sequin-coated boxing shorts; off-shoulder eyelet lace shifts, and high-waist Latex miniskirts. Launching July 17 in sizes 00 to 18, the Express x Karla collection is priced $ 19.90 to $ 128, and will be sold at select stores and online.
“I actually hate summer dressing, that’s how I went into this. But this is who I am and what I want to wear. I wanted to keep it really limited and small and just what you need,” said Welch, an L.A. fashion fixture known as much for her tomboyish personal style and democratic-leaning political Instagram posts as for her red-carpet finesse.
[In Hollywood], “red carpets are massive fashion moments. But for every woman out there and every guy, every day is a fashion moment and it feels great to like

Serious About Summer, Barneys Opens Pop-up Shop

Home is on a bit of a hiatus at Barneys New York‘s ninth floor at the Madison Avenue flagship, where a 1,630-square-foot pop-up shop occupies the front of the area and screams, Sun! It’s a soup-to-nuts approach to summer across multiple categories, from apparel, accessories and beauty to tabletop and books.
Set designer Stefan Beckman gathered all manner of warm weather items for the shop, which he dubbed Heatwave. “It’s the best of what Barneys has to offer for the summer,” Beckman said. “There’s a bit of everything. That’s the way people shop now.”
Beckman himself provided one of the season’s necessary objects — the beach towel, or four or five — from his newly launched collection, Lateral Objects, which is exclusive to Barneys. Priced $ 195, the towels have bold pop colors inspired by California art in the Sixties and the Supergraphic design movement of the Seventies.
“I wanted to think of the pop-up like an exhibition, even though it’s not an exhibition,” said Beckman, who painted plywood signs with colorful graphics and the word, Heatwave, and treated his towels like canvases mounting them on plywood frames.
“We’ve taken the entire front section of the home area. It was important to really make an

Summer Beckons With Helen Owen x Aqua at Bloomingdale’s

Looking for the next influencer to collaborate on its Aqua collection, Bloomingdale’s tapped Helen Owen, whose Instagram account has 1.5 million followers, for her love of travel and comfort.
Owen’s blog showcases her enviable life with posts about trips to Malta; Tulum in Mexico; Bora Bora, and the Maldives, where her wardrobe invariably consists of midriff-baring tops and low-slung pants, off-the-shoulder cropped tops, shorts and bathing suits — lots of bathing suits.
“I’m a traveling creative still seeking an appropriate job title,” Owen said, adding that she’s most commonly referred to as an influencer, but sees herself as somewhere between an influencer, model, blogger and designer.
Designer is a word that’s been resonating with Owen. Her Helen Owen x Aqua collection will be available at Bloomingdale’s stores nationwide on Friday. The collection includes everything for a beach getaway to an  appearance at Coachella, where Owen will be on Friday, “promoting the collection hard core.”
“I can’t just wear shorts and a T-shirt,” Owen said. “I like feeling a little more polished. I went to Bloomingdale’s with a mood board of what I wanted and their mood board was very similar.”

Shrimps and Warehouse Team for Summer Holiday Capsule

SUMMER READY: Shrimps’ creative director Hannah Weiland has ditched her signature faux fur in favor of summer clothing as part of a new collaboration with British high street retailer Warehouse.
“They are a classic British brand and I like that they have their own unique aesthetic on the high street,” said Weiland, adding that she was inspired by a hot summer’s day in Europe. “A glamorous beach day drinking Campari Spritz under a striped umbrella, sitting on a gingham towel and playing Scrabble.”

The Holiday Edit will be available in Warehouse stores and online from mid-April. The collection ranges from T-shirts and sundresses to jewelry and beach bags. Pieces start at 15 pounds.
There are ruched tops, long-tiered dresses and button-up tops. Some feature a floral pattern and daisy embroidery, while others are designed with a printed illustration, drawn by Weiland herself.
Elsewhere, pieces such as a belted playsuit, high-waisted towel shorts and a vinyl tote bag feature a lime green gingham pattern. Accessories take the shape of bucket hats, straw hats and lace-up espadrilles.
“I think Shrimps’ prints and colors work very well for an exciting summer wardrobe. I have a love for lime green so this is key

Company partners Karine and Ariel Ohana and advisory board member Susan Rockefeller, the documentarian and founder of Musingsmag.com, hosted founders of Los Angeles beauty, fashion and food brands including Anastasia Soare of Anastasia Beverly Hills; Bill Guthy of Guthy-Renker; Tracy Holland of HatchBeauty; Kristopher Brock of Brock Collection; Kendra Bracken-Ferguson, chief digital officer of CAA-GBG, and entertainment industry couple Bob and Leslie Zemeckis.

Summer at Grandma’s! Princess Beatrice Joins Queen Elizabeth for Church Service in Balmoral

Princess Beatrice just celebrated her 30th birthday, but she’ll never be too old to spend time with her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

Beatrice, wearing a black coat with a wide-brimmed floppy black hat, was seen sitting next to the Queen in a chauffeur-driven car on Sunday as they made their way to a service at Crathie Kirk church on the Balmoral estate in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Sitting in the front of the car was Beatrice’s father, Prince Andrew.

The Queen, who every year spends the summer in Balmoral, was wearing a pale blue jacket with a matching small-brimmed hat with black and blue floral detailing. Traveling in a separate car was another of the Queen’s granddaughters, Lady Louise Windsor, daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex.

The visit came at the end of a busy week for Beatrice who on Tuesday celebrated her 30th birthday. Feted on social media by her entire family, her younger sister, Princess Eugenie called her “an amazing sister” while mom Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson revealed her private (and very cute!) nickname for Beatrice, writing, “Happy birthday my Trixie-Belle, so proud of you.”

Expected to stay at Balmoral Castle until early October, the Queen and Prince Philip will entertain various members of her family during the next few months. This summer will mark the first time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have visited the Queen’s picturesque highland retreat since they wed in May. In addition to immediate family members (Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall also have a home, Birkhall, on the estate), the Queen hosted Kate Middleton’s parents in the summer of 2016, where they enjoyed picnics and a country shoot.

Fashion Deals Update:

Moda Operandi Sets Summer Shoe Week

Moda Operandi is combatting summertime doldrums with “Shoe Week,” a new sales franchise that solely promotes fashion for the feet.
Seven advance trunk show sales have been scheduled to take place from Monday to Aug. 12. Some sales have a theme, like “Curb-to-Cab,” which focuses on impractical stiletto shoes in which one can barely walk.
Other sales highlight a single brand, as is the case with the site’s Jimmy Choo sale. Additional focuses of the week include mule styles and sneakers. New designer callouts for the week include labels A by Anabelle, Stella Luna and Saptodjojokartiko.
Moda’s vice president for nonapparel Jodi Kaplan explained of the emphasis on shoes: “It’s a growing category. Shoes get a lot of exposure, clients are definitely interested in wardrobing shoes. It’s been interesting to see the breadth of shoe styles our lady is interested in — everything from sneakers to heels.”
Kaplan said the site experiences near equal sales of shoes and handbags, and that she is “looking to grow both categories.”
Shoe Week trunk shows will remain on the live site for the duration of August.

Shotgun Engagements — the Celebrity Summer Trend

No one needs to be reminded that life moves fast. This summer celebrity engagements do, too. Three much-photographed couples didn’t need much time to reveal they plan to marry.
Last month, Ariana Grande got a jump on the trend when she first flashed her engagement ring from Pete Davidson on Instagram. The pair only needed a few weeks to decide they were headed to happily-ever-after hood. Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber are also on board with the trend, as her estimated $ 500,000 rock makes clear. Although they met in 2009, their recent this-is-it courtship was said to be a monthlong affair. And Baldwin reportedly bought Bieber an engagement ring at Pristine Jewelers in Manhattan’s diamond district. Given Baldwin’s influencer reach, more twentysomethings may start buying engagement rings for their soon-to-be spouses, too.
Today brought mention of the latest pair reported to take the fast route — musician Nick Jonas and actress Priyanka Chopra. Both have tried their hand at modeling — John Varvatos for him and Manish Malhotra for her. Chopra is planning to publish her memoir “Unfinished” next year.
It is safe to say that each of the three newly engaged couple will blast past the $ 20,000 average wedding budget, given their
