EASTENDERS star Dayle Hudson has poked fun at his character Peter Beale’s new height after he was recast in the role.
The well-loved character recently returned to the Square for the BBC soap’s 35th anniversary – and looked worlds apart from his appearance a few years ago.
Last week fans of the show were left in shock after the new Peter Beale returned a whopping seven inches taller than his predecessor Ben Hardy.
The newcomer towered over his on-screen dad Ian during his first scene on Tuesday even though they were the same height when Peter left for New Zealand five years ago.
Dayle, who is the seventh person to play the fruit and veg flogger, finally took to Instagram to address the confusion with his height by sharing a photo of himself and his on-screen brother Bobby and grandma Kathy.
“Owning my height since day 1…. 6’3 hahaha,” he captioned the post.

During one scene the actors head was cut off to fit him in frame with on-screen grandmother Gillian Taylforth.
Actor Ben Hardy is 5ft 8, while newcomer Dayle stands at a statuesque 6ft 3.
The scenes left fans baffled with one writing: “HOW TALL IS PETER BEALE??? #EastEnders”
A second said: “Good god peter Beale wasn’t 7ft when he left #EastEnders”

Another added: “Did they employ a giant to play the new Peter beale woa how tall?”
His height alongside his blonde hair and blue eyes have left viewers swooning over the newbie – with many viewers calling him “fit” and “hot.”
This is the statuesque star’s first TV role after studying acting at the famous Italia Conti Academy.
Speaking about the opportunity, Dayle said: “I am really grateful and excited to have the opportunity to work on such an institution of British television, alongside some incredible actors.
