Wardrobe Teams Up With Gregory Hotel in New York

Wardrobe, the peer-to-peer digital marketplace to rent women’s and men’s clothing and accessories from people’s closets, has struck a fashion and sustainability partnership with The Gregory Hotel in New York. This is the first hotel partnership launch for Wardrobe.
The way it works is prior or during a stay at The Gregory at 42 West 35th Street, hotel guests can reserve items from the Wardrobe app, and the items will be delivered to them at their hotel room for the duration of their stay. After wearing, they can leave it in the hotel closet or with the concierge. The partnership begins Monday.
Asked why they decided to partner with Wardrobe, Yaniv Packin general manager of The Gregory, said,  “As a sustainably minded hotel, this partnership with Wardrobe was an exciting opportunity to be a first mover in the industry and offer our guests an unforgettable experience during their stay. As a hotel we are trying to showcase more sustainable and mindful ideas from hosting an Earth Day event with @insteadofmovement and hosting mindful events including a gallery featuring the work of jewelry designer Ariana Ost.”
Adarsh Alphons, chief executive officer and founder of Wardrobe, added, “We hope to learn a lot from this

Grace Kelly’s Wardrobe on Show at Christian Dior Museum

PARIS — Grace Kelly’s wardrobe is coming to Granville.
Beginning April 27, the Christian Dior Museum, located in the designer’s family home in Granville, Normandy, will welcome more than 85 dresses from Kelly’s personal wardrobe, as part of an exhibition dedicated to her close relationship to the house of Dior.
“Grace of Monaco, Princess in Dior” will showcase the large collection of Christian Dior pieces previously owned by Kelly, carefully preserved at the Monaco palace since her death in 1982. Running until Nov. 17, the exhibition is timed with what would have been her 90th birthday.
The Hollywood actress, who starred in Hitchcock’s “Rear Window” in 1954, chose to wear Christian Dior as she entered into Monegasque royalty, following her marriage to Prince Rainier III in 1956: she appeared in a Dior gown at her engagement ball held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York that year, and chose the “Colinette,” a haute couture creation from Christian Dior’s fall 1956 collection, to wear in her first official portrait as Princesse Grace of Monaco.
“Grace Kelly’s relationship with the maison Dior reveals the central place the house occupied in fashion at the time,” explained fashion historian Florence Müller, who curated the exhibition. To prepare the

Catherine Deneuve’s Saint Laurent Wardrobe Raises $1M at Auction

MILLION-DOLLAR WARDROBE: The sale of Catherine Deneuve’s Yves Saint Laurent outfits raised $ 1 million during an auction at Christie’s Paris on Thursday, with every single lot snapped up.
Interest in the sale was so strong that 90 percent of the 129 lots sold for multiple times above their pre-sale estimate, while the pre-sale exhibition held during Paris Couture Week drew 4,500 visitors, the auction house said. Online bidding for a further 140 lots remains open until Jan. 30 at midnight.
“This week, with highlights including the view and the auction itself, has been a new experience for me and has exceeded my expectations in many ways,” Deneuve said in a statement.
“I would like to thank Christie’s for the beautiful catalogue and the fact they paid tribute to YSL’s talent by presenting his creations in such an exquisite way at the preview, attended by thousands of people. I sincerely hope that the new owners will enjoy these pieces of couture as much as I did,” she added.
The top lot was an haute couture evening ensemble consisting of a chiffon blouse, scarf and taffeta skirt from the Russian collection that Saint Laurent designed for fall 1977. It sold for $ 59,745, 10 times the top

BELLE DE JOUR: French actress Catherine Deneuve is putting her personal collection of Yves Saint Laurent pieces up for auction at Christie’s France.
Starting January 23 during Paris Couture Week, the auction house will unveil 300 items of clothing and accessories belonging to Deneuve, a longtime friend of Saint Laurent’s.
It will put on sale 150 lots on January 24, with additional pieces being presented online from January 23 to January 30. An exhibition of the lots will be open to the public between January 19 and 24.
“Today, I am letting go of my house in Normandy where I kept this collection, not without sadness,” said Deneuve in a statement. “These are creations by such a talented man, who only designed to make women more beautiful.”
A standout piece up for sale is a short, fringed and embroidered dress from the spring 1969 haute couture collection that Deneuve wore when she first met Alfred Hitchcock in 1969, estimated to sell for between 3,000 euros and 5,000 euros.
Other lots include a long peacock blue silk evening dress from the fall 1997 collection worth 2,000 to 3,000 euros, and a black wool Le Smoking tuxedo, chosen by Deneuve to wear at the couture house’s 20th

Inside Kate Middleton’s Clever Wardrobe Trick to Never Upstage the Bride as a Wedding Guest

All eyes are usually on Kate Middleton — but the royal knows exactly how to let a friend have her time in the spotlight.

On Saturday afternoon, members of the royal family stepped out for the wedding of one of Kate’s closest friends, Sophie Carter, who married Robert Snuggs at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Norfolk.

The royal mom of three wore a cornflower blue Catherine Walker & Co coat dress for the special occasion — a recycled outfit! Princess Kate previously wore the piece when she arrived in Berlin with Prince William and their two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, during their July 2017 tour of Poland and Germany.

Just as she perfectly matched her family in blue for their tour, Kate coordinated with her children for the weekend wedding. Charlotte, 3, was one of three bridesmaids, while George, 5, was among the chosen four page boys, and they were outfitted by one of Kate’s favorite childrenswear designers, Amaia. Charlotte wore a linen dress in ivory with royal blue embroidered edging from the upmarket label. Meanwhile, George wore matching cropped blue trousers, with an off-white linen shirt accessorized with a blue cummerbund, also from Amaia.

Kate made her outfit wedding chic by adding a matching floral headpiece by milliner Juliette Botterill, who is becoming a go-to for royal family members like Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall.

At the May wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, she pulled an epic royal rewear with one of her favorite pieces: an off-white bespoke Alexander McQueen coat dress. In July 2015, Kate wore the structured-collared coat dress to Princess Charlotte’s christening. She pulled out the ensemble again at the Queen’s official birthday celebrations, Trooping the Colour, in 2016.

Prince Harry Experienced a Minor Wardrobe Malfunction of His Own — a Giant Hole in His Shoe!

Watch your step, Prince Harry!

While the online world was making a big deal of Meghan Markle‘s barely noticeable undone top button while attending attending the wedding of Harry’s longtime pal Charlie van Straubenzee to Daisy Jenks on Saturday, the 33-year-old royal suffered a minor wardrobe malfunction himself.

Fans with a sharp eye for detail noticed that there was a rather large hole on the bottom of Prince Harry’s shoe, proving that even royals know there’s nothing better than comfortably broken in footwear.

Turns out, the shoes seem to be a favorite pair of Harry’s, even if they are a little worn out. He sported the same pair, hole and all, back in April during a memorial service in London’s Trafalgar Square to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the murder of gang victim Stephen Lawrence.

Meghan, who celebrated her 37th birthday on Saturday, gave a friendly wave to the crowd during the outing while her top button had come undone, revealing a black lace camisole under her color-block, pleated shirtdress from Club Monaco.

Beaumont Etiquette founder and expert in all things proper, Myka Meier, tells PEOPLE that wardrobe malfunctions don’t qualify as breaking royal protocol — they’re simply accidents.

“Meghan did not break royal protocol when her bra showed, as accidents or wardrobe malfunctions are not considered going against dress code rules,” Meier explains. “Her bra showing was not believed to be deliberate, in which case she would have not been seen to be disrespectful by the palace.”

She adds, “A blatant disregard of a rule which was set in order to show respect would when you would consider a break in royal protocol, which the Duchess of Sussex did not do.”

Meghan was all smiles for her first birthday as an official royal after her own wedding in May.

Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at the church separately, as Harry was with other close pals of the groom helping with arrangements and ushering duties, the pair were seen holding hands together at the ceremony, as Harry gazed approvingly at his wife.

While Harry tended to his duties, Meghan chatted with several women in attendance, including Celia McCorquodale, whose June wedding she previously attended with Harry.

Oops! Sonja Morgan Suffers Wardrobe Malfunction During Luann de Lesseps’ Cabaret Show

Sonja Morgan gave the audience at New York City venue Feinstein’s/54 Below an extra show on Thursday night, when she suffered a wardrobe malfunction during her high-energy performance.

The Real Housewives of New York City star, 54, had joined fellow New York City Housewife Luann de Lesseps on stage for her #CountessAndFriends cabaret program, collaborating on de Lesseps’ tune “Money Can’t Buy You Class.”

It was a highlight of de Lesseps’ two-hour show:  The crowd quickly jumping to their feet when Morgan emerged from the audience in a halter-top, red silk wrap dress (which she had also worn during a Valentine’s Day trip to Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen).

But toward the end of the song — as fellow Housewives Bethenny Frankel, Ramona Singer, Carole Radziwill, Dorinda Medley and Tinsley Mortimer sang and clapped along — Mogan’s dress unwrapped, exposing her backside to the packed house.

Ever the professional, Morgan didn’t miss a beat in her performance. She powered through, still singing while turning to get an audience member’s help tying her dress back up before finally securing it herself.

Morgan’s slip was the only hiccup of the night, which opened with de Lesspes singing The Beatles’ 1967 hit “With a Little Help from My Friends” before transitioning into songs like “Almost Like Being in Love” and “L.O.V.E.”

The show, directed by Ben Rimalower and Billy Stritch, also included performances by Tony winner Laura BenantiSaturday Night Live star Rachel Dratch, Patti Cake$ ‘s Bridget Everett, the Scissor Sisters singer Jake Shears and Broadway stars Tony Yazbeck, Andrew Keenan-Bolger and Natalie Joy Johnson.

De Lesspes first performed the #CountessAndFriends show in February. She will return to Feinstien’s/54 Below with the program and a slew of special guests later this spring.

It’s been a tough few months for de Lesseps, who was arrested in Palm Beach, Florida, on Christmas Eve and charged with disorderly intoxication, battery on an officer/firefighter/EMT, resisting arrest with violence and threatening a public servant. (She’s since pleaded not guilty to the charges, with a hearing set for April).

The mother of two married ex-husband Tom D’Agostino in Palm Beach last New Year’s Eve before their divorce seven months later. Following her Dec. 24 arrest, the reality star checked herself into an alcohol treatment facility.

“Obviously it was a really bad night for me and something I am not proud of,” de Lesseps told The New York Times in February about the incident.

“I’m trying to keep it light while also taking it seriously,” she added about the cabaret show. “The important thing is to not take yourself so damn seriously. I always think, ‘I can survive this if I keep on moving.’ ”

The Real Housewives of New York City’s 10th anniversary season premieres April 4 (9 p.m. ET) on Bravo.

Lena Dunham Is Selling 169 Pieces from Her Wardrobe to Support Planned Parenthood

If there’s one thing Lena Dunham takes as seriously as her acting, writing, and directing career, her undying love for Lisa Simpson, or being an advocate for ladies everywhere attempting to regrow their sparse, patchy eyebrows, it’s undoubtedly her passion for women’s rights and equality, a cause she has become increasingly vocal about since the last presidential election. So when the Girls star decided it was time to purge her wardrobe, it makes sense that she would want to do so for a good cause, teaming up with Planned Parenthood to make sure that new dress you buy straight out of her closet doesn’t just look good, it does good, too.

Dunham announced this latest endeavor via a piece in the New York Times on Sunday, revealing that she would be putting 169 pieces of clothing from her personal collection up for sale on the consignment site The Real Real, with the entirely of her 70% commission rate going to the women’s health organization. The items will range from a size 4 to a size 12, and even the Elizabeth Kennedy gown she wore to the 2017 Met Gala will be up for sale for a mere $ 4,000.

She told the newspaper, “I realized I had been carrying around a lot of crap, both internally and externally. I always thought I was going to hoard all my clothes for my future daughter, and now I understand, especially being a woman with a reproductive illness, I may end up with an adopted son, I may end up with a daughter who doesn’t identify with her gender at birth. You can’t live for the future that does not yet exist. I have to take all this good fashion fortune I’ve had and spread it.”

Dunham also added in an Instagram post marking the start of the charity sale, “I’ve been lucky enough to own some truly special (often custom) pieces from innovative designers and selling items that have been worn down Brooklyn streets, on the set of GIRLS and at awards shows and book signings. Each purchase will come with a note from me that documents my experience wearing the piece. I hope you enjoy the pieces and the stories behind them.”

Kensington Palace to Showcase Princess Diana’s Wardrobe in 2017

HOUSE OF STYLE: It’s shaping up to be a year of aristo wardrobes on display. Kensington Palace plans to examine Princess Diana’s style with a big show set for February, marking 20 years since the royal’s death in 1997.
The announcement of “Diana: Her Fashion Story,” follows the news that Chatsworth plans to showcase 500 years of fashion, textile and clothing from the archives of the Dukes of Devonshire with an exhibition scheduled for March.
Kensington Palace, Diana’s former home, will host the two-year show that aims to trace the evolution of her style, from the more romantic outfits of her first public appearances, to the glamorous ones she embraced in later life as she became ever more confident about her style and friends her favorite designers included Gianni Versace and Bruce Oldfield.
The Estée Lauder Cos., a longtime supporter of programs at Kensington Palace, is the show’s sponsor.
“Everything Diana wore was closely scrutinized, and the exhibition will explore how she navigated her unique position in the public eye: Learning to use her image to engage and inspire people, and to champion the causes she cared about,” organizers said.
Pieces to be displayed include evening gowns worn on engagements in the Eighties, to the Catherine Walker

How to Transition Your Wardrobe for Fall, As Demonstrated by Selena Gomez

The arrival of autumn calls for a stealth reworking of our wardrobes. If you’re wondering how to seamlessly master the transition to dropping temps, look no further than Selena Gomez. While the 23-year-old pop star has been jetting from New York City to London to Paris, she’s arrived at each destination looking impossibly stylish (and weather-appropriate). With a few smart tricks, you can nail her approach to fall dressing: Give platform sandals the autumnal treatment by pairing them with opaque tights and a knit dress. Skinny jeans and open-toed heels become appropriate for cooler days when worn with a sleeveless mock-neck top. And if you’re ready to slip into slinky silk pajamas, follow Selena’s lead and team them with a red lip and heels for every October fete. Ahead, her best transitional looks of the season.

3 Ways to Increase Positivity With Your Wardrobe Mindset

How many times have you walked into your closet and thought, “I have nothing to wear” all while you’re staring at a closet that is overflowing with clothes? You then frantically search for an outfit that ends up being the same old thing you always wear, but because you’re running low on time, you just deal with it and go on with your day.

This frantic minute or two is impacting your entire day. By starting the day with a negative thought, you block your own ability to make this day the best one yet. If you start your morning with a positive mindset, you open yourself up to more positivity throughout the day. This leads to greater clarity on what your desires are and how you will achieve them. If you’re ready to add more positivity and clarity into your day, it’s time to start with the one thing that you do every single morning- getting dressed.

Detox Your Closet

Every morning you pick out an outfit and get dressed, regardless of how much time and effort you put into it. With an activity that happens so frequently in your life, it’s important to make sure that it’s not creating a negative impact on your day. The fastest way to add more joy and positivity into your day is by identifying the parts of your daily routine that are chaotic and stressful and eliminating or adjusting them so that they better serve you. By eliminating the frustrations that you have with your wardrobe, you will feel excited about what’s inside your closet door.

The best way to detox your closet is to start with baby steps. Give yourself small challenges either daily or weekly. If you’re planning to do a major closet cleanout, only do this when you know you have the time to do it. A closet cleanout always looks scarier halfway through the process, so you want to make sure you have time to complete it because if not, you’re going to have a giant pile of clothes haunting you for the rest of the weekend.

One of my favorite detox tips is to wear a pair of shoes that you haven’t worn in a while. At the end of the day, ask yourself this, “did you fall in love with them all over again?” If so, by all means keep them! However, if you realized you haven’t been wearing them because they’re uncomfortable or don’t go with any of your outfits, it’s time to get rid of them TODAY. If you plan on donating or reselling clothes or shoes, never put them back in your closet. Set them aside so that you make it a priority to get them out the door!

Define Your Signature Style

When you define your signature style, you know exactly what to wear because you know what pieces of clothing represent your best self. When you are dressed as the best version of yourself, you radiate confidence.

Defining your signature style is not about incorporating the latest trends into your outfit. It’s about identifying what colors and silhouettes you feel best in. When you look and feel your best, the rest of the world sees this.

A great way to identify what colors and silhouettes look best on you without hiring a personal stylist is simple. Here’s something you can do today: head over to your Facebook profile pictures. These pictures were chosen by you as representation of how you want the world to see you, so it’s a good indicator on what outfits you feel confident in. Take a look at each picture and ask yourself which colors and style of clothes suit you best. Hint: it’s important to look past the trends. Just because something isn’t in style anymore doesn’t mean that the color doesn’t look amazing on you!

Open Room for Clarity and Positivity

By eliminating your wardrobe frustrations and curating your closet so that you only have pieces that best represent you, you’ve opened up space that was once taken up by negative thoughts. You’ve saved yourself from a frantic and chaotic morning! This is going to open room in your life for those moments of clarity. The less you are focused on the things that aren’t going right, the more you can focus on all that you can achieve. And when you live this mindset everyday, you know that your goals are achievable. When you have a positive and clear mindset, asking for a raise or moving to a brand new city is no longer as scary as it once was. You see the outcome in the most positive way, knowing that you are acting on this decision because it’s what serves you best, instead of focusing on all of the things that could go wrong.

In the time that you used to spend searching for something in your closet, take this newfound time for a positive thought or think about what you’re grateful for that morning. By regaining control over your morning through your closet, you are bringing in positivity, allowing yourself to focus your energy on achieving your desires.

35 Items In Your Wardrobe is All You Need: 7 Steps

My interpretation of a “minimalist wardrobe” was recently challenged when my girlfriend Jenn Mapp told me about her 35 items. I have known her for years (pre toddler and infant, pre house), and have always thought of her as a “fashionista” in the best sense of the word. I rarely saw her wear the same outfit twice, she always looked fabulous, and she accessorizes better than anyone else. Yet, she decided to simplify her closet (thus her life), and pare it down to 35 items. And she loves the result – not just in her closet. Intrigued? Read on… After all, we all know of Steve Jobs’ jeans and black turtleneck uniform. President Obama has discussed owning shirts of just a few colors, to simplify his mornings. And most business men in effect have their own uniform (suit and shirt). Perhaps they are on to something… I may just have to try this myself…

• AP: What made you decide to reduce your wardrobe to 35 items?

• JM: For most of life shopping was my favorite pastime. Now I have a toddler and an infant, a full time job and own a small (but charming!) house. This translates to no time, minimal storage and considerably less discretionary income. Earlier this spring, while searching Pinterest for closet organization tips, I discovered several boards dedicated to the idea of a minimalist wardrobe. The notion of turning my massive, unmanageable closet into a curated collection of seasonal apparel just felt right. Within a few days I ruthlessly edited my clothes down to 35 items and consigned, donated or stored the rest. My life has improved immeasurably.

Credit Jenn Mapp

• AP: What are your 35 items? Does this include accessories, shoes, lingerie – everything?

• JM: I define “35 items” as the apparel hanging in my closet — business casual separates worn mostly to work. My 35 items do not include accessories because these are my signature outfit makers and without them this would not be a plausible fashion experiment – for me. Workout clothes, lingerie and sleep items do not count. However, my entire fashion collection now fits in one side of an Ikea Pax wardrobe. This makes me very proud.

• AP: How has your life changed since undergoing this fashion experiment?

• JM: In so many ways! Obviously I’ve saved money and time but I’m also happier and more present. You don’t realize how much energy it takes to manage possessions. Most tangibly, my fashion experiment motivated me to start a blog. I assumed #jennmapp would be a fashion blog cataloging multiple outfits created from 35 items but I’ve found that I am more inspired by the psychology of the process. Curbing the impulse to shop parallels instinctive behavior in every aspect of my life. My 3 year old son AJ has emerged as a noteworthy muse.

• AP: Any tips on how others could reduce their wardrobes?

• JM: Sure, how about a random numbered list? The internet loves a list.

1. Purchase or borrow an inexpensive rolling rack.

2. Assemble your entire wardrobe in one place.

3. Automatically move formal or cocktail attire, out of season clothes, ill-fitting or damaged items to the rolling rack.

4. Consider every item that remains. These will make up your current season collection. If you love it, you will know in one second – leave it in your closet. If you experience any hesitation towards an item, put it on the rolling rack.

5. Ruthlessly edit until you are down to a collection that feels right. You will need an adequate assortment of tops, bottoms and outwear. Consider your lifestyle. Depending on the size of your wardrobe, you may require several rounds of edits.

6. Store, repair, consign or donate the rest. Just do it.

7. Repeat every three – four months, filling in gaps as needed.

As I listen to Jenn in awe, she concludes: “You only think you need hundreds of items. You don’t! I guarantee you only wear 30 – 50 pieces as it is. Closet reduction is an excellent exercise in defining your value system. If you read this and are inspired to act, you are ready. Take the plunge. If the idea doesn’t resonate at all or seems inconceivable, well someone has to keep the economy afloat, right?”

How to Maximize Your Swim Wardrobe Without Spending a Dime

Have you looked through your swimsuits from last year and realized that you’re missing some tops and bottoms of your bikinis? Hey, it happens. That’s when mixing tops and bottoms from different suits comes in, but as you know from missing prints in other genres, it takes some skill.

We spoke to Gabby Sabharwal, designer of swimwear brand Giejo, who knows a thing or two about print mixing when it comes to swimwear. Her line was born out of a fruitless search for a swimsuit that she says “fit my personal style of mixing and matching print, textures, and silhouettes.” To help in the styling process, she shared with us her tips on swimwear print mixing, just in time for summer:

  1. Opposites Attract: “I love putting together unexpected combinations, like stripes and animal prints, or contrasting colors of the same print,” Sabharwal says.
  2. Step Outside of Your Comfort Zone: :The beach is the one place where you can have fun!” she says. “Try a new color or vibrant prints—after all, all colors go with a healthy glow.”
  3. It’s All About Balance: “If you’re wearing a loud print, pair it with something more traditional, like stripes,” she adds. “For a large print, try mixing it with a micro print. The same applies for silhouettes: If you are wearing a high-waisted bottom, pair it with a more feminine top.

Jeremy Scott on Madonna’s Coachella Wardrobe

GREAT SCOTT: Jeremy Scott was one of the few who knew that Madonna would be Drake’s surprise guest at Sunday’s Coachella finale because he had worked out the singer’s Moschino look — her second one in a week after “The Tonight Show” — ahead of time with stylist Arianne Phillips. “I was watching from the front with Katy Perry and Rihanna and even they didn’t know, to give you an idea of how insider it was,” he said of Madge’s appearance. “It made me really happy that she gave me such a great homage, with her dancers wearing pieces from my Adidas collection as well,” said Scott, who stayed an extra day in the desert. “The pull of Coachella was too strong to stay away,” he said, though he’s “more selective” about which performances he goes to nowadays. “I went to see Bjork like 12 years ago, so I’ve definitely seen the festival in all its incarnations, and it only seems to get bigger and better.” Now that he’s conquered the Super Bowl and Coachella, the Met Ball is the next marquee event on Scott’s list, though he’s staying mum on who his date — or dates — will be.
